In case you plan to skip the whole stressing over a big dinner thing.
So, put away Grandma’s pumpkin pie recipe , break out those weekenders , and fire up your out of office. We’ve combed all of the USA to find 15 of the best places to go for Thanksgiving. Where are you headed?
Bend, Oregon
300 days of sunshine make this picturesque, small city on the Deschutes River a favorite of outdoor adventure lovers. But aside from exploring the high desert and the Cascades Range, there’s also a dozen craft breweries to sample, plus top-quality art museums and galleries. Hotel Signature Bend is an affordable, yet uber-chic spot to post up for the holiday.
Asheville, North Carolina
This charming city in the Blue Ridge Mountains has long been known for its bucket-list breweries, thriving art scene, stunning drives, hikes, and Biltmore, America’s largest home , built by George Vanderbilt. The late fall is an ideal time to visit: temperatures are mild, the travel rates are the best of the year, and it’s easier than any other season to land hard-to-get restaurant reservations, with plenty of outdoor seating available for those looking for it. Snag a room at Kimpton’s Hotel Arras , a 128-room boutique hotel that's perfectly located downtown so you can easily stroll to the area's many breweries, but has a romantic outdoor bar with a fire table so couples who prefer cocktails can say in. If you are in town for the microbrews, don't skip the pumpkin ale at Catawba or the taco truck at Rabbit, Rabbit .
Branson, Missouri
If holiday cheer is your thing, there's probably nowhere better in the country to get your fix than Branson. The destination is even known as America’s Christmas Tree City, with over 1,700 trees that are already sparkling starting at the beginning of November. Bring the wilderness indoors with a stay at Big Cedar Lodge , which features on-site fishing and five golf courses. They’ll also be hosting their annual Tom Turkey scavenger hunt the day after Thanksgiving: families get to explore the whole property while hunting for clues.
Texas Hill Country
Texans have a special place in their heart for this region, which stretches over the central and southern portions of the state. It’s not hard to see why: there are beautiful rolling hills, bubbling spring-fed rivers, and of course, some of the best barbecue in the whole country . The entire family will be happy at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa , which is located just 20 minutes outside of Austin. The 4,000 acres are perfect for social distancing, and amenities include seven restaurants, four golf courses (plus mini for the kids!), and s’mores served every night at sunset.
Hudson, New York
Sometimes dubbed “Brooklyn North,” this vibrant city in the state’s Hudson Valley is beloved for its phenomenal farm-to-table restaurants, hip art galleries and furniture stores, and easy access to the region’s many hiking trails, including the 736-acre Greenport Conservation Area . Design-loving couples will dig newly opened The Maker Hotel , which features 11 rooms fitted with velvet throws and local art, as well as a restaurant housed inside a glass conservatory.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
While this town may be best known for its skiing, its close proximity to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks truly makes it ideal for anyone who loves natural beauty. The late-fall “shoulder season” is an ideal time to visit: the weather is dry, the National Parks are still open but without the crowds, and you might even get to see the yearly elk bugling (Google it). Book a stay at The Lodge at Jackson Hole , which boasts an all-season indoor-outdoor pool, plus chic rooms outfitted in a classic Western style.
Palm Springs, California
November is an ideal time to visit this colorful city in the Sonoran Desert, where temperatures hover in the high 70s and there is zero rainfall. Spend your days ogling midcentury modern architecture, hiking in stunning Joshua Tree National Park, or taking a high-flying ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway . For an adults-only escape, look into the affordable and design-forward Villa Royale , but families will love the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells , which includes two new dueling 30-foot waterslides and a 450-foot lazy river.
San Diego, California
Located on the Pacific coast and absolutely crammed with beaches, picture-perfect parks, and some of the best Mexican restaurants north of the border, it’s little wonder this city is popular with everyone from families, to retirees, to honeymooners. After a visit to the world-class San Diego Zoo , catch some zzz's at the eco-friendly Pearl Hotel in Point Loma, or the Pendry San Diego , which boasts five separate dining spaces.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
There is no passport necessary for this Caribbean getaway. While the whole island is full of beautiful beaches, intriguing tropical forests, and historical sites, the perfect base is the capital city of San Juan. There, you can not only explore the romantic streets of Old San Juan, but access the dreamy sands of Condado and Isla Verde beaches. Stay at the centrally located Condado Vanderbilt Hotel , a recently restored resort originally built in 1919. Holiday programming includes gingerbread cookie decorating for the kids, and how to make the island-favorite mojito cocktail for adults.
South County, Rhode Island
Newport may be the most well-known getaway in Rhode Island, but don’t sleep on the South County area. Enclaves like Watch Hill and Weekapaug offer tranquil ocean views, superb seafood (don’t miss the Rhode Island-favorite stuffies ), and plenty of water activities like boating and fishing. Book a stay at the family-friendly Weekapaug Inn or at The Break Hotel in Narragansett for a chic, beach house-vibe. And for a special holiday treat, visit Ocean House’s Fondue Village , which will transport you to Switzerland for an afternoon.
South Walton, Florida
Located on the state’s splendid Gulf Coast, South Walton is a peaceful and relatively under-the-radar locale that’s ideal for Thanksgiving getaways. The area’s 16 beach towns were all purposely built to be less dense than other Floridian beaches, plus 40 percent of the land here is preserved, making for over 200 miles of hiking and biking trails. Spend your holiday at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort & Spa , which is perched directly on the white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. Two pools, family suites with bunk beds, and an affordable rate will make for a (hopefully) stress-free Thanksgiving.
Traverse City, Michigan
The late fall is a wonderful time to visit this city “Up North” on the shores of Lake Michigan: There’s generally enough snow to ski or snowshoe, but it’s also temperate enough to explore the charming town. Visitors can also take advantage of a number of seasonal promotions , which offers discounted rates on hotels, as well as a savings on dining, wineries, and shopping. Spend the night at Tamarack Lodge , which has the feel of an old-school grand lodge and is located right on the shores of East Grand Traverse Bay.
Tucson, Arizona
Another sun-drenched city, Tucson has a whopping 350 days of sunshine a year, not to mention some of the best stargazing in the country and hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. But, if nature isn’t your thing, Tucson was also named the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in 2015, which basically means you can’t go wrong with any restaurant in town. There's no shortage of accommodations—rent an Airbnb or heck out newly-opened The Tuxon for your holiday getaway, a modern boutique hotel in the heart of the city.
Litchfield County, Connecticut
There are few places more beautiful in the fall than New England, and none may be as picturesque as this lush area of northwestern Connecticut. Located an easy driving distance from many East Coast cities, it’s famed for its rolling hills, charming towns, and loads of historical sites. Gilmore Girls fans also know it as the bucolic setting for the show, and the Mayflower Inn & Spa as the inspiration for The Independence Inn, where Lorelai worked in early seasons.
Williamsburg, Virginia
This historic pocket of Virginia between the York and James Rivers may be best known for Colonial Williamsburg , but there are plenty of other activities in the area if you’re not a Revolutionary War buff. Artisanal breweries and distilleries abound, the Williamsburg Premium Outlets are a perfect way to jumpstart holiday shopping, and scenic hikes like the Powhatan Creek Trail are peaceful this time of year. The Williamsburg Lodge, Autograph Collection is an ideal place to stay for Thanksgiving.

