The best time of day to enjoy it is just before sunset, when the sun sets at the end of the path, throwing shadows over the trees, plants and other nature.
Famous Seoul K-Drama scenes here include the time when Song Joong Ki passes over this walkway in Vincenzo on his way to Yoo Jae Myung’s house and Moo Bin gives Ae Ra a pair of shoes on in Fight For My Way , encouraging her to be like Cinderella and put them on.

The front desk you can see in the K-Drama is a counter where you can order your favorite coffee and relax, pretending you’re a guest of the Hotel Del Luna. The Hotel Seine comes with a rooftop lounge which is called the Full Moon Rooftop Lounge, which is ‘Man Wol’ in Korean. Sound familiar? True fans will know.

18 Iconic K-Drama Locations You Can Actually Visit In South Korea
~Live out your K-drama dreams.~
BuzzFeed Contributor
From plot twists to sappy romances, there's so many things to like about a good K-drama. But if you're like me and you're curious about where these dramas are filmed, this post is the one to save for your South Korea travel itinerary.
A day of eating at delicious restaurants and visiting locations where my fav K-dramas were filmed? Count me in!
But first, here are two helpful tips when traveling in South Korea:
1. Use Naver Maps to find directions! It's super easy to use and is available in English.
2. Make sure you have a bus and subway card. In South Korea, transportation by bus or subway is much more common and efficient than cars or taxis. So, to ensure that you're not stuck in hours of traffic, buy a bus and subway card.
Now, onto the locations:
1. Jageun Maeul
K-Drama: Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
Address: 35 Jeongneung-ro 6-gil, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul
The legendary Bok Chicken restaurant isn't exactly a fried chicken restaurant in real life, but it is open for business! They have a variety of traditional Korean dishes that you can try, ranging from traditional green onion pancakes to soft tofu stew. The seating arrangement is exactly like the one in the drama, so you'll get a perfect feel of what it was like filming there.

You're welcome to sit in one of the cozy parlors or go up to the lounge with a full view of the nighttime city lights. Deoksugung Palace Stonewall Walkway looks like a seemingly simple spot but it's more than meets the eye. It makes a frequent appearance in a lot of Korean dramas due to the picturesque pedestrian footpath located near Deoksugung Palace.
The walkway is also a perfect example of blending urban space, a historical motif and nature all in one. While it's a popular spot for a romantic walk, we recommend visiting during autumn to witness the stunning autumn foliage around the area.

Boseong Green Tea Plantation sits in Buseong County, which is known as the green tea capital of South Korea. This is perhaps the most famous green tea plantation farm in the county, home to the oldest and largest tea gardens.
The fields are a vibrant mix of green tea leaves and forest trees and thanks to its crisscrossed structure, walking paths and flights of stairs are built for the public to explore the area. The best time to visit is spring, when the fields release the scent of green tea and when the flowering season begins.

Forest of Wisdom is located just a few kilometres away from the demilitarized zone (DMZ), a somewhat surprising location for a place that's been at the centre of book culture in South Korea. Paju, where the place is located, is a city dedicated to books and Forest of Wisdom is just one of the many book-related structures.
Though it's home to over 200,000 books mostly donated from publishing companies, Forest of Wisdom actually doesn't sell its books nor can they be borrowed. Visitors are only allowed to read the books inside as part of its concept to become something more than a library and a bookstore.

The beach is also famous for its fine sand, beautiful blue waters, numerous restaurants and Instagrammable spots. Make sure you pick the right breakwater that's featured in Goblin though as there are at least five man-made breakwaters there. The breakwater is so famous that it draws a lot of crowds so be prepared for a queue. To complete the experience, you can even loan the red scarf and buckwheat flower just as it appears in the drama.
For K-pop fans, you can also head over to the nearby BTS bus stop, while the actual bus stop from their album, You Never Walk Alone is not there anymore, they recreated a similar version for visitors to take pictures in.

Cheonggyecheon Stream is one of the most popular spots to visit in Seoul. While it might not seem much, the square where the steam is located is actually created based on traditional Korean bojagi design (colourful wrapping cloth), showcasing the craftsmanship of traditional stonework that is both colourful and refined.
Over at the plaza, you can look through the plaques which provide detailed information on the 22 bridges around the stream. This place is a great option for couples looking for a romantic stroll, especially at night when it lights up beautifully.

Want to travel back in time? Head over to Dae Jang Geum Park where most of the Korean historical dramas (also known as saeguks) are filmed. While there are a number of historical drama sets in the country, this one is the largest by far. The facilities in the park are semi-permanent but all of them reflect the architectural style, lifestyle and culture of the past, taking cues from historical records. To recreate the experience even more, we suggest trying on a hanbok and walking through the historical theme park.
Besides historical dramas, the park is also a famous filming site for music videos including Suga of BTS' Daechwita .

8 /14 Rooftop Beomcheong-dong

Rooftop Beomcheong-dong might only appear in one drama but considering its beautiful location, this is highly recommended especially if you're in Busan. The rooftop appears as Namil Bar where the characters in Fight for My Way hang out. It overlooks the colourful houses in Busan, making it a must-visit location.
Previously, memorabilia from the drama was displayed here but because the rooftop is part of a private residence, it was moved to Hocheon Village which is just a few minutes walk from the rooftop. 9 /14 Sinchon Graffiti Tunnel
Featured in: Hello Me, Private Lives, Record of Youth, My First First Love, Touch Your Heart, While You Were Sleeping, The Best Hit, Goblin
A tunnel might not be the most appealing tourist spot to visit but if you remember the iconic scene in Goblin which itself has been parodied in so many other dramas , this is a must in any K-drama fan's list. The original design that appears in Goblin has already been replaced and the graffiti changes quite often so even if you visit numerous times, chances are, the design might be different from your previous visit.
Inside the tunnel, you can even more graffiti and considering that it's located just near Ewha Women's University—another tourist spot to visit due to its amazing architecture—you might as well drop by here.

