Why Are YouTube Tags Important?

Whens it comes to tags on YouTube, they are incredibly important as it allows YouTube to better understand exactly what your video is about.

Properly optimizing your YouTube video descriptions and YouTube channel is super important. SEO is one of the best things to learn if you need to learn how to make PASSIVE income.

You can find the best way to do this with the YouTube Freedom Toolkit .

Traditionally, Google has always found and ranked certain types of articles based on the keywords and relevancy of the article. However for YouTube, this isn’t as easy as they don’t have any text to reference.

Use proper titles, descriptions, keywords and thumbnails to make YouTube understand your content. From there, they will be able to place the video that is relevant to a certain search query or recommended video.

How To Pick Optimized Tags For Your Videos

Whenever I pick tags for my YouTube videos, I always use the TAB method. Say what?

The TAB method is as follows:

  • Target:  This first tag should be the target of what your video is about (for example, “vanilla cake recipe”)
  • Alternative: This is where you put in alternative tags that are relevant to your targeted keyword (for example you could use, easy vanilla cake recipe, simple vanilla cake recipe, cake recipe)
  • Broad: Last but not least is to put broad tags on what people might be searching for related to the keyword (for example, how to make vanilla cake, easy to follow vanilla cake recipe)

If you want to learn more, you can see this awesome video below which covers some actionable YouTube SEO tips.

Spy On Your Competitors

If you are stumped for tags on your YouTube videos, you can always go find what other successful videos are using for their own tags. While this is a bit if a sneaky method, it actually gives you some great ideas on things you may have missed and what you may be able to reverse engineer.

To do this, you want to find a video that is similar to your own that has got lots of views. Once you have found one, you then want to right click anywhere on the screen and click “view page source” .

Spy On Your Competitors

Once you have clicked that option, a new page should open that looks a lot like alien language. But don’t stress! We will be able to find what we are after.

After the new page opens, you then want to go CTRL + F and search for “ Keyword “. This will enable us to see what tags this successful video is using.

Capture the Keyword

As you can see from the above screenshot, this video is using the target tag, alternative tags and then more broad tags about the topic of vanilla cake. So now you can go ahead and copy some of these and implement them into your own video.

This is also a great method on how to show up in recommend videos which is how 45% of all creators get their views!

Say Your Keyword Throughout your Video

Another hack that you can do to boost the performance and SEO of your video is to say your target keyword and main tag throughout your video. So in this instance, my video is about vanilla cakes recipes, so I would want to use that in my tag and also say it in my video several times.

YouTube is becoming really smart in how they know what a video is about. Until recently, they only relied on tags. However, now they use voice recognition and subtitle your video (see below) to better understand the context of what your video is about.

Say your tag within your video

Use Tag/ YouTube Tools

If the above tips seem a bit too technical, then you are not alone! I myself am not a very technical person and love things to be simple. Fortunately for us, there are great tools out there like TubeBuddy which is a simple add-on to Google Chrome that allows us to see tags of other videos and where we can improve our own.

YouTube Tools

If this article has given some good information on the best YouTube tags, I would love for you to share down below on the type of tags that you decided to use on your next video! The 49 Best Hashtags for the Travel and Tourism Industry

This content discusses how millennials prioritize experiences over material possessions and the importance of social media presence for travel businesses.

youtube travel tags

Younger generations are trading in their need for buying ‘things’ in pursuit of experiencing the world. Not to say millennials don’t spend their money on tangible stuff, but the stuff they’re spending money on is different than the generations of yesteryear. Most likely, you won’t find a 30-something’s household stocked with dish sets and porcelain figurines. Instead, you’ll find plane tickets and photographs of travels abroad. If there’s one thing millennials love as much as travel, it’s social media. After all, if they can’t post that epic selfie with Machu Picchu as the backdrop, did it ever really happen? From this, we can assess that Instagram is either fueling the travel boom, or the travel boom is fueling the use of Instagram. As such, travel and tourism businesses need a strong social media presence to stand out. Using hashtags in conjunction with social media marketing is a great way to help your business get found, as well as make a lasting impression. Using branded hashtags is a powerful marketing strategy that really works. Use these popular hashtags in your social media marketing and keep reading for a clever branded hashtag promotion idea to boost engagement with your brand.

Create a branded hashtag and encourage followers

Did you know that Instagram allows you to follow a hashtag? Create a branded hashtag that is unique to your business and entice followers by continually offering giveaways and promotions in posts using that hashtag.Much like telling your audience “Follow us on Facebook for exclusive offers,” you can do the same thing with a specific hashtag. And, offering regular giveaways and promotions will keep the audience captive - a great conduit for additional marketing. For example, in this giveaway, do you see how they’ve used #contestalert in their post? If you opt in to follow #contestalert, you’ll see any posts using that hashtag in your feed. Pretty cool, right?http://www.instagram.com/p/Bt0m-WLH-hT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_linkSo, if you set up a branded hashtag - for the sake of this contest example, we’ll use #vresortscontestalert - and asked your audience to follow it, they will see all the posts using that hashtag. Think of the potential! Offering regular contests with your branded hashtag will entice more followers, plus, when anyone uses that hashtag, followers will see those posts as well. Now that you’ve got some tools to help increase your reach and following, there are a few logistics to consider. Selecting a winner truly at random poses a problem, especially if you have hundreds or thousands of entries. How do you do it? You can import comments as entries into contest software like ShortStack where you can use a random entry selector to pick your winner(s). With ShortStack, you’ll also be able to store the entries for future marketing. Read more about using comments as entries from both Instagram and Facebook .As a bonus, use these popular hashtags in conjunction with your branded hashtags to boost your giveaway or promotion’s discoverability.Best Hashtags for Contests and Promotions

YouTube tags: The complete guide for marketers

Written by by Nader Nekvasil

Published on  September 21, 2022

YouTube tags are an important part of YouTube SEO . They help YouTube understand the content of your video and help your video show up in search results.

If you’re looking to promote your content to new audiences or show up in more relevant search results, then you need to be using YouTube tags. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know about YouTube tags, including what youtube tags are and how to add them to your videos.

  • What are YouTube tags

How to add tags to YouTube videos

How to find popular youtube tags.

  • How to track the performance of YouTube tags

Tips for using YouTube tags

What are youtube tags .

YouTube tags are keywords that you add to your YouTube videos. They help YouTube understand the content and context of your video, which allows YouTube to show your video in relevant search results.

For example, if you have a video about how to make a cake, you would want to use YouTube tags like “baking,” “cake recipe” and “how to make a cake.” This would help YouTube show your video to people who are searching for those terms.

YouTube Tags - How to make a cake

Why are YouTube tags important?

YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world, and its 2 billion monthly active users use it to find videos on all sorts of topics. Tags for YouTube help people discover your videos in YouTube search results.

YouTube says that the most important SEO factors on the platform are the video title, description and thumbnail. Still, YouTube tags can be a great secondary method to boost discoverability on YouTube.

YouTube tags vs. YouTube hashtags

The main difference between YouTube tags and YouTube hashtags is that tags are used for relevancy in YouTube search, while hashtags are used for dedicated hashtag search .

For example, think of hashtags on Twitter . When you search for a specific hashtag, you’re able to see all of the Tweets that include that same hashtag. YouTube hashtags work similarly, giving users the ability to see all YouTube videos that include a specific hashtag in the title or description.

YouTube tags, on the other hand, describe the content of your video and help YouTube (and potential viewers) understand what your video is about.

Tags will help YouTube’s search engine algorithm determine where to rank your video in YouTube search results. Hashtags will simply anchor your content to other content that uses an identical hashtag.

Step 1. Go to YouTube and hover over your profile picture. Select YouTube Studio from the drop-down menu.

Step 2. Select Content from the left menu.

Step 3. To edit a video, simply hover over it and click Details .

How to add tags to youtube

Step 4. Scroll down the video details page and click Show More .

Step 5. Add relevant tags up to 500 characters total, in the Tags section.

Adding YouTube Tags

Step 6. When you’re done, click Save in the top-right corner of your screen.

