Has Your Car's Value Changed?
Used car values are constantly changing. Edmunds lets you track your vehicle's value over time so you can decide when to sell or trade in.
- Extra versatility provided by a standard three-row seat
- Low price for the segment
- Lacks many modern safety and convenience features even in top trims
- Below-average fuel economy
- Disappointing and outdated base engine and transmission
- Lags competitors in handling and drivability
What's new
- Base trim renamed to SE Value
- GT trim and V6 engine dropped
- Part of the first Journey generation introduced in 2009
For 2020, the Dodge Journey is sent once more unto the breach in an attempt to woo you over with its low price and ... well, not much else. This small seven-seat SUV was once available in a multitude of trim levels and offered a strong optional V6 engine and available all-wheel drive. Now Dodge has stripped the Journey down and simplified it to only two trim levels and one available engine and transmission. It also can only be had in front-wheel drive.
Cost to Drive Cost to drive estimates for the 2020 Dodge Journey SE Value 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 4A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $3.55 per gallon for regular unleaded in North Dakota.
Briefly ahead of its time, the Journey has been largely forgotten by Dodge and left with a low-budget interior, an underpowered engine and subpar driving dynamics. Even its low starting price isn't enough to make much of a case for the Journey since most of its main competitors can be had for similar money.
In its class, the Kia Sorento leads the way with more space, an abundance of features and an excellent warranty, with the stylish Volkswagen Tiguan coming in second thanks to its safety features and user-friendly tech interface. The recently rehabilitated Mitsubishi Outlander is a more distant third but is still a considerably better option than the Journey.
Performance
Fuel economy, which journey does edmunds recommend, 2020 dodge journey models.
All Journeys are powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine (173 horsepower, 166 lb-ft) mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive has been available in the past, but all 2020 Journeys are front-wheel-drive.
Selecting the SE Value trim delivers a bare-bones experience, with manually adjustable cloth seats, 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, and a basic six-speaker audio system with a 4.3-inch touchscreen. Available to the SE Value trim exclusively are the Blacktop Package , which adds black exterior accents and black aluminum wheels, and the SE Value Popular Equipment Group , which includes a power driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, satellite radio and three-zone climate control.
The Crossroad upgrades the seating surfaces to leather and brings a power-adjustable driver's seat. It also adds a sunroof and a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and dresses up the exterior with body-colored mirrors and 19-inch alloy wheels. The Crossroad's Popular Equipment Group includes navigation, a more powerful audio system, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

I'd answer this question for myself, but I don't have access to my Journey at the moment.
What is the distance from the back of the front passenger seat to the rear of the cargo area (all rear seats folded down) WITHOUT the fold-flat front seat? Dimensions with front passenger seat moved all the way forward and all the way back would be appreciated.
My mother has a 2007 Saturn Vue that needs (at minimum) two front tires (they're showing the steel belt on the inside tread of the wheels), significant front suspension work (see the horrible wear on the front tires), struts on all four corners, the passenger axle shaft (FWD model), and probably should have the front wheel bearings replaced as well (vehicle has 182,000 miles on it). Suffice it to say, the Vue is shot and needs to be replaced.
There are some good deals going on right now, and I think a Journey would be a good fit for her needs. The cargo capacity (without fold-flat seat) needs to be at least 72" with the hatch closed. She's a seamstress and deals with full bolts of fabric that usually come on 6 foot bolts. In the interest of being able to keep at least one or two other passengers with her when picking those materials up, she needs to know if it would fit. The vehicles that the local dealers have that include the fold-flat front seat might be out of her price range.

Depending on how you have the front seats reclined and where set in their travel, I got about 74 inches. That was on the passenger side. It would be a bit less on the driver side for me as I like my seat back a bit further.
That was exactly the info my parents needed. They took delivery of a 2015 AVP earlier tonight.

Le Corbusier’s triumphant return to Moscow
The exhibition of French prominent architect Le Corbusier, held in The Pushkin Museum, brings together the different facets of his talent. Source: ITAR-TASS / Stanislav Krasilnikov
The largest Le Corbusier exhibition in a quarter of a century celebrates the modernist architect’s life and his connection with the city.
Given his affinity with Moscow, it is perhaps surprising that the city had never hosted a major examination of Le Corbusier’s work until now. However, the Pushkin Museum and the Le Corbusier Fund have redressed that discrepancy with the comprehensive exhibition “Secrets of Creation: Between Art and Architecture,” which runs until November 18.
Presenting over 400 exhibits, the exhibition charts Le Corbusier’s development from the young man eagerly sketching buildings on a trip around Europe, to his later years as a prolific and influential architect.
The exhibition brings together the different facets of his talent, showing his publications, artwork and furniture design alongside photographs, models and blueprints of his buildings.

