Glass Animals announce 2022 Australian tour dates

Get ready for some late nights in the middle of July!

You’ve seen the mysterious posters popping up around the city and now we know why – UK electro pop quartet  Glass Animals have announced they’ll be touring Australia in 2022 .

The tour will finally see the Oxford four-piece bring their huge third album Dreamland to our shores.

Spearheaded by the success of the album’s single ‘Heat Waves’, Glass Animals have continued to amass a legion of dedicated fans Down Under, so these upcoming shows are sure to be huge.

Taking out the #1 spot on this year’s triple j Hottest 100 – the first time a UK band has scored the accolade since 2009 –  ‘Heat Waves’ also held the No.1 spot on the ARIA Official Singles Chart in Australia for six consecutive weeks. The single has spent 41 weeks in the top 10 of ARIA chart, making it on par with ‘Dance Monkey’s’ record for the most weeks in the top 10 in ARIA history.

Now Glass Animals are set to play their biggest shows on Australian soil ever, bringing their mind-bending Dreamland live experience our way.

Glass Animals - Heat Waves (Official Video)

They’ve been described as the pandemic’s pop success story, and it’s safe to say that is a fair description of the last couple of years for Glass Animals – although it didn’t start out that way.

First, the release of  Dreamland was postponed. Then, according to an interview with frontman Dave Bayley in the Financial Times , the band were told the record would flop and they should put it out and immediately start writing its follow up.

The album finally released in August 2020 to a somewhat modest reception, but it was the slow build behind ‘Heat Waves’ – across gaming culture, streaming, and social media – that saw Glass Animals fast becoming one of the biggest bands of the year.

An album about community but without the ability to tour, Glass Animals took things into their own hands. Connecting with fans online in a variety of innovative ways – from creating an interactive ’90s-esque website filled with easter eggs and hidden content to the livestream concert the band dubbed a “One-Off AudioVisual Experience” and to Bayley taking fans into his songwriting den – Glass Animals weren’t slowing down for a second.

But on the live stage is where they do things best, and if reviews from their recent shows across the US and UK are anything to go by, you don’t want to miss a second of their Australian visit.

Get to know Ticketmaster’s Smart Queue

If you aren’t familiar with Smart Queue , it is Ticketmaster’s way of creating a clear and fair process for thousands of fans to buy tickets in a short space of time. Fans enter the virtual Waiting Room prior to onsale time before joining the Smart Queue – which acts as a ‘virtual line’, helping us protect you and your tickets in a more effective way.

The time you join the Waiting Room does not determine your place in the Smart Queue, so we recommend joining at least 10 minutes prior to the event going on sale but there is no need to rush.

When the sale begins, the Smart Queue will open and everyone in the Waiting Room is given a place in line. Those who did not join the Waiting Room will be placed at the end of the line.

  • Sign in to your Ticketmaster account at least 10 minutes before joining the Waiting Room. This will speed up your purchase later.
  • Confirm you have a valid form of payment in your account with current email and billing information. This will make checkout a breeze.
  • Resist the urge to refresh. Your page will automatically refresh when you enter the Smart Queue.
  • Keep an eye on the time! When it’s your turn, your spot will be held for 10 minutes to begin shopping.
  • Just like before, tickets are always based on availability, demand, and are not guaranteed.

Make sure you have a My Ticketmaster account

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as they’re progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the Waiting Room and when you’re being pushed through the Smart Queue and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Glass Animals will bring their Dreamland tour to Australia in July 2022. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.

Glass Animals announce blockbuster Australian shows for 2022

A 2021 press shot of Glass Animals

The reigning Hottest 100 champs hit our shores in July to play three huge dates!

Despite topping the 2020 countdown with 'Heat Waves' , Glass Animals haven't had the opportunity to tour Dreamland, the album the single is lifted from . Now they'll get the chance!

You might've caught teaser posters popping up around the country , but this morning the Oxford band have confirmed they're returning Down Under next winter. They'll perform to around 4-5,000 fans in Perth and Sydney, and nearly double that in Melbourne! It’s a big step-up from the 900-ish capacity rooms Glass Animals played on their last visit in 2019 .

