Greenbrier’s unlimited golf package has a lot to offer. This package is only available from May 1st to October 31st every year and includes complimentary use of their practice facility, golf cart rental to make carrying your golf bag around much easier, a hotel room, and golf every day you are there. There are special offers, group offers, and golf offers as well if you want more than just the standard package.

You have to stay a minimum of two days, which shouldn’t be a problem at all for golf enthusiasts. With this package, you get access to the Meadows Course and the Greenbrier Course. One bonus of selecting Greenbrier for your stay and play package is that you get to use their golf courses every day of your trip. This includes your arrival and departure days.

2. Raven Golf Club, Snowshoe

The Raven Golf Course at Snowshoe Resort was designed by Gary Player and is the perfect option if you’re looking for a challenge. The courses feature steep elevation changes and rock faces for a higher level of difficulty than the average course.

The resort offers an aerial view of the course to allow its players to get an idea of what the course is like. There are 18 holes to play on with a total length of 7045 yards and a par score of 72. If you book their stay and play package, you save 30 percent on your tee times at the Golf Club.

3. Oglebay, Wheeling

If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind golf courses, but also need something to keep your family entertained, then Oglebay offers plenty to keep everyone happy. There are spas, zoos, restaurants, and golfing all in one area.

Oglebay has the Speidel Golf Club which features two special courses; the Arnold Palmer Signature Course and the Robert Trent Jones Sr. Designed Course. The Signature Course offers various skill levels and strategically created holes. The Designed Course is more for those who want a challenge with multiple tee placements.

4. Stonewall Resort, Roanoke

Stonewall Resort also offers a unique twist on golfing called Fling Golf. With the stay and play package, you get accommodations at a lakeside lodge, a round of golf a day, and premium golf balls. The package comes with different prices during the different seasons.

You can opt to rent a club here, but if you’d rather use your own clubs, here’s how to fly with your golf clubs . Make sure you got it covered with a good golf travel bag too.

5. Alpine Lake, Preston County

Alpine Lake has a stay and play package available between April and October . The deal is for one night and two rounds of golf, but you can add on days and golfing as you want. With the cooling breezes, beautiful scenery, and fresh mountain air, the 18-hole course is considered the prettiest spot in West Virginia.

The Alpine Lake Resort has a lot to offer besides just golf. Relax after a day out in the sun with the indoor heated pool or lounge. There’s a restaurant on the property as well and a 150-acre lake where people can fish, boat, or swim as much as they want.

6. Canaan Valley, Tucker County

Canaan Valley is a great place for all sorts of people to visit. In the summer, they offer a wide range of activities from golfing and tennis to wagon rides and soccer. In the winter, they have skiing and snowboarding.

For its golf courses, Canaan Valley offers green, red, gold, white, and blue tees with various ratings and total yards. This allows you to pick a course (or several) that suits your specific needs. With your stay and play package, you get to play on an 18-hole course, breakfast, a pool (when open), Beech Club usage, and a shared cart rental.

7. Pipestem Adventures, Pipestem

Pipestem Resort State Park offers a year-round package. However, if you go in the middle of the golfing season, you have access to the Mountain Creek Lodge. This is a one-of-a-kind lodge that is only available through the aerial tramway.

Pipestem offers an 18-hole championship course designed by Geoffrey Cornish. The area has a stunning view of Bluestone Canyon. If you grow tired of the usual golf, they offer a lot of fun twists. Not only is there disc golf and fling golf, but foot golf as well.

8. Twisted Gun Golf Course, Wharncliffe

With the addition of the Gilbert Lodge, the Twisted Gun Golf Course now offers stay and play packages. This package is a pretty great deal compared to some of the others, as they offer daily rates instead of seasonal rates. If you can catch a good deal, you end up saving a lot of money.

The course is fairly isolated, which allows for some stunning views while you’re golfing. Because of the unique rates and the fact that this course doesn’t promote itself much, the area usually isn’t crowded. It’s a fairly difficult golf course that lets you test out your true skills on the green.

9. Mid-Atlantic Golf Getaways

As the name suggests, the Mid-Atlantic Golf Getaways group offers more packages than just the ones in West Virginia. They also offer options in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Because the company isn’t officially registered with any resort, they let you adjust your stay and play package until you have a dream golfing vacation.