Irina Antonova, director of the Pushkin Museum, said, “It was important for us to also exhibit his art. People know Le Corbusier the architect, but what is less well know is that he was also an artist. Seeing his art and architecture together gives us an insight into his mind and his thought-processes.”
What becomes obvious to visitors of the exhibition is that Le Corbusier was a man driven by a single-minded vision of how form and lines should interact, a vision he was able to express across multiple genres.
The upper wings of the Pushkin Museum are separated by the central stairs and two long balconies. The organizers have exploited this space, allowing comparison of Le Corbusier’s different art forms. On one side there are large paintings in the Purist style he adapted from Cubism, while on the other wall there are panoramic photographs of his famous buildings.
Le Corbusier was a theorist, producing many pamphlets and manifestos which outlined his view that rigorous urban planning could make society more productive and raise the average standard of living.
It was his affinity with constructivism, and its accompanying vision of the way architecture could shape society, which drew him to visit the Soviet Union, where, as he saw it, there existed a “nation that is being organized in accordance with its new spirit.”
The exhibition’s curator Jean-Louis Cohen explains that Le Corbusier saw Moscow as “somewhere he could experiment.” Indeed, when the architect was commissioned to construct the famous Tsentrosoyuz Building, he responded by producing a plan for the entire city, based on his concept of geometric symmetry.
Falling foul of the political climate
He had misread the Soviet appetite for experimentation, and as Cohen relates in his book Le Corbusier, 1887-1965, drew stinging attacks from the likes of El Lissitsky, who called his design “a city on paper, extraneous to living nature, located in a desert through which not even a river must be allowed to pass (since a curve would contradict the style).”
Not to be deterred, Le Corbusier returned to Moscow in 1932 and entered the famous Palace of the Soviets competition, a skyscraper that was planned to be the tallest building in the world.
This time he fell foul of the changing political climate, as Stalin’s growing suspicion of the avant-garde led to the endorsement of neo-classical designs for the construction, which was ultimately never built due to the Second World War.
Situated opposite the proposed site for the Palace of the Soviets, the exhibition offers a tantalizing vision of what might have been, presenting scale models alongside Le Corbusier’s plans, and generating the feeling of an un-built masterpiece.
Despite Le Corbusier’s fluctuating fortunes in Soviet society, there was one architect who never wavered in his support . Constructivist luminary Alexander Vesnin declared that the Tsentrosoyuz building was the "the best building to arise in Moscow for over a century.”
The exhibition sheds light on their professional and personal relationship, showing sketches and letters they exchanged. In a radical break from the abstract nature of most of Le Corbusier’s art, this corner of the exhibition highlights the sometimes volatile architect’s softer side, as shown through nude sketches and classical still-life paintings he sent to Vesnin.
“He was a complex person” says Cohen. “It’s important to show his difficult elements; his connections with the USSR, with Mussolini. Now that relations between Russia and the West have improved, we can examine this. At the moment there is a new season in Le Corbusier interpretation.” To this end, the exhibition includes articles that have never previously been published in Russia, as well as Le Corbusier’s own literature.
Completing Le Corbusier’s triumphant return to Russia is a preview of a forthcoming statue, to be erected outside the Tsentrosoyuz building. Even if she couldn’t quite accept his vision of a planned city, Moscow is certainly welcoming him back.

