Poisonâs Bret Michaels also added: âThere are not enough words to thank the three generations of fans for making this such an exciting, record breaking, historical tour with the fastest sell outs in history at these stadiums.â
Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock ânâ roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blew the door to the boysâ club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.” With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs’ LA punk masterpiece âGI.â Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kennyâs Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue touring the globe with headlining shows alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, and Foo Fighters. After two COVID-19 postponements, the group will return to the road in summer 2022 for The Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison. ‘Bad Reputation,’ a documentary about Jett’s life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and is now available for streaming.
âWe are so excited to be back out on the road! We missed doing what we love most and canât wait to see the fans out there again!â said Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
Emerging rock band Classless Act, signed to Better Noise Music, is set to open the tour. With the release of their single âGive It To Meâ in 2021, the band has already received critical praise from the likes of rock media including SPIN, Loudwire, and more. Mötley CrĂŒeâs Tommy Lee was an early follower of the band and is excited to have them join him and his bandmates on the road, saying, “I remember when we went out with Ozzy in 1984 and how it was an insane game changer!! We literally blew up after having that opportunity to play live in front of 20,000 people every f***ing night! Since then, weâve always felt it was important to help new bands; whether it was Guns N Roses, Skid Row or so many others. This summer weâre gonna help out Classless Act.”

Poison is an American glam metal band formed by Bret Michaels, Matt Smith, Bobby Dall, and Rikki Rockett, from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, U.S.
Originally performing under the moniker Paris in their hometown of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, the band moved to Los Angeles, California in 1984 and changed their name to Poison. Lead singer Bret Michaels, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett, held auditions for a lead guitarist and soon after invited C.C. Deville to fill the role. Poison then developed a knack for creatively and thoroughly promoting their gigs and soon garnered a sizeable following, which led the band to sign with Enigma Records in 1986.
The same year Poison released their breakthrough album âLook What the Cat Dragged Inâ which introduced the bandâs brand of glamorous metal androgyny. Aided by the single âTalk Dirty to Meâ and âI Wonât Forget Youâ, the album went on to sell over two million copies. With the release of their sophomore album âOpen Up & SayâŠAhhh!â Poison were propelled to the level of super-stardom topped only by the likes of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. The album spawned the hits âFallen Angelâ, âNothinâ But a Good Timeâ and the bandâs first No. One Hit, âEvery Rose Has Its Thornâ.
The release of their subsequent album âFlesh and Bloodâ and resulting tour however marked a decline for the band. After the live album âSwallow This Liveâ in 1991, Poison parted ways with C.C. Deville who was replaced by the 21 year old Richie Kotzen. The new guitarist only stayed for one album, however, 1993âs âNative Tongueâ after it was revealed he had begun an illicit relationship with drummer Rockettâs fiancĂ©. A compilation album entitled âGreatest Hits: 1986-1996â was issued in 1996, shortly after which Deville returned to the group and Poison embarked on a successful arena reunion tour of 1999.
âCrack a Smileâ was released in 2000, followed by âPower to the Peopleâ a mix of new and live songs from the reunion tour. Following the release of the disappointing âHollyweirdâ in 2002, Deville appeared in VH1âs âThe Surreal Lifeâ and Michaels hosted his own dating show âRock of Love with Bret Michaelsâ. It wasnât until 2006 that Poison reconvened to celebrate their 20th anniversary, with a nationwide tour and a new greatest hits box-set collection. The album âThe Best of Posion: 20 Years of Rockâ, aided by Michaelsâ new reality TV status, rose to the Top 20 of the Billboard 200, as did its successor âPoisonâd!â in 2007.
Live reviews
Pop Evil, Cheap Trick & Poison put on an absolutely amazing show but I am completely disenchanted with the promoters, venue and ticket sellers.
I purchased 200 level seats in row L @ $135/ticket for my wife and I via an American Express Presale, months in advance of the show.
While waiting for the gates to open at Ontario Place/Budweiser Stage, the usual assortment of scalpers were hanging around the front gates when we heard one of them offering half-price tickets to the show. I pulled out my phone and checked Live Nation and Ticketmaster's web sites to find that they were offering, amongst others, tickets two rows in front of our seats for $83.75. These were not resale tickets, and there were several of them.
To make matters worse, while standing in line at one of the food trucks, I overheard several people saying how fortunate they were that their $20 lawn tickets had been upgraded for FREE and yup....they were sitting two rows in front of us when the show started.
Apparently the show had not sold well, so the venue decided to close the lawn area and give everyone with $20 lawn tickets a free upgrade. Lucky for them, but what about those of us who paid full price for the tickets months in advance? Should we not have been offered a partial refund, or at the very least a gift certificate?
I understand that Labatt's and Live Nation (who also happens to own Ticketmaster) own the venue which was recently renamed from Molson Amphitheatre to Budweiser Stage and this was certainly not our first trip to this venue, but it was our first trip to the venue under it's new name.
As I said when I started this, we LOVED the show he bands put on, but if the promoters/venue/ticket sellers are going to continue this practice of shafting those of us who purchase tickets early, we will definitely thing twice before buying tickets to other shows.
We've typically attend 3-5 shows each summer and have definitely noticed a drop in attendance at most shows over the last couple of years. Despite the fact that music lovers will pay dearly to see their favourite bands, there comes a point where there are only so many dollars to go around. I realize that many bands demand higher compensation when touring, but perhaps the drop in attendance is directly related to the ticket prices for shows of late.
There have been several shows that we would love to have seen, but not even folks like us who have been life-long fans of certain bands can't afford $200-$300 for a ticket to see a band who's last hit record was 20-30 years ago.
If the venue's aren't selling out, maybe the ticket prices are too high......
Cheap Trick is my wife's all time favourite band and we've seen them every year for the past 20 years when they've passed through town, but for the price we paid this year, and then to find out that had we waited until the last minute, or purchased the cheap lawn seats and gotten a free upgrade to better seats, we definitely feel cheated this year and will almost certainly take our chances by waiting until the day of, or buying cheap lawn seats if they come through town again next year. Who knows, we may actually end up with better seats than someone else who shows their support for a band by buying tickets early...