Escape the holiday hoopla, and be grateful for a far-from-home getaway.
Ah, Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie, roasted turkey, football games and time with friends and family are top draws for celebrating the time-honored holiday at home. But if the prospect of navigating crowded airport terminals and bumper-to-bumper traffic to spend time with extended family and engaging in contentious political discussions (or cooking the bird and all the trimmings) has you pining for an alternative escape, fret not. With some help from seasoned travel pros, we've pinpointed unexpected places to spend a stress-free Thanksgiving. So ditch the turkey, gravy and green bean casserole for a sunny locale, urban retreat or snowy getaway over the long weekend.
Budapest, Hungary
For deal-chasers, "Europe is the place to go over Thanksgiving," says Wendy Perrin, founder and editor of travel-planning site WendyPerrin.com. Autumn marks a low season, yet the weather is still comfortable and rates are relatively less expensive compared to spring and summer. And in Budapest , you can admire striking architecture, soak in heated thermal baths and embrace European charm and Hungarian culinary specialties at charming cafes around Castle Hill. Best of all, in Budapest, you can start your holiday shopping early at brightly lit Christmas markets. Pick up a few gifts and admire the dazzling light displays at the Christmas Fair at Basilica (beginning on Black Friday), and the Christmas Market on Vorosmarty Square.
Park City, Utah
If you're longing for a winter wonderland, consider forgoing apple pie this Thanksgiving for some quality time on the slopes and around a roaring fire in Park City's snow-globe-like setting. Over the holiday weekend, there are plenty of festive, kid-friendly traditions at top resorts in the area, from cookie decorating to tree-lighting ceremonies. And with ski season beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 22, powder seekers can tackle well-groomed trails at Park City Mountain Resort before checking out the charming shops and eateries in Canyons Village and strolling along Main Street. Thrill-seekers can also enjoy exhilarating bends and curves on a toboggan-style bobsled ride at Utah Olympic Park.
Itching for a warm-weather escape? If you're looking for a mix of adventure and relaxation – from wildlife-viewing to an adrenaline-pumping zip line above Monteverde's Cloud Rainforest to lounging in a hammock beneath swaying palms – Costa Rica is an ideal escape. While you'll be visiting at the tail end of rainy season, you can take advantage of a few off-season benefits. Aside from fewer tourist crowds and verdant landscapes, you can also secure discounted lodging rates and flights. Plus, you can swap stuffing and mashed potatoes for fresh fruit and morning yoga sessions, and embrace Costa Rica's "pura vida" (pure life) philosophy with wellness-minded activities and nutritious cuisine.
Whether you want to lounge on golden sands, hike along the Blue Mountains or climb the legendary Dunn's River Falls waterfall, there are plenty of ways to embrace Jamaica's picturesque Caribbean scenery and laid-back vibes. "Hurricane season officially ends November 30, so traveling on or before Thanksgiving means you'll be catching the final low rates of the Caribbean's shoulder season before the snowbirds arrive," says Lindsey Olander, editor at travel site Jetsetter.com. Even better, in November and December, temperatures hover in the 70s and mid-80s, and you can secure discounted resort rates. "For sun-seekers, I'd recommend Jamaica in November, which was (thankfully) spared from recent hurricanes," Olander adds.
Quebec City
If you can't make it to France this fall, you can still enjoy a European-inspired setting and plenty of charm in Quebec City , Perrin says. Francophiles and foodies alike can delight in French-inspired gastronomy at top dining institutions. Plus, the centuries-old structures and quaint cobblestone streets and bistros add to the city's enchanting atmosphere. History buffs can check out Battlefields Park, the Citadel and the Notre-Dame Basilica, while nature lovers can stroll along the serene Terrasse Dufferin. And although temperatures dip into the 30s and 50s at this time of year, you can still admire brilliant maple trees and seize upon shoulder-season discounts.
Asheville, North Carolina
While Asheville may conjure images of microbreweries and the awe-inspiring Blue Ridge Parkway, there's much more to experience over Thanksgiving. Along with temperatures hovering in the mid-50s and 70s, "you've got the fall foliage," Perrin says, with peak leaf-peeping opportunities in early November. Plus, there's the 8,000-acre, decked-out Biltmore Estate, which has a unique history and elaborate holiday displays. Perrin suggests checking out the dazzling wreaths, lights and decorated evergreens at the annual Christmas at Biltmore Daytime Celebration. What's more, you can check out the intricate winning entries from a national gingerbread competition at the Omni Grove Park Inn, Perrin adds.
For a winning mix of culture, history and modern allures, set your sights on Amsterdam for the holiday weekend. You can brush up on the past at the Leiden American Pilgrim Museum Foundation in Leiden, Holland, located near the Dutch capital. After getting a history lesson, visit world-class museums throughout Amsterdam, from the Van Gogh Museum to the Anne Frank House. If you don't mind chilly temperatures in the 40s, November also marks an enticing time to visit, given reduced crowds and plenty of flight and accommodation deals. Make the most of your trip by enjoying a canal-lined stroll and carving out some time to unwind in Vondelpark.
The Big Island, Hawaii
"Hawaii is usually a really great deal in the fall," Perrin says. You can spend your days trekking through tropical rainforests, lounging on black sands at Punaluu Beach, exploring state parks and hiking captivating volcanoes. Catching sight of the fiery lava at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a must, as is checking out a quintessential luau, snorkeling and admiring the views from Mauna Kea. With daytime temperatures in the high 60s to low 80s and low-priced accommodations (including resorts with kid-friendly amenities), November marks an ideal time to visit. Even better, you can feast on traditional Thanksgiving culinary offerings at resorts throughout the island.
Whistler, Canada
Whether you want to enjoy the early ski season – along with enticing gear and accommodation deals as well as faster lift lines – or you're looking to embrace Whistler 's still-pleasant temperatures in the 40s and 50s, you won't mind forgoing turkey for days on the slopes. The official ski season kicks off Nov. 23, and since Thanksgiving in Canada takes place in October, you won't have to worry about battling heavy crowds. Check out the charming pedestrian-only Village Stroll in Whistler Village, and pop into galleries, shops and restaurants to charge up for more adventurous cold-weather activities. When you're ready to get your heart racing, enjoy snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing and other active pursuits.
The Cotswolds, England
"The Cotswolds region in south-central England is beautiful any time of year, but arguably it's most picturesque in the fall, when the ivy blanketing its tiny towns and cottages turns brilliant red and yellow hues, and residents begin throwing logs in their stone fireplaces," Olander says. You won't miss home as you explore the area's striking walking trails, like the 102-mile long Cotswold Way National Trail, which weaves past beautiful hills, quaint villages and storied churches. "Restaurants here may not serve your family’s traditional Thanksgiving spread, but their home-cooked, often farm-to-table dishes hit the spot," Olander adds. What's more, there are plenty of affordable inns to pick from, making it easy to keep your budget intact.
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Picture the Cape, and serene sands, clam shacks and shingled cottages likely come to mind. But while the warmer months offer an enticing beach break for East Coasters, the shoulder season offers its own draws: reduced crowds and attractive packages. If you can brave the crisp temperatures, with daytime highs in the 40s and 50s, you can enjoy a historic setting and traditional Thanksgiving meal, Perrin says. The peak foliage season will have wrapped up, but you can embrace peaceful surroundings. Immerse yourself in nature on one of the Cape's scenic trails along the Cape Cod National Seashore before refueling with clam chowder and unwinding in a budget-friendly bed-and-breakfast or inn.
Scottsdale, Arizona
For a warm-weather holiday break with desert scenery, high-end resorts and postcard-worthy landscapes, consider Scottsdale. You can indulge at a decadent spa (think: prickly pear and honey-infused body treatments), kick back in a poolside cabana or commune with nature and enjoy mountain biking and hiking at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. For more recreation, check out the nearby Camelback Mountain. After getting your adrenaline fix, refuel with a memorable meal at an acclaimed restaurant such as Virtù or Roaring Fork. Best of all, in late November, you'll avoid summer's scorching triple-digit temperatures and likely land a reasonably priced rate at a top resort before the peak winter season.
"A trip to Iceland might not seem so practical in November, but if you don't mind being a bit cold, it's a perfect place to get away," Olander says. The low season ushers in dwindling crowds, discounted accommodation rates and the opportunity to explore Iceland's can't-miss cold-weather attractions, she explains. Highlights include soaking in the otherworldly Blue Lagoon, exploring icy glaciers and bar-hopping in Reykjavik. "And what could be more magical than catching the northern lights?" she adds, emphasizing that the winter months mark an ideal time to catch the natural phenomenon, as the skies are darkest and clearest. For more adventure, join the Golden Circle tour.
Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia
Make the pilgrimage to Colonial Williamsburg, and you'll feel like you've stepped back in time, Perrin says. Learn about the country's revolutionary heritage with the "Come, Ye Thankful People Come" event at the Hennage Auditorium, when Cliff Williams and John Turner re-enactors recite Thanksgiving songs and hymns the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If you have a sweet tooth, don't forget to pick up a pecan, apple, pumpkin, rum cream or apple-cranberry pie at Raleigh Tavern Bakery. For more of a history lesson, make your way to Jamestown to delight in Foods and Feasts of Colonial Virginia – a three-day extravaganza that recounts how traditional Revolution-era meals were prepped and other historical details.
Charleston, South Carolina
For a fun holiday weekend, flee to Charleston for an old-fashioned, all-American atmosphere, Perrin says. Temperatures hover in the 60s and 70s, ideal conditions for exploring can't-miss attractions and antebellum architecture throughout the city, from the Nathaniel Russell House to Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. Plus, you can delight in a memorable Thanksgiving meal at one of the city's acclaimed restaurants, she adds. When you're not enjoying a Spanish moss-canopied stroll or taking a horse-drawn carriage in the Historic District, you can pop into charming boutiques along King Street. Best of all, there are plenty of holiday happenings, including the annual Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park and the Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble 5K.
New Orleans
The Big Easy delivers more than jazz, blues, beignets, Sazeracs and stellar po'boys. You can join the fray in the French Quarter before feasting on a Cajun-inspired turkey day staple: turducken (a turkey stuffed with chicken and duck), typically paired with cornbread and gravy. For more holiday festivities, attend the Bayou Classic Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. And when you need a respite, meander through the Garden District. Already dreaming of a white Christmas? Admire the dazzling displays during the annual Celebration in the Oaks in City Park, when bright lights adorn hundreds of oaks throughout the park, beginning Nov. 24.
Gorgeous weather year-round makes San Diego an alluring beach break at any time, Perrin says, but in autumn, tourist crowds and accommodation rates drop. And while the Southern Californian retreat may be more renowned as a microbrewery mecca and low-key surf town, it's easy to pull off a family-friendly holiday getaway – complete with beachside lounging, hiking at Torrey Pines and exploring Balboa Park – without busting your budget. For those looking to get into the Thanksgiving spirit, there are a variety of turkey trot 5K races and feasts throughout the city. At the famous Hotel del Coronado, for example, you can enjoy a pre-fixe Thanksgiving meal with live music.
Florence, Italy
With low-season crowds (and prices), Europe's cultural meccas beckon to those looking for a world-class weekend getaway over the holiday, Perrin says. In Florence, you can check out world-renowned art institutions like the Uffizi Gallery without battling swarms of tourists. Plus, you can score tickets to top theater and opera performances. Even better, when you're not admiring iconic art, you can escape to the enchanting hills of Tuscany, leisurely sip distinguished bottles of Chianti and soak in the city's sophisticated restaurant and shopping scenes. And though you can expect chillier temperatures in the 40s and 50s, if you don't mind the crisp weather, you'll be rewarded with off-season hotel rates and shorter attraction lines.
Savannah, Georgia
With antebellum architecture, horse-drawn carriages, Spanish moss-lined streets and historical treasures, Savannah delivers on Southern charm. And in mid-November, you can take advantage of shoulder-season discounts, pleasant temperatures in the 50s to 70s and even a twinkling tree-lighting ceremony followed by the Boat Parade of Lights on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Take in more of the city's genteel charms on Black Friday as you explore the City Market, check out River Street or people-watch in photogenic Forsyth Park in the Historic District. What's more, over the long weekend, you can count on mouthwatering low country cuisine, from shrimp and grits at Cotton & Rye to biscuit buns and scones at Back in the Day Bakery.
Joshua Tree National Park, California
If you're itching to embrace the great outdoors over the holiday break, Joshua Tree National Park packs plenty of dry air, desert scenery and spectacular hikes, Perrin says. For postcard-worthy views, make your way to Keys View lookout. Fuss-free, frugal-minded vacationers seeking cost-effective accommodations may consider an Airstream (via Airbnb) at Kate's Lazy Desert near the park entrance, while campers can stake out a spot at one of the 44 sites at Hidden Valley Campground, which offers easy access to top trails. Best of all, the park's striking desert landscapes and two distinct ecosystems – the Colorado and the Mojave – are 140 miles west of Los Angeles. Skip shopping on Black Friday to join a ranger-led program or take a hike.

