3 reasons to set sail on a cruise in the Red Sea

red sea cruises 2022

To discover ancient civilisations

From Egypt to Jordan by way of Israel, the countries surrounding the Red Sea are rich in history and perfectly preserved monuments . The pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza, the temples of Karnak and Luxor, and the treasures on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo all bear witness to the splendours of the Pharaonic era . The traces left by the Romans let travellers follow in the footsteps of this legendary Empire. As for Petra, it is a testament to the power and refinement of the Nabataeans.

red sea cruises 2022

To enjoy a moment of relaxation

In the two northern gulfs of the Red Sea, the resorts of Ain Sokhna , Egypt, and Eilat , Israel, offer travellers a relaxed atmosphere and large sandy beaches. Thanks to their calm waters, these destinations are ideal for swimming or nautical activities such as kayaking and pedalo outings. The salt water baths of the Dead Sea are a great spot to recharge your batteries.

For navigation and engineering enthusiasts, sailing the Suez Canal is a unique opportunity to sit back and take in your surroundings.

red sea cruises 2022

To swim through rich waters

Scuba diving and snorkelling are popular activities in the coastal towns surrounding the Red Sea, from Eilat and Aqaba to Hurghada and Safaga. The waters are home to many varieties of coral, moray eels, reef sharks, and parrotfish. If you're lucky, you might even spot a pod of dolphins or a few hammerhead sharks. Come on in, the water's lovely!

red sea cruises 2022

Sail the Suez Canal - Egypt

A monumental feat of engineering, the Suez Canal measures over 200 kilometres, connecting the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. A cherished dream since ancient times, this waterway was first proposed by the pharaohs back in the 13th century BC. However, it was under the leadership of Frenchman Ferdinand de Lesseps that these plans finally came to fruition in 1869. The Suez Canal is a passage between two continents and two civilisations: a truly unique nautical adventure.

red sea cruises 2022

Discover Ancient Egypt

The powerful civilisation of ancient Egypt dominated the region for several millennia, and many of its most splendid monuments can still be seen today. In Giza, the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure have stood as a testament to the pharaohs for around 5,000 years. Keeping guard over the pyramids, the imposing figure of the Sphinx sits 73.5 metres tall. Nearby, the Egyptian Museum boasts the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities, including the magnificent treasure of Tutankhamun .

red sea cruises 2022

Swim in the Dead Sea - Israel

Enjoy a swim like no other! known for its high concentration of salt, the Dead Sea is one of Israel's must-visit destinations. Thanks to the water's mineral content, a dip in the sea can offer a range of therapeutic benefits. Its salinity will also keep you bobbing on the surface.

red sea cruises 2022

Visit the Masada fortress - Israel

The Masada fortress towers over the Judean Desert , perched on cliffs ranging from 100-450 metres in height. As it is nearly impossible to access on foot, visitors can take a cable car to explore the sanctuary that sheltered many Jewish families from 66 to 70 BC during the reign of Herod. Now classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the ruins of the palace with its mosaics and columns, the imposing walls, the synagogue, the baths and the water cisterns all reflect the ingenuity and beauty of the area and its people.

red sea cruises 2022

Take in the magic of Petra - Jordan

At the bend of a gorge, surrounded by the rocky walls of the Jabal al-Khubtha massif, lies the ancient city of Petra . Dug into the rock itself—in varying shades of ochre and red—the tombs, theatre, walls, gardens, temples, and monuments symbolise the city's importance during the reign of the Nabataeans, around the sixth century BC. Built on the main caravan route , Petra is located at the crossroads between East and West. Incense, spices, silk, precious stones, and medicinal plants all passed through this bustling city. However, Petra's importance decreased over the centuries, and the city eventually fell into oblivion before being rediscovered in 1812.

red sea cruises 2022

Dive into the Red Sea

As one of the warmest seas in the world, the Red Sea is home to a huge variety of underwater flora and fauna. Divers can expect to encounter colourful corals, shimmering schools of fish, butterflyfish, clownfish, parrotfish, angelfish, barracudas, moray eels, rays, dolphins, and whale sharks.

Elephant Rock in AlUla

Take a swim at one of the sun-kissed beaches

Al Wajh - Saudi Arabia

Duba - Saudi Arabia

Perched along the coast of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk Province, Al Wajh is an atmospheric city oozing a laidback ambiance. Its old town, Al Balad, is a hidden gem where Hijazi-style architecture and Red Sea coral buildings adorn the quiet streets, and colorful balconies and ornate doors present fascinating photo opportunities.

Affectionately referred to by locals as the ‘Pearl of the Red Sea’, Duba is a small port city in the Tabuk region and is the nearest Saudi Arabian port to the Suez Canal.

