SEATTLE , March 31, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Marking a milestone in its 89-year history, Alaska Airlines today celebrated its first day as a member of one world. Alaska becomes the 14 th full member of the global alliance, just eight months after receiving a formal invitation from one world in July 2020 .

Experience the interactive Multichannel News Release here: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8473052-alaska-airlines-officially-joins-oneworld/

"Joining one world is joining a family of the best airlines in the world," said Ben Minicucci, Alaska’s CEO. "Being a part of the alliance allows us to provide fantastic global connectivity, a seamless travel experience and more valuable loyalty offerings for our guests. This alliance transforms Alaska into a truly global airline, connecting our strong West Coast network and destinations across North America with the worldwide reach of our one world partners."

With safety protocols in place due to the pandemic, Alaska and one world hosted a virtual celebration and news conference today in Seattle , the airline’s hometown. Fellow airline members from around the world welcomed Alaska to the alliance with video greetings and provided versions of employees performing the Alaska Safety Dance, briefly renamed the Global Safety Dance.

"With Alaska Airlines now part of one world, we are excited to offer to customers even more destinations and flights, strengthened by Alaska’s leading network on the U.S. West Coast," said one world CEO Rob Gurney , who joined Minicucci in Seattle for the event. "For one world top-tier customers, the joining of Alaska will provide even more opportunities for their status to be recognised as we look forward to a recovery in international travel."

For Alaska and its guests, one world provides a global network of flights to as many as 1,000 destinations across more than 170 countries and territories*. With its membership in the alliance, Alaska will add seven new airline partners and enhance its six existing partnerships with one world members.

"We’re delighted to welcome Alaska to the one world family. As the industry recovers from COVID, airline alliances are going to be more important than ever. Alaska will be an asset to the alliance, positioning one world to deliver even more value to our customers and member airlines," said one world Governing Board Chairman and Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce .

Effective today, all Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn miles when they fly any of the other 13 member airlines. Mileage redemption for flights on airlines that Alaska did not have previous partnerships with will occur in the coming months.

Alaska’s  elite Mileage Plan members automatically receive matching  one world tier status : MVP Gold 75K =  one world Emerald; MVP Gold =  one world Sapphire; and MVP =  one world Ruby. Depending on tier status, those passengers can enjoy a variety of privileges, including access to more than 650 international first and business class lounges*, fast track through security and priority baggage benefits. Guests with Emerald, Sapphire or Ruby status in any one world member airline’s frequent flyer program will be able to use priority check-in desks, where available. Also, guests with Emerald or Sapphire status will be offered priority boarding.

"If you’ve been a frequent flier who has earned status with us, all that loyalty will go even further with benefits in  one world to make your journey even more enjoyable," said Minicucci.

Alaska fliers can find out more about what one world means for them on the Alaska Airlines Blog .

Flight connectivity becomes easier with Alaska’s membership in one world, especially on international bookings, which includes a long-standing partnership with American Airlines. American, a one world founding member, sponsored Alaska’s membership into the alliance.

" Alaska has been an outstanding partner to American for nearly 40 years and we’re excited to do even more together in the years to come," said American Airlines President Robert Isom . "By connecting American’s strength in long-haul international flying and Alaska’s strong presence along the West Coast, we’re building a better network for our customers than either airline could build alone."

The 14 full members of one world are: Alaska Airlines; American Airlines; British Airways; Cathay Pacific Airways; Finnair; Iberia; Japan Airlines; Malaysia Airlines; Qantas; Qatar Airways; Royal Air Maroc; Royal Jordanian; S7 Airlines and SriLankan Airlines. Fiji Airways is a one world connect partner offering select alliance benefits to frequent flyers from any one world member airline travelling on their flights.

Allianz Travel Insurance Review: Is it Worth The Cost?

What does Allianz Travel Insurance cover?

Allianz single trip plans, allianz annual/multi-trip plans, which allianz travel insurance plan is best for me, can you buy allianz travel insurance online, what isn't covered by allianz travel insurance, is allianz travel insurance worth it.

insurance-product-card-logo

  • Annual or single-trip policies are available.
  • Multiple types of insurance available.
  • All plans include access to a 24/7 assistance hotline.
  • More expensive than average.
  • CFAR upgrades are not available.
  • Rental car protection is only available by adding the One Trip Rental Car protector to your plan or by purchasing a standalone rental car plan.

Allianz Travel Insurance is provided by Allianz Global Assistance, an insurer that operates in 35 countries and serves 40 million customers in the U.S. The company offers several types of travel insurance plans depending on your needs.

