Introduction

The racket has a teardrop shape, medium balance, and a sweet spot located in the upper part of the impact surface. A higher density (30 kg/m3) Eva is used in the core and the frame is made of Japanese carbon fiber. It uses carbon fiber on the surface with an embossed 3D pattern.

Osaka Pro Tour Power 2020 first impressions

It’s our first experience with the brand Osaka, and we’re excited to see what it will bring. The first thing we notice is the rather unusual color combination. It seems to use quality materials, and the finish is good. We’re looking forward to trying it on the padel court. Our test racket weighs about 365 grams with one extra overgrip and the balance measures 240 mm. Considering it’s a power-oriented racket, the balance is low.

The Pro Tour Power is light, it feels even lighter than its 365 grams. It’s not your typical head heavy and sturdy power racket. Starting at the back of the court, we test the defensive capabilities of the racket. It’s easy to handle and move quickly into the right positions. The high-density core offers good control and precision. Due to the low elasticity, softer shots suffer and the margin of error isn’t that big. The overall impression in the defensive game is positive, better than expected from a power-oriented racket. Moving on to the attacking game, we feel that the Osaka Pro Tour Power doesn’t live up to its name. It’s light, got a low balance, and is hard. This means you will have to generate a lot of power on your own, without much help from the racket. Short volleys that require precision is fine, but the overall positive feeling in the attacking game is just not there. The size of the sweet spot is more or less as expected from a teardrop-shaped racket. The feel and overall touch is firm due to its high-density core, and suits players looking for firmness. Despite being hard, the Pro Tour Power absorbs vibrations effectively. We like the 3D pattern on the surface, it’s well made and helps generate spin when needed. It’s been an interesting experience trying this new brand. The overall quality is most certainly there but we didn’t fall in love with it on the padel court. We are looking forward to trying more products from Osaka in the future.

Osaka Pro Tour Power 2020 overall impression

A padel racket inspired by Japan for players that want to try something different than the typical padel brands. It’s marketed as a power-oriented racket but doesn’t have the properties we are looking for in this type of racket. We can only recommend the Pro Tour Power for experienced players knowing exactly what they are after. Try first.

We at Elitepadel have tested the Osaka padel racket and list in this article all the different models plus short presentations. 

Osaka is one of the fastest growing padel brands on the market, and we’re glad we got the chance to test play with three different models a while back.

Osaka Pro Tour Limited Edition Soft

A padel racket named for its softer, gentler feel on the arm. With its medium-hard core and slightly lower than the average weight of 355-375 grams, it is easier for the player to handle and at the same time very helpful for offensive play. It is a drop-shaped model with medium balance and a large sweetspot, which is also great for putting speed on the balls. The roughened surface will help the experienced player with placing a great spin on the balls.

Osaka Pro Tour Limited Edition

This model has many similarities to its soft sibling. It is a drop-shaped model with a mid-level balance point and a large sweetspot, and together it gives the player a great advantage in offensive play. However, this racket is slightly heavier and its core is stiffer. It will provide even more power and control on the ball, as it slams into the right spot on the racket. On the other hand, this may inflict a higher risk of strain on the player’s arm.

Osaka Pro Tour Precision

A model of Osaka’s padel racket that has been designed to be more of an all-round racket. A round-shaped model with a smooth balance and a softer core provides good control in the game and is gentle on the player’s muscles and joints. The roughened hitting surface can influence good spin on the balls.

Osaka Vision Pro Power Soft

A padel racket that is kind to the player’s muscles and joints, as it has a relatively lightweight feel, soft core, and medium balance. This, together with a large sweetspot and the drop-shaped model, makes it suitable for skilled intermediate and advanced players who like offensive play. The soft core and stiff frame provide the game with both control and speed. Players with enough experience can take advantage of the roughened wooden surface to get some curve balls away.

Osaka Vision Pro Power

A padel racket with a hard surface and core, to give more power to the balls and stability to the racket. Its weight is between 370 and 390 grams, and there is some extra weight on it to provide the player with extra power in their hits. In order for the frame to be stable without making the racket heavier, it is equipped with 50 percent Japanese carbon and 50 percent carbon fiber.

