The Hornblower cruise allowed me to stand at the heart of this natural wonder, surrounded by the thunderous roar and the shimmering mist that created enchanting rainbows. With each passing moment, I could sense the power of the falls, the roaring and force of the cascade that has shaped the landscape over countless years.

I secured a spot on the open deck, near the pole for an immersive experience. The boat navigated expertly through the elements. I had clear enough views to embrace the falls’ magnificence. It wasn’t just a boat ride; it was an immersion into the very soul of nature’s strength: mist, sprinkles and splashes! Short of being drenched! Reflecting on that experience, I felt as if I had been transported to a realm where the boundaries between the human-made and the natural were beautifully blurred. There’s nothing quite like experiencing the Horseshoe Falls from the Hornblower cruise firsthand. It certainly was an experience I’d never forget.

I resorted to various combination tickets for my experiences of Niagara Falls. One of the options included the Hornblower and the Journey Behind the Falls and you can find the option here .

I have done several wine tours and this was by FAR the greatest one. Tom, our driver, was very knowledgeable of the area, took us to see beautiful sites when we had extra time between wineries and took wonderful care of us! The novelty of touring around in the English can was totally worth it – so fun! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves NOTL or is looking to experience it for the first time! A+ -Kathleen ( see more reviews )

A tour you cannot miss

This is a must do and top of your bucket list if you are a tourist to the United states. You can also see the same if you visit Canada, but since you are here then do it. Maid of the mist tour take you below the falls and right next to the action. You will be amazed by the might of mother nature and wonder. The cave of the winds tour (only on american side) is also good as it will give you an experience of the falls that is 100 percent on the american side. Learn a little about also the history of the area, the falls, the erosion that happened centuries ago and most importantly, this place revolutionized the world and changed the course.

Thank you for the review, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your Over the Falls Tour. We are glad you chose to tour with us at Over the Falls! 😎

The tour was memorable, and we got to see many beautiful views from the Skylon observatory and Cave of the Winds. The Maid of the Mists ride was the most thrilling portion, going right by the chaotic and beautiful American and Horseshoe falls. Our tour guide, Nick was phenomenal and humorous, and brings up the history and trivia of Niagara Falls. Worth it for a once in a lifetime experience.

Eduardo was a fantastic tour guide. We would do this tour with him every day if we could, but we can't. Lol. Thank you for a great day!

What an awesome tour! Jessica is an exceptional tour guide who offered plenty of extra information as we did each of our stops on the tour. Maid of the mist and cave of the winds were our favorite, but the entire day was excellent.

Jessica appreciates all the kind comments and was very happy to hear that you had an incredible experience touring Niagara Falls on your Over the Falls Tour. We hope you made some wonderful memories and will visit with us again sometime. 😎

It’s was an awesome experience. Delicious worth the money. Will definitely book again the next time I visit. Lenny really is legendary

Cool Cruiser

We have just booked a cruise to the Baltics for next year. I am trying to find out the average cost for a day trip to Moscow from STP. I have searched several times, and whilst I have read reviews and reports about the trips etc - I cannot actually see any examples of the costs. I imagine its quite expensive - but we want to do it so I need to budget LOL !!

Any ballpark figures ? :D

We did the Moscow trip through our cruise ship in late July 2008. Its cost was a little under $1000 pp. Now, that cost through this cruise line is a little over that $1000 pp cost. Now, most are using the high-speed rail connection versus the air flights as we did. I have seen some other numbers from other cruise lines and/or private firms that run $700-850.

Why cheaper or the differences? As cruise lines are pressured to keep their "sticker price" low, they need to make up some "margin" with ship tours, beverages, spa stuff, etc., to help cover their costs and gain some profit. Second, different tours provide various features. Our tour included going inside the famed and spectacular Kremlin Palace. Most Moscow tours don't feature that option and you cannot just walk up there and get in on your own. That Palace is where the Czars were crowned and all of the current/recent Russian leaders assumed their powers.

We could have saved a little if we had used a private tour to go to and visit Moscow, but, with my wife's pushing, we felt it was worth it to pay a little more, do it through the cruise line. If there had been any problems or mix-ups, it was the ship's duty to "make it right" and we would not have to worry.