Travel insurance will help protect you if unexpected events affect your vacation. Whether you’re looking for a comprehensive plan or emergency medical coverage only to supplement the travel insurance you have from your credit cards , Allianz Global Assistance offers plenty of options.

Allianz trip insurance plans fall into two categories: single trip and annual/multi-trip plans. We evaluated several single trip and annual/multi-trip plans to help you figure out which policy makes sense for you.

Depending on what type of coverage you’re looking for, Allianz offers several different travel insurance options. Allianz’s plan choices fall under single trip or annual/multi-trip plans.

Single trip plans are designed for individuals who are leaving their home, visiting another destination (or destinations) and returning home. These travel insurance plans are the most comprehensive and provide benefits like trip cancellation, trip interruption and medical coverage.

Annual/multi-trip plans are designed for those who like to take a lot of little trips throughout the year as well as for business travelers. Because the coverage period is longer, these plans are more expensive.

Some of these plans include medical coverage only while others also provide more comprehensive travel insurance perks. There’s coverage for business equipment as these plans are geared toward work travelers.

Allianz offers five travel insurance plans for single trips, including a plan that's mainly focused on emergency medical coverage.

The OneTrip Cancellation Plus plan is geared toward domestic travelers who are looking for trip cancellation, interruption and delay coverage but don't need post-departure benefits like emergency medical or baggage loss. This plan is Allianz’s most affordable option.

OneTrip Basic, Prime and Premier are three comprehensive travel insurance plans.

OneTrip Basic is the most economical plan and offers trip cancellation, interruption and delay benefits along with emergency medical and baggage loss.

OneTrip Prime provides all the benefits of the Basic plan but with higher limits, a few extra coverage areas and complimentary coverage for children 17 and under when traveling with a parent or grandparent.

OneTrip Premier offers the most coverage, doubling almost every post-departure limit of the Prime plan with more covered cancellation reasons.

If you don't need pre-departure trip cancellation and interruption protections or you already have coverage through a premium travel credit card , the standalone OneTrip Emergency Medical plan may be a good choice. The plan mainly provides emergency medical protections along with some baggage loss/delay benefits.

Allianz single-trip plan cost

Here's a look at the cost of an Allianz travel insurance policy for a one-week, $1,500 vacation to Croatia in August 2020 taken by a 30-year-old from Texas.

global alliance travel

The OneTrip Premier is the most expensive plan and provides the highest level of protection, especially for emergency medical events.

However, if you’re OK with lower limits on emergency medical, a OneTrip Prime or Basic plan could be a more appropriate choice. These costs represent a range of 3.4%-7.5% of the total cost of the trip, which is in line with typical costs of 4%-8%, according to the U.S. Travel Insurance Association.

Allianz offers four different annual/multi-trip plans.

AllTrips Basic is suitable for those who would like emergency medical coverage while abroad but don't need trip cancellation and interruption benefits. The AllTrips Prime, Executive and Premier plans provide an entire year of comprehensive travel insurance benefits.

The Executive and Premier plans offer various levels of trip cancellation and interruption benefits. The Executive plan is specifically designed for business travelers since it offers protection for business equipment.

Allianz annual/multi-trip plans cost

Let's look at an example of an annual Allianz travel insurance plan that starts in July 2020 for a 50-year-old from Illinois.

global alliance travel

Coverage under these plans is offered for trips up to 45 days in length.

The AllTrips Executive plan costs significantly more than the other plans; this is mainly due to higher trip cancellation coverage, emergency medical and business equipment protections. The Executive coverage amount for trip cancellation can be increased beyond what is quoted here, driving that plan's price up to as much as $785.

If you’re not concerned with pre-trip cancellation benefits and don’t need the increased level of medical coverage, the Basic plan is the most affordable option.

For trips longer than 45 days, the AllTrips Premier plan might be a better choice as it offers coverage for up to 90 days. Using the same search parameters but with 90 days of coverage per trip, the cost of the annual plan is $475.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card

Choosing the right plan for your trip involves understanding what type of coverage you will want while you’re abroad.

If you have a premium travel card (e.g., the Chase Sapphire Reserve® ): These cards often offer some trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, so you may not need a plan that offers all the same coverage. In this case, getting the OneTrip Medical plan might be enough.

If you’re going on a trip and returning home: OneTrip Prime, Basic or Premier are good options to choose from while offering different levels of coverage.

