Top 5 airlines serving from Dubai to Bali

Good flight. The food was served a bit late, hence a hurry to finish before landing. Excellent crew and service

They made me check my carry on even though there was room We un boarded in a strange way but overall it was good

In general good, but the machine seems to be long in operation and some functions were restricted as e. g. Adjusting of seats.

People were so nice! Economy seats were small and cramped feeling for me. I’m slender and 6 feet tall

Perfect experience from boarding through to leaving the flight, comfortable and personalised service from all staff, highly recommended

They close their counter so early. I had internet issues so I couldn’t check In online . I would have made the flight but their counter was closed 5 minutes before we arrived. No way of contacting them even though I had the confirmation number and tried to check in the night before on someone else’s phone. I tried calling their customer service with no pick up. Horrible experience, I’m very unhappy with them. I hope to never fly with them ever again. It costed me almost $900.

They are great with every aspect of customer service. Helped my elderly father and aided him with using the restroom.

The overall operation needs to be improved. The in-flight services took forever and sometimes ran out of options.

We started with a 2 hour delay due to some airplane technical issues, and while we got a little snack pack, it was a pretty long delay for SQ. The flight itself was short, there's no entertainment on the B737-800 and there's a small snack. Functional.

Flight attendants seemed a little more stressed out than in past Singapore flights. Not sure if that was because we had a completely full flight or if it was because it was just before Christmas. Food was decent but someone needs to update their Indian Vegetarian menus to ensure more variety, less duplication of items (Parathas included in2 different formats) and less dairy.

I am going to be just factual, not bad mouthing nor complaining, but this was my experience. With 3 pieces of luggage, I was told the flight from Mumbai to Dubai was cancelled due to flood. This was told not by the airport board which still showed the regular time of departure, but general stuff at the airport. No Emirates stuff around to direct the transfer passengers of the cancelled flights. By the departure counters with crowds of people, one by one, angry, frustrated, urgent conversations were going on. No announcement were made, no postings being seen, just private conversations. I still have 5+ hours of layover, so I let more urgent people settled first. However, the fact that no communication of when, what and where I should go was very unsettling. Basically no time limit waiting means, no meal, no sleep, no step away, no planning, no change plan, no telling of the family what to do. Nobody was able to tell you anything but asked you to wait, no chair, no space, no facility to freshen up. That went on for 10+ (from 5) hour without warnings and accurate communications. Email received from Emirates asked me not to go to Dubai at all, or boarding at the time that was passed. In other words, communication were very untimely, after the fact. That created more confusion instead. After changing several of boarding time, we were given the gate # and a boarding pass. However, the boarding pass still have the original time of boarding, so again, not knowing walking 30 min in the airport to the gate would make you late or not, therefore, still dare not to eat a meal. The flight arriving to Dubai was uneventful and I gave a 4/5 rating. I just thought the layover at Dubai would just cut short from 8+ hours to 2+ hours. At Dubai airport, I saw people sleeping on cardboard, knowing, these people got stranded but they dared to sleep because they know when to board and I didn't. Or these kind of delay are just so normal that people know what to do to pass time. Then the worst service and crazy thing happened. The boarding time on board for LA and at gate A9 was clearly 8:50AM. At 8:40, surprised by not having any boarding activities, then one single staff showed up and said to a few passengers that the boarding would be delayed without a time frame. Since only a few people know, I asked another Emirates staff at another counter, who simply said basically non of his business. I was shocked with that indifferent attitude. Yet every boards I saw show the same boarding time. What kind of system failure was that to prepare delay situation! How confusing and unnecessary chaos and anger that provoke. That poor staff had to repeat himself so many times, answered questions that he had no power nor information to provide nor solved. One an only one stuff to show up for 10 min, leaving the counter non-staff with board showing 8:50AM boarding. This was purely irresponsible from top to bottom of the entire airline operation staff. What kind of leader in a service industry would allow this to happen to their customers. Without explanation, after changing 3 times the boarding times, again, means you should not go to eat a full meal, because, when you found a mob at the gate. People who were stranded for 2 days were afraid of not getting a seat with a full plane. That would not be happening if the airline provide adequate guidance to each person, instead of just having 4 staff yelling at the gate at the same time to "control" the crowd, threatening no boarding and delay boarding. Finally, I was on board, hungry and tired, not sleep for 36 hours. I was denied with a snack of fruit. By the time meal was served, it was an hour later. Half way of the trip, I felt sleep in fetus position and did not want to move, happy I finally could have some shut eyes time. However, when I got up to the bathroom, I felt very light headed. Having sleep deprived, constipated for 3 days, dehydrated, I knew it could happen since my blood pressure usually was low closed to 90/60. Any lower then that, I could have syncope. Sure enough, I was on the floor just 10 feet from my seat and 5 feet to the bathroom. However, nobody called for help. I asked for warm water and juice to hydrate, came only with cold and icy drinks which I wouldn't take. I asked for blankets, one was given. Yet my shivering, needs to cover my head and multiple requests did not hasten to take the two blankets that are at my seat 10 feet away. I waited 10 min for that. While 2-3 staff surrounded me, nobody did the vitals until after 15 min, just the spirometer only of which did not work due to my cold fingers. The first reading was 86 and oxygen was suggested. But another supervising personnel came, fussed over another reading, ignoring my comfort and needs. Seemingly the reading of spirometer was the priority. By then, no oxygen needed. I had this fainting experience before, and I knew how to help myself. However, I was not being listened to but to be told this and that. Finally, I got better and returned to seat. One kind flight attendant said she would check back with me in 15 min. She did not come back. I felt asleep in that fetus position again and this time I woke up with a bad cramp at my left leg. Yet I needed to go to bathroom, the cramp was too bad to walk. So I stepped back to seat. When I tried again the second time, the other front leg got cramp. This time I dare not move but massaged myself. For all these 5-10 min, I called for attention. Attendants passed me by because they were carried with heavy load of blankets and stuff. Nobody answered the light. Then came landing and off board. I was asked by two attendants how I felt. I smiled and said "fine".