1) Taean-gun — Fictional North Korean Village
K-drama: Crash Landing On You
Photo credit: Crash Landing On You via Netflix
“Cross” the DMZ and enter the lives of Captain Ri and the spunky villagers by visiting their homes. Located in Taean-gun, the North Korean Village from Crash Landing On You (CLOY) is a film set that has recently opened to the public.
The drama tried to recreate the North Korean village as accurately as possible, with help from defectors residing in South Korea. The design and detail of the fictional village will give you an immersive experience of what it’s like to live in one of the world’s most secretive countries.
Entrance fee: Free How to get there: Take a 3hr cab ride from Seoul to Moseokwon pension house, and enter the set behind the house
Update: A reader just told us this village has been demolished since late February 😭
2) Yongsan-gu, Seoul — Itaewon
K-drama: Itaewon Class
Photo credit: Itaewon Class via Netflix
“It feels like you’re in a foreign country. And everyone there looks so free.” — Jo Yi-Seo
True to the drama’s name, Itaewon is where Itaewon Class was mostly filmed. The vibrant neighbourhood is just as lively and diverse as the show paints it to be.
Just as Jo Yi-Seo puts it, Itaewon is different from other parts of Seoul as it makes you feel like you’re in another country. The once seedy district is now known as a “Western Town”, so you won’t struggle with Korean as many people speak English there.
The best time to check Itaewon out is when it comes alive at night. We recommend you explore the buzzing streets, and also pay a visit to Oriole . This is the restobar where Seroeyi sets up the second DanBam. End the night enjoying scenic views from the rooftop over dinner and drinks!
How to get there: Take subway Line 6 to Itaewon
3) Gyeonggi-do — Korean Folk Village
K-drama: Kingdom
Photo credit: Korean Folk Village via TripAdvisor
This village doesn’t take you across the border, but it does take you back in time. Just like the Fictional North Korean Village in CLOY, the Korean Folk Village is a replica of a village from the Joseon Dynasty. In real life, it’s a cultural village that’s open to both tourists and locals.
The Korean Folk Village features establishments such as shops, herbal medicine halls, a government office and even a Buddhist temple. This cultural village also has exhibitions, workshop and traditional art performances to educate tourists and locals on Korea’s ancestry.
Spoilers ahead! The government office was also featured in the shocking Kingdom episode, where the corpses came back to life and terrorized the Dongnae villagers. You’ll probably recognise the iconic area where the bodies were laid before they later attacked.
Entrance fee: ₩22,000 (~S$25.43) Opening hours: 9:30AM – 6PM (Feb to Oct), 9:30AM – 5:30PM (Nov to Jan) How to get there: Take a shuttle bus from Suwon Station (exit 4), which operates every 2hrs from 10:30AM – 2:30PM
4) Ikseon-dong, Seoul — Hotel SEINE
K-drama: Hotel De Luna
Photo credit: Hotel De Luna via Netflix
Hotel Del Luna is about a hotel for those who enter the afterlife. In episode 11, we saw an older version of the hotel which was set in the 1980s. Recap: This was when Man Wol checked in her first pair of mortal guests during the Lunar Eclipse day.
The “hotel” is actually Hotel SEINE , a hotel-themed cafe. The front desk that you see in the show is actually the bar!
The unique cafe is just one of the many interesting places in Ikseon-dong. The trendy neighbourhood combines the old and new with hipster cafes and vintage boutiques located in hanoks , or traditional Korean houses.

How to get there: Take subway Line 5 to Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station, and take exit 4
5) Hantangang River Geopark — Bidulginangpokpo Falls
The foggy Frozen Valley in Kingdom was a turning point in the show. This was where Seobi, the physician, found the Ressurection Plant and realised the truth about the zombies. The icy pool in the show is actually a waterfall in Hantangang River Geopark .
The trail that gets you to Bidulginangpokpo Falls is the Byeorut-gil trail . The 6.2km trip (one-way) will take you approximately an hour and a half to complete. You’ll start at Busocheon Gorge and end off at the falls.
If you’re looking to add more hikes to your itinerary, the geopark has 10 trails with distances ranging from 4.7km to ~28km.
Entrance fee: Free How to get there: Take subway Line 1 to Dongducheon, then take bus 3300 from Dongducheon Station to Hantangang Tour Attractions Entrance and walk 17mins
6) Incheon — Wonderbox (Paradise City)
Out of all the K-drama filming locations, this is probably the most whimsical. In Hotel De Luna , this vibrant amusement park was where Man Wol met with Chan Sung’s ex-girlfriend to take her bracelet.
Opened March 2019, Wonderbox is an indoor amusement park in Paradise City, Korea’s first integrated resort. The park resembles a circus, but with bright lights and heavily saturated colours that stand out in the “night”. But, the best part about it is you can enjoy your favourite teacup and Ferris wheel rides without worrying about the weather!
Entrance fee: ₩28,000 (~S$32.46) Opening hours: 10AM – 9PM, closes at 10PM on weekends and public holidays How to get there: Take subway Line 2 to Daelim station, then use exit 5 and take the shuttle bus, which operates every hour from 8:30AM – 11:30AM
If you’re a huge fan of theme parks, check out other attractions in South Korea like Everland and Lotte World !