If you’ll be going on multiple and longer trips: the AllTrips Premier plan might be best as it provides insurance benefits for trips up to 90 days in length. The remaining three annual AllTrips plans cover multiple trips, up to 45 days.

If the coverage provided by your card isn’t adequate, you don’t have credit card coverage or you didn’t pay for your trip with that credit card: In these instances, it's best to choose a comprehensive plan depending on how much coverage you need and for how long. Consider one of the single trip or multi-trip plans.

Travel insurance plans have a lot of exclusions that you need to pay attention to so you know exactly what type of coverage you’re getting. Here are some general exclusions you can expect:

High-risk activities: Skydiving, bungee jumping, heli-skiing, and other types of high-risk sporting activities that the insurer deems unsafe.

Intentional acts: Losses sustained from intoxication, drug use, self-harm and criminal activity.

Specifically designated events: Epidemics, natural disasters and war are specifically mentioned in the policy as exclusions.

It's important to note that exclusions may vary based on the policy and where you live, so it's always best to review the fine print to ensure you’re clear about what is and isn’t covered.

Allianz has been offering insurance for more than 25 years. The company is well established and offers numerous single and annual travel insurance policies to fit many different needs.

Allianz travel insurance plans offer a wide array of benefits including (but not limited to): coronavirus-related coverage, trip cancellation, interruption, emergency medical coverage and transportation, baggage loss/damage, baggage delay, travel delay, change fee coverage, loyalty program redeposit fees, 24-hour assistance and many more benefits. Each plan is different, so you’ll want to look at the specific plans you’re considering to know exactly which benefits you’ll receive.

No, Allianz doesn't offer the Cancel For Any Reason optional upgrade. Review the policy details of the Allianz plan you’re considering to ensure you’re comfortable with the list of covered reasons. For example, the loss of a job can be considered a covered reason, but wanting to cancel a trip because you’re afraid to travel isn't.

Most often, you will need to file a claim with the insurer after you’ve incurred costs. If the claim is approved, you will receive a reimbursement. In other instances (e.g., covered baggage delay), the insurer will pay you a fixed amount per day and you won’t need to submit receipts.

Allianz Global Assistance offers several good travel insurance plans to choose from. If you’re looking for a travel insurance plan for a vacation, a single-trip plan is your best bet.

If you’re a frequent traveler or take lots of business trips, a multi-trip plan could be the way to go. If you have a travel credit card, look at what travel insurance benefits you may already have so you don’t duplicate your coverage .

Why Do I Need Travel Insurance?

Because your trip is too important to leave to chance. For a small fraction of your trip costs, you can count on travel insurance to save the day when things go awry.

  • If you have to cancel your trip for a covered reason, travel insurance can reimburse you for your prepaid, non-refundable trip costs. Without insurance, you could lose the money you paid for your vacation rental, car rental, hotel, flights and more.
  • If you experience a covered medical emergency , travel insurance can help ensure you get high-quality care and reimburse you for covered medical costs. Without insurance, you may have to pay out of pocket.
  • If your rental car gets damaged, lost or stolen , travel insurance can pay for the loss. Without insurance, you could get hit with a huge bill.
  • If you face an unexpected crisis, travel insurance connects you to 24-Hour Hotline Assistance for expert help and advice. Without insurance, you’re on your own.
  • If your travel plans are affected by COVID-19,  many of our travel protection plans now include the Epidemic Coverage Endorsement, which adds covered reasons to select benefits for certain losses related to COVID-19 and any future epidemic. Benefits vary by plan and by state of residence, and are not available in all jurisdictions. Learn more in our COVID-19 FAQ .

Allianz Global Assistance Travel Insurance Review 2024

Updated: Jan 8, 2024, 12:52pm

Allianz Global Assistance offers comprehensive emergency medical insurance coverage with higher limits than other travel plans at an affordable price point. However, while Allianz may be a well known travel insurance brand, its plan offerings are a bit lacklustre compared to other providers.