If thereâs such a thing as glam metal standards, does it really get any more classic than âEvery Rose Has Its Thornâ? Poison have certainly earned themselves a place amongst the genuine titans of the genre, and like a handful of their contemporaries (Iâm looking at you, Motley Crue), theyâve defied years of debauchery and excess and remain a going concern today. More recently, though, thereâs every chance that the wider public are more familiar with frontman Bret Michaels for the slew of appearances that heâs made on reality TV shows - he won the third series of Celebrity Apprentice - or his recent health issues that put his life on the line and the bandâs future in serious doubt. Happily, though, Michaels recovered, and Poison hit the road in the summer of 2011 for a tour with the Crue, as well as New York Dolls. The sets were typically silly affairs - big hair, big guitar solos and big, big volume and had Michaels rolling back the years, showcasing a voice thatâs stood up remarkably well to the ravages of a rock nâ roll lifestyle. The band have yet to make it back to the UK since Michaelsâ recovery, but the fact that Motley Crue still play arenas over here should demonstrate that thereâs plenty of demand for this kind of show; it can only be a matter of time.
American rock outfit Poison really do set the bar high in the field of glam metal. Innovators of their time, the band who have been working for over thirty years amassed a huge following during their heyday and many of those fans still attend their shows to this day.
Having achieved a great deal of commercial success in the 80's and 90's, the band now tends to play a setlist featuring a selection of their hits as well as their own personal favourite material to showcase their abilities. The gig sways between these two mentalities, the crowd are loudly singing along to 'Unskinny Bop' before clapping along intently to coax on the musicians as they perform complex guitar and drum solos.
The biggest cheer of the evening is reserved for the encore of 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn' and 'Nothing But A Good Time' which both include extended instrumentals and those recognisable anthemic choruses. Despite the band no longer being a frequenter of the charts, their iconic glam rock status remains unchallenged.