Walk through the old fishing village, stopping off for some fresh seafood, and relax on the white sandy beaches, the perfect place for sun-dwellers to sit back and soak up the beautiful weather. Just a short drive away, the magnificent city of AlUla is one of the oldest on the Arabian Peninsula. Considered an unseen wonder of the world, and home to Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, discover preserved tombs, dramatic rock formations, sand dunes and lush valleys.

It may be one of the region’s smaller cities, but this undiscovered treasure is bursting with history, harborside seafood restaurants and picturesque beaches. The historic King Abdulaziz Fort is Duba’s main attraction. Built in 1933 CE during King Abdulaziz’s reign, the fort acted as the ruling center of the city and is proudly perched right on the seafront overlooking the port. Experience the buzz of a traditional Arabian fish market at Duba Fish Market, before heading to one of the city’s many sun-kissed beaches for a swim - the beautiful Southern Duba Corniche is a particular hotspot.

Voulismeni Lake, Agios Nikolaos

Jeddah - Saudi Arabia

Agios Nikolaos, Crete – Greece

On the western shores of the Red Sea, Jeddah is a gateway for pilgrimages to the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Ancient mosques and towering modern skyscrapers now exist side-by-side here, believed also to be the final resting place of ‘the mother of humanity’, Eve.

Nestled in an enviable location on a sprawling hillside beside the Gulf of Mirabello, the laidback town of Agios Nikolaos is a picturesque coastal port with a quaint small town feel and a rich history. Situated on Crete’s north-east coast, the town is partially built on the ruins of the ancient city of Lato pros Kamara.

Today, the city is a commercial hub with a cosmopolitan and forward-thinking approach. Visit Jeddah Corniche with its surrounding hotels and beaches, swim the pristine coral reefs, shop for souvenirs at a bustling souq and taste fresh Middle Eastern cuisine with a spectacular view of the seafront. Step back in time on a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Al Balad district, dating back to the 7th century. Retaining its traditional charm, Al Balad is home to the city's oldest mosque, Masjid Shaffie, and the old pilgrimage road, also known as Al Dahab Street, where you can haggle with street vendors for their wares.

The town’s most treasured gem is Voulismeni Lake, a cobalt blue lagoon steeped in Greek mythology. As legend has it, the goddesses Athena and Artemis bathed in its waters. By day, relax lakeside in one of the many cafés and, as night falls, watch as the lake comes to life with locals and tourists alike enjoying the many lively bars and traditional tavernas. Many of Crete’s most beautiful beaches are found a stone’s throw from Agios Nikolaos, as well as olive farms and typically Greek rural villages just asking to be explored.

The Red Sea Home to some of the world’s warmest and saltiest seawater, the Red Sea is a remarkable body of water. Where technicolor coral reef displays draw divers from around the world to view its thriving biodiversity, and luxury resorts line its shores.

Red Sea, Egypt

Highlights: Each cruise has been carefully designed to give you the freedom to explore at your own pace. ■

Al Wajh: A truly remarkable mix of white sandy beaches, fresh seafood and old town charm, Al Wajh is also well located to visit AlUla, where Hegra is found - Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, and home to the fascinating rock-cut tombs. You’ll have the opportunity to visit AlUla on a DiscoverMORE optional excursion while in Al Wajh. Aqaba: Jordan’s only coastal city is the gateway to the Wadi Rum desert. Gaze in awe as the sun sets over the red sand dunes for an ethereal experience. While in Aqaba, have the opportunity to visit Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Red Rose City" because of the color of the stone from which it is carved. Sharm el-Sheikh: Located between the desert of the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea, the sandy beaches and coral reefs of Sharm el-Sheikh offer so much. Enjoy an optional Snorkeling tour at Ras Mohamed National Park, enjoy sea views and swims at its many bays and peruse the Sharm Old Market, alive with vibrant stalls and surrounded by restaurants and cafés.