Update: Brisbane-based songwriter and producer Sycco has joined as special guest for the Dreamland Tour.

The self-described 'Superstar' has wrapped her first UK/European tour and plays alongside Glass Animals before they both hit Splendour In The Grass in July. She's also set to play Tame Impala's long-awaited homecoming tour and Groovin The Moo next year.

View all the dates below. Tickets are up for grabs now.

Glass Animals Dreamland 2022 Australian Dates

with special guest Sycco

  • Thursday 14 July - HBF Stadium: Whadjuk Noongar, Perth
  • Saturday 16 July, Hordern Pavilion: Gadigal Land, Sydney SOLD OUT
  • Sunday 17 July, Hordern Pavillion: Gadigal Land, Sydney NEW SHOW
  • Tuesday 19 July, John Cain Arena: Wurunderji Woi Wurrung, Melbourne

You know what this means? Frontman Dave Bayley can now make good on the claim he made to Spacey Jane while giving props to their track 'Booster Seat', aka the #2 Hottest song of 2020 .

"Shout out to Spacey Jane, gorgeous song! We’re going to have to get some beers over there," Dave told triple j during the fist play of sticky new single, 'I Don't Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)' .

The track was part of the "bonus levels" featured on an expanded version of Dreamland. Originally released in August 2020 just as COVID-19 tightened its unwelcome grip on the world, Dreamland saw the British group reaching a new level of popularity and critical acclaim.

Dave said hearing 'Heat Waves' announced as the Hottest song of 2020 "was the moment of my pandemic... No-one’s had a great pandemic but that was the diamond in my pandemic.”

As well as making Glass Animals the first UK act since 2009 to top triple j's Hottest 100, 'Heat Waves' sat atop the Australian charts for six weeks straight. The single has spent 41 weeks in the ARIA Singles Top 10, putting it on par with Tones And I mega-hit 'Dance Monkey' for holding the record for most weeks in the Top 10 in ARIA history.

Glass Animals Are Bringing Their Peanut Butter Vibes To Australia For Three Big Gigs Next Year

glass animals australia tour 2022

Courtney Fry

After smashing out some massive, sold-out shows in the US and their beloved UK, Glass Animals are set to bring their shimmering world tour to us. It’s a big party to celebrate their third album, Dreamland, which dropped last year and they haven’t even had the chance to play it live down here yet.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Untitled Group (@untitledgroupau)

Importantly to us Aussies specifically, that album includes their smash hit ‘Heat Waves’, which we all lost our minds over and voted in at #1 in the 2020 Hottest 100 earlier this year. Feels almost surreal that their big win was literally 10 months ago, doesn’t it?

The band’s quick lap around Australia is also set to be their biggest shows here for them to date, and they’re set to kick things off at HBF Stadium in Perth on July 14, before hitting big stages in Sydney and Melbourne. Get yourself ready for some late nights in the middle of June July, ‘cos I reckon these shows are going to be a serious boogie and a half.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Glass Animals (@glassanimals)

Once again I’m  very curious about these dates from a band that’s had a truly mammoth 2021 in the Australian charts, considering they all very conveniently happen around the time of a certain large-scale festival event that they would be perfect for. Much to ponder, how very curious indeed.

Whatever the go is there, these three dates are very much real and happening. Tickets for all of these big, sweaty, wiggly shows go on sale from 2pm AEDT on Tuesday, November 23. There’s a sneaky presale happening from November 22 as well, which you can sign up for right now.

Glass Animals add second Sydney show to 2022 Australian tour

Tickets for their second Splendour In The Grass sideshow go on sale this Friday

Glass Animals have added a fifth date to their upcoming tour of Australia , announcing a second show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.

  • READ MORE: Glass Animals: “Everything that made me who I am was taken away by the accident”

The Oxford band’s first Hordern gig – slated to go down on Saturday July 16 – sold out in a matter of minutes after tickets went on sale last November. The new show will take place the night after that one (on Sunday July 17), with tickets available from Untitled starting 12pm this Friday (March 18).

