South Asian Travel Awards 2022 concluded successfully at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi

Male’, Maldives, 5th October 2022 – The 6th edition of South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2022 held at Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi on September 29 – 30 has been successfully concluded.   

SATA is endorsed by over 16 regional and international bodies for its accredited work. Biggest hotelier brands in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry from Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh participates annually in the event. 

SATA has created a brand in South Asia, with respect, recognition and appreciation with international brands as partners and sponsors. This year, SATA has decided to rename the Best CSR Program category to Mr. Nishan Seneviratne CSR Program of SATA, following the unprecedented global challenges and the loss of one of its beloved team members.

The Vice President, Faisal Naseem, attended the event as the Chief Guest, along with Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and other government officials in addition to several hoteliers and entrepreneurs in the Maldives and in South Asia. 

The Opening Remarks for the event was delivered by Vice President of SATA, Mr. Suraj Khan. “It gives me great joy and excitement to have this opportunity to gather again and celebrate the finest of hospitality in South Asia after the pandemic brought our lives to a stand-still. It has been very encouraging to see that the participation has grown over the years and we have a lot of support from the travel fraternity across the South Asian region.”

South Asian Travel Awards 2022

The South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) for the year 2022   has been awarded on September 30 in a glittering award ceremony held at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi, the Maldives.  The function was attended by Mr. Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, along with Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism, the Maldives, and other government officials in addition to several hoteliers and entrepreneurs from India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. The SATA 2022 witnessed the presentation of 106 awards in various categories; 44 gold awards, 48 silver awards, and six visitor’s choice awards.

Indian hospitality brands Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel & Spa, Uday Palace Convention Center, and Citrine Hospitality Ventures bagged the South Asian Travel Award (SATA) 2022, while Maldives properties have won 30 awards including 21 gold awards and nine silver awards. at the 6th edition of the South Asian Travel Awards.

SATA has created a brand in South Asia, with respect, recognition, and appreciation of international brands as partners and sponsors. This year, SATA has decided to rename the Best CSR Program category to Mr. Nishan Seneviratne CSR Program of SATA, following the unprecedented global challenges and the loss of one of its beloved team members.

Mr. Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives in his inaugural address said how the tourism industry began in the Maldives 50 years ago and still moving ahead of the other Asian and Pacific Ocean countries in the tourism sector. He stated that it was the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice of a few young pioneers who, against all odds, overcame many challenges and introduced tourism to the country. He also added that the Maldives tourism industry and the government has big expectation in the coming season and all the preparation has been completed to welcome our guest from across the world to this beautiful island paradise.

According to Mr. Suraj Khan, Vice President of SATA in his opening remarks for the event, “It gives me great joy and excitement to have this opportunity to gather again and celebrate the finest of hospitality in South Asia after the pandemic brought our lives to a stand-still. It has been very encouraging to see that the participation has grown over the years and we have a lot of support from the travel fraternity across the South Asian region.”

Mr. Ismail Hameed, President of SATA handed over the ‘Leading Destination Promoter’ award to Citrine Hospitality, and Mr. Hussain Aman, Director of Sales Hawks awarded @vanyaholidayresort the ‘Leading Jungle Resort’ title in the presence of His Excellency Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives; Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism, Republic of the Maldives and Mr. Sooraj Khan, Vice President, SATA.

Maldives wins 31 awards at SATA 2022

The Maldives has won 31 awards at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2022. Vice President Faisal Naseem attended the awards ceremony which is one of the most prestigious tourism awards in South Asia. The award ceremony was held at Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi in the Maldives. A total of six South Asian countries competed for SATA 2022. More than 500 venues from six countries have been nominated for the awards. The awards have been endorsed by more than 15 organisations in the Maldives and abroad. Resorts in the Maldives won the Leading Adventure Provider Award, Leading Liveaboard Award, Leading Beach Winner Award, Leading Dive Centre Brand Award, Leading GSA Award, Leading Tourist Transfer Provider Award, Leading Surf Hotel Resort Award, and Leading Travel Agent Outbound. Additionally, the Maldives won the Leading Family Resort Award, Leading Designer Resort Award, Leading PSA Award, Leading Dive Resort Award, Leading Yacht Marina Resort Award, Leading Tourist Provider Land and Sea Award, Leading Liveaboard Brand Award, Leading Airport Hotel Award, Leading All-Inclusive Resort Award, and Leading Beach Resort Award, The Maldives also won the Leading Boutique Hotel Resort Award, Leading Business Hotel Award, Leading Eco-Friendly Resort Award, Leading Guesthouse Tourist Inn Award, Leading Heritage Hotel Award, Leading Luxury Hotel Resort Award, Leading Wedding Hotel Resort Award, Leading Wellness Resort Award, most Romantic Resort Award, and Leading Honeymoon Destination Award. The SATA 2021 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 awards ceremony was held online.

Platinum Grand wins South Asian Travel Awards

Platinum Grand, the hospitality wing of Sheltech Group, won the most prestigious South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2023 for the second time in a row.

The South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) has been recognising the best of South Asia's (India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka) hospitality and travel industry since 2016. 

The award-giving ceremony was held on 24 December at the InterContinental in Dhaka, reads a press release.

Mahabub Hossen, deputy manager and Md Muttakin Sarker, assistant manager received the award on behalf of Platinum Grand.

At a glittering gala dinner on 30 September 2022, representatives from Dusit Thani Maldives were delighted to celebrate the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2022 and receive the Gold Award for Nishan Senevirathe Best CSR Programme and the Gold Award for Leading Family Resort.

SATA has been recognising the best of South Asia’s hospitality and travel industry since 2016. The prestigious annual event – hosted this year at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi in the Maldives – honours stellar organisations and individuals in a range of categories. Eligible candidates can be nominated in up to three categories, and the winners are selected in two phases: 40% via online votes from the public and 60% by hotel presentation.

The team from Dusit Thani Maldives was honoured to be awarded gold in two categories that reflect Dusit’s core value of care: CSR and family. Attending the gala on behalf of the whole staff were General Manager Jacques Leizerovici and Marketing and Communications Manager Iryna Okopova.

Leizerovici said, “We are delighted to accept these awards, which are a testament to the dedication and the hard work of the entire team. We value the recognition for our commitment to sustainability as we continue to create unforgettable experiences for guests of all ages.”

From 4 July – 12 August, a youth coach will lead a comprehensive Real Madrid Foundation programme of daily soccer sessions for ages 5-9yrs, 10-14yrs, and 15-17yrs. In 1993 "Elektrostal" was transformed into an open joint stock company. The factory occupies a leading position among the manufacturers of high quality steel. The plant is a producer of high-temperature nickel alloys in a wide variety. It has a unique set of metallurgical equipment: open induction and arc furnaces, furnace steel processing unit, vacuum induction, vacuum- arc furnaces and others. • Victor Mukhin

Victor M. Mukhin was born in 1946 in the town of Orsk, Russia. In 1970 he graduated the Technological Institute in Leningrad. Victor M. Mukhin was directed to work to the scientific-industrial organization "Neorganika" (Elektrostal, Moscow region) where he is working during 47 years, at present as the head of the laboratory of carbon sorbents.     Victor M. Mukhin defended a Ph. D. thesis and a doctoral thesis at the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (in 1979 and 1997 accordingly). Professor of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Scientific interests: production, investigation and application of active carbons, technological and ecological carbon-adsorptive processes, environmental protection, production of ecologically clean food.
