Could this be one of the best tour lineups of 2023?

Huge news alert! Legendary rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to bring their mammoth catalogue of much-loved music, including their new album Unlimited Love, to stages across Australia and New Zealand in early 2023. AND if that wasn’t exciting enough, they are bringing Post Malone with them.

Second shows in Melbourne and Sydney have just been announced!

Red Hot Chili Peppers commenced their global stadium tour last month in Spain following the release of acclaimed new album Unlimited Love , with stops including London, Paris, Dublin, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. As well as a celebration for album number twelve, the tour also marks the return of guitarist and all-round cosmic musician John Frusciante to the group.

Joining the Australian tour is multiplatinum selling superstar Post Malone. Among the best-selling music artists globally with over 80 million records sold across four albums, Malone has won 10 Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, one MTV Video Music Award, and has received six Grammy Award nominations.

So, in short, this tour is huge – and absolutely unmissable.

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting Red Hot Chili Peppers with Post Malone tickets

Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’

Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as they’re progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the  Waiting Room  and when you’re being pushed through  the Smart Queue  and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Remember: there are a lot of fans

We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will team up with Post Malone in venues around Australia and New Zealand in January and February 2023. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.

The long-running rockers return to Australia with Post Malone

Grab your shin-grazer jeans and tie-dye shirts! California quartet the Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced a 2023 tour Down Under. The tour kicks off in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium and hits Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on February 7 and 9, 2023.

The tour is to promote the band's new album,  Unlimited Love,   which we're betting approximately zero people are there to hear, but in excellent news, musical genius John Frusciante will be re-joining the band and playing songs from across the group's prolific 40-year career.

Along for the ride is mumble-rapper and face tattoo enthusiast Austin Richard Post, aka Post Malone, who is known for mixing genres, much like the Chili Peppers themselves, and we reckon it'll be worth the price of admission just to see the confused looks on the crowd's faces.

General public tickets are  on sale  now .

Red Hot Chili Peppers announce 2023 Australian and New Zealand tour with Post Malone

It’ll be the first tour for both acts in 2023

Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Douglas Mason/Getty Images) + Post Malone (Lorne Thomson/Redferns)

Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced a six-date tour of Australasian stadiums, for which they’ll be joined by Post Malone .

  • READ MORE:  The  NME Big Read – Red Hot Chili Peppers: “We feel fresh, like a new band”

It’ll be the first tour for both acts in 2023, kicking off in the New Zealand city of Auckland on Saturday January 21. They’ll play in Dunedin next, before heading over to Australia for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Tickets for all shows can be found here. Those for the Auckland and Brisbane shows go on sale at 12pm next Monday (July 11), while Dunedin, Melbourne and Perth will all be available from 1pm, and Sydney’s from 2pm.

A pre-sale for Live Nation members will open this Friday (July 8), starting at 11am in Dunedin and Brisbane,12pm in Auckland, Melbourne and Perth, and 1pm in Sydney. Find details on the Live Nation pre-sales here (New Zealand) and here (Australia).

Additionally, Australian fans signed up with Telstra will be able to access a pre-sale this Wednesday (July 6), beginning at 10am in Brisbane, 11am in Melbourne and Perth, and 12pm in Sydney. Kiwi fans will have a similar pre-sale via Vodafone, with Dunedin’s starting at 10am and Auckland’s at 11am. Find details for the Telstra Plus pre-sale here , and for the Vodafone pre-sale here .

The tour comes in support of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ recent 12th album, ‘Unlimited Love’, which landed back in April and earned a four-star review from NME . Post Malone also dropped his fourth album, ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’, last month – that one also scored four stars from NME .

Reviewing the Chili Peppers’ recent show in Barcelona , NME’s Ali Shutler said: “The second Anthony Kiedis struts onto the stage and launches into a thundering ‘Can’t Stop’, the Chili Peppers are urgent and excited. What follows next is a viciously playful 100-minute set that sees the band show off their impressive legacy but also underlines why they’re still such a daring rock band.”