Santa Barbara, California
Santa Barbara's consistently pleasant temperatures in the mid-50s and upper 60s, reduced nightly room rates and mix of fashionable boutiques and acclaimed restaurants appeal to those craving an escape-it-all getaway far from the holiday stress back home. Grape-seekers can enjoy leisurely wine tastings and gallery-hopping at the Funk Zone, while shoppers stroll along State Street to stock up on holiday presents. When you're not attending a yoga class, you can enjoy strolls along the harbor in the dubbed "American Riviera" before delighting in a farm-to-table meal at an acclaimed dining institution such as Brophy Bros, The Lark or Opal Restaurant & Bar.

Whether you want to explore ornate palaces, catch an opera or peruse an elaborate Christmas market, Austria's cosmopolitan capital is a great choice for the holiday weekend, Perrin says. After all, you won't miss stuffing or Black Friday shopping as you savor roasted chestnuts, seasonal delights and handcrafted goods beneath twinkling lights at the Viennese Christmas Market outside City Hall. A number of Christmas markets and cultural happenings take place throughout Thanksgiving weekend, Perrin adds. The Viennnese Christmas market begins on Nov. 18, and the Christmas Village Belvedere Palace begins on Nov. 24. And while temperatures dip, if you can brave the 30- and 40-degree temperatures, you can score reasonably priced accommodations in November.
Lisbon, Portugal
While Lisbon lures travelers with its bargain-friendly rates and affordable attractions year-round, in fall you can embrace thinning crowds and comfortable temperatures lingering in the 50s and 70s through the end of November. Visit Alfalma to admire in the city's elaborate tile-laden sidewalks. Next, make the pilgrimage to postcard-worthy Sintra to admire picturesque villas and palaces along the hilly cobblestone streets. When you're ready to refuel, savor an authentic Portuguese meal followed by a pasteis de nata – a sweet custard pastry and an enticing alternative to pumpkin pie. At the end of the day, retire to one of Lisbon's affordable boutique hotels or take in iconic fado music in the Alfalma district.
Newport, Rhode Island
For an idyllic New England getaway with coastal scenery and fall colors, plan your escape to Newport. While temperatures can dip into the 30s, you can take advantage of thinning tourist crowds and plenty of pampering. At the enchanting Castle Hill Inn, there's an elaborate Thanksgiving spread – complete with littleneck clams, turkey and pie. Plus, with the Thanksgiving Package promotion, you can enjoy a two-night stay, a Thanksgiving feast, breakfast and afternoon tea – along with a half bottle of Cabernet – at a fixed rate. For more activity, check out the shops along Thames Street and take a brisk stroll along the Cliff Walk trail before warming up by a crackling fire at The Chanler.
Miami Beach
Celebrate the long weekend with some quality time catching up on R & R by the pool, the beach or at top shopping meccas on a sunny escape to Miami Beach. Thanks to swift recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma, major hotels, resorts, museums, nightlife venues and shops are open for business. Whether you want to check out striking art deco buildings on Ocean Drive, rent a beach chair on South Beach or simply stay put in a cabana at your hotel, there are plenty of ways to unwind and dodge the holiday routine (and countless hours of meal prep). What's more, you can embrace an American feast and celebrate the holiday at acclaimed restaurants without lifting a finger. At StripSteak by Michael Mina at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, for example, you can enjoy holiday staples such as glazed carrots and roasted turkey.
Richmond, Virginia
With its storied sites, Southern charm and burgeoning culinary scene, Richmond is an enticing Thanksgiving escape for foodies, culture vultures, history lovers and outdoorsy types alike. Along with trendy art- and design-centric hotels like the Quirk Hotel, there are plenty of opportunities to embrace the great outdoors. Cross the James River to Belle Isle for a memorable bike ride or picnic, or enjoy blazing fall colors in Shenandoah National Park (about 90 miles west of Richmond off Interstate 64). And if you opt for a history-filled vacation, get a sense of Richmond's genteel attractions like the Jefferson Hotel and the Valentine Museum. When you're ready to refuel, enjoy traditional Southern cuisine – including fried chicken and biscuits with sausage gravy – at The Roosevelt.
Portland, Maine
For a mix of requisite New England charm and history, it's hard to match Portland. You can admire the area's craggy coastlines, Victorian homes and picturesque Portland Head Light before retracing pilgrims' footsteps and heading to Popham Colony, an early American settlement that some believe was formed in 1607, before Plymouth Rock in 1620. Set along the Kennebunk River, approximately 25 miles northeast of Portland, the colony features a boulder with the sign "Popham Rock." For modern allures, base yourself in Portland and retreat to the Press Hotel before enjoying a leisurely meal. The Holy Donut and the Highroller Lobster Co. are a couple of must-visit eateries. Cap off your feast with a pub crawl in the East Bayside neighborhood.
Pink-hued sands, world-renowned golf courses and captivating oceanfront scenery offer the perfect antidote to the holiday grind. And while the weather in this mid-Atlantic island will be chillier at this time of year, with daytime temperatures hovering in the 60s and 70s, you'll be rewarded with reduced accommodation rates. Whether you want to explore unspoiled coral reefs, hit the links at Port Royal Golf Course or enjoy leisurely strolls in historic St. George – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – you'll be grateful for some time in the sun rather than making the pilgrimage to your in-laws' house. What's more, you can enjoy duty-free shopping or pampering at the spa before savoring a traditional rum-infused cocktail and delicious Bermudian culinary specialties (sampling traditional fish chowder is a must).
In November, London draws visitors with its festive Christmas markets, mild daytime temperatures, colorful autumn foliage and enticing flight and hotel deals ahead of the peak winter tourist season. If you're a history buff, you can catch the acclaimed hit musical "Hamilton" at Victoria Palace Theatre throughout November. What's more, culture seekers can explore can't-miss institutions such as the National Gallery, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. For more time outdoors, explore lively Borough Market or meander to Notting Hill's Portobello Road Market to pick up vintage gifts and classic English antiques. For more world-class shopping, head to Oxford Street. And if you're feeling nostalgic for a traditional Thanksgiving feast, you'll find quintessential American trimmings like pumpkin pie and roasted turkey at top restaurants throughout the city.
Annapolis, Maryland
With striking coastal scenery along the Chesapeake Bay, delicious blue crabs and crisp autumn air, Annapolis offers a refreshing change of scenery. Admire the colonial architecture and cobblestone streets in Historic Annapolis before grabbing a bite at one of the area's fine dining establishments (Cantler's Riverside Inn, O'Learys Seafood Restaurant and Chick & Ruth's Delly are longstanding crowd-pleasers). And on Black Friday, after you stroll along the city's charming brick streets, peruse the boutique shops and galleries along Main Street in Historic Annapolis to pick up a few holiday gifts. Afterward, visit Dock Street in Ego Alley to people-watch on a bench, grab a bite to eat and admire the sailboats bobbing in the water.

