Great tour leader! Energetic and friendly. Didn’t take into account varying abilities. Great participants but the energy level of the tour was a bit much for me. Didn’t like racing down the trail. Approaching 70, maybe tour wasn’t right for me. Itinerary was lousy except for two days: inside passage and Icefields highway. Good time overall. Thanks, Storm!

Really awesome! I enjoyed it immensely plus our guide Jay was so accommodating to everyone's personal wants to the tour. Also he's really versatile and knows exactly how to time everything so we're not bothered too much by the tourist rushes. It was so great. I'm so happy I went ^^

I enjoyed the small group tour. The transportation was great and the tour guide was very experienced and helpful. he provided so much more than just information about where we were, he gave us an insight into the local area and so much more. he stopped when he spotted wildlife and so we had a close up view but he ensured that we were always safe. I would highly recommend the tour.

Tarek, our guide, was very passionate. He had a great deal of local knowledge and took a lot of effort to get everything right for us.

What people love about Vancouver to Calgary Tours
I only wished it lasted longer
We enjoyed our tour very much, the sights were beautiful, staff we well informed. A highlight for us was the optional evening photographic tour. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was the last day felt very rushed, especially at the Banff gondola as the queue to get on took half an hour and not enough time allocated to our lunch at the Lake Louise Chateau, we had to ask the waitress to bring out the dessert while we were eating the main as we only had 15 minutes until the bus left. Allocate a bit more time for those things and you will get five stars.

1 -Accommodation:
Choosing the right tour is crucial, especially if you’re looking to visit all the must-see destinations and have ample time to explore. We recommend joining a tour that provides accommodations within Banff and Jasper National Parks. Our selected hotels are centrally located in Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise, ensuring that you’re right in the heart of these stunning locations.
2 -Transportation:
Tours of the Canadian Rockies often require long, sometimes winding, steep, and bumpy drives. To ensure your comfort, Key West Travel utilizes spacious highway coaches with 55 seats. You can look forward to comfortable reclining seats, panoramic windows, and onboard washroom facilities, luxuries that are not typically available on smaller coaches.
3 -Tour Director:
When selecting a tour package, it’s important to consider the intended audience, as this can give you an idea of who your fellow travelers will be and what kind of experience to anticipate. Our tours are primarily designed for individuals aged 30 and above, offering an opportunity to explore the Rockies thoroughly in the company of a more mature group. However, we also warmly welcome families and students, creating a diverse and relaxed environment for all who wish to join.
4 – Itinerary/Activities:
Our strategically situated hotels on the Circle West itinerary ensure that guests don’t miss out on any of the Canadian Rockies’ highlights. Additionally, we provide a selection of optional activities for those seeking extra adventure at an additional cost. For guests preferring a more relaxed experience, complimentary activities are readily available as well.
Our tours are exclusively conducted in English by a seasoned tour director boasting over a decade of professional experience!
Demand for Canadian vacations in 2024 is exceptionally high due to pent-up interest. We strongly recommend securing your seats early to ensure you get your preferred date and avoid the possibility of hotel downgrades.
Key West Travel does not offer individual pick-ups as our tour guests would like to depart Vancouver as scheduled. Usually, the tour departs from Hyatt Regency Downtown Vancouver (655 Burrard Street).
Standard accommodations in our packages offer mountain lodge-style hotels, renowned for their cleanliness and comfort, providing guests with private rooms and en-suite washrooms. For those seeking an even more luxurious experience, our premium accommodations are resort-style hotels that tend to sell out fast. We advise booking premium options well in advance, as they often become unavailable six months prior to departure.
Gratuities are not included in our prices, unless otherwise indicated. While we do not dictate the amount you should offer as a tip, it is customary in Canada to provide gratuities as a token of appreciation for excellent service
The travel time varies depending on the day. On Day 1, if you are traveling from Calgary to Jasper, it will take about 7-8 hours. On the other hand, a transfer from Edmonton to Jasper is shorter, taking about 4-5 hours. On travel days between Vancouver and Jasper or Banff, you can expect a minimum of 10 hours on the bus. To ensure your comfort, we schedule mini breaks every 2-3 hours. On days dedicated to sightseeing, the time spent on the bus will be minimal, as most of the day will be occupied with walking, sightseeing, hiking, and other activities.
“Excellent tour and saw amazing places and experienced lovely things. It met our needs of visiting the Rockies and was well priced for what it had offered. Well worth the money. Brad was very well spoken and knowledgeable with all the information he provided. He knew his information/history and provided us with all necessary information. Len was very friendly and professional one of the best drivers from a tour company we have experienced .”

History will be made by a historic locomotive when the first steam-powered passenger train to traverse Canada, the U.S. and Mexico in a single trip departs from Calgary next week.
The Final Spike Steam Tour is celebrating Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd.’s US$31-billion acquisition of Kansas City Southern in a friendly merger, becoming Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC).