K-drama: What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim
Photo credit: What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim via Netflix
Planning to travel to Korea with your yeobo (Korean for ‘darling’)? them on the Eland Han River Cruise the way Lee Young Joon did for Kim Mi So.
The hour-long cruise will take you on a slow, romantic ride down the Han River. On top of seeing the vibrant Seoul city at night, the cruise also features a stunning firework display. It’s also the perfect place to offer your date your coat when it gets cold during the cruise. 😉

8) Songpa-gu, Seoul — Seoul Book Bogo
The ghost library of Hotel De Luna was only featured once in episode two, but the fascinating design really struck me. I’ve never seen it in any other K-drama, so I searched through many filming locations to find it.
Turns out, the unique library is Seoul Book Bogo , a bookstore/public reading space. On the shelves, you’ll find secondhand books gathered from old bookstores around the city. The unique dome-shaped walkway cuts through the shelving, and it makes a great place for Instagram photos.
Entrance fee: Free Opening hours: 10:30AM – 8:30PM (Tue – Fri), 10AM – 9PM (weekends), closed on Mon How to get there: Take subway Line 2 to Jamsilnaru Station, use exit 1 or 2
9) G yeonggi-do — Paju Book City
K-drama: Romance Is a Bonus Book
Photo credit: Romance Is a Bonus Book via Netflix
Just like the premise of Romance Is a Bonus Book , Paju Book City is all about books. In real life, this is the publishing hub of Korea where books are conceptualised, sold and even shredded.
Within the vicinity, you’ll find about 200 publishing companies seated atop art galleries, bookstores, cafes and even a hotel! This is a place bookworms will love if you enjoy visiting public libraries during your travels.
The main entrance of Gyeoroo Publishing is actually the exterior of the public library, Forest of Wisdom . The interior is just as aesthetic with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.
This K-drama filming location might be familiar to fans of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim . The library was featured in a memorable scene where the fuse tripped. Lee Young Joon had held the torch (both literally and figuratively!) for Kim Mi So as she read in the dark. He then slipped in the line, “Have I ever told you that you’re pretty?”
Opening hours: 9AM – 6PM How to get there: Take subway Line 2 or 6 to Hapjeong Station, use exit 1 and take bus 2200 to Eunseokgyo Intersection Bus Stop, walk 5mins
10) Busan — Hocheon Village
K-drama: Fight For My Way
Hocheon Village is located in the Beoncheong-dong in Busan where the four main characters of Fight For My Way lived.
When you reach Hocheon Village, you’ll find a cute turquoise cafe and a museum that opened in tribute to the drama. The museum overlooks the stacked apartments with hanging bottle lights and memorabilia from the show. Die-hard fans will probably recognise some quotes and images from the show drawn on the glass bottles.
A key location in the show is none other than the humble Namil Bar. It was created by the four friends who use it as a secret place to escape. The rooftop bar is located just five minutes away from the cafe. While it doesn’t have the decorations like the show, it still offers the same great view from a wooden sunbed.

K-drama: Goblin
The epic scene where Eun Tak unintentionally summons Kim Shin ( The Goblin ) was filmed at Jumunjin Breakwater . This is a popular scene that fans love to recreate, down to the iconic red scarf and a simple flower bouquet in hand.
Just two hours from the city, Gangwon-do is a great place for a day trip out of Seoul. After visiting the famed film spot, you can spend some time lounging on the beach. For food, head to the nearby Haerang Seafood Restaurant that serves affordable catches of the day.
Address: 81-32 Gyohang-ri, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do How to get there: Take a bus from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal to Gangneung , then take a 20min cab ride
12) Boseong-gun — Boseong Green Tea Field
K-drama: Legend of the Blue Sea
Photo credit: Legend of the Blue Sea via Netflix
Harvesting tea leaves have always been a part of Korea’s history, so it’s no surprise why this K-drama used a plantation as one of its filming locations for their past scenes. (In case you forgot, this plantation was featured in episode four where Heo Joon Jae saves the mermaid from being killed by soldiers.)
Boseong has the largest tea field in Korea. It’s also where 40% of the country’s tea production takes place. You can either stroll along Cherry Blossom Trail where the filming took place, or hike up to the top of the mountain for a panoramic view of the plantation.
Entrance fee: ₩4,000 (~S$4.62) Opening hours: 9AM – 7PM How to get there: Take a 6hr train ride from Yongsan Station in Seoul to Boseong Station
13) Chungju-si — Tangeum Lake Rainbow Bridge
One of my favourite scenes in CLOY was when the hard-headed Seo Dan finally confessed her love to Gu Seong Ju, the con man. She even kissed him in the middle of the night on the Rainbow Bridge in Chungji. Even though they were supporting characters, this unlikely duo still stole our hearts!
The beautiful rainbow lights on this bridge are lit every day from 7:30PM – 10PM. In the day, it’s a popular spot among families to camp or enjoy a picnic by the waters.
How to get there: Take a bus from Dong Seoul Terminal to Chungju Bus Terminal, then take bus 400 to Central Tower Office (중앙탑 면사무소), and walk 10mins to Tangeum Lake

Korean Folk Village (한국민속촌)
Featuring Joseon-era architecture, traditional performances, and hanbok-clad staff , the sprawling folk village Min Sok Chon in Yongin, South Korea is designed to transport visitors back in time to the country’s dynastic days . For this reason, it has and continues to be a popular filming location for a number of Korean period dramas and films. Among them include the wildly popular The Moon that Embraces the Sun , My Love from the Star , The Face Reader , and Masquerade .
Nami Island , a countryside destination loved by nature enthusiasts and K-drama fans (it was a filming location for the wildly successful Winter Sonata ), is an idyllic stretch of land made up of tree-lined paths, water-side picnic spots, and nature-inspired sculptures and artwork. Located just 63 kilometers from Seoul , the destination makes for a great day trip for visitors of all ages. Furthermore, each season offers something unique, whether its cherry blossoms in the spring, water sports in the summer or music festivals in the fall.

