Luxury River Cruises in France

Cruise along the beautiful rivers and canals in France onboard a luxury barge and discover the best of French food and wine.

Information We Need

At Wine Paths, we create unforgettable experiences for our discerning clients, and make wine tasting as luxurious and immersive as possible. Take in the wonderful river views, visit sophisticated French towns along the way, and discover the country’s high culture in the most stunning surroundings.

From rolling vineyards and exclusive wineries with vast outdoor space to museums and local attractions, there’s plenty to see and do on a river cruise in France . We have a number of route options, including the waterways of beautiful Burgundy or charming Champagne .

Our luxury river cruises are suitable for foodies and wine enthusiasts alike. In fact, the French consider food and drink as bedfellows, and no experience is complete without both. Onboard your cruise, you will get a chance to sample artisan cheeses or enjoy truffle tasting as well as savour rare vintages and organic wines. Dining aboard is truly indulgent, with dedicated chefs creating fine dining feasts from fresh, local products sourced from the markets en-route.

Guests will also get to dine alfresco and enjoy extensive wine menus in the sunshine when the weather allows. Whether you’re here for the food, here for the wine, or here for the sights, a French river cruise is the perfect way to travel in style.

Exploring the rivers of France

The rivers of this fabulous nation are ideal for cruising. Boasting some of Western Europe’s most famous waterways, and rivers and canals that criss cross the entire expanse of the country, there’s no better place for a holiday on the water.

The country’s five main rivers are the Loire, the Rhine, the Rhone, the Seine, and the Garonne. These waterways are the largest in France, and then there are countless smaller waterways such as canals, forming a wide and beautiful network of incredible places to cruise.

The Loire is the longest river flowing completely in France, beginning in the Ardeche and winding through the lovely cities of Nantes, Tours and Orleans at 625 miles long. The Seine is perhaps the most famous for its route through the capital and providing the setting for top historic sites in Paris , including the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. The Garonne is just as well-recognized by food and wine enthusiasts, as it runs through the foodie region of Bordeaux . Then connecting the Garonne to the Étang de Thau on the Mediterranean is the Canal du Midi, one of our favourite cruising destinations.

Another popular cruising waterway for unbelievable food and wine is the River Marne and Canal Lateral de Marne, taking guests through the stunning Champagne region, with the most indulgent dining and tasting opportunities.

Where to go

When it comes to cruising in France, there are so many incredible destinations to explore. Many people immediately think of Paris when they consider a cruising holiday, and it’s easy to see why with all the well-known historic landmarks.

Saone-Rhone river cruises take in some of the most prolific winemaking regions such as Beaujolais, Burgundy and Cotes du Rhone, with stops at wonderful wine meccas, fine gastronomy and stunning scenery. For something a little more off the beaten track, we highly recommend the Belmond Lilas Afloat in France cruising experience blends tranquil relaxation with cultural and culinary discovery. For 3 to 6 nights you can glide through serene waterways in sumptuous king-size or double cabins, with stops in Montmerle, Abbaye de Cluny, Beaune, Chateau de Rully, St Jean de Losne, and Dijon.

Or hop on the Belmond Pivoine and immerse yourself in the land of French sparkling wines, savoring every moment in Champagne. Route options include Couvrot to Epernay, Epernay to Couvrot, Chalons to Chateau Thierry, or Chateau Thierry to Chalons.

Things to see and do

A river cruise in France can be as relaxed or action-packed as you desire. Activities on our cruises include everything from hot air ballooning and watersports to authentic market tours and truffle hunting. And let’s not forget about the amazing winery visits , vineyard tours and wine tasting.

In the Champagne region, ultra-premium sparkling varietals will be more accessible than water, and Burgundy is the ultimate destination for sampling pure Pinot Noir.

Aboard your cruise, you’ll have plenty of time to wind down in your own private space. When you’re finished basking in the sun on deck, you can retreat to your luxurious room. Some of the Belmond cruisers feature rooms with high-end embroidered Parisian bed covers and marble en-suites. So you’ll have all the opulence you need for a special trip or romantic getaway.