Leading the journey will be newly restored steam locomotive Empress 2816, which was built for Canadian Pacific’s passenger and fast freight services by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1930 and operated until 1960. The original cost to build the 4-6-4 Hudson-type steam locomotive was $116,555.
“It’s really the most beautiful steam locomotive on rails,” said CPKC corporate historian Adam Meeks.
Although it’s not the largest or most powerful locomotive by North American standards, Meeks said, “The esthetics of it, and the elegance of it, are unmatched.”
Capable of a whopping 3,800 horsepower and reaching speeds of up to 145 km/h, Meeks estimates the locomotive ran about 12.9 million kilometres before it was retired.
These days, Meeks said they will travel 80 to 100 km/h due to the age of some of the equipment the locomotive pulls.
Terry Cunha, a representative from CPKC, said the tour is also a way of celebrating the steam locomotive and history of rail.
“There’s been a lot of anticipation by members of the community, enthusiasts, to see this locomotive come out, and we’re really excited that it’s finally here,” he said.

Restoration of Empress 2816 took two years of intensive labour, requiring expertise from current and past CPKC employees, said Cunha.
Meeks helped with the restoration process, along with Jonathan Morris and Justin Tracy. The three are on the crew of about a dozen taking the more than 12,000-kilometre trip to Mexico.
“There’s nothing easy on a steam locomotive, everything’s heavy duty, tough work,” said Morris.
Meeks said there’s some incredible technology they’ve added to the locomotive that was not required in 1930. “We’ve had to figure out a way to dovetail nearly 100-year-old steam era technology with modern operating requirements.”
The Empress was previously restored in the late 1990s, becoming part of CPKC’s corporate steam program from around 2001 to 2012. The locomotive was originally run on coal, then oil after its first restoration, and now it burns biodiesel.
“We’re excited, this is a big, big trip. It’s really something that’s never been done before,” said Morris.
“There’s two years’ worth of blood, sweat and tears into this, so we are all looking forward to just hitting the road.”
Sitting in the cab of the Empress prepped for a demonstration at CPKC’s Ogden rail yard Thursday, Tracy said there’s nothing like controlling the locomotive.
“The inputs you put into it — you turn a valve, you pull a lever — that has a direct impact on how this engine runs. There is nothing between you and the machine.
“Some people will say it’s almost like an extension of your arm,” said Tracy.
The transcontinental trip will begin with a public event at the Ogden rail yard in Calgary on April 24 at 3 p.m. and depart Calgary two days later, making a total of 11 stops across the CPKC network.
For those hoping to catch a glimpse of the Empress as it leaves the city, it departs at 9 a.m. on April 26, heading east from the Ogden yard.
The stops throughout April and into June will be: Moose Jaw, Sask.; Minot, N.D.; St. Paul, Minn.; Franklin Park, Ill.; Davenport, Iowa; Kansas City, Mo.; Shreveport, La.; Laredo, Texas; Monterrey, Mexico; and Mexico City on the final day, June 4.
Although the train won’t carry any passengers, each stop will have a public event where community members will have the opportunity to see Empress 2816 up close and learn more about it and CPKC’s history.
“For those individuals that are big train fans, it’s just being able to see a 100-year-old steam locomotive back in operation,” Cunha said.
A map will be available online for people to track the locomotive during the journey .

Maple Leafs, Jets, Oilers and Canucks carry Canada’s Stanley Cup hopes with drought now at 30 years

