Just returned from Hajj with Dome…

Just returned from Hajj with Dome Tours, Alhumdulillah. I would definitely recommend them. They go above and beyond to give you an experience to remember and make things easy for you. Hajj 23 - despite there being many changes to the booking and management of Hajj 23, I cannot fault any aspect of the work undertaken by DT. The admin by Ibrar bhai through to the knowledge, kindness and support of all the guides was nothing short of perfect. The mini very succinct lectures throughout the process allowed you to understand every aspect of the Hajj rituals and why they were being performed. The Ziyarats were amazing and ARH's analogies to real life did make me giggle on many occasions. I am looking forward to undertaking Umrah with DT Insha Allah in the coming year. Great experience of Hajj and Umrah

It was a wonderful experience and dome tours well coordinated and well planned it. It was a big task to coordinate so many people for Hajj and Umrah. They were always available for help and support if needed but any of the group member. Communication was great. I personally had issues with my visa and flights and they sorted out that in timely fashion. Guides were always available, even they phoned individual on their room extension to alert them for coach transfers. Arrangements at the Minhaj camp were great. Those regular reminders after each prayer were fantastic.

Assalamu Allaikum. We went to Hajj this year with DT. I have heard a lot of stories about people going to Hajj and they having problems with the company they went with or their guides but Alhamdulilah this wasn't the case with us. I could not find any fault in their service. They went above and beyond. I will definitely recommend them to everyone. Overall Alhumdullilah our Hajj 2023 experience was amazing. Dome tours and the Dome guides did a great job in helping us though our journey. A big thank you goes to our Dome Guides on the DT 1000/1100 package, they did a brilliant job in ensuring that we were looked after every step of the way, from London to Medina to Makkah and back to London. We could not have asked for better guides!!! However the one thing that needs to be improved is the Hajj application process which is managed by Nusuk. Dome tours did the best they can do to help with the application process but there were too many system errors and payment issues which Nusuk must fix to improve the process.

Dome Tours certainly exceeded our expectations from the get go. They were well organised and provided detailed information and support at every stage. I felt we were in great hands from the initial pre hajj seminar in London to the point we arrived home. Our guide Mohammed Sibai was highly experienced and the ultimate in patience and professionalism. The most amazing Hajj experience ever, organised and run by a fantastic team. The Dome Tours team are experienced, organised, compassionate, and good humoured. They facilitated a smooth journey throughout the Hajj, with the guidance of experienced Shuyukh, who led prayers, duaas, and gave fascinating historical talks during walking tours. Was in good hands throughout the duration of the journey, with a team who kept us safe, well-informed, and guided us to perform the Nusuk correctly. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Incredible service from the very start - we were kept more up to date by Dome Tours than Ministry of Hajj themselves! They need to hand over Nusuk to Dome Tours and watch it flourish. 2023 Hajj process was new to everyone, but Dome Tours were so reassuring, proactive and reliable! I had the perfect first Umrah experience with Dome Tours. I had travelled from Glasgow with a lot of family members, from the beginning the Sheiks and tour advisors were so helpful and knowledgeable they made us all feel at ease. I always felt as though I knew what I was to do, thanks to all the information they had provided us with. ‘The Easy Umrah Guide’ was a great idea to help understand the process of performing Umrah, I always had it on hand and could refer to it easily if I felt unsure and wasn’t able to get to one of the Dome Tours team members. Although, thanks to the bright pink and blue colours of the company it wasn’t hard at all to spot the team or the other members of the tour while we were travelling around Makkah and Madinah! Every single place we visited was incredible and left an impact on me. Alhamdulillah I am very grateful to Dome Tours for everything they did to provide my family and I with a wonderful Umrah experience.

We’d travelled for Hajj with Dome Tours in 2011, so we thought we’d perform Umrah with them again in March 2022. Dome Tours did not disappoint. On departure at Heathrow, their representatives were waiting for us with pre-printed luggage tags, luggage belts, and travel documents. This attention to detail exemplified the wonderful service we enjoyed throughout the trip. Our itinerary was for 10 days, cleverly constructed to allow us to experience Jumma prayers in both Mecca and Medina. Throughout the trip, the staff were accessible, informative and friendly. Nothing was too much for them. Of course, with a trip of this complexity, things can occasionally go wrong. But the staff immediately jumped in to sort out issues before they became significant. Being Arabic speakers augmented their already high standards of professionalism. We stayed in 5-star accommodation throughout. This is not boasting, it’s simply that these hotels are sited just outside the haram, meaning you spend minimal travelling to the mosque and more time in worship. This becomes extremely important at busy times, and means the difference between praying in the mosque or praying outside because inside accommodation capacity has been reached. The trip was punctuated with wonderful excursions (such as a visit to the kiswa factory, Medina museum, walking tours, and so on) which were included in the price. We were given full instructions on how to perform Umrah, along with superbly helpful tips and insights to get maximum benefit from our worship. All the staff were exceptional, but Sheikh Abdulrahman Helbawi added so much value for us in terms of his wise counsel, great humour, compassion, tolerance and wisdom. I feel I made every second of my journey count after following Abdulrahman’s advice. I took advantage of being in Saudi Arabia to independently travel to Jeddah to meet with a colleague. I found Abdulrahman waiting for me in the hotel lobby to ensure the taxi driver would charge me a fair price for the trip. This example sums up the high level of care we received by Dome Tours. We’re planning our next Umrah for November 2022, and we plan to use Dome Tours again, in’shallah. We weren’t planning to go again so soon, but this experience has generated a yearning in us to return as soon as practicable. My family and I wholeheartedly recommend this company.

Alhamdullilah I took my mother and sister on Umrah this year with Dome Tours. The brothers organised a fantastic package for us, excellent hotels and easy transfers, it was my first time in Saudi, everything ran so smoothly Alhamdullilah it allowed us to focus on the experience and not worry about anything else. PRACTICAL TRAVEL GUIDE

The Journey

Allah SWT has made Hajj compulsory only upon those who are able to perform

it, “And Pilgrimage to the House is incumbent for whoever is able to find thereto

a way.”

