April 16th, 2018: RVer reports that Overnight RV Parking is allowed, confirming 11 earlier reports from Dec 2006 thru Dec 2017. Park in one of ~ 10 marked RV spaces near auto/RV fuel pumps. Two RVers report many non-RVs parked in these spaces; early arrival recommended in order to get one of these spaces. Do not park in truck parking area unless directed by Flying J. Level, well lighted. One RVer calls it the noisiest truck stop they've experienced, but that staff was very friendly & RVer felt very safe. Dump station, $10. Propane available. Laundry on site. Denny's restaurant on site; hot food & pizza also available in Flying J convenience store. NOTE: As of June, 2020, this Truck Stop was on a list of 'high risk' locations, due to the frequency of truck cargo thefts and truck payload hijackings. Birmingham Airport suspends flights after ‘security incident’ on Aer Lingus plane

Birmingham Airport was forced to suspend all flights after a security incident onboard an Aer Lingus plane.

The Irish airline later confirmed that an undeclared item was discovered but was proven not to be a security risk, after it was examined when the aircraft returned to the airport.

Passengers were encouraged to still turn up if they have a flight scheduled, with the airline working to accommodate impacted travellers.

Footage shared on social media of the scene showed multiple emergency vehicles on the runway, with several flights delayed as a result of the incident.

An Aer Lingus spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that an undeclared item discovered on Aer Lingus Regional flight EI3647, operated by Emerald Airlines, from Birmingham to Belfast today was not a security risk. Our teams are currently working to accommodate impacted passengers’.

The flight, which is understood to be EI3647, had been due to depart at 3.10pm but was delayed for 40 minutes. Just an hour into its journey to Belfast, it returned to the airport with the passengers and staff escorted from the aircraft.

West Midlands Railway have also said that trains between Birmingham New Street and Coventry have also been suspended while emergency services attend the incidents. Services are currently at a standstill until further notice.

National Rail said lines have now reopened but trains may still be cancelled, delayed or diverted, with issues expected until 7pm.

A Birmingham Airport spokesperson said: “Birmingham Airport has temporarily suspended operations due to a security incident on an aircraft.

“The aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew have disembarked.

“All customers due to travel should make their way to the airport and check in as normal.”