Outside of their two Sydney dates, Glass Animals will headline shows in Perth and Melbourne, respectively scheduled for Thursday July 14 and Tuesday 19. They’ll also perform at this year’s Splendour In The Grass , taking to the Byron Bay Parklands on Saturday July 23 with the likes of The Strokes , Violent Soho , Jack Harlow , The Jungle Giants , Oliver Tree , JPEGMafia and more.

The tour comes in support of Glass Animals’ third album, ‘Dreamland’, which hit shelves back in August 2020. Its single ‘Heat Waves’ topped that year’s triple j Hottest 100 , making them the first UK band to do so since Mumford & Sons in 2009. The group pledged to tattoo their arses with the outline of the Australian continent if they won – a promise they ultimately kept, getting the tattoos back in January .

NME gave ‘Dreamland’ a four-star review upon release, with writer Hannah Mylrea saying the band “have overcome a period of intense adversity to bring you a record of deeply personal tales – all set to shimmering pop tunes”.

Since releasing ‘Dreamland’, Glass Animals have released the single ‘I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)’ and shared a reworking of ‘Heat Waves’ featuring Iann Dior . They also covered Lorde’s ‘Solar Power’ for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and – backstage at the 2022 BRIT Awards – joked to NME that their fourth album would be a “Celtic opera” featuring bagpipes .

Project Description

Glass animals + sycco @ hbf stadium, perth, 14th july 2022 (live review), review by melanie griffiths.

Glass Animals // Photo – Adrian Thomson

Glass Animals are living the dream as they launched their Australian Dreamlands Tour to an enraptured crowd of thousands at HBF Stadium. Bringing with them their brand of luminous electronic rock and an indulgently visual show they proved why they belong at the top of the music world.

Singer and frontman , dave bayley admitted that glass animals were meant to come out to australia two years ago but those plans fell away with the pandemic. now they return as the biggest uk band of the moment coming off their massive slow burn hit “heat waves” which still dominates the charts and tiktok. their appeal is a coalescent blend of dewy-eyed synth-pop and liquid rock contrasted with candy-hued visuals that create an intoxicating mix. .

Sycco // Photo – Adrian Thomson

At HBF Stadium they utilised this concept and delivered a show that was high on visual memes whilst demonstrating why there is more to the group than just one song. Firstly, Brisbane singer/songwriter Sycco provided support playing first to a healthy crowd on a stage that was dressed like a desktop neon diorama resplendent with palm trees, a basketball hoop, pastel neon signs and a large screen that would later display eighties inspired computer graphics. The synthwave, cyberpunk aesthetic became another vital player alongside Glass Animals. The show was kicked off with Bayley saying “Oh My God! It’s finally good to be here” before a hypnotic outing of “Dreamland” followed by the tribalesque “Life Itself” was rolled out.

The bespectacled bayley dominates as the frontman, with the singer commanding the attention of the crowd as he flitted from microphone and instruments, bouncing around on stage through “tangerine”, “space ghost coast to coast” and “black mambo”. many of the songs are delicious pop tunes with juicy hooks and bright melodies that albeit follow in the same stylistic vein. later in the night, bayley would comment “i remember being in lockdown in my undies back in england not being able to leave the house and seeing everyone enjoy the song [heat waves] over here and it meant the world” and the group seem to have taken this to heart as they performed as if they were making up for lost time., moments of respite were given with down-tempo moments like “hot sugar”, “the other side of paradise” and “youth” which featured home videos on the screen and showed more of their lyrical side. with everything happening on stage it was a shame that no screens were showing the group themselves but maybe that would’ve ruined the aesthetic, yet with the band being in silhouette, the crowd still lapped up everything on offer singing through most songs and periodically breaking out in floor stamping. it was hard not to get caught up in the moment when you had songs like “your love (déjà vu)” being performed with the audacious cheekiness of a band who were as enthralled in front of a perth audience as they were on stage at glastonbury festival a few weeks ago., perhaps it’s the joy of touring again, perhaps it’s because they are riding high on awards, chart dominance and pop culture recognition or perhaps it’s because they’re genuinely chuffed to be performing in the country that pushed them into that stratosphere. before finishing the night with heat waves, bayley told the crowd “this is why i missed australia” and then he seemed to take a moment before announcing that this would be the first australian performance of “heat waves” , and of course, the song received a massive roar before being sung with loud affection., glass animals are at the top of their game, from staging, flashy visuals and a hefty dose of showmanship, this was a victory lap for the band. after an achromic couple of years, this is the concert we sorely needed and are unlikely to forget., check out adrian thomson’s gallery of this show here, follow glass animals website  –  facebook  –  twitter  –  instagram, press release january 2022 (below) here, glass animals make good on their promise following 2021 hottest 100  win & get australian themed tattoos on their backsides, amnplify – db.