The customer service was very poor. I didn’t get any accommodations for my cancelled flight. I was without any sleep for 36 hours.

Flight never took off. Boarded after multiple 30 minutes interval delays for hours.. then after an hour onboard, captain announce cancellation and back on the bus to the terminal with no information and everyone to fend for self.. Emirates did absolutely nothing to communicate either electronically or announcement. It’s unprecedented I know with the flood but lack of communication creates anxiety and extra pain for staff. Emirates should do better.. no supervisors monitoring floor and passengers abusing them which isn’t right but should Have had supervisors monitoring

Worst ever. No assistance and communication from Emirates crew. No visibility of when the flight is flying. Couldn’t understand if we can go to lounge to take rest. Emirates system at a certain point said flight is not operating and suggested to take the next flight and in few minutes it suddenly opened the gate for boarding. unsupportive and rude crew. Worst experience ever. Flight was delayed by 5 hours so need the compensation for that.

The customers before boarding the plane from Dubai was HORRENDOUS. The entire Emirates staff had a stick up their bum. The guy at the check in booth was rude. I don’t understand.

Not that good The crew in the plane were rim professional & almost lost in their work distribution

No entertainment u less you pay. Wish there were some free movies

Didn’t like it at all. Cabin crew unfriendly. Very bad experience.

Food is really bad, not to the Emirates standards. Coming out of Houston airport is very confusing,

Service needs to improve. Air hostess do not register flyers request and we need to keep on repeating our request to them on multiple occasions

My wife with 5 month son were traveling. No proper support was provided for luggage handling. Although it was requested in prior. My wife sole manage everything and was not as expected.

This was an old 320 without a screen or USB charging port even in the business class. The food could have been better.

a real good flying experince. Everything was excellent right from check-in to baggage collection at destination.

Food is tasting bad, and it is a fusion but not authentic.

Excellent experience and now my preferred airline. Even a fantastic meal with dessert in a 2 hour flight.

off late the crew and the air in the flight is becoming that of a budget airline not the earlier Vistara .

It wasn't clear from where to board flight international or domestic Airport

Information was not clear from where to check in international or domestic Airport at Ahmedabad.

The deplaning experience was bad, since they did not get the aerobridge at Madras on arrival and the bus felt like a local train during office hour rush

i bought a biz class fare but a few days before vistara always changes my biz class flight to economy .. happened to me 4 times .. seated could be wider .. boarding could be more organized .. crew did their best but not enough resources all in all very poor experience

I had first class service from them. A little late taking off, but no major problem

It was a really long flight from Doha to Philadelphia and it was overall a good one. The one area that I would comment on is that there is a lot of single-use plastic and disposables in the meal service for American Airlines. It would be great to see more circular options in the meal service to reduce the amount of waste.