Before you start tagging your YouTube videos, you should spend some time researching popular YouTube tags.

Not surprisingly, the best way to find popular YouTube tags is on YouTube. To find popular tags, simply go to YouTube and search for a topic related to your content. For instance, if you are making a video on how to take care of houseplants, you could search for “how to take care of houseplants”.

Finding popular youtube tags

Choose a video that fits your search query and look at the YouTube tag suggestions on the right side of the screen. These tags are based on related searches and can show you what people who have watched this content were also interested in.

You can also use a YouTube tags extractor or tags generator to find even more popular tags for YouTube.

YouTube tags extractor

YouTube tag extractors are online tools that help you find the most popular YouTube tags for your content.

When you enter the URL of a YouTube video into a YouTube tags extractor, it will show you a list of tags that users have added for that video. You can then use these tags in your videos to make them more discoverable.

Tracking performance of YouTube tags

Once you’ve done the heavy lifting of tagging your YouTube videos, it’s time to track the performance of your YouTube tags. These are a few metrics you can use to track the success of your YouTube tags:

  • Views: How many people have watched your video?
  • Watch time: How long are people watching your video?
  • Engagement: What percentage of viewers are engaging with your video (liking, sharing, commenting)?
  • Traffic sources: Where are your viewers coming from? YouTube search, YouTube suggested videos, other social media channels?

To track these metrics, you can use YouTube analytics . To access YouTube analytics, click on your profile picture on the YouTube homepage. Choose YouTube Studio , then click Analytics in the left menu.

YouTube Channel Analytics

Don’t forget to use the YouTube search traffic sources, which lets you see which search terms are bringing people to your videos . Continue to optimize your YouTube tags by analyzing your YouTube analytics and making adjustments to improve traffic.

Get the most out of your YouTube tags by following these best practices.

1. Don’t use too many tags

Don’t go overboard when adding tags to your YouTube videos. The YouTube algorithm is designed to present the most relevant content for each user, so if you’re using too many tags, or if your tags are irrelevant, YouTube might relegate your videos to the bottom of search results.

According to Briggsby , 31 to 40 tags (of two to three words each) is ideal.

number of phrases for youtube tags

2. Use tags that are trending

YouTube has an auto-suggest feature that can help you identify which tags are trending. Simply begin typing your tag into the YouTube search bar and check out some of the recommended tags that pop up.

YouTube trending tags

3. Use both specific and broad tags

To help users find your videos, use both specific and broad tags. For example, if you’re a real estate agent in Los Angeles, some of your specific tags could be “Los Angeles real estate” or “LA homes for sale.” Some of your broader tags could be “real estate” or “apartments for sale.”

Remember, YouTube is a search engine, so treat your tags like you would keywords for Google . The more relevant and specific your tags are, the easier it will be for YouTube to match your video with user searches.

4. Don’t forget synonyms

Using synonyms is a great way to broaden the reach of your YouTube tags. For example, if you’re a travel vlogger, some of your tags could be “travel,” “vacation,” or “trip.” It’s always smart to consider how people (not just algorithms) might be searching for your content.

5. Use competitor videos as inspiration

Checking out how your competitors are tagging their YouTube videos can give you some great ideas. After all, if they’re ranking high for certain keywords, it’s likely because those keywords are working well.

To see what tags a YouTube video has, open the video page on Google Chrome or Firefox. Then, right-click on the page and click View Source . Hit Control + F , then search for the word “ keywords ” in the source code to see the tags.

YouTube tags - view source

As you’re looking at competitor videos, also take note of their titles and descriptions. These can give you some great ideas for how to title and describe your own videos to help them rank.

Tags are descriptive keywords that help viewers find your videos on YouTube. According to YouTube , the tags (along with video’s title, thumbnail, and description) are the important piece of metadata you need to provide, in order to boost your video’s rank in YouTube search results.

In other words, tags help YouTube to better understand your video’s topic, associate it with similar content, and include it into relevant searches, which helps you to reach new viewers and grow your subscriber base. This is essential for monetized channels when your revenue directly depends on growing the views and subscribers.

Here are some suggestions how you can use the tags to maximize the ranking effect:

1. Use our free YouTube tags generator tool to start and to give you basic ideas. Our tags generator will format the tags to fit YouTube’s requirements, you can simply copy and paste the tags to your YouTube video. Optionally, take a minute to optimize the tags for even better results.

How to get the most relevant tags:

Sometimes, especially if you’re not getting the results you’d expect, you need to tweak your topic a little.

Consider these two examples below.

The topic “French music” produces rather odd results, while “French style music” phrase generates much more relevant tags.

How the best travel vloggers were chosen:

Like all lists, people will wonder why they’re not on it. I’m positive I missed some good ones, but this is very loose criteria I’d be using if I were hired to cast, produce or pitch a TV show. Creators did not need to meet all criteria, but most. – Programming: Weekly dedication, quality, storytelling & individual style execution – Audience: Niche, loyalty, & YouTube friendly – Blog worthy and/or binge worthy – Does it bring a new spin to the term “travel video” or “travel show” – Channel Personality/Talent: brand recognition, hosting & entertainment value

How to Make Travel Videos for YouTube (and Grow Your Channel)

“ I feel like I’m traveling with you when I watch your videos .” – A comment on one of my YouTube videos.

And in fact, many of the emails and Facebook messages I get asked these days, begin something like, “Hey, I saw your videos…”

Why did I share this?

It demonstrates the power you have with videos, and the potential you have to connect with your audience.

In this post, I’m going to share with you a step-by-step guide on how to make travel videos for YouTube (and then depending on what your goal is, I’ll show you how to grow your channel and subscribers).

video seo

Why Are Videos Important?

Word of Warning: This guide is long and extensive (and I share a lot of the things I’ve done to grow my YouTube channel), so if you’re interesting in learning how to make travel videos (or any video) for YouTube, I would encourage you to read through ALL of it. And if you have a question, leave a comment at the bottom.

The reason videos are so important is because they are incredibly engaging and offer a well rounded sensory experience that includes visual motion, sound, story, and personality.

I always loved taking photos of food and blogging about it, but I continued to think to myself that there had to be a better way to show the atmosphere of eating and the emotion of tasting delicious food.

It was sometime in 2011 that it hit me:

I needed to start making travel and food videos and posting them on my YouTube channel .

On that day I committed myself to learning how to make travel videos (mostly food focused), and how to optimize video SEO on YouTube (which is not only the biggest video website platform , but also the world’s second largest search engine).

When I first started making video, I had no experience, and had little clue what I was doing (and I only had a small point and shoot camera). Today, my YouTube channel is my main sources of making money  and getting traffic.

The point of saying this is:

Videos have massive potential. And even if you have no experience, and have no idea what you’re doing, you can still get started today (and this guide will walk you through getting started).

youtube travel videos

How to Make Travel Videos for YouTube

One of the greatest things about making travel videos yourself is that you’re the producer, and you can decide what you want to do, how you want to film your story, and you don’t have to let anyone else approve your video before you publish it.

This first section is going to cover a quick formula for how to make travel videos, and we’ll then go much more in-depth about each of these topics below.

4 Basic Steps:

  • Define Your Story : According to the Harvard Business Review , our brains naturally love stories and are attracted to following them. Think about what story you’re going to share in your video.
  • Film Your Video : Once you have your story, it’s time to start filming your video. I would recommend getting lots of both close up detailed shots, and long wide shots. And get some extra shots for post editing too.
  • Edit Your Video : Editing your video is the process of taking the raw clips you filmed, and making them into a flowable story, where you can cut out parts you don’t need, and keep everything in sequence. Editing a video is sort of like doing a puzzle, you get to fit everything together.
  • Publish and Promote : Once you’ve created your video, it’s time to upload it to YouTube or anywhere else of your choosing, and optimize and promote it so you can share your video story with others.

Now, let’s get into some serious details.

Travel Video Ideas

Before you start making travel videos, you might want to take some time to think about the types of travel videos you want to create.