Thanksgiving
Gobble wobble here.
The Thanksgiving holidays are a time to gather up the family and have a multi-generational vacation. And after nearly two years of keeping socially distant, with vaccines and continued health precautions, you might just be able to make those big reunion plans come true. But where to gather? What are the best Thanksgiving travel destinations for families?
That all depends on the majority of your visitors' current location. Some families may choose to drive to the nearest vacation spot . Others might spring for flights to a resort or large Airbnb. Either way, you’ll want to choose a Thanksgiving travel destination that offers plenty of diversions appealing to every member of the family. Fortunately, the U.S. has lots to offer. Whether you’re looking for a bucolic landscape for family hikes, an amusement park to make memories, or a city with museums, great restaurants, and plenty of sites, these locations have it all. There’s even a Bavarian village you can get to without leaving the country! No joke.
Everyone from Grammy down to your cousin’s newborn baby will enjoy these diverse Thanksgiving travel destinations that will make the holiday fun. But by far the best part will be sharing new experiences in an exciting location together after so much time apart.
Outer Banks, North Carolina
There’s a reason so many people proudly display OBX bumper stickers on their vehicles. The Outer Banks — a series of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina — have been a beach haven for families for generations. Today bridges connect the mainland to the long string of islands that are covered in a variety of holiday rentals from huge oceanfront mansions to quaint cottages. Depending on the size of your family, you can find the right rental for you, then gather for coastal holiday where you can spend time together in COVID-safe ways watching football and cooking turkey, then hit the beach to collect shells or throw frisbees. When you need to escape from your family, there are plenty of diversions like putt-putt, shopping, the Wright Brothers National Museum , and the Corolla Wild Horses , actual wild horses that live on the Outer Banks and are descended from the Spanish Mustangs brought to new world with early explorers.
Stowe, Vermont
Want super fall Thanksgiving destinations for families? Few places feel more cinematically Thanksgiving-ish than Vermont. The Green Mountain state becomes a leaf peeper utopia in the fall, ideal for family drives, hikes, or even kayak trips along Lake Champlain. For a large family gathering, pack your bags for Topnotch Resort . Located at the base of Mt. Mansfield, Topnotch is ideal for families because you can opt for either a variety of room configurations or splurge on one of 30 separate two- and three-bedroom resort homes. This means you’ll have a kitchen to prepare your Thanksgiving feast, but still be able to indulge in Topnotch’s pampering with a visit to it’s on sight spa while you send the kids out to play shuffleboard, take a trail ride or bike excursion. To keep guests safe, the resort has instituted strict cleaning and disinfecting standards for public spaces and communal areas, guest rooms, restaurants and bars, meeting and retail spaces, pools, and any area where guests or team members queue including the lobby, concierge, elevator, spa and retail. Masks are also required in all public spaces.
Irvington, Virginia
New England gets all the glory for fall foliage, but further South, Virginia is just as stunning in the autumn. You can take in the colors of the season in the town of Irvington by bringing the family to Tides Inn . A true family resort, the Chesapeake destination gives families a waterfront holiday complete with all kinds of outdoor activities like an Oyster Academy where participants get a front row seat to harvesting bivalves, a sailing school for kids and adults, river ecology classes , and an evening cruise in the harbor. Designed to cater to every age group, no one will be bored with a visit to Tides Inn.
Disneyland / Disney World
It’s the happiest place on Earth, right? So why wouldn’t you gather your favorites at either Disney theme park for Thanksgiving? Home to Mickey Mouse and friends, Disney has taken big steps to make its park COVID-safe, which means you can relax knowing that every precaution is being taken to ensure your safety, whether that means on Space Mountain or standing in line for a snack. Plus, going to Disney means you and your fam can split off into different factions — you and the kiddos to the It’s a Small World ride, your Dad and brother to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — then meet back for dinner.
New York City
There are hundreds of reasons to make New York City your Thanksgiving destination for your family. But this one might get your kids most excited: the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is back and allowing spectators along the parade route once again! In addition, Broadway reopened in September, meaning you and the fam can catch a few shows like Hamilton , Six , and Tina Turner: The Musical while you’re there. And do so knowing safety is first and foremost: All audience members must be vaccinated against Covid-19 and wear masks. In your down moments, visit the great cultural sites like the Metropolitan Museum of Art (which also requires proof of vaccine and a mask) or the Tenement Museum, visit the Statue of Liberty and take in Wall Street before grabbing an obligatory family photo at the top of the Empire State building.
Bend, Oregon
Bend, Oregon, is one of the most picturesque cities in America. Built on the banks of the Deschutes River, it sits below the peaks of the Cascade Mountains and is a huge draw for outdoors types. If that’s your family, you can’t go wrong with visiting Sunriver Resort over Thanksgiving. The festivities kick off with a Grand Illumination Tree Lighting & Fireworks Show. If you’re lucky, there might already be snow on the ground. If not, take a bike ride over 40 miles of paved path or head over the Alpine Village with offers activities like ice skating, mini golf, bumper cars, and a bounce house.
Park City, Utah
Often you can go skiing here as early as Thanksgiving, a boon to ski bums. For families that prefer to slide down hills rather than hike them, this is your place. Send the kids to the bunny hill for instruction while you hit the Black Diamonds. When your legs need a break, you can visit the Park City Museum to learn about the town’s history as a silver mining hot spot, or go shopping and grab lunch on Main Street. For those who love the snow but can’t ski, you can go tubing at Gorgoza Park or join a guided snowmobile or snowshoe tour. That’s what makes this one of many great Thanksgiving destinations for families.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
If your new mantra is “If not now, when?” then there’s no question you need to visit the Grand Canyon over Thanksgiving. Taking the whole family to visit this natural wonder is an opportunity not enough people get, so if you can, it’s worth it to convince your crew to pack the camping gear and head to Arizona. Plus, the holiday will be entirely outdoors, meaning you can keep a safe distance from each other. Due to the pandemic, capacity is limited, but what could be better than that? If you can snag a campsite , you’ll have the place to yourself and can really take in the magic of the scenery from the canyon vistas to the light-pollution-free night sky. That’s something to be thankful for.
Leavenworth, Washington
For many families, Thanksgiving is about anticipating Christmas. Just think of all those Black Friday Sales. If your family uses Thanksgiving weekend to deck the halls and decorate the house for the holidays, get in the spirit by gathering in Leavenworth, Washington for a trip to Germany! This one-time frontier town that once resembled the streets of Deadwood decided in the 1960s to capitalize on its alpine look and scenic spot on the Icicle River and transform itself in a Bavarian village. The entire town (including the McDonalds) have been designed to look straight out of South-East Germany and just like that country’s popular Christkindlmarkts, Leavenworth goes big for Christmas with live music on the streets, downtown sledding, and a Village of Lights Christmas town that goes live Thanksgiving weekend.
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
When you think Idaho, you might think landlocked interior state, but Coeur d'Alene is a watersport paradise surrounded by 55 lakes. Families can enjoy all kinds of outdoor recreations here from paddling on the lakes to visiting nearby Silverwood Amusement Park. You can rent a big family cabin or pack everyone in at Coeur d’Alene resort which is right on Lake Coeur d’Alene. The 18-tower high rise looks out on the water and from here you can use this as your jumping off point to take a family bike ride, see the holiday light show by boat, or play golf on the world’s only floating, moveable golf green.
Austin, Texas
Everything’s bigger in Texas, including, perhaps, your family. If you have a boatload of cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents to keep entertained in between eating turkey, time to check in to Austin. If you can score tickets, you might want to join thousands of Longhorn fans at Campbell-Williams Field to see them play Kansas State the Friday after Thanksgiving. But keep in mind, masks are only recommended in the football stadium. If you’re not football fans, you can send half your crew to the game while you take the kids to Inner Space Cavern or Laguna Gloria and Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve, a gorgeous garden space to roam and walk.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Cheaper than Chicago but with just as many activities to keep you occupied, it might be worth your while to consider going to Milwaukee for Thanksgiving. You can enjoy Lake Michigan’s western shore while visiting the Harley-Davidson Museum (note: wearing of face coverings is optional), tour the Pabst Mansion (home of the famous beer family), see prehistoric animal skeletons at the Milwaukee Public Museum (masks required) or pet some giraffes at the Milwaukee Zoo. And if you’re feeling fit, you have two ways to join runners before the feast in Milwaukee’s annual Thanksgiving turkey trot, the Drumstick Dash 5K or its Gobble Wobble at the Boerner Botanical Gardens.
Telluride, Colorado
In Colorado, ski season kicks off Thanksgiving weekend. For some families, that might be all the encouragement needed to book a mid-November trip to the Rocky Mountain resort town. Get ready for some fresh powder and a lot of ways to enjoy it here. You can take the traditional route and ride the ski life or try helicopter skiing where you’re dropped in to the San Juan Mountains for high elevation rides. A true winter wonderland, Telluride also has horseback sleigh rides, sledging, ice skating, and even dog sledding for visitors to try. How’s that for a holiday you can look back and say, “Hey, remember that time Grandma drove a dog sled?”

20 Wallet-Friendly Places to Spend Thanksgiving This Year
By ellen gutoskey | nov 9, 2021.
Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from a cramped section of Midtown Manhattan sidewalk may be the quintessential Turkey Day experience, but a trip to the Big Apple during the holidays certainly isn’t the cheapest option.
If you’re looking to spend Thanksgiving away this year, there are plenty of festive cities that won’t put quite so much strain on your bank account. And after evaluating the 100 most populous U.S. cities across 20 metrics, WalletHub has determined that Atlanta, Georgia, is your overall best bet. Not only did it rank first for most Thanksgiving events and most holiday decorations shops per capita, it also came in third for highest giving ratio (which factored in volunteer opportunities, share of income donated to charity, and more) and best weather forecast. In short, Atlanta knows what Thanksgiving is all about and celebrates it with gusto.
When it comes to the winningest state, however, Florida takes the cake. Three of its cities—Orlando, Miami, and Tampa—finished in the top 10. If you’re mainly looking to gallivant about pumpkin patches, head to Miami: It has more patches per capita than any other city in the South. If Florida’s excessive humidity isn’t to your liking, Arizona might be your ideal Thanksgiving getaway. It has three rather hidden gems in the top 20: Scottsdale in third place, Gilbert in 11th, and Chandler in 17th.
The list also challenges the assumption that New England, known for its colonial history and enviable fall foliage , is an unbeatable region to visit for Thanksgiving. No New England city made the top 20, though Boston did take 32nd place.
You can see how the top 20 cities scored (out of 100 total points) below, and read more about the study here .