Recommended

Meanwhile, last Friday (July 1) saw the Chili Peppers cancel a show in Glasgow just hours before it was due to begin, citing an unknown illness. Thundercat was meant to open the show, but instead performed a last-minute headline gig in a club . A$AP Rocky was due to open for the Chili Peppers at an earlier show in Manchester, but was so late to arrive that he ended up performing his 20-minute set after the band’s own.

The Chilli Peppers are still underway with the European leg of their ‘Unlimited Love’ world tour , with a North American leg set to begin next month.

Upon its release, ‘Unlimited Love’ quickly became the best-selling rock album of 2022 so far , racking up more than 145million streams and 97,500 album sales in the first two weeks of its release.

The band have also said that they have a “loose plan” to release another new album in the immediate future “We’re gonna put out music by the handful – literally,” singer Anthony Kiedis told NME . “Don’t be surprised if another wheelbarrow of songs comes your way in the near future. We have a lot of shit to turn people onto.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2023 Australian tour dates (featuring Post Malone) are:

JANUARY Saturday 21 – Auckland, Mt. Smart Stadium Thursday 26 – Dunedin, Forsyth Barr Stadium Sunday 29 – Brisbane, Suncorp Stadium

FEBRUARY Thursday 2 – Sydney, Accor Stadium Tuesday 7 – Melbourne, Marvel Stadium Sunday 12 – Perth, Optus Stadium

More Red Hot Chili Peppers

In July, Red Hot Chili Peppers announced their massive 2023 Australian tour with Post Malone . Playing in stadiums across the country and on two New Zealand dates, the American rock band will promote their two 2022 albums, Unlimited Love , released in April and the upcoming Return Of The Dream Canteen .

Due to overwhelming demand, they will play a second show at Sydney's Accor Stadium on Saturday, 4 February and Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on Thursday, 9 February. The tour begins in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, 29 January, before heading off to Sydney and Melbourne and concluding the tour at Perth's Optus Stadium on Sunday, 12 February.

The two albums saw the comeback of the band's seminal line-up, with guitarist John Frusciante and producers Rick Rubin and Ryan Hewitt returning to the fold; Frusciante and Hewitt last worked with Red Hot Chili Peppers on their 2006 album and corresponding tour for Stadium Arcadium .

Upon announcing the upcoming Return Of The Dream Canteen - out next Friday - the band shared, "Two double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. Return Of The Dream Canteen is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It's packed."

Post Malone released his fourth album, Twelve Carat Toothache , in June, following numerous collaborations with DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Travis Barker, Fleet Foxes vocalist Robin Pecknold, Tommy Lee and Tyga, Roddy Rich, and more. The rapper and singer has sold over 80 million records across his four studio albums and reached a double and triple-platinum status in Australia.

By the way, Red Hot Chili Peppers are bringing their global stadium tour to Melbourne this summer.

Red Hot Chili Peppers with Post Malone: 2023 Australian Tour

Can't stop, addicted to the shindig? Then you'll be excited about the latest huge music tour heading to Melbourne. Get ready to give it away, give it away, give it away now, too — your money, obviously, to see Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Los Angeles-based rockers are bringing their new global stadium tour our way, with Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante singing songs to you beneath the marquee at Marvel Stadium on Tuesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 9.

The band's dreams of Californication are zipping around the planet as part of a hefty tour that kicked off in June 2022 in Spain, and also includes stops in London, Paris, Dublin, LA, Chicago, New York and more alongside its Down Under leg. And yes, the Chili Peppers have a record to plug in the process, aka Unlimited Love — their 12th studio album, which dropped back in April last year.

red hot chili peppers tour melbourne

Clara Balzary

Both Unlimited Love and the tour mark the return of guitarist Frusciante, who left the Chilis back in 2009, then rejoined the band in 2019. And, the tour will see the group head to this part of the world for the first time since 2019 , too — and playing plenty of hits from their almost four-decade run so far, obviously.

There's a hefty number of songs to choose from. Since their self-titled first EP in 1984, the band has sold more than 80 million albums, won six Grammys and entered the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They've also released tracks spanning 'Under the Bridge', 'Scar Tissue', 'Breaking the Girl', 'By the Way' and 'The Zephyr Song', as well as 'Otherside', 'Soul to Squeeze', 'Around the World', 'My Friends' and 'Suck My Kiss'.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will be joined Down Under by someone else who's sold just as many records: Post Malone. Yes, it's a two-for-the-price-of-one kind of tour — two massive music names, that is. Post Malone heads our way fresh from releasing his fourth studio album Twelve Carat Toothache in June 2022.