Suncheon Open Film Location (순천 드라마 촬영장)
Comprised of some 200 houses scattered across three ‘villages’ that each portray Korea in a different decade from the 1950s to the 1970s, the Suncheon Open Film Location is the largest film set on the peninsula. Here, visitors can see the filming locations of some of the country’s most beloved TV series and films like Bread, Love and Dreams and Gangnam Blues . They can also enjoy a bit of nostalgia by dressing up in old-fashioned school uniforms and sampling buchimgae (pan-fried foods) and dotorimuk (acorn jelly) at a traditional open Korean tavern. The realistic set is especially popular in the springtime, when the apricot and peach blossoms bloom.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (동대문디자인플라자)
As one of Seoul’s most eccentric modern architectural structures , the Dongdaemun Design Plaza is without a doubt the epicenter of all things design in South Korea. Appealing particularly to young trendsetters with its wide variety of attractions and events (including Seoul Fashion Week), the neo-futuristic complex is a fully-equipped facility where visitors can enjoy food, shopping, and entertainment all in one place. K-drama fans may also recognize it as a filming location for the popular shows My Love from the Star , The Producers , and She Was Pretty .
Jumunjin Beach (주문진해변)
Situated in the city of Gangneung , Jumunjin Beach is a sandy stretch of coastline known for its natural beauty, fresh seafood , and K-drama affiliations. Its unusually blue water made it the perfect background for the famous scene of Goblin: The Lonely and Great God , when Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun) first summons Kim Shin (Gong Yoo). Since it appeared on the TV show, Jumunjin Beach has attracted throngs of fans eager to snap selfies on the famous site. After getting your photo, head to nearby Anmok Beach, where stunning views and gorgeous seaside cafés await you.
Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation (보성녹차밭 대한다원)
Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful places in South Korea, Daehan Dawon in Boseong, Jeollanam Province is an oasis of verdancy and tranquility. Blanketed in soft, rolling hills of beautifully landscaped tea hedges, the farm functions as one of the biggest producers of the country’s green-tea products, and is perhaps the area’s most popular tourist attraction. It’s also the site where Shim Cheong (Jun Ji-hyun) is almost captured by Lord Yang’s swordsmen, but just in the nick of time, is saved by Dam Ryung (Lee Min-ho) in Legend of the Blue Sea . While you’re there, try the city’s iconic green tea snacks such as green tea ice cream and green tea kalguksu (noodle soup), or the province’s signature dish, tteokgalbi, grilled short ribs patties served on a sizzling hot plate.
Sanmotoonge (산모퉁이)
Housed in a lavish Buam-dong mansion and offering breathtaking vistas of the Seoul Fortress Wall , Sanmootonge is a café loved by local hikers and K-drama fans alike. Here, patrons can sit under umbrellas on the cafe’s terrace or in one of its beautifully adorned rooms that look out over the neighborhood. Fans of The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince will appreciate the many paintings and photographs of Hallyu stars Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun-hye in various scenes of the drama, which was partially filmed at the café. Prices, like the hill on which Sanmootonge is perched, are steep, but the views are worth the extra few thousand won.
White Block Art Center (화이트블럭)
A visit to Paju’s Heyri Art Village wouldn’t be complete without popping into Gallery White Block . The modern interior of this gallery-cum-café, as its name suggests, resembles a giant block with white walls, high ceilings, and copious amounts of natural light. For this reason, it has become a popular filming location for Korean dramas including Suspicious Partner , On the Way to the Airport , and Introverted Boss . After browsing the paintings, photographs and sculptures on display across Gallery White Block’s six exhibition halls, grab a cup of coffee on the first floor and enjoy the views of the Heyri pond.
Itaewon Land (이태원랜드)
Itaewon may be known for its raucous nightlife , but tucked away just off the main strip of bars and restaurants is Itaewon Land, a five-story jjimjilbang made famous after its appearance in the body-swapping scene of Secret Garden , a popular K-drama. Its various relaxation rooms such as the pine room and salt room are sure to help you to de-stress while its traditional sauna’s red clay room and flat stone room will most certainly allow you to sweat out all the toxins from last night’s soju session. With a number of guest rooms available for overnight stays, Itaewon Land is also a great (and affordable) place to crash after an evening out on the town.

