Lahaina And West Maui Mountain Jeep Adventure

Discover the remote upper west side of Maui. The West Maui Mountains tour is ideal for those staying in Ka’anapali or Lahaina Town, and who have already experienced the Road to Hana. While the route on the west side of the island is a little rougher than the more famous Road to Hana, our expert guides are capable drivers. This adventure offers the option to stop at a variety of places, such as Punalau Beach, one of our favorite hidden locations. Known by a few locals, it can only be accessed by a 4×4 vehicle, like our convertible Jeeps, down a rough dirt road.

Another favorite cultural spot is the historic town of Lahaina. This old capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii (1820-1845) is rich in culture and history, as well as a former whaler’s port. Lahaina currently showcases great restaurants, art galleries and many souvenir shops along Front Street. Other highlights of the West Maui Mountains adventure include historic Iao Valley State Park, Honolua Bay, Makaluapuna Point, and the Maui Tropical Plantation.

The tour is ideal for those staying in Ka’anapali or Lahaina Town and have already experienced the road to Hana.

How Many People Can You Fit In A Jeep For A Tour? We can fit 3-4 people in a Jeep. We have several Jeeps that can caravan together if your group is larger than 4.

Do You Pick Us Up? Yes. We offer complimentary pickup at your hotel, vacation rental, or cruise ship.

Are Your Jeep Tours Private? Yes. We only offer completely private and customized tours of Maui for our guests. Rather than joining a loaded bus tour with strangers, your group is assigned your own tour guide for the entire day to do and experience whatever you’re interested in. Your tour guide is also your driver so you can enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes at your own pace.

We Want To See The Road To Hana But Don’t Want To Be There All Day. What Do You Recommend? We would recommend the Halfway to Hana adventure. This is the perfect tour for those who just want just a sample of the famous Hana Highway. You will experience the rainforest, a few waterfalls, and incredible coastal views. Plus, we will share geological and historical tidbits along the way. All in the comfort of a Jeep–with the convertible top up or down–whatever you’d like.

We Have Already Booked A Waterfall Hike. What’s Something Else We Can Do On The Jeep Tour? We offer a variety of experiences. Our best one is traveling on the road to Hana. Most tour companies travel clockwise and hurry you from place to place. With our Jeep, we can go off the main highway and explore areas no one else can. We can go to the Hana Lava Tube, a black sand beach, and swim in waterfalls. Let us know how much time you have and what activities interest you ahead of time.

How Long Is The Road To Hana Tour? There’s a Halfway to Hana 6-hour tour, a Road to Hana 8-9 hour tour, and a Circle Hana (or Reverse Hana) Highway 9-10 hour tour. You can select the adventure that is right for you.

What Time Do The Tours Begin? All Hana adventures begin at 6:15 am. This early start time allows us to get ahead of the crowds and you can enjoy the popular locations with a few people as possible. If 6:15 am is too early for you, we can pick you up at a time that works best for you (no later than 9 am).

The West Maui Mountain adventure begins at 9 am.

What Should We Bring On Our Tour, And What Do You Provide? We recommend you bring swimwear, towels, a rain jacket, long sleeve shirt, sandals, a hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, and sunglasses. We provide bottled ice water and a cooler. Feel free to bring whatever food/drink you may need with you as well. Lunch and snacks can be purchased at several roadside stands–and we can recommend good places. Bring cash as many of these places have no internet.

Do Your Tours Enter The Haleakala National Park? No. We do not enter the Kipahulu area (Seven Sacred Pools) nor the Summit Area (crater) of Haleakala National Park.

We offer a full refund up until two weeks prior to your tour. Any tours canceled within the final two weeks prior to your tour, will incur a $50 cancellation fee per booked Jeep. (This covers the Waianapanapa State Park voucher, which gets you into the black sand beach and which is non-refundable, as well any administration fees involved with cancellation.) Any tours canceled within the final 72 hours prior to the start of your tour will not receive a refund.

With the uncertainty of COVID, we have been more flexible with last minute emergencies. We may be able to offer a 50% refund OR 100% credit for a future booking, if a cancellation falls within the 72-hour period. The exception would be if Hawaii or Maui shut down completely again, we would have to offer only future credit, until we are able to open again.

Kristin has called the islands her home for over a decade. Her passion for hiking and love for the island are reflected in her work everyday. Alec picked up our family of four at 7 am. He was friendly funny knowledgeable, the kind of guy that's easy to hang out with, and that is pretty much what the day was like. My kids were shy at first but loosened up after our first fun stop. You can do the road to Hana on your own, but having Alec to drive us, show us all the spots to stop and use bathrooms, eat, stop at all the best photo ops, swimming holes and waterfalls, while sharing island knowledge made it an easy relaxing and fun day! He made the whole experience a pleasant memory!

If you are looking to do more then just see waterfalls this is the tour! Alec was awesome showed us bamboo forest and so many waterfalls. If you like hiking and getting a little dirty this is the right your.

It's a non refundable private tours, we had a conflict that morning and lost all our money.

Had an amazing trip with Alec!!!! If you want a different experience than the normal touristy experience this is the way to go. He knew places that I'm not sure even all the locals know about.

My husband and I booked a private tour with Alex and it was our best day here in Maui! He picked us up at our hotel and showed us a lot of waterfalls, a bamboo forest and took us cliff jumping. He was very knowledgeable about the history and everything along Hana highway. He was a very safe driver and we had an awesome time! He took pictures of us and for us the whole time and narrated what the camera was seeing. He even told us when to get our cameras ready for pretty stuff. We highly recommend touring with him!

Alec is a one of a kind tour guide! I've now gone on two Halfway to Hana tours with him (2017 and 2019). He's fun, adventures, while being cautious and careful. He knows that I am terrified of cliffs, yet somehow he got me to climb over a guardrail, walk over a narrow bridge over a 40' drain gulch, then climb up the side of a mountain, then climb back down the mountain, jump into a waterfall, and was kind and supportive the entire time. The Road to Hana is very curvy and cliffs, and I wouldn't feel comfortable driving it. Alec and "Leesa" his trusty Jeep, are the perfect companions for a day trip. I felt 100% safe and cared for. And, this is a 420 friendly tour

I was hesitant to spend so much money on a tour but can honestly say the experience was completely worth the money spent. Let me start by saying this tour is not for people who want to do the traditional Road to Hana tour. (Alec can drive those routes, but you will have a far better experience if you take his advice and go with the flow of his routes.) If you want an epic adventure with less crowded sites and hidden gems, then this tour is for you! Alec arrived right on time to pick us up at our Bed & Breakfast and did not take long to get us to the Road to Hana. He made sure to keep us safe during the hiking trails and took videos and photos that we would have never been able to capture on our own or with a traditional tour guide. We got to see and hear the sound of bamboo trees standing right underneath them. I also got to swim in my own private waterfall pool, ate some delicious banana bread, and learned about Hawaii from Alec's unique perspective. He even shared some insight about the city we were staying in (Lahina) while driving us home. The views I got to see from this tour will be something I will cherish forever. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to see less tourists and more of nature.

The guides had great personalities and were very knowledgeable about the land and shared edible flowers and interesting plants along the hike. We took our kids (8 & 6) and everything felt very safe. The whole group was encouraging and interactive. It's worth the $$ for a great adventure. Go for the 7-line trip! -Emily

My favorite thing we did on this incredible island. The views from his Jeep convertible were just something you can't experience in a van. Well worth the price, Alec was great at accommodating us.
