DAY 2: LIMA CITY TOUR –  FLIGHT  TO CUSCO

Our Kantu Peru Tours representative will pick you up from your hotel to start this fantastic tour where we will visit the most modern districts of Miraflores and San Isidro.

We will visit the Financial Center, the Golf, the Olivar park, the Huaca Pucllana a pre-Inca pyramidal temple that still survives the urban expansion where our guide will explain the history of this majestic place and then we will go towards Parque del Amor located in Miraflores, from where we can appreciate the majestic Pacific Ocean.

Lima Historical Center

To continue with this adventure, we will go to the Lima Historical Center, declared by UNESCO in 1991 Cultural Heritage of Humanity, due to its beautiful architecture. Where the Spanish were established in the 16th century.

We will visit the Plaza San Martín, the balconies and old mansions, the Plaza Mayor where we will appreciate the most important buildings such as the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop’s Palace, Municipal, and the crypt of Francisco Pizarro – founder of the city of Lima.

Later, ending the tour, we will transfer you to the airport to fly to Cusco upon your arrival We will welcome you at the airport in Cusco and transfer you to your Hotel. The rest of the day will be free to explore Cusco.

DAY 3: SACRED VALLE TOUR

The tour to the Sacred Valley starts At 7:30 am, where our tourist transport will pick you up from your hotel, and then start our adventure through the mountains on the way to Pisac. On the way, you make some stops, where we will be able to take pictures and appreciate the sacred valley of the Incas from a beautiful touristic viewpoint.

Once in Pisac, you can visit its archaeological center: full of terraces and temples; and of course its artisan market.

Afterward, you go through the Sacred Valley to the town of Urubamba, where you stop to take our lunch in a beautiful tourist restaurant, trying different types of dishes and unique flavors that can only offer you a great buffet lunch.

OLLANTAYTAMBO

In the afternoon you will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, you know its history, magic, culture

AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN

Finally, you will take you the train station to go from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes Town.

Early in the morning after breakfast (According to the time entrance ticket to Machu Picchu) the tour leader will come to the hotel and take you to take the bus toward Machu Picchu Inca city. You will travel for 30 minutes until you reach Machu Picchu Control. It is important to carry the original Passport since the tickets to Machu Picchu are personal.

Kantu Peru tours will give you a unique experience in Machu Picchu because our tour leaders will be patients when you visit this new wonder of the world. You have time to take some pictures of the classic view. Then, you have a guided tour for about two hours, visiting the most important temples and sectors from Machu Picchu.

It is important that you have to know that there are some restrictions to do in Machu Picchu, for example, the tour is one way, it is not allowed to come back to the places already visited. Machu Picchu ticket is just one entrance unless you book in advance Machu Picchu city plus Huaynapicchu Mountain you have the chance to re-enter to the Inca city again.

Finishing this amazing Cusco to Machu Picchu 2 days’ experience you will take the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes town, where you have a delicious lunch at the Munaycha Restaurant.

In the afternoon (according to your train schedule), you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting for you with a sign with your name. He will drop you at your hotel in Cusco city.

DAY 5:   RAINBOW MOUNTAIN TOUR

The tour starts from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 am approx, depending on your hotel location the pickup time will be quite different.

Once the group is ready the great adventure will start in the direction of Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. You travel by car for 2 hours approx in our tourist transport until arriving in the community of Cusipata. Here, you enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing with the tour.

Continuing the Rainbow Mountain Tour, The car leaves the main road to take the dirt road for 45 minutes more. During the trip, you can observe beautiful landscapes, canyons, and beautiful glaciers such as The Ausangate Glacier (The biggest of the Cusco region).

Once you arrive at the final stop for the van, the group starts hiking for 1.5 hours approx. The time is average and It depends on sure of your speed but no worries you hike at your rhythm.

Rainbow Mountain Arrival

After having a nice hike to the Rainbow Mountain Cusco, You finally arrive at the destination: The Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain (5.020m / 16.466 ft.). Once the group is together again, you have all the information about this beautiful attraction provided by our very knowledgeable tour guide. After that, you have free time to enjoy the beauty of the mountain on your own, take pictures, enjoy a snack, or just relax.

After enjoying Rainbow Mountain which is one of the best Day Trips From Cusco, The Group starts the walk back to the parking and then to the community of Cusipata. Here, you have a delicious lunch and then return to the imperial city of Cusco.

Finally, at the end of the Rainbow Mountain Tour, you return to Cusco where our transportation will take you to your respective hotel.

IS IT IMPORTANT TO BRING PASSPORTS FOR THE TOURS?