2015 Dodge Journey Interior Review
Test drivers are pleased with the 2015 Dodge Journey’s pleasant cabin layout and high-quality materials. While reviewers say the first two rows offer adequate comfort for adults, they agree that the third row can only comfortably accommodate children. Test drivers praise the Journey’s available infotainment system, which they say is exceptionally easy to use. The cargo hold is a good size for the class, and automotive journalists appreciate the Journey’s available interior storage solutions.
- Interior 8.0
2015 Journey Photos
- "Though Dodge seldom has enjoyed a reputation for high-quality interiors, the 2015 Journey does boast pleasing materials and textures throughout the cabin and solid-looking assembly. The gauges and dashboard have a functional and contemporary design that wouldn't be out of place in any number of higher-priced vehicles." -- Edmunds
- "In place of the old Rubbermaid interior is a thoroughly improved cabin highlighted by a rich-looking soft-touch touch dashboard and Dodge's three-spoke corporate steering wheel." -- Left Lane News
- "The materials are upscale in look and feel, and the dashboard manages to look sleek and dressy without compromising the Journey's gauge legibility or ergonomics." -- Autotrader
- "Journey's cabin is class competitive, with good fit and finish. Materials might seem a bit dull, but nothing feels cheap." -- Consumer Guide (2013)
The Dodge Journey seats five, or seven with an optional third-row seat. Cloth upholstery and reclining second-row seats are standard. Leather upholstery, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, tilting and sliding second-row seats, reclining third-row seats and heated front seats are optional. Second-row built-in child booster seats are also available, and reviewers say they are a convenient option for families. A few test drivers also report that there is good forward visibility from the driver’s seat. However, some say that the front seats could be more supportive, and that the steering wheel may not be within easy reach of taller drivers. According to critics, the Journey’s second row is adult-friendly, but its third row best accommodates children.
- "Journey seats five occupants comfortably, while the third row is useful for carrying children and small adults on short....erm, journeys." -- Left Lane News
- "Passenger space for adults is commendable up front and good in the second row, but legroom is very tight in the third row, which is best left for kids or occasional use." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "As a people carrier, the Journey has a few things going for it. The available third row of seating is big enough for small children, and there's enough space for adults in the second row, too. There are also built-in booster seats available, which will save any parent lots of valuable child-loading time." -- Edmunds
- "The Journey's front seats offer mediocre support, but they do sit you up nice and high, affording an expansive view of the road ahead. The steering column telescopes on all models, although those with long legs might still find the wheel too far away." -- Autotrader
Interior Features
The 2015 Dodge Journey comes with a 4.3-inch Uconnect touch-screen radio, a USB port, heated mirrors, push-button start and dual-zone air conditioning. Optional features include tri-zone automatic climate control, a Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, satellite radio, hands-free text messaging, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system with a 9-inch screen, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and remote start.
Test drivers praise the Dodge Journey’s available Uconnect infotainment system and its large, clear, touch-screen display. They agree that the Uconnect system is one of the most straightforward infotainment systems in the class. A few reviewers note that Uconnect operates similarly to a smartphone. Some also like that, in addition to touch-screen controls, there are also physical buttons for adjusting climate and audio settings.
See 2015 Dodge Journey specs »
- "There's almost universal acclaim for Dodge's available UConnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment interface. You won't find a system that's more straightforward to use or more pleasing to the eye, with large, readable typefaces and icons and sensible menus." -- Edmunds
- "But the big technology news in the Journey is the 8.4-in touchscreen (optional on the SXT model and standard on the Limited and R/T models), which brings iPad-like crispness and ease of use into your driving experience. It's one of the best infotainment interfaces on the market, and it even includes an SD-card interface to give you more options in portable media. We highly recommend it." -- Autotrader
- "Generally regarded as one of the more user-friendly infotainment setups on the market, Uconnect Access integrates most of the crossover's audio, navigation and climate control functions into one unit. An 8.4-inch touchscreen mounted on the dashboard is the central component of the system, but redundant buttons and knobs for climate and audio volume and tuning are also included." -- Left Lane News
- "One of the best features of the Journey is its available Uconnect infotainment system. In addition to a large and easy-to-use 8.4-inch touch screen centered in the dash, there are supplementary buttons for climate and audio that are simple to see and use." -- Kelley Blue Book
The 2015 Dodge Journey has 67.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row. That’s a good amount of overall cargo space for the class. Five-seat models have 39.6 cubic feet of space behind the second row, while seven-seat models have 37 and 10.7 cubic feet of space behind the second and third rows, respectively. Test drivers appreciate the Dodge Journey’s convenient storage features, including an under-floor storage compartment behind the first row and a storage space under the front passenger seat cushion. A few reviewers also like the fold-flat front passenger seat, which helps accommodate longer items.
- "The Dodge Journey has special ways of holding and swallowing cargo. Yes, the rear seats flip and fold flat as in other SUVs, but unique to this crossover SUV is its available fold-flat front-passenger seat that accommodates larger items." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "Cargo capacity behind the third row is just 10.7 cu ft., i.e., a few grocery bags' worth, but there are 39.6 cu ft. behind the second row and 67.6 cu ft. behind the first row. Those are competitive numbers for this type of vehicle." -- Autotrader
- "There are useful storage areas, too. You can store snacks and cold drinks in bins built into the floor of the second-row seating area, and a compartment under the front passenger seat is handy for stashing valuables." -- Edmunds (2014)

The Journey has 10.7 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 37 cubic feet behind the second row, and 67.6 cubic feet with both rows folded down. Most midsize SUV rivals offer more cargo space than this Dodge. Small-item storage is plentiful, however. READ MORE.
Cargo. The Journey offers 10.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 37 feet with the third row folded (39.6 in 2-row models), and 67.6 cubic feet maximum volume with all seats folded down. Those numbers are among the lowest in the class.
