We had our Company gathering here. The location is stunning and one of the best if not the best in Kuwait. This is a buffet with great variety of choice but the food taste is unremarkable (only exception the smoked salmon that was amazing). Being... a buffet service is limited but they still managed to piss me off because they did not want to bring me sparkling water in bottle but only in glass. Overall good for business not for food More

There are 3 towers - first two are globe shaped on top: - restaurant (larger & lower globe) and viewing deck - actual water tank - (shorter and narrower than the other two) lighting tower. Arrived quite late: 10pm - the restaurant closes at 11pm.... However, the servers did not make you feel rushed - big LIKE! :-) Live local music is played ... little loudly though. Buffet was pretty good, however, for KWD 14 it should include soft drinks. With dinner you do not need to pay the KWD 3 entry fee to visit the viewing deck on 120 something metres. All in all I had a good experience and I recommend the place. More

Fairly standard Kuwaiti buffet. i.e. very good. No alcohol of course. But the main reason to visit, is that it's a Kuwaiti icon. The largest globe is the restaurant, the slightly smaller one, on the adjacent spire, a water tank, and the smallest, on the... same spire as the restaurant, a rotating viewing platform. It's 120 metres high and no charge for restaurant customers. Well worth a visit. More

The view is really spectacular, and you are paying a premium for this. The buffet is 16KD and features all worn dishes - if you have had the Radisson Blu buffet, it is virtually the same but less well executed and more expensive. The drinks... are also really overpriced. More

The international buffet in the restaurant on the 82nd floor on the tower is very good. The selections of food are quite varied and although not truly international, it is well worth a visit. The views are amazing on a clear evening.

My partner and I always fancied visiting the Towers and we did do for the iftar buffet. We didn't make a reservation (although I would advise you to) and luckily we were able to be seated. There was an excellent range of food which was... high quality. The staff were very attentive and filled up the food and cleared tables promptly. Would definitely recommend! More

we had dinner there, it was satisfying. the collection was great, and all tasted nice. the service as ok ... and the best part was the view. at the time they had no masri music on, which was great and magical, but later they started... it during weekend, which ruined the atmosphere. More

It is a lovely experience. At first it seems a bit pricey as we paid 7.500 KWD. For this you get a wonderful buffet breakfast plus entrance to the upper viewing deck. To just do the viewing deck costs 3.500 KWD. So your wonderful breakfast... only costs 4 KWD. The food was excellent, service very good and the venue and views amazing. A must visit when you are in Kuwait. More

I visited the restaurant with friends for iftar. They have a buffet with a wide variety of delicious food. I enjoyed the calm and relaxing atmosphere with a fabulous view of the sea. After your meal you can visit the observation deck for free which... is beautiful. I wanted to go to the towers for a long Time and now I’ve been I’m glad.I think the price is very reasonable for the experience. I will definitely be returning. More

The view from The Horizon is very nice. It gives a perfect of the city and the gulf. We went there for breakfast with the colleagues. The Horizon offers a wide range of food items. The food quality is very good. We had a nice... time. More

The views were amazing the buffet was average. Table service provided for hot and cold drinks this is a seperate charge according to item on drinks menu. The view from the tower is free if you eat at the resturant. We dropped some money. But... the security cameras could not identify who or when it dissapeared. Disappointing. Best part was the amazing views of kuwait and its beautiful coastline. More

Stunning views of the city and really very good quality food, far better than you would expect from a buffet!

Just traveled to Kuwait for business and was brought to Kuwait Towers for a late lunch at Horizon Restaurant @ Kuwait Towers, the Iconic Landmark of Kuwait. The restaurant is located at 82... meter above sea level and offers great city and sea views all... around. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner - buffet style. I'm not a fan of buffet but what to do if invited.... The lunch buffet looked a bit boring on the first view but convinced with authentic flavors and a modern set. The prices are on the upper end but yes worth it once in a while. Service is very attentive and the restaurant is very clean. The salad selection is great with "Tapas" style presentation. The dessert has very tasty options and had as well very modern looking sweets beside teh "traditional" arabic and Indian sweets. More

Quite simply the best buffet I have ever had at any restaurant. Even though it was a buffet, it was also some of the best food I have ever had. Such a wide selection of salads, soups, meats and deserts. Such great service. Such a... stunning view. Only thing. ... next to the main courses trays was what I thought was salsa. Ok.. it wasn't salsa. . It was the hottest chilli relish and almost blew my head off!!! What can I say. If you are ever in Kuwait you have to visit. More

Dubai: A new travel crisis is looming on the horizon in Kuwait after many names of people vaccinated were found to be different in vaccination cards than in passports and civil IDs, local media reported.