Hotel Saint Vincent in New Orleans, Louisiana
Take in New Orleans and its take on Thanksgiving with daily weather peaking in the mid-70s. On the holiday itself, you can feast on a deep-fried turkey or turducken, a Cajun creation that cooks boneless chicken breast inside of a boneless duck breast inside of a turkey at one of many restaurants that stays open. You can also don your hat or fascinator for the Thanksgiving Classic, a derby that will kick off the racing season at the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, and catch the Bayou Classic Thanksgiving Day Parade as it processes from Superdome to French Market. As with any visit, you'll want to top it off with a beignet from Cafe du Monde.
We recommend staying at the bold-hued, mod-maximalist magic at Hotel Saint Vincent in the Lower Garden District on shop-and-lunch-always Magazine Street. See if you won’t ponder redoing a room in the custom, abstract wallpapers, and nabbing a takeaway from in-house shop By George .

Faena Hotel Miami Beach in Miami, FL
Late November is an excellent time to visit Miami, as temperatures are finally starting to drop and the snow birds haven't quite taken over South Florida. There's truly something for everyone to enjoy in Miami from its iconic beaches to world-renowned art galleries, stunning public gardens, and fantastic shopping.

While snowy ski runs may not be part of your vacation quite yet, a leisurely Aspen getaway offers a more restorative side of this incredible destination. Live music, art exhibits, incredible shopping, and cozy cocktail spots are just a few of the things to enjoy in Aspen.

Soak up that Texas sun this Thanksgiving with a stay in Austin. This beloved city is home to exciting outdoor experiences, art programming, nightlife, and, of course, food. It won't take long to discover why so many people have flocked here during the pandemic.
Our pick for a chic Austin weekend is Austin Proper Hotel & Residences , the Kelly Wearstler-designed property featuring local art and craftsmanship along with a fabulous rooftop bar boasting views of Lady Bird Lake. This Ritz Carlton is located on a secluded barrier island and boasts views of sand dunes and beautiful beaches. It offers the perfect mixture of coastal charm and five-star hotel amenities such as fine dining and a world-class spa.
The Omni Homestead Resort: Hot Springs, VA
The teeny mountain town of Hot Springs lies about two hours west of Charlottesville and is an idyllic place to spend Thanksgiving for a multitude of reasons. It's not only home to striking Shenandoah Valley views but also historic resorts, the golf course that helped launch Sam Snead's career, and, of course, some fabulous hot springs.
The Omni Homestead Resort is the legendary hotel that has hosted 23 presidents since the 18th century and still brings visitors to this Virginian village today. It's known for luxurious lodging, spa amenities, and outdoor activities. The resort hosts a memorable Thanksgiving feast every year, along with the annual lighting of the Great Hall Tree to help you kick off the holiday season right.
Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection: Hawai'i, HI
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year to enjoy your favorite Hawaiian island, as it's usually less crowded than it is during other major holidays (the exception being Waikiki in Oahu). You can usually find better deals on flights and hotels as well. It's a great option for those who would prefer to wear a swimsuit and dine by tiki torch light this Thanksgiving. And who wouldn't after the past year and a half we've had?
Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection is widely considered one of the most luxurious hotels in Hawaii, and its secluded location on the Kohala Coast makes it ideal for those looking for a private oceanfront retreat this fall. Experience Hawaiian culture, learn to surf, and fall in love with the Big Island's natural beauty.
Blackberry Farm: Walland, TN
This picturesque mountain range is a festive place to spend a long weekend at Thanksgiving. Plus, it's one of the few places that is still at peak fall foliage this late in the year. Whether you're looking for a luxurious treehouse to whip up your family's favorite dishes in solace or a world-class resort that serves a chef-prepared dinner, you can find it here.
Blackberry Farm is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy the great outdoors, and enjoy some classic Turkey Day traditions away from home. It offers a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner, along with a Turkey Trot, flag football, family bingo, and plenty of other activities to commemorate the occasion.

Motu Teta, Tahiti
Want to get as far away from your relatives as possible? We suggest booking Tahiti’s Motu Teta , a private island located in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean on the Rangiroa atoll. Activities include doing absolutely nothing (one of our favorite pastimes) or a more adventurous midnight lobster hunt. But don’t get too attached to Mr. Crusty because your private staff will prepare and serve him as your Thanksgiving meal beachside.
Your Own Private Archipelago
Spend the day snorkeling, diving or just relaxing. Not even your Aunt Edna’s bloodhound can find you on Motu Teta . Once your family sees the vacation photos surely they won’t begrudge your escape.
Room for Two or More
Should you be guilted into bringing along any family, such as your children, you’ll have enough room for up to 10. The island’s accommodations include a private bungalow and a larger main villa, both with sweeping verandas. Otherwise, wash those relatives right out of your hair.
Plymouth, Massachusetts
Those looking to kick it Old School will want to plan a visit to Plymouth, the town that symbolizes our national tradition of giving thanks and eating our faces off. Spend your day at Plimouth Plantation with role-playing pilgrims who reenact events from 17th-century life. The plantation is open from March to the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Plantation Vacation
Casa marina, key west.
As hosts of the International Sand Art Competition , Casa Marina launched a unique Thanksgiving tradition befitting of the quirky town that Ernest Hemingway once called home. Each year artists from all over the world create breathtaking sculptures right on the sandy shores of the Waldorf Astoria property.
Castles of Sand
Veteran sculptor Marianne van den Broek founded the competition, which unites artists from places such as Mexico, the Netherlands, Canada and the United States. Guests of Casa Marina with beachfront balconies can watch the sculptures take shape all weekend long.
Key West’s Best
The Spa al Maré at Casa Marina will be open on Thanksgiving Day and for this we give thanks.
Belle Mont Farm, St. Kitts
The Thanksgiving Feast at the Farm is one of the coolest holiday excursions we uncovered. Located on the island of St. Kitts, Belle Mont Farm will host a farm-to-table dinner with over 90 percent of the meal’s ingredients sourced directly from the farm. One- to four-bedroom cottages are available and the experience is all-inclusive.
Sing for Your Supper
La posada, santa fe.
Not only do we like the idea of having someone else doing the cooking, but we also like the thought of spending our holiday in a place known for its peaceful surroundings. La Posada in Santa Fe is steps from the capital city’s Historic Square and is partly housed in a structure dating back to the 1880s. Thanksgiving visitors can expect menu offerings with a southwestern flare.
Inn & Spa at Loretto, Santa Fe
Chef Marc Quinones creates incredibly tasty dishes for his guests at Luminaria all year using the freshest ingredients from Santa Fe’s local farmers markets. Holiday guests can choose to indulge in brunch or a prix-fixe dinner in the inn’s peaceful and serene dining room. With temperatures dropping, there could be snow on the ground just in time for your arrival.
New York’s Midtown Hilton
Forget sitting out in the cold! The New York Hilton Midtown has your ringside seat for all the action of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
A Suite of Sweets
Bell book & candle.
More than ever, people want to know where their food is sourced. Diners at the Bell Book & Candle need only to look up. Many of the vegetables, fruits and herbs served by Chef John Mooney are grown in hydroponic towers six stories up, on the rooftop of the West Village eatery. Not only will BBC be open on Thanksgiving, but locals can also order to-go meals.
Tower of Power
Talk about soul food. We love the idea of a collard green salad and roasted turkey marinated in sugar brine, served up with a side of live music. Located in Harlem, legendary Minton’s recently experienced a rebirth and the venue was restored to its former glory.
Wynn Las Vegas
The City of Sin is better known for over-the-top decadence, so it may come as a surprise that Steve Wynn, proprietor of the Wynn Las Vegas , takes a special interest in vegetarian and vegan options on all of his menus. He also has included a low-calorie menu at all of his restaurants as well.
Hotel Zamora
The Hotel Zamora is the first brand-spanking-new hotel to be built in St. Pete Beach, Florida, in 20 years. The Mediterranean-inspired property features a private marina and new 360-degree rooftop lounge with stunning oceanfront views. We suggest ordering up a Thanksgiving picnic basket from the resort’s award-winning restaurant Castile and have it served poolside.
Sandwiches by the Seashore
Thanksgiving, we recommend.

