The After Hours Til Dawn Tour , if you guessed it, celebrates The Weeknd’s latest two albums, 2020’s After Hours and his January 2022 release, Dawn FM . So far on this tour, The Weeknd has broken attendance records in London and Milan, selling hundreds of thousands of tickets all across Europe.

The tour announcement arrives three months after Tesfaye revealed that he’d no longer make music as The Weeknd . “The visuals are vital to my career,” he told W Magazine in May before admitting, “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd.

“This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.” You can read the full interview  here .

In January, The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights was named as Spotify’s most-streamed song of all time , overtaking Ed Sheeran ’s Shape Of You .

Upon his last visit to Australia in December 2017, The Music reviewer Madelyn Tait commented that “The Weeknd proved himself as a phenomenal live act with an extensive discography of hits” at his Qudos Bank Arena show. It’s been too long since The Weeknd touched down on our shores, but now we have even more hits to witness.

After Hours Til Dawn global stadium tour continues through the fall

Diamond certified and award-winning artist The Weeknd has announced new dates for the expansion of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour with special guests Mike Dean and Chxrry22 hitting Australia and New Zealand. The next leg of the tour will kick off Monday, November 20th in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium, with stops in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland through December 7th.

The completely sold out global stadium run has been an incredible success, breaking attendance records and grossing more than $350 million dollars in revenue to date. The tour recently broke London Stadium’s attendance record with 160,000 concertgoers across two nights. The Weeknd also just wrapped with his largest headline show to date, breaking Wembley Stadium’s record for sales with a traditional concert set up with the stage at one end with 87,000 tickets sold. In Milan, The Weeknd sold over 159,000 tickets, making him the first artist to sell out two nights at Ippodromo La Maura and his shows in Paris marked the biggest sales for Stade de France this year, totaling to 151,000 across the two dates. In addition, The Weeknd’s shows in Nice, France sold 70,000 tickets across two shows – the highest in the city’s history.

United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye will again contribute funds from this next leg of the tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global food crisis. Over $1 million was raised for the fund via ticket sales during the recently wrapped European leg of the tour.

The fund also raised money during the North American leg of the tour through ticket sales, proceeds from an exclusive tour t-shirt, and a $500,000 donation directly from The Weeknd. The Weeknd’s corporate partners, tour venues, World Food Program USA board of directors and supporters also stepped up to contribute, as well as tour sponsor Binance, which contributed US$2 million to the fund. The first grant of $2 million will help provide emergency food and nutrition assistance to the most food-insecure regions of Ethiopia.

The global stadium tour celebrates The Weeknd’s 2020 album After Hours (it’s hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time , surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”), as well as his critically-acclaimed album Dawn FM , which was released January 2022.

The After Hours Til Dawn Tour is brought to you by Binance, revolutionizing the live entertainment industry with cutting-edge Web 3.0 technology. Binance users in Australia and New Zealand will have access to a special ticket presale for select shows, while supplies last. As a token of appreciation, eligible ticket holders in these countries will also receive limited-edition souvenir NFTs. Five percent of the sales will be donated to the XO Humanitarian Fund. You can find out more about what Binance has prepared for its users and others on the Binance Blog.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

Eminem Announces New Album 'The Death Of Slim Shady' With Bloody Teaser

Trending on billboard.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard . “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist . All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September , boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19 , the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.

The Weeknd Announces 2023 Australian Tour

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

The Weeknd is bringing his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour to Australia in late November and early December 2023. The Canadian musician will perform at stadium venues in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on his first visit to Australia in six years.

The tour gets its name from The Weeknd’s two most recent albums, 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM . The former included the single ‘Blinding Lights’, which US publication Billboard deemed the “top Billboard Hot 100 song of all time”.

The Weeknd – ‘Blinding Lights’

Earlier this year, The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye suggested he’s ready to abandon his professional alias . “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd,” he told  W Magazine . “This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”

“I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd,” he added. “But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”

Tesfaye recently starred as Tedros in the HBO series The Idol , alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan. He also co-created the show with Euphoria ‘s Sam Levinson and producer Reza Fahim. According to Forbes , the five-episode series was “by far” the “worst reviewed show” in HBO history.

-he interacted with the crowd

-he sings AMAZING live

-chill atmosphere

-performers/musicians were smoking weed on stage

-Abel took a longgg time to get on stage, we were there for almost two hours before he did

-crowd was very drunk & rude (not his fault)

-merchandise was very expensive (I payed $40 for a t-shirt)

This review might not be completely objective as Abel has been my favourite singer for a few years now. However, I can definitely admit the Starboy tour date in Paris was the best pop concert I've been to this year. Even though some songs could have been put out of the tracklist, he mostly sang his catchiest songs of his career, no matter the era. He has great, or should I say, tremendous energy as he continuously sang twenty-something songs with no pause in between. He has no trouble reaching high notes live, his voice sounding even more heavenly in real life. That night, he invited Travis Scott on stage who pumped up the crowd more than him, which is a shame and showcases very well his lack of success and recognition in France, yet, in a sold out stadium. Most people actually didn't even know his real name or the lyrics of his songs ! I would recommend any "real fan" who has known him for a while or who likes his last album a lot to go to a Starboy tour date. I promise you, you won't regret it.

The concert was absolutely stunning. A starship was used and the lights were coordinated very well. Abel sang amazingly in person and I loved jumping up and down screaming with other members of the audience while he sang. The concert was truly magical and I enjoyed every second Abel stood on stage.