Sometimes though, it helps to start making videos first. Then once you’ve done some experimenting, you’ll be able to narrow in on the types of videos you enjoy making, and that are most effective for what you’re doing.

Types of videos

  • Travel Vlogs : Vlogs, or video blogs, are the video equivalent of a blog post. Travel vlogs are typically very personal, overall pretty natural, focused on reality, and for the most part they don’t need to be perfectly edited or filmed (they are often filmed by yourself, selfie style). According to BBC , a key to the top vloggers is that they build trust with their audience. Vlogs are one of my personal preferred methods of making travel videos because they don’t have pressure and are meant to be natural. In addition to showing personality, in my vlogs I try to offer helpful tips, like where to stay, and restaurants to eat at.
  • Travel Guide Videos : Making a travel guide destination video could be something like a “Guide to visiting Delhi,” or “ 25 Things To Do in Tokyo .” These are examples of travel videos that aren’t just personal updates, but they are designed to inspire or help people travel. Additionally, these types of destination videos can be optimized for search engines (either on YouTube search or Google search) so that they keep on being viewed. Destination travel videos can take some planning, lots of footage, and a lot of editing. But the results I’ve seen from these pillar style videos, can be huge.
  • Niche Videos : When I first started making travel videos for YouTube, I really had no focus or story, and I just uploaded a few videos and waited to see what would happen. However, my passion is food travel, and so when I started focusing on my niche, I decided to make the majority of my videos focused on food (which is often a part of travel). Choose the niche that you’re passionate about and make videos revolving around your passion.
  • Explanation or Marketing Videos : Since videos are so engaging, they can be hugely effective for marketing and promotions. Your “ About ” page on your travel blog is probably one of the most viewed pages on your website, so why not make an “ About Me ” video. Putting a face, voice, and personality behind a blog immediately makes it more trustworthy, personable, and credible.

There are many kinds of travel video possibilities and these are just a few to get your ideas flowing.

But the BEST way to figure out what kind of travel videos you want to start making, is to start filming and publishing and seeing what works and what you enjoy.

What’s the most important thing about a video?

Casey Neistat , one of the greatest vloggers on YouTube, has consistently said “story” is the most important component of ANY video.

I fully agree.

Have you ever watched one of those amazingly filmed scenery videos with the gorgeous footage and music in the background? After about a minute of watching, maybe you got bored and went to the next video. It’s inspirational, but not a story.

On the flip-side, you’ve watched a video where someone is explaining something or sharing something, that keeps you engaged and watching, and walks you through a story. And all of a sudden you don’t know where 10 minutes just went.

Think about a story for every video you make.

Will you be the face of your video?

The way I see it, there are in general just 2 different types of travel videos:

  • You are in the video
  • You are not in the video

I’ll tell you this:

If viewers can see your face and feel your personality, they will instantly connect much better with you than if they don’t see your face.

I’m not saying you need to be the main part of your video, but what I think works best is a mixture of being on camera and then overlaying video clips to explain what you’re talking about.

I was nervous and felt weird the first time I decided to make a food video on camera. Speaking in front of the camera, even if you’re filming yourself, can be a scary thing. But I’m here to tell you that, just like most things you practice, you get better and more comfortable at it.

If you choose not to be on camera you can always edit your videos and add voice overs or add music to your travel videos.

Video Cameras and Equipment

Cameras and equipment are of course essential for making videos. But at the same time, if you don’t have a plan or story, they aren’t worth much.

Video quality is important, but at the same time, I would encourage you to still make videos, even if you don’t feel your equipment is good enough. You can record great video nowadays with point and shoot cameras, or even phones.

I started with a point and shoot camera (I think it was 4.3 megapixel), and I also formerly used a Canon 70D to film my videos (the Canon 80D is the updated version and a great camera). It’s a great camera because it has a wonderful autofocus so you can easily film yourself. But it’s a pretty big and bulky camera.

As of mid 2015, I switched over to a mirrorless camera that is much smaller and easier to use, and I’ve been very happy with the image quality.

Video camera I use:

  • LUMIX GX8 : This is the main camera I use to film all my current videos. I love the quality and size. The only think I don’t like about it is that I have to use an audio converter plug for the microphone.
  • LUMIX 12 – 35 mm lens : I use this lens along with the GX8 to film nearly all my videos. It has a good range and depth of field.
  • RODE Video Mic Pro : Audio is a huge part of video, and the RODE mic is a fantastic shotgun directional mic that picks up voice but also atmosphere sounds.

Almost all my videos are filmed with this simple setup. You may also want to consider using a tripod or monopod for best video results, but it’s not necessary. I normally don’t carry a full tripod with me, but I do use a Joby gorilla pod frequently.

editing travel videos

Edit Your YouTube Videos

There are endless ways for how to make travel videos and edit them, but here’s a formula that I use, and it has worked well.

As a side note, knowing how I’m going to edit my videos, also helps me when I’m filming. So it might be helpful for you to decided how your going to edit before you start filming.

4 Step Editing Formula:

  • Introduction  (around 10 seconds): The first 10 seconds of your video are hugely important. If it’s no engaging enough, people will leave your video. Capture viewers attention with something interesting or tell them what your video is going to be about.
  • You logo brand (5 seconds): Next, promote your brand. I simply use my logo and add music to it, but others have a more fancy intro.
  • Body of video : (3 – 8 minutes, or could be longer): This is the body storyline of your video, the bulk of the content.
  • Ending and Call To Action (around 10 – 15 seconds): At the end of your video, it’s a good idea to have a call to action. I usually ask viewers to click thumbs up (this can help increase your video rankings), and to subscribe for future videos. One of the most effective ways to achieve a call to action at the end of a video is to speak it, ask viewers to do something. But you can also include an end card that you annotate (do this by building it into your video when you’re editing).

A good length to aim for is from 3 – 10 minutes, but you can also try different length videos as well. I’ve had shorter 1 minute videos do well, and longer 15 minute videos do well.

For this travel videos guide, I’m not going to get into the details of actual editing. However, it’s pretty easy to learn, depending on what software you use. You don’t need to worry about special effects or doing anything too fancy, just mainly focus on cutting out parts you don’t need and adding in pieces you do need to complete your story.

Editing Tools

  • Video Editing Software : There are many programs to edit your videos with. I use  Adobe Premiere , and another popular choice on Macs is Final Cut . However, there are even good free editing software like Lightworks .
  • Voice Over : Recording your voice and overlaying it on video is a good way to add more value and information to your travel videos while keeping your video interesting and engaging. It does take time, but it’s worth it, especially on destination style videos.
  • Music : Music can make or break a travel video, so choose something wisely that fits the mood, is important. But be very careful of copyrights and only use music that you are licensed to use or you. I’ve used plenty of royalty free music from Kevin MacLeod and Josh Woodward , which are free to use and profit from as long as you credit the producer. I also occasionally purchase music from sites like Premium Beat  and  Audio Jungle . You might also check out the subscription service with Audio Network and Audio Blocks .
  • Natural Background Sounds : From my experience, when dealing with travel videos, many people enjoy hearing the real sounds of the place. It adds to the viewer experience of the destination and atmosphere. So if it’s appropriate, consider using less music and more natural background sounds. I learned this from people commenting on my videos, saying they would like to hear the natural background sounds. Another point, listen to what people are commenting on your videos.

You’ve created your video, it’s now time to upload it.

Upload Your Video to YouTube

After shooing and editing your videos, it’s time to upload them to YouTube!

For starters, I always upload my videos as “Private,” so that I can put all the finishing touches, like keywords, descriptions, titles, and annotations, on them before publishing it to the public.

This also allows me to schedule my videos to publish at the exact time that I’ve told my subscribers I’m going to publish.

I probably don’t need to mention this, but just login to your YouTube account, click upload in the upper right corner, and simply drag your video file onto the upload screen. Then wait until it finishes uploading and processing.

But the work doesn’t end here…

video SEO

Optimize Your Video for YouTube

Making and editing a video is only half the work… keep persisting to optimize your videos, it’s worth it in the long run.

What’s the point of optimizing (YouTube SEO)?