10 Korean Drama Filming Locations To Visit Once You Can Travel To South Korea Again
Korean drama filming locations
For the past two years, we’ve spent the bulk of lockdown watching Korean dramas to alleviate boredom, but this has only increased our yearning to travel to Korea and visit the filming locations shown in various Korean dramas. And now that some countries are lucky enough to have travel bubbles with Korea, we’ve compiled 10 Korean drama filming locations just in case you get to visit the country.
1. True Beauty – Seolri Skywalk 설리스카이워크
Seolri Skywalk was featured in episode 14 of True Beauty , when the main leads Lim Ju-gyeong and Lee Su-ho went on their first date.
This tourist attraction in Namhae, Ilsan, opened in December 2020. Visitors can stroll down the 80m-long skywalk that stands at about 36m high.
The skywalk is one of the longest structures in South Korea, which means you get to take a leisurely stroll while listening to the soothing sounds of crashing waves, away from the crowds below.
At the end of the skywalk is a 38m-high swing that practically lets visitors propel themselves into the sky – now you can walk the talk when you say you want to yeet yourself into the sun.
Safety measures are taken by ensuring that the participant is taller than 1.4m and does not exceed 90kg. Participants are also securely strapped with safety harnesses before the staff give them a good push.
Admission tickets are available for purchase at the visitor centre near the car park. Tickets inclusive of the swing experience are priced at KRW6,000 (~USD5.20) for adults and KRW4,000(~USD3.46) for children. Tickets just for access to the skywalk are available at KRW2,000 (~USD1.73) and KRW1,000 (~USD0.87) , respectively.
Fun fact: Namhae residents visiting the attraction can get 50% off admission tickets.
Address: 352-4, Songjeong-ri, Mijo-myeon, Namhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do Opening Hours: 10AM-8PM, Daily Telephone: 070-4231-1117
2. 18 Again – Changshin Quarry Viewing Gallery 창신동 채석장 전망대
In episode 14 of 18 Again, Jung Da-jung rings the younger version of Hong Dae-young to meet and clear up misunderstandings. The episode concludes with a kiss after the couple reconciles atop Changshin Quarry Viewing Gallery.
Changshin-dong served as Seoul’s main quarry in the 1960s before it was abandoned afterwards when urban redevelopment began.
Visitors can access the viewing gallery by taking an elevator up to the rooftop on the third floor via Café Camel for a bird’s eye view of Changshin-dong and Seoul. The elevator is only for use till 6PM, so nighttime visitors have to take a flight of stairs near the cashier.
If you prefer to stay indoors, Café Camel has seating areas for visitors while they sip on their coffee or tea and enjoy the city’s scenic view with zero obstruction.
Address: 51 Naksan 5-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul Opening Hours: 1PM-9PM, Daily Telephone: 0507-1330-5416
3. Hospital Playlist – Café Moondoor 카페문도
Café Moondoor was featured in episode 9 of Hospital Playlist , when characters Kim Jun-wan and Lee Ik-sun had their coffee date.
This cafe is well-known for its huge parking space near the café. They serve desserts, pastries, and various beverages.
Their spacious and simple interior, which features a beautiful chandelier above a 16-seater table, has enticed cafe goers to go on photo-taking sprees whenever they visit.
Since the cafe’s opening in late 2018, their earl grey einspanner (KRW5,500, ~USD4.76) , which consists of earl grey whipped cream and black coffee, has been a steady seller.
The cuppa is frequently paired with a slice of picture-perfect raspberry cheesecake (KRW5,500, ~USD4.76) , which is beautifully plated with honey, almond slices, and sprigs of rosemary.
Address: 920-10 Goyang-daero, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do Opening hours: 10AM-9PM, Daily Telephone: 031-901-0710 Instagram
4. The Uncanny Counter – Haenggung Mansion 행궁맨션
Haenggung Mansion served as Unnie’s Noodles, the hideout of the four supernaturally gifted main characters in Uncanny Counter .
Despite its name, Haenggung Mansion is actually a cafe. It is located in the outskirts of Seoul, in the city of Suwon. It may be easily overlooked due to its brick and mortar exterior, so getting there with the use of Naver Maps will be your best bet.
Hidden inside the cafe is an intentional hole in the wall. Past the wall lies a few tables where cafe patrons can sit with their cup of coffee, or use it as a photo spot when unoccupied.
No explicit reason was given on why the owners decided to make that cavity, but it was most likely for aesthetic purposes.
Their menu includes a selection of coffee, pressed juices, and tea, with prices ranging from KRW4,000-6,500 (~USD3.46-5.63).
They also serve homemade desserts such as cannelé , a French pastry made with vanilla, eggs, milk, butter and sugar, or cream cheese egg tarts , priced at KRW3,000 (~USD2.60) .
Address: 3-1 Sinpung-ro 63beon-gil, Jangan-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do Opening Hours: 11AM-11PM, Daily Telephone: 010-3306-0330 Instagram
5. Start-Up – Nodeul Island 노들섬
Nodeul Island stood in as Start-Up’s Sandbox, a location that carried the hopes and dreams of the drama’s main characters.
Nodeul Island is an artificial island located within the Han River, and it was built on reclaimed land. It is a cultural hub that brings food and beverage, lifestyle, music, and nature together.
The famous flight of steps that were used in the official poster of Start-Up leads to Nodeul Yard , a vast picnic area where visitors can enjoy their picnic dates or family outings while surrounded by nature.
Facilities on the island include shops, restaurants, and music and lifestyle event spaces. Do check out the official website for the individual opening hours of each location.
One of the island’s facilities, Cafe BOOOC – a book cafe – was the filming location of a segment in BTS’ 2021 Seasons Greetings .

Episode 46 of the Korean variety show Hangout with Yoo was also filmed in the same cafe. Rain, Lee Hyo-ri, and renowned emcee-cum-host Yoo Jae-suk gathered to hold their first live stream as SSAK3 here.