This ability is not just financial affordability, nor is it merely physical capability. In

order to reap the reward promised by Allah SWT, it also requires spiritual &

mental discipline and knowledge that assures that the performance of the rituals

is in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Allah SWT says in the Quran: “The Hajj is (performed) in months well-known; so

whoever undertakes that duty therein, let there be no obscenity, nor wickedness,

nor wrangling in the Hajj. And whatever good you do, Allah knows it”.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) commented on the reward of Hajj and Umrah:

"Perform Hajj and Umrah repeatedly, for they abolish poverty and sins.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said, “From one Umrah to another is

expiation for what comes in between, and al-Hajj al-Mabrour has no reward

but Jannah”. The key word here is al-Mabrour - it is important to understand

the conditions to achieve a Hajj Mabrour or Umrah Maqboul (accepted umrah).

- Having a sincere Intention;

- Performing the rituals according to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace

be upon him);

- Observing mental and spiritual discipline;

- Exercising self-control and dealing justly with others;

- Demonstrating a positive change in one's life post Hajj or Umrah.

You are the Guest of Allah SWT

Your journey to Hajj or Umrah is an invitation by Allah SWT; you will be the guest

of Allah SWT. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The pilgrims of Hajj and

Umrah are the guests of Allah, when they supplicate to Him, He answers

them and when they seek His forgiveness, He forgives them”.

Being the guest of Allah SWT is a great honour one should celebrate and be

appreciative of. Allah SWT says in the Quran: “Say: It is the Blessing and Mercy

of God; so rejoice in it. It is better than all that they amass.”

With this honour comes responsibilities one should be mindful of:

• To be patient as the guest of Allah should be;

• To be considerate and courteous to others as the guest of Allah should

be;

• To be humble, calm and composed as the guest of Allah should be;

• To be sincere, committed and disciplined to perform your rituals as the

guest of Allah should be.

Hence a great deal of preparation is necessary for this journey.

When we begin our preparation for Hajj or Umrah, amongst the first things that

comes to mind is a packing list and ensuring our bags are or will be ready. Collecting

provision for the journey is, of course, important as Allah SWT Himself says in the

Quran: “And take provision for the journey”.

However there are other aspects of

preparation that one should consider in order to enjoy the journey, endure its

difficulties and obtain its full reward.

FINANCIAL PREPARATION

Allah SWT is Pure ( ÈíØ ) and will only accept that which is pure. The Messenger of

Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Allah the Almighty is Good and accepts only

that which is good. And verily Allah has commanded the believers to do that

which He has commanded the Messengers. So the Almighty has said: “O

(you) Messengers! Eat of the tayyibat [all kinds of halal (legal) foods], and perform

righteous deeds” [23:51] and the Almighty has said: “O you who believe! Eat of

the lawful things that We have provided you” [2:172]. Then he (peace be upon

him) mentioned [the case] of a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled

and dusty, and who spreads out his hands to the sky saying “O Lord! O Lord!”

while his food is haram (unlawful), his drink is haram, his clothing is haram,

and he has been nourished with haram, so how can [his supplication] be

answered?"

Therefore, ensure your source of income is Halal and pure.

DEBTS

A common question people ask is whether they should perform Hajj or Umrah

whilst they are in debt. One should keep in mind that there are two types of

debts:

a) Scheduled debts: These are paid back in the form of instalments over an

agreed period of time. These should not preclude one from

undertaking Hajj.

b) Non-scheduled debts: They should be cleared before Hajj or one

should seek the debtors' permission before deciding to perform Hajj.

PHYSICAL PREPARATION

Hajj & Umrah are physically demanding. During

the journey we will walk distances many of us have

never walked before. Sa'i alone is equivalent to

around 3 miles. So start preparing by walking

regularly and gradually increase the distances you

walk so you are able to walk 5 miles in one go

comfortably.

SOCIAL PREPARATION

It is customary to inform family and friends of your decision to perform Hajj or

Umrah, and your pending departure.

Remember we are journeying to Allah SWT to seek His acceptance of our deeds

and His forgiveness for our shortcomings. So, be kind and compassionate

towards your friends and relatives despite any differences you may have with

them, seek forgiveness from people you have hurt and forgive those who have

hurt you.

If you have children explain to them the love of Allah, show them videos of the

Ka'aba and let them help you in your preparation so they become excited for

you. Hajj is a good opportunity to nurture in one's offspring a connection to

Allah and His religion and their contribution, however small, towards your

journey will have a positive impact on them, InshAllah.

PREPARING THE MIND

It is important to have an understanding of two key concepts to truly enjoy the

rituals of Hajj or Umrah: Dhikr (Remembrance) and Taslim (Absolute surrender to

the will of Allah SWT).

1. CONTINUOUS REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH SWT.

The performance of Hajj & Umrah essentially revolves around the

remembrance of Allah SWT at every step. From the outset, one reminds

him/herself of the objective of the journey in the words of the intention:

'Here I come O Allah to perform Umrah or Hajj'. Thereafter, regular

repetition of the Talbiyah throughout the journey is a constant reminder

of your ultimate goal.

Making Duaa upon the entry to Makkah, the first sight of the Ka'aba,

during Tawaf, after drinking Zamzam, during the Sa'i between Safa &

Marwa, throughout the days of Mina, on the day of Arafat, during the

night spent in Muzdalifa, after stoning Jamarat and during the farewell

Tawaf are all moments when one should engage in Duaa & Dhikr.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Duaa is the essence of worship.”

