This list features a lot of cool songs you’ve to put on your phone. However, and always remember this, go out there and create your own travel songs.

What do we mean by that?

During your travels you will end up in a lot of fun situations.

You will collect memories, and a few songs will take part in it. Then, when you are back home or wherever, you will hear this special song in the radio – and it takes you right back to those fun situations you will cherish forever.

For us, this is for instance “We don’t talk anymore” – we traveled Vietnam for 3 months and some local in every single village, town and city played it at least once. We turned crazy, yet it’s today a part of the experience. Then in Labuan Bajo, while taking the boat cruise around the Komodo National Park, the boat crew only had only one song to play, HIOKO TOBELO 2 – Yopie Latul .

I’ve spent my entire life going on vacations to the beach. We live about 3 hours from Ocean City, Maryland so that has always been our vacation spot every summer. And since we are a family of teachers, it worked out especially well during our summer break.

The Beach Boys songs went on every vacation with us for years, so today their songs bring me great joy! I have such wonderful memories! Plus, who doesn’t have a little summer love story that comes to mind when you listen to some of these songs?

We wanted to hear, what songs inspire travel, make you think of a destination, or simply make you want to hit the road, so we asked our readers to share their favorite songs about travel.

We had such an awesome response that now have a huge list of the best travel songs as chosen by you ! There were a lot of duplicate votes for but after adding up the choices, these are the top songs.

Nothing makes me want to go to Africa more than this song by Toto.

They capture it beautifully with their lyrics and each time I listen to it, I am brought back to camping in the desert listening to the dog crying out in the night.

Or it makes me think of climbing Kilimanjaro towering over the Serengeti. And it has had a renaissance getting a lot of air time.

Dina Rosita Koudys says “ Not exactly about traveling, but it does mention Africa, Kilimanjaro, and Serengeti. And I love the song!

We replied to Dina saying,  “We think Africa is exactly a travel song. It is our favorite song about travel and makes us want to see the Serengeti again and again.”

2. Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran

Ireland is one of our favorite country’s to visit and when Ed Sheeran wrote about Galway it brought us right back to being in the pubs there.

A lot of playlists omit the modern travel songs, but musicians these days have explored more of the world than anyone. And Ed Sheeran is a huge traveler.

We saw Ed Sheeran on Graham Norton talking about his travels and we love his free spirit and down to earth attitude.

“I meet her on Grafton street right outside of the bar She shared a cigarette with me while her brother played the guitar She asked me what does it mean, the Gaelic ink on your arm? Said it was one of my friend’s songs, do you want to drink on?”

3. One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head

From the Musical Chess, this hit by Murray Head made me want to visit Bangkok in the 1990s.

Whenever I’m in the city, I can’t stop singing it!

“I said, “do you speak-a my language?” He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich And he said I come from a land down under Where beer does flow and men chunder”

4. Land Down Under by Men at Work

When thinking about travel music, this song is at the top for and Australian theme.

Men at work reference the Hippy Trail, muscles in Brussels and a den in Bombay.

All while bonding with people from the Land Down Under. Men at work are from Melbourne , Australia

5. Havana by Camila Cabello

This song takes me to Havana. The groove makes me feel that I am at a lounge in Cuba and I love it.

Even if Camila Cabello is taken to East Atlanta, her heart is always in Havana. Just like so many people feel when they visit Havana too!

6.  Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd

This song makes me want to go to the American South.

My favorite lyric is when they mention the recording studio Muscle Shoals.

“Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers And they’ve been known to pick a song or two (yes they do) Lord they get me off so much They pick me up when I’m feeling blue, now how bout you?”

After watching the documentary about Muscle Shoals, I now understand what that lyric is all about.

Carmen Davis-Harcum said.  “It’s My favourite travel song.” And we agree. I’ve been everywhere is the ultimate travel song!

If you want to add a song to your travel playlist that captures what it’s like to travel around.

I always envisioned this song being about Johnny Cash writing about his life on the road as a traveling musician.

“I’ve been everywhere, man I’ve been everywhere, man Crossed the deserts bare, man I’ve breatherd the mountain air, man Travel, I’ve had my share, man I’ve been everywhere”

He may not have been everywhere int he world, but he has definitely crossed all of the United States and Canada.

I’ve Been Everywhere by Johnny Cash does the trick.

 8. Route 66 by Nat King Cole

Route 66 certainly captures the heyday of America’s famous highway running across the country.

It makes me think of simpler (and tougher) times of people hitting the open road with nothing but dreams in their heads.