Booking conditions Emerald Cruises is a brand owned and operated by Scenic Tours (USA), Inc. Any reference herein to “Emerald” refers to Scenic Tours (USA), Inc. By booking a tour, cruise or other vacation package with Emerald and paying the booking deposit, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions, which creates a binding contract between Emerald and you, the customer. Please read this contract carefully, as it contains important terms and conditions including, without limitation, penalties for cancellation and specific limitations on our liability. 1. General. Emerald operates tours within the United States, and serves as a booking agent for tours operated by third-party service providers (“Providers”) in other countries. Emerald reserves the right to provide the tour or any portion thereof either directly through its own personnel or through third party service providers. You hereby acknowledge and agree that where any tour or part of the tour, accommodations, flights or any other goods or services are provided by a third party (collectively, “Third Party Services”) and not directly by Emerald Cruises, Emerald is not liable for any dispute or claim with respect to or arising from any Third Party Services including, without limitation, any losses, damages, breach of contract, negligence or other claims or damages arising from the acts or omissions of the Providers thereof and, therefore, you are required to pursue any such claims solely against the relevant Provider. 2. Important Travel Information. You acknowledge and agree that there are general risks associated with traveling, which are beyond Emerald’s control and, as such, Emerald is not liable for any loss, cost or damage you may incur as a result thereof. Such general risks include, but are not limited to, tour variations or interruptions caused by road, ocean or weather conditions; national or local holidays affecting the closure of public buildings and attractions; strikes, civil disturbances and advices by governments, and other Force Majeure Events (as defined below); hazards associated with traveling in undeveloped areas; travel by boat, train, automobile, aircraft and other means of transportation; high winds; heavy fog; high water levels; low water levels; flooding; lock closures; unscheduled vessel or vehicle maintenance or for any other circumstances beyond Emerald’s control; forces of nature; illness; flight schedule changes or cancellations; loss of luggage; epidemics or pandemics; political unrest; accidents; acts of terrorism or other criminal acts; and any changes to government visa or travel requirements. Furthermore, it is your sole responsibility to make your own inquiries regarding your trip, including any relevant government travel safety warnings. 3. Travel Insurance. You are urged to arrange comprehensive travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances that may occur during the tour. Emerald is not liable in any regard for your failure to adequately insure yourself, and you agree to indemnify and hold Emerald harmless for any expenses or delays incurred as a result of your failure to adequately insure yourself. For your convenience, Emerald offers its clients the opportunity to purchase travel protection through TripMate, Inc. We act as a broker. Once purchased, the Travel Protection Plan premium is non-refundable. 4. Tour Price. The “Tour Price” is the total amount listed on your itinerary. All Tour Prices are quoted in U.S. Dollars. Emerald reserves the right to vary Tour Prices at any time, in its absolute discretion, to account for any increase in costs, including but not limited to airfares, fuel, government taxes and charges, exchange rate fluctuations or other tour related costs or tariffs. If Emerald has received the full amount of the Tour Price from you, there will be no increases to your Tour price, regardless of any increases in the tour costs inside or outside of our control. If you have not paid the full amount of the Tour Price, and we must vary your Tour Price due to an increase in tour costs outside of Emerald’s control, any increase Emerald applies to the Tour Price will be only to the extent required to meet such additional costs. Emerald reserves the right not to honor any published prices that Emerald determines were erroneous due to printing, electronic or clerical error. 5. Items Included in Your Tour Price. Subject to the conditions and limitations set forth herein, the following items are included in the Tour Price provided that they are expressly listed on your itinerary: Intercity Travel. By motorcoach (bus) or by cruise (boat). Air Travel. Although designated air travel may or may not be included, you are responsible for timely arrival at the gateway for your tour. Failure to arrive at the gateway in a timely fashion may result in cancellation of your tour and loss of the Tour Price. Internal flights may be included if listed on your itinerary. Tour Director. All tours are conducted in English by a professional cruise or tour director. Accommodations. Tour Prices are per person, based on two persons sharing a room with a private bath or shower. Single accommodations are available on some, but not all, tours for a single supplement rate, payable at the time of