Sadness and Synchronicity: Dave Bayley On Glass Animals’ Chart Topping 24 Months

glass animals australia tour 2022

Glass Animals will bring their third album, Dreamland, to Australia in July. Rolling Stone Australia spoke to songwriter and frontperson, Dave Bayley, about Dreamland, “Heat Waves” and a whirlwind 24 months.

Dave Bayley was born in the USA. His father is Welsh and his mother Israeli. The Glass Animals leader lived in Massachusetts until he was seven and Texas until the age of fourteen. His family then moved to Oxford, in south east England, where Bayley remained into adulthood.

Bayley now lives in the east London neighbourhood of Hackney, surrounded by a who’s who of contemporary British music.

“We’re all in Hackney,” laughs Bayley, who’s sitting in his home recording studio. The room is lit a fluorescent pink. To Bayley’s right are a few monsteras and ferns, the sort of plants you’d expect to see on stage at a Glass Animals show.

He goes on: “I go out for lunch here—there’s like one café here—and every single day I see the same people: I see The xx and [FKA] twigs. It’s all really awkward. Like, ‘Are you getting the soup? Oh nice. That’s cool.’”

Bayley will leave Hackney for an Australian tour this July, which includes a run of Glass Animals headline dates and stops at Splendour in the Grass and Adelaide’s Spin Off Festival. Glass Animals’ Australian fanbase has been building since the band released its self-titled EP in 2013. Bayley and co. sold out their first Australian club shows in April 2014, a couple of months before their debut album, Zaba , came out.

But this time it’s different. Not only has the band’s latest album, Dreamland , been their most successful to date, but the single “Heat Waves” is a certified hit. It’s a hit everywhere, too: in Indonesia, America, across Europe and at home in the UK.

Its success in Australia is perhaps the most comprehensive. “Heat Waves” topped ARIA’s Top 100 Singles of 2021 chart, eclipsing The Kid LAROI’s “Stay” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”—not bad for a track released in June 2020.

The song’s broader popularity followed its victory in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020. As a consequence of the Hottest 100 win, Bayley and guitarist Drew MacFarlane agreed to get Australian-themed tattoos on their bums. Bayley got a map of Australia decorated with squiggly lines representing heat, MacFarlane an impression of a koala on a branch.

“When I think back over the last two years, I get palpitations,” says Bayley. “I feel like it was so many good things and so many horrific things.”

The first horrific thing happened in 2018 when Glass Animals’ drummer, Joe Seaward, was hit by a truck while bicycling around Dublin. Seaward required brain surgery, which put the band’s foreseeable tour plans on ice. Seaward made a somewhat miraculous recovery to be available in time for the Dreamland recording sessions in 2019. But trouble lurked around the corner.

“As soon as he’d made his recovery and we were playing shows, we were hit with the long, hard schlong of the pandemic,” says Bayley. “And that was right as we were releasing our album. I thought [the band] was over.”

Despite Bayley’s mortal fears, however, the album took off. “Heat Waves” preceded the album’s release by five weeks and caused a sufficient enough stir to push Dreamland into the top ten in Australia, the USA and Britain (where it debuted at #2).

Glass Animals have never been an obscure commercial proposition—Bayley’s not the sort of songwriter to lay all his cards on the table at once, but the band’s hip hop- and R&B-influenced indie pop music has always possessed a core accessibility—but it’s not marketing spin to say the success of Dreamland was unforeseen.