It is not important to carry every day the passport, but When you start the Sacred Valley of the Incas tour to Machu Picchu, you must Carry. Because Machu Picchu and train tickets are required to show the original passport.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Cusco city is located in a considerable elevation, Rainbow mountain is located over 16 thousand feet, so many people start feeling some altitude sickness. Therefore, we advise you to visit your doctor to prescribe medicine for the altitude.

CAN I CLIMB HUAYNAPICCHU AND MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN?

Yes, you can. To climb Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains there is a limit, only 400 hundred people can climb Huaynapicchu and 800 hundred people can climb Machu Picchu mountain per day. Therefore, when you book the tour, you have to be sure about it. Because the reservations for either mountain must be several months in advance. There is an extra fee of 20 dollars to book one mountain.

You are not going to get the ticket for both mountains in Aguas Calientes town, at the last minute.

It is important to know that you don’t need to carry all your suitcases during these two days, therefore, you can leave your big suitcases in the hotel in Cusco otherwise we can store your luggage in our office as long as you show us what is important things you are leaving with us.

Minimum age: 8 years old – Must have parents permission Maximum age: 60 years old (recommended) We will pick you up from your hotel from 4:00 to 4:40 in the morning, to start our great adventure in the direction of the Rainbow Mountain. We will travel by bus for 3 hours in our tourist transport until arriving in the community Cusipata where we will have a delicious breakfast before to continue with the dirty road for 30 minutes more, during the trip, we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes, canyons and beautiful glaciers as The Ausangate. After walking for 1.5 hours we will arrive at our destination, Rainbow Mountain (5.020m / 16.466 ft.), Where we will have free time to enjoy the beauty of the mountain, take pictures, enjoy a snack or just relax. After enjoying the rainbow mountain, we will start the walk back to the community of Cusipata where we will have a delicious lunch and then return to the imperial city of Cusco. Ending our tour, we will return to Cusco where our transportation will take us to the city center (4:30 pm approx) or if it is in private service, to your respective hotel. Note: - If you are staying at a different location than the one you select as your pick up location, it is explicitly your responsibility to be at the main entrance of the hotel or hostel selected as your pick up location for the duration of the pickup time range on your tour date. You must be in a visible place easy to see for the operator and be alert for their vehicle/guide when they go to pick you up for the tour. - Please be aware that February is the month of the year with the highest amount of rainfall in the Cusco region. During this month visibility can be limited on the mountain and in extreme cases the tour may have to be canceled.

I cannot find my accommodation listed in the operator pick up locations as I make my booking. What can I select?

This operator only offers pick-ups from the hotel and hostel accommodation listed, this covers over 90% of the accommodation providers in the area. They do not provide pick-ups or drop-offs at private residences, Airbnbs, bus terminals etc. Select an alternative close by and be ready there for pick-up at the time on your booking confirmation

What kind of clothes should I wear?

The type of clothing you should wear, is basically light clothing, which allows you to move comfortably through all the attractions because sometimes you have to climb stairs. It is also recommended to wear warm clothes, because it is cold in the afternoon or it can rain.

Will I have problems with altitude sickness on this tour?

Altitude sickness can catch many travellers a little bit off guard. Not everyone gets sick in high altitudes and it is difficult to predict who is likely to be badly affected by it. For most people it is nothing more than a headache and some dizzy sensations that diminishes over a short period of time. 1 to 2 days for most people. If you want to limit your chances of getting sick though, there are a few things you can do. Firstly, do not fly directly into high altitude proceed slowly allowing your body time to acclimatise as you ascend gradually. However, for many that is not possible so further steps to take: Drink lots of water and slow down!! This sounds simple but both of these things are very important. Your body is struggling because you don’t have enough oxygen so avoiding any strenuous activity is a good idea. Chew some Coca leaves, the native people of South America have been chewing coca for centuries thanks to its ability to alleviate mild altitude sickness symptoms. Coca leaves can be bought in any supermarket and even souvenir shops or street stalls. Take (Soroche) Altitude Sickness pills these are sold over the counter all over Peru and Bolivia and are just a few dollars. If you are flying straight into altitude over 2500meters, without spending any time at an intermediate elevation and you’re worried about getting sick, you can ask your doctor for more specific and stronger altitude sickness medication in advance. In the rare case that you symptoms are more severe than a headache and mild dizziness you should seek to descend in altitude and seek medical assistance.

How physically fit do I need to be?

You should be reasonably fit to undertake the trek. The trek is not particularly steep but at this altitude the gradual climb is difficult.
