CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS
CUSTOMIZED JUST FOR US We knew a Caribbean cruise would be an amazing vacation, but this truly exceeded our expectations. Traveling with a son with special needs, we were really concerned about accessibility, but we were taken care of from the moment we landed in Miami throughout our entire cruise. The attention to detail was incredible, our agent really thought of absolutely everything so we never had to worry about a thing. Being able to relax and seeing our son smile was worth every penny.
A BANG FOR OUR BUCK If you’ve never used an agent before, I HIGHLY recommend starting now. We actually SAVED money and because our agent has VIP status with the cruise line, we ended up being upgraded to a suite on the opposite side of the ship so we had amazing views of the coast every single time we pulled into port. We should have been using an agent long ago. After sipping our coffee in our pajamas watching the sun rise over the Mediterranean from our veranda, we will never go back to booking on our own ever again.
CRUISING SPAIN, FRANCE, ITALY & GREECE My husband and I really wanted to do a Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon, but we really had no idea where to start and researching options was so overwhelming. We had never used an agent before, but we will never go back to trying to plan our own vacations after this. Our agent knew the perfect cruise right away. She arranged a three-day tour in Barcelona before we departed on our cruise and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From sending us all our documents in advance to staff knowing our names as soon as we showed up, our agent made it all so easy.

BUCKET LIST AFRICAN SAFARI I can’t recommend our agent enough!! We just returned from a two-week safari in Africa. We visited three countries with ten different stops like Masai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti National Park and more. Considering all the planning that went into this trip for transfers and accommodations in each stop, our agent didn’t just pull it off, she made it a bucket list trip we will never forget. We couldn’t have done this without her and will definitely be using her again. We can’t wait to start planning our next trip!
DREAM WEDDING IN MEXICO I’ve always wanted to have a destination wedding, but I never thought it would be possible. Our agent made that dream a reality and we got married on a picturesque secluded beach in Riviera Maya with enough of our budget left over to plan a separate honeymoon. I was SO impressed with everything she did. Not only did our agent get a special rate for our family members to stay at the same resort, she also surprised us with a special sunset catamaran cruise as a wedding gift and even sent little gifts for the bridal party! All the personal touches made it really special.

The next total solar eclipse won’t happen until 2026

I was unfortunately outside the path of totality when the April 2024 eclipse happened, but the small partial eclipse I did get to see was still beautiful. For those like me who missed totality this time around, catching the next total solar eclipse might not sound like a bad idea, except if you’re in the U.S., you’re going to need to travel to see it.
While the next Great American Solar eclipse isn’t expected to happen until the 2040s, those who want another chance at seeing totality will be pleased to know that parts of Greenland, Iceland, Russia, and even some of Portugal and Spain will get to see a total solar eclipse in August of 2026.
If none of those destinations seem like a hit, you can also wait until 2027 for a chance at totality, as a total solar eclipse is expected to hit Egypt on August 2, 2027. That eclipse should pass right over the site of the great pyramids. And it will last more than six minutes, making it a prime opportunity to catch the eclipse at a great spot.

But the next total solar eclipse isn’t the only thing that stargazers and skywatchers have to look forward to. A total lunar eclipse is also expected to hit the 48 lower states, including all of Hawaii and parts of Alaska, in 2025. Sure, it isn’t as spectacular as a total solar eclipse, but it won’t require any traveling to see this cosmic event.