Awesome show!! I have seen a lot of concerts from 1980 forward, in all this time I have never seen a frontman so full of energy and get the crowd into the show the way Bret Michaels did! He is by far the best frontman I have seen. The band sounded great and the lighting show was fantastic. Tesla opened the show and the crowd remained sitting most of the show but when Bret came on stage everyone was standing and remained so all night. All in all it was a magnificent high energy show and I would go again!
The Poison,Cheap Trick & Pop Evil NJ show was amazing. They were all energetic and had great stage presence. All front men were great!Since this is a Poison review, I give them a 100%. From the opening flames, commentary, tribute dancing and singing.. til the very end, completely impressed. Hope they will continue to rock for many more years to come!
This band is amazing. I am a true fan and will always be. Win I was in high school back in 1989 my best friend had me listen to them. Since then he has past away. Your songs bring him back for just a short while. Thank you for this great gift that you share with us. Your friend and brother. Shane Cynova.
Iâm so happy that Poison came back to UTAH, 5/22/18 @ USANA! We had so much fun. We love you guys so much. Please come back soon. Thank you so much USANA! Please keep the bands coming and thank you for reasonable prices. Safe Travels and Rock On..
Great as always. 4th time seeing them. Bret never disappoints. And hearing him talk about veterans and people serving in the military really touches my heart, as my son is on his third deployment for the Air Force.

Poison Play First Show in Four Years at Stadium Tour: Set List, Video
Poison helped launch the long-delayed Stadium Tour — an all-star event also featuring Motley Crue , Def Leppard and Joan Jett — Thursday in Atlanta, marking the band’s first concert in nearly four years .
They started their set with "Look What the Cat Dragged In," the title track from the Bret Michaels -fronted group's 1986 debut album . From there, the hits kept coming, with Poison barely catching their collective breath as they rolled from one song into the next. Highlights included renditions of such classic tunes as "Talk Dirty to Me," "Your Mama Don't Dance," "Unskinny Bop," "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Nothin' But a Good Time."
Perhaps the biggest moment came roughly halfway through Poison's set. Guitarist C.C. DeVille delivered an incendiary solo while covering Van Halen 's famous instrumental tune "Eruption," sending the crowd into a frenzy.
See Poison's full set list and fan-shot video below.
The Stadium Tour was originally booked for summer 2020 but was postponed and then postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The trek continues June 18 in Miami and currently wraps Sept. 9 in Las Vegas.
Poison's most recent studio album, 2007’s Poison’d! , featured cover versions of songs by David Bowie , Sweet , Alice Cooper , Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers , the Who and the Rolling Stones , among others. Since then, Michaels has largely focused on his solo career, including his 2020 memoir , Bret Michaels: Auto-Scrap-ography Volume 1: My Life in Pictures & Stories .

Setlists – Stadium Tour Kickoff With Motley Crue, Def Leppard + Poison
Motley Crue and Def Leppard kicked off the " Stadium Tour " with Poison , Joan Jett and Classless Act on Thursday (June 16) in Atlanta. Tickets for the upcoming shows are on sale here , and the bands' setlists from the first concert are now available — see below.
The Stadium Tour, announced in 2019 by Motley Crue and Def Leppard, was initially to take place in 2020. It was moved to 2021 after COVID-19 emerged, and again to this year because of the pandemic .
Now, however, the tour's rockin' along, but Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee was replaced partway through their set due to an injury he sustained prior to the tour's start. With four broken ribs, he powered through five songs before being replaced by Ozzy Osbourne drummer Tommy Clufetos . Lee insists he'll play as many songs as he can each night before relinquishing the kit to Clufetos as the tour continues.