The Dupont Circle, Washington, D.C.
Thanksgiving can be a lavish affair in our country’s capital, especially for guests who book The Dupont Circle hotel’s two-bedroom penthouse suite offer, available November 22-29. Its $10,000 price tag gets four to six guests an in-room bartender and four-course dinner with canapés and wine flights, plus breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant, Pembroke. (The restaurant is serving a three-course Thanksgiving dinner of its own from noon until 7 p.m. on November 25.) On Okie Street in Ivy City, chef Matt Baker’s Michelin-starred Gravitas is serving a four-course menu with optional wine pairings ( reservations for indoor and outdoor seating are required). And less than a quarter of a mile from the White House, Todd Gray’s Equinox is offering a three-course menu with items ranging from classic (turkey with sausage-and-chestnut stuffing) to Mediterranean (falafel-crusted swordfish with labneh and couscous) and beyond.
The White Elephant Palm Beach, Florida
Whether you’re a snowbird getting a jump start on the season or you simply want to enjoy Thanksgiving in sunny surroundings, the 32-room White Elephant Palm Beach is a posh place to post up for the holiday. Its restaurant, LoLa 41 , is serving a prix fixe Thanksgiving dinner, including citrus grilled boneless turkey with giblet gravy. But travelers who want to rub elbows with well-heeled locals should consider reserving a table at Café Boulud ; in addition to honey-glazed turkey, its three-course prix fixe menu includes dishes such as crab tartlets and pumpkin pie with bourbon ice cream. Want to enjoy your feast in the casual comfort of your own oceanfront rental? Order a Not Yo’ Granny’s Turkey Dinner to-go from Batch Southern Kitchen & Tap in West Palm Beach; you’ll get sweet tea–brined Cajun fried turkey, plus sides like gruyère-and-sage stuffing and buttermilk biscuits with chili-thyme honey.
Kimpton Armory Hotel, Bozeman, Montana
Travelers who want to celebrate Thanksgiving surrounded by wide open spaces can do just that in Bozeman, Montana. Downtown, Fielding’s at the Kimpton Armory Hotel will serve a three-course, prix fixe Thanksgiving menu complete with a hearty turkey plate and pumpkin pie. Local purveyor Main Street Market is taking pre-orders for to-go Thanksgiving dinner bundles, each of which includes a whole smoked turkey, homemade sourdough bread, turkey gravy, and a pecan, pumpkin, or apple pie. For a to-go feast that truly embodies the spirit of the holiday, place an order for take-and-bake Thanksgiving sides and pies from Fork & Spoon , a socially driven pay-what-you-can restaurant in the center of town.
The Amelia Hotel, Hudson, New York
On November 20, Hudson’s new Amelia Hotel will host a Thanksgiving Open House featuring several local vendors, and guests who stay during the holiday can take advantage of special perks and complimentary experiences around town, such as wreath-making and bourbon tasting. There’s no on-site restaurant, but guests can tuck into a $95 prix fixe Thanksgiving dinner at the equally enchanting Maker Hotel and Restaurant just a few streets over. ( Reservations are available for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. seatings.) Want to host Turkey Day at your Hudson Valley Airbnb? Order a tropical-style to-go feast from Lil' Deb's Oasis , on Columbia Street, or from Saugerties catering company Black-Eyed Suzie’s Upstate (18 miles away). In Kingston, 30 miles from Hudson, sit down for a three-course Thanksgiving meal at Ship to Shore , where asking for seconds and thirds is encouraged.
Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk, Texas
Opened in February 2021, Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk is celebrating its first Thanksgiving in the city with a special day-after dinner and viewing experience of the 40th annual Ford Holiday River Parade on November 26. The package, which is available for hotel guests and locals alike, includes reserved parade seats along the Riverwalk, a specialty cocktail, and dinner at James Beard Award finalist Steve McHugh’s restaurant, Landrace . Menu items include gnocchi sardi with smoked mushroom Bolognese, brown butter bread pudding, and other options. ( Tickets are required.) Elsewhere around the city, travelers can sit down for four Thanksgiving courses at San Antonio institution Biga on the Banks ; dine in on or order out items like turkey, red-pepper stuffing, and mashed sweet potatoes at Cooper’s Meat Market ; or celebrate at Tex-Mex favorite Mi Tierra Café & Panadería , where past three-course menus have included Mexican-style turkey served with mole poblano and tamale stuffing.
The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago
First opened 45 years ago, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago , recently completed the final phase of a $100 million renovation and is ready to welcome travelers who are spending Thanksgiving in the Windy City. The hotel’s signature Italian steakhouse, Torali, is offering a special Thanksgiving To Go package—a prepared dinner that includes an 18- to 20-pound roasted free-range turkey, and sides such as Yukon Gold parmesan mashed potatoes, truffle mac and cheese, and sage cornbread stuffing. Guests who want to explore Chicago’s restaurant options will be spoiled for choice, with restaurants like Bistronomic , Gene & Georgetti , Chicago Firehouse , and River Roast offering dine-in or to-go Thanksgiving menus.
Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection, Napa Valley
Oenophiles who want to pair their Thanksgiving feast with a California wine country getaway can check in at Auberge Resort Collection’s Solage and order a meal to-go from its signature restaurant, Solbar. Its Thanksgiving menu includes roasted sliced turkey, butter-and-chive whipped potatoes, glazed root vegetables, and more. (Order by November 23 at 5 p.m.; pick-up is available November 25 between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.) Prefer to enjoy your feast with plenty of outdoor space? Head to nearby Yountville and order a pre-brined, ready-to-roast turkey—plus sides like buttery, Bouchon Bakery pull-apart rolls, bacon-and-leek stuffing, and, of course, bottles of wine—to-go from Thomas Keller’s Ad Hoc . The city’s Veterans Memorial Park is an ideal spot for an alfresco family feast, with bocce courts, bathrooms, and picnic areas. (Bonus if you want to BYOB: Alcohol is allowed.)
Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center
Philly’s Four Seasons hotel celebrated its second anniversary in August, and this year it’s welcoming Thanksgiving guests with dinner and weekend brunch at JG SkyHigh . The restaurant’s three-course Thanksgiving dinner will feature chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s take on turkey, side dishes, and seasonal pies. (Locals hosting dinner at home can pre-order pies —including apple, pumpkin, and Vernick Coffee Bar’s popular Carrot Cake Pie—made by the hotel’s pastry team.) Want to venture into the city for Thanksgiving dinner? The Four Seasons concierge team recommends Old City restaurant Fork for oysters, roasted heirloom turkey, and corn-and-walnut stuffing, or Fishtown’s Elwood Restaurant for family-style turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.

Flying home for Thanksgiving? 6 things to know if you haven't traveled lately
Nov 16, 2021 • 5 min read
Your Thanksgiving travel checklist will come wth some new rules this year © Getty Images
A year after the pandemic kept many people at home for the holidays in 2020, airlines in the United States anticipate a surge of domestic travelers ready to regain what they missed out on last year, starting with an increase of air travelers over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Typically, the busiest days for travel are the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after it. This year, those days fall on Wednesday, November 24, and Sunday, November 28.
This travel season might usher in a bit of added holiday stress as it's the first time many will travel by air since restrictions aimed to contain the coronavirus caused the number of air travelers to plummet in March 2020. According to AAA's travel forecast , 53.4 million people will travel for Thanksgiving this year, up 13% from last year and rebounding to near pre-pandemic levels.
If it’s been a bit since you last traveled, you might have forgotten some things about the travel process. Here are a few reminders before you depart to keep your travel plans on schedule.
Check the travel requirements at your destination
Travelers from the United States planning to use their holidays to travel internationally need to monitor the restrictions at their desired destination. Restrictions surrounding international travel change daily so make sure you continue to stay up-to-date on rules and requirements.
For instance, Europe has seen a surge in cases in recent weeks with countries like t he Netherlands, Austria and Greece tightening restrictions, particularly on those who are unvaccinated.
The US Department of State has country-specific information about travel restrictions and advisories available on its website. Consider signing up for t he Safe Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts concerning your destination. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also has information for travelers with its own destination-specific advisories.
Lonely Planet and Healthline have partnered to give you up-to-date information about travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schedule your COVID-19 reentry test early
The CDC recommends you do not travel internationally before you are fully vaccinated. When you decide to travel internationally, you'll need to plan where you'll get a COVID-19 test in order to return home.
The United States requires entering travelers to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered no more than three days prior to departure for vaccinated returning travelers, one day prior to departure for unvaccinated travelers (those who've recently recovered from COVID-19 [within previous 90 days] are exempt from testing requirements).
Track down where you can get tested in your destination and make an appointment if necessary before you depart to save yourself some hassle.

Airports will be busy. Arrive early
Air passenger traffic in the United States has rebounded with security checkpoints reporting screening numbers nearing pre-pandemic levels. The airlines and the Transportation Security Administration have ramped up hiring to accommodate the increase in travel but you may still find lines at check-in and security. Give yourself plenty of time to manage this by arriving at the airport early.
If you have a medical or personal situation that requires a little extra help or patience as you navigate security, contact TSA Cares before you depart to let them know before you arrive. The agency will assign an agent to help you navigate security. You can fill out a request form online or contact TSA at (855) 787-2227.
Pack snacks, leave your booze in your carry-on
Airports are also struggling to rebuild staff for restaurants and retailers in their terminals. You may find long lines and in some cases, restaurants closed or working with limited hours due to the staffing shortage. Pack some snacks just in case.
One buzzkill here: Leave the booze at home or stowed in your checked or carry-on bag. Though TSA allows bottles of alcohol under 3.4 ounces through security if packed in the liquids bag and some airport restaurants might allow you to take a to-go cup from the bar, the Federal Aviation Administration regulations prohibit you from drinking alcohol on a flight unless it is served by air carrier staff. If you're caught pouring your own, you’ll face a fine stiffer than your drink. The FAA has reported several incidents where unruly passengers were also consuming alcohol that was not served by a flight attendant.
Leave prohibited items at home
After not flying for a while, refamiliarize yourself with what is prohibited from going through security. Liquids in your carry-on bag must be less than 3.4 ounces and fit in one quart-sized bag. Large items will need to go in your checked bag.
Have a question about whether an item can go through security? Check out the “ What can I bring” section of the TSA’s website.
TSA agents say the most common thing they hear from the people they stop for prohibited items is “I forgot I had that!” To avoid embarrassment from being stopped at security, make sure you do a quick search of your own bag before you pack it to make sure it’s completely empty. That means check all the corners and pockets, too.
Wear your mask, pack patience
In the past year, the FAA has seen an increase in disruptive and violent passengers. As a result, the agency instituted a no-tolerance policy for those who disrupt flights or disregard instructions from a flight crew. Under the FAA's reauthorization bill, the agency can fine unruly passengers up to $37,000 per violation.
As of November 9, 2021, the FAA had received 5,114 reports of unruly passengers so far this yea r. More than 3,700 of those were over wearing masks on the plane.
The federal mandate requiring passengers to wear a mask on transit in the United States continues until January 18, 2022 . You’ll need to wear a mask on the plane, as will all passengers over the age of two. Pick one that can be worn comfortably over the length of your travel.