This song makes me want to get in the car and drive.

This song is apparently about when Adam was banished from the garden of Eden.

But when I listen to it, I think of travel and it transports me straight to the Middle East.

10. Where the Streets Have No Name by U2

The song is inspired by the streets of Ethiopia where there aren’t (or weren’t) any street names.

I remember cycling through Africa and we barely saw a road sign.

At the time, Ireland was still under a lot of civil unrest and Bono wrote about a place where class, religion and income are not indicitve of the street they live on.

11. Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones

Daniel Stein Says “ Sympathy For the Devil makes you want to drive. Who wouldn’t include this in their best travel songs playlist?”

So it had to be on our playlist even though it isn’t really about travel. It does talk about historical events around the world though.

Diane Grady .” We were camping year’s ago on Vancouver Island and a big motorhome pulled out playing”On the Road Again” through the loudspeakers. It was hilarious .

But you know what, On the Road Again is one of the most popular songs played when hitting the road.

14. Montego Bay by Amazulu

Whenever we go to Jamaica we sing this song. It is perfect for travel.

It not only captures the spirit and energy of Jamaica, it explains a lot about the island.

They drive on the island, they drink rum from a silver tray and greet you like a brother would.

“Vernon’ll meet me when the BOAC lands Keys to th M. G. will be in his hands Adjust to the driving ‘n’ I’m on my way It’s all on the right side in Montego Bay

BOAC is a British airplane and I love how they say, “it’s all on the right side, because when you are in Jamaica, you drive British style.

She says “ Even though it’s about heading home instead of away, it sure gets me groovin’ along like I want to leave.”

Genelle Gregorio “ Roam “ by the B-52s is a fantastic song for slideshows of your travels and to get you all pumped up about traveling and seeing the world.

“Roam if you want to Roam around the world Roam if you want to Without wings, without wheels Roam if you want to Roam around the world Roam if you want to Without anything but the love we feel”

17. Leaving on a Jet Plane by Chantal Kreviazuk

Jenny Leach “ We love this track when we are traveling . Leaving on a Jet Plane just screams travel song! Famous recordings are from Peter Paul and Mary, and John Denver.

“All my bags are packed I’m ready to go I’m standin’ here outside your door I hate to wake you up to say goodbye”

While the song is more about leaving for work (most likely the life of a rock n roll band, it still makes us think about traveling.

This song has been re-done a lot over the years, our favorite version is from the movie Armageddon  by Chantal Kreviazuk.

18. Kokomo by The Beach Boys

Keith Jenkins of Velvet Escape chose Kokomo. This makes me think of the beach for sure.

What we love about Kokomo is that it is a made up place by the Beach Boys, but it sure makes you want to go there. And it captures the spirit of the islands.

Sheri Anderson Wallace  said. “ I love that travel song because it captures all the pieces of a road trip. What could be more of a travel song than a song about road tripping?

We say, it also inspired us to get ourselves to Graceland and see Elvis’ home in Memphis Tennessee.

We’ll never forget visiting Kenya and seeing photographs of Paul Simon at a lodge we stayed at in the Masai Mara. He stayed here with Carry Fisher and it was this place that inspired his music for the album Graceland. I think that was one of the coolest things to see that we stayed at the same lodge.

Merav Benaia  told us that it’s the travel song that makes me want to pack my bag and hop on a flight. (event though it’s about taking the bus)

Some folks like to get away Take a holiday from the neighborhood Hop a flight to Miami Beach or to Hollywood But I’m takin’ a Greyhound on the Hudson River line I’m in a New York state of mind

I love New York and this is a love song dedicated to the beautiful State.

Whenever we’re in New Orleans , this is the song that comes to mind. It has amazing energy and gets you in the mood to hop on a riverboat and explore!

It wasn’t until we took a riverboat tour in New Orleans that we even understood what big wheel keeps on turnin’ meant. It’s the big wheel that propels these riverboats. Cool eh?

Lorna Hazen-Francavilla said.  “ It is one of those “roll down the windows and makes crank the tunes kind of songs!”

Even though it is a song about dissing America, a lot of people look at it as a tribute to America. Regardless, it is a song that has a lot of energy.

When we were in Kathmandu before climbing to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

This song captures the wanderlust of travel.

Okay, so it might be an anti travel song, but if you just listen to the chorus, London is calling!

so even though the lyrics are pretty angry and depressing, I always sing it when I go to London.

I said this in our best road trip songs post, and I’ll say it again, I loved listening to this song while cycling down the continent of Africa .