Flying with pets? Here's what to know.
By Anne Marie Lee
Edited By Alain Sherter
Updated on: April 6, 2024 / 10:08 AM EDT / CBS News
Thinking of taking your dog or cat with you the next time you fly? For a growing percentage of the 90.5 million pet owners in the U.S., the answer is yes. But while the notion of boarding a plane with your pet may seem simple, the rules and restrictions around traveling with an animal can be confusing.
Eight major U.S. airlines allow pets to fly in-cabin as carry-ons. But flying with your pet takes research and planning, as pet policies vary from airline to airline, are steeped in restrictions, and are limited to specific countries and cities. You'll also have to pay an extra fee for your pet ranging from $95 to $200, depending on the airline and where you're flying. And restrictions often change.
For example, American Airlines recently revised its policies so passengers flying with pets may also bring one full-size carry-on or personal item. But the carrier prohibits carry-on pets on transatlantic and transpacific flights. Here's what you need to know when considering taking your fur baby with you on a plane.
Cargo, check-in or carry-on?
Most airlines offer three options for transporting animals: cargo, check-in or carry-on. But if your pet is larger than a bread box, your options are limited to the cargo or baggage check-in options, with very few exceptions.
Given that large canine breeds such as Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers are among the most popular dogs in the country, the size restriction for in-cabin pet travel can be a major frustration for those who would rather not fly at all if that means putting their pet in cargo.
A 2023 Forbes Adviser survey of 10,000 U.S. dog owners found that 33% of respondents fly with their pets, while 37% listed not being able to bring their dog on a plane as their biggest annoyance. (You can learn more about the differences between cargo, check-in and carry-on options here , including warnings about the dangers involved when pets travel in the cargo hold.)
Carry-on pets
Even for pet owners whose animals are small enough to fly as a carry-on, traveling is no breeze.
"When I fly with him I have to go to the desk," Margaret Rauch, 44, told CBS MoneyWatch, referring to her 15-pound poodle mix, Soda. The New York City resident has taken Soda on dozens of flights to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Soda, now 4, was being fostered by a friend after being found as a stray puppy in 2021.
In addition to calling the airline in advance to register her dog for a flight, Rauch has to check in at the counter whenever she's traveling with Soda, so the airline agent can confirm her dog and pet carrier conform to the in-cabin pet requirements and that the flight hasn't already met its pet maximum.
Rauch, who said she would never consider putting Soda in cargo, applauded American Airlines' new policy, while noting that in her experience the one carry-on rule was rarely enforced.
"I feel the price is already high for what I get. Even with AA's rule change, I lose the underseat space," she said. "My dog creates no extra work for anyone."
Despite the added preparation, paperwork and hassle involved in flying with Soda — not to mention the unfriendly looks she occasionally detects from fellow passengers at the sight of her pet carrier — Rauch said, "It's absolutely worth it."
Asked how the experience could be improved, she pointed to early boarding for pet owners as something that would help.
"If you can get in early, get a seat and settle down, that is an accommodation I don't expect to see anytime soon but I think it makes sense," Rauch said.
Safety and comfort
For the many Americans who see their pets practically as family members, one of the most challenging aspects of flying is ensuring their animal's comfort and safety.
"The increasing humanization of pets, which involves treating them as part of the family rather than as mere animals, has increased the demand for pet travel services that are of high quality and can be customized to meet the specific needs of each pet," LinkedIn reported in December.
Among other tips, the U.S. Department of Transportation and animal experts recommend that you not feed your pet four to six hours before a flight and limit their water intake. Others also suggest keeping bottled water on hand at all times. Additionally, most airlines require certain vaccination and vet certification that your pet is healthy enough to fly. Individual countries also have their own requirements for pets to enter.
Not surprisingly, some airlines do better than others at handling pets. One of the best-rated carriers for pet travel is Alaska Airlines, which has repeatedly topped rankings, such as NerdWallet's Most pet-friendly airlines of 2024. In recent years, the airline also has maintained one of the industry's lowest incident ratings, according to Veterinarians.org. United Airlines and Delta are among the airlines with the highest incident rates, according to the pet information website.
On Rauch's first plane trip with Soda traveling home to New York, a layover in Miami led to the flight sitting on the tarmac for two hours. Calming treats are something that helps keeps her dog relaxed on flights. She also withholds Soda's food and limits his water intake up to five hours before a flight, which is also helpful given that he doesn't like using pet relief areas, which she said generally smell of urine and can be overwhelming for dogs. Flights between New York City and St. Croix are generally under six hours.
"I'm not sure how I'd handle a flight to Singapore," Rauch said.
Here's a rundown of U.S. airlines' pet travel policies, along with fees and and restrictions:

St. Petersburg Russia Tours
St. Petersburg is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. It was built on a collection of islands where the Neva River meets the Gulf of Finland and is divided further by a system of canals earning the city the name the Venice of the North. St. Petersburg was referred to as Peter the Great’s Window to the West because the great Tsar and reformer Peter the First designed the city to be Russia’s most European. The European feeling of the city is as true today as it was during the early 1700s. The embankments and boulevards are full of 18th and 19th century palaces of the nobility giving St. Petersburg an almost fairytale atmosphere. The historical city center is huge and dominated by the Winter Palace (former residence of the Tsars) which now houses the world famous Hermitage Museum . St. Petersburg Russia indeed is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities on earth. Our company is based in St. Petersburg, Russia allowing us to offer the widest variety of St. Petersburg Russia tours and excursions available on the Internet. All of our tours are designed so that our guests experience maximum enjoyment and become immersed in the culture and history of this great, Russian city. All our tours are private and can be fully customized upon your request. You can either choose one of our ready-made packages or create your own. Because we are locally based, we can offer excellent prices and the most knowledgeable guides in the city.
St. Petersburg – a Historical Gem
The city has witnessed some of the most dramatic and important moments in Russian history since its founding in 1703 by Peter the Great , making the city especially important for curious travelers coming to Russia. St. Petersburg was the scene of the Decembrist uprising , the famous court of Tsarina Catherine the Great , the assassination of Tsar Pavel and Alexander II and the home of Rasputin , the Siberian mystic. The last Tsar, Nicholas the II, was overthrown at the Winter Palace and the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution and Lenin brought communism to power here. After the revolution, the name of the city was changed to Leningrad. During the Second World War, Leningrad was under siege and fully blockaded by the Nazis for almost 3 years, resulting in the deaths of up to 1.5 million of its citizens. Our St. Petersburg tours take you to the places associated with many of these events and more.

Brilliant and budget-friendly
Alabama: Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham
Recognized as the top gallery in the state, this artistic treasure trove holds more than 27,000 items. It has been welcoming art lovers since 1885, with pieces ranging from indigenous works to those hailing from all over Europe, Asia and Africa. Make time to see the Charles W. Ireland Sculpture Garden in the upper plaza. A permanent exhibition, it spreads over 13,000 square feet (1,207sqm) – the focus is a towering water feature designed by renowned American sculptor Elyn Zimmerman.
Alaska: Flattop Mountain, near Anchorage
Denali may be Alaska's most famous peak, but Flattop Mountain is hailed as the 'most climbed' pinnacle in the state. You'll need to pay a fee to get up close to the former, but the latter can be scaled free of charge, and it offers panoramic views of valleys and mighty peaks including Denali itself. The vertiginous trail is 1.5 miles (2.4km) to the top, but the vistas are more than worth the effort. (Note that while it's free to climb the peak, you may be required to pay a parking fee.)
Arizona: Camelback Mountain, Maricopa County
A stone's throw from downtown Phoenix, the much-visited Camelback Mountain rises 2,704 feet (824m) into the sky. The peak's proximity to the city – not to mention the epic views from its summit – makes it one of the most popular hikes in the area. Be prepared though: both the mountain's trails – Echo Canyon and Cholla – are pretty strenuous, and you'll need a good base level of fitness to complete them. Rest assured they're worth it though.
Arkansas: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville
This shrine to American art has been in Bentonville since 2005. Big names here include Georgia O'Keefe and Andy Warhol, and there's also a cavernous library filled with 50,000 reference books about art and design. The building is fit for purpose too – its unique design, with bold concrete blocks and a sloping copper roof, was the brainchild of leading Canadian architect Moshe Safdie.

It's a nice photo op before an afternoon at the beach.
Georgia: Forsyth Park, Savannah

It's a dreamy spot for an afternoon stroll, its 30 acres flanked by trees and laced with shady pathways offering refuge from the Georgia heat. You can explore most of its gloriously sandy expanse for free – only West Beach charges a fee for vehicles.
Iowa: Iowa State Capitol, Des Moines
Iowa's ornate state capitol can be found in downtown Des Moines, and it's as informative as it is beautiful. The grounds are also dotted with interesting monuments, including a poignant holocaust memorial.
Kansas: Great Plains Nature Center, Wichita
This Wichita nature center is packed full of exhibits covering the wildlife of the Great Plains. Koch Habitat Hall is at its heart, documenting the history of the prairie and the ecosystem here today. See the website for tour updates.
Louisiana: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve
Named after notorious French pirate Jean Lafitte, this sprawling preserve, made up of several distinct sites, is packed to the brim with both history and nature. If you don't want to spend a single dollar, wandering along the boulevard, listening to the music pouring from the venues, is completely free.