Suddenly Flight has been change by Qatar and there’s no information is there of us from Bom to Doha and counter person is behaving like Qatar owner next I will not buy Qatar and I will not suggest anyone to fly in Qatar

They shld provide food. Between food they are giving 10 hours gap which is toooo much

They have misplaced my one checked bag which I have not received in Philadelphia and have lodged complaint with American Airlines, the staff of Indigo was rude with us, at the checking counter, I think she purposely withheld my one of the checked bag, because the American Airlines staff told me that bag was not received at Doha airport. Kindly help me with one of my checked bag to get it. My flight was from Mumbai to Doha and then Doha to Philadelphia.

I liked the overall service and comfort. The only annoying thing was paying for excess baggage at the airport. They have limited options and they don't take all cards.

From home to the airport, you must mention the terminal ready.

Okay not so good or great. The flight operated by Indigo is worst from boarding to luggage handling and food. Damaged one luggage and delayed another luggage. Still did not get it, since 2 days.

The seats are extremely small and very uncomfortable for a long trip , no space to even move the legs or keep the legs little bit folded, very uncomfortable

need to improve management and air hostess services. Rest of it’s OK.

Indigo attempts to make you pay for a seat during check in. I opted to not do this. The result - they allotted me and my minor son seats apart. In the interest of making maximum money, they seem to have lost common sense too. Similarly, even during the flight, the crew are busy trying to serve food to those who’ve already paid for it. By the time they’re done, it’s time to land and no one else is able to get anything. Sadly this seems to be what makes them profitable, customers just need to bear with it till a better airline comes along.

Staff needs to be trained in managing customers better. Indigo appears to be a low cost airlines in all aspects.

Flight was delayed and also lots of mosquitoes on the flight

Two times the gate was changed and flight got delayed

INDIGO Never On Time & Always Prefer to Shuttle Passengers Like shuttle Corks

I did not like the communication gap existing amongst the staff and the customer. My flight to Nagpur was delayed by two and half hours but it was informed to me on email ( not by W.A. or SMS) when I have already left my home in Baner area. I was painfully detained at airport with luggage when the gate no. 10 was changed to 5. I'll never recommend your flight to anybody.

Seats don't recline, no charging points. New aircraft and very clean. Crew should serve some water atleast.

Wife and I were seated in separate seats across the aisle

There was inordinate delay without any plausible reason. This has become a normal feature of Indigo now a days.

Flight was inordinately delayed, which has become normal with Indigo. Crews were inattentive. After landing there was a lot of time for arrival of chek in baggage

AREAS IN BALI

Bali's western coast.

Arguably the most famous region of the tiny Indonesian Island, Bali's Western Coast boasts some of the best hotels, beaches and night life that the island has to offer. From the parties in Kuta, to the sophistication of Seminyak or the scenic beauty of Tanah Lot, Bali's Western Coast is simply superb.

Nestled in Bali's mountain region, Ubud is home to some of the world's most luxurious retreats. The Ayung River is also easily accessible and perfect for the more adventurous nature lovers with some great white water rafting spots.

Uluwatu & Jimbaran Bay

The cliffs of Uluwatu are truly one of Bali's hidden gems. With hotels dotted around Bali's southern peninsula, Uluwatu & Jimbaran Bay are the perfect place for secluded luxury.

Bali's Eastern Coast

Less well known, but just as beautiful (and perfect for families) is Bali's Eastern Coast. Enjoy world class resorts in Nusa Dua and Sanur, or take an adventure to the untouched Gili Islands.

TOP THINGS TO SEE & DO

Waterbom waterpark.

With world class waterslides, nearly 4 hectares of space, Waterbom is fun for the whole family with rides for Thrill-Seekers and lazy river lovers alike

Mount Batur

One of Bali's active volcanoes, Mount Batur is definitely worth a visit. Offering incredible views and, if you have the will to get up early, one of the most magnificent sunrises you will see.

Uluwatu Temple

Located on the top of Uluwatu's incredible cliffs, this Hindu temple offers staggering views out over the ocean. The walk up to the temple also gives you an opportunity to mingle with the local monkey inhabitants!

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

For the active instagrammers!! These waterfalls are so picturesque and beautiful that you won't know whether to swim or keep taking photos

BE IN THE KNOW

Flight time & currency.

Time to Travel

Bali is great for any time of the year, due to the climate being mostly comfortable all year round.