Let’s say you have two phrases that mean the same thing, like: “What to do in Bangkok” and “Things to do in Bangkok.” But let’s say 10 times more people search for one of the phrases over the other. Wouldn’t you want to know which phrase that is so that you can target it with your video?

  • Keyword Research : Brian Dean is one of my go to guys for current information on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and keyword research . And even though he typically talks about article marketing, it applies to video SEO as well. You can use the  Google Keyword planner  to search for specific words or phrases that have a high search rate and use them as your main keywords. Example keyword: “Indonesian sate”
  • Video File : Before you upload your video, if you already have your keywords chosen that pertain to the video, you can name your video and add some meta data with your keywords to it, prior to uploading. Name your video file: indonesian-sate.mp4 and then upload.
  • Title : For your YouTube video title, the best thing is to make sure your keywords are at the beginning of your title (but that being said, it’s important for your title to be attractive and make sense at the same time). Example title: “Indonesian Sate in Jakarta”
  • Description : On every YouTube video, you have a description box where you can include information about your video. It’s a good idea to include your keywords in the description box about once every 100 words or so. I normally shoot for 300 – 500 words or so in my video description boxes. Also make sure you include links to your blogs, social media platforms, and wherever you want to direct viewers.
  • Keyword Tags : List your target keyword as the first tag, but then go crazy adding synonyms or other related keywords you can think of.
  • Advanced Settings : Any kind of extra setting that YouTube gives you to fill out behind the scenes of a video you upload, do it. Add in the location, the recoding date, the category etc. I’m not sure how much of a weight this could have in video rank, but if YouTube wants you to do it, it definitely has some benefit.
  • Thumbnail Image : I’m not sure if all YouTube accounts have access to upload custom video thumbnails, but if you have the option, do it faithfully. Attractive video thumbnails can make the difference in people clicking on your video instead of others when they are scrolling through their feed.
  • Subtitles and Closed Captions : Creating video subtitles and closed captions is a huge time consuming task, but it can be a good idea and increase your audience according to YouTube . I sometimes create subtitles for videos I really want to rank for, but since I create so much content, I simply don’t do it for every video. It’s something for you to consider.
  • Embed and Link Videos : Finally, if you have a blog, make sure you embed your video into a blog post that pertains to your video. Not only will it be helpful to readers, but it can also boost the video. Also, just like SEO for articles, linking out to your video is a good idea as well.

This process looks complicated, but really once you get the hang of it, you can do it pretty quickly and effortlessly, and it gets much easier the more you do it.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is not something you have to overdo with it comes to marketing your videos on YouTube, but it is helpful to target words that get more traffic.

growing your youtube channel

How to Grow Your YouTube Channel

The way I see it there are 2 main methods of growing your channel which are in your control.

  • Gain Subscribers : Subscribers are people who subscribe to your YouTube channel and when you publish a video, they are notified and often watch your newest published videos soon after you release them.
  • Create Evergreen Videos (Video SEO) : Evergreen content are videos that rank well when people search on YouTube or Google, and can continue to rack up views over time. These videos bring in new viewers continuously (day and night), and you always have an opportunity to convert them into subscribers. Tips for creating evergreen videos is summarized in the optimize section above.

I say “in your control” because you can do these two things yourself to boost your YouTube channel.

Other less controllable methods for growing your YouTube channels are are somewhat out of your immediate control.

However, focusing on the two things mentioned above and improving your overall channel authority and watch time, will increase your chances of less controllable factors which include things like YouTube promoting your videos as suggested videos or even having one of your videos go viral.

Things To Do:

  • Watch Time : Watch Time is the amount of minutes a viewer watches a video, and it’s an extremely important ranking factor on YouTube videos. Why? Because watch time translates to engagement, and YouTube wants people to stay on YouTube and keep watching videos. If you can create travel videos that are engaging and that have a higher watch time than other videos, your video will likely rank higher than videos about the same subject. This goes back to story, right?
  • Video Schedule : When I first began learning how to make travel videos for YouTube, I committed to publishing 1 video every week, on Wednesday at 8 pm Bangkok time. When I got more into it, I bumped it up to 2 videos per week, on Weds and Sun at 8 pm. Just like a TV show, people will come back (and subscribe) when they know your publishing schedule and if you actually do it. If you’re serious about making videos for YouTube, stick to your schedule. Another bonus of having a schedule is that it pressures yourself to do it – no procrastinating!
  • Intro Video on Channel : Since the introduction of the current YouTube channel designs, there’s a place for an introduction video where a video shows to those who haven’t yet subscribed. I’m not sure of how effective this intro video is, but it’s a good idea to have one that introducing yourself and what your channel is about. Make sure you include a call to action to click subscribe for more videos.
  • Playlists : Playlists are important and necessary for all YouTube channels and all your videos should reside in a playlist, which is a list of videos that have a similar theme and category. Playlists make it easier for viewers to keep watching videos, and they may end up watching your entire playlist of videos if they are engaged. As soon as you publish a video, add it to a playlist.
  • Annotations and Cards : Annotation are clickable boxes that popup when you’re watching a YouTube video with a message. You can use them to ask people to give your video a thumbs up, remind them to check out your blog, or that your new t-shirts are now available. Cards are a nicer looking call to action where you can link out to another website from your video.
  • Comments : Again, YouTube loves to see engagement, and when your video gets lots of “likes” and comments, that improves engagement. Ask people to leave a thumbs up and comment in your video, and then make sure you do your part to answer back as much as you can.

If you follow these tips and keep publishing videos, I’m pretty confident your YouTube channel will grow.

Along with first starting a blog , the decision to start making travel and food videos for YouTube and growing my YouTube channel, was probably the best choice I’ve made in my online career.

In this guide on how to make travel videos for YouTube we’ve gone over a step by step plan on how you can start to make videos and grow your channel (and your videos don’t need to be only about travel, this guide will work for any subject of video).

There’s no doubt that it takes a lot of work. But the beauty of making videos, especially when you have a a platform like YouTube to share them on, is that you have the potential to connect with millions of people from around the world.

Don’t wait, start creating and telling your story today.

How to Find More Hashtags for Your YouTube Shorts

Whether you're a seasoned creator looking to refresh your approach or a new content creator excited to hit the ground running, we've compiled a set of tried and tested hashtag strategies to help you find the best YT Shorts tags for your content.

1. Check Out the Trending Section on YouTube

The Trending section is like YouTube's pulse—showing you what's currently capturing viewers' attention. It's an ever-changing space of popular content.

Simply visit the Trending page on YouTube. Look for videos similar to yours and note the hashtags they use. For example, if you're posting a cooking short and see a trending video on a quick recipe, check out the hashtags they've included.

2. Use YouTube Suggest

YouTube Suggest acts like a sneak peek into the collective mind of your potential audience, revealing what they're searching for. It's a real-time insight into trending topics and interests.

Start typing a topic related to your video content in the YouTube search bar and watch the suggestions pop up. If your video is about DIY home decor, typing "DIY home" might bring up suggestions like #DIYHomeOffice or #HomeDecorIdeas.

3. See What Your Competitors are Doing

Your competitors are targeting a similar audience, so seeing which hashtags they use can provide a blueprint for your own strategy. It's a way to learn from the success (and mistakes) of others without having to go through it yourself.

Identify a few competitors (or even influencers) with a strong presence and similar content. Watch their most popular YouTube Shorts content and jot down the hashtags they use. If you're in the fitness niche and notice a competitor using #FitnessMotivation or #HomeWorkouts effectively, consider how you can incorporate these into your own posts.

4. Use Hashtag Generator Tools

There are multiple hashtag generator tools designed to help you find trending hashtags across social media platforms. These can provide insights into popular and relevant hashtags that you might not have considered yet.

Use tools like TubeBuddy, VidIQ, or Hashtagify. For instance, if you're creating tech-related content, inputting "technology" into Hashtagify might reveal associated trending hashtags like #TechNews, #Innovation, or #Gadgets.