  • Generous emergency medical coverage
  • Three simple plans
  • Higher medical limits than other plans
  • Affordable premiums
  • Not able to customize coverage
  • Maximum age for coverage is 84 years old
  • No coverage upgrades or add-ons
  • No CFAR coverage

Here are the key types of travel insurance coverage offered in Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance plans:

  • Emergency medical insurance: If you get ill or are injured on your trip, travel medical insurance can pay for emergency medical expenses, up to the coverage limits in your plan. These expenses can include doctor and hospital bills, medication and lab work, as well as medical evacuations, repatriation and arranging for a bedside companion if you are hospitalized.
  • Trip cancellation insurance: If you cancel a trip for a reason listed in your travel policy, such as you or your travelling companion becoming ill, weather conditions cause a massive delay or you lose your job, trip cancellation insurance can reimburse you for prepaid, non-refundable costs.
  • Travel interruption or delay insurance: Trip interruption insurance can pay for a last-minute flight home in an emergency and money that you lose if you have to return home earlier than expected, such as non-refundable activities and hotel stays. It can also cover hotel stays and meals if your trip is delayed. If your flight is delayed , your insurance can cover the cost of incidentals, such as meals or accommodations, after a specified period of time, usually six, 10 or 12 hours.
  • Baggage insurance: Baggage travel insurance can compensate you up to your policy limits if your luggage is lost or stolen. It will reimburse the depreciated value of your suitcases and what you packed. If your checked bags are delayed, it can reimburse you for the cost of the necessities you’ll have to buy to tide you over.
  • Travel accident insurance. This coverage offers compensation in the event of accidental death or catastrophic injury from an accident during your trip. Flight Accident Insurance covers injury while you’re on a commercial plane, during a connection or in an airport. Travel Accident Insurance covers death or dismemberment, including the loss of limbs or eyesight, while on your trip.

There are three plans offered by Allianz Global Assistance for Canadian residents travelling outside of Canada:

Medical + Cancellation Plan: This option provides a package of all available benefits offered by Allianz Global Assistance, including emergency medical, trip cancellation, interruption and delay, lost, stolen or delayed baggage, flight and travel accident coverage, and more.

Coverage for emergency medical treatment includes:

  • Hospital accommodation in a semi-private or private room
  • Service of a physician, surgeon, anaesthetist or registered nurse
  • Private duty nursing, up to $10,000
  • Paramedical services from a chiropractor, osteopath, chiropodist, podiatrist, acupuncturist or physiotherapist, up to $600 per profession
  • Lab tests and X-rays
  • Air, land or sea ambulance
  • Rental of crutches or a hospital-type bed and the cost of splints, trusses, braces or other prosthetic devices
  • Emergency outpatient services
  • Drugs or medication for your medical emergency, up to a 30-day supply
  • Emergency dental treatment due to a blow to the face, up to $4,000
  • Emergency dental treatment due to pain, up to $500

Medical coverage also covers the cost to transport up to two bedside companions if you are hospitalized, the cost to return home if medically necessary (this includes a travelling companion or family member), as well as baggage return and pet return. If your return home is delayed due to a medical emergency, this benefit covers meals and accommodations.

Medical Plan: If you’re only worried about medical emergencies while travelling, this benefit offers all of the medical coverage listed above.

Cancellation Plan: This coverage option reimburses you for insured non-refundable travel expenses (such as hotels or prepaid excursions) if you have to cancel, interrupt, or delay your trip due to a covered reason. This benefit also provides baggage insurance, flight accident coverage and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

We’ve highlighted the key benefits for each coverage option available for the single trip plan when travelling outside of Canada to help you identify which is the best fit for you.

The price of an Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance plan depends on factors such as the cost of your trip, your age and the amount of coverage you choose.

Here are some examples of the cost for Allianz Global Travel Assistance single trip plans for healthy travellers based in Ontario.

Allianz Global Assistance does not offer any optional add-ons, upgrades or endorsements.

Yes. You can buy multi-trip annual insurance if you travel more than once a year for multiple individual trips. Allianz Global Assistance offers an Annual Medical Plan for 10 days or 30 days. These day limits can be extended for any single trip during the year.

This policy does not include trip cancellation and interruption coverage.

Here’s how the prices between single trip and multi-trip insurance compare for the Medical Plan.

Allianz Global Assistance travel assistance is available 24/7, 365 days of the year. Depending on the coverage provided by your insurance policy, emergency services may include:

  • Referral to a nearby medical provider
  • Arrangement for direct billing to medical providers, if possible
  • Monitoring the status of your medical case
  • Communicating with you, your family, physician, travel supplier and/or consulate
  • Coordinating emergency medical transportation to the nearest appropriate medical facility
  • Escorting and transporting home stranded dependent children and/or extended family members or friends while you are in hospital
  • Repatriation to your home province for continuing care once your emergency is stable
  • Return of your remains should you die while on a trip
  • Emergency cash transfers between you and your friend, family member, business or credit card company
  • Emergency message services from or for you
  • Help replacing lost or stolen airline tickets
  • Facilitating contact with a local attorney or consular office if you are arrested or detained, or require legal help

If a medical emergency happens while you are on your trip, you or someone acting on your behalf must notify Allianz Global Assistance within 24 hours of admission to a hospital and before any surgery is performed. If you do not contact Allianz Global Assistance, you will be responsible for paying 20% of the claim. Also, some services, such as private duty nursing or the purchase of medical appliances, require advance approval by Allianz Global Assistance.