As for the other singers who appeared on stage, I was very satisfied with their singing as well. They did an amazing job and captured the entire audience. In between Abel's music, the other singers such as Lil Uzi and 6lack played their hits on stage and the whole crowd became even more alive. If I the concert played out any other way, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as this concert.

The Weeknd’s Postponed Stadium Tour of Australia Canceled

Fans Down Under will have to wait a little longer to see The Weeknd on tour this year.

The “Blinding Lights” star’s postponed “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” throughout Australia and New Zealand has officially been called-off. Originally, the trek was slated to take place for 11 shows from November and December 2023, stopping in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Auckland. However, two weeks before the tour began, it was postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances.” At the time, organizers said the new dates would be announced for 2024, and new tickets would be valid for the new gigs.

However, a statement now confirms that although replacement dates were never announced, the 2023 tour will be cancelled while Live Nation works to reschedule the show. Ticketholders will receive an automatic refund.

The Weeknd last released Dawn FM in 2022, followed by the Original Motion Picture for “Avatar: The Way of Water,” as well as the deluxe edition of Starboy, in 2023.

The weeknd cancels australia and new zealand tour.

Pip Christmass

The Weeknd has cancelled the Australia and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour.

Ticketek emailed concert ticket holders on Tuesday stating that full refunds would be made while the company tries to “work through the rescheduling process with the artist.”

The tour was first postponed in November last year due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The Australian leg of the star’s tour was set to include a concert at Sydney’s Accor Stadium and Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, with other dates to follow.

But now all dates have been cancelled, with Ticketek recommending fans to sign up to a waitlist in case the dates do get rescheduled down the track.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in the process of being rescheduled. While we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled,” Ticketek stated on its website.

“All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.

“Ticket holders of the shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced.

“In order to gain access to the priority pre-sale, please make sure you opt in and join the waitlist here.

“Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action.

“Patrons should allow approximately 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”

The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has yet to post about the Australia and New Zealand cancellation on social media.

His most recent Instagram post was made on April 13, hinting that a new album was dropping soon.

But plenty of Australian fans were also dropping into the comments, hoping for some more information about when he would appear Down Under.

“Bro completely forgot about his Australia tour,” one fan wrote.

“Did you forget Australia?” wondered another.

“Ok cool, release Australia dates?” begged another.

On Tuesday, some fans headed back to that April 13 post to express their frustration at the tour being cancelled.

“So f***ing mad ... just got the email,” one wrote.

“WHAT NO PLEASE NO,” wrote another.

“RIP the aus/nz tour got cancelled 💀💀,” added a third.

The Weeknd Cancels Highly Anticipated Australian and New Zealand Tour

F ans of The Weeknd received disappointing news as the highly anticipated Australian and New Zealand tour has been officially canceled. The decision comes after the tour was initially postponed indefinitely in 2023, leaving many wondering about the fate of the concerts.

Scheduled to begin in Brisbane, the tour’s abrupt halt disappointed fans who were eagerly awaiting the chance to see the multi-Grammy award winner and Super Bowl halftime legend perform live.

With shows planned in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland, the ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ stadium tour promised an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts across the region.

Despite the setback, fans remain hopeful for future opportunities to catch The Weeknd in action.

While no reason for the postponement and now cancellation has been given, logistical challenges and ongoing uncertainties stemming from the global pandemic are likely factors.

Ticketek said in a statement that ticket holders will be receiving full refunds. They also expressed their desire to “work through the rescheduling process with the artist.”

For fans who had eagerly awaited the chance to see The Weeknd live in concert, the disappointment is palpable.

The Australian and New Zealand leg of the tour promised unforgettable performances, amplifying the impact of the cancellation.

The only silver lining for those who retained their tickets since the 2023 postponement is the promise of special priority purchase eligibility for any future tour dates announced by The Weeknd.

Amid the music industry’s ongoing struggle with the global pandemic, cancellations and postponements have unfortunately become commonplace.

The Weeknd’s cancellation serves as a poignant reminder of the persistent uncertainty confronting artists and fans alike in these unprecedented times.

For now, fans are left to cherish memories of past performances and eagerly await the day when The Weeknd will once again light up stages across Australia and New Zealand. Until then, the anticipation and excitement for his eventual return remain unwavering.

The Weeknd Cancels Australian Leg of ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Stadium Tour

The Weeknd has canceled the Australia & New Zealand leg of his tour

Last year in November, The Weeknd announced he was postponing the Australia & New Zealand leg of his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour. Now that leg has been cancelled entirely with full refunds offered.

The original postponement was describes as ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and the cancellation email received by ticket holders does not give an official reason for cancellation. Instead, it offers to make all ticket holders whole and to continue working “through the rescheduling process with the artist.”

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in the process of being rescheduled,” the email to ticket holders begins. “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.”

“Ticket holders of the [cancelled tour] shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced. In order to gain access to the priority pre-sale, please make sure you opt-in and join the waitlist.”

“Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action. Patrons should allow 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”

Prior to this cancellation, The Weeknd has not visited Australia in six years while touring. A peek at the official site for The Weeknd’s tour reveals there are no upcoming events—so Australian fans are out in the cold on this one yet again. Despite the cancellation, Abel Tesfaye has yet to post about the cancelled dates on social media. His most recent post is an Instagram post from April 13, insinuating that a new album will be dropping soon.

Fans stopped by social media to take their pot shots. “Bro completely forgot about his Australia tour,” one fan writes under the album announcement post.