7 Idyllic Destinations for a Family-Friendly Thanksgiving Vacation This November
I f you’ve ever hosted a Thanksgiving get together, then you know it can be stressful. There’s the kitchen prep and planning, of course, but also the cleaning (of your home and your kitchen), entertainment, and attempted sidestepping of controversial issues that’ll put the dinner conversation in a tailspin.
Thankfully, there’s an easy way to avoid this formulaic nightmare while still celebrating with the people you love: take a vacation. Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving on the day or decide to stretch it out to avoid the madness of airports during the holidays, travel is one way to have a Thanksgiving everyone actually enjoys. If it’s spacious accommodations you’re looking for, we narrowed down the best Airbnbs for families in the Pacific Northwest , as well as family sized Airbnbs in the Northeast and family friendly Airbnbs in the Southwest .
The key to a successful Thanksgiving family vacation is picking the right home base. From places with stunning natural beauty to destinations known for their kid-friendly atmosphere, these are the best family vacation spots to check out this November.
1. Hershey, Pennsylvania

Thanksgiving isn’t as heavily associated with chocolate as Christmas, but when it comes to chocolate, rules don’t apply. You’ll get no complaints from the kids when you tell them you’re planning a trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania, AKA the chocolate capital of the United States located just two hours from Philadelphia.
Known primarily for Hersheypark , the chocolate-themed amusement park, Hershey was built as for the workers of Hershey’s Chocolate Factory in the early 20th century. The city has since turned into a destination. The famous theme park has roller coasters, a water park, and ZooAmerica — an 11 acre park zoo with alligators, mountain lions, black bears, lynx, and more. Right next to the park is Hershey’s Chocolate World, a visitors center attraction with shops and restaurants, a chocolate factory tour, and a create your own candy bar experience.
If you’ve had your fill of chocolate, you can always check out a Hershey Bears hockey game. An affiliate of the Washington Capitals, the Bears offer professional ice hockey action without the high prices of an NHL game. There’s also the Hershey Story Museum if your interest in chocolate is more academic. With interactive exhibits detailing the history of the Hershey company, as well as the Chocolate Lab where you can make and decorate candy, the museum is a perfect rainy day activity for kids.
2. Cape May, New Jersey
Photo: Paul Hakimata Photography /Shutterstock
Whereas the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City are associated with a classic New Jersey summer, Cape May should represent winter. With plenty of spacious beaches, parks, shopping, restaurants, and early autumn sunsets, Cape May in November has all the benefits of a summer beach destination without the summer crowds.
Cape may is defined by the Washington Street Mall — a pedestrian thoroughfare with restaurants, boutique art galleries and bookstores, and a slow-paced vibe that will make you completely forget about the hectic Thanksgiving dinner you could be having instead.
There’s also Cape May State Park, which has a beach and nature trails to explore, as well as the Cape May Lighthouse that offers an impressive view of the ocean (as long as you don’t mind the 199 steps to get there). Children might particularly enjoy a ride on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to Lewes, Delaware — a perfect day trip if you’re looking to get out on the water — or a visit to the free Cape May County Park & Zoo to see the zebras and giraffes.
3. Sandusky, Ohio
Photo: Brady James Smith /Shutterstock
Sandusky, Ohio, is best known for its iconic amusement park Cedar Point , which has 18 roller coasters and more than 50 other rides. The amusement park alone — which also features a white sand beach, water park, and sports complex — could keep you and your family occupied the entire trip, but this city on the banks of Lake Erie has plenty else to offer.
Take a break from the action at one of Sandusky’s parks. Shoreline park has walking trails, playgrounds, ponds, fountains, and is perfect for a family picnic lunch. Facer park is known for its art installation that reflects the town’s role in the Underground Railroad, while Mylander Park in the heart of downtown has a giant battleship game.
One of the city’s more unique attractions — and also one of the best for families — is Escape Rooms by FrankNicky . One escape room experience takes you on a retro treasure hunt through the 1980s, while the other transports you back to 1943 as you solve a mystery involving Tesla’s nephew, Nikola Trbojevich.
4. Grand Canyon, Arizona
Photo: Lebid Volodymyr /Shutterstock
Who needs the stress of cooking a Thanksgiving dinner when there’s one of the world’s greatest natural wonders to see? There are seemingly limitless ways to explore the canyon, and many of them are kid-friendly. You can hike around the rim with the aid of an experienced guide, go by bicycle, or even ride a mule down to the bottom. Also be sure to check out the Skywalk , which extends 70 feet out from the rim at Grand Canyon West, for the clearest views down to the canyon floor.
Besides the Grand Canyon itself, there are plenty of other peripheral natural beauties to see while you’re there. Antelope Canyon , just 10 minutes from Grand Canyon National Park, is a favorite for its colorful slot canyons, while at the Petrified Forest , just under three hours away, you’ll find ancient petroglyphs and Pueblo Ruins.
If you’re craving some civilization after spending much of the trip exploring the rugged Southwest landscape, set aside at least a half-day for Grand Canyon Village, the park’s most popular entrypoint. It’s home to the Grand Canyon Railway Depot, a traditional Hopi Native American crafts studio, and Yavapai Point — one of the canyon’s most scenic viewpoints.
5. San Antonio, Texas
Photo: Brandon Seidel /Shutterstock
For some, temperatures in the 70s are enough of a reason to visit Texas in November. Aside from the appealing weather, San Antonio is packed with family-friendly attractions that blend history with natural beauty.
Kids will likely want to start off at Seaworld San Antonio to see the dolphins, stingrays, sharks, giant sea turtles, whales, sea lions, and penguins. There are also adrenaline-pumping rides like the Steel Eel and Great White roller coasters. Back on land, you can’t visit San Antonio without a trip to the San Antonio Zoo. The third-largest zoo in the country, the zoo is just 10 minutes from downtown and home to thousands of animals, including rhinos, hippos, tortoises, giraffes, and flamingos.
The city is also home to the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas, which encompasses San Antonio’s five Spanish colonial missions: Concepción, San José, San Juan, Espada, and the Alamo. The largest concentration of Spanish Colonial missions in North America, these 18th century buildings will give you a glimpse of one side of San Antonio’s past.
To get out of the city, drive just over a half-hour north to the Natural Bridge Caverns. These 140-year-old rock formations run deep underground, and are best explored on adventure tours of varying degrees of difficulty.
6. Lake Tahoe, California
Photo: NKneidlphoto /Shutterstock
Adventure-loving families should look no further than Lake Tahoe for Thanksgiving. From biking and hiking to paddle boarding on the lake, Tahoe has no shortage of family activities.
The East Shore Trail is the best way to access the lake in the fall and winter. This 2.8-mile paved path starts at the Tunnel Creek Cafe in Incline Village, and follows the lake’s perimeter to Sand Harbor with views of the lake all along the way. It also provides access to Hidden Beach, a great spot for a family picnic.
One of the best ways to explore Tahoe is by fat biking — a trend that has exploded in popularity over the past few years. A more sustainable way to navigate rugged terrain, fat biking is perfect for exploring the paths along the North Shore of the lake. There are also tons of beaches, bars, shopping, and restaurants located conveniently close to the trails, so you’ll never be too far from civilization (or a comfortable bathroom break).
It might be a bit brisk for watersports, but truly adventurous families can take advantage of kayak and stand up paddle board rentals. There are enough hidden beaches and rocky coves to discover that you could easily spend the entire weekend exploring the lake by water. Just don’t fall in, as the water is quite chilly.
7. Bellingham, Washington
Photo: Daniel Avram /Shutterstock
When it comes to visiting the Pacific Northwest , Portland and Seattle tend to be the twin pillars propping up the vacation. While those cities are great, you wouldn’t want to ignore one of the region’s most beautiful cities: Bellingham. A coastal city on the Canadian border, Bellingham is known for its proximity to North Cascade National Park and easy access to the San Juan Islands, as well as its Cultural Arts District full of cafes, independent cinemas, and family-friendly museums.
The best way to catch the last days of fall in Bellingham is by taking a foliage walk along Lake Whatcom. The Lake Whatcom Hertz Trail used to be a railroad, and runs for three miles along the lake’s shoreline. It crosses bridges and beaches and brings you through some of the region’s most colorful foliage. And the best part? It’s accessible for hikers of all fitness and experience levels.