It's currently unknown how much the sets will change as the tour continues across America. But fans can peruse each act's songs from opening night. Are any missing that you want to hear on the Stadium Tour?
Last year, Crue singer Vince Neil returned to performing after falling and breaking bones at a solo show. The L.A. glam icons reportedly sold the rights to their song catalog for $150 million around the same time. Their latest material is four recordings they contributed to the soundtrack of their 2019 biopic .
This month, Def Leppard announced signature gin and issued a mobile matching game for iOS and Android called Def Leppard - Let's Rock It! Last month, the English hard rockers released Diamond Star Halos , the first Def Leppard studio album since 2015 .

BRET MICHAELS: POISON Will 'Do Another Big Stadium And Arena Tour In 2025'
During a February 25 question-and-answer session aboard the Rock Legends Cruise XI , Bret Michaels spoke about POISON 's plans to regroup for more shows following the band's 2022 participation in "The Stadium Tour" alongside MĂTLEY CRĂE , DEF LEPPARD and Joan Jett . he said: "When we go back, I think in 2025, it's always been, to me, all-original POISON . We'll have C.C [ DeVille , guitar] and Bobby [ Dall , bass] and Rikki [ Rockett , drums] and myself and go do another big stadium tour and arena tour in 2025."
Regarding his motivation for going back out on the road with POISON after spending most of his time touring with his solo band, Bret said: "We've known each other since we've been in junior high school⊠I wouldn't be here without Bobby or Rikki or C.C. And then, as you go along, we've been together a long time â still great friends. If anyone saw 'The Stadium Tour' , that was a party. And when you're out there with that DEF LEPPARD and MĂTLEY and Joan , you're talking A-plus awesomeness. And we just came out and brought it.
"For me, what it is, we do about a couple of years solo, and then we'll go out and do 35 or 40 dates with POISON ," he explained. "And we set it up, we schedule it."
POISON 's long-delayed North American trek with DEF LEPPARD , MĂTLEY CRĂE and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally planned for 2020 and later moved to 2021 and then to 2022.
In 2018, POISON completed the "Nothin' But A Good Time" tour with CHEAP TRICK and POP EVIL .
POISON 's last album of new material was 2002's "Hollyweird" . An album of covers, "Poison'd" , followed in 2007.
Back in 2018, Dall said that POISON "should" be making a new studio album but claimed that he didn't know if it would happen. "I'm not going to bullshit you and say there's any [new music] in the process [of being made]," he told All That Shreds . "Would I like there to be? Yes. But, it's a matter of everyone having the time. Everybody in the band has other commitments. Some members have younger children than others. So between those two issues, it's difficult, and, you know, [there are] health issues as we get older. Should we be making a new record? Yes, definitely. But will it happen? I don't know."
In a 2017 interview, Rikki acknowledged that part of the reason the band hasn't been motivated to work on new music has been the fact that fans rarely show interest in hearing fresh material performed live when classic rock groups go on tour. "We could write the second coming of 'Talk Dirty To Me' , and I don't know if people wanna hear it or not, and that's a frustrating thing; it really is," he said. " AEROSMITH was able to do it, but not everybody is. I mean, even THE ROLLING STONES have had problems with that in the last few years. So⊠I don't know. But I do think it's important to stay viable. For the 'ĂŒber fans,' it's always a really, really good thing. And that's what you do it for â you do it for you, you do it for the real fans, the real true fans."
More recently, Rockett admitted that he and other members of POISON harbored some resentment toward Michaels , whose frequent tours as a solo artist caused the band to take a five-year break from the road.
"I think we need to get away from each other and do other things, but at the same time, I think he spent a little too much time away," Rockett said. "There's definitely some resentment, but not resentment like I want him to fail. I want him to do good. I just want POISON to be important too, and I would like [him] to put a little more energy into POISON ."