5. Track Your Hashtag Performance

Understanding which hashtags bring in the most views and engagement on your Shorts content can help you refine your strategy over time.

Keep an eye on your YouTube Analytics to see how viewers are finding your videos. Note which hashtags correlate with increased discovery and engagement, and adjust your future content accordingly.

6. Join Online Communities

Engaging with online communities related to your content niche can reveal trending topics and the hashtags that accompany them.

Participate in forums like Reddit, Quora, or even Facebook groups to find relevant niche hashtags. For example, if you're into digital art, joining a digital artists' group on Facebook can help you see what topics are trending and what hashtags members use to share their work.

How to Add Hashtags to Your YouTube Shorts

Adding hashtags to your YouTube Shorts videos is simple. But if you’re unsure to start, here’s a quick tutorial on how to search the most popular hashtags on YouTube and add them to your video:

Step 1: Research and Select Your Hashtags

Start by identifying relevant hashtags using the strategies we've discussed. Aim for a mix of broad and niche tags to cast a wide net and reach the right audience for your content.

Step 2: Include Hashtags in Your Video Description

When uploading your Short, you'll have the option to add a description. This is where your hashtags will go. Enter the # symbol in the video title or description box.

Followed by the #, enter the topic or keyword you want to associate with your video. YouTube will then automatically suggest popular hashtags based on your input. You can also add some branded hashtags to further personalize your videos.

Note that you should begin with the most relevant hashtags, as only the first few are displayed in search results and previews. A good rule of thumb is to use about three to five hashtags to keep things focused.

Step 3: Save Your Description and Publish the Video

Once you’ve added all the hashtags, save your description and publish your video. Your hashtags will be displayed in the description at the bottom of your published video.

Observe the views and engagement of your YouTube Short for a while and update your hashtags or description if needed.

Remember: Don’t Overuse Hashtags in YT Shorts

Packing your YouTube Short’s description with hashtags isn't the secret recipe to going viral on YouTube. They’re a growth lever that may boost your visibility and get your YouTube Shorts videos in front of your target audience.

You still need to focus on creating high-quality content because that’s what will keep your viewers engaged and retain them for longer. When you hit that sweet spot of content that resonates, that's when the magic happens: viewers smash that subscribe button, hang onto your every upload, and become your personal cheer squad, sharing your videos far and wide.

And here's the kicker: making great content isn’t just about having the fanciest camera or using the most complex video editing tool to edit your YouTube videos . It’s about your authentic style and storytelling skills. With VEED, you can easily edit your videos on the go.

No need to download complex software, pay hefty subscription fees or spend hours perfecting one single transition.

The 27 Best Travel Youtube Channels To Follow

Disclaimer: This page may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase using one of those links, I may earn a commission at zero cost for you. Please see my  disclaimer policy  here and my privacy policy here.

I have selected these 27 best travel YouTube channels from great Vloggers documenting their trips around the world. I am sure they will inspire you to travel and meet other cultures.

And if you cannot travel right now, they will surely take you to remote villages of unexplored countries and different worlds and cultures. So sit back and enjoy!

Watching traveling channels is the best way to relax after a long working day, instead of watching unreal movies or sad news, which certainly won’t help you unwind.

Many travel vloggers nowadays are amazingly talented and create spectacular videos out of their travel footage that will make you dream and travel from your couch.

Sometimes you can find travel-related fun videos on youtube that are just hilarious, and you wonder how come those people are not on the big screen. There are so many talented vloggers out there and I have watched hundreds of travel videos before creating this shortlist of the best youtube channels.

So without further ado, please find here the best travel vloggers on Youtube that will make you travel from the couch!

Please note that for navigation speed purposes I couldn’t embed the videos. But I linked them to the related image, for your convenience.

1. Sam Newton Media

Sam Newton is a young talented traveler who decided to drop out of college, buy a video camera, learn out to create amazing videos, and start to travel the world. I am sure you agree with me that he learned the craft quite well.

The way he captures the essence of every situation is mind-blowing. He creates tension and drama to make you stay glued to the videos. The amazing images make you feel as if you were right there, in the scene.

2. The Expert Vagabond – Matthew Kersten

Matthew is one of the first Bloggers who made it a real profession and made us all go for it too. He inspired me to write my first article and start my blog adventure. Of course, I am not even comparing myself to his spectacular work but I keep following him for inspiration.

His videos are breathtaking and very professional. He’s indeed one my favorites among all the travel video channels I have shared here.

This video that I have picked for you amongst the hundreds that he publishes has a special meaning to me because it has been recorded in Antarctica, a place that I am dreaming to visit, and the main character is a penguin, one of the reasons why I want to go to Antarctica, my favorite animal on earth.

This video is hilarious but although I was happy to see the penguin safe I couldn’t help but think how the human species is interfering with nature, in the good and in the bad of course.

Anyway, please watch it and let me know your thoughts.

As for me, I am working towards my goal to be in Antarctica in about 2 years. Will I make it? follow me on  Instagram  and you will know.

3. Jacob’s Laukaitis

I am so glad I have bumped into Jacob’s channel, especially for this particular video about Mexico.

I always suggest renting a car and driving around this beautiful country as I believe it is the best way to explore it. I know it can be a little scary after all the news you hear about Mexico, but I have written an extensive post about  safety in Mexico  and how it is to  drive around Mexico , which will be helpful I am sure.

Anyway, for now, just enjoy Jacob’s video on his 28 days itinerary on the road.

4. Alex the Vagabond

Alex is taking you through his favorite travel destinations for the year 2020. (let’s take it as an omen that we can get back to travel soon).

Check it out.

5. Alex and Marko from Vagabrothers

Alex and Marko are two brothers (of course) who will inspire you with the most complete videos about the places they visit.

I love their style because it’s very simple with no fancy effect but they take you right inside all the cultural aspects of the destination, the history, the food, the people, it’s like listening to an audioguide while watching the pictures.

In the video I chose for you  they are taking us to Uzbekistan but you can check out all the other amazing videos from their channel.

Now sit back and relax for the next 20 minutes with the  Vagabrothers .

6. Ryan Shirley

I just found Ryan’s videos while browsing through YouTube and I loved them. They are very detailed with useful tips and spectacular images.  I could relate to him for being a slow traveler as he spent 3 years traveling around Europe and exploring his beautiful corners. In this video that I have picked, he tells us his favorite places in Europe.

7. Antoine Janssens

I love Antone’s style.

I have chosen his video on Costa Rica because I love wildlife, and the video is full of many details of the local species, portrayed in such a beautiful way. The music he uses helps create a dramatic scene that keeps you there with him. When the video is over, you feel like you want to see more. Check out the Life in the Artic video on his channel, mind-blowing.

In this exciting video, Alex Melis will take you around the world with breathtaking scenes of dreamy landscapes and adventurous trips. From snowcapped mountains to isolated waterfalls you can’t help but travel with your imagination.

Meli started to produce his videos for fun and is now a professional filmmaker. Check out his channel for more videos.

9. Tony Mcallister

I loved the way Tony portrayed Puerto Vallarta in this video. Spectacular close-ups on the local people and the city highlights, stunning time laps on sunsets, and bird eye view over the bay. This video has it all.

If you are planning a visit to Puerto Vallarta, check it out, but also you can read more on what to do and where to stay in my  Puerto Vallarta detailed guides.

10. Mind Boggler channel

You might want to skip this one if you have a fear of heights. In case it doesn’t bother you at least to watch a video, this is a  spectacular video on the most terrifying bridges of the world.

If you are not too sensitive, the scenes are indeed spectacular and worth watching.

Also, I am glad I found out about this channel, as they have so many interesting videos about extraordinary things and places in the world. Click on the “Mind Boggler” tag to see what other videos you may like.

And you? Are you afraid of heights or would you walk on one of those tall bridges without any fear?

11. Benn TK

Benn makes the most creative videos ever.

Do not get misled by the beginning because in every video it seems like he speaks about motivational stuff, but it’s just a few seconds, and then it’s all about the destination’s amazing sceneries, the people and the spectacular landscapes, all put together with amazing editing skills.