Tips for river cruising

At Wine Paths, we arrange cruises for discerning clients who enjoy fine dining, great wine and great weather. But it doesn’t matter whether you’re a wine expert or cheese aficionado or a total beginner – we can help you have an unforgettable holiday. Here are some tips for making the most of your trip:

  • Research the destinations beforehand

A little research about the wines and grape varieties or local cuisine will help you appreciate every tasting or dining experience.

  • Bring comfortable footwear

There will be a number of stops with plenty of time to explore on foot, so bring suitable shoes for walking around.

  • Ask for recommendations

When it comes to ordering food or trying new wine varietals, don’t be afraid to ask the waiter for recommendations.

This New River Cruise Sails to Charming Towns and Wineries in France's Burgundy Region — Here's How to Get on Board

If you're as obsessed with drinking white Burgundy as everyone else is these days, this new AmaWaterways cruise on France's Saône River is the trip for you.

Oenophiles, this new European river cruise itinerary is for you. AmaWaterways just announced the "Flavors of Burgundy" voyage, a seven-night journey on the Saône River with a focus on, you guessed it, wine.

The itinerary is part of the cruise line's Celebration of Wine River Cruises series — each trip is hosted by a wine expert and includes special epicurean excursions, as well as onboard tastings and seminars.

"The interest for the fascinating world of French wines is such that we decided to specially curate this new Flavors of Burgundy itinerary, that will take our guests on an unforgettable journey through the beautiful vineyards of this renowned wine-producing region of France," Kristin Karst, co-founder and executive vice president of AmaWaterways, said in a statement.

There are 11 departures of the "Flavors of Burgundy" itinerary from May to September 2024, and they will take place on the 144-passenger AmaCello ship. The voyage begins in Dijon — yes, famous for its mustard — where guests can enjoy a bike tour or a château visit. Then the ship calls at towns and small cities along the Saône, including Seurre, Chalon-sur-Saône, Tournus, and Macon. At each of these destinations, guests can choose wine-tasting excursions to the region's vineyards, or they can pick between bike tours, walking tours, visits to historic sites, or day trips to villages off the river.

And if Burgundy wines aren't your favorite, don't worry. The Celebration of Wine River Cruises series includes more than 60 departures annually all across Europe, from the Douro River Valley in Portugal to the wine regions along the Danube in Central Europe.

"Since the debut of our Celebration of Wine River Cruises in 2010, we've continued to see increasing demand for these epicurean experiences giving our guests the opportunity to sip local wine while sailing through breathtaking wine regions of the world alongside acclaimed North American and European wine hosts," Karst said.

Rates start at $4,499 per person for the "Flavors of Burgundy" sailing; book now at amawaterways.com .

See it light up painted Impressionist landscapes during visits to the famed museums of Paris, checking out their real-life counterparts in the gardens at Giverny and the villages of Provence. Discover it in culinary treats chef prepared at cooking demonstrations and during exclusive dinners at elegant châteaux open just for Tauck. Savor it in award-winning wines locally produced at vineyards and wine estates family owned for centuries. And indulge in personal discoveries authentically French, uniquely irresistible and all included as you experience the joys of France firsthand onboard and ashore.

The Seine River

The River Seine is born in Burgundy and runs through the heart of Paris before flowing onward to the Normandy Coast where it meets the English Channel. On a French river cruise on the Seine, you'll discover the treasures along its banks in destinations that include Paris, Duclair, Caudebec-en-Caux in the Normandy region, Monet's Giverny, Versailles and more. You'll see how the changing light of day inspired artists, giving them a dynamic sense of movement to their masterpieces and the settings behind their work as you cruise to places immortalized in art… the medieval streets and oft-painted cathedrals and churches of Rouen… the palace of Versailles… during an exclusive dinner at a regal château… as you sip cider and Calvados at a country farm… on D-Day Beaches steeped in history… and on walking tours rich with culture.