booking. If at any time during the tour you consider your rooming partner to be unsuitable, Emerald will attempt to arrange single accommodation for you for the remainder of the tour, subject to availability. Details of price and availability of single accommodation can be obtained at the time of booking. Floorplans and deck plans are indicative only and are not drawn to scale. Pictures of hotel rooms or cabins may not represent the actual accommodation provided during the tour. Special room requests (smoking/non-smoking, adjacent, connecting or lower- floor rooms, as examples) must be made at time of booking. Special hotel room requests are not guaranteed and are based on a first come first served basis and are subject to availability at time of check-in. Emerald reserves the right to substitute hotel accommodations of a similar standard in place of any advertised hotel. Emerald is not responsible for the size or quality of the hotel rooms provided. Tour Prices are based upon the cabin categories listed on the itinerary. Upgrades are subject to availability and require payment of additional fees. Emerald cannot guarantee the availability of pre- and post-tour accommodations. Airport Transfers. Airport transfers are available only on the first and last day of your tour and at times designated by Emerald. Transfers outside these times will be at your expense and must be secured by your own arrangements. Passengers who have purchased hotel accommodation and airfare from Emerald prior to tour or after tour will be provided with airport transfers to or from their hotel. If your airline booking is not made by Emerald, you must ensure your flight details are provided to Emerald. No refund will be given for any unused transfers. Transfers cannot be routed to other pick-up points or destinations. In the event of a missed transfer, you will be responsible for making substitute travel arrangements, at your own expense. All transfers must be booked and Emerald must be advised of all flights no less than 60 days prior to travel. Airport and ship transfers may be group transfers scheduled to coincide with multiple flight arrival times. Meals. Only those meals identified on the itinerary are included. You must advise Emerald in writing of any and all special dietary needs at the time of booking. Emerald will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your dietary requests, but cannot guarantee that any requests can be met. Beverages. If your itinerary includes booking on an Emerald “yacht,” all standard beverages are included in the tour price during lunch and dinner while you are on board. This includes beer, wine, bottled water and soft drinks. It also includes daily replenishment of minibars in the Owner’s Suite, Terrace Suite and Yacht Suite. Selected items, such as spirits, and French champagne, are not included and will be subject to an additional charge. Otherwise, beverages will only be included when listed on the itinerary. Sightseeing. The entrance fees for sightseeing, excursions and other places of interest that are listed are included. “Discover More” - Optional tours. If you place a booking with Emerald within 120 days or less of your chosen departure date, full payment of the Tour Price is required before we can request and confirm your booking. Seat assignments and meal preferences may be requested at time of booking but remain subject to availability on a first come first served basis. Emerald does not assure any such requests will be granted. Not all airlines offer pre-assigned seats and some may impose additional charges for pre-assigned seats. Any additional charge imposed by any airline will be at your sole expense. Tour Variations, Delays, Etc. Itinerary Variations. While Emerald will make reasonable efforts to operate the tour in accordance with your itinerary, changes or substitutions may be necessary for reasons outside Emerald’s control or other Force Majeure Events (as defined in paragraph 12). At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order; hotels may also vary from those stated on the itinerary pages. On tours that include cruises, the ship may be changed due to operational reasons. Departures in early and late season are potentially operated in cool weather conditions. As a result, slight itinerary variations may occur, and certain activities may not be available due to seasonality or weather conditions. Availability of certain activities may also be limited due to itinerary variations. If your tour enjoyment may be diminished by such limitations, please check with your Travel Agent before making your reservation. Emerald is not liable to you for any variations in the tour itinerary caused by Force Majeure Events or the events described in Section 2. Tour Cancellation. Your booking is conditional on Emerald receiving a minimum number of bookings to operate the tour and ensure an enjoyable group atmosphere. Where sufficient numbers, as determined by Emerald in its sole discretion, are not achieved, Emerald may cancel or suspend a scheduled departure of the tour. Emerald will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide notice of canceled or suspended tours at least 60 days prior to the scheduled departure date. Emerald will endeavor to notify you of any changes to your tour itinerary in the following manner: (a) if prior to your tour departure, by telephone, email or mail; and (b) if during your tour, personally by your Cruise Director or Tour Director. In the event a tour or cruise is canceled by Emerald for any reason prior to departure, Emerald will use commercially reasonable efforts to offer the closest available tour or cruise departure. If the replacement tour price is less than the scheduled tour, you will receive a refund in the amount of the difference or if the replacement tour is more than the scheduled tour you will be required to pay the difference. If you accept the alternative tour or cruise departure, you will be bound by these Terms and Conditions with respect to the alternative tour or cruise. If you do not accept the alternative tour or cruise departure within a period of 7 days, then this Contract will be terminated and Emerald will refund all monies that you paid directly to Emerald and Emerald will have no further liability to you. Emerald will not be liable for any third party costs you incur as a result of cancellation, including without limitation, for airfares or other arrangements booked independently through or paid to a travel agent or other third party. Tour Delay. Where Emerald delays the departure of a tour or cruise, for whatever reason, for more than 7 days, as your sole and exclusive remedy you may terminate this Contract and Emerald will either: (a) provide you with a full refund of all amounts paid to Emerald; or (b) provide you with a credit towards future tours with Emerald which will be valid for 24 months from the date you notify us of the termination of this Contract. 11. General Notices, Conditions and Safety Matters. Sun Deck. Operation hours may be limited due to the passage of low bridges or other restrictions by local authorities. Noise, Vibration and Odor. While Emerald takes reasonable steps to minimize noise, vibration and odors on the cruise ships, you acknowledge and accept that some noise, vibration and intermittent odors may be experienced on vessels and that Emerald will not be liable to you in relation to any such noise, vibration or odors. Young Passengers. Children under 12 years old are ineligible to participate in our tours, except for applicable Christmas tours and cruises, and then only if accepted by Emerald in its sole discretion. Due to the availability of alcohol on many of our vacation packages, children and other persons under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a person over the age of 21 (an “Adult”) and must share their accommodation with that Adult. Bus Safety. You acknowledge and agree that if you travel on a bus or motorcoach as a part of a tour, you are required to comply with any and all recommended safety requirements including, without limitation, remaining seated at all times while in the bus or motorcoach and wearing a safety belt while seated in the motorcoach. Neither Emerald nor its affiliates or Providers shall have any liability to you or any third party for any injuries, illness or death resulting from your failure to adhere to applicable safety recommendations. Physically Challenged Guests. Emerald strives to provide a safe, enjoyable and memorable travel experience for all passengers. Sightseeing in many historic towns and cities can only be undertaken by walking tours of up to 5 km (3.2 miles), often on uneven surfaces. Some tours include mountain excursions involving high altitudes. Consequently, a reasonably adequate (and sometimes high) level of fitness is required for many of our tours. Please consult with your doctor to ensure that you have an adequate level of fitness and are in good health before participating in these included excursions. Emerald will not provide any refunds if you are not able to participate in any portion of the tour. Most transportation services are not equipped with elevators or wheelchair ramps, and cabin doors and rest rooms may not be wide enough to provide access for standard wheelchairs. Emerald will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of its physically challenged guests, but is not responsible in the event it is unable to do so. Nor is it responsible for any denial of service by vessel operators, air carriers, hotels, restaurants or other Providers. We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance to our customers for walking, dining, getting on and off vessels, motorcoaches and other vehicles, or for other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion must accompany travelers who need assistance and must assume full responsibility for their well being. Please note that motorized scooters are not suitable on international tours, and are may not be permitted in certain countries. Safety. Passengers must follow Tour/Cruise Director and crew instructions at all times to ensure on tour safety. You acknowledge that failure to do so will result in restricted access to areas on tour, or if necessary for your own safety and that of other passengers, withdrawal from the tour. If Emerald, or our staff or Providers are of the view you are negatively affecting your own health, safety or enjoyment, or that of other passengers, Emerald may terminate your continued participation