If you have three days in St. Petersburg and/or have been there before, then the Moscow tour can work out very well. It's not cheap, but in my view, worth it!! Both are a few of my visuals from this super great city with such interesting history and dramatic architecture.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

One of the Kremlin Wall Towers in Moscow:

Walking on the famed Red Square of Moscow:

St. Basil's sits on Red Square and dates back to its 1555-61 construction on the orders of Ivan the Terrible (Ivan IV). It commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan and marks the geometric center of the city. This location has been the hub of its growth for Moscow since the 14th century. It was the tallest building in Moscow until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600. This church was near destroyed in the 1930’s when Stalin was in control.:

Here is a small sampling of the Kremlin Royal Treasures of the Czars: Eggs & Jewels insicde the famed Armory.:

Moscow’s subways are called the “People’s Palaces” with their marble coverings and unique designs for each of the different and many stations.:

This is the interior for Moscow's most historic church, Assumption Cathedral or the Cathedral of the Dormition, inside the Kremlin walls. It is the mother church of Muscovite Russia. The church stands on Cathedral Square and was built in 1475–1479 by the Italian architect Aristotele Fioravanti. It was erected on the spot of an older 14th century cathedral of the same name:

We did the day trip to Moscow with Alla-tour and were very pleased with our tour. Our guide whose English was great was a wealth of information and the day went very smoothly. I checked the web site and Alla's prices for 2012 range from $884 a person for two down to $542 a person for 6 with the 5% cruisecritic discount. So if you can get a group together the per person price goes down considerably. You can try to do this on the roll call section of cruisecritic.

We did not go to the Palace and as Terry says this is not included generally in tours. However, we did go to the Diamond Fund, an amazing display of crown jewels and jewelry in the Armoury building but not really part of the Armoury. I would think you could include this if you had a small group and really wanted to see it. It is quite small and does not accommodate a large group. You can google "diamond fund kremlin" to learn more.

Below are a few more visuals on Moscow that are more "interesting". Fascinating to having seen both cities, back-to-back. It really puts all of this unique Russian history and architecture in better perspective.

7 Best Hotels In Niagara Falls With A View Of The Falls

N iagara Falls is one of the natural wonders of the world. One of the best ways to experience the sheer magnitude and beauty, and even feel the thunder, of the falls is to stay at a hotel with a view of them. Such hotels can be found in the area of Niagara Falls aptly named “Fallsview.”

Accommodations with the best view of Niagara Falls can be much more expensive than a basic room and you can encounter rainy and foggy weather which will limit your view. Nonetheless, having a room with a view remains a very special way to see the falls in an intimate setting away from the crowds.

These are the best hotels with a view in Niagara Falls , Canada.

Niagara Falls Tourism hosted my 2-day visit to Niagara Falls, however, all opinions are my own.

1. Embassy Suites Niagara Falls Hotel

I recently stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Fallsview , and the view from my suite was spectacular. I not only had a panoramic view of the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls, but I could also see most of the city of Niagara Falls as well. During the day, the mist rose from Horseshoe Falls and created multiple rainbows, while at night, both the American and Canadian Falls were illuminated with frequently changing colors.

Located just 100 yards from the edge of the water, Embassy Suites is the closest hotel to Niagara Falls, towering over the brink of the falls. It is conveniently connected directly to the incline railway that we used to make our way down to the Fallsview tourist area where many of the attractions and restaurants are located.

The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast and an evening reception with free drinks and snacks. The hotel also has an indoor pool, entertainment room, and fitness center.

I didn’t even have to leave the hotel for a great meal and a view of the falls since there is The Keg Restaurant on the ninth floor, which serves perfectly cooked steak and seafood. There is also a TGI Fridays Restaurant and sports bar in the hotel on the ground floor.

Pro Tips: Higher floors don’t necessarily offer a better view of the falls, however, they do provide a better view of the city of Niagara Falls. Be certain to make a reservation for a window table in The Keg restaurant to enjoy the illuminated falls with constantly changing colors and themes.

2. Sheraton Fallsview Hotel

Sheraton Fallsview Hotel is conveniently located across from the falls and is directly connected to Casino Niagara and the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark.