The Rhône RIver

The Rhône River is an Alpine beauty, beginning in the Swiss Alps, passing through Lake Geneva, southeastern France, and sun-kissed Provençal villages, until it reaches the mesmerizing Mediterranean Sea. Experience the stuff of dreams in Paris, Lyon, Viviers, Avignon and beyond as you savor local specialties on a private ranch in la Camargue with Provençal cowboys… discover France's epicurean heart in a famous market in Lyon… explore the gilded playground for jet setters in Monte-Carlo… walk through the picturesque and vibrantly colored town of Arles – where Van Gogh found inspiration… taste chocolate, pastries and Côtes du Rhône vintages at the source, in one of the greatest wine-growing regions on Earth… what river cruising on the Rhône is all about.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine country

In avignon along the rhône, a professional sommelier guides you through a tasting and pairing of châteauneuf-du-pape wines.

The popes who reigned over the Roman Catholic Church in Avignon during the 14th century enjoyed not only their formidable lodgings in the fortress-like Palais des Papes, but also the fruit of the vine; they are credited with cultivating the local wine industry widely recognized today by the appellation, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Today the life of this region still centers around growing, producing and enjoying wine – as you'll see for yourself when a professional sommelier guides you through a tasting and pairing of fine Rhône Valley wines that go perfectly with the unforgettable midday meal you helped prepare… truly an experience to remember!

Les Halles de Lyon

Tasting your way through a culinary icon in lyon.

Lyon is considered the "culinary capital of France" – quite a compliment in a country famed for its cuisine and fine vintages. You'll discover why during a tasting at the famous Les Halles de Lyon, the celebrated indoor food market that's been a fixture in Lyon since 1850. It offers an unbelievable array of breads, cheeses, fresh fruits and vegetables, sausages, wines, chocolates... the list goes on. Everything is fresh and delicious, and it's said that the best chefs in Lyon shop here… so enjoy!

Truffle hunting in the Rhône Valley

Trained dogs and "black diamonds" – truffles – in grignan along the rhône.

The Italians call them tartufo, but to the French and much of the rest of the world, they're known as truffles. But whatever you call it, this rare, pungent (and highly perishable) fungus that grows under the ground in certain parts of Europe is one of the most expensive foods on Earth, highly prized by chefs and gourmets around the globe. Centuries ago, early truffle-hunters used pigs, with their keen sense of smell, to root these treasures out of the ground… but the piggies usually ate the truffles as soon as they found them! So they began training dogs to sniff them out... like the pooches you'll meet and go truffle-hunting with today at a truffle farm in Grignan… followed by a tasting of products made with this precious ingredient.

Tauck Exclusive – Evening at the Duché d'Uzès

Our exclusive gala evening at the duché d'uzès.

The Duke of Uzès kindly requests your presence at his family castle for dinner. Expect to be wined and dined at a grand château that architecturally chronicles its history, from its foundation on the site of a Roman governor's home in the first millennium to its role as the medieval residence of an exiled 9th-century Duchess, the first woman in the Occident to write a book, to its Renaissance renovation, its languish in the Revolution, its 19th- and 20th-century reincarnation as a school to its meticulous renovation in 1954 by the influential Marchioness of Crussol who reacquired the family home. Her vision comes to life in treasured keepsakes and a resplendent décor that provide a stunning setting for Tauck's exclusive gala evening.

Experiencing Paris

Paris is....

Its unique arrondissements, brimming with character, like the Marais – home to trendy cafés, galleries and boutiques… the River Seine, winding its way through the city… the Eiffel Tower, one of the world's most recognizable icons… the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, needing no introduction… Rue Montorgueil, lined with produce stands, boulangeries, cheese shops, wine stores, and fishmongers… Les Invalides, the palatial complex housing the monumental tomb of Napoleon… Place de la Bastille, site of the infamous fortress where the French Revolution began… And that's just the beginning…

Ranch life in la Camargue

An exclusive provençal experience on a family owned ranch in la camargue.

Drive past marshy fields of grazing bulls and white horses to a privately owned ranch in la Camargue, where the Rhône meets the sea, and experience a different taste of Provençal life for Tauck guests only. It begins with a horseback welcome by the warm-hearted family who lives here, continues with a farm-fresh feast of locally produced fare and a heartfelt guitar serenade, and culminates in a display of skill by Provençal cowboys (known as gardians) that will have your heart racing at every turn.

Tauck Exclusive – Early-opening visit to Monet's Giverny

Our exclusive early-opening visit to claude monet's home and gardens in giverny.