in the tour immediately and in such event, Emerald will not be liable to you for any loss, cost or damage resulting from your withdrawal from the tour. If you are withdrawn from the tour, you must make your own travel arrangements at your own expense. You hereby acknowledge and agree that neither Emerald, nor any of its affiliates or Providers, are responsible for any damages, costs or expenses that may arise from the decision to exclude an individual from participating on all or any portion of an Emerald tour, or from any activities or accommodations on an Emerald tour. Passport/Visas. You must have a passport valid for six months past the expected end date of your tour. It is also your responsibility to obtain valid entry visas for all countries where so required, prior to departure. Failure to obtain correct documentation may affect your participation in all or any portion of the tour. Emerald will not provide any refunds if you are not able to participate in the tour, or any part thereof. You will be responsible for any costs you incur as a result of your failure to obtain the required documentation including, without limitation, any costs associated with rejoining the tour or returning home. Vaccinations. Immunization requirements vary from country to country. Please consult your personal physician, a local public health board or the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta (404-322-4559 or www.cdc.gov/travel). Required inoculations, if Booking conditions any, must be recorded by traveler’s health practitioner on a valid vaccination certificate which the traveler must carry for proof of inoculation where required. Smoking. You acknowledge that vessels, motorcoaches and other vehicles, restaurants, hotels and other accommodations do not permit smoking. Although Emerald may attempt to provide opportunities for smoking during the tour, Emerald does not guarantee such opportunities will be available. 12. Force Majeure. For the purposes of these terms and conditions, a “Force Majeure Event” means any act of God; war; terrorism; fire; flood or any other extreme weather condition; loss of power; epidemics or pandemics; industrial disputes, slow-downs or other strike activities; riots or civil disturbances; acts of government, semi-government or other authorities; inability to obtain any necessary license or consent; delays caused by sub-contractors, suppliers or other third parties (including telecommunications carriers); material shortages; or other any other disruption, delay, damage or loss resulting from any action, omission or event outside the reasonable control of Emerald. You hereby acknowledge and agree that Emerald is not liable for any delay or any failure by Emerald to perform its obligations under these Terms and Conditions resulting from or as a consequence of a Force Majeure Event. If a delay or failure occurs or is anticipated due to Force Majeure Event, Emerald’s obligations are suspended for the duration of the Force Majeure Event. Emerald may immediately terminate this agreement, if the Force Majeure Event delays performance for a period of 7 days or more, calculated from the date Emerald notifies you of the Force Majeure Event. 13. Waivers; Limitations of Liability; Disclaimers; Indemnification Waiver of Responsibility. Without intending to limit the generality of the other limitations and disclaimers set forth herein, You hereby acknowledge and agree that Emerald accepts no responsibility and will not be liable to you or any third party for any loss, cost or damage (including loss of enjoyment) suffered directly or indirectly in connection with: (1) any tour risks or other aspects of the tour of which you were notified in these Terms and Conditions; (2) any change to your itinerary or delays in departure or arrival times of aircraft or otherwise during the conduct of the tour; (3) any loss or damage to your baggage; (4) any personal injury or death resulting from acts or omissions, including negligence, of any third parties providing goods or services to you during the tour, including air carriers, hotels, shore excursion operators, restaurateurs, transportation providers and medical personnel; or (5) any loss of enjoyment by you due to circumstances outlined in these Terms and Conditions or otherwise beyond Emerald’s control. You further acknowledge and agree that, in issuing tickets and coupons for transportation of the customer by any means and making arrangements for hotel or other accommodation, Emerald is not acting as principal but only as agent for the companies, corporations or persons providing or offering the means of transportation and accommodation and, therefore, accepts no responsibility for their acts or omissions. Limitation of Indirect and Consequential Damages. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, neither emerald nor its providers or suppliers shall be liable to you or any third party for any special, incidental, indirect and/or consequential damages of any kind, resulting from their performance or failure to perform pursuant to the terms of this contract or any other documentation entered into in connection herewith, or resulting from the furnishing, performance or use of any of emerald’ s products or services, even if you have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Exclusive Remedy; Limitation of Direct Damages. You hereby acknowledge and agree that your sole remedy in the event of a breach by emerald of any of its obligations hereunder shall be limited to one of the following remedies, as applicable: (a) in the case of goods, in emerald’s sole discretion, repair or replacement of such damaged or faulty goods with the same or equivalent goods or the reimbursement of the amount you paid for such goods, or (b) in the case of services, in emerald’s sole discretion, supplying the services again or reimbursing the cost you paid for the supply of such services. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, however, in no event will the total aggregate liability of emerald and its providers and suppliers for any claims, losses or damages whatsoever arising out of this contract exceed the total fees paid by you and actually received by emerald with respect to the tour or cruise with respect to which the claim arose.