The world looked America for so much when he sang this. Hopefully, it will get it’s welcoming status back again in our life.

I had never heard this song before watching the Umbrella Academy on Netflix. When I heard it, it was my new favourite travel song.

We’ve been to Istanbul many times and we did know that it was once called Constantinople.

Istanbul was Constantinople Now it’s Istanbul, not Constantinople Been a long time gone, Constantinople Now it’s Turkish delight on a moonlit night

So now whenever we go back, you know we are going to be singing this song. It is so much fun.

I just love James Taylor’s calm and soothing voice. And that is exactly what travel is meant to do – calm and sooth.

A lot of can’t travel right now, but we do go to places in our mind, and this captures that daydreaming part of our lives where we imagine being somewhere else.

The Chain At Streamsong Is A Concept Golf Needs More Of

Ego is a difficult thing to strip away in golf . Every time you arrive at a course, you’re looking to prove something to yourself and others.

The pressures can be internal and external, but they arrive all the same. Each golfer, no matter the level, is in constant pursuit of a magic number, a score they have in their mind that determines whether a round was successful or not. From there, you have a desire to push yourself to play better at a higher difficulty. Golfers routinely try to push their limits by playing from further back tee markers, even though they may have no business there. That’s ego. The old idea of tees for men, seniors, and women linger and are hard to break free of, even if the game can be more enjoyable once you do.

It’s hard to let go of those thoughts at a traditional course, particularly if you play to keep a handicap. But Streamsong’s new short course, The Chain ($79 for preview play, $139 starting October 1), forces golfers to think differently and let go of that ego by getting rid of the concepts that govern a traditional course.

The 19-hole Coore and Crenshaw design, which features 6-hole and 13-hole loops, can be played from 1,576 yards to 2,916 yards and, quite literally, anywhere in between. That’s because there are no tee markers and there is no score to par. The course was designed as a match play course, with teeing areas designated by old dragline chains (hence the name). Links are embedded in the ground designating the start and finish of the teeing area. Where you hit from in between is entirely up to you.

I got the chance to play The Chain at the beginning of May as part of a press trip, as Streamsong invited half a dozen writers down to see the course now that it’s fully open for play. We played as a 12-some in two-man teams — which is easily the largest group I’ve ever been a part of, but Streamsong is happy to send out larger groups (up to 8) on the Chain — playing a scramble for skins. The result was one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I’ve played in a long time, and it made me think about golf a bit differently.

We played The Chain as the third of four rounds at Streamsong, playing each of the courses on property: Black upon arrival, Red and The Chain on our second day, and Blue the morning before flying home. One of the things that I found most impressive is how playable all three of Red, Blue, and Black were, no matter the skill level, while still presenting a great test of your game.

Striking the balance between fun and challenging is difficult, because if you lean too far one way or the other, you’ll lose interest from either low or high handicap players. The courses at Streamsong toe that line extremely well. Each present a unique challenge since they were all crafted by different course designers, but there are shared characteristics that carry throughout the property.

There are very few forced carries, the fairways and greens are generous, and most greens present the option to run the ball up just as successfully as flying it to the pin. There’s room for mistakes, as there’s no out of bounds on the property. But to score well, you have to be precise. The fairways are large, especially at Blue and Black, and missing them puts you in a waste bunker or native area. You’re immediately put on the back foot to make pars. Greens in regulation is a meaningless stat on the large green surfaces, as having any chance at birdie requires finding the correct level of the ever-undulating green complexes. Any miss on the wrong side of the hole will make two putting a challenge, whether you’re coming up or down a slope, and patience is a must, as you have to accept that a 12-footer is often the best look you’ll get.

The Chain follows the formula of the other three courses similarly, with difficult green plots and even more size variance than the big courses — a few of the greens are tiny in comparison to Red, Blue, and Black. They present a number of challenges and precision is a must to give yourself looks at a two. The best example of the movement of the greens comes at the signature 11th hole, which features a massive punch bowl green with a few huge ridges and a 14-foot tall pin so you can see it from the tee.

Well-placed bunkers gobble up loose shots around the greens, and playing the slopes properly is vital to getting it (and keeping it) close, as runoffs can leave tricky chips back up to the green surface. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw made clear when constructing the course that it would not be a “pitch and putt,” and that holds true when you play it. Ball control is everything at The Chain, both in being sharp with distances and in shot shaping.

As such, it is not ease that makes The Chain such an enjoyable experience, but the freedom of concept to give yourself the challenge you want.