In springtime, the famous villa and gardens in the village of Giverny is awash in pink and green, adorned in wisteria, azalea and water lilies, and basked in dappled sunlight reminiscent of the works of its 43-year resident, painter Claude Monet. Our exclusive early-opening visit to the pioneer Impressionist's retreat shows you the artist's home as he lived it and painted it. Monet's pink stucco house gives the impression that his family of 10 still lives there; its rooms showcase private furnishings, and his collection of Japanese prints adorn walls throughout. Walk along pathways bordered with nasturtiums, hollyhocks, hybrid lilies or snapdragons, and go through the tunnel that leads to the Water Garden and the Japanese Bridge.

Featured River, Small Ship and Land Journeys

Inspired by the destination.

For 90+ years, the Tauck family has had a passion for sailing — aboard small ships and yachts at sea, riverboats along great inland waterways, and at home on the rivers and lakes of Connecticut and New York. When we began blending our land experience with our strong passion for cruising in our first European river cruise back in 1992, we knew that no "ordinary" river cruise experience would do for our guests. We wanted them to travel Europe's rivers in the same beyond-the-ordinary Tauck style they experienced on our land trips. With that in mind, we searched to find a company to partner with that would share our values and our commitment to "do the right thing" by our guests... and found it in another family-owned company, Scylla. Together, we crafted a river cruise experience that was ahead of its time and inspired by the destinations we explore.

Guest Favorite France River Cruises

"This was our first Tauck river cruise; we were truly overwhelmed with the Tauck experience. We write this letter to express our deep appreciation for the outstanding Tauck experience on our French river cruise. The ship staff, Cruise Director, and Tour Directors were wonderful. Our excursions and special events went off seamlessly, and the 'extras' throughout the itinerary made our travels that much more memorable. The local guides throughout France were all extremely knowledgeable, personable, and very accommodating. Many thanks for our wonderful Tauck adventures… we were made to feel like we were part of a big, happy family." Peter and Sandra B., LA

RIVER CRUISING IS HOT!!!

The cruise industry's greatest success story in the past two decades has been the surge in growth and popularity of river cruises. With an ever increasing number of new river cruise lines and river boats introduced, and river cruise companies adding new itineraries to more destinations, coupled with the ever expanding interest in river cruises by the traditional ocean cruising population looking for something new, many more lucky travelers are able to enjoy the more intimate, immersive and attentive experience that river cruises bring to the world!

River cruising is a type of travel that involves navigating a river on a small, often luxurious, ship. Unlike ocean cruises, river cruises take passengers on journeys through inland waterways, such as the Danube, Rhine, Nile, Yangtze, Mekong, and many other rivers around the world. River cruises typically offer a more intimate and relaxed experience than ocean cruises, with smaller ships and fewer passengers. The itineraries often focus on exploring smaller towns and cities along the river, allowing passengers to get a closer look at the local culture and history. This can include visits to historical landmarks, museums, and cultural sites, as well as opportunities to sample local food and wine. River cruises often include a variety of amenities and services, such as fine dining, entertainment, educational lectures, and excursions. Some river cruises are all-inclusive, while others offer optional add-ons for certain activities or services. River cruising has become a popular way to explore Europe, Asia, and other regions of the world, with many cruise lines offering a wide variety of itineraries and ship sizes to suit different preferences and budgets.

With so many River Cruise Companies vying for this ever increasing number of passengers, each claiming to be the best option in the Budget, First Class or Deluxe categories, it has becomes quite difficult for travelers to know which is the best River Cruise Company, River Boat, Destination or Itinerary for them! Without years of experience and the knowledge and access to information that those years bring, consumers run the risk of paying more than they need to, or getting less than they expected to!

That is where we come in! RiverCruiseLines.com, a service of Smart Traveler and MisterCruise.com, puts you in touch with the best cruise counselors for your lifestyle and budget - and our service is FREE.

In fact, we guarantee that, at the time of your river cruise reservation, you will never pay more than if you booked it yourself directly! So, please, look around, get some ideas, and whenever you feel ready for some assistance, simply fill out the River Cruise Quote Request Form. A Scenic River Cruise through Bordeaux Wine Country

Scenic Diamond in Bordeaux

Guest bloggers John and Sandra Nowlan take a Scenic River Cruise through Bordeaux wine country, exploring vineyards deeply rooted in the history of the region.