Allianz Global Assistance also provides non-emergency trip services, such as:

  • Passport and visa information
  • Health hazards advisory
  • Inoculation requirements
  • Weather information
  • Currency exchange information
  • Consulate and embassy locations

Allianz Global Assistance offers the free TripWise app to help you navigate emergency situations while you are away from home. The app provides access to:

  • Flight status: Track any flight within three days for delays or changes

  • Prescription and first aid terms: Use the medical dictionary with internationally-recognized names of common prescription medication, or translate popular first-aid terms in over 15 languages
  • Country information: Get real-time travel alerts and security information for over 195 destinations

Allianz Global Assistance will not pay medical expenses related to any medical condition that is not stable for a set period of time, either 90 or 180 days (depending on your age), before your coverage takes effect.

A medical condition is considered stable when all of the following are true (with some exceptions):

  • There has been no new treatment
  • There has been no change in treatment or change in treatment frequency or type
  • There have been no signs or symptoms or new diagnosis
  • There have been no test results showing deterioration
  • You have not been hospitalized
  • There has been no referral to a specialist and you are not awaiting surgery or the results of investigations performed by any medical doctor

In addition, Allianz Global Assistance has a number of age- and condition-specific exclusions, including:

For policyholders aged 59 and younger, benefits are not payable due to:

  • An unrepaired aneurysm of 4 cm or greater diagnosed before your departure date

For policyholders aged 60 and older and you were not required to complete a medical questionnaire, benefits are not payable due to:

  • Any medical condition that was not stable during the 180 days before your departure date
  • Any heart condition if you have used nitroglycerine during the 180 days before your departure date
  • Any lung or respiratory condition if you have a prescription for or used home oxygen or prednisone in the 180 days before your departure date

  • Any medical condition that was not stable during the 90 or 180 days before your departure date
  • Any medical condition for which you received treatment at any time before your departure date

There are a number of scenarios not covered by travel insurance and it’s critical to know what not to do before you make a claim. The following are exclusions to all coverages provided by Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance:

  • Your mental or emotional disorder for which there has been new treatment or a change in treatment in the 90 days before departure
  • Your suicide, attempted suicide or self-inflicted injury
  • Loss incurred during an illegal act
  • Intoxication from or chronic use of alcohol or prohibited drugs or other intoxicants
  • Non-compliance with prescribed treatment included misuse of medication
  • Injuries due to training for, competing in or participating in motorized speed contests, stunt activities, high-risk activities, mountain climbing or rock climbing
  • Travelling against the advice of a physician

  • Any act of war, kidnapping, terrorism, riot, strike or civil commotion, unlawful visit or nuclear occurrence

  • You are a Canadian resident who is at least 15 days old but no more than 84 years old.
  • You are not travelling for more than 60 days.
  • You have completed the medical questionnaire and qualified for coverage if you are between ages 60 and 69 and are travelling for more than 30 days, or
  • You have completed the medical questionnaire and qualified for coverage if you are between ages 70 and 84 and are travelling for any length of time.
  • You are insured for benefits under a Canadian government health insurance plan during the entire policy period.

You can file a claim 24/7 by accessing the online Claims Portal where you can create an account, upload and access all documents, identify any documents you may have missed and check the status of your claim. Claims can be submitted online for non-medical benefits including trip cancellation and interruption, flight delay and lost or delayed baggage, as well as out-of-pocket medical expenses.

In the case of a medical emergency, once you contact Allianz Global Assistance (before seeking treatment) and your case file is opened, you have the option to continue completing your claim through the online Claims Portal.

In addition to your claim form, you may be asked to provide:

  • Receipts from commercial organizations for all medical costs incurred and itemized accounts for all medical services
  • Any payments made by any other insurance plans
  • Supporting medical documentation
  • Unused travel documents or tickets
  • A police report or incident number for claims due to theft

Claims must be reported within 30 days of the occurrence and proof of claim must be submitted within 90 days of the occurrence.

Allianz Global Assistance Travel Insurance FAQs

Does allianz global assistance pay for medical costs upfront.

According to the company, Allianz Global Assistance manages a network of over 900,000 medical providers worldwide and will “arrange payment on your behalf whenever possible.”