6. Itaewon Class – Oriole 오리올
Oriole is a three-storey cafe and bar owned by Jungyup, a member of the Korean R&B group Brown Eyed Soul.
A neon sign in bright red right above the entrance brings a pop of colour to the grey building.
This cafe served as Danbam’s second outlet in Itaewon Class , after Jangga Group’s CEO Jang Dae-hee bought over the building that housed the first outlet to curtail Park Sae-royi’s growing success.
The cafe offers rooftop dining, and it gives patrons a 360° view of the city and an unobstructed look at the N Seoul Tower. The seats available at the rooftop get snagged up pretty fast, so do head down before 7PM if you want to get a spot in time for sunset.
You can also grab a drink at the Oriole Bar , located on the 2nd floor.
Oriole Bar sells a wide range of alcoholic beverages from cocktails to hard liquor. Prices go as low as KRW12,000 (~USD10.387) for a glass of Captain Morgan rum .
Other classics such as gin tonic (KRW16,000, ~USD13.84) and Alexander (KRW18,000, ~USD15.58) are available too.
Fun fact: BTS’ V was spotted hanging out at Oriole Bar in March 2020.
Going down the last flight of stairs from Oriole Bar will lead you to Oriole’s brunch cafe.
The all-day brunch menu includes crowd favourites such as the Nurungji Injeolmi Croffle (KRW11,000, ~USD9.52). 7. The King: Eternal Monarch – Haeundae Square 구남로광장
In an attempt to coax the Kingdom of Corea’s traitor, Lee Rim, to come out from hiding, King Lee Gon sets up a New Year’s meet and greet event at Haeundae Square .
Strolling along the streets of Haeundae Square will lead you to the beautiful Haeundae Beach that the city of Busan is well-known for.
Yearly events, such as a fountain show from spring to autumn and a lighting festival in winter, are held at the square, letting visitors bring back lasting memories during their visit to Busan.
There are three variations to the fountain show : music, media, and experimental fountain shows are showcased from spring to autumn. Another variant is the interactive show, where visitors can interact with the image projections on the fountain floor.
Showcase timings have been amended due to COVID-19, so do check out their website for the latest updates.
The annual winter Haeundae Light Festival is also worth keeping an eye out for. It’s a free event, so no need to worry about having to pay for admission tickets.
The lighting installations extend from the streets of Haeundae Square all the way to Haeundae Beach, where more installations are set up in the sand. The festival typically lasts for slightly over a month
Address: Gunam-ro, Haeundae Beach, Jung-dong, Busan
8. It’s Okay To Not Be Okay – Pizza Alvolo (Yeoksam Branch) 피자알볼로 역삼직영점
Pizza Alvolo was where Moon Gang-tae worked as a part-timer after his best friend, Jo Jae-soo, secures him a job there.
The striking logo and blue delivery motorbikes parked outside the restaurant are sure to turn heads as they’re so vibrant compared to other shops along Yeoksam street.
Compared to other Pizza Alvolo branches, which just sell pizza, this particular branch was opened in collaboration with the healthy burger chain Mokdong Burger. Naturally, this outlet also offers burgers.
Mokdong Burger is all about making burgers healthier by swapping out regular burger buns with homemade black rice buns. On top of that, organically sourced ingredients are used for the burger.
A lunch set promotion (KRW15,000, USD12.98) is available from 11AM-3PM. The set includes a Bulback burger – which has a bulgogi (marinated beef) patty – and a Mokdong burger, which includes grilled Korean pear topping a beef patty. A portion of french fries and a can of Coca-Cola completes the meal.
Check out their website to view the variety of burgers available.
Pizza Alvolo’s bestseller is the Paldo pizza (KRW28,000, ~USD24.23) , a large pizza that combines four different pizza flavours: Korean Imsil cheese from Mokdong pizza, crunchy shrimp from the Busan pizza, and the gochujang (red pepper paste) and soy-marinated beef from the Jeonju Bulback pizza.
Head over to their website for a wider selection of pizza here .
Address: 1F Good Job Building, 148 Yeoksam-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul Opening Hours: 11AM-9 . 30PM, Daily Telephone: 02-569-8495 Website
9. Crash Landing On You – Hantan River Sky Bridge 포천한탄강하늘다리
Hantan River Sky Bridge was where the Ri-Ri couple, Ri Jeong-hyuk and Yoon Se-ri, went for a stroll after their movie date and reminisced about their first encounter.
The bridge is suspended about 50m above the Hantan River and is 200m long. It has a glass panel embedded in the path at the halfway point of the bridge. If you choose to look down, you can see the Hantan River Gorge.
Visitors like to play with the reflection of light on the glass panel and snap cool photos.
The area is full of walking courses, with the longest trail being about 1.5 hours and the shortest taking an hour.
The entrance of the Hantan River Sky Bridge is a five-minute walk away from Hantan Geopark , where you can learn more about the geography of the area and the history of how this place came about.
Find out more on their official website here .
Address: 207 Bidulginang-gil, Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi Opening Hours: 9AM-6PM, Daily Telephone: 031-538-2312 Website
10. Dr. Romantic 2 – Doldam Hospital 드라마[낭만닥터김사부]촬영지 돌담병원
The iconic Doldam Hospital is located in Pocheon city, in the same area as the Hantan River Sky Bridge.
The building was previously a family hotel called Lake Sanjeong Family Hotel (산정호수 가족호텔), but it closed down in 2012. It is slated to undergo a revamp to become a potential cable car station serving the area around Sanjeong Lake.
Fun fact: Doldam Hospital is listed under the name “[Dr. Romantic] Filming Location” on Naver Maps. Do follow the directions on Naver Maps so you can get to the filming site safely.
About 100m away from the hospital is Sanjeong Lake , where there is a 3.2km trail that will take you around its perimeters.