According to Al Rai newspaper, the problem appeared in particular when people travelling to London were denied boarding. They were forced to return home after authorities discovered the Latin characters in the passports names did not match the vaccination certificates.

Accordingly, the visa with which the traveller will enter the country and the PCR certificate will not be identical.

Passengers who were turned back due to errors in names expressed their frustration over their loss of large sums of money for tickets, hotel reservations, PCR test fee and wondered why does the Ministry of Health did not have an office at the airport to correct such errors.

"Why aren’t there electronic solutions by communicating (online) for correcting names instead of turning away passengers from the airport and informing them to check with the vaccination centre in Mishref to correct the names, they asked.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health stated that “there is a link between the National Vaccination Campaign and the Public Authority for Civil Information for the data of vaccinators, which appears automatically on the registration site, as soon as the civil number and serial number are entered upon registration."

The ministry added that “any data in the vaccination certificate can be modified by visiting the Kuwait Centre for COVID-19 Vaccination in Mishref.

This decision comes in the wake of anticipated amendments to the residence law, set to be approved by the National Assembly in the upcoming week. The assurance was provided to MP Abdulwahab Al-Essa, who heads the Assembly’s committee dedicated to enhancing the business environment within the country.

Ministerial Pledge Amidst Concerns

MP Al-Essa highlighted that the pledge from the Interior Minister followed discussions about the significant challenges faced by expatriates and local businesses due to prolonged visa restrictions. Complaints from the private sector underscored the adverse effects of halting dependent visas, prompting Al-Essa to seek approval from the Assembly to assess the impact on various sectors, including small businesses and the overall market.

Exodus of Skilled Expats and Economic Impact

Al-Essa expressed concern over Kuwait turning into a hub for unmarried expatriate men, emphasizing that qualified and skilled individuals were leaving the country for job opportunities elsewhere in the Gulf region. The freezing of dependent visas played a pivotal role in this exodus, as expatriates were unwilling to continue residing in Kuwait without their families. The resulting manpower shortage contributed to rising labor costs, negatively impacting the construction sector.

Economic Factors in Residency Decisions

In response to these challenges, Al-Essa emphasized the need for residency decisions to consider economic factors alongside security and military considerations. The Interior Minister acknowledged these concerns, assuring Al-Essa that, upon the National Assembly’s approval of residency law amendments, all visa restrictions in Kuwait would be lifted. This inclusive measure would not only encompass family visas but also contribute to the restoration of normalcy in commercial activities.

Legislative Timeline

The head of the Assembly’s interior and defense committee assured Al-Essa that the draft law, encompassing residency law amendments, would be ready for debate during the upcoming session on December 19-20. This legislative development holds the promise of addressing the pressing issues surrounding expatriate visas in Kuwait .

Criticism on Expat Replacement in Government Jobs

In a parallel development, MP Mohannad Al-Sayer criticized government ministers for the delayed replacement of expatriates in government positions with Kuwaiti nationals. Expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of the replacement process, Al-Sayer called on ministers to expedite the transition to create more job opportunities for citizens.

Proposal for State-Owned Advanced Manufacturing Holding Company

During the parliamentary session, lawmakers debated a draft law proposing the establishment of a state-owned advanced manufacturing holding company, primarily focused on oil-based activities. The aim is to diversify Kuwait’s sources of income beyond oil revenues and create additional employment opportunities for citizens. Despite initial government agreement in principle, discussions highlighted the need for amendments, with the final round of votes expected after two weeks.

These legislative discussions underscore Kuwait’s efforts to address economic challenges, enhance employment opportunities for citizens, and adapt its visa policies to align with evolving needs.

This extended validity will be contingent upon the expiration date of the applicant’s passport.

Additionally, as part of this modified visa cascade system, Kuwaiti nationals can now acquire long-term, multiple-entry Schengen visas that are valid for five years. In cases where the visa’s validity surpasses that of the passport, a multiple-entry visa will be issued, with a validity period ending three months prior to the passport’s expiration.

It’s important to note that while holding these visas, individuals will enjoy travel privileges equivalent to those of visa-free nationals.

What is Schengen Visa?

The Schengen Area represents a unique zone in Europe where passport requirements are waived, and there are no border control activities. It stands as the largest passport-free travel region globally.