Washington: North Cascades National Park
Beautiful North Cascades – with its lakes, glaciers, mountains and dense forestland – is one of the most underrated sites in the national park system, and among the 10 least visited. When you consider the fact that the park is entirely free, this fact becomes all the more mystifying. Pictured is Diablo Lake, in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area.

OTTAWA — Canadians are being told to avoid all travel to Israel and the West Bank because of the “unpredictable security situation” in the region.
Global Affairs Canada says there is a heightened risk of attacks on Israeli territory, while tensions and violence are high in the West Bank.
Palestinian health officials say a Palestinian man was killed and 25 others were hurt today after dozens of angry Israeli settlers stormed into a village in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, shooting and setting houses and cars on fire.
Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says the regional security situation remains highly volatile and could escalate without notice.
She says Canadians should consider leaving the area by commercial means.
The updated travel guidance comes less than two weeks after seven aid workers with the World Central Kitchen, including a dual Canadian-American citizen, were killed when an Israeli airstrike hit their convoy while they were delivering food in the Gaza Strip.

CBP Announces Next Phase in Fight Targeting Criminals Funneling Fentanyl into American Communities
NOGALES , AZ – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) today announced that it will lead an expanded, multi-agency effort to target the transnational criminals funneling fentanyl from Mexico into American communities. Operation Plaza Spike targets the cartels that facilitate the flow of deadly fentanyl, as well as its analogs and precursors and tools to make the drugs. It is designed to disrupt operations in the “plazas,” cartel territories located directly south of the United States that are natural logistical chokepoints within the cartels’ operations. This is the next phase in CBP’s Strategy to Combat Fentanyl and Other Synthetic Drugs , a whole-of-government and international effort to anticipate, identify, mitigate, and disrupt illicit synthetic drug producers, suppliers, and traffickers.
Operation Plaza Spike will employ multiple tactics, including seizing illicit proceeds and scrutinizing related cross-border business entities and cross-border trade. Operation Plaza Spike includes releasing the name of the plazas’ senior ranking cartel officials, the “plaza bosses,” to increase public and law enforcement pressure on them. Plaza bosses control and profit from all illicit activity through the plaza – extortion, kidnapping, as well as the smuggling of humans, dangerous drugs, and firearms. CBP will leverage partnerships, authorities, and resources of other government agencies in our efforts to gather intelligence, disrupt and degrade illicit operations, and deliver legal consequences.
“So long as fentanyl and other illicit opioids wreak tragedy across American communities, the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security will remain unrelenting in their work stopping these deadly drugs from hitting our streets and taking lives,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas. “Operation Plaza Spike is a critical step in our ongoing whole-of-Department campaign to directly attack the transnational criminal organizations that peddle narcotics, death, and destruction for profit. We are sparing no effort to dismantle cartels and ensure everyone from kingpins to plaza bosses are brought to justice.”
CBP’s first target is the Nogales Plaza, located directly south of the border crossing at Nogales, Arizona. Sergio Valenzuela Valenzuela, aka Gio, the Nogales Plaza boss, was indicted by a federal grand jury in 2018 for his role as a Sinaloa Cartel Plaza Boss .
“We are entering the next phase in our fight against fentanyl: one where we are going after the plaza bosses, whose organizations are responsible for virtually everything that is smuggled into the United States. By targeting them for enforcement action, we can directly impact their operations and ability to traffic fentanyl into the United States, which makes its way into communities all across the country,” said Troy A. Miller, CBP Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Commissioner. “Sergio Valenzuela Valenzuela is the first plaza boss that we target, but he won’t be the last. Just as the men and women of CBP are steadfast in the fight against fentanyl - will be unrelenting in our pursuit of those people and organizations that threaten the safety and security of our people and our country.”
Valenzuela Valenzuela and his organization allegedly are responsible for moving thousands of pounds of fentanyl to the U.S. border. Nearly every day, CBP officers intercept fentanyl headed from Valenzuela Valenzuela’s plaza northbound through CBP ports of entry onward to cities across the United States.
