The Falls Festival line-up has landed. And it's absolutely stacked!
- X (formerly Twitter)
Ring in the New Year with a blockbuster line-up in Byron Bay and new venues in VIC and WA!
Following two years of COVID-impacted cancellations, Falls Festival is making a glorious return with a roster of huge internationals, much-loved Aussie bands, cutting edge electronic acts and heaps more.
Lil Nas X is making his Australian debut at Falls, showing off all the culture-impacting hits from debut album MONTERO (and possibly some new tunes? ). You've also got festival faves Chvrches, in-demand South Korean DJ Peggy Gou, celebrated producer and The xx member Jamie xx, US rappers Aminé and Rico Nasty, TikTok sensation PinkPantheress, and hyperpop duo Magdalena Bay.
Headliners Arctic Monkeys have been working on a new album to follow-up 2018's subversive, sci-fi themed Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino , and bring their world-class rock show back Down Under for the first time in years.
The Aussie contingent is red hot, too. Ocean Alley, Spacey Jane, and DMA'S are sure to kickstart the sing-alongs. Genesis Owusu, Amyl & The Sniffers, and G Flip will tear the stage apart. Not enough? You've also got King Stingray, Telenova, 1300, Peach PRC, The VANNS, Lastlings, MAY-A, and Elsy Wameyo.
Falls has also assembled a strong electronic offering with overseas talent like Camelphat, Ben Böhmer and DJ Seinfeld mixing it up with local legends Anna Lunoe, Luude, Choomba, Young Franco, Juno Mamba, Mall Grab, CC:DISCO! and more.
There's more to get excited about in the line-up below, and head to Double J to see their recommendations.
Falls Festival 2022/2023 line-up
Arctic Monkeys, Lil Nas X, Peggy Gou, Chvrches, Jamie xx special guests The OG Wiggles Aminé, Ocean Alley, Camelphat, Spacey Jane, DMA'S, G Flip, PinkPantheress, Rico Nasty, Amyl & The Sniffers Mall Grab, Ben Böhmer (Live), DJ Seinfeld, Genesis Owusu, Tsha, CC:DISCO!, Young Franco, Anna Lunoe, Luude Lastlings, MAY-A, Choomba, The VANNS, King Stingray, Peach PRC, Beddy Rays, Jean Dawson, Telenova, Biscits Barry Can't Swim, Floodlights, Elkka, Wongo, YNG Martyr, 1300, Moktar, Magdalena Bay, Dameeeela Ebony Boadu, Elsy Wameyo, Rona., Juno Mamba, and many more! Set a reminder: Tickets are available from 9am, Thursday 12 May. A presale tickets with early bird prices will be available sooner. Head to fallsfestival.com for more info. And here's the dates and venues:
- Pennyroyal Plains, Colac, VIC – 29, 30 & 31 December 2022
- North Byron Parklands, Yelgun, NSW – 31 December 2022, 01 & 02 January 2023
- Fremantle Park, Fremantle, WA – 07 & 08 January 2023
That's far from it! Falls will beef up its offerings beyond the music, with some fancy trimmings that take full advantage of its new locations in VIC and WA.
This year introduces Club Falls - a new VIP experience with dedicated entry, private cocktail bar and dining, phone charging, merch store, shaded areas and - most crucially - fancy toilets! There's also some high-end glamping options at all three stops.
Get involved in the Shit Olympics - a space for backyard cricket, non-alcoholic beer pong, and a three-legged race - or wind down with morning yoga, pilates, or even the on-site swimming pools! That's on top of the pop-up eats, bars, markets, and some painting-with-wine in the arts and crafts Creative Space.
Unfortunately, Tassie will be missing out on the action. Late last year, Falls organisers Secret Sounds confirmed that they wouldn't be returning to Marion Bay , drawing the curtain on a nearly 20-year era for the much-loved event in TAS.

Live Review: Falls Festival NYE, Lil Nas X Brings In 2023 In Perfect Fashion
MAY-A, Peach PRC, Dameeeela, DMA'S, Genesis Owusu, The Wiggles and Lil Nas X all performed with amazing charisma to see of 2022.

As the year wraps, Christmas passes and the sun begins to warm, up all eyes turn to Australia's music festival summer. So with hot anticipation and with eagerness to send 2022 off properly we headed to the first day of the Byron Bay leg of Falls Festival for an afternoon and evening of genre bending, diverse musical artists showcasing some of Australia’s most iconic acts, an international pop star and some of our freshest most exciting faces.
One of the first solo acts to pull a huge crowd was alt-pop sensation MAY-A. Appropriately performing on New Years Eve, MAY-A’s 2022 saw her transform from exciting emerging artist to undisputed future superstar. From beginning the year celebrating her spot at #101 on the Hottest 200, to performing alongside The Veronicas, DMA’s, Budjerah and of course Flume, a jam packed GALAXY tent proved the perfect way to send her year off. She performed with a 4 piece band and a ferocious, clearly pop punk inspired energy, posing as an emphatic frontwoman, rather than an alternative pop-rock singer-songwriter. Tracks Swing of Things, Apricots and Central Station off her 2021 EP, Don’t Kiss Ur Friends all provided for major singalongs with a clear dynamic of adoration between fan and artist.
Meanwhile, the club and dance music had well and truly kicked off at the SUGARLOAF stage, as dameeeela pumped out monster bass and soul heavy dance tracks. After releasing her debut single this year, The Shake Up featuring Tjaka, dameeeela has become the most in demand underground dance names in the country, headlining sets across Australia. Her set was proof of that, blending heavy uptempo club cuts with soulful breaks and traditional UKG. Despite it being early in the evening, she delivered on all fronts, making the eager Falls crowd move.
While dameeeela turned one side of the festival into an unadulterated rave, Peach PRC pulled a huge crowd of wide eyed fans ready to sing every song. Draped in iridescent pink, she performed all of her already cult-adored singles including Symptomatic, God Is A Freak and clear fan favourite, Josh. It was amazing to see unadulterated pop music platformed on one of Australia’s biggest festivals as glitzy chords, instrumental chorus breakdowns and love-laden depression bops washed over the full GALAXY tent.