In France, the best wines are served with the cheese course, just before dessert. In our case, we were at Chateau Giscours , a huge wine-growing estate in the Margaux region of Bordeaux for a gala dinner organized by the staff of our river cruise ship, Scenic Diamond.

As we cruised along the Garonne and Gironde Rivers in Southwestern France, our 120 fellow guests had been pampered for several days by fine service and excellent complimentary wines at both lunch and dinner on the ship. But the outstanding French wines and wonderful cuisine served at this dress-up affair were particularly tasty. The cheese course included Ossau-Iraty, named the best cheese in the world, accompanied by a superb Chateau Giscours 2001 Grand Cru.

Meeting the Scenic Diamond in Bordeaux

Our week-long adventure began in Bordeaux, an historic UNESCO World Heritage city of a quarter million, second only to Paris in the number of preserved buildings from the 18 th  century. We stayed in one of them – The Intercontinental Bordeaux Grand Hotel . This opulent hotel, with its 86 rooms and 44 suites, overlooks the central Place de la Comédie and the remarkable Opera House, dating from 1780.

Intercontinental Bordeaux Grand Hotel

Famed Scottish chef Gordon Ramsay runs a two-star Michelin restaurant at the hotel but, sadly, it wasn’t open when we were there. But the celebrity chef also supervises a second restaurant. Brasserie Le Bordeaux Gordon Ramsay emphasizing fresh and local ingredients. His lamb shank, accompanied by onion rings the size of donuts and creative lemon meringue pie were special treats.

Gordon Ramsay's Lamb Shank and Onion Rings

The next morning our ship, the Scenic Diamond, awaited us along the tidal Garonne River (it even has a tidal bore , like Moncton’s). Scenic, an Australian company with a reputation for luxury now has 16 river boats covering much of Europe and Asia.

Truly all-inclusive

River cruising in Europe is now highly competitive but Scenic prides itself on having fewer guests (about 150 compared with 180 on other similar sized ships) and a total all-inclusive policy.

As they told is, “Once you step on board, everything is included.”

Our room had a very comfortable bed, a small “sun lounge” balcony (most river ships have only a French balcony) with two chairs, a mini-fridge with pop, water, wine and spirits, and snacks replenished daily. A personal butler is available for any request; ours, named Bora, was wonderful.

Bora serves fresh oysters to Sandra Nowlan

Free laundry is included and there’s free W-Fi throughout the ship. The high-res TV has many channels and movies, and every guest has a Scenic Tailormade GPS unit for guided tours. (Most river ships now have a QuietVox for their tours and we found the Scenic unit to be a bit large and cumbersome as well as difficult to charge.)

All tours and gratuities are included with Scenic and even electric-assisted bicycles are available at no cost.

Fine wines on ship and shore

If you like fine wines, this region of France is ideal for touring. The Bordeaux region, with 10,000 wine producing chateaux, includes famous names like Médoc, Saint-Émilion, Graves, Pomerol, Entre-Deux-Mers and, for superb sweet wines, Sauternes. Its 120,000 hectares of vineyards produce over 800 million bottles of wine annually, accounting for a quarter of total French production.

All meals on Scenic Diamond were accompanied by impressive French wines (even Moet Champagne for mimosas at breakfast). This was the first cruise of the spring season and service was a bit chaotic the first evening but the food and service improved as the week progressed.

The lamb, beef, chicken and pork dishes were wonderful but all the fish was frozen and varied in quality. Salad choices and imaginative vegetables with French cheeses at the noon buffet were superb. The chef did bring in fresh produce at several stops. Scenic Diamond also has a small, specialty restaurant at the front of the ship called L’Amour. We enjoyed the six-course set menu with perfect wine pairings. The truffle honey with cheese course was especially memorable.

Exploring the banks of the rivers

Cruisers ready for a bike tour

Every day a choice of tours was available and almost all of them were wine-oriented. As we saw, on foot, and from the three dedicated Scenic buses, almost every square mile was filled with vineyards alongside impressive and historic chateaux. We visited numerous wineries, some of which were on properties dating back to Roman times. At all of them, we had a chance to sample many outstanding vintages that gave us new appreciation for the variety and quality of French wine.