Does Allianz Global Assistance offer coverage extensions?

Yes. Your coverage is automatically extended for 72 hours starting on the final day of your trip due to a transportation delay beyond your control, as long as your policy has not expired. If you or your travelling companion are hospitalized, your coverage is extended for the period of hospitalization, plus five days after discharge. If your return home is delayed due to a medical emergency that makes you or your travelling companion unfit to travel, your coverage will be extended for up to five days.

If you would like to extend the length of your trip once you have already left home, you can apply for a new term of coverage if your policy hasn’t yet expired, you are in good health and you have no reason to seek treatment. If you have incurred a claim, Allianz will review your file before granting an extension.

Does Allianz Global Assistance require a medical questionnaire?

Yes. A medical questionnaire is required for travellers who are aged 60 to 69 and travelling for more than 30 days, and travellers who are aged 70 to 84 travelling for any length of trip.

Does Allianz Global Assistance have any age restrictions?

Yes. Travellers must be at least 15 days old and under 85 years of age.

When does my coverage with Allianz Global Assistance begin?

In general, if you purchase cancellation coverage, it begins the day you buy your policy and ends the day when you make a claim or leave on your trip. Your interruption coverage, if purchased, begins when you leave home. Your delay coverage begins once an insured risk prevents you from returning home as scheduled.

Can I get a refund with Allianz Global Assistance?

A full refund will be provided for policies that are returned within 10 days of purchase as long as you have not left on your trip and have not made a claim. After the 10-day period, the policy is non-refundable.

Does Allianz Global Assistance offer a free look period?

Yes. Allianz Global Assistance gives you 10 days after purchase to review and cancel your contract if you’re not satisfied with it, as long as you have not left on your trip and have not experienced any event that would cause you to submit a claim.

One of the major hubs of politics, economics, culture and science in Eastern Europe, Moscow thrives as a city abuzz with past, present and future. Russia’s capital and most populous city offers historic sights, nightlife, dining and premium accommodations to travelers seeking to discover the magic of Moscow.

GETTING THERE First thing to do when planning a trip to Moscow is to secure a visa before traveling. Russia’s national carrier is Aeroflot ; most international flights arrive at Sheremetyevo International Airport , about 19 miles from the city center. The Aeroexpress train runs hourly; the 40-minute journey costs about $5. Reserve taxi service in advance and be sure to use a reputable service. Pink Taxi operates exclusively for female travelers with female drivers. For flights into Domodedovo Moscow Airport , train service to Paveletsky Station takes around 40 minutes for about $4.

GETTING AROUND Easily navigable, the highly efficient Moscow Metro offers most signs now in both English and Russian. Trains depart about every 90 seconds, and the Circle Line services the city center. One trip costs around 50 cents; two-, five- and 10-trip tickets are available. Trams and trolley service also run throughout the city; tickets purchased in advance cost around 40 cents and from the driver, about 50 cents.

9–5 Café Pushkin Opened in 1999 in a Baroque mansion, Café Pushkin is a Moscow icon. Start your day with the ultimate power breakfast, ranging from decadent — caviar and Champagne — to porridges, eggs and more. Open day and night, the restaurant also offers live music, free WiFi and a nonsmoking area.

Gusyatnikoff Restaurant For doing business over classic Russian cuisine, consider Gusyatnikoff, offering billiards, smoking rooms, VIP rooms and private meeting spaces in addition to the second-floor dining. The décor and architecture are something special, including restored original parquet flooring from the 19th century.

Mario One of Moscow’s most expensive restaurants, Mario’s Italian food will go a long way to impress important clients. Ingredients arrive from Italy weekly, ensuring the freshest homemade dishes and pasta. The eatery is popular with Moscow power players and politicians.

AFTER 5 Bon Philippe Starck’s design touch in Bon pays homage to vice and Russian opulence — think thrones, graffiti, candelabras and Kalashnikov lamps. Chef Fabio Testa’s Italian fare complements a long list of inventive cocktails before the after-hours nightclub atmosphere comes alive.

Noor Cocktail Bar See and be seen at Noor Bar, Moscow’s after-5 mainstay with a European flair. Located on Tverskaya, find expats, travelers and locals socializing after work over cocktails with a modern twist and enjoying live music. The bar is known for malt whiskey.

Red Square Known not only as the heart and soul of Moscow but also of Russia as a whole, Red Square is a historical center not to be missed. When the working day is done, visit the area for a taste of the fascinating architecture of sites like St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin Wall and the Lenin Mausoleum.