Being a match play course without par on the card further encourages you to get more aggressive and creative. The only impact of a bad hole is losing that hole, not derailing the entire round. That, in and of itself, loosens up a mental block and allows you to swing freely. I saw the impact of that firsthand on one of the guys in our group. He battled the shanks on both rounds at Red and Blue book-ending our visit to The Chain, but in a 6-team scramble where the pressure was alleviated, he hit every single shot square out of the face on the short course. The internal pressure was removed, and suddenly that swing was flowing once again.

So much of golf is about dealing with the constraints and the mental stress the course presents you. The Chain still offers challenges, but also the ability to eliminate danger or bring more into play with where you tee it up. That opens the game up so much, particularly for groups that have wide variance in terms of handicaps. You can make The Chain play how you want it. That could be extremely difficult, constantly hitting mid- to long-irons into firm, fast, sloping greens, or you could play 16 of the 19 holes from inside 120 yards and put your group’s wedge game to the test. You can also play it every day of a trip and not hit the same shot twice on one hole.

From Shorty’s at Bandon Dunes to The Hay at Pebble Beach, golf resorts are adding more short courses to their properties. That’s largely to open up opportunities for groups to play multiple rounds in a day. At Streamsong, peak season is in the winter, meaning only the first hour of tee times have a chance to play 36 at Black, Red, and Blue. The Chain allows for another round — either 6, 13, or 19 holes — even when light is short during non-daylight savings.

However, within that short course boom, The Chain offers something unique and, I think, needed in the world of golf . It’s not the first course designed specifically for match play, but it’s one of the very few that’s available to the public. For a destination built for groups of friends to come in and play golf together, it’s such a natural fit that it’s a bit surprising there aren’t more like it. It encourages groups to have let go of the ego, get a little more creative, and have a bit more fun.

Sweden’s third city is warming up to host the “Olympics of camp”, otherwise known as the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

This week Malmö is preparing to host 26 finalists, competing to deliver the continent’s catchiest - or at least most memorable - pop song. The Swedish city joined by an 8km bridge to Copenhagen, Denmark is the perfect host for the competition as a cosmopolitan borer town and due to Sweden’s heritage as seven-times champion.

What began as a parochial bit of light entertainment - a mystery to the remaining six continents, including some Europeans - the competition has since become a global phenomenon. Last year the competition in Liverpool attracted 162 million viewers , inspired an acclaimed feature film with Will Ferrell and tallied votes from 144 countries. Considering New Zealand cast the fifth-highest number of online votes last year outside of the 37 participating countries, it appears the competition has turned a new global audience on to eurotrash pop music.

Or maybe they’re just also in on the joke now.

As the Euros return to Sweden 50 years after Abba won with Waterloo - and prepare to enter an eighth decade of sequin-coated extravagance - it’s worth pointing out the song competition goes back a lot further than that.

The competition was founded by Swiss broadcaster Marcel Bezençon in 1956. Though sometimes divisive and often controversial, the song contest was founded to promote peace and unity in Europe, pitting countries against each other in friendly competition, less than a decade after the end of World War II. A less idealistic motive was to test new live television broadcast equipment with a relatively cheap-to-produce variety show.

It was supposedly inspired by the Sanremo Song Competition, although the 1950s song contest held in the casino close to Monte Carlo had a very different vibe to today’s TV extravaganza. Think dinner jackets and crystal candelabra, with far fewer pyrotechnics and bearded queens.

Some 68 years later it has morphed from something resembling an Ian Fleming novel into a camp gala of pop culture. Hosted by the previous winning entry’s home nation, each year it puts the spotlight on their millions of prospective tourists.

This year it’s all to sing for.

Why are Australia and Israel in Eurovision?

Good question. Neither are geographically in Europe.

Despite Australia being on the opposite side of the globe from the Continent, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) extended an invitation to Canberra and broadcaster SBS 10 years ago.

Australia officially entered the competition in 2014, although Eurovision had been broadcast Downunder since 1981.

This year Electric Fields will represent Australia at the Eurovision contest. While under normal rules the winning entry’s country has to host the competition the following year, an Aussie victory would require them to nominate another country in the bloc to host it for them.

Israel was the first non-European country to participate, first taking part in 1973 because the Israeli national broadcaster was already an EBU member. Having hosted the competition in Jerusalem three times off the back of three victories, Israel last won the competition in 2018 with performer Netta.

There are still no offers for New Zealand to compete.