7 Korean Filming Locations To Visit For Hardcore K-Drama Fans
Be it korean movies, beauty products, travel destinations, and k-drama hits like squid game, crash landing on you and goblin — the hallyu wave has truly taken the world by storm..
K-drama series especially have not only gained a dedicated fanbase across the world but have also made a mark in the global entertainment industry. And, for people who are not just TV show enthusiasts but travel lovers too, visiting popular K-drama filming locations where some of their iconic scenes have been shot is no less than a treat.
South Korea has several beautiful locations that attract tourists and its capital, Seoul , is a traveller’s paradise. Along with ancient architecture, scrumptious delicacies and serene beaches, it is one of the best places to be in. Add to it the chance to visit the K-drama filming locations where some of the most unforgettable scenes from Korean TV shows featuring your favourite popular actors were shot or better, recreate them in your own way for Instagram.
Here are some of the most popular K-drama filming locations to visit in South Korea
Sinchon graffiti tunnel, seoul.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Korean drama (@goblin_kdramaa)
Remember the hilarious scene from Goblin , where Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) and the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-wook) walk in style, through a tunnel and a biker zooms past them, yelling at them to take the side-walk? They happily assume he’s probably wishing them ‘Happy New Year’ in his own way and wave at him, all smiles. This scene has been beautifully shot in and around the tunnel, with the bright graffiti art clearly visible. However, the graffiti shown in the scene has now been replaced by something new. Nevertheless, it is a unique place to visit.
Initially, random paintings on walls were strictly banned in South Korea. Later, the Korean government legalised graffiti art, after recognising it to be an important tool for global representation. Now, the country offers various forms of graffiti art on its walls throughout the city.
If you wish to be photographed, with this beautiful tunnel wall in the background, head straight to Exit 1 of Sinchon Station (Railroad) on the Gyeongui Line. The tunnel is located to the left of the Megabox Building. You can easily reach Sinchon from Seoul station by train (metro subway), taxi or on foot too if you don’t mind a long walk. Also, the Ewha Womans University is near the tunnel, which should be on the must-visit list of every architecture lover.
Jumunjin Beach Breakwater, Gangneung-si
Featured in: Racket Boys, More Than Friends, Goblin, Hotel King
Another iconic scene from Goblin (also known as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God ) has been shot with a serene beach as the backdrop. Known as the red-scarf scene, it shows Ji Eun-Tak (Kim Go-eun) meeting the Goblin, aka Kim Shin (Gong Yoo), for the first time on her birthday. This K-drama location is a staple in the series as the female protagonist often visits it to talk to her late mother.
According to a regional guide website of VisitKorea , “Jumunjin Breakwater was built to protect the coastline from the effects of erosion and longshore drift. It became a popular attraction after its first appearance in the television drama Guardian (2016) as many visitors look forward to taking photos of a scene reenactment from the drama.”
Located in Gangneung-si, it is easily accessible from Jumunjin Port. However, it was lesser known until the scene became popular. One of the nearby tourist attractions is the BTS bus stand. Though the original one featured in their album You Never Walk Alone is not here anymore, a replica has been created for fans to take pictures.
Seoul Fortress Wall, Seoul
Featured in: Second Husband, Touch, My First First Love, Because This Is My First Life, Shining Inheritance
One of the iconic K-drama locations in Seoul, the Seoul Fortress Wall offers majestic views of the city. In the second episode of Touch , Han Soo-yeon (Kim Bo-ra) is seen sitting here, after browsing through job advertisements and hunting jobs.
This place brings the history of Seoul alive as it borders the city, which was previously known as Hanyang. According to UNESCO’s official website , “King Taejo, the founder of Joseon, designated Hanyang as the capital of the newly established dynasty in 1394. At his behest, the following buildings were constructed in 1395: Royal Palace; Jongmyo (Royal Ancestral Shrine); and Sajikdan (Altars for Earth and Grains).”
The approximately 19-km-long wall was built along the ridge of four inner mountains of Seoul namely Baegaksan, Naksan, Namsan and Inwangsan. Some parts of the historical place have been renovated, while others are reminders of damages that the wall has faced over the years. Nevertheless, it is a must-visit for not just K-drama fans but history buffs, too. It is located at Yulgok-ro in Jongno-gu district.
Deoksugung Palace (Stonewall Walkway), Seoul
Featured in: Lovestruck in the City, Run On, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, More Than Friends, Do You Like Brahms, Find Me In Your Memory, The Beauty Inside, Goblin, Misaeng
Fancy a walk with your special someone through a stonewall that is part of a palace, with tall trees and roads covered with dried leaves, especially during autumn? If yes, head straight to Deoksugung Palace Walkway in Sejongdaero, Jung-gu. One of the most well-known K-drama filming locations in the country, it is an extremely popular choice for shoots, especially for the creators of many Korean TV shows. Some of the famous tourist attractions nearby include the Seoul Museum of Art, Jeongdong Theatre and The Salvation Army Museum of History.
The characters Seo Do-jae (Lee Min-ki) and Han Se-gye (Seo Hyun-jin) from The Beauty Inside are seen taking a stroll through this pathway on their first date.
Dae Jang Geum Park, Gyeonggi-do
Featured in: Joseon Exorcist, Mr. Queen, Tale of the Nine-Tailed, Mystic Pop-Up Bar, The King: Eternal Monarch, The Tale of Nokdu, Hotel Del Luna, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, A Korean Odyssey, The Moon That Embraces the Sun, Jumong
Located at Yongin-si in Gyeonggi-do province, the Dae Jang Geum Park is one of those names that crop up whenever you think of historical K-dramas.
Travel back in time by visiting the theme park, which brings history and culture alive the moment you step inside. Add to it some upbeat cafes and the opportunity to wear the costumes of your favourite characters and get clicked. The filming set, owned by the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, is easily accessible from Seoul by taxi or local trains (metro subway).
Cheonggyecheon Stream, Seoul
Featured in: You Raise me Up, Vincenzo, True Beauty, Lovestruck in the City, Do You Like Brahms, Flowers of Evil, Find Me in Your Memory, Clean With Passion for Now, My Mister, Live Up To Your Name, Chicago Typewriter, Lovers in Prague
The stream is located at the square, which is based on the traditional Korean Bojagi design used for textiles. With unique architecture showcasing 22 bridges around the stream, it lights up in the evening and is a sight to behold. Another popular shooting spot in Seoul is Jung-gu. It is perfect for delightful romantic walks.
Cheonggyecheon is where Do Yong-sik (Yoon Si-yoon) walks hopelessly in You Raise Me Up , when he sees Do Ji-hyeok (Park Ki-woong) stepping out of his car.
Yonsei University (Sinchon Campus), Seoul
Featured in: Snowdrop, True Beauty, KBS Drama Special: Modern Girl, Men Are Men, When My Love Blooms, Extraordinary You, Abyss, Romance Is A Bonus Book, Age of Youth 2, Age of Youth I, Reply 1994, IRIS (2009), Brilliant Legacy, Over The Rainbow, Truth, Nonstop
Known as one of the top three prestigious universities of South Korea, of which Parasite director Bong Joon-ho is also an alumnus, Yonsei University is one of the preferred K-drama filming locations loved by directors.
Owing to its magnificent architecture, this location is chosen to shoot school and college scenes often. A museum built in honour of its founder Horace G Underwood is situated at the Underwood Hall in the Sinchon Campus.
Parts of this university have been featured in Snowdrop as Hosu Woman’s University, which is attended by Eun Yeong-ro (Kim Ji-soo). It is located at Sinchon-dong, Seoul.