2. ABSOLUTE SURRENDER TO THE WILL OF ALLAH SWT.

There are many rituals performed during Hajj & Umrah that one is

incapable of comprehending. Many scholars and thinkers have sought

to explore the reasons and wisdom behind the rituals of Hajj and Umrah;

why, for instance, Tawaf is seven circuits, why pelting the Jamarat is

performed in the particular way it is, and so on. The answer simply lies in

the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): “Take from

me your rituals”. This indeed is a clear manifestation and instruction

to surrender one's will to the orders of Allah SWT and what He has

prescribed, and is a lesson we ought to implement in our daily lives.

The word Dhikr in Arabic, means to remember or remembrance. The word Dhikr

is also synonym with the word Duaa. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Du'a is the essence of one's worship” . Reciting Quran is also another kind of

Dhikr as Allah SWT said: “Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e.

the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).”

Dhikr of Allah SWT is a gift from Him to His servant, but requires constancy and

repetition until it becomes a natural part of one's life. Only until one feels the

flow of Dhikr on the tongue and in the heart can one experience what the

Prophet (peace be upon him) described as “the sweetness of Iman”.

Ibn Ata' Allah Al-Iskandari says in his Kitab al-Hikam (book of aphorisms): “ He

(Allah) ennobled you with three gifts: (1) He made you an invoker of Him; were it

not for His bounty, you would not have been worthy of engaging in His

remembrance; (2) He made you remembered by Him because He confirmed His

association with you, and (3) He made you remembered by those with Him, and

thus He perfected His grace upon you”.

Surat Al-Fatiha, which we recite every day in our Salat, is the best example of Dhikr and

Dua'a:

• All praises and thanks belong to Allah, the Lord of the A'lameen (mankind, jinns

and all that exists)

To face the direction of Qibla and raise the hands with palms facing

peace and blessings upon the Prophet peace be upon him and

always Ask Allah SWT to grant you Al-Qabool (acceptance)

Create a list of supplications from the Quran and Prophetic hadith.

Also make a list of people you want to make dua'a for and people

who have asked you for Dua'a.

labelled.

TIPS:

1. If you are buying any drinks or food at the airport remember to do so after you have

cleared security.

2. All liquids, gels, creams and pastes are limited to travel size containers and must be

less than 100ml or 3.4 ounces.

Buy your footwear now and wear them regularly so that your feet feel

LADIES: can wear any kind of comfortable footwear in and out of Ihram. We

highly recommend taking a pair of trainers with you.

MEN: In Ihram any slippers/sandals are allowed as long as the following parts of

the feet are left exposed:

We also recommend a pair of comfortable trainers to use whilst out of Ihram.

Please note that the amount of walking done during Hajj requires

good footwear.

If you have a health condition, seek your doctor's advice to help you decide

whether you are fit to travel and if you are, then ask your doctor to confirm it in

writing. If you are on medication, take a supply long enough to last you through

the trip and make sure you have a copy of the prescription with you.

VACCINATIONS

Meningococcal A, C, W135 and Y are obligatory to obtain

your Hajj or Umrah visa. Ask your GP to explain and provide

you with advice on other vaccinations.

Hajji Flu: During your journey your normal routine will change, you will be

exposed to weather conditions that you may not be familiar with, come in

close contact with pilgrims from all corners of the globe and your body will

undergo some intense physical exercise. As a result most pilgrims suffer

from flu at some stage of their journey, especially during Hajj. Be

Prepared! It can be severe or light – it may be best to have the Flu jab

before going on Hajj.

FOOTWEAR

The need for good comfortable, sensible footwear cannot be

overemphasised. Blisters can cause a problem if not treated

promptly.

Once you are out of the state of Ihram we recommend you to use trainers with

air cushioned soles. To avoid sore feet from walking on hard marble, we suggest

slipper socks for women and to apply the foot cream supplied in the Hajj Pro

Ihram essential pack after coming out of the state of Ihram.

SKIN FRICTION

Physical exercise, heat and sweat can cause chafing, soreness from rubbing 'skin

on skin' (e.g. inner thighs). One may soothe the soreness by applying Vaseline

during Ihram.

SISTERS

You can delay your period for a time by using Norethisterone. Speak to your GP

and get full advice on how and when to use it. You can also seek advice from our

female guides over the phone or Dome Tours doctor by emailing

DURING YOUR JOURNEY

Stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids in order to prevent cramps and

headaches.

Always carry a small water bottle with you.

Stay in the shade and use an umbrella to avoid direct sun rays.

Be careful what you eat from outside vendors and try to avoid greasy and oily

meals.

Try to eat plenty of fresh fruits after washing them properly.

Should I buy Medical / Travel Insurance ?

Medical/Travel insurance is not included as part of your Hajj or Umrah package.

The Saudi authorities provide free medical services for all pilgrims as part of the

visa package.

This free medical service is provided by many government hospitals in Makkah

and in Madinah. Please contact one of our team members or the hotel reception

for information about the nearest Medical centre.

However it may be advisable to obtain Medical/Travel insurance. If you do, you

may want to check that your insurance fully covers all your personal

requirements including medical expenses, pre-existing medical conditions and

repatriation in the event of accident or illness.

Some insurers include cancellation charges, lost baggage and flight

cancellations and delays. It may also be that your credit card company includes

Medical/Travel insurance. Please check with your card issuer.

DURING HAJJ: TWO DOCTORS WILL ACCOMPANY THE GROUP TO

PROVIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE ONLY (YOU WILL FIND

THEIR LOCAL MOBILE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR ID CARD)

MAKKAH:

There are several medical centres inside the Grand Mosque in

Makkah should you require medical assistance whilest you are in the

Masjid.

Clinics have a white sign with a red crescent and are situated in a

number of places around the Haram mosque.

MADINAH:

In Madinah there is no medical clinic at the Great Mosque but there are several

hospitals and clinics near by.

MINA:

In Mina, our camps are located very close to The Mina Valley Hospital and Mina

Clinic No. 9, Dome Tours Doctors or any team member will be ready to assist in case

of a Medical Emergency.