The album was conceived as a self-consciously personal project for Bayley. The lyrics reflect on the singer’s tweenage experiences in Texas in the late 1990s and early 2000s; audio clips from family home videos are interspersed throughout the track listing; and the production draws on Bayley’s affection for ’90/’00s hip hop heavyweights, Dr. Dre, Timbaland and The Neptunes.

Regardless of the record’s hyper-subjectivity, “Something worked,” says Bayley.

“I think maybe it was a record about nostalgia and people were feeling nostalgic in the pandemic,” he adds. “When you’re not out creating new memories, you go relive the old ones. It was a record about that, perhaps.”

18 months later, people in their millions are still listening to Dreamland . The album’s deluxe edition includes new versions of “Tangerine” (feat. Arlo Parks) and “Heat Waves” (feat. Iann Dior) , remixes from Diplo and Oliver Heldens, and the new single, “I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)”, which cracked the top 25 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2021.

Glass Animals are currently the 34 th most played artist in the world on Spotify, and no one’s more surprised than Bayley. “I actually felt it was quite a sad and sombre, insular record,” he says. “I never expected this much from it, to be honest.”

Bayley expresses comparable astonishment at the ongoing success of “Heat Waves”. “Heat Waves” is the fourteenth track on a sixteen track album. Neither the band nor their label anticipated its smash hit potential. Though, Bayley can acknowledge why a sad and sombre pop song like “Heat Waves” might exert transnational appeal at a time like this.

“It’s a song about missing someone,” he says. “We’re all missing people right now. It’s a strange time and in those times people do try to find comfort in music—I know I find comfort in music.”

Glass Animals is an indie rock band from Oxford, UK. Its music is a highly eclectic blend of different sounds, which include pop, rock, and psychedelic music. Glass Animals’ unique sound continues to garner new fans, as well as coveted gigs with well-known musicians.

The band has played numerous headlining gigs as well as opened up for such artists as St. Vincent, Metronomy, and Yeasayer.

The band is a collaboration between four childhood friends: frontman/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Dave Bayley, guitarist and keyboardist Drew MacFarlane, bassist and keyboardistEdmund Irwin-Singer, and drummer Joe Seaward. Bayley was raised in the United States but returned to his native England at age 13, where he was enrolled at St. Edward’s School in Oxford on a music scholarship. This is where he met MacFarlane, who was also raised in the US, as well as Irwin-Singer and Seaward. The group was still in school when it released its debut EP, Leaflings, in 2012.

After the release of its EP, Glass toured around England playing some small clubs and would later release its self-titled EP in 2013. Glass Animals conveyed the band’s eccentric style of music, including its catchy mannerisms.

Glass Animals is heavily influenced by both psychedelic music and the study of biology, and both of these concepts are present throughout its albums. Their self-titled EP contains the track “Psylla,” which is a reference to a sap-sucking insect. The track also contains psychedelic elements like heavy reverb, delay, and breathy vocals. The song “Woozy” is also presented on the EP, which has a trip-hop vibe as well as including a guest appearance by Jean Deaux, who raps a verse in the song.

The band soon caught the attention of high-profile producer Paul Epworth, who has worked with such artists such as Adele, Coldplay, Paul McCartney, and Bruno Mars. Epworth signed the band to his label Wolf Tone. With his support, Glass Animals released its debut album, Zaba, which was highly influenced by William Steig’s children’s book The Zabajaba Jungle.

The songs on Zaba feature tribal drum patterns as well as sounds of nature, which were captured by lead singer David Bayley recording ambient sounds in outdoor settings. Critics have praised Zaba for its unique blend of electronica and R&B music that is presented in a minimalistic way. Critics have also commented that the album resembles the sounds of Jamie xx and Flying Lotus. The album did extremely well on the Australian music charts and contained the singles “Black Mambo,” “Gooey,” “Pools,” and “Hazey.”