Vineyards of Bordeaux

We particularly enjoyed our visits to St. Emilion, known for its full-bodied red wines, especially Merlot. The UNESCO protected town, which now boasts of a wine shop for every eight residents, was named for a miracle-working monk who lived in a nearby cave around 750 AD. Those massive limestone caves, with their consistent temperatures, have been used for wine storage for centuries. There’s even a 12 th  Century church in the village, St. Emilion Monolithic, which is carved out of the limestone.

Guided walking tour of St Emilion

With the wonderful, rich red wines of Bordeaux, it was surprising to learn that the world’s most famous sweet wines are also produced here, around the small village of Sauternes in the Graves section of Bordeaux. Endless vineyards and huge chateaux cover the landscape including Chateau d’Yquem whose exquisite sweet Sauterne can sell for thousands of dollars a bottle.

Grapevines and history are interwoven throughout the Bordeaux region and we visited some remarkable towns (Cadillac, a walled village founded in 1280, was particularly impressive) and castles (the massive Chateau de Roquetaillade, dating from about 1306, has been lived in by the same family for over 700 years).

Chateau de Roquetaillade

Committed cruisers

Scenic guests are very loyal with many on our ship who have done multi-cruises. Most are middle aged to senior (Australian, American and Canadian) with a love of travel combined with an appreciation of good food and wine. As one guest told us, “I’ve learned a lot on this cruise. I don’t ever want to go on vacation where I don’t learn something every day.”

Many luxury travelers are skeptical about taking cruise vacations. They associate cruises with mediocre, calorific buffet food; cramped, ill-designed cabins; hoards of people with lines at every turn; not being able to get off the beaten path; and being nickeled and dimed for extras. If you are cruise avoidant, a voyage on the Crystal Symphony will dispel any such misgivings.

This looks like a very interesting tour! I had a lovely tour of the vineyards in Canada and saw how various types of wine are made, including the very special ice wine. Memorable!

We sampled ice wine on a river cruise to Canada! So nice how cruises enable you to learn about and try new things, including libations!

THANK YOU John and Sandra…

So wonderful to relive my own experience in August of this year. SCENIC certainly is the ULTIMATE when it comes to cruising the rivers in the BORDEAUX region…….was exciting to navigate the bridges in the city of Bordeaux and to sample the delicious wines grown, matured and bottled in the region…… I did enjoy the excursion to ST EMILION but I thing BERGERAC was my absolute favourite little French Village. BORDEAUX itself has surpassed PARIS as my most loved French City…..surprised me in so many ways.

Would do it all again in a heartbeat……..

Great place to spend weekend outside city

It's definitely one of the best in the out-of-city area. Short distance drive from the city, fresh air and well cared area, tasty food, good service, rooms renovated. Rooms sound protection is excellent which is not so common... Agree with one of the previous reviews - go for a Studio instead of standard room, as standard is too small and may make you feel prisoned. The area is big enough for a walk, but not really huge: a vast space is given for golf fields, and you're of course not allowed to walk there. A small beach area is ok - with both grass and sand. There's also a small pond, and although there's a sign "not to swim" we did it at our own risk from the boat (and so did many others), which was fine. Perfect place for a weekend relax, but keep in mind it's overpriced like everything around Moscow. Food is great but expensive - so I took some wine & cheese from home, to save on room service. More

The name of this "Country Club" is misleading. It is NOT IN MOSCOW. It is in a suburb almost an hour and a half from the airport and an hour from Red Square. The location was so remote our cab driver could not find it. Keep in mind also that you will be spending lots of time in Moscow's horrible traffic at all hours coming to and from here. There is nothing, I repeat nothing else in this area except a frozen golf course. The rooms were average and outrageously priced at $250 a night. Staff were not especially friendly or accommodating. The "breakfast buffet" consisted mostly of pickled fish, meat, cheese and bad coffee. Unless you are a golfer and it is the summertime, this is definitely NOT a lodging option for doing anything in Moscow, or anything at all for that matter.