The hotel features large windows in every room and at night you can see the falls’ illumination. The main Horseshoe Falls are obscured by trees. They have an onsite spa and fitness center to use when you are done with all of the nearby attractions, including the Hornblower cruise, Journey Behind the Falls, and maybe even the zipline.

Fallsview Restaurant, located on the rooftop, offers panoramic views of the falls and prepares meals with fresh local produce including fish, vegetables, and Niagara wines.

Pro Tip: There are other hotels with a better view of the American and Canadian falls from your room, however, this is your best bet for convenience.

3. Niagara Falls Marriott On The Falls

The Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls was recently renovated. The guestrooms and suites are modern and many Fallsview rooms and suites have oversized picture windows affording panoramic views of Niagara Falls.

Milestones on the Falls Restaurant is located on the mezzanine level of the hotel and is open for lunch or dinner with an international menu. With a direct view of Niagara Falls, your meal will be that much more enjoyable.

Pro Tip: There are two Marriotts in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Book Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls to be closest to the falls. Although the Burning Springs Spa and Thermal Pools are located in the sister Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa close by, you can only use the spa and thermal pools at a cost.

4. Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa

Not be confused with the Marriott on the Falls above, this one is a 10-minute walk to the Fallsview Casino. All of the rooms overlook Niagara Falls or the river. Choose carefully if you want a full view of Niagara Falls.

The hotel includes an indoor pool, spa tub, and a steam room as well as the Burning Springs Spa and Thermal Pools — a full-service spa for massages, body treatments, and facials. You can reserve a Hotel Spa Package, book an appointment, or purchase a Day Pass.

While there is a range of restaurants in the hotel to choose from, if you are hankering for steak, seafood, or burgers, Morton’s Grille offers them all. Enjoy a delicious meal while taking in a spectacular view of the Canadian falls.

5. Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites

The Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites comprises of three towers and 1,000 rooms and suites. With several suite and room categories, if a view of the falls is a dealbreaker, select accommodations with the view of your choice. Choose from a U.S. Fallsview, Canadian/U.S. Fallsview, or Premium Canadian/U.S. Fallsview.

The hotel is directly connected to the Fallsview Casino Resort via a glass-enclosed walkway. On the 17th floor, you will find an infinity pool with amazing views of Niagara Falls, a family pool, a splash pad, and a fitness center.

The hotel features dining options for all tastes at the Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse, Corso, Family Style Italian, and the rooftop Watermark Fallsview Restaurant located on the 33rd floor with floor-to-ceiling views of Horseshoe Falls.

Pro Tip: Select your room or suite type carefully so you have the best view of the falls from your bedroom. Order room service and watch the falls’ illumination from your bed.

6. DoubleTree Fallsview Resort & Spa By Hilton

If you are traveling with kids or just want to be away from the crowds, you might want to consider the DoubleTree Fallsview Resort & Spa by Hilton .

The Fallsview area, the casino, and the Clifton Hill amusement area are just a 10-minute walk away.

Although the word “Fallsview” is in the name, be aware that only the top floors have partial views of the falls. Connecting rooms are available.

I have stayed at this hotel and found it welcoming and warm. Buchanans Steak and Seafood serves hand-cut steaks, seafood, and pasta along with local Niagara VQA wines and beers. When you’re not out touring, take a break in the indoor pool, fitness center, and spa.

Pro Tip: Check to confirm that the room you booked does indeed have a view of the falls.

7. Tower Hotel

The Tower Hotel is a quirky hotel in Niagara Falls with an interesting history. Originally built as a restaurant and tourist attraction, it was converted into a 42-room boutique hotel in 2005. It is located just 500 yards from the falls and one block from the Niagara Fallsview Casino.

The rooms are understated and have floor-to-ceiling windows with great views of the falls. For dining, an IHOP is on the property as well as the Sky Fallsview Steakhouse.

Staying at a hotel with a panoramic view of Niagara Falls from the comfort of your room or suite is an unforgettable experience both during the day and at night when the falls are illuminated.

In Niagara Falls, you will find hotels to suit most preferences and budgets. Remember to book early for the best choice of rooms with the best views of the falls.