In 2014 and 2015 the band made major moves, performing “Gooey” on both The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Seth Meyers. It toured both hemispheres of the globe and performed over 130 concerts in 2015, including sold-out performances at The Wiltern in Los Angeles and Terminal 5 in New York City. In the midst of this, they also released a collaboration called “Lose Control” with rapper Joey Bada$$.

The next year was no less eventful. In May, Glass Animals dropped the single “Life Itself” in anticipation of its upcoming second full-length album, How to Be a Human Being. The single rose to number 14 on the US Billboard Alternative Song chart and spent half a year on Sirius XM’s Alt-18 chart. The accompanying music video came out in June 2016. The second single, “Youth,” was released on July 25. It also saw immediate success and made it into the FIFA 17 by EA Sports. “Season 2 Episode 3,” the third single, came out on August 22, four days before the album came out.

The album How to Be a Human Being was inspired by people Bayley met while on tour. Each song explored a different person’s life, resulting in fascinating insights into other people’s experiences. For instance, “Season 2 Episode 3” told the story of a woman who “spends her entire time watching TV, lounging around, not doing anything, being high, eating mayonnaise from a jar.”

In 2018, while preparing for yet another tour, drummer Joe Seaward was hit by a truck during a bike ride in Dublin. Facing serious injuries, he and the band decided to cancel the rest of 2018’s tour dates.

Two singles for its next album came out in November 2019 and February 2020: “Tokyo Drifting” (with Denzel Curry) and “Your Love (Déjà Vu).” The next single, “Dreamland,” came out in May 2020 and was accompanied by an official announcement of the upcoming album’s release on July 10.

“Dreamland” came out during Seaward’s long hospitalization after his accident. While Bayley was sitting by his bedside, he began to write down memories, which turned into a nostalgic album, also called Dreamland. It contained material related to Bayley’s childhood and other pivotal moments throughout his life.

Though Dreamland was scheduled for release in July 2020, in late June, the band delayed its release to “keep focus on the Black Lives Matter movement and the discussions taking place around racism and police brutality around the world.” Glass Animals instead released it in August. The band also launched a website where fans could interact with the album — downloading samples of the songs, inspecting artwork, and learning more about the album’s content. Bayley explained that the goal was “to make something that was incredibly honest and incredibly us.” Dreamland debuted at number two in the UK Albums Chart.

In January 2021, “Heat Waves” hit the number one spot on Australia’s Triple J Hottest 100 of 2020. “Tangerine” and “Your Love (Déjà Vu)” also made the chart. Other singles from the album continued to climb the charts well into 2022.

Live reviews

Proudly touting one of the year's strongest debut records, Oxford's Glass Animals are on course to be an unrivalled quartet of dominating figures in the immediate future. Their first LP, ZABA, is a gorgeous commingling of syrupy gloop-splattered synths, Yellow Fever funk guitar, alt-J-esque falsetto harmonies and rampant beats that sound like a jungle stampede. They spin an addictive and hugely unique style of music, and though it's achingly familiar, there's never any anchoring point – a rare treat in today's sonic landscape. There's a delirious opiate aura as their blur the borders of R&B, rock, pop, electronica and soul, and don't be surprised if you're sucked into an anachronistic tornado, and promptly blurted into a surreal(er) land of Oz.

It's an ambitious set of tracks to transfer into live scenarios, but, even in their relatively early days, they've fine-tuned and sharpened an array of sandblasted efforts. Their shows are littered with fan favourites: “Gooey”, “Cocoa Hooves” (sans slugs), “Flip”, “Walla Walla” and a delightfully warped cover of Kanye West's “Love Lockdown”, so expect the immaculately-coiffed lads to dazzle on every front. Even if you're not familiar with the band, it's well worth taking a gamble and watching them live; as much as it's an impressive performance, it's an experience that'll melt the innards of your cranium.