He uses many effects that are very well blended together and flow with the narrative structure of the video. You will love it. I was undecided about what to pick from his amazing videos. I chose Vietnam because it’s a place where I would love to travel one day, but I suggest you check the main page of his channel and watch them all.

12. Carlos Costa

Join Carlos and his crazy friends on their adventure in New Zealand. They will keep on the hook for the entire time. I couldn’t even breathe during the last scene. Got to check it out. Amazing videography, and now I want to go to New Zealand, maybe on a more tranquil journey.

13. Sailing Le Vagabond

A beautiful young couple sailing around the world on a romantic and adventurous trip.

What has started as an adventure it has now become their lifestyle. And now they even have a baby. They have amazing videos about their life on the water and the spectacular hidden gems they see. Watching their videos is like sailing away with them. Precious.

14. Mark Wiens

Mark is a travel Vlogger who loves chasing the unique culinary experience of the places he visits.

I chose this video about Pakistan because you can feel his enthusiasm for the delicious street food and the generosity of the people. His videos are genuine. He doesn’t focus on the transitions or other editing effects like many other videos that I shared.

Instead, he focuses more on the content and he takes you right inside the culture of the places he travels to.

It’s indeed one of my favorite travel Youtube channel to take virtual tours into the world.

15. Mark Harrison

Mark is taking us on his 12-day adventure in Turkey.

I love his style because he switches between some useful information, funny real-life scene,s and spectacular scenery.

His video feels really authentic with no frills or fancy effects, but still, I believe, of professional quality.

I really enjoy it and, guess what? I want to go to Turkey right now.

16. Luke Martin

If you love street food this is your vlog. Luke is going to take us through every sort of market and street food place in Asia and Europe.

He takes you on a journey through the local specialties, their taste, and how they are made.

Interesting to learn about local cuisine and their culture.

17. The food ranger

And among the foodie travel bloggers, The Food Ranger, aka Trevor James,  is one of the most popular with almost 4 million subscribers.

In this video that I have picked, he’s showing us how they make noodles. I would have never imagined that it was such a handy job. After seeing this I am not sure I will eat noodles again. He will for sure.

18. Eva Zu Beck

I have finally found a woman travel blogger that I really like.

She is real and passionate about the history and the cultural aspects of the amazing places that she visits as a solo traveler. She makes amazing videos without the need to show her boobs or butt. It resonates a lot with me because that’s the way I love to travel, immerse in the culture, alone among locals, and, when possible in lesser-known places.

And of course, alone. She does it in a Middle east country where for a woman traveling solo is not that easy.

I am sure you will love her videos as much as I do.

19. Kara and Nate

One of the most popular couple vloggers with more than 1 million subscribers.

Their videos are very personal but offer a good balance between their adventures and facts, not to mention the beautiful landscapes. Drones are the best inventions.

In the video that I chose they take us to a tiny little village in Norway where they stayed in a beautiful design hotel in the middle of nowhere.

20. Drew Binsky

Drew is a real storyteller, he explores the essence of the countries he visits and digs into the people’s stories.

It’s fun and interesting to watch.

His short captivating videos look more like documentary clips and I was not surprised when he announced that he will be making a 1-hour documentary that includes a few selected countries that he has visited (including Jamaica, one of my home countries).

I can’t wait to see it but in the meantime let’s watch this one that I have selected about a Jew village in Ethiopia.

21. Backpacker Steve

Steve’s videos are quite straightforward and less personal than the others.

I wished he added more music, but I liked the simplicity of his narrative and the fact that he offers useful facts about the places, besides his own personal itinerary.

I am sharing his video on Cartagena because it’s one of the cities of Colombia that I have loved so much for its spectacular architecture and colonial vibe.

I am sure you will love his other videos too.

22. Chris Rogers

Chris specializes in professional sports action videos, not something that all of us can relate to, but still, I wanted to share this one specifically because it includes its 2 years of traveling with spectacular effects and breathtaking transitions from one scene to the other.

You might lose some calories while watching it as it feels like you are skiing or surfing with them.

Worth watching just for that.

23. Sam Kold

motion pictures

This guy is an absolute genius in editing and filming.

Because you need to be good in both to be able to deliver something amazing like this video about The wall of China, but not only.

Don’t get misled by the title. He will take you around Beijing and you will explore the city with them, take cooking class, hope on a motorbike and mingle with the locals.

This video is absolutely phenomenal.

However, while I was browsing through his channel I found this other one here below which almost made me cry ( not easy). It’s the story of his life and how the loss of his brother has deeply affected him. It’s a work of art. So moving but beautiful.

24. Justin Poore

I’ve got to share this video because it’s about one of my favorite cities in Mexico and probably my future hometown.

Justin is there for only 1 day but he picked the best spots to share in his video. Check it out and fall in love with the colorful colonial Oaxaca.

25. Mr Brynnorth

Africa’s sceneries are unbeatable; you cannot go wrong.  In this video, you will see the magnificent landscapes and wildlife of Kenia portrayed beautifully by Mr. Brynnorth, whose real name I don’t know 🙂

26. Stefan Zimmerman

Welcome to the dreamlike scenery of Scotland.

If you are a fan of Outlander you will love this video, and if you are not a fan, you will love it anyway. The music is soothing and relaxing as well. There is no voice-over. So you can sit back and chill while watching the spectacular landscapes of the Island of Sky and the Highlands.

Do hashtags work on YouTube videos?

Yes, hashtags work on YouTube, but only if you have an idea of which one to use. When you have the right lists of hashtags, it can help improve your video reach on YouTube. Also, it makes your video available to a targeted audience interested in that particular topic, so make sure to use the ‘right’ hashtags for your video.

What hashtags are used to get more views on YouTube?

There are no perfect hashtags that guarantee that you get more views on your YouTube video. It is all about finding and using the right hashtags that are trending also relevant to your posts. For that reason, we have provided a separate list for each category or topic, and you have to pick the list as per your video content.

How to decide which hashtags to use on YouTube?

Using hashtags on YouTube is a good strategy. But you don’t want to overdo it. To make it work for you, make sure that you choose the hashtags that are relevant and popular on the topic. Importantly, using three or max five hashtags on YouTube is just enough to give an algorithm idea about your video topic.

3 Important Factors

There could be multiple things you verify in your checklist while posting a new video but you also need to understand 3 YouTube variables while posting a new video:

Keyword tool youtube hashtags 4

Things You Should Not Do While Choosing YouTube Tags:

1. do not stuff your video with hashtags.

You must only use around three hashtags. If you have been using more than that, then the YouTube algorithm ignores your videos because it’s not useful for the viewer anymore. As for tags, it is recommended to use around 5 to 8 tags in your description.

2. Never use unrelated tags, even once

Imagine you run a cooking channel and you see a new trend based hashtag; it feels tempting to use the same tag but it’s recommended to not use irrelevant tags as you may be targeting wrong people with the same. If you have already done something like this, do check it out and remove unnecessary hashtags.

3. Do not use illegal tags

You should not use any illicit words as tags. You can check out more info from YouTube’s policies on that, but a basic rule of thumb is to use those words only, which a platform can promote without any obligations.

4. Do not use space in your hashtags

Your hashtags must be without any whitespaces. Even if it is a two word like ‘Cute Cats’, you must use the ‘#CuteCats’ hashtag only. This is a big mistake many YouTubers make.

Things You Should Do While Using YouTube Hashtags:

1. use a simple and unique personal hashtag.

Many new channels that blew up have done this and they say this mehtod helped them a lot to create a brand. Make sure your name is short and catchy . Moreover, use that name in all of your videos. Search for it on YouTube to find out if it already represents any other brand.

2. Use Hashtags in Description and Video

Try using one main keyword which can be long. Use it especially in the title of your video, This helps in improving rank as keywords are mentioned in the title. No doubt, a better rank increases subscribers and views.

3. Using Broad Tags Can Make it Better

Use broad tags with your video, you can easily search them on a keyword tool website. Go on the website, enter a related word and then you can get a list of hashtags for the video.