Red Hot Chili Peppers announce 2023 stadium tour with Post Malone

Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced an incredible six-date line-up with Post Malone . The duo will be hitting up stadiums in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland and Dunedin in 2023.

The tour will kick off in New Zealand on January 21, followed by dates in Dunedin and a handful of shows across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in Australia.

Tickets for Auckland and Brisbane shows go on sale at 12pm on July 11, while fans can snag tickets for Dunedin, Melbourne and Perth from 1pm, and Sydney’s from 2pm on the same date.

Red Hot Chili Peppers released their 12th studio album, Unlimited Love, in April this year, which received a 3/5 review from Kerrang! writer Steve Beebee : “Unlimited Love is indisputably an enjoyable and worthy chapter in the Chili’s extraordinary story – but it’s also an album of uncertain direction.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis revealed the band have a “loose plan” to put out another record. “We’re gonna put out music by the handful – literally,” the singer told NME . “Don’t be surprised if another wheelbarrow of songs comes your way in the near future. We have a lot of shit to turn people onto.”

Rap rock star Post Malone recently dropped his fourth studio record, Twelve Carat Toothache. The record features pop heavyweights Doja Cat, The Weeknd and The Kid LAROI. The artist is gearing up for his Twelve Carat Toothache tour from September to November this year, where he will be joined by rapper Roddy Richh.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Australian tour setlist overhaul wins crowds after fan backlash

The Red Hot Chili Peppers made one crucial change to their Melbourne stadium show last night, and it appears to have won over their fanbase.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ decision to change their setlist for their Melbourne show has won over fans, following a barrage of criticism over songs they were playing for their tour.

The legendary rockers are currently in the middle of an Australian stadium tour, playing to massive audiences in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

And a song they added to their final Melbourne show last night has proved to be a hit among their local fanbase, with their decision to play 2006 track Wet Sand earning admiration from supporters.

Hundreds of fans took to the Chili Peppers’ Instagram page simply writing, “Wet sand”, in response to their post about the updated setlist.

It comes after last week’s Aussie shows were met with a decidedly mixed reaction as the Chili Peppers ignored many of their biggest Aussie hits – ’90s classics like Suck My Kiss , All My Friends and arguably their signature song, the 1991 Australian number one Under The Bridge – in favour of new material.

The group’s February 2 Sydney concert caused the biggest fan backlash. Tracks from their two newest albums Unlimited Love and Return To The Dream Canteen – both released last year – took up seven of the setlist’s 20 songs, while they performed just one song from their biggest-selling album in this country, 1999’s 8x platinum Californication.

Other multi-platinum albums like 1995’s One Hot Minute and 2006’s Stadium Arcadium were only represented by one song each – but it was the absence of their most well-known song, Under The Bridge , that left fans wondering why the band had such an aversion to playing their hits in a stadium setting.

Last night in Melbourne, a couple of tweaks to the setlist kept fans happier: All three major singles from their 1991 breakthrough album Blood Sugar Sex Magick got an airing, including, for the first time during this leg of the tour, Suck My Kiss and Under The Bridge.

And 2002’s Australian 5x platinum album By The Way was well-represented with three songs, but the band once again largely snubbed their biggest album Californication , playing only the title track.

Still, something’s gotta give when you have 30-odd years of hits to get through.

More than 500,000 Aussies bought it, but the Chili Peppers haven’t shown Californication much love at some of their Australian shows.

The tweaks came after fans flooded the Accor Stadium Facebook page with complaints following their first Sydney show.

“Wish I could take back my decision to go to RHCP. Absolutely gutted by that performance,” one person wrote.

“Well that was disappointing, definitely won’t be seeing them again,” said another fan.

“Good experience [but] won’t see ’em again. Their set was new song focused and the crowd struggled to feel it,” said a third.

“Been their biggest fan all my life and after that concert would never go again. Played a few old songs but mostly new rubbish that no one knows,” someone else wrote.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Australian tour finishes at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Sunday.