Almost all currencies are accepted at the money exchange kiosks in Saudi

Arabia. The currency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is Riyals. The exchange

rate changes frequently, however the average current exchange rate of £1 is 5

SAR.

You do not have to buy Saudi Riyals in the UK before your travels as you can

easily exchange money in the Airport upon arrival and in various places in

Makkah and Madinah.

Major credit cards and debit cards are also accepted in most places in Saudi

Arabia, however we strongly advise you to check with your card issuer for their

applicable charges for using your card abroad. Please note that American

Express is not accepted everywhere.

The amount of pocket money you will need primarily depends on four things:

Additional meals, drinks and snacks you will buy during the day.

Average spend is between £10-£15 per person per day.

Phone credit, shopping and gifts you will take back home. Some of the

most common gifts are jewellery, Arabian itr (perfumes), incense, dates,

prayer mats, hijabs, and rosary beads.

Charity you wish to donate.

Additional sacrifice and/or Fidyah. Fidyah is a compulsory penalty for

violating the rules of Ihram (£100-£110)

NOTE:

Please use discretion with beggars. Although you may meet many needy

people, there are also many professional con artists 'working' the Hajj.

Whether you are travelling for Umrah individually or within a group, or you are

travelling to Hajj it is very important to have an active sim card to stay in touch

especially in case of an emergency.

You can either use your existing UK mobile while travelling or buy a local sim

card.

USING YOUR UK MOBILE IN SAUDI

If you are intending to use your UK mobile

during the trip, check that your UK number is

active for roaming.

Contact your network provider as many of them

offer bundles for roaming, calls and data while

abroad.

BUYING A LOCAL SAUDI SIM CARD

If you intend to purchase and use a local sim in Saudi Arabia, you must ensure

that your handset is unlocked (i.e. that it is not closed to any one network like

Vodafone, EE, O2 etc). Please speak to your network provider for further

information and/or to unlock your phone.

There are 4 main network providers in Saudi Arabia: STC, Mobily, Zain & Virgin

Mobile. You can buy Pay as You Go sim cards from their kiosks in Jeddah or

Madinah airports, as well as their outlets around the Haram in Makkah and

Madinah.

The average price of a prepaid sim card is £5-£10. You can then top-up with

credit as and when required for data or for making phone calls.

Average price for 1GB data bundle is £10-£15.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO ACTIVATE

A SAUDI SIM CARD

1. Purchase a SIM card from a local provider

(such as STC, Mobily, Zain or Virgin Mobile).

There are outlets available in the Hajj Terminal

and in Makkah. Make sure you activate your SIM

at the same outlet.

2. For activation, you will need:

? a copy of your passport (this will be provided by Dome Tours and given to you

at the airport in the UK);

? the number from your landing card. [You will each receive a landing card at

Jeddah airport or on the plane]. Remove one of the stickers and place it on your

passport copy page given to you. This is a unique number that will be needed to

activate your SIM; and

? to provide your fingerprint to the mobile vendor to activate your SIM card.

[Ensure the immigration officer takes your fingerprints at passport control at the

airport, otherwise it will not be possible to purchase a SIM card later].

3. Once activated, inform a member of the DT team of your new local number

to so we can update our system accordingly.

(Please note: Queues can be very long and it can take a considerable amount of

time to activate the SIM as your personal details and fingerprint will be taken, so

patience is key).

TIP

MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS UNLOCKED TO USE A LOCAL SAUDI SIM

CARD. IF IT IS NOT, CONTACT YOUR NETWORK PROVIDER

Travel in Saudi Arabia during Hajj is strictly managed by the Ministry of Hajj and

1. The duration of the journey from Jeddah to Makkah & Makkah to

Madinah depends on how busy the passport check points known as

Tafweej Stations are.

2. We only have an option to upgrade the coaches for the journey from

Makkah to Madinah.

3. The coaches for the other journeys depends on the Hajj Ministry

schedule and rota, however our logistics team will try their utmost to

secure the best coaches available.

4. Please note that there are no official arrangements made by the Hajj

Ministry for the trips to Jamarat and Makkah during the stay in Mina.

Pilgrims are expected to make their own arrangements. Dome Tours will

organise groups to facilitate this part of the Hajj.

Like any trip, there is always a possibility that things may not always go

according to plan. The biggest challenge of all is being out of your comfort zone!

We will do our best to facilitate and make your journey as enjoyable as possible.

Due to the number of people on Hajj, there are usually delays. Please be

understanding and patient. The group leaders will keep you informed of

developments at all times.

The level of traffic causes regular congestion. Sometimes it may be quicker to

walk the shorter distances. We will advise you of the best route in most

scenarios.

The weather in Saudi is hot at this time of year and it is important to remain

within the shade, wear sunglasses and drink plenty of water.

Due to the large number of pilgrims visiting Makkah and Madinah all year round

as well as cultural differences between the UK and the Middle East in general,

customer service standards in Makkah and Madinah may be different to the

standards in the UK. Patience is key.

You may occasionally face some technical issues in the hotel. Kindly inform

housekeeping of any issues immediately and, when necessary, a member of the

Dome Tours team to follow up.

Moonsighting can sometimes result in differences between the Georgian

calendars and the official calendar in Saudi Arabia (Hijri calendar) which may

mean having to shorten or lengthen our trip by a day than what was originally

planned or advertised. In any case, we will keep the group informed at all times.

With so many people in one place from all over the world, diverse cultures and

traditions during such an intense trip, tempers can flare and result in arguments.

Please do your utmost to remain calm and be forgiving.

The movement of Pilgrims is restricted during the days of Hajj between the cities

of Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah. Travel will be arranged for the group. It is not

always feasible to go by private transportation due to passport control

please come and see us.

In case of an emergency, the decision of the team and group leader will be final.