4. Practice Using Alternative Tags for your YouTube Channel

It would help if you used some alternative tags on your channel as well, but don’t use too many as adding just 2 tags should do the job.

Examples of YouTube Hashtags

Considering an example, I want to talk about this channel which blew up recently. James Jani is a YouTuber based in Europe. He does not do crazy camera angles or anything, nor does he use any big equipment. Instead, he records in a minimum-cost setup right in his house.

Youtube james jani

What did he do?

He picked a single niche and targeted tags, keywords, hashtags around that niche. Niche means a specialized market , tech is a broad niche and tech reviews for phones is a narrowed niche. Niche is the current trend of YouTube. James Jani’s niche includes business and he started making content as user-friendly as possible. You may know this. But you can seriously hurt your views if you are going to change your tags frequently. Tags define your video and by changing tags, YouTube algorithms won’t be able to determine your specific niche . The next important thing he does is speak your keyword or tags in your YouTube video at least two times. Another example I want to show you is of Dream’s channel which blew up recently. The channel name is Dream, which is one of the fastest-growing gaming channels. The dream is the best example of using YouTube tags in the best way. In one of his videos, he says that he has seen hundreds of videos and read blogs, And following all the strategies of tagging, he was the perfect definition of YouTube success.

Miami tag agency clerk accused in $3 million title fraud scheme

Chris Gothner , Digital Journalist

Liane Morejon , Reporter

MIAMI – A woman who worked as a clerk at a Miami tag agency is facing 36 felony charges for what prosecutors said was her role in a multi-million-dollar title fraud scheme involving at least a dozen stolen vehicles.

According to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, the investigation began during a chop shop bust in Doral on Jan. 12.

Recommended Videos

A Tuesday news release states that police responded to 5161 NW 79th Ave. after a stolen vehicle pinged inside the auto shop; after detectives obtained a search warrant, they found three stolen vehicles, “including a 2022 Lamborghini Urus, a 2023 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz G550 and two fraudulent VIN plates.”

Police arrested the owner of the chop shop, whom prosecutors did not immediately identify Tuesday.

That’s when the investigation turned to Katherine M. Vera Moran, prosecutors said. They said detectives discovered the 27-year-old’s role in the auto theft operation after they questioned the auto shop owner.

Vera Moran, prosecutors said, worked as a clerk at Baumgardner Auto Tag Agency, located at 1375 NW 36th St. in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood.

Prosecutors said that Vera Moran, of northwest Miami-Dade, forged titles and tax documents on stolen vehicles, receiving $800 to $1,000 in cash or Cash App payments for each fraudulent title transaction.

“The investigation exposed Vera Moran’s frequent manipulation of VINs associated with total loss vehicles, such as transferring a 2020 White Jeep Gladiator, deemed a total loss due to extensive fire damage, to a salvage rebuilt title appearing in perfect condition,” the SAO news release states.

Authorities said 18 vehicles were recovered and/or positively identified with altered VINs, of which 12 were “confirmed to be stolen” and processed by Vera Moran.

Those vehicles were worth about $3,385,000 combined, prosecutors said.

An arrest report states that Doral police arrested Vera Moran at the tag agency Monday morning.

Police said during an interview with detectives, she said “it was not her job to verify the documents that she processes and that she is not a police officer,” and that she “just simply generates the documents for the vehicles based on the paperwork and titles she receives and she has no way of verifying the authenticity of the documents,” claiming she only deals with “dealership requests.”

The report states that when a detective informed her that most of the titles went to individuals, she said she “sometimes takes personal requests from clients who only want to deal with her” and said she “sometimes receives tips from her clients” of around $200 via Cash App.

Police said Vera Moran consented to a phone search, where detectives found “multiple photos of drivers’ licenses and title documents.”

“Fraudulent title transfers not only deceive the system but inflict profound harm on victims who suffer the loss of property and insurance companies who are forced to cover theft claims,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in the news release. “Such crimes can have a lasting and detrimental impact on our community, costing the hardworking citizens of Miami-Dade County by driving up car insurance premiums.”

The release states that SAO investigators worked with Doral and Miami police, along with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Miami-Dade tax collector’s office, to make the arrest.

“Our team of detectives worked diligently with the State Attorney’s Office and our law enforcement partners to target, infiltrate, and dismantle a criminal enterprise and I am grateful for their exemplary service,” Doral police Chief Edwin Lopez said, in part, in the release.

Vera Moran is facing 18 counts each of official misconduct and title fraud.

“This is a very active case, but we’ve been able to put a significant dent in it,” Lopez said during a news conference Tuesday.

According to jail records, the Ecuadorian national was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was being held on a $50,000 bond.

Those records show she was also already out on felony bond on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash causing no serious injury and she also remains jailed on a magistrate hold.

The Best Men’s Running Shorts, According to Runners

youtube travel tags

In this article

  • Brief-lined shorts
  • 2-in-1 shorts

Half tights

The Strategist happens to be full of runners, so this week, we hit the ground running (literally), testing tons of running gear and interviewing experts to give every kind of runner all the intel they might need. Welcome to  Running Week .

Running shorts have the power to make a run fantastic or ruin it. In my 15 years of running, I’ve tested shorts that feel like a second skin, while others have left me chafed, wedgied, and uncomfortable. Much like a good pair of gym shorts , the ideal pair of men’s running shorts will offer support, but not feel too restrictive; its material should be thin and breathable, but able to withstand everything from the occasional jog to a season of marathon training; and lastly, it should look good.

There are generally three types of running shorts: the most common have a classic brief liner — a good choice if you want something non-restrictive; boxer-brief lined shorts have a longer liner that hugs the thighs; and half-tights can come in lined or unlined options. For any type, one of the most important features for runners is storage: you need pockets to hold your gels, keys, phone, and other items that you take with you. Purely because of their design, many brief-liner running shorts simply don’t have the pockets available to carry a lot of gear. Two-in-one shorts, with their boxer-brief style liners, have more pocket options, but sometimes the liner on these shorts is loose and can feel more like a semi-tight pair of underwear. That’s where half tights come in — they offer a more compressive feeling that eliminates any jostling, and are a great option if you need upwards of four pockets to carry multiple gels for long races like marathons.

After testing close to two dozen different pairs, I’ve landed on some favorites that I would heartily recommend to runners of all levels. Below, you’ll find my picks, as well as top selections from running experts who have logged countless miles in multiple pairs themselves.

Brief-lined running shorts

Tracksmith Session Shorts

If you’re looking for a daily workhorse of a short, I’d recommend the Session. I’ve worn both the five- and seven-inch versions of the Session since 2019 for all types of runs, from daily training sessions to track workouts and long runs, and they have shown no signs of wear. Much like the rest of the brand’s apparel, the Session has a collegiate aesthetic with a uniform-like cut, but it has a buttery-soft texture that makes it great for lounging around in, too. It’s also a favorite of Citius Mag founder Chris Chavez .

Nike Flex Stride 5

I’ve been running in my pair of five-inch Nike shorts since 2013, and that longevity is one of the reasons why they’re one of my most frequently recommended shorts . They’re not as soft as the Tracksmith shorts, but Nike’s technical fabric is lighter and slightly more breathable, which makes these great for hot days. Since the shorts have a brief liner, their pocket options are limited to a single zip pocket on the back. But that simplicity is why Danny Perez , a New York City–based editor and marathoner, prefers these shorts for fast workouts. “I use them for shorter distances or speed stuff when I run with my phone in-hand to check pace or times,” he says.

Rabbit Men's Core Sunset Splitz 2

Matt Klein, DPT, professor of physical therapy at West Coast University Center for Graduate Studies, and founder of the blog Doctors of Running , prefers a shorter inseam, reminiscent of racing shorts. “I go through a ton of shorts,” Klein says. “ I am highly biased toward short split shorts.” One of his favorites right now is the Core Sunset Splitz two-inch shorts. “For those of us who wear race day-type shorts every day, this has been a great option,” he says. “The two internal key pockets are also important, as storage is a must!”