Wow! What a talented and likable group of guys who put on one of the best shows I've seen in awhile. Having only released two albums so far, Glass Animals certainly have to put some lesser-known songs into their setlist. But here's the thing: they truly don't have a bad song. Each track has a different sound and a different story to tell. The show started with the jumpy and rhythmic "Life Itself," but was immediately followed by the deliciously slow and smooth jams "Black Mambo" and "Hazey." Other standouts included "Poplar St," a slow burn with a killer guitar line, "Season 2 Episode 3," a techno-infused song complete with video game noises and quirky lyrics ("My girl eats mayonnaise/From a jar when she's gettin' blazed), and "Youth," a cheerful crowd-pleaser. Of course, "Gooey," the lads' most famous hit, brought the house down and a solid encore finished off the show. I think I was most impressed with the performance aspect of the concert. The strobe lights and the energy of the band really made the most of the NorVa's small space. And, oh yeah, a giant pineapple disco ball doesn't hurt.

Been wanting to watch this band since their inception. Finally got the perfect opportunity with the grand opening of the roxy, a new venue right in front of the brand new braves stadium!

their act is visceral and mind bending at times. They started out strong with their latest single with their latest single "life itself". This showed how skillful they've become with their live act and how they've developed over time. One of the coolest set features was how in sync the lighting effects were with the act especially the light reflections that came from a huge pineapple disco ball that hung above the stage.

Highlight of the show was undoubtedly their ability to break off into solos and improve each song. Usually when I think of glass animals I think calm and soothing sounds but this show was the opposite. Just imagine their songs on steroids. Amazing show to say the least and I can not wait to watch they live again!

If you're reading this, you're likely already a fan of their music. Well after seeing them live, I'm a bigger fan. The lead singer was so enthusiastic and looked like he was having a blast and when the crowd showed the band love, he was humble and endearing and played even harder. His energy was infectious and the whole room just seemed really stoked to be there as was I. They are really fun and if I had any complaint, it was that they didn't play long enough. Also, might I add that it is SO refreshing to hear an indie band PLAY INSTRUMENTS and not just a keyboard synth while acting like it was re-inventing the wheel. I like those bands too but what a breath of fresh air. Instruments. And real drums. Every one of them was just fantastic. I am so glad I got to experience this and will again the next chance I get.

So this is a band I've been into for a while now and yet to see. Since hearing this record earlier this year when it came out, I've definitely been wanting to see them live, and it was definitely worth the wait. We were greeted by the sight of a veritable forest of large potted plants around the stage, creating a surreal yet playful atmosphere, hinting at the kind of people these guys are, who created one of the most intriguing albums to come out this year. From the minute they hit the stage they had the entire audience enthralled. Running through most of the tracks off their first full length album "Zaba" with enthusiasm and energy, standout tracks "Gooey" and "Hazey" and the tribal "Wyrd" got the crowd moving! They definitely sounded like a band that are destined for great things. Definitely ones to watch!

It was great, it started with super chill band from Colombia that were super cool and had some really unique influences. But then shit hit the fan. Another band came out... Little Dragon. A Swedish band that would sound good if they just turned off the singers mic and took it easy on the bass. The singer couldn't sing and it felt like their set would never end. It was weird and you couldn't understand a word she said. But enough about that malarky. Glass Animals my god it was fantastic. Every song was so good, they changed tempo or put in solos to the songs and it was so enjoyable. The lights where perfect and fit the songs lyrics so well. I honestly can not say enough good things about the show. 10/10 would see Glass Animals again

these guys BROUGHT IT. it was not a great night weather-wise - torrential downpour, flash flooding, and an hour's delay after they had only played a few songs. but more than half the crowd at red rocks stuck it out through the very damp night. once they took the stage again they were ready to rock - very high energy, dave was clearly having a blast. he told the crowd that we had a "british music festival" vibe, and i took it as a compliment. great set list, mostly from "how to be a human being," but a few from "zaba" thrown into the mix. would definitely love to see these guys perform again.

Seeing Glass Animals live is a truly amazing experience. There was such a relaxed atmosphere at their show as each song blended with another. Their music is so infectious and that showed by the audience's reaction, with most of the room swaying to frontman Dave's vocals and the dripping beats that makes their music so unique. Dave performed without shoes, in wooly socks, so that gives you an idea of how relaxed the band is! I will definitely be wanting to see them again in 2016, eagerly anticipating their 2nd album!