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY

Ultimately, this is your Hajj! You are performing an act of worship. You are

responding to the call. You must exert yourself to perform your Hajj to the very

best of your ability.

Your intention & your supplication are of prime importance. We are facilitators.

We will do all in our power to ensure that you get to the places you are supposed

to be and within the correct times. Please remember that success is from Allah

alone.

If, God forbid, there are any unforeseen circumstances, we expect our group to

comply with our instructions for the good of the whole group.

UMRAH

MEN: Make sure you keep your Ihram,

slippers/sandals, belt, safety pins in your hand luggage.

LADIES: There are no specific garments for Ihram.

Once you have checked in your main luggage, proceed to security clearance

with your hand luggage. You can wear your Ihram sheets either at:

•Your departure airport in the UK if your flight is direct;

•At the transit hub if your flight is indirect;

•Or in the aircraft if you have enough experience to wear Ihram in

confined spaces.

The intention then can be made and said alongside the Talbiyah just before the

aeroplane reaches the Meeqat. The pilot will usually make an announcement.

Dome Tours guides will pass by to remind you to make your Talbiyah.

You may pray two Rakat, the Sunnah of Ihram, in your seat if you have Wudu.

To make your intention of Hajj or Umrah you do not have to be in a state of

Wudu.

HAJJ

On day we are bound for Mina (i.e. 8 Dhul-Hijjah), you can wear your Ihram

garments after Fajr, then make your intention as your coach sets off for Mina.

Dome Tours guides will remind everyone of the intention & the Talbiyah on the

coach.

REMEMBER: Merely wearing the clothing of Ihram does not mean you

are in the state of Ihram so the restrictions of Ihram will not apply.

You only enter the state of Ihram once you utter your intention, (i)

usually just before the Meeqat point for Umrah and (ii) as we depart

Makka for Mina for Hajj.

Arriving at Jeddah Hajj Terminal can be a challenging experience so we advise

you to take particular note of this section in advance to familiarise yourself with

some of the issues you may face.

Due to the large number of pilgrims arriving from all over the globe, there are

certain procedures taken by the Saudi authorities to ensure that every single

pilgrim will be assigned to their correct service group known as Mutawif office or

Mua'llim Office.

It is the service offices' responsibility to keep our passports safe, facilitate our

transportation during our stay & provide accommodation and services in Mina,

Arafat & Muzdalifa.

The airport formalities follow a strict system. The time required

to pass passport control, clear customs and obtain a Hajj

Ministry coach depends on how busy the airport is.

Below is a brief explanation of the Hajj Terminal arrival procedures. However,

please note that if you are traveling as part of our group, then all the paperwork

will be carried by the Dome Tours Group Leaders.

STEP ONE

On arrival at Jeddah Airport Hajj terminal you will be stationed in a large room

where you will wait until the passport counters become available. The waiting

time here is dependent on whether a flight has arrived prior to your arrival.

Approximate waiting time here is 1-2 hours.

The next step is passport/immigration control. This could take up to 2-3 hours

(an approximation).

After your passport has been stamped and fingerprints taken, collect your

luggage and go through security check.

Make sure you use the luggage tags and luggage belts provided by Dome

Tours.

If you are carrying any prescribed medication, please make sure to have a

copy of the prescription if the medicine contains controlled drugs.

If you cannot find your bag for any reason, please inform one of the Dome

Tours team and proceed to the airline baggage services to report your lost

items. Be sure to keep a copy of the report for follow up.

Please consider your fellow members in your group and try your best not to

cause delay to others by ensuring you have all your bags clearly labelled with

your name & ref no.

There will be porters who will collect your luggage and place them on trolleys as

you pass through security. Make sure that you know where they have placed

your luggage and try not to lose track of it by noting the trolley number.

STEP TWO

Now proceed to the European pilgrim's establishment, and Wukala

(authorised serviced agents). Hand your passport to them telling them that

you would like to go to Makkah. They will recognise which Mutawwif or Muallim

office you should attend from the bar code on your passport. This bar code

informs the Ministry of Hajj and the concerned authorities of your Hajj operator

and addresses of your group in Makkah and Madinah.

The establishment will let you know of an approximate time of departure to

Makkah by coach. Food facilities and rest areas are available at the Hajj

terminal. You can freshen up, pray, rest, change money, have something to eat

as it may take between 3-5 hours until you leave for Makkah.

At this stage you can:

•Pray Salat.

•Exchange some money. Keep in mind the rate in Makkah is usually

slightly so only change based on your immediate requirements.

•Buy and activate a local sim card.

When you start boarding the bus, the establishment of European pilgrims will

take your passport and it will be given to the coach driver who is taking you to

Makkah.

STEP THREE

Makkah is only 96km (60m) from Jeddah. However, due to traffic during the Hajj

season as well as the passport control checks known as Tafweej Stations, the

journey may take 2-3 hours.

Upon your arrival to Makkah the coach will take you to the Mutawwif (Mua'llim)

office where the driver will hand over your passport for safe keeping and you will

be given a wrist band which has the details where your passport is stored as well

as the address of the Mutawwif (Mua'llim).

You have to wear the wristband immediately and for the rest of your duration in

Makkah. The Mutawwif (Mu'allim) will then send a guide with the coach to take

you to your hotel.

Makkah Hotel: Check In

The hotels we use during the Hajj season are located in the central zone around

Al-Masjid Al-Haram. The traffic police close all the roads to and from the

mosque 1 hour before and 1 hour after every Salat and only allow pedestrians to

access the central zone.

If you arrive into Makkah during Salat time, the coach will have to wait until the

traffic police re-open the routes to the central zone.

The check-in during Hajj season in Makkah and Madinah hotels begins from

18:30. So should we arrive at the hotel before this we will be expected to wait in

the reception area until our rooms are ready.

