Jordan's Way continues national tour

Oct. 31—Giving a voice to the voiceless, Jordan's Way, will mark the next stop on its 50-state tour as it helps raise funds for local animal shelters and rescues across the country. Featured on media outlets such as the Hallmark Channel, PeopleTV, numerous news stations across the United States and on social media platforms including The Dodo.

Each month, the Jordan's Way team, led by founder, Kris Rotonda, visit two shelters/rescues per day during each 10-day tour. They conduct a 3-hour LIVE Facebook fundraiser that features games, challenges, rescue animals, volunteers, and other festivities. Since January 2021, Jordan's Way has helped local groups raise over $4 million and counting.

Rotonda and team will be making two trips to Texas to ensure they are visiting and highlighting as many shelters and rescues in Texas as possible. Here is a list scheduled for Trip One:

>> Rescuers Without Borders, The Yamac House; Goldsmith, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

>> Dog Rescue R Us, Odessa, Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

>> Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bully Beds Inc., Andrews.

>> Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. West Texsa Diamonds in the Ruff, Kermit.

Born out of Rotonda's love for his since-passed rescue, Jordan, who spent 3 1/2 years overlooked in a shelter — Jordan's Way was formed with a goal to honor her life.

"No animal should have to spend their life in a shelter, and I'm passionate to highlight and support the many organizations across our country who work relentlessly to ensure these pets find loving homes, despite their age, breed, or health issues," said Rotonda. "Each stop on the Jordan's Way tour offers the ability to bring awareness to the importance of the saying "Adopt, Don't Shop" to an entirely new community".

The mission of Jordan's Way is to share meaningful animal welfare stories that inspire people to rescue and provide a "fur-ever" home to a pet in need. Through the organization's community outreach, fundraising efforts, and animal advocacy, Jordan's Way creates a buzz around shelters that builds a compassionate community of pet parents willing to provide permanent homes to homeless animals. Jordan’s Way makes its way through Clarke County on 50 state national tour

C LARKE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - Jordan’s Way stopped by Creature Comforts of Clarke County for a livestream fundraiser event, to help raise much needed money for the animal shelter and rescue as part of a 50-state national tour.

People of the Clarke County area and volunteers of Creature Comforts got the opportunity to enjoy a night filled with loving on the animals, while playing fun games, getting involved in some unique challenges, and most of all, donate to the animals.

Founder of Jordan’s Way, Kris Rotonda said this is a way to give back to animal shelters, as he met his life-long best friend, Jordan, in a shelter 11 years ago.

“We’ve raised over $8 million in the last four years doing this so you’ll see during the live feed a lot of stuff of giving back to the dogs. I always say it’s a Sarah McLachlan side where it’s like they’re donating for pupa chinos, hot dogs, we call that wiener mania, and then of course the personal side. We got pies to the face, people shaving their heads today. We got tortilla slaps, a bunch of stuff that come in from both ideas that pull out the dogs, pull out the personal side. But yes, our fundraisers are really high energy. We go for three hours. I do not stop talking, I swear,” said Rotonda.

Workers, volunteers and members of the community had a wonderful time taking a pie to the face, tortilla slapping each other and showing love to the dogs.

Jordan’s Way continues its tour Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m at the Lauderdale County Animal Shelter located in Marion, Miss.

Path of Hope Rescue has partnered with another non-profit organization, Jordan’s Way and their 50 State Tour, for a four-hour live fundraiser event on social media

Path of Hope Rescue

Submitted by  Path of Hope Rescue

L ocal Dog Rescue, Path of Hope Rescue, partnering with Jordan’s Way, will be holding a Live Fundraiser Event on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 6 to 10 p.m. The Fundraiser will be streamed on Facebook LIVE . The Rescue and Jordan’s Way will be looking to raise awareness and funds to help with the Rescue’s mission of rescuing pregnant dogs and puppies from high kill shelters in Texas and transporting them to the Spokane area. Additional information can be found on Path of Hope Rescue’s Facebook page.

Puppies are hard to find in local animal shelters and Path of Hope Rescue offers the Spokane and Pacific Northwest region an opportunity to rescue a puppy that would have otherwise been euthanized. Puppies are rescued from Texas, a state experiencing massive overpopulation, resulting in approximately 263 dogs being euthanized every day.

“The Spokane area has embraced our mission wholeheartedly. Last year we adopted over 400 mommas and puppies that would have been euthanized or were living as strays in Houston,” says Founder, Caitlin Knight. “And now we need to find the people to sustain that growth.”

About Path of Hope Rescue

Path of Hope Rescue is a pregnant dog and puppy Rescue operating out of Spokane, Washington. Dogs are transported from Houston, Texas to Spokane, Washington where they are fostered and adopted out.

To donate see the Path of Hope’s  Fundraiser Facebook Page .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

jordan's way 50 state tour

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Tens of millions of Americans will have spent the day staring at a total solar eclipse, and at least a few of them may become worried that they inadvertently damaged their eyes.

But experts say there's no need to panic — the vast majority of eclipse viewers are probably fine. And even if somebody did strain their eyes, the effects could be temporary.

During the 2017 total solar eclipse it's estimated that 150 million Americans viewed the event. There were around 100 documented cases of eye damage across all of America and Canada, according to Ralph Chou, an expert on eclipse eye safety with the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Far more people turned up in emergency rooms worried that they'd damaged their eyes. Many complained of watery eyes or blurred vision, but in most cases they were fine, according to Avnish Deobhakta, an ophthalmologist at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, one of the largest eye hospitals in the nation.

The reason it's hard to do real damage is simple — the human eye has evolved to avoid staring directly at the sun.

"It's so bright that we're not actually capable of looking at it without either tearing or sort of not really feeling comfortable staring at this ball of light," Deobhakta says.

Here's What It Looks Like When You Fry Your Eye In An Eclipse

Shots - Health News

Here's what it looks like when you fry your eye in an eclipse.

In the rare case that someone does damage their eyes, that damage usually shows up as a blurry spot in the field of vision , hours or up to a day after watching the eclipse. In about half of cases, the problem fixes itself, but permanent damage can sometimes occur.

Anticipating the post-eclipse ocular anxiety, at least one eye clinic in Buffalo, N.Y., is offering free eye checks immediately after the eclipse on April 8.

It's always a good idea to get your eyes checked, whether or not there's an eclipse. So if you're worried at all, go ahead and use the opportunity to schedule your annual exam.
