Queen mother Dr. Maria Mutagamba
After more than 10 years of silence, MTU was awakened by our Patron and Founder Hon. Dr. Maria Mutagamba, with the idea to promote tourism under her slogan “Tourism Is Everybody’s Business”. It is said teach a girl and you teach a nation, we say promote tourism with a girl and the nation will fall in love with tourism. MTU with its team scours the country for girls with beauty and brains to be Tourism Ambassadors and promote tourism and not in only Uganda but across the globe. Uganda has so much to showcase from flora, fauna, scenery, culture and so much more and sadly it has been a well kept secret. Speke once called Uganda, “The Pearl of Africa!” We agree with him and we say, “Let the Pearl Shine”. So annually, regional pageants are held to pick the best and the brightest that will compete in the National Competition so that we can represent and showcase Uganda internationally.
To promote, empower and celebrate the role of women in promoting Uganda’s Tourism Industry through pageantry.
To promote, honor and advance the position of women in promoting Uganda’s Tourism destinations that offer a wide range of unique and adventurous Tourism experiences both locally and internationally.
Our Objectives
- To showcase the beauty of our country through pageantry to Uganda and the rest of the world.
- To create a platform where the youth in Uganda can acquire knowledge about Tourism as one of the major sources of revenue for the country.
- To nurture the youth to grow with confidence, goal-setting, public speaking, communication skills and self-discipline.
- To promote and encourage inter-cultural exchange among the youth through using the Miss Tourism platform.
- To help build and create a sustainable Tourism Sector.
Miss Tourism Uganda is broken down into national and regional clusters to effectively reach the grassroots of tourism.