Two-in-one running shorts

Bandit Running Litewave 5

As I wrote in my roundup of the best gym shorts , these five-inch inseam shorts are my new favorites after testing them for two seasons of marathon training. The standout feature is the fabric, which is surprisingly breathable for how smooth and silky it feels (typical tech fabrics with this texture aren’t normally as airy). The Litewave’s boxer-brief-style liner doesn’t bunch up, and it has a zippered back pocket, plus a hidden phone pocket on the thigh. The Litewave’s liner fits me a bit looser than a pair of half-tights would, so keep that in mind if you like a more compressed feel — or want a more secure pocket for your phone (my phone jostles around in the thigh pocket). Mike Ko, a running shoe reviewer known online as Kofuzi , is a fan of the Litewave. “It’s got a super comfy liner that is stretchy yet somehow able to still hold a phone. The outer shell is light and flowy and feels great for fast runs and easy summer days alike,” he says.

Ciele Athletics Men’s DLY Short - Long Brief

These five-inch-inseam shorts from Ciele have been in my regular rotation of running shorts for the past eight months. Their longer, stretchy polyester liner feels soft and breathable, especially on sweaty runs. (I find the liner more comfortable than some of my boxer briefs, which is why I wear these when lounging around at home, too.) These shorts have a zippered back pocket plus a hidden phone pocket on the thigh.

Bandit Vento 4” 2-In-1 Shorts

Similar to the Litewave shorts above, these four-inch inseam shorts from Bandit combine a breathable outer fabric with a comfortable boxer-brief liner. Perez prefers these four-inch shorts for the majority of his running because of the Vento’s storage options (two hand pockets, two thigh pockets, and a back zippered pocket). “The phone pockets on the liner are great,” he says.

Janji Men’s 8” Trail Half Tights

These half tights from Janji are the best I’ve tried because of their lightweight feel and smart storage options. I’ve run half-marathons and 10Ks in them, and have used them for daily training in the winter and summer. They have two deep thigh pockets that work well for phones or bigger gels, and two other thigh pockets on top of them for smaller items like additional nutrition. Perez says these tights turned him into a half-tight evangelist, and noted that he’s used them for long runs and his last two marathons. [ Note: They’re a runner favorite and frequently sell out. Keep an eye out for restocks, but also check retailers like REI and Fleet Feet . ]

Rabbit Speedsters Half Tights - Men

I’ve been on a yearlong hunt for a pair of half-tights that don’t chafe. (With all that compression, there’s bound to be rubbing down below, especially over the length of a run). While I haven’t found the perfect pair — I’m not sure one exists — these unlined half-tights from Rabbit come very close. Their polyester-spandex feels soft on the skin in a way that doesn’t feel as tech-y as other sport fabrics, and their fit feels secure throughout the whole thigh. Mike Ko agrees: “It fits great, with just the right amount of compression. And it’s got enough pockets to carry all your gels for the marathon.” It has two thigh pockets and a back zippered pocket that’s actually big enough to fit a phone.

Tracksmith Men’s Allston Half Tights (Lined)

I run hot. In colder months, I prefer running in shorts or half tights, but still want them in a more substantial fabric while training so I don’t freeze, especially while I’m taking rest breaks in between laps on a track workout. The Allston is the pair I reach for because it has a thick, nylon-elastane fabric and a compressive fit. They have a brief liner (and are available unlined as well), which offers another level of support to keep everything in place. They also have grippy gel-like bands around the thighs that keep them from riding up, which is why I prefer them for fast track workouts and speed work, where there’s a lot of movement, and where I don’t want to worry about my shorts getting in the way of my stride. Much like the Trackmith’s Session shorts, I’ve found the Allston half tights to be supremely durable — the most durable out of the half tights in my rotation.

Everything we know about X-Men ’97 season 2

The hit animated series revival will return

Cyclops looks at the camera in a badass way, flanked by Jean Grey and Morph, in X-Men ’97.

X-Men ’97 closed out its first season in the glorious, traditional way of its forebear, X-Men: The Animated Series . That is to say, with a wild cliffhanger.

But unlike the last season of The Animated Series , which saw Professor Xavier leaving Earth to (presumably) die of wounds sustained in battle with anti-mutant forces, X-Men ’97 won’t take 27 years to follow up.

Is X-Men ’97 getting a second season?

Yes! X-Men ’97 ’s second season was greenlit in back in 2022, and production on it is already largely wrapped, with Marvel Animation spinning up production on a third season as well.

It’s a good time to be a fan of the X-Men in animation!

What will X-Men ’97 season 2 be about?

Summoner, Cable, Apocalypse, Rachel Grey, Monet St. Crox, and Beast face a horde of monsters, as the faces of the Four Horsemen loom in the clouds behind them, on the cover of X of Swords: Creation #1, Marvel Comics (2020).

In a word: Apocalypse. The final episode of season 1 left the X-Men separated across three different time periods following the destruction of Magneto’s floating base, Asteroid M. This doesn’t seem to have been intentional on their part — the time-stranded X-Men seem flummoxed by it, and as Bishop describes it, “something or someone yanked our friends through time.” Being a time traveler himself, Bishop would know.

So the second season of X-Men ’97 looks to be separating itself into three plot lines — at least to start with — set in Egypt’s ancient past, Earth’s far future, and the present day. And if we bring in some X-Men comics knowledge, it’s clear that all of these plots arc back to the villain Apocalypse.

How does En Sabah Nur become Apocalypse?

En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) stands in a desert holding a staff. He’s got his characteristic grey skin, blue face markings, and red eyes.

Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, Professor X, and Magento seem to be stranded in the ancient past, just in time to interact with the origin story of Apocalypse. The big, blue-faced X-Men villain who believes mutantkind must be put through rigorous “survival of the fittest”-based challenges in order to claim their dominance over humans began his immortal existence as an ancient Egyptian man.

Who is Mother Askani?

Mother Askani with her followers in X-Men ’97. She has a long, grey braid, red facial markins, and is wearing a purple, hooded robe, from which her eyes look, piercingly.

Cyclops and Jean are stranded 2,000 years in the future, in the time of Clan Askani, a group of rebel fighters resisting the ( ahem ) post-apocalyptic rule of Apocalypse. In the comics, the Askani’s timeline is where baby Cable was sent, in the hopes that the future might hold the cure to his techno-organic virus, and Cable was received there as a kind of messianic child — his time-travel confirmed destiny being to put an end to Apocalypse’s reign.

Also , in the comics, Mother Askani (who is actually Scott and Jean’s grown-up daughter from yet another timeline, but don’t worry about it) used her own mutant gift of time manipulation to pull Cyclops and Jean into the future so that they could actually raise their own son there, before returning to the present day as if no time had passed. Cable’s presence here — as the teenage Nathan — indicates that X-Men ’97 will be taking its own swing at that story, called The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix .

What will Apocalypse do next?

Apocalypse’s hand, with one of Gambit’s burnt playing cards — the queen of hearts — nestled in it.

Season 1’s finale credits scene brings us back to Apocalypse in the present, and gives us a big hint at the future of all those really juicy, loved, or love-to-hate X-Men characters — like Gambit, Emma Frost, and Sebastian Shaw — who died on Genosha.

“So much pain, my children,” Apocalypse orates over one of Gambit’s playing cards. “So much death .” The odds of Apocalypse striking back at humanity for the fall of Genosha seem likely, and that he’ll resurrect some of Genosha’s dead as his Four Horsemen seems inevitable.

So as the X-Men search for their friends from the present, its seems they’ll have to contest with Apocalypse’s plans as well.

Oh and then there’s the matter of Wolverine’s bones .

When does X-Men ’97 season 2 come out?

Work on the season 2 finale had already begun as of July 2023 , and development on a third season was soon to begin as of this past March . Before beginning production on season 3, however, Marvel Animation will be searching for a new showrunner, after the studio “ parted ways ” with writer Beau DeMayo .

That being the case, and judging from how Disney usually spaces out its Disney Plus offerings, it seems likely we could see X-Men ’97 season 2 in 2025.