Boy George is leaving Broadway and returning to the road.
The ’80s icon, who ends his three-month run as bold club owner Harold Zidler in the Tony Award-winning musical “Moulin Rouge!” on May 12, announced he’s embarking on a co-headlining tour with Squeeze this August and September.
Near the end of their 20-concert nationwide run, the duo will drop into Atlantic City’s Tropicana Showroom on Saturday, Sept. 14 and New York City’s Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
According to American Songwriter , the groups “will alternate closing sets for the tour.”
Can’t wait to sing along to “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” and “Tempted” at the same show this summer?
If that’s the case, tickets can be picked up for all Boy George and Squeeze shows as soon as today on sites like Vivid Seats. The official on-sale is Friday, May 3.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

“Moulin Rouge!” on Broadway
As noted above, Boy George is wrapping up his “Moulin Rouge!” run on May 12.

Boy George new music
This year, Boy George dropped a pair of singles.
First up, was his snazzy, disco-y “Electric Energy” collaboration with Nile Rodgers and Ariana DeBose for the film “Argylle.”
Then, on April 5, he released the anthemic “Them There Crows,” complete with beat drops and gnarly guitar riffs.
Both tracks can be found here .
Squeeze new music
Most recently, Squeeze put out a pair of “Best of Squeeze” live albums.
However, we were most taken with their quirky 2022 EP “Food For Thought.”
Make sure to check out the funky “The Very First Dance” and hard-charging “Electric Trains,” if you haven’t listened to the band lately; these tracks are a welcome addition to their impressive canon.
You can hear “Food For Thought” in its entirety here .

Things to do | squeeze and boy george tour coming to spac; 10th berks poet laureate named [spotlight], plus more local arts and culture news..
In 1978, Squeeze blasted to the forefront of the U.K. music scene at the height of the punk revolution. With songwriting hooks and melodies that harkened back to the ’60s British Invasion, their groundbreaking debut album on A&M Records featured “Take Me I’m Yours,” followed by a cadre of U.K. hits, including “Cool for Cats,” “Up the Junction,” “Pulling Mussels From a Shell,” “Black Coffee in Bed” and “Labeled With Love.”
The band made an indelible mark on the U.S. in 1981 with the release of their classic hits “Tempted,” “Hourglass” and “853-5937” from “East Side Story.”
Boy George, who catapulted to fame in the 1980s as frontman for Culture Club, is wrapping up a run as impresario Harold Zidler in the Broadway production of “Moulin Rouge!” on May 12. Culture Club sold over 150 million records worldwide and is best known for their songs “Karma Chameleon,” “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” and “Church of the Poison Mind.”
In addition, three concerts have been added to the schedule at Santander Arena: Bachata Festival featuring Zacarias Ferreira, Luis Vargas, Joe Veras and Judy Santos on June 29; country rock singer Brantley Gilbert’s “Off the Rails Tour” with special guests Adam Calhoun and Demun Jones on Sept. 20; and Mexican singer-songwriter Carin Leon’s “Boca Chueca Tour” on Sept. 27.

