Biografie - Pawel Popolski
Neues aus dem Popolski-Kosmos: The Pawel Popolski Show must go on!

Termine u.a. in oldenburg (oldenburg), arnsberg, schwäbisch hall, rees..

New Edition of JAZZ PO POLSKU „Warsaw Live Sessions” begins now!
jpp 26.01.2023 FESTIVAL jassmine , jazz , Jazz po polsku , Poland , warsaw
50 original performances by the top Polish jazz musicians will be held as part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU „Warsaw Live Sessions.” The project will include, among others, Dominik Wania Quartet, Paweł Kaczmarzyk Trio, Piotr Damasiewicz Into The Roots, Stryjo. Mike Stern, the legendary American guitarist, will be our special guest. The venue is JASSMINE club in Warsaw. The Sessions begin on 29th of January with Mateusz Gawęda Trio.
JAZZ PO POLSKU returns to JASSMINE club after the well-received series “Live Sessions For China & Korea 2022”. From September to December last year, the musicians recorded live shows presented in front of the Warsaw audience and then released in Asia. In the coming months, on Sunday evenings at JASSMINE, we will be able to see the Polish artists again, as well as some foreign guests, who will present their music as part of the “Warsaw Live Sessions” project. The cycle will feature as many as 50 concerts over three years.
In the coming year 2023, the “Warsaw Live Sessions” will feature the leading artists of the Polish jazz scene, including the winners of the Fryderyk Award – Piotr Damasiewicz, Nikola Kołodziejczyk, Mateusz Smoczyński, and Dominik Wania. There will also be performances by some members of the young scene, like Follow Dices, Klawo, Piotr Matusik Trio, Siema Ziemia, Sebastian Zawadzki Trio, as well as winners of one of the oldest jazz festivals in Poland – Jazz Juniors Festival: Ziemia and Kuba Banaszek Quartet. The special guests of the Warsaw edition of JAZZ PO POLSKU will be American musicians—the legendary guitarist Mike Stern and trumpeter Freddie Hendrix, and the Ukrainian duo Misha Kalinin and Roksana Smirnova. The program also includes concerts by Ilona Damięcka Trio, Adam Golicki Project, Wojciech Jachna Squad, Rafał Jackiewicz Quartet, Michał Martyniuk Quintet and Sylwester Ostrowski & Jazz Brigade.
“One of the most important elements of the Warsaw edition is supporting the local scene, as well as developing international collaboration and integrating creative circles from other countries”, says Jakub Krzeszowski, creator of the JAZZ PO POLSKU project. “The proposed program is universal and addressed to a wide range of audiences. Within three years, as many as 50 bands will perform within this project, performing various types of jazz, contemporary and improvised music. For the needs of the project, the artists will also create works inspired by Warsaw”, adds Krzeszowski. The project will last three years and will take place on Sunday evenings at the JASSMINE club in Warsaw.
As part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU „Warsaw Live Sessions”, the audience will have the opportunity not only to listen to the original music of leading Polish jazzmen, but also to take part in “live” broadcasts of concerts. Performances recorded on video will be available on social media, and selected audio tracks on streaming platforms. All concerts will be rebroadcast on the air of the radio media patron.
As part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU project, several hundred events by Polish artists have been held abroad so far, including regular concert tours in Asia. The project debut in 2012 at one of the largest jazz festivals in the world (Copenhagen Jazz Festival) was due to musicians visiting China and the far corners of Central and Central and Eastern Asia, but also giving concerts in Europe.
The organizer of the JAZZ PO POLSKU “Warsaw Live Sessions” project is the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation, and it is co-financed by the City of Warsaw. The partners of the project are: Jassmine, Jazz Juniors, Foundation Institute of Economic Diplomacy. Media patrons: Warsaw Insider.