Osaka Vision Power

A drop-shaped padel racket designed primarily for beginners. However, it can also benefit those who want a bit of everything from their racket. As the balance is evenly distributed on this model, you can take advantage of characteristics both in terms of speed and control. This is especially nice for the beginner or those with weaker muscles and joints, as it is lighter in weight and the hitting surface is made of fiberglass.

Osaka Vision Precision

The larger sweetspot on this model of padel racket makes it even easier for the player to control the direction of the ball, while at the same time making it easier for the player to get a grip on the ball thanks to a roughened hitting surface. It is easy to play with, both because of its lighter weight as well as a better combination of a stiff frame and well-controlled padel racket.

• Recommended player performance level: Beginners / Amateurs
• Suitable for the type of player: Offensive players 

Osaka Vision Deshi

An easy-to-play padel racket with a large sweetspot and a low balance point. The player gains better control of their racket and at the same time, the game is more gentle on the player’s muscles and joints. Both the frame and the hitting surface are made of the soft material fiberglass, so it produces softer hits.

• Suitable for the player type: all-round

Osaka Deshi Vision Kids

This model for the younger players is narrower than the adult model and has a lighter weight of 280-300 grams. It is a children’s racket that is also gently designed, with a large sweetspot and low balance point. It will be easier for players to get a good hit and the hits will not inflict too much stress on them and their joints.

Short Description

The Pro Tour range has been developed using some of the highest quality materials and this is exactly what we see with the Power Snap model by Osaka. This   Padel Racket boasts an impressive 18k Carbon Fiber Face which is coupled with the snap foam core giving it ample power through the ball.

Osaka World was founded with the commitment to fuse sports heritage with lifestyle. They have taken inspiration from Japanese culture and design to now produce some of the top performing Padel Equipment to date. The Osaka Padel Rackets and gear are not only top quality but also aesthetically appealing which we tend to agree with. So when it comes to  Padel Balls , rackets and other Padel Accessories  you know you in good company with Osaka. And the Vision Pro series is no exception. 

The core of this racket is constructed with the Trademarked Osaka Snap Foam, which is designed to expand the sweet spot and give you extra power. Compared to Osaka's Touch Foam, the Snap Foam is slightly lighter and more 'bouncy' to give you more trampoline effect and punch. The core is then surrounded by a double stage frame construction, which consists of two distinct stages. In the first stage, the frame is formed using a twin-tube frame moulding process which   creates the stiffest, most durable frames structure to date. While in the second stage, the foam is then added into the frame and the face fabrics are applied. This double stage process has allowed Osaka to produce thinner frames with the same properties as their thicker counterparts. The width of these frames varies between 6-9mm. The frame and core are then covered with the highly coveted 18K Textreme carbon. The Textreme carbon is a spread tow fabric built to the highest standards.  Spread tow fabrics are smoother and flatter than traditional woven cloth fabrics that offer a more consistent playing experience at a lower weight.

But that's not all, the frame is also further protected by a beautifully designed and shaped clear TPU bumper,   this bumper has a maximum depth of 2,5mm and weighs around 11 grams. Giving you added protection against impacts with a low added weight. Lastly, the face is finished with a sand surface coating which is  a finishing process that has been used for over a decade, in this process resin coated sand particles are   sprayed onto the surface of the rackets. These sand particles form tiny holds for the felt fibres on Padel Balls that further increase   the spin applied to the ball with each contact.