Traveling for Thanksgiving? Here's what to expect on the road and in the air
It's shaping up to be a busy year for holiday travel.
Ahead of Thanksgiving next week , experts are warning that people should prepare for higher prices and longer wait times. AAA estimates more than 53 million Americans are expected to travel for the holiday, marking a 13% increase from last year.
NBC's Kerry Sanders spoke to experts in the travel industry for some advice on how to make sure you get to enjoy your holiday celebrations.
Make a plan in advance
No matter how you're traveling, it can't hurt to do some research. This is especially important when flying . Customers traveling by air can expect longer wait times at the airport and hourslong hold times if calling airlines, so try to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
“People are going to be traveling for the first time probably since the pandemic and they’re not used to the whole travel experience, so get familiar with your airline check-in procedures," Greg Chin, the communications division director for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department in Florida told TODAY. "Do the research now and planning ahead.”
It can be especially helpful to double-check the Transportation Security Administration's rules about what food items can be carried on and what needs to be checked. Thanksgiving staples like meats, baked goods and stuffing can be carried on, but liquids like alcohol, cranberry sauce and preserves need to go in a checked bag.
Remember federal rules are in place
The COVID-19 prevention protocols in place on public transit are set by the federal government, so they may be stricter than local rules and regulations.
Federal law currently requires that all passengers, including fully vaccinated travelers , wear masks at all times when using public transit, including buses, trains and airplanes. The regulations are in place through at least January 2022. Those who refuse to wear a mask could be charged between $500-$1,000 for first offenses and $1,000-$3,000 for repeat offenses.
“Wearing a mask protects the traveling public and all of the personnel who make the travel experience safe, secure, and comfortable,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas in a press release . “We will continue to enforce the mask mandate as long as necessary to protect public health and safety.”
Prepare for higher gas prices
If you're avoiding public transit and driving yourself to your destination, brace yourself for high prices at the pump .
According to GasBuddy, the average price per gallon of gasoline on Thanksgiving Day is expected to cost $3.35. That's more than a dollar increase than what it was in 2020.
Money Gas prices are rising. Here’s how to save at the pump
In some states, the price can be even higher. In California, customers have reported seeing prices as high as $6.59 a gallon for premium gas.
Keep calm while in transit
One major issue for airlines lately has been unruly passengers. Flight attendants and other employees have been shouted at and physically assaulted by passengers. The Federal Aviation Administration has seen a dramatic jump in the number of incidents , reporting at least 973 investigations so far this year.
Chin advised that passengers hoping to enjoy their holidays keep calm and focus on getting to their final destinations.
“Don’t ruin your travel plans, don’t ruin your holiday plans, because you couldn’t behave for a few hours," Chin said.
Being involved in one of these incidents can carry heavy penalties. Customers can be fined as much as $3,700 by the FAA. In addition, airlines are keeping and enforcing no-fly lists, which could bar a customer from using an airline for life. Criminal and civil charges can also be brought against an unruly passenger.

Diamondbacks Play the First Place Mariners in Seattle this Weekend
A comprehensive preview of the D-backs first visit to the Emerald City since 2021
- Author: Jack Sommers
In this story:
The Arizona Diamondbacks (12-14) are in Seattle to the play the Mariners (13-12) for a three game series starting Friday night. It will be the sixth time the Diamondbacks have made the trip to Seattle , and the first time since 2021.
The D-backs are tied with the Giants for third place in the NL West, 3.5 games behind the Dodgers. They're also 2.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot with three teams in between them and the Cincinnati Reds. Standings page here . The D-backs have a +35 run differential scoring 149 runs and allowing 114. Their expected W-L record is 16-10, four games better than their actual record.
The Mariners just took two of three from the Texas Rangers in Texas to vault ahead of the World Series Champions into first place in the AL West. Seattle has a +4 run differential scoring 93 runs and allowing 89. Their expected W-L record matches their actual record at 13-12.
With a multi year park factor of 96 for hitters and 95 for pitchers, T-Mobile Park (Formerly Safeco Field) remains one of the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball. In fact it ranks as the 5th best pitcher's park in MLB.
The stadium has a roof to protect from the rain, but has an open air design. The cool damp air of the region has a dampening effect on offense and thus affects all hitting and pitching stats more than most ballparks. Temperatures will be in the mid to low 50's with clouds and intermittent rain throughout the weekend.
Friday, 6:40 P.M. PST/MST
Zac Gallen, RHP, 3-1, 3.00 ERA, 137 ERA+
Gallen, who made his first All Star game start in Seattle last year, has made five starts and thrown 27 innings in 2024. His most recent outing in San Francisco did not go well as he allowed five runs on nine hits, including two homers, in just five innings of work. That ballooned his ERA from 1.64 to 3.00. With Merrill Kelly and Eduardo Rodriguez out for the foreseeable future, it's critical for the D-backs success that Gallen be a stopper for the team.
Gallen's best pitch so far this season has been his knuckle curve. But his slider and change up have not been sharp. His average fastball velocity is down to 92.5 MPH from 93.6 last year and 94.1 in 2022. When he makes location mistakes, or hitters can sit on the fastball when he can't land the slider or changeup, then his fastball is prone to getting hit harder than in the past.
Emerson Hancock, RHP 2-2, 6.10 ERA, 61 ERA+
The 24 year old Hancock is the Mariners fifth starter. In just his second season, his ERA is inflated by a bad start in Milwaukee on April 7th in which he allowed eight runs in 3.1 innings. Since then however he went six innings against both the Cubs and Rockies (in Colorado), allowing just three runs and eight hits over the two starts.
Hancock has a four pitch mix, using both a four seam and sinker that average about 93.4 MPH. He also throws a changeup and slider. It's notable that the D-backs drafted him in the 38th round back in 2018 but he didn't sign out of High School, choosing instead to go the University of Georgia. Three years later the Mariners took him in the first round, 6th overall of the 2020 draft.
Saturday, 6:40 P.M. PST/MST
Projected Starter: Slade Cecconi, RHP. 1-0, 3.00 ERA
Cecconi filled in for Merrill Kelly who was a last minute scratch on April 21st prior to going on the IL. Cecconi pitched a strong game giving up just two runs in six innings. While the team has not announced a starter for this game, there is no reason to assume it won't be Cecconi.
George Kirby RHP, 2-2, 5.33 ERA, 69 ERA+
Kirby had a strong season last year, going 13-10 with a 3.35 ERA, 122 ERA+. In five starts this year he has three excellent outings and two bad ones. He seems to have righted his ship however, coming off five shutout innings againwt the Rockies in Coors Field on April 21st. Prior to that he went six innings against the Reds, giving up just two runs in a win.
Sunday 1:10 P.M. PST/MST
Projected Starter : Brandon Pfaadt 1-1, 4.97 ERA
Pfaadt was cruising on April 22nd against the Cardinals with five shutout innings , allowing just one hit. Then he suddenly melted down in the 6th inning, loading the bases on three walks before giving up a two-run single. He was still in line for the win, but the Bullpen could not hold the lead. Pfaadt has made it into the 6th inning in four straight starts.
While not quite as severe as last season, the third time through the order penalty continues to be an issue for Pfaadt as his OPS against rises from .576 the first time through to .813 by the third time through the order.
Logan Gilbert RHP, 2-0, 1.87 ERA, 197 ERA+
Gilbert was already coming off two solidly above average seasons the last two years. 2022-23 combined he went 26-13, making 64 starts and threw 376 innings, posting a 3.47 ERA. So far in 2024 he's been one of the best starters in the league. Coming off 6.2 shutout innings against the Rangers his last outing, he allowed just one run in three of his other four starts.
Gilbert has a four seamer that averages 95.5 and tops out around 97. He throws a slider, a cutter, and a devastating splitter with a 56% whiff rate. Good luck.
The Mariners Bullpen ERA of 2.49 ranks as the third best in MLB. That's not really supported by their peripherals however as they have a 3.72 FIP and 3.76 xFIP. Their WPA, or Win Percentage added, ranks 10th best among MLB bullpens. Andres Munoz, 2.89 ERA, 3 saves, one blown, is the primary closer. Set up man Ryne Stanek has a 2.00 ERA and a couple of saves to go with his four holds. Gabe Speier is the primary left-hand matchup reliever and has allowed only one run in nine innings of work.
The D-backs are hopeful that Paul Sewald can come back from his Oblique injury soon to stabilize their Shaky bullpen. In fact he's a possibility to pitch in this series, having recently pitched in a rehab game in Triple-A. Sewald was traded by the Mariners to the D-backs last August, and was very popular in Seattle.
The D-backs bullpen ranks 20th in MLB with a 4.19 ERA and ranks 27th in WPA, with late and close situations being a real problem. Kevin Ginkel (3.48 ERA) has four saves but has blown two. Right-hander Scott McGough, (5.56 ERA) has a team worst three losses. The D-backs bullpen is tied for the second most losses in MLB with eight.
The Mariners team OPS+ of 97 is slightly below league average 100, and ranks 19th in MLB. Their best hitters so far have been former Diamondback Josh Rojas and catcher Cal Raleigh. Rojas is batting .315 with a .846 OPS, 152 OPS+ in 60 PA. Raleigh is hitting .257 with six homers and a .833 OPS, 145 OPS+. Julio Rodriguez got off to a slow start and still only has one homer, but his batting average is climbing, up to .276 now.
The Diamondbacks team OPS+ of 110 ranks 8th in the league and their 5.73 Runs per game ranks second. It's been feast or famine for Arizona however as they have scored 12 or more runs four times, but are just 5-10 in games decided by three runs or less . They're hitting just .143 in late and close situations, which is the worst in MLB
Ketel Marte is leading the team in hits and runs, batting .320 with a 157 OPS+. With three right-hand pitchers starting, expect Joc Pederson to start in all three games. He leads the team with a 1.011 OPS, 186 OPS+ in 63 PA. Seattle Native and 2023 Rookie of the Year Corbin Carroll continues to slump with his batting average all the way down to .208 and just one homer on the year.

Outlook doesn't add your new signature to the message you opened in Step 1, even if you chose to apply the signature to all new messages. You'll have to add the signature manually to this one message. All future messages will have the signature added automatically. To add the signature manually, select Signature from the Message menu and then pick the signature you just created.
Add a logo or image to your signature
If you have a company logo or an image to add to your signature, use the following steps.
Open a new message and then select Signature > Signatures .
In the Select signature to edit box, choose the signature you want to add a logo or image to.
To resize your image, right-click the image, then choose Picture . Select the Size tab and use the options to resize your image. To keep the image proportions, make sure to keep the Lock aspect ratio checkbox checked.
When you're done, select OK , then select OK again to save the changes to your signature.
Insert a signature manually
If you don't choose to insert a signature for all new messages or replies and forwards, you can still insert a signature manually.
In your email message, on the Message tab, select Signature .
Choose your signature from the fly-out menu that appears. If you have more than one signature, you can select any of the signatures you've created.