BY Veruska Anconitano
13th Sep 2022 Places To Visit
More and more people are becoming addicted to Korean TV series. If you are one of them, take a look at 10 of the most iconic K-Drama filming locations to visit in South Korea
South Korean dramas have gained a broad audience both inside and outside of Korea , with many being exported to other countries where they have been met with great success.
Netflix’s Squid Game has only been the tip of the iceberg of a phenomenon called "Hallyu" that started at the beginning of the 21st century. Today, the popularity of South Korean dramas and the globalisation of Korean entertainment are amplified. Streaming platforms give this genre and its actors a new stage and new interest from a diverse worldwide audience.
"Here’s how to plan your K-Drama pilgrimage to the best filming spots in South Korea"
It's not surprising that these cultural assets play a huge role in promoting South Korean tourism as a whole. Whether you are a long-time fan of Korean dramas or a newbie to the fandom, here’s how to plan your K-drama pilgrimage to the best filming spots in South Korea, where you can recreate your favorite scenes in person.
Here are just a few of the most famous filming locations in South Korea that you can add to your itinerary. Remember, most spots are inhabited by residents or have cultural relevance, so being mindful and respectful is necessary.
1. Namsan Tower, Seoul
Namsan Tower is one of Seoul's most iconic landmarks and has been featured in countless Korean dramas over the years.
It offers 360-degree views of Seoul, and it is also said that on a clear day you can even see into North Korea. The Namsan Tower Observatory is open every day and at night. It's considered one of the most romantic places in the capital. Every day, Koreans go to the Namsan Tower and hang their " love padlock s" around the fence and railings surrounding the viewing deck.
You'll recognise this location if you're a fan of shows like True Beauty, Boys Over Flowers, My Love From Another Star, The Last Empress and more.
2. Bukchon Hanok Village, Seoul
Bukchon Hanok Village district is located in central Seoul and is one of the most famous Korean filming locations on our list. It is home to hundreds of traditional houses (or hanok ) that date back to the Joseon dynasty . Every little alley and traditional houses have been featured in at least one drama.
You won't fail to recognise Bukchon Hanok Village in My Roommate Is A Gumiho , Our Beloved Summer and Hotel del Luna, to name a few.
3. Itaewon, Seoul
We are still in Seoul (which deserves a filming locations guide of its own), and specifically in Itaewon, a young and trendy neighbourhood where the popular K-drama Itaewon Class was shot.
The bar where the drama DanBam was filmed is still there but the sign has been removed. Still, it is easy to spot if you’ve seen the show.
Overall, the streets of Itaewon and the area nearby Noksapyeong Station where Seoul Namsan Tower comes into view are incredible at night. The area is renewed for its excellent restaurants and places to stop for a drink.
4. Pohang, North Gyeongsang province
The lovely village of Pohang has been the filming location for one of the most successful Korean productions abroad, Hometown Cha Cha .
In the drama, the village was named Gongjin, but the seaside town is easily recognisable. Cheongjin 2-Ri Lighthouse is probably the most iconic location in the area, being the background for some of the two characters’ scenes.
5. Jeonju Hyanggyo, Jeonju, Jeollabukdo
Jeonju Hyanggyo is one of the most well-preserved historical sites in South Korea. It is located in Jeonju, a city that's a hub of tourism and the capital of North Jeolla Province.
Because of its well-preserved old buildings, Jeonju Hyanggyo is often used as a location for Goryeo and Joseon-era dramas. If you've watched the award-winning The Red Sleeve with Lee Jun-ho and Lee Se-young, you will immediately recognize the Hyanggyo.
6. Hocheon Village, Busan
Also known as "The Santorini of Korea" because of its colourful houses set against a mountain backdrop, Hocheon Village is a well-deserved stop when visiting South Korea.
"Even if you haven't watched any K-dramas, Hocheon Village is dazzling, especially at sunset"
It's also the filming location for the K-drama Fight For My Way , but even if you haven't watched the show or are not planning to watch it, Hocheon Village is dazzling, especially at sunset.
7. Jeju Island
This volcanic island off the coast of South Korea is a popular tourist destination for its natural beauty, including the Hallasan National Park and the lava tubes at Manjanggul Cave.
A scene from Crash Landing On You , set on Jeju Island
It's also been the setting for several K-dramas, such as the recent Our Blues and Crash Landing on You, or the classic Boys over Flowers .
8. Boseong Green Tea Plantation, Buseong County
Home to the oldest and largest tea gardens in South Korea, Boseong Green Tea Plantation has been extensively used as a filming location for The Legend of the Blue Sea.
A walk or hike on the property is an excellent way to breathe a bit of Korea’s history. Do not forget to treat yourself to some green tea ice cream!
9. Forest of Wisdom, Paju
Located in the heart of Paju Book City , a publishing community in Paju, north of Seoul, The Forest of Wisdom is a unique library open 24 hours a day and carrying over 200,000 donated books that can only be read inside.
Scene from Romance is a Bonus Book
If you've been following the latest K-drama mania, we're sure you've watched a handful of scenes from famous dramas being shot at this library . These include It's Okay to Not Be Okay, Romance is a Bonus Book, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Yumi's Cells, Sh**ting Stars and more.
10. Deoksugung Palace Stonewall Walkway, Seoul
Among the many filming locations in Seoul, a special mention goes to the Deoksugung Palace Stonewall Walkway , a 1.1 kilometre long walkway around Deoksugung Palace.
"Deoksugung-gil is considered one of the most romantic filming locations in the whole South Korea"
The area that is usually used to shoot is Deoksugung-gil, a street with a very broad sidewalk. It is considered one of the most romantic filming locations in the whole South Korea, and it's been used in hundreds of dramas. Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Beauty Inside, Goblin, Do You Like Brahms and Run On are just a few of the K-dramas filmed in this area.
