The Journey Church, Manchester

The Journey Church's mission is to be living out God’s dream for the world. God’s dream is the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven. It’s for healing, restoration and renewal of our relationship with God, our neighbour and creation. The Journey Church lives out God’s dream by following Christ and helping their neighbours follow Christ. They especially help students and families from many nations follow Christ.

Hope for the harvest

11 February 2022 It turned out there is always a way to sow the seed of God’s word! We adapted. Like many, we started to sow God’s word through social media. Our church has grown during the pandemic through new believers finding community and faith. We met one guy in his 30s in an online Bible study. As his faith grew he decided to get baptised, which we did in a very cold Manchester lake at the height of the winter lockdown.

WHY is giving important? ‍ Giving is a form of worship and a response to God’s boundless grace and generosity. It expresses that all we have and give already belongs to God. Giving reminds us that God is our provider and we trust him. We should desire to give— cheerfully, sacrificially and regularly —because that is how God has given to us (cf. Romans 8:32). WHO should consider giving? All followers of Jesus are invited to support God’s work through the local church. Throughout history giving was a dignity and opportunity extended to everyone, regardless of how much they had to give (cf.   2 Corinthians 8:3-4). God has placed the Church in the world to impact the world with the message of grace and forgiveness through Jesus. That can only happen when those who follow Jesus also support the work of the church.  Why should I consider GIVING TO The Journey? How is the money used here? ‍ When you give to The Journey, you are also a part of what God is doing in our local communities and across the world. Your contributions support everything we do at each of our Journey churches. Bible studies, maintenance, missionaries, staff, Sunday services, even coffee are all funded by the giving of our members and attenders.  For more details on The Journey’s annual budget, please take a look at the budget reports made available through The Journey’s Church Center app .  HOW do I determine how much to give? ‍ God does not need our money. He is after our hearts. But it is impossible to truly love God and not obey his call to give. It is a matter of the heart and meant to be a joyful expression of thanks to God from the heart.The New Testament encourages giving without providing specific percentages or numbers. The amount we give should come through active seeking of His will for our finances and should be a sacrifice that requires us to trust God (cf. Psalm 50:14-15).