Operation Plaza Spike is just the latest effort by CBP, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), as part of this Administration’s efforts to stem the flow illicit opioids, including fentanyl, and cracking down on the Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) that traffic them. Through a whole-of-government effort, the Department has stopped more illicit fentanyl and arrested more individuals for fentanyl-related crimes in the last two fiscal years than in the previous five years combined.
CBP is also in the midst of Operation Apollo, and announced today that it will expand into Arizona to continue gathering and utilizing intelligence, and focusing on state and local partnerships to interdict fentanyl. Operation Apollo was launched by CBP in Southern California in October 2023 as a counter-fentanyl joint operation. CBP has evaluated the successes and lessons learned from Operation Apollo, and Operation Apollo – Arizona is now replicating it within the Arizona corridor, integrating all local law enforcement resources in Arizona to interdict finished fentanyl products, illicit precursor chemicals, adulterants, pill press equipment, illicit proceeds, and weapons.
In addition to CBP’s efforts to target operations that move fentanyl north, as well as guns south, CBP will be leveraging partnerships, authorities, and resources of other government agencies.
In 2023, DEA seized a record 79.5 million fentanyl pills and nearly 12,000 pounds of fentanyl powder. Throughout Arizona the DEA Phoenix Field Division seized more than 42 million fentanyl pills last year.
“Fentanyl is the deadliest drug threat our nation has ever faced. The men and women of DEA are relentlessly focused on saving lives by defeating the two cartels responsible for the majority of fentanyl and methamphetamine poisoning our communities – the Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels.” said DEA Administrator Anne Milgram . “DEA proactively investigates cartel members and associates, like Sergio Valenzuela Valenzuela, who allegedly oversee the transportation and distribution of these deadly drugs while interagency partners, like U.S. Customs and Border Protection, interdict shipments at the border before they enter our country. These partnerships ensure those responsible face justice for their crimes.”
As a collaborative partner, HSI will leverage its abilities, ample customs authorities, and investigative capabilities to continue to look at the TCOs supply and distribution chains, while taking dangerous, destructive, and deadly drugs off our streets together with the violence that comes with the illicit activities of these criminal enterprises. HSI Arizona has dedicated groups of special agents assigned to combat drug and human smuggling as well as southbound weapons and bulk cash smuggling.
“HSI stands at the ready to continue dedicating our resources, unique customs authorities and investigative capabilities toward joining our federal partners in not only disrupting the trafficking of lethal drugs into our country but capturing and prosecuting the plaza bosses who profit from poisoning our communities,” said HSI Countering Transnational Organized Crime Assistant Director Ricardo Mayoral . “We will leverage the combined strength of our partnered efforts to relentlessly pursue, disrupt and dismantle one of the most prolific and violent cartels in the world.”
With the launch of its updated Fentanyl Strategy CBP Strategy to Combat Fentanyl and Other Synthetic Drugs Report in fall 2023, CBP has continued to look at innovative ways to stop fentanyl trafficking. The agency continues to utilize its unique authorities and resources as the nation’s border security agency to lead the whole-of-government approach to dismantling the means and methods of the production and distribution of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids, in addition to its historic target of interdicting narcotics at the border of the United States.
CBP officials have previously targeted fentanyl interdictions along the southwest border of the United States during Operation Blue Lotus, Four Horsemen, and Rolling Wave as well as precursors and production materials used to make fentanyl during Operation Artemis . With this latest operation, CBP is utilizing another avenue to disrupt the networks that create and distribute these drugs.
CBP and DEA are also calling on the public to provide any relevant information they may have about Sergio Valenzuela Valenzuela, his movements, his associates, and his operation. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling or texting 619-540-6912 via phone, Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal. Information can also be submitted through Snapchat at narcos_tips or by using the Threema ID: 2VBZFZTY.