Pawel Popolski: PolkaMania!
Kategorie: Kunst & Kultur

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.
Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other
Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.
Moscow Tours centering on Russian History
Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.
Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers
What is the best time to visit moscow.
Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide
How many days are enough in Moscow?
If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.
Do they speak English in Moscow?
As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.
Is it safe to travel to Moscow?
It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Review: Bad Bunny the bandido lights up the Wells Fargo Center on his ‘Most Wanted Tour’
The Puerto Rican superstar's first Philadelphia show since he headlined Made in America in 2022 was a celebration of Latino pride.
Bad Bunny came to South Philly on Friday night for a sold-out show at the Wells Fargo Center.
It was the first time in Philadelphia for the Puerto Rican rapper, singer and influential cultural force — who was born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio — since he headlined the Made in America festival in 2022.
The stop on his Most Wanted Tour was in support of his 2023 album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana — which translates from Spanish to English as Nobody Knows What Is Going to Happen Tomorrow — and a thumping, infectious celebration of Latino pride.
The Inquirer’s Rosa Cartagena and Dan DeLuca went to the show. Here’s their review.
Dan DeLuca: Good morning after Bad Bunny, Rosa. We saw Bad Bunny take the stage following an overture by the Philharmonic Orchestra Project (led by Grammy-winning conductor Carlitos Lopez), ride a horse, and entertain fans while looking down on them from a floating skybridge. How’d you like it? What were the highlights for you?
Rosa Cartagena: I am still so pumped. Sore, but energized. Bad Bunny is one of the artists who has defined my 20s. He’s delivered so much incredible music that has catapulted reggaeton, Latin trap, and Spanish-language music overall to a completely new level — all while simultaneously shining a spotlight on Puerto Rico’s political problems and resilience. My family and I love Bad Bunny and we have so much fun listening to him together, so what I was really excited to see was how the crowd reflected that, too: There were so many intergenerational families (including at least one abuela!) and it warmed my heart.
Inside the arena, the biggest highlight for me was his Latin trap section. Nadie Sabe was a great album, but I desperately wanted to hear such tracks as “Tú No Metes Cabra,” “Chambea,” and “Soy Peor.” I wish he performed more than snippets but I’ll take what I can get. He was his flirty, funny self — blowing kisses, waving, and winking at the crowd. The floating stage brought him closer to the fans at all seating levels and he had me tearing up at one moment when the lights went on and showed so many Puerto Rican flags, and he simply, quietly, soaked it all in from his perch.
Despite being a fan since the mix-tape days, I hadn’t seen him live before, but you’ve seen him a few times in Philly, right? How did this show compare?
D.D.: I’ve only seen him once before, actually. When he headlined Made in America in 2022, in the closing night show that, if the festival, which is canceled again this year, never comes back will go down as the last-ever MIA performance.
I enjoyed this more. What was cool about that MIA show was how he transformed the grounds into a Latinx dance party, making Jay-Z’s festival over in his own image and language. This was a really smartly staged arena show with top-shelf production — though the relationship between Bad Bunny and the audience is still what makes it special.
He did a lot of standing there and soaking in the adulation — it was a bit Evita -ish when he was on the floating stage, looking down on his people from the balcony. But who can blame him? The passion and appreciation for the ways he’s represented Latino culture and refused to compromise or cross over by rapping or singing in English is real. His audience loves him for it, as well they should.
Yeah, the Latin trap section was impressive. I could feel the bass coming up through the soles of my shoes.
Let’s talk about the staging. The orchestral introduction was classy, and created an Ennio Morricone Spaghetti Western vibe, fitting with the outlaw imagery of Nadie Sabe . A friend of mine on Facebook who’s also a non-Spanish speaker compared it to watching an Italian opera. You can be swept up by the emotion of the music, and the contours of the story reveal themselves.
R.C.: The orchestra definitely brought a level of class to the crowd ready for perreo — and that kind of genre-mashing surprise is part of why people love his sound. I see the bandido theme here almost in between Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter (which came out five months after Nadie Sabe ) and Taylor Swift’s brand-new The Tortured Poets Department , because it’s both bad boy and sad boy. (And unlike Beyoncé's country, he leans hard into Tex-Mex vaquero culture with a bolo tie and his mariachi-inspired outfit.)
But the resonance isn’t just contemporary. He also spotlights Puerto Rican folkloric music, like bringing plena performers to last year’s Grammys. Before he arrived onstage, the orchestra played an instrumental rendition of the iconic bolero by La Lupe, “Qué Te Pedi,” a beloved song that cuts across generations, proving what I heard from so many fans last night: He hasn’t forgotten his roots. It was also refreshing to hear his intimate, pared-down acoustic section, when he sat on the piano and crooned while holding a horse plushie.
D.D.: The piano section was sweet. Sitting on it, sort of like Michelle Pfeiffer in The Fabulous Baker Boys . It was impressive that he could pull off a cocktail lounge vibe in a massive arena. And before “Qué Te Pedi,” the intro music was Billie Holiday’s “I’ll Look Around.” Mood music of the highest order.
The filmed interlude of a masked man riding across the desert was like Clint Eastwood in a Sergeo Leone movie crossed with Max von Sydow in The Seventh Seal . But when Bad Bunny actually rode in on a horse it was anticlimactic, a brief video screen talking point. And I was glad it was short, though: I was worried the poor horse was going to freak out in a room with 20,000 people!
The setup with two stages, plus the floating sky bridge — that worked really well. And the lights were spectacular. It seemed almost everybody was wearing the light-up Bad Bunny boot necklaces synced to turn the room green or red, in rhythm with the music. The only show I’ve seen that used that trick so well was the Weeknd at the Linc a couple of summers ago.
R.C.: Breathtaking, for sure. The orb lights were versatile and dynamic, at one point making a bridge (like our own Benjamin Franklin). He threw down. The only thing Philly fans might have missed was “Acho PR,” the track where he shouts out Bryce Harper and the Phillies .
Gordon Sargent, former national champion golfer, returning to Vanderbilt for senior season
Gordon Sargent , the 2022 NCAA national champion and 2023 SEC Golfer of the Year, is returning to Vanderbilt for his senior season instead of turning professional, he announced Thursday .
"It's been an honor to represent this university alongside my teammates and coaches, and I look forward to continuing to compete − and further my education − at this amazing place that has given so much to me," Sargent said in a statement posted to his social media accounts. "I would like to thank everyone who supported me on this journey and I'm excited for my senior year at Vanderbilt."
Sargent won the individual national championship as a freshman in 2022, which allowed him to compete in The Masters during his sophomore year in 2023. Sargent's participation in the PGA Tour U Accelerated program would have allowed him to earn a PGA Tour card and turn professional after the conclusion of the 2024 season. Instead, however, he will return in 2025.
Nick Dunlap, a sophomore golfer at Alabama, turned professional in January after becoming the first amateur in over three decades to win a PGA Tour event. Caleb Surratt, a sophomore at Tennessee who won the SEC individual championship in 2023, also turned professional in January with LIV Golf.
Sargent is the No. 1-ranked amateur in the World Amateur Golf Rankings . Four of his teammates − Jackson Van Paris, William Moll, Cole Sherwood and Matthew Riedel − are also in the top 20. The Commodores' team is currently ranked No. 3 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll.