Thank you for your response. The name - "Le Meridien Moscow Country Club" contain information that our resort locates in Moscow region, not in Moscow. We provide all details about our location on the our web site. We very much appreciate that you have taken so much time and trouble to give us such detailed information about this incident as constructive criticism, like yours, is always most welcome since it helps us ensure that we offer the services and standards that our discerning guests so rightly expect in any Le Meridien Hotel or Resort around the world. Once again thank you for your kind understanding and, in closing, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club

This hotel is located not in the Moscow but in its suburb so it is not suit for those who have some business in the city. But for weekend this place is extremely comfortable and convinient. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and well equipped with bath and other facilities of 5-star hotel. You can enjoy large swimming pool and some different saunas. Breakfast. launch and dinner are quite good. The whole atmosphere is relaxing.

Thank you for having taken the time and trouble to write response! We look forward to welcoming you back to the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club in the not too distant future.

Stayed here 5 weekedns in a row from middle of June till middle of July 2010 for leisure Most of the rooms have undergone renovation and look very nice and cozy (I know what I am talking about as I stayed here 2 years ago and it was all earlier reviews were complaining about, but not now). The bulk of them are "studios" which in reality are more like junior suits with a nice sitting area. Recoomend you go for this type of room when you book as "standards" are half the size of "studios" and are not much cheaper. Unfortunately all rooms are smoking, but the staff was very helpful in letting me look at several studios untill I found the one without any smoke odor (this was provided during all my stays if I askd for it!). For me the biggest highlight of this hotel is their big size indoor swimming pool which opens up into a spacious terrace for sunbathing with sunbeds and chairs and a view on wooded alley and loans with flowers. They have several restaurants which offer indoor and outdor dining. My favorite was the one at the golf club, its outdoor terrace, but recently they put an ugly plastic curtain to seperate members' area from where non-members can sit. Apart from being ugly it destroyed the view on the golf course. Sports snackbar is actually a full style restaurant, also has an open terrace and best air conditioning inside (great if you got too much sun). An harp plays during beakfast (from around 09 am till 11 am on weekends) in the main restaurant and the choice of food is really wide (smoked salmon was my favorite). One secret about food that I myself learned about only last weekend. If you are on a budget you can go to a staff canteen which also serves guests. I checked it out. No thrills, frills, veiws or harps. Basic self-service, but lunch or dinner will cost you from three to ten US dollars. I do not play golf, so no comments on their 18 hole golf course except that the scenery is very beautiful. A 4 kilometr (around 2.4 miles) pedestrian/bicycle path goes around it trough a pine, berch and fur tree wood and at times you feel like you are in the middle of Siberian taiga: these trees are really mighty, healthy and magnificent. And what an inspiring fragrant fresh wooden scent! On hotel's territory there is plenty of other things: a big pond where you can swim (not fo me) and take a boat ride, a sand beach, volley ball, tennis, basketball and playground for chidren. A night club offers karaoke. There is also a spa with Gurlain treatments. Highly recomend this hotel for those who want to spend a relaxing weekend or week in comfort near Moscow. But check first if they have any corporate parties on the dates you plan to come. There were a couple when I was there and it did not bother me at all. However, I heard that sometimes these could be events for up to 3,000 people. This could be a differnt story.

This hotel is located outside Moscow in nice relatively fresh-air location. It has one of the few nice golf courses in Russia. Otherwise, nothing special...

DO NOT stay at this hotel unless you really have to. I stayed at the country club for 2 nights for a conference, luckily the company paid the entire stay but it was still a big disappointment. The rates are really overpriced considering what you get. My company had to fork out a ridiculous amount of money to organise this conference and received no help whatsoever from the staff. We had to set up the conference room and even move chairs around. I can think long and hard but I don't have anything positive to say about this hotel. I was staying in a delux room which was really spacious and the decor was ok but I have seen what the standard rooms look like and they are quite simply apalling. Scratches on the walls, dated furniture, boiling hot, beds you sit on and your bum ends up on the floor, you name it. I would be interested to know how they got a 5-star rating... The things I hated the most: I found hair in my food, the building looks like a council estate, the staff don't speak English at all, wifi internet was expensive and very unreliable, it takes about 3 hours by taxi to get there from Domodedovo and 3000 ruples. The chairs in the conference room and restaurant are stained and dirty... I won't be rushing back!!