Josh Morrissey remembers the city coming to life before his eyes.
A nine-year-old Flames fan in the spring of 2004, he was captivated by every Jarome Iginla chance and Miikka Kiprusoff save during Calgary’s run to the Stanley Cup Final.
“It was just an awesome experience,” said Morrissey, now a star defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets. “Living and dying on every win and loss.”
Hockey fans across Canada are once again preparing for the annual thrill and torment that arrives with the playoffs. The Jets, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs are in the 16-team field that will open play on Saturday.
Morrisey remembers the energy in his hometown as the Flames advanced through three grueling rounds to the final.
“That’s the best part about Canadian teams doing well in the playoffs … it means so much,” he told The Canadian Press. “A special time of the year. The longer you go, the more that excitement ramps up. It can really mean a lot to the cities. I know as a kid, it meant a ton to me.”
Canada’s Cup drought dates to Montreal’s triumph in 1993, an agonizingly long time for fans in the nation that loves hockey more than any other. The Canucks (twice), Flames, Oilers, Canadiens and Ottawa Senators have all made it to the final since only to fall short. The four Canadian clubs in this year’s bracket are the most to make the cut in a normal campaign since 2017.
Vancouver defenseman Carson Soucy, who grew up near Edmonton, remembers the Oilers’ march to the 2006 final.
“That was when they came out with the car window flags,” he said. “They were everywhere … those were popular that year.”
Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon grew up a Canucks fan and was in the city when the team lost to Boston in Game 7 of the 2011 final.
“There really is nothing like playoff hockey (in Canada),” he said. “Everyone bonds together.”
Maple Leafs defenseman Simon Benoit, who grew up in suburban Montreal, recalls watching the Canadiens go on a couple playoff runs when he was a kid.
“Having a chance here to play for that Cup, it’s pretty special,” he said of this opportunity with Toronto. “I’m pretty excited about it. When the time comes, I’ll be ready.”
Canucks rcoach Rick Tocchet won the Cup as a player with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992. He said the team that brings hockey’s grail home will have bragging rights for a long time.
“It’s going to be a hell of a party,” he said. “You might be Canada’s team after that Stanley Cup. There’s a lot at stake for the Canadian teams that are in. As a Canadian, it could be huge. That would be the ultimate, right?”
Like so many Canadian fans over the last 30 years, Morrissey was bitterly disappointed when the Flames lost Game 7 to the Tampa Bay Lightning two decades ago.
“I remember being just absolutely devastated,” he said.
But there were plenty of good times along the way.
“My friends and I from that era still talk about some of the games,” Morrissey continued. “It lives on for a long time.”
The glow of a Cup victory would last even longer.

The Vancouver Canucks' playoff journey starts soon. Here's what you need to know
Vancouver to play nashville in 1st round of stanley cup playoffs on sunday.
Social Sharing
Excitement is mounting as the Vancouver Canucks prepare to square off against the Nashville Predators on Sunday night in the opening round of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Puck drop for the first game in the best-of-seven series takes place at Rogers Arena at 7 p.m. PT on Sunday.
The Canucks won all three games against the Predators in the regular season. Vancouver and Nashville haven't played against each other in the playoffs since 2011, when the Canucks won six games in the Western Conference semifinals.
While neither team has won the Stanley Cup, Vancouver has advanced to the final three times. During its most recent shot in 2011, the Canucks lost in seven games to the Boston Bruins.
The Canucks finished top of the Pacific Division in the regular season, and the team last played home playoff games in 2015.
Here's what you need to know about the Canucks' upcoming playoff series.
Canucks fans on last home game before playoffs
How long will the playoff series last.
Game 1 of the series begins at 7 p.m. PT on Sunday at Rogers Arena. Game 2 is expected to take place Tuesday.
Games 3 and 4 will be held in Nashville on April 26 and 28.
- Vancouver to play Nashville in 1st round of Stanley Cup playoffs
- Canucks fans brace for high prices as playoff tickets go on sale
Both teams would return to Vancouver for Game 5 on April 30, before returning to Nashville on May 3 to compete in Game 6, if necessary.
If the series goes the distance, the puck will drop for Game 7 at Rogers Arena on May 5.
Expect traffic disruptions on game days
The City of Vancouver is reminding those who attend the games of various road closures, which are expected to cause traffic disruptions for anyone travelling in and out of downtown.
Taking transit, walking or cycling will be the best options to get around town on game days, a city statement read.
Hopping on the Canucks bandwagon? This sports writer says that's OK
Const. Tania Visintin, a Vancouver Police Department spokesperson, said additional officers will be deployed throughout the city on game days, with people expected to travel from around the region.
"You'll see extra officers around SkyTrain and Canada Line stations, and we'll be conducting traffic enforcement to ensure people are driving sober," she said. "We encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly."
Are viewing parties planned?
Rogers Arena will host an official "away game viewing party" for game three when the Canucks are in Nashville, though the arena has not yet announced future viewing parties.
The City of Delta, meanwhile, announced this week it will host watch parties at Social Heart Plaza for every game during the Canucks' playoff run.

"It's been nine years since our community has had the opportunity to come together in person and cheer on the Canucks in the playoffs," said Mayor George Harvie in a statement issued Friday.
"We encourage everyone to … be part of the excitement as we rally behind the Canucks during their playoff journey."
Vancouver Canucks games will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet and Sportsnet 650 radio.
Mayor hails great season
Staff from the City of Vancouver said it is thrilled to see the Canucks in the Stanley Cup playoffs, with Mayor Ken Sim saying it has been a great season.
"As a lifelong fan, I'm thrilled to cheer them on as they enter the playoffs," he said in a statement.
"Win or lose, let's make our home team proud and celebrate every game with the unmatched passion and respect that defines our city."

Increased pedestrian traffic from the playoffs is good news for businesses throughout Metro Vancouver that have yet to fully recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Bridgitte Anderson, president and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.
"It's great news when we have more people coming downtown at a time when restaurants are really suffering," she told CBC News.