The limitations of liability and exclusion of certain damages set forth herein shall apply regardless of the success or effectiveness of other remedies. Disclaimer of Warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and except as otherwise expressly set forth herein, emerald makes no representations or warranties, and hereby disclaims any other representations or warranties, express or implied, arising by law or otherwise, with regard to any of its products and services, including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, any implied warranty arising from the course of performance, course of dealing or usage of trade, or any implied warranties pertaining to title. Without limiting the foregoing, emerald does not warrant that your tour will be without delay, interruption or change. Class Action Waiver. This contract provides for the exclusive resolution of disputes through individual legal action on guest’s own behalf instead of through any class action. Even if the applicable law provides otherwise, guest agrees that any arbitration or lawsuit against emerald whatsoever shall be litigated by guest individually and not as a member of any class action or as part of a class action, and guest expressly agrees to waive any law entitling guest to participate in a class action. If guest’s claim is subject to arbitration under paragraph 16 below, the arbitrator shall have no authority to arbitrate claims on a class action basis. Guest agrees that this section shall not be severable under any circumstances from the arbitration clause set forth in paragraph 16 below, and if for any reason this class action waiver is unenforceable as to any particular claim, then and only then such claim shall not be subject to arbitration. Indemnification. In consideration of the services and arrangements provided by Emerald, you, for yourself and for your heirs, personal representatives or assigns, do hereby release, waive, discharge, hold harmless and agree to indemnify Emerald and its owners, officers, directors, agents, contractors, subcontractors and employees from any and all claims, actions, or losses for bodily injury, property damage, wrongful death, loss of services, lost profits, consequential, exemplary, indirect or punitive damages or otherwise which may arise out of or occur during your travel in connection with your vacation package and any activities conducted in conjunction therewith. 5 Cruises That Will Take You to Saudi Arabia Through 2024

W hen you think of a cruise vacation, you probably imagine sailing the tropical waters of the Caribbean, or navigating around the Greek islands. Your brain likely isn’t conjuring images of the sandswept deserts of Saudi Arabia. But Saudi Arabia strives to make itself more attractive for international tourism — making the process of getting a visa very easy, and establishing tourism-specific destinations like NEOM and AlUla . And thanks to its efforts, it’s become a desirable new destination for Red Sea cruises. Since the first cruise to Saudi Arabia in January 2022, sailings to the kingdom have multiplied. Right now Jeddah is the country’s main cruise port, though as tourism development continues throughout the region, more ports are likely to open. Whether you’re a cruise enthusiast or a newbie, now’s the time to consider a Saudi Arabia cruise.

Norwegian Cruise Line — Middle East: Saudi Arabia & UAE (departing December 13, 2023)

red sea cruises 2022

You don’t have to wait until 2024 to take a Saudi Arabia cruise. Departing from Dubai on December 13, 2023, this seven-day Norwegian cruise visits Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, and Dammam in Saudi Arabia, before ending in Doha, Qatar. If you’ve never heard of Dammam before, it’s one of the kingdom’s most modern, bustling port cities, where you can visit local museums, vibrant markets, and stroll the scenic coastline. You can also take a ferry to a nearby artificial island (Marjan Island), known for its bike trails and iconic Khobar Water Tower. (Note that another NCL cruise with the very same itinerary will be departing on December 27, 2023.)