A Schengen visa, on the other hand, is a short-term visa that grants individuals the ability to visit any of the Schengen Area member countries for tourism or business purposes, with each stay lasting up to 90 days. This visa is the most widely used for European travel, offering its holder the freedom to enter, move about, and depart the Schengen Zone from any of its member countries. Within the Schengen Zone, border controls are non-existent.

The European Parliament has recently granted its approval to a novel initiative for the digitization of the traditional Schengen visa application and issuance procedures. This breakthrough promises a convenient and hassle-free experience for travelers originating from countries outside the Schengen area, such as Kuwaiti passport holders.

They can now bid farewell to enduring long queues and grappling with intricate paperwork, as the Digital Schengen visa will soon be accessible for online application and issuance.

This online platform offers applicants the convenience of entering all requisite details, uploading digital copies of their travel and supporting documentation, and securely processing their visa fees. Moreover, applicants will receive real-time notifications pertaining to the status of their visa application.

Do Kuwaitis Need to Apply For Schengen Visa?

Yes, individuals holding Kuwaiti passports must apply for a Schengen visa to visit any European country within the Schengen Zone. To be eligible to submit your visa application at Schengen embassies/consulates or visa application centers (VACs) in Kuwait, you must fall into one of the following categories:

• Kuwaiti passport holders.
• Third-world nationals residing in Kuwait under a permanent or temporary residence permit who are obligated to obtain a European visa.

What is the validity of Schengen visas?

Schengen visas are valid for 90 days within a 180-day period. Additionally, Schengen visas are divided into the following categories:

• Single-entry: Allows for a single entry into the Schengen area. After departing, a single-entry Schengen visa cannot be used for reentry.
• Double-entry: Permits two entries into the Schengen Area. This means you can enter the Schengen area, leave, and then reenter within the allotted period.
• Multiple-entry: Grants the privilege of entering any Schengen state as often as desired within a six-month timeframe.

How to Request a Schengen Visa from Kuwait?

Required documents and prerequisites.

To apply for a Schengen visa in Kuwait, you need to assemble the following documents:

• A completed and signed Schengen visa application form.
• Two recent identity photographs adhering to the specified guidelines.
• A Kuwaiti passport that is both valid and not more than 10 years old, with an expiration date at least 3 months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen region.
• A round-trip flight itinerary, inclusive of internal flights. Ensure it includes specific dates and flight numbers, indicating your entry and exit points within the Schengen area.
• Travel health insurance with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
• Evidence of accommodation, which can be in the form of hotel bookings, Airbnb reservations, or an invitation letter.
• A bank account statement, no older than three months, reflecting sufficient funds for your trip.
• A sponsorship letter from someone confirming their financial support, accompanied by the sponsor’s recent bank statement, no older than three months.
• A combination of your bank account statement and a sponsorship letter.
• Confirmation of the paid visa fee.

• Determine Your Schengen Visa Type: First, identify the specific Schengen visa type that suits your travel purpose from Kuwait to Europe. Various visa types are available, depending on your intentions.
• Choose the Appropriate Application Location: Find out where you need to submit your Schengen visa application in Kuwait. This may involve selecting the relevant embassy, consulate, or visa application center (VAC) for your application.
• Plan Your Application Timing: Decide when to initiate your Schengen visa application in Kuwait. You can start this process as early as six months before your intended travel date, but ensure that you apply at least 15 working days prior to your departure for Europe.
• Gather Required Documents: Collect all the necessary documents for a Schengen visa application as a Kuwaiti citizen.
• Schedule an Interview Appointment: Make an appointment for an interview at the designated visa application center in Kuwait. • Attend Your Interview: Show up for the scheduled interview on the appointed day.
• Pay Visa Fees : Pay the prescribed visa fee, which is uniform across all Schengen states.

Keep in mind that you may be required to provide your biometric details when applying for a Schengen visa, especially if it’s your first time applying for one.

Processing Time for Schengen Visa in Kuwait

When applying for a Schengen visa in Kuwait, it is recommended to schedule your appointment at Schengen embassies/consulates 4-6 weeks in advance. Typically, the processing of applications takes around two weeks. However, during busier periods or depending on your specific circumstances, it may extend to a month or even two. Therefore, it is advisable to apply well in advance, as you can submit your application up to 6 months ahead of your planned travel.

For residents of Kuwait, the current Schengen visa costs are as follows:

• Adults: EUR 80 (approximately KWD 26)
• Children aged 6-12: EUR 40 (approximately KWD 13)
• Children under 6 years of age: FREE