For West Virginia, they focus on the Eastern Panhandle and offer a three-day, two-night package. The packages focus on Cacapon Resort State Park, Locust Hill Golf Course, and The Woods. It’s worth noting that since Golf Getaways doesn’t work directly with the resorts, the accommodations are usually places like Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn.

At Stonewall Resort, we pride ourselves on the natural beauty of our course, designed by renowned golf architect Arnold Palmer. The course is challenging yet enjoyable, and we have taken great care to maintain its pristine condition.

I am excited to announce that we have a new fleet of 65 Club Car Golf Carts. They feature onboard GPS units, beverage coolers, and ball/club washers. This means that you will have access to the latest technology to help you navigate the course, refreshing beverages, and clean golf clubs close at hand.

In addition to the new golf carts, nearly a mile of our golf course cart paths have been re-paved. This will ensure that your ride around the course is smooth and comfortable. We will again feature golf cart tours of the course in 2023.

Whether you are a seasoned golfer or just starting out, our team is dedicated to ensuring that your visit to Stonewall Resort is unforgettable. We offer a range of amenities to enhance your golfing experience, including a well-stocked pro shop, excellent practice opportunities, and top-notch dining options. We also offer specialized opportunities for the novice golfer, including lessons, and Fling Golf for those who may want to try something different.

In 2023 we welcomed several new team members, including Jim Welling, Golf Course Superintendent, and Nathan Rexroad, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always eager to assist you in any way possible. We believe that every guest should feel like a VIP, and we strive to make that a reality for everyone who visits our course.

Locust Hill Golf Course invites you to historic Charles Town, West Virginia for 18 holes of phenomenal golf. We are just over a beautiful hour drive from the Baltimore/D.C. beltway. One half hour from Winchester and Leesburg, Virginia, as well as, Hagerstown and Frederick, Maryland. You will be able to drive here, play a memorable round of golf, and drive home in less time than it takes to play 18 holes on many of the public facilities in the metropolitan areas.

Four sets of tees on every hole offer golfing at its best for all skill levels. Each tee offers challenges across the 35 acres of lakes, ponds, and streams, which come into play on 11 of the 18 holes. Numerous bunkers and deceiving, undulating greens all amidst what nature and time have provided; scenery and natural beauty seldom found anywhere.

But, almost upstaging our beautiful and challenging golf course, is its environment. The Blue Ridge Mountains form a breathtaking backdrop to Locust Hill. These mountains are first experienced as majestic rolling hills while you approach Locust Hill from any direction. The Blue Ridge Mountains have a mystique all their own. On even the clearest of days you may notice a bluish-gray haze along their tops. Folklore has it, this is a residual effect from the Civil War.

Planning for your Capon getaway is simple!  Our all-inclusive per-person rates cover lodging, three all-you-can-eat meals per day (and snacks too!), and a wide variety of programs and activities for guests of all ages. In, 2023, prices for adults ranged from $114/night to $207/night. There is no charge for children under the age of 5, and prices for older children range from $46/night to $101/night.

What truly makes Capon Springs different from other resorts are all the “extras” that you just won’t find anywhere else. Operated by multiple generations of the same family, you are welcomed into a warm and caring atmosphere where everything is based on the honor system.   The set-menu and meal times mean all you have to do is show up when the bell rings!

11/9/2023  The Capon course is now closed for the winter.  Check back in March to find out when it will be open again for day only play.

The regular Golf Course at Capon Springs and Farms is a nine-hole regulation course with tees suited for golfers of all abilities. The well-groomed layout is a par 34 which measures 2,888 yards from the back tees and features tree lined fairways with no water hazards on the course.

Capon Springs and Farms also has a nine-hole par 3 course, “The Prep Course” where you can bone up on your short game and enjoy a fun game of golf. The holes on The Prep Course measure 30 to 85 yards in length with small, relatively flat greens for your enjoyment.

Golf carts can be rented for daily or weekly use, while loaner clubs, pull carts, bags and balls are all available free of charge.

Capon Springs and Farms offer golfers two very distinct golf courses for your enjoyment.

In 2016, Fling Golf was introduced to Capon Springs. Fling Golf is a hybrid sport combining lacrosse and golf and is a family friendly activity that involves “flinging” a regular golf ball with a fling stick (available for use at no cost). Fling Golf may be played on either course, anytime, right alongside regular golfers. In 2023, Capon’s course hosted the first ever World League FlingGolf event with the Potomac Highland Regional.  A bigger event is scheduled for 2024.