Cruise starts at $299

MSC Cruises — Saudi Arabia & Red Sea (January 2024)

red sea cruises 2022

MSC Cruises is one of the leading cruise lines operating sailings to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. They offer a wide range of itineraries, stopping in a variety of Middle Eastern ports, but the Saudi Arabia & Red Sea sailings scheduled for January 2024 are some of the best for seeing the region’s highlights. Five of the sailings start in Jeddah, where you can visit the New Jeddah Corniche promenade, King Fahad’s Fountain, and the still under-construction Jeddah Tower, which is slated to be the largest building in the world. The itinerary will take you to historic Petra, Sharm-El Sheikh resort city in Egypt, as well as Egypt’s Sokhna Port and Safaga, before heading back to Jeddah.

Cruise starts at $769

After leaving Saudi Arabia, you’ll head to Luxor and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, visit the ancient wonder of Petra, Jordan, and make a stop in Cairo before transiting through the Suez Canal to Greece.

Red Sea & Saudi Arabia, The Next Buzzing Cruise Destination

by Vishal Jain | Apr 15, 2022

The Red Sea coastline of Saudi Arabia is becoming a popular destination for cruise ships. With its sparkling turquoise waters and coral reefs, the coastline offers unique exploration opportunities.

The Red Sea ranks high on the list of most beautiful coastlines on Earth, and it’s no wonder that Saudi Arabia is becoming a popular destination for cruise ships. With its sparkling turquoise waters, marine parks and coral reefs, the Red Sea coastline of Saudi Arabia offers exploration opportunities that were once off-limits to foreigners.

Saudi Arabia might not be the first country that comes to mind when you think of cruise holidays, but the Red Sea is fast becoming a buzzing destination for those looking for something different. With plenty of activities onboard world-class cruise ships that port in Saudi Arabia and unique historic sites, heritage, cultural experiences and natural wonders inland, this Arabian coastline should definitely be on your travel radar.

Saudi Arabia is an untapped destination with a coastline that has been off-limits for years despite being right in the middle of the world’s busiest marine traffic highway, linking the Indian Ocean to the Suez Canal. However, Saudi Arabia is now opening up its coastline for cruise ships and is becoming a new destination for cruisers.

Saudi Arabia – a growing port of call for major cruise lines

Since the start of the 2021 cruise season, more than 70 cruise ships have made port calls in Saudi Arabia, including major cruise lines such as Viking Ocean , Silverseas , Scenic and MSC . The luxurious MSC Bellissima, one of MSC’s newest family-friendly cruise ships calls Jeddah Islamic Port her homeport. In addition, MSC Virtuosa made its maiden call to Jeddah in April this year while on her way to the Mediterranean and the British Isles for the summer season.

As part of the ‘Cruise Saudi’ initiative, cruise lines have added Saudi Arabia to their itineraries, and travellers are excited to explore this new destination. With Cruise Saudi’s continued efforts, it is only a matter of time before Saudi Arabia quickly becomes an established cruise destination in the Middle East .

Major destinations along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Coastline

Saudi Arabia’s coastline on the Red Sea is home to a fantastic array of coral reef habitats. These reefs, along with the mangrove forests found along the Saudi coast, play a vital role in the health of the Red Sea ecosystem. In addition, the coral reefs provide a critical source of food and shelter for many fish and other marine creatures.

The Red Sea coastline is dotted with the ruins of ancient trading ports that attest to the region’s rich seafaring history. These sites provide valuable insights into the trade routes and settlement patterns of the past. But, perhaps most impressive are the still-surviving settlements that were developed as fishing and trading ports. These settlements offer a glimpse into the everyday life of Red Sea merchants and fishermen.

The Farasan Islands are a haven for wildlife and nature lovers. This beautiful archipelago sits at the southern tip of Saudi Arabia, west of Jazan City along its coastline. It contains some absolutely breathtaking scenery and natural habitats for nesting sea turtles and seabirds.

A port call at Al Wajh is an invitation to explore the history of Arabia through sand and stone. The city’s white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are a stark contrast to the surrounding desert sands, and visitors can enjoy a variety of water sports such as snorkelling, diving and windsurfing.

In addition to its natural beauty, Al Wajh is also rich in history and culture. The city was once an important trading hub on the Incense Route, and its ancient fortresses and markets offer a glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s past.

Continue the exploration to the ancient city of AlUla with its citadel dating back to the 10th century. The old town has 900+ brick houses and 400 shops, with plenty of alleyways to explore.

Yanbu Al Bahr

Yanbu Al Bahr is one of the most popular ports of call on this coastline. The city is located on the Red Sea coast and is known for its beaches, warm waters and excellent scuba diving.

The Ras Al Abyad, also known as Coastal White Head for its pristine beaches on the coastline near Yanbu, features stunning beaches with pristine water and white sand and contains some all-female areas for those who want an escape without distractions.