When to Perform Umrah

After checking-in, you will have a choice as to when you would like to perform

Umrah:

Some pilgrims like to go immediately;

Some will take rest or have something to eat and then perform their

Umrah;

Others will prefer to sleep and rest before they start their Umrah.

You should only make this decision after you arrive in Makkah. When you

choose to go will depend on how you feel, how hungry you are and whether

you have enough energy.

Hajj is a challenging act of worship. It is especially demanding physically, hence getting a

good night's rest before and during the days of Hajj is very important.

The biggest challenge facing anyone during Hajj is: being out of their comfort zone. But

what does this mean exactly?

As creatures of habit, we are used to having our personal space, our routine, and being in

control of circumstances and situations around us. During Hajj, this normality is disrupted

- we share our space with other pilgrims who in many cases we have not met before Hajj;

we are waking up in the early hours for Ibadat; and, we are performing rituals that are

physically and mentally tiring.

One of the challenging experiences during Hajj is having to share your room with other

pilgrims. Whilst sharing a room brings about a great opportunity to form a friendship,

interact with others from different backgrounds and develop strong brother/sisterhood,

it can also be a test of one's patience. Even if you have booked a family room, eventually

you will face a similar challenge of having to share your space with others in Mina, Arafat

and Muzdalifa.

THE FOLLOWING SECTION IS A REMINDER OF THE ETIQUETTES OF ROOM SHARING.

1. INTRODUCTIONS

Upon checking in to the room introduce yourself to your roommates briefly.

Keep in mind that you have all been on a long journey to get to Makkah, so not everyone

will have the energy or be in the mood to enter into a long conversation. Keep it short and

sweet…for now.

2. USING THE BATHROOM

Some like a long hot shower or a long toilet break. Be mindful that others may be waiting

to make wudu/have a shower. Don't splash water excessively on the floor, use only one

towel, maintain good hygiene and be considerate when using the shower gels and

shampoos. You can always order fresh towels, toiletries and toilet paper from

housekeeping.

3. KEEP YOUR AREA TIDY

Everyone has a bed and there will be sufficient space to keep your belongings tidy. We

always advise to travel lightly during Hajj.

Keep your space organised, especially in Madinah where most people tend to shop for

4. AVOID USING OTHERS' BELONGINGS

Yes, sharing is a great Islamic principle, but please make sure you bring your own mobile

chargers, electric plugs, travel adapters etc. Ask permission if you wish to use someone

else's personal items, don't just assume that your roommate wouldn't mind. And don't

forget to pack your own toothbrush!

5. SAFE COMBINATION

There is one safe in every room, please agree on a code that all roommates can

remember. Avoid using 0000 and 1234.

Keep your items in a separate, named envelope or bag to avoid mixing of bank notes,

currencies, jewellery etc

6. SLEEPING TIME

Getting enough sleep is very important to feel energised and maintain physical strength

during Hajj. Some like to go to sleep after Isha prayer, wake up 2 hours before Fajr prayer

and then either get some more rest after breakfast or after Zuhr prayer.

However you wish to plan your day and night, please respect the sleeping order of your

roommates, be quiet and considerate when returning to the room during their sleeping

times.

7. DIGITAL ITEMS

During sleep times please switch off or turn down the brightness of your digital devices

such as ipads and tablets. As for mobile phones, kindly put them on silent or night mode.

Remember that vibration mode can also be disturbing to your roommates. Avoid

monopolising the electrical sockets when charging your gadgets.

8. EATING IN THE ROOM

Breakfast and dinner is included in the package and is taken in the restaurant. For those

who would like to eat during the day, be mindful of bringing food into the room in case of

lingering smells and extra rubbish. Please let roommates know you intend to bring food

to the room. If possible, eat out or in common areas of the hotel.

9. FOOTWEAR

Don't walk with shoes inside the room. Once you have entered the room keep your shoes

and slippers by the door on the inside.

For reasons of hygiene don't make Wudu using your roommates' slippers!

10. AIR-CONDITIONING

Agree on a setting that is reasonable to all. We always recommend a setting of 21 - 22°C

but find what is comfortable to all of you. You may need to adjust the setting at night to

account for the natural drop in body temperature when sleeping.

11. STRICTLY NO SMOKING

Hajj is a great opportunity for many people to stop smoking, as the sale of cigarettes is

banned in Makkah and Madinah by law. If you intend to smoke then please note that all

rooms and common areas are non-smoking by default during Hajj. You will have to go

outside the hotel to smoke.

12. GUESTS AND FRIENDS

If you have friends during Hajj with our group or any other group, agree to meet them in

the common areas of the hotel and not in the rooms. Please ask permission from your

fellow roommates before bringing in friends or allowing housekeeping, room service or

maintenance staff into the room.

13. HOLDING CONVERSATIONS

Having a chat is important to get to know one another. However, not everyone will

subscribe to the same socio-political or religious views as you so be courteous and do not

let such topics rise above the spirit of brotherhood and spirituality of Hajj. Let's focus on

our goal which is to perform Hajj and reform our souls.

14. STAYING POSITIVE

Not everyone deals with change and challenge in the same way, so please be sensitive to

others and stay positive. If something is bothering you during the trip please bring it to

the attention of the group leader or Hajj guide to avoid it having a negative effect on the

energy and morale of others.

15. SNORING

This is a very common issue that many will face. If you escape from it in your room, rest

assured that you will encounter it during our stay in Mina. We always recommend

earplugs to light sleepers. If you are super sensitive to snoring or suffer from sleep apnea

that may cause distress to a fellow roommate, then we recommend you book a double

occupancy room.

**Special Notes for female room sharing**

If you are sharing with other female pilgrims, please keep in mind the following:

Aside from leaving/entering and when housekeeping are in the room, please keep

the door closed at all times to respect the privacy of the sisters and observe the

rules of Hijab.

•Strictly no male is allowed inside the room.

•Agree to meet fathers, brothers, sons and husbands in the common areas.

