Luis Monell

Luis Monell is the Founder and Executive Director at 360 Academic Sports Academy. Luis is a Brooklyn native who played his college baseball at Division 1 St. John's University under legendary coaches Ed Blankmeyer (Brooklyn Cyclones) and Scott Brown (Vanderbilt University). Luis was part of a pitching staff that saw seven players drafted, including himself. After opting out of playing professionally, Luis began coaching in 2009 at Norman Thomas HS and helped lead the team to a perfect record and the PSAL Class "A" Championship. Luis was promoted to become the head coach in 2012 where he was voted by the NY Post as the Manhattan High School Coach of the Year.

From 2013-2018, Luis served as the Co-Director of the Brooklyn Bulldogs travel baseball program and has coached over ten college commits in the past three years, including nine Division 1 commits. In 2019, Luis was voted in as President of the Brooklyn Falcons, a nonprofit travel baseball organization that has quickly become one of the most successful programs in the northeast. He has since retired from his role as President to dedicate more time to the 360 mission. Luis is also the head varsity baseball coach and Associate Athletic Director at The Berkeley Carroll School.

SFX Youth Sports

Serving brooklyn youth for over 100 years, sfx huskies travel baseball.

The Program

All SFX Youth Sports programs are committed to the fundamental principles of teamwork, fair play and good sportsmanship. The Huskies Travel Baseball program’s mission is to uphold these principles while playing competitive baseball: the SFX Huskies mission is to win games through dedication, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

The SFX Huskies Travel Baseball program was started in 2003 to offer players a nurturing, competitive outlet for their baseball passion. The SFX Huskies play competitive baseball throughout Brooklyn, Long Island, New Jersey, and throughout the mid-Atlantic region or beyond, depending on the team.

The Commitment

Because of the competitive nature of the travel baseball program, not all players who try out for the team will be placed on the roster. Players who are accepted onto the team should recognize that a significant commitment is required by both players and parents. Teams may practice several times each week, with games on weeknights and weekends.

The success of the SFX Huskies Travel Baseball program relies heavily on the commitment from its coaches, who tend to remain with a team over multiple seasons to ensure continuity from one year to the next. The coaches are dedicated to the program, and expect equal dedication from SFX Huskies parents to fully participate in this highly demanding program. Parents will be asked to review and sign a Parent Contract to acknowledge the commitment required when joining the SFX Huskies family.

Tryouts and Registration

Before registering for an SFX Huskies team, each player is evaluated to determine the appropriate level of skills or potential. Each year new players are encouraged to try out for the team, and no preference is given to returning players over new players: the goal is to build a competitive team that will win games through dedication, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

There are SFX Huskies teams for players aged 8 through 18.

Registration begins in the winter for a season that begins in the spring and continues through the summer.