As the dust settled on Peach PRC’s set, fans swiftly flooded the Amphitheatre’s El Capitan stage in anticipation for the original cast of The Wiggles. Fans adored the Wiggles as they performed through all of their classic fan favourite tunes that most of the crowd probably last saw in an RSL club in the early 2000s. Alongside Captain Feathersword, Dorothy The Dinosaur, Henry The Octopus and Wags The Dog, fans sang and danced in perfectly synced choreography for tracks like Fruit Salad , Wake Up Jeff , Sweet Potato/Hot Potato , Big Red Car .
Every single time Genesis Owusu performs he proves that he is the undisputed future of Australian music, on a global and culturally revolutionary scale. Performing with the goons, Owusu is well and truly in his self-titled roach era, with his two new singles GTFO and Get Inspired proving as major energy moments. His ensemble of goons trapezed Owusu around the stage in critical moments as well as hyping the crowd up at every available moment. His 2021 record Smiling With No Teeth still obviously holds up live, as punk inspired moments combine perfectly with rap cuts and ballads, A Song About Fishing and No Looking Back proving as some of the most emotional and beautiful moments of the evening.
Speaking of iconic Australian live acts, DMA’S once again showcased their anthemic discography to a massive crowd at the El Capitan mainstage, traversing their three studio albums and recent singles in clinical fashion. While classic tracks Delete and Lay Down offered for some of the loudest crowd interactions of the day, their cover of Cher’s Believe has become an expectation of fans at every one of their sets. They once again delivered the cover which is proving to be one of the strongest people pleasers in Australian festival history. Recent singles Everybody’s Saying Thursday’s The Weekend and Olympia held up beautifully alongside their fan-favourite classics, with the DMA’S building beautifully to what feels like another great album.
As the new year approached, the amphitheatre flooded with eagerness for one of the biggest pop stars in the world, Lil Nas X to bring in 2023. The artist is one of the most commercially successful of the past few years, breaking out virally with hit Old Town Road and keeping the momentum up with subsequent hits INDUSTRY BABY alongside Jack Harlow, PANINI, THATS WHAT I WANT and MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name). Lil Nas X presented his music more as a theatre performance than a traditional concert, moving between three acts to depict his storyline so far, from battling the downfalls of being a viral sensation, overcoming adversity and making monster pop hits.
His show was a showcase of black queer excellence, joined on stage by a line of amazing dancers who lifted the crowd’s energy to extreme heights. Its choreography was reminiscent of some of the great pop shows of all time, as Lil Nas X sang and rapped perfectly over booming beats, orchestral breakdowns and major brass sections. The pop sensation is a beacon of hope and representation of the power of openness and authenticity as he steps on the backs of his haters, homophobes and any doubters. There was a power in his confidence, showcasing his culture powerfully on his sleeve uplifting many of the LGBTIQ+ community in the crowd and proving that in the face of trauma, they can and will be excellent.

Lil Nas X Announces First World Tour for “Everyone Except Gay People”
By James Factora
Lil Nas X hive is eating good today, with the singer’s announcement that he is set to embark on his first world tour.
This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
The “Industry Baby” singer announced his upcoming “Long Live Montero” tour via a slickly-produced video that he shared to Twitter on Tuesday morning. In a booming voiceover that played alongside a montage of iconic moments from his music videos and red carpet appearances, Lil Nas declares that “Everyone is allowed… except gay people.” Naturally, this was followed by clips of him dancing naked in a men’s locker room in the “ Industry Baby ” music video and making out with a background dancer at the BET Awards.
“All of u better come or I will cry on Instagram live,” Lil Nas X wrote in the tweet accompanying the video.
The tour comes a month after the end of Lil Nas X’s three month social media hiatus , during which all of his accounts went dark. When he returned to the Internet in mid-March, he joked that he had been on “maternity leave” following the release of his debut album, Montero . Between dropping one of the buzziest albums of 2021, announcing a world tour for the first time, and teasing new music , Lil Nas X’s break was well-deserved. But in his own words, we’re so happy he’s back on the internet.
The Long Live Montero tour will kick off in Detroit, Michigan on September 6, with dates across the U.S., Canada, and Europe before concluding in Barcelona, Spain. The general sale for tickets will begin this Friday at 10 a.m. at each date’s respective local time, with European tickets going on sale the following Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m. local time. However, Cash App users that have a Cash Card, which is a debit card connected to your Cash App account, will be able to get tour tickets before anyone else, with their presale opening tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. local.