Samenvatting en conclusies

De Osaka Pro Tour Power Frame / Soft Touch biedt een goede combinatie tussen power bij aanvallende slagen en output bij verdedigende slagen. Het racket voelt, ondanks dat het ‘Soft Touch’ in de naam heeft, vrij stug aan. Dit komt doordat het racketblad is gemaakt van 3k carbon en het frame stevig is. Deze stugheid zorgt ervoor dat je aanvallende ballen gemakkelijk zijn te slaan en je deze scherp en gecontroleerd kunt plaatsen. Bij verdedigend spel hadden we, ondanks de goede output, het gevoel iets minder controle te hebben over de plaatsing van de ballen. Dit kan ook komen door de kleine sweetspot, waardoor de bal lastiger goed te raken is. Vanwege de balans in het midden is dit racket niet heel wendbaar, waardoor het bij harde onverwachte ballen redelijk lastig is het racket goed achter de bal te krijgen,

Voor gevorderde spelers met een allround speelstijl is de Osaka Pro Tour Power Frame / Soft Touch een goed tot erg goed padelracket. Het biedt een goede combinatie tussen power, controle en output. Het racket is door de kleine sweetspot minder geschikt voor spelers van beginnend tot gemiddeld (intermediate) niveau.

Het racket komt in twee kleuren: Aqua Blue (op foto) en Iconic Black (met groen).

De Osaka Pro Tour Power Frame / Soft Touch is gemaakt voor spelers met een allround speelstijl: het racket heeft een druppelvorm en een balans in het midden van het racket.

Het racketblad is gemaakt van 3k carbon en de binnenkant van Medium Density EVA Foam. Door de combinatie van deze materialen voelt het racket stug maar toch comfortabel aan. Hierdoor biedt het padelracket een goede combinatie tussen power, controle en output. Het racketblad heeft voldoende textuur, waardoor het geen enkel probleem is ballen met effect te slaan.

Achter in het veld

Spelend in het achterveld voel je dat het racket vrij veel power geeft aan de slagen. In situaties waarbij je de bal meer vaart wilt meegeven is dat met dit racket geen enkel probleem. Daarnaast zorgt de wat zachtere binnenkant voor een goede output. De output is de snelheid waarmee ballen van het racket komen bij slagen waar weinig kracht of techniek achter zit. Daardoor kun je met dit racket de bal genoeg snelheid meegeven in situaties waarbij je een lastigere bal krijgt, bijvoorbeeld bij een lob of een andere verdedigende bal. De sweetspot van het racket is relatief klein, waardoor het lastiger kan zijn om ballen goed te raken.

Aan het net

De Osaka Pro Tour Power Frame / Soft Touch is een prettig racket aan het net. Volleys kun je goed controleren en eenvoudig voldoende diep in het veld krijgen. Echt aanvallende ballen, zoals smashes, kun je met redelijk veel power slaan. Wel hebben écht aanvallende rackets nog net iets meer power. De Pro Tour heeft namelijk een balans in het midden, waardoor de snelheid van een slag niet zo erg wordt vergroot als bij aanvallende padelrackets met het gewicht nog meer richting de top van het blad (klik hier voor een meer gedetailleerde uitleg). Daarnaast hebben echt aanvallende rackets een hardere binnenkant. De hanteerbaarheid van het racket is redelijk, maar het kan soms lastig zijn het racket snel te bewegen om toch goed achter een harde onverwachte bal te krijgen. Het racket voelt erg comfortabel aan.

Osaka Pro Tour Power Soft is a teardrop shape racket . Osaka has redesigned the traditional shape featuring elements to give it more structural stability as well as longevity. The frame itself features a 3D geometric side profile, shaped to provide extra stiffness without adding weight. It features a traditional Japanese woven carbon face which they have used and developed for nearly a decade.

OSAKA - Pro Tour Power Touch

Description.

The Osaka Pro Tour range is constructed using 18K Textreme Carbon Fibre, which is a spread tow material built to the highest standards. Spread tow fabrics are smoother and flatter than traditional woven cloth fabrics that offer a more consistent playing experience at a reduced weight.

The Pro Tour Power Touch is a Teardrop shaped racket ideal for more offensive-oriented players. The higher position of the sweet spot ensures that well-struck smashes are rewarded with fantastic power, without compromising on the control. 

The rough surface will give you great spin on all of your shots and the EVA soft rubber will ensure a comfortable strike on any ball.  

This racket comes with a racket cover.