Last, but by no means least, always keep in mind the hadith of the Prophet (saw):

“Do unto others as you would wish to have done unto you” (Abu Dawud)

STEP ONE - IHRAM

Ihram is a sacred state which a Muslim must enter into in order to perform Hajj or

Umrah.

FOR MEN: To enter the state of Ihram, men should wear the Ihram garments

which consist of two pieces of white sheet, wrapping one around the lower part

of the body and the second around the top part of the body; then recite the

Intention and the Talbiya.

FOR WOMEN: To enter the state of Ihram, women should just recite the

Intention and the Talbiya. There is no specific garment prescribed for women to

enter the state of Ihram, however hijab and Islamic dress code applies.

STEP TWO - TAWAF

Begin your Umrah by making Tawaf around the Ka'bah. This is done by circling

the Ka'bah seven times in a counter clockwise direction, starting from the black

stone with Takbeer and ending each circle at the Black Stone with Takbeer,

keeping the Ka'bah to your left.

TWO RAKAT AT MAQAM IBRAHIM

Then the pilgrim goes towards Maqam Ibrahim (Ibrahim's Station), and

performs two rak'ah behind it, close to it if possible, but away from the path of

the people making Tawaf. In all cases one should be facing the Ka'bah when

praying behind Maqam Ibrahim.

ZAMZAM

Upon completion of the 2 rakat at Maqam Ibrahim, one should drink some Zam

Zam water calling to mind the supplications and etiquettes of the Prophet

(Peace be upon Him).

STEP THREE - SA’I

The next rite is to make Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. The pilgrim starts Sa’i by

ascending the Safa. While facing the Ka’bah he praises Allah, raises his hands and

says Takbeer “Allah-u Akbar” three times, then makes supplication to Allah.

Then the pilgrim descends from the Safa and heads towards the Marwah. One

should increase the pace between the clearly marked green posts (Men Only -

women to continue walking at their normal pace), but should walk at a normal pace

before and after them. When the pilgrim reaches the Marwah, he should ascend it,

praise Allah and do as he did at the Safa. This is considered one round and so is the

other way from Marwah to Safa. A total of seven rounds are required to perform the

Sa’i.

There are no required formulas or supplications for Tawaf or for Sa’i. It is up to the

worshipper to praise Allah, to supplicate Him with any acceptable supplication and

to recite portions of the Qur’an. It is recommended, however, to recite the

supplications that the Prophet, salla Allah-u alaihe wa salam, used to recite during

the performance of these rites.

STEP FOUR - CUT OR SHAVE THE HAIR

After Sa’i, the Muslim ends his ‘Umrah rites by shaving his head or trimming his hair

(women should cut a fingertip’s length from their hair).

At this stage, the prohibitions pertaining to the state of Ihram are lifted and one can

resume his/her normal life.

LECTURES

An Umrah lecture will be provided shortly after arrival. There will be regular lectures

throughout the trip and opportunities to seek advice from the Dome Tours reps and the

accompanying scholars on any issues of concern.

WHERE TO SHOP IN MAKKAH

Makkah has always traditionally been a trading city and even today it offers a wide variety of

shopping experiences, from the traditional souk bazaars to modern shopping centres.

However always remember the price can only be obtained by haggling.

PLACES TO EAT

Makkah also offers a large variety food outlets with traditional Indian/Arab restaurants and

modern fast food outlets. However we advise caution when eating. Being too experimental

can have dire stomach consequences to your health and which could jeopardise your Hajj

experience.

Where possible, we will arrange a visit to important sites in Makkah before the

days of Hajj for the extended package only.

GHAAR THAWR

This cave is located at Jabal Thawr in the south of Makkah.

There the Prophet (saw) hid with Abu Bakr (ra) when they migrated to Madina.

MINA

Mina extends from Wadi Muhassar up to the JAMARAAT, which is located at

the boundaries of Mina, next to Makkah.

In the time of Jahiliyya, Mina was a great yearly market, where people would

show off with their forefathers.

At the Jamratul-'Aqaba the Prophet (saw) accepted the bay'a (oath of

allegiance) of the Ansar.

Mina is the place where pilgrims spend most of their time during the days of

Hajj, worshipping Allah ta'ala by Reading Qur'an, Du'aa, Dhikr, eating, drinking

and getting to know people.

The Prophet (saw) had his tent at Masjid al- Khaif in Mina, where seventy

Prophets have prayed before the Prophet (saw).

'ARAFAT

'Arafat is the place where the Prophet (saw) spent the 9th of Dhul Hijja from

noon until after sunset invoking Allah SWT.

'Arafat is a plain ground, not a mountain as many people falsely believe. Jabal

al-Rahma is the mountain at 'Arafat, where the Prophet (saw) stood to say his

prayers.

When the Prophet (saw) performed his Hajj, he received the last revelation,

which is “Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favour

upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion” (Al-Maeda: 3) on the

day of 'Arafat in 'Arafat.

It is said that 'Arafat is the location where Adam and Hawa met for the first

time after they descended to Earth though this report is not authenticated.

MUZDALIFA

Muzdalifa is the place where the pilgrims are commanded to stay overnight after

leaving 'Arafat at the night of the 10th.

It is situated between Muhassir and al-Madiq.

In Muzdalifa there is a mountain called al- Akhshabayn. When the Prophet

(saw) returned from Ta'if after giving Da'wa and being stoned, Allah (swt)

offered him a chance to destroy the people of Ta'if by placing the mountain of al-

Akhshabayn on top of them, but he refused out of mercy.

GHAAR HIRA

(Drive by only – pilgrims may make their own arrangements to visit the cave)

This is a cave at the top of mountain Jabel Al Noor, where the Prophet (saw)

often went to meditate and ponder about God and creation. He usually sought

the mountain's solitude in order to devote himself to worship, taking with him

provision for several days.