More than 100 poetry lovers packed into Reading City Council Chambers on April 26 to witness the crowning of Adrian Perez-Roman, also known on stage as Apito, as the 10th Poet Laureate of Berks County. He also made history, becoming the first Puerto Rican to hold the honor.
Apito snatched the title and the $1,000 cash prize, after four rounds of fierce competition from his fellow finalists: Aries Franklin Ortiz, also known as The Poet Smiley; John Zabala, also known as Soul Papi; and Madelyne Snader.
The contest was conducted by community engagement nonprofit Barrio Alegria, and the four finalists were selected out of more than 20 written and recorded manuscripts from poets all over Berks.
Perez-Roman, 31, said he was taken aback by the victory that took place in front of a lively and supportive audience.
“I was just shocked,” Perez-Roman, of Reading, said. “You write poetry because you love to do it, you do it because you want to be heard, you do it to connect with people. And when you are used to losses and being overlooked, to be seen by a crowd — it shows me to believe in yourself and have faith in yourself and fully accept yourself.”
Judging for the evening was conducted by published author and Reading native David Nazario, arts activist and Reading School District parent liaison Arleny Pimentel, and Reading poet Noah Ayala, who represented the United States at the Ditet e Naimit International Albanian Poetry Festival in 2018.
Perez-Roman will hold the title of laureate for two years, and in that time he is expected to advance the art form of poetry in Berks County. He is working with his fellow finalists and outgoing poet laureate Anthony Orozco to plan what that looks like for his community.
“My thing is connecting with creatives and bringing it to the youth,” Perez-Roman said. “I truly want our community to come together and put creativity into action.”
Orozco said he is immensely proud of Perez-Roman and all of the other finalists who displayed their fearlessness and poetry prowess in the head-to-head competition. He also said the evening is an example of how empowered artists can change the status quo.
“Usually, when City Hall is packed to the brim, it is because residents are frustrated, divided and calling for change,” Orozco said. “Friday night, it was packed because they were joyful, unified, and because change was taking place in real time.”
The Reading Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Andrew Constantine, will present the grand finale of its 2023-2024 season, “Symphonie Fantastique,” on Saturday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Santander Performing Arts Center, Reading.
Hector Berlioz’s masterpiece features an exhilarating blend of cackling witches, nightmarish waltzes and haunting tolling bells. This groundbreaking symphonic work tells the story of an artist’s obsession with a woman. Divided into five movements, the symphony depicts the artist’s tumultuous emotions, from infatuation to despair, as he experiences vivid dreams, hallucinations and fantasies fueled by unrequited love.
The evening’s program will commence with Frederic Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1, delicately interpreted by Michelle Cann, a distinguished member of the piano faculty at the renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. A masterful work of the Romantic era, the concerto showcases the composer’s unique blend of lyrical melodies and virtuosic piano writing.
Composed in 1830, it consists of three movements: Allegro maestoso, Romance: Larghetto, and Rondo: Vivace. It features lush harmonies, expressive themes and brilliant piano passages that will highlight Cann’s technical prowess and emotional depth. The concerto reflects Chopin’s characteristic style, combining elements of Polish folk music with the grandeur and sophistication of the classical concerto form.
Tickets are available at readingsymphony.org or by calling the RSO box office at 610-373-7557.
Berks Ballet Theatre will present the classical ballet “La Fille Mal Gardée (The Wayward Daughter),” rounding out the ballet company’s 48th season, on Saturday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Miller Center for the Arts at Reading Area Community College.
Set in a picturesque French countryside village, the ballet tells the story of a young woman named Lise (danced by Kaitlyn Staskel, a junior at Warwick High School, Lititz), who falls in love with a young farmer named Colas (danced by professional Aaron Smyth). Lise is an only child to Simone, and overbearing mother and farm owner, who has other ambitious plans for her daughter.
The light-hearted and comedic tale of two young people in love was first presented in two acts in the late-1700s by the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux in France. Its many adaptations have influenced the work of prominent ballet companies around the world. Berks Ballet Theatre’s version is based on Frederick Ashton’s ballet with new staging and choreography by BBT’s artistic director, Kelly Barber
The ballet features two acts danced by the company’s 21 company dancers along with Smyth, who appeared in the role of the Cavalier in BBT’s 2022 and 2023 “Nutcracker” ballets. Smyth is best known for his associations with American Ballet Theatre II in New York, The Royal Ballet in London and The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago.
Reading-area performer Michael Dietrich joins the company as Widow Simone, with Matthew Brunner and Christopher Paolini, both also of the Reading area, in the roles of Thomas and Alain, respectively.
“La Fille Mal Gardée” has a special history with BBT as the ballet had been mounted several times by the company throughout the 1980s and ’90s by its founding director, Carol Ennis.
“It’s a fun ballet, not very heavy,” Ennis said. “My associate director, Bob Sheridan, danced the role of Widow Simone in 1988 and 1990, and he was hysterical dancing the Clog Dance. My husband never laughed so hard.”