The best time to go to Bali is from April to October, the driest time of the year.

Getting Around

Scooter taxis are the easiest and quickest way to get around the small island. Private taxi vans can also be hired from all the major hotels in the region for day trips. Just make sure you negotiate the rate before you set off!!

TOP TIP - The most expensive coffee in the world

Kopi Luwak has the distinction of being known as the most expensive coffee in the world and the reason might surprise you. The beans are collected from the excriment of the civet (a small nocturnal mammal). At USD50 a cup, would you be game to try it?

Areas of Bali

Southern Bali is the most popular area for tourists on their holidays in Bali, with many major airlines flying into Denpasar Airport. Nusa Dua , Sanur , Uluwatu , Kuta and Legian are very popular spots attracting very different crowds. Ubud nestles in the central highlands and is a mecca for travellers seeking a laid-back pace, fine food, arts and traditional Balinese culture. Many visitors to Bali also head onto the string of idyllic tropical islands known as the Gili Islands - Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. A number of fast boats operate out of Bali, transporting travellers to this desert island paradise.

bali trip from dubai

Kuta & Legian

Kuta and Legian are at the epicentre of mass tourism in Bali, partly because of the close proximity to the airport and capital Denpasar , and partly because of the alluring beach, cheap accommodation and raucous nightlife. Kuta is still very much considered the island’s party spot, popular with backpackers and budget travellers wanting to surf, eat fast food and drink ‘til dawn. It is still possible to find some genuine Balinese culture in the surrounding streets, but head to Legian if you still want the nightlife, but on a slightly calmer, more grown up scale.

Immediately north of Kuta, Seminyak couldn’t be more different, a place where high-class restaurants, good bars, beach clubs, boutiques and galleries lure well-heeled visitors through their doors. Numerous luxury spas and hotels line the wide, west-facing stretches of Indian Ocean shoreline with its turquoise waters and excellent surfing conditions, perfect for travellers more partial to riding waves than relaxing.

bali trip from dubai

Another popular spot on the southern Bukit Peninsula , it is home to Bali’s most sacred sea temple. Dramatically perched on a clifftop above the Indian Ocean, Uluwatu temple is a magical spot. It is also home to one of the best surfing beaches on the island; pro-surfers flock here to ride the fast, powerful waves.

Visitors have long been drawn to the charms of Ubud, with its lively arts and cultural scene, excellent food, out-of-this-world spa offerings and charismatic, laid-back atmosphere.

Whether you choose to watch traditional “legong” dances at the old palace, take a trip to the Monkey Forest Sanctuary or prefer to relax in one of the luxury hotels that have sprung up in recent years – Four Seasons , Ritz Carlton , Uma by COMO and Viceroy all have hotels here – Ubud never fails to disappoint. Just north of Ubud are the Jatiluwih Rice terraces , an incredible example of the complex traditional water management system known as subak, dating back over 2,000 years. The fields are an important part of the island’s history – they were carved by hand using rudimentary tools – and are now UNESCO-protected. If you want to get away from the crowds, head here and marvel at the feat of design and engineering.

bali trip from dubai

Some refer to this part of the island as the ‘Wild West’ due to the fact that it is the least visited part of the island and holds a mysterious allure, even for some of the locals. Here you’ll find stretches of deserted black volcanic beaches, created from the lava of Bali’s active Mount Batur and Mount Agung , vast swathes of jungle and rolling paddy fields. Pura Taman Ayun is a beautifully ornate royal water temple and was the main temple of the Mengwi kingdom, which survived until 1891. West Bali National Park covers most of the western end of the island and remains virtually unexplored. Many in-the-know surfers head here: Balian beach is a good spot, as is Medewi Beach , a popular destination where people come to surf and experience a relaxed way of life in the tiny Balinese fishing village. Uninhabited Menjangan Island is renowned for its diving, snorkeling and marine conservation, as is Pemuteran .

Fresh fish, coconut, aromatic spices, fresh vegetables, tropical fruit and rice are some of the main staples of Balinese cuisine. Taking influences from Chinese and Indian dishes, the island is famous for its Balinese Babi Guling (roasted suckling pig), Sate Babi (grilled satay pork) and Gado Gado, a well-known dish of boiled vegetables, hard boiled eggs, fried tofu and tempeh, rice and peanut sauce.