Who has won the Eurovision the most times?

After Loreen of Sweden won the 2023 event - as only the second person ever to win the title more than once - this year’s hosts and Ireland are now level-pegging with seven titles each.

Although Ireland has a long history of success, it hasn’t had a winning entry since 1997.

Abba might be the host nation’s most famous export and Waterloo the first Eurovision song that comes to mind.

Canadian singer Celene Dion won in 1988 as honorary entry for Switzerland, singing Ne partez pas sans moi .

However, the most famous song to debut at Eurovision is arguably Domenico Mudugno’s Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu , which you’ll otherwise known as Volare . From Pavarotti to David Bowie and Dean Martin, it’s an Italian crooner for the ages.

Is Eurovision a joke? What do song contest winners get?

Unlike other international competitions, there are no cash prizes or rewards. First place earns exactly the same reward as 37th place - each country’s entry is in it “pour l’honneur seulement”.

In fact, if you win your home nation be expected to pay to host the competition.

Kaibrienne was just eliminated from American Idol season 22 after judge Katy Perry saved McKenna Faith Breinholt. Those two singers and the other contestants have received fantastic mentoring from the likes of Tori Kelly , Jelly Roll, Gene Simmons, Meghan Trainor and Shania Twain.

Now singer Ciara is joining that list of superstar performers who will help the finalists as they navigate the next round of the competition on American Idol . The news was revealed during the most recent episode, when the Top 8 performed in the Judges' Song Contest , which saw Katy win yet again. The Top 7 will be performing two songs each in the April 5 episode , one of which will be chosen from Adele's catalog, while the other song is part of a new theme called Songs That Make Me Wanna Dance. It's that latter theme that will see Ciara appear as the guest mentor.

Ciara's mentor news wasn't the only exciting announcement that came out of American Idol season 22's Judges' Song Contest episode. Ryan Seacrest also revealed that when the annual Disney Night comes back in a couple of weeks on May 12, the Top 5 won't merely be performing two songs each from the vast Disney catalog; they'll also be traveling to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida . A guest mentor hasn't been announced yet, but past Disney Night mentors include Sofia Carson , Derek Hough, John Stamos, Rebel Wilson and Idina Menzel.

Disney Night has become an annual tradition for American Idol now that the hit singing competition show is on ABC, which is owned by Disney. It has also given Katy the opportunity to dress up as various Disney characters every year, including Snow White, Ursula, Mrs. Jumbo, Tinker Bell, Ariel and Elastigirl. Since Katy is leaving after American Idol season 22, this will be her final time getting into the Disney spirit.

The popular time-travel romance K-drama Lovely Runner is all set to air its highly awaited episode 10 this May 2024. The previous episode ended on a gripping note. Ryu Sun Jae ( Byeon Woo Seok ) asks Im Sol ( Kim Hye Yoon ) if she is from the future. Thus, the upcoming episode is much anticipated.

tvN has dropped a trailer for Lovely Runner episode 10, which displays how the new episode will unfold. The trailer also reveals the release date and time of the episode. The tenth episode of the K-drama will debut on tvN on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 . The airtime of the episode is 8:50 p.m. KST .

As mentioned earlier, episode 10 of Lovely Runner will be released on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN. The episode will also be available on the streaming platform Viki on the same day.

As displayed in the preview trailer for the upcoming episode, Ryu Sun Jae (Byeon Woo Seok) has somehow realized that Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) has come to the past from the future. He wonders what he should do now that he knows that the girl he likes is from the future. It seems like Sun Jae’s friend, Baek In Hyuk, thinks that it is an absolutely absurd idea. 

Then, the trailer for Lovely Runner episode 10 shows Kim Tae Sung (Song Geon-Hee) coming to see Sol with a bouquet in his hand. He may have come to return the bag that was exchanged during their meeting before the field trip. Sun Jae sees the two together and becomes quite jealous. Then, the trailer sees Sol getting jealous of another girl at her university who wants to date Ryu Sun Jae. As the girl tries to get closer to Sun Jae, Im Sol becomes furious.

After that, in the trailer, Sun Jae and Tae Sung lash out at each other, as both of them like Im Sol a lot and are jealous of each other. At the end of the trailer, Sun Jae asks Sol if she has ever liked him during all this time. In response, Sol lies and tells him that she has never. Then, viewers see Sun Jae at the airport as he is leaving for somewhere. The preview trailer ends with Sol running away from someone who is chasing her with a car. It looks like the criminal taxi driver has returned to attack Sol again.
