Juli, dessen Finale sich an der Grenze zu Schleswig-Holstein abspielt, in Sonderborg an der Flensburger Förde.

176 der weltbesten Radprofis aus 22 Mannschaften gehen in diesem Jahr bei der Tour de France an den Start, darunter das deutsche Team BORA – hansgrohe, das gerade den Sieger des Giro d’Italia stellte.

Bereits die erste Woche der Tour de France hat es in sich, wenn die Fahrer an der französischen Kanalküste im Wind und auf den gefürchteten Pflastern des Klassikers Paris-Roubaix um das Gelbe Trikot kämpfen. Hier kann die Tour nicht gewonnen, aber schon verloren werden. Anschließend warten die Vogesen mit dem ruppigen Schlussanstieg auf die Planche des Belles Filles, verschärft durch eine Schotterpassage und zwischenzeitlich 24 Prozent Steigung. Und weiter geht es in der abwechslungsreichen Landschaft Frankreichs bis zum Einzelzeitfahren am Vorabend der Schlussetappe in Rocamadour, einem der schönsten Orte Frankreichs und UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.

Juni in der ARD Mediathek) und in einem Dokumentarfilm im Ersten (Samstag, 2. Juli, circa 17.20 Uhr) auf das von Triumphen und tiefen Abstürzen geprägte Leben Jan Ullrichs. Tour de France Femmes: ab 24. Juli

In den achtziger Jahren unter dem Namen „Grand Boucle Feminine“ zwischen 1984 und 1989 als wenig erfolgreicher Versuch gestartet, 2009 mit einem neuerlichen Versuch gescheitert, soll nun der Durchbruch für den Frauenradsport auf höchstem Niveau gelingen.

Die Tour de France Femmes startet am Schlusstag der Tour der Männer, am Sonntag, 24. Juli, vor einer gewaltigen und stimmungsvollen Zuschauerkulisse. Acht Etappen lang geht es dann Richtung Osten, durch die Champagne bis in die Vogesen, wo nach insgesamt 1.028 Kilometern ein schweres und spektakuläres Finale hinauf zur Planche des Belles Filles den Abschluss bildet. Mit dem ehemaligen Radstar Marion Rousse wurde eine charismatische Tourdirektorin installiert.

The herculean GC battle Tour de France between leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and second-placed Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) ended on stage 16 and 17 with the Dane first delivering a stunning blow in the time trial before a knockout punch on the Col de la Loze.

Vingegaard has a comfortable lead in the Tour de France GC standings of 7:29 on Pogačar, winner of stage 20 , and 10:56 on the Slovenian's teammate Adam Yates.

The penultimate stage delivered the final skirmish for riders fighting to move up in the top 10 of the general classification. Simon Yates  (Jayco-AlUla) moved up to fourth overall while Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) lost one spot and is now in fifth place.  Meanwhile, Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) sealed the KOM classification.

All eyes now turn to the sprinters whose biggest day of the year is the finish on the Champs Elysées in Paris.

The long finishing road on Paris's most famous avenue has long played host to the final Tour and was last won by Jasper Philipsen, holder of the green jersey, who will be the favourite for the day.

The Tour de France is alive! Here's how you can watch all the action unfold with Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar locked in another thrilling battle for the yellow jersey. Vingegaard is seeking to defend his title, while the Slovenian looking to win a third Tour crown. Mark Cavendish may have crashed out, but there are still plenty of intriguing storylines as we head into the second week.

Crossmediale Berichterstattung Tour de France und Tour de France Femmes auch 2024 live in der ARD

Die ARD wird auch 2024 umfangreich von der Tour de France berichten.

SportA, die Sportrechteagentur von ARD und ZDF, hat sich mit der Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) über eine entsprechende Vereinbarung verständigt.

Damit setzt die ARD erneut auf die Live-Berichterstattung vom größten Radrennen der Welt und sieht vom 29. Juni bis zum 21. Juli 2024 eine tägliche Live-Übertragung über alle Verbreitungswege vor. Neben der Tour de France ist auch die Tour de France Femmes Bestandteil der Vereinbarung. Auch vom Radrennen der Frauen wird die ARD täglich vom 12. bis 18. August 2024 im Rahmen von Live-Übertragungen im Ersten und in der ARD Mediathek berichten. Federführer innerhalb der ARD für die Tour de France ist wie bisher der Saarländische Rundfunk (SR).

Die dritte Ausgabe der Tour de France Femmes beginnt erstmals im Ausland, in den Niederlanden. Der Zielort verspricht Spektakel. mehr

Hochwertige und crossmediale Berichterstattung

"Die Tour de France mit ihrem spannenden Kampf um Etappensiege und um das gelbe Trikot steht für großen Sport und ebenso große Emotionen" , so SR-Intendant Martin Grasmück: "Sowohl bei der Tour de France der Männer als auch bei der Tour de France der Frauen wird es unter SR-Federführung wieder eine hochwertige crossmediale Berichterstattung im Fernsehen, im Hörfunk und im Netz geben - natürlich mit kritischem Blick, den wichtigen Hintergrund-Infos und den fachlichen Einschätzungen unserer radsporterfahrenen Journalistinnen und Journalisten."

Deutschland Tour ebenfalls im Programm

Auch die Deutschland Tour rund einen Monat später wird die ARD in gewohntem Umfang abbilden: ARD und ZDF haben hier erneut gemeinsam umfassende Live- und Nachverwertungsrechte von der ASO erworben. Bei dem Radrennen, das vom 21. bis 25. August 2024 in Deutschland stattfindet, übernimmt ebenfalls wieder der SR die ARD-Federführung.

Das ZDF berichtet live über die erste Etappe der Deutschland-Tour von Schweinfurt nach Heilbronn sowie über die dritte Etappe von Schwäbisch Gmünd bis Villingen-Schwenningen. Die ARD sendet live von der zweiten Etappe (Heilbronn - Schwäbisch Gmünd) und von der Schluss-Etappe von Annweiler am Trifels mit Ziel in Saarbrücken.
