Amul Dairy and Chocolate Plant

Amul is a dairy cooperative society, based at Anand formed in 1946, it is a cooperative brand managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly controlled by 36 lakh (3.6 million) milk producers in Gujarat, and the apex body of 13 district milk unions, spread across 13,000 villages of Gujarat. Amul spurred India’s White Revolution, which made the country the world’s largest producer of milk and milk products. Chocolate plant is fully automatic and the visitors can see the manufacturing and packing of chocolates.

Bharat Biogas Energy Limited

Bharat Biogas Energy Limited (BBEL), founded in 2012, is a successful Bio-CNG plant under the GOBARDHAN Scheme. Bharat Bio Gas Energy Ltd, is India’s first innovative producers of Bio Natural CNG gas and Liquid Organic Manure “Sundar 108”.

Through proprietary biotechnology, BBEL utilizes beneficial bacteria and beneficial fungi in variety of environmental and agricultural application.

BBEL provides advanced organic, biological and nutritional products for a broad range of agronomic markets including Agricultural crops, Horticultural crops, Landscape management and home garden. The mission of BBEL is to provide complete solution to Agri-business industry and to replace chemical fertilizers for Organic, Residue free & healthy farming and be Specialized in Agriculture field including Aquaculture with latest technology for complete customer satisfaction.

SARDAR PATEL ASSEMBLY HALL

As a precautionary measure, due to ongoing global Coronavirus outbreak, Amul Dairy, Anand & Amul Chocolate Plant, Mogar will remain close for visitors from 10th March 2020 until further notice by the management.

It was registered on 14th December 1946 under Section 10 of Bombay Act VII of 1925.

The milk processing capacity of the union is 30 lakh litre per day.

Approx 1225 DCS & 200 Plus BMCs with 6.34 lakhs members are registered with the Kaira Union of Gujarat Region only.

The initiation to form a village cooperative society begins on receipt of an intimation from a village expressing their willingness to form a cooperative and affiliate to the district union. A team, then, from the Co-operative Department of the District Union will be visiting the village to conduct a survey to assess its ability to procure daily 350 liters of milk and supply to the Union. The survey will cover the number of households, cattle population and procurement capacity to declare the feasibility. On the basis of the above study and the result that the village can procure minimum 350 litres of milk daily and supply to the Union, the team from the Co-operative Department will help in organizing a gram sabha of village milk producers to decide or pass resolutions on: * Member entry * Place of milk society * Staff for milk Society * Management Committee & Chairman of society appointed * Authority to handle milk society registration * Preparation of Bylaws of milk society * Banking operation authority to Chairman & Secretary * Functions, roles, and responsibilities of Chairman, Secretary, & Management Committee members On completion of successful functioning of the first quarter, the society will become eligible for registration and submits financial reports of the first quarter, as per requirement, to the District Registrar for registration of the society along with list of members and share status, four copies of Bylaw and application for registration. Based on this report, viability and procurement of milk, the first general body meeting of the society is convened to decide or pass resolutions on the following: * Election of New Management Committee Members& Chairman * Resolution and registration of bylaw * Resolution on member registration * Resolution of financial statement * Raising of financial fund * Bank account authority * Appointing local auditor * Staff selection With the completion of above formalities, a registered village milk producers’ co-operative society comes into existence.

* He / She should belong to the area specified by the society in the concerned village * He / She should be at least 18 years old * He / She should own a cow or buffalo * He / She should commit in writing to deliver milk to the society * He / She should pay a registration fee worth Re. 1/- and buy a share worth Rs 10/- * The nominal member should deliver milk for at least 180 days or he / she should deliver 700 ltrs of milk to the union. * He / She should not have any criminal record with police * He / She should not independently run any business of milk and milk products

* He/She receives reasonable milk price throughout the year * He/She receives Difference in price at the end of the year * He/She gets dividend on their shares * Insurance facilities for members & cattle also * Assistance for getting loan * Round the clock veterinary services at farmers door step * Artificial Insemination at nominal rate * Scholarship facilities for farmer’s children * Primary medical aid to farmer’s family at a nominal rate at Tribhuvandas Foundation

Report on Industrial Visit : Amul Banas Dairy February 2024

School of Management and Commerce, Manav Rachna University planned an Industrial Visit to Amul Banas Dairy  on 27 h Feuburary 2024 for  BBA Finance and Accounts, BBA Global Operation Management  and BBA Health Care Management. The coordinators for the industry visit were Ms Vandna Zutshi Bhat, Assistant Prof, SMC, MRU and Dr. Shiv Kumar Assistant Prof, SMC, MRU. About 47 students were part of the group

The students were welcomed by Mr Ajay and Mr Saurav from Banas Dairy. The students were first taken to the unloading area where the milk tankers from Gujarat are weighed and the milk is pumped to the insulated storage tanks for further processing and packaging. The students had the opportunity of visiting various units which were processing the milk into products like Cheese, sweets and curd. 

Learnings: The round around the plant made the student aware of various features of a manufacturing plant like

• Plant layout, 
• Various quality tools like Kaizen which enable quality assurance to be built into the Final product.

The students were shown two documentaries on the journey of the milk cooperative and its impact on the lives of Diary farmers in India. The documentary also threw light on the various projects undertaken by the cooperation for livestock enhancement and welfare in India.

The visit concluded with a small milk based sweet distributed amongst the students.

Visitor's instructions.

• Please carry your ID- Proof or ID- Proof of any one person if you are visiting in a group during your visit.
• The Visit approval given on the basis that Teachers / Professors must take care of their Childrens/Students during the visit and they are solely responsible for any mishap due to negligance of them.  
• We don't have any locker facility for storing luggage and valuables. So, please do not carry any heavy luggage during your visit.
• Visitors will be taken for plant visit in groups.
• Visitors will be able to see processing and production through transparent glass windows.
• There could be any emergency shutdown or breakdown of production line.
• During the visit always stay together with the group and follow the instructions of the plant tour guide.
• For your safety, always remain and walk on the designated walkway.
• Taking pictures and videos of process and production area is strictly prohibited. You can take pictures only at designated areas.
• Pets like Dogs, Cats etc are NOT allowed in the plant as it is a manufacturing organization.
• Please pay attention to heavy vehicles moving in the area.
• Violating any of the above rules will result in the interruption of the plant tour for the person concerned.
• Have a memorable visit.