The Balinese cuisine offers an extensive range of interesting dishes, but why not check out our Singapore holidays with interesting tastes and flavours, and 29 Michelin starred restaurants in the country (which is also one of the smallest countries in the world).

Bali has a unique cultural identity with a deep spirituality running through the veins of this peaceful island. It is the most populous Hindu majority island in the world. Indonesian population is pushing up towards 250 million, of which Bali totals 4.2 million. Bali is a heady mix of classical Javanese culture combined with Indian, Chinese and unique Balinese elements. Best known for its dance, drama and ornate architecture, it is also famous for its Shadow Puppet Theatre.

Bali is part of the Coral Triangle, an area with the highest biodiversity of marine species in the world, covering 1.6% of the planet’s oceanic area and home to 76% of all known coral species in the world and more than 3,000 species of fish; double that of the Great Barrier Reef. More than 280 species of tropical birds call the island home and can be found in Bali’s vast jungles, including the endangered Bali Myna or Bali Starling. Wild boar, deer, Macaque monkeys, Javan Langur and squirrels are also very common.

The earliest written records of Bali are stone inscriptions dating back to the 9th century. The Majapahit Empire ruled from 1343 and was responsible for the influx of Javanese culture into Bali, particularly dance, theatre, literature and architecture. Europeans arrived in the 16th century, which saw a long, difficult colonial period under Dutch rule. Indonesian leader Soekarno proclaimed the nation’s independence in 1945, just after the end of WWII, but then the Indonesian War of Independence ensued, a conflict between Indonesia and the Dutch Empire that would last for four years before the nation was completely free from Dutch rule.

Our Hong Kong holidays can also be filled with historical discovery if it is something that interests you. Hong Kong has a vast history dating back to 221-206 BC and since then it has been ruled by various dynasties until finally in 1997, Hong Kong was handed back to Chinese authorities as a Special Administrative Region.

Attractions

bali trip from dubai

Monkey Forest

Located in Padangtegal , just outside Ubud, Monkey Forest is a series of sacred temples set in an ancient forest that acts as a sanctuary for around 600 macaque monkeys. In Bali, sanctuaries like this are an important part of Balinese heritage and everyday life, essential for renewing contact with the spiritual world and are a fine example of the importance Balinese people place on the harmonious existence of humans and nature. Officially called Mandala Wisata Wanara Wana , it’s a calm, quiet place where visitors can expect to see the monkey living in its natural habitat, among a huge variety of rare plants and trees. The temples were built in the 14th century when the Pejeng Dynasty ruled Bali and there are three main ones to explore. It is

Mount Batur

According to Hindu beliefs, Mount Batur is a sacred mountain, located on the north east of the island, close to Mount Agung . It is an active volcano that last erupted in 2000 and is also home to Lake Batur , the largest lake on Bali. Sitting 1,717m above sea level, the summit can be reached in around two hours. It is a popular attraction for walkers and hikers, who come to enjoy the spectacular scenery and may even experience their guide cooking eggs in the volcano’s hot crater. Many companies offer a sunrise tour, taking in the mountain, tropical plantations and a stop off at a traditional Balinese coffee processing plant. An experience not to be missed.

The Gili Isles

This string of three islands – Gili Air , Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno – is a tropical paradise that has long attracted travellers looking for an authentic island experience. Located off the northwest coast of Lombok , they can also be reached by fast boat from Bali. Tourism has grown here rapidly over the past 10 years but you can still enjoy an authentic escape where horse-drawn carriage is the main method of transport. On Gili Trawangan, dive schools jostle for space with trendy bars catering for the young party crowd who flock here to enjoy hip guesthouses, late night parties and sunsets on the west coast of the island. Gili Air has a much calmer vibe and is the perfect place for snorkeling, relaxing on the white sandy beaches and staying in rickety bamboo huts. Gili Meno is the smallest of the three islands and the least developed. Head here if you really want to escape from it all on a remote island paradise.

Tirta Empul Temple

This temple is considered to be one of the most holy in Bali, built around a sacred spring in the village of Manukaya . The spring feeds various purification baths, pools and fishponds, which all flow to the Tukad Pakerisan River . Balinese locals have been worshipping here for over 1,000 years, attracted by the healing, restorative qualities of the waters. There are three courtyards in the temple complex, but the main attraction is a long rectangular carved stone pool, filled with koi and fed by the sacred spring via 12 fountains. Balinese worshippers make their offerings at the temple, then climb into the main pool to pray.
