When can you take an Uluru camel tour?

Uluru camel tours operate four times a day; you can choose to see Uluru by camel at sunrise, sunset, during the morning, or in the afternoon.

How long are the camel tours?

Sunset and sunrise tours will see you aboard your camel for one hour and include either a light bush breakfast or evening drinks (with some hearty damper of course). Whereas the daytime express tours run for 45 minutes.

A tour of the Outback from atop a wild camel seems like something you’d find in a Terry Gilliam film, but once you’ve saddled up and climbed about one of Uluru Camel Tours’ “ships of the desert,” you’ll wonder why this activity was never higher on your bucket list. The camels clomp along at a leisurely pace, which should offer you plenty of time to capture a picture-perfect selfie with your GoPro, or an opportunity to soak up sweeping panoramic views of Uluru (Ayers Rock) – most beautiful under the soft light of a setting sun. Tours are championed by knowledgeable, friendly guides who take the safety of their guests seriously (camel surfing is highly discouraged). We booked this tour on the same day we landed at Ayers Rock Resort. The pick-up places was very easy to find and they were on time. So didn’t have to to wait in the heat for too long, after we arrived at the camel farm they brief us on the camel and safety rules before getting on the camels. Each camel has a name which I think it was really cute. Half way through the ride, your legs do get tired and sore, however it’s totally worth the ride. The camels were really friendly and calm.

One of the most amazing experiences we’ve had. Thank you so much to the team for organising such a wonderful ride into the sunset with the beautiful camels and their wonderful personalities. This ride had it all, unparalleled stunning views, relaxing atmosphere, education about camels (a guide walks along!) with a bit of humour, photos taken for you with your own phone and finally wine and local produce at the end with fresh baked bread! Fantastic experience, highly recommended for all. Thank you!