I go to a lot of small venue shoes. I lived in NYC for 8 years and went to a TON of shows as well as travel in the summer for gigs. I had never seen Glass Animals before last night and was STUNNED.

Blown. Away.

They were amazing. The energy of the crowd who knew all the lyrics helped but they were just incredible. The show was short because they only have 1 full length album but I will JUMP at the opportunity to see these guys again. Thank you for not only producing great music but putting on an entertaining live show.

The Glass Animals was the headline band for Buzz Under the Stars Night 1. The show was incredibly put together with dazzling lights, perfect stage presence and, of course, amazing music. Dave Bayley looked as if he loved what he was doing the entire show; interacting with the audience, dancing, introducing songs and his band members. The audience itself was enthralled with the entire show from start to finish. It was an all around spiritual experience and I would undoubtedly recommend the Glass Animals for years to come.

Adding to an already incredible year, Glass Animals have announced their North American “Dreamland Tour.” The run kicks off this August and takes the band across North America well into 2022. The shows add to their already sold-out UK tour dates, previously announced Red Rocks shows and confirmed festival performances at Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful, and Outside Lands. The band comes to Chicago on Friday, March 18, 2022 for a concert at the Credit Union 1 Arena (formerly known at the UIC Pavilion). Show time is 8:00 pm.

Fans can purchase tickets ($65.50/$55.50/$45.50/$35.50) on Thursday, May 6 at 10:00 am via Ticketmaster.com.

In addition, last week the band was selected as 2021 Billboard Music Awards finalists for Top Rock Song “Heat Waves” and Top Rock Album Dreamland. This is the first time the band has been recognized by the BBMAs. The Billboard Music Awards LIVE will take place Sunday, May 23 on NBC.

Earlier this month, Glass Animals performed “Heat Waves” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the band took over Margate’s Dreamland Theme Park and brought it back to life with an electrifying performance—watch HERE . In addition, they performed on The Ellen Degeneres Show where they took over a skate rink and used fan submitted footage to fill the television screens behind their performance—watch HERE.

“ Heat Waves ” is taken from Glass Animals’ critically acclaimed third album Dreamland released last summer and this week was certified Platinum in the US. Neary a year since its release, the song continues to grow globally across streaming platforms and on radio charts. Amassing over 450 million global streams to date , “Heat Waves” peaked at #1 on the Alternative Radio Chart for 3 consecutive weeks , a first for Glass Animals in their career. The track currently sits in the Top 20 on the Top 40 Radio Chart and is making similar moves at Hot AC and AAA. “Heat Waves” held the #1 spot on the ARIA Official Singles Chart in Australia for six consecutive weeks , marking the band’s first #1 single globally and in their release history. Last week, it hit a new peak on Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart at #25 . With over 2.5 million global adjusted single sales , the song has amassed 2 million daily streams and received 16 million views of the video on YouTube. Glass Animals recently hit a new Spotify monthly listener peak of 17.2 million , surpassing the likes of Tame Impala, Gorillaz, The 1975 and The Strokes.

Since its initial release last June, “Heat Waves” has experienced a global rise in support. Having originally resonated with Glass Animals fans, word quickly spread, and the track started getting healthy traction at radio globally. Next came a sync placement on FIFA , which opened up a whole new audience and helped the track begin to climb charts all over the world. “Heat Waves” most notably was then crowned number 1 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 – an accolade not given to a UK band since 2009 with previous winners including Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish. A third surge in attention came more recently with an organic Minecraft affiliation, whereby the YouTuber LoverFella (2.3M subscribers) rebuilt a Glass Animals fan’s base and surprised her with a meet and greet with the band who were waiting inside. Watch it  HERE and the Extended BTS HERE . Dave Bayley recently sat down to chat about the track’s creation with Hrishikesh Hirway  on the coveted Song Exploder Podcast . Listen to the interview HERE .

Glass Animals’ album Dreamland entered UK charts on its opening week at #2 (their highest ever scoring chart position, a massive 21 spots above their last album, Mercury Prize nominated How To Be A Human Being ) and charted inside the top 10 in the US, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. The album clocked up 160 million streams in its first week of release.