There he (saw) received the first revelation, when angel Jibril ordered him to

“Read!” and he would say “I cannot read!” three times before being pressed

hard by the angel until he said “What shall I read?” and the beginning of Sura

“Iqra'” was revealed.

VISITING JEDDAH

Some people have relatives or friends in Jeddah and would like the opportunity to

visit. This requires special permission and needs your presence at the Mutawif's

office. Please liaise with one of the group leaders to establish the correct process.

The approximate cost of a Qurbani is £100-£110. *

*Exact details will be confirmed whilst in Makkah Insh’Allah. Upon receipt of

payment we will arrange for Qurbani to be carried out for each pilgrim.

Transportation Makkah – Mina: 1h by Coach

Accommodation: Our tents in Mina are provided by the Hajj Ministry in the

Turkish, European, and American Hajj Zone. They are air-cooled, clean and

regularly serviced. The space in Mina is very limited; the Hajj Ministry assigns

only a space of 1.1m2 for each pilgrim.

Food: Three daily meals will be provided throughout the days of Hajj. The hot food served is basic

We arrange guided walks to Jamarat and back to the tents with our experienced

team. Our tents are approximately 45 minutes (walking distance) from the

ARAFAT

Duration of stay: 1 Day

Transportation: Mina-Arafat: 30min By Coach

Accommodation: The tents in Arafat are air-cooled and situated within the

European pilgrims' zone. Each pilgrim will be provided with a light roll-up

mattress and blanket to be used in Arafat and later in Muzdalifa.

Food: Lunch will be served. Fruits and soft drinks are available at all times

Muzdalifah – Mina: 1h by Coach or 1h Walk

Talbiyah:

Labbayka Allaahumma labbayk, labbayka laa shareeyka laka labbayk, innal-hamda

wan-ni’mata laka wal-mulk, laa shareeyka lak

“Here I am, O Allaah, here I am. Here I am, you have no partner, here I am.

Verily all praise and blessings, and all sovereignty are Yours. You have no partner.”

Once in Mina, pray each prayer shortened and at its respective time.

MAKING THE MOST OF MADINAH

Madinah is the city of the Prophet (saw) and has a unique sense of tranquillity

about it. At its heart is the Masjid un Nabwi established by the Prophet (SAW)

himself and is his final resting place.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,

“Prayer in this masjid of mine is superior to a thousand prayers elsewhere,

except for Masjid al- Haram and prayer in Masjid al-Haram is superior to one

hundred thousand prayers elsewhere”.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “One

should undertake a journey only to three Masajid (with the intention of

ETIQUETTE OF VISITING THE PROPHET PEACE BE UPON HIM:

Pray two Rakaat Sunnah in Al-Rawdah if possible

1. Stand in front of the Prophet's (PBUH) grave silently and convey Salam to the

Prophet of Allah.

2. Move right to the grave of Abu-Bakr and make Salaam.

3. Move right to the grave of Omar and make Salaam.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING:

Praying (Salat) facing the graves.

Don't touch or kiss the graves.

Don't circle around the graves.

Don't raise your voice.

LADIES VISITING TIMES

Women have allocated times to visit the Prophet's (pbuh) grave and the Rawdah

where praying two Rakat is particularly encouraged.

Historical Sites in Madinah

MASJID QUBAA’

Masjid Qubaa' is located in the ancient town of Qubaa', approx. 4 miles from

direction of the Sacred Mosque: and wherever you are, turn your face towards it.”

(Al-Baqarah:144)

Various reports indicate that either the verse was revealed in the location of the

mosque, or that the companions changed the direction of Qibla while praying in

the mosque once they were informed of the revealed verses.

The masjid's name thereafter changed to Masjid al-Qiblatayn to commemorate

this momentous and historical event.

JABAL UHUD

The famous Mountain about which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

"Uhud is a mountain which loves us and which we love.”

Jabal Uhud marks the location of the battle of Uhud in the year 3AH

The Makkan kuffaar had chosen to mount an offensive with 3000 well-armed

soldiers against the Muslims of Madinah. They were met by a Muslim force of

700 men at the foot of Jabal Uhud.

As the Muslim army was close to defeat, many Muslims, such as the Prophet's

uncle Hamzah, were martyred. Their graves are situated within a brick enclosure

at the foot of the mountain. The Prophet (pbuh) himself was wounded in this

battle.

JANNAT AL-BAQI'

(can be visited separately and not part of Ziyarat trip)

This is a large cemetery located across the street on the east side of Al-Masjid al-

Nabawi.

Enclosed within a large ornate wall, this cemetery is the last resting place of

many of the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), his wives and

children and famous Muslim scholars (may Allah be pleased with all of them).

Coaches will be arranged to transport you from Madinah to the airport

Timing is essential therefore please pack your luggage well in advance to avoid last

minute delays

Lifts can be very busy

Luggage should be retained within the luggage allowance.

Dome tours will provide 5 liters of zamzam per pilgrim which will be pre-wrapped

in a plastic bag and boxed.

You will depart Saudi similarly to any other country, checking in your luggage,

security, going through immigration, passport control and departure lounge.

Seats are pre-assigned by the airline and family members may not be seated next

to each other. However, it is possible to arrange to swap seats with fellow

passengers once on the plane.

Unless noted otherwise, we will depart from Madinah airport for our return to UK.

May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts, your Hajj and duas.

We ask you to forgive us for any of our shortcomings.

Last, but by no means least, pray for us and each other, calling to mind the

Hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), “A Muslim’s

supplication for his brother in secret is answered. At his head an angel is

appointed, and whenever he supplicates for his brother with something

good, the angel appointed to him says, ‘Ameen, and likewise for you’”.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (peace

and blessings be upon him) said, Allah will ask on the Day of Judgment: Where

are those who loved each other for the sake of My glory? Today, on a day

when there is no shade but Mine, I shall shade them with My shade.