The clear waters and abundant marine life make Yanbu a diver’s paradise. From the Seven Sisters Coral Reef to shipwrecks teeming with fish, Yanbu, ‘the Pearl of the Red Sea’ has something for everyone. And with a year-round climate that is perfect for watersports, Yanbu is the ideal place to enjoy the water, no matter your passion.

Ras Al-Sheikh Hameed and Sindalah Island

Heading north along the Saudi Red Sea coastline, towards the edges of Egypt’s Sinai and across from the waters of the world-famous Sharm el-Sheikh, we come to Ras Al-Sheikh Hameed and Sindalah Island , touching the Gulf of Aqaba and Strait of Tiran.

The Ras Al-Sheikh Hameed is a beautiful sandy cape with coral reefs and rich marine life just beyond the beach. Head to this cape for a stunning view of the Sinai Mountains of Egypt across the straits and gorgeous sunsets that silhouette the Sinai and the Red Sea.

Sindalah, an exclusive private island in the Red Sea, is a luxurious getaway for the privileged few. With five Royal Cabanas, an opulent spa, a beach club and two fine restaurants, Sindalah offer its guests the height of luxury and relaxation. The crystal-clear turquoise waters of Sindalah are a haven for snorkellers and scuba divers, and the beautiful sandy beaches are perfect for lounging in the sun.

MSC Splendida Red Sea Cruise 11-18 December 2022

Cool Cruiser

We have recently returned from this cruise. I have not done a cruise review for a long time but would like to share information and our experience of this cruise. I won't be adding photos.

We booked this cruise a few months ago and I was extremely excited about seeing Petra and Luxor. As we have been to the pyramids and the old Cairo museum in the past I was not bothered to see those again. I am aware that the museum has moved to the pyramids.

We booked a "Fly cruise" through a travel agent. Unfortunately the only option was flying to Hurghada which meant I was unable to visit Luxor. It was an uphill battle to get the tickets issued by MSC and we had to pester the TA for these. We only got our flights about a week prior to the cruise and had to fly a day early. This was not an issue as it was a Saturday and they put  us up in a resort overnight. Why MSC would use Hurghada(Safaga) I have no idea. There are very few direct flights from the UK to this port. We ended being on an Easyjet flight for the 5+ hours flight. Those who live in the UK would know that this is less than ideal.

Visas: We arranged our Egypt E-visas and Saudi visas very easily a couple of weeks prior to leaving.  For those who got the "pending" on the Saudi visa, we also had that,  but then found that the payment was taken and the visas issued within minutes. We did not require a visa for Jordan. This might be different for other countries.

More on the Saudi visa later.

The info is on the MSC site , just a little hard to find. It might also change from time to time so I suggest look closer to the time of your cruise.

We are Diamond on MSC and yet our boarding time was 16h00. It was quite a rigmarole getting on the ship as well, so be prepared. We had a transfer included. Our chap collected us from the resort and we were taken to Safaga. This took about an hour. We were dropped off at the terminal, did the usual bag drop off and then had to either walk some distance to the ship or wait for a coach to take us. They only let the coaches go once they are full so we decided to walk.

We only just managed to get a Mojito before the bars were closed for an hour for the safety drill. Herding cats sprung to mind as they were still trying to get people to do the safety drill the next day. Like the most cruise lines MSC asked you to watch the video in your cabin, call the number on the screen and go to your muster station to scan your card. Easy-peasy.

Dining times: First sitting was 19h00 and second was 21h30. We were first sitting which was great for us. We were allocated to a table for 6 but managed to change that a few days later. I cannot recall the opening times for the buffet but it stayed open for fairly late because a lot of excursions were long and passengers arrived back too late for the MDR.

Food: As this was a cruise with many Muslin passengers there was no pork of any kind on the ship. The breakfast sausages were either turkey and chicken frankfurters or beef sausages. The bacon was beef and looked pretty unappetising. Due to this there was no Eggs Benedict but Eggs Royale and Eggs Florentine were available.

The food both in the buffet and MDR was pretty good. There were lots of local options as well as the usual MSC fare. I had plenty of the local options and really liked them.

The ship: It was our first time on the Splendida and we really like the ship. She was spotless. The cabins were a bit dark(we had a fantastica balcony on deck 9 midship). The woodwork in the cabins is a very dark brown and the curtains a dark green/teal colour. Our cabin did not have a full couch but a single(uncomfortable) seat. The balcony was bigger than some and had much nicer furniture(sort of plastic rattan). The bathroom had an over bath shower with the dreaded plastic curtain. There were plugs and USB ports at the desk but not at the bedside which I suppose one would expect from an older ship.

I am going to leave things here for now but will add more on the weekend. Unfortunately I have to work to pay for more cruises.

If there are any questions I will answer as best as I can but please give me time to get back to you.

I was interested in Saudi Arabia as a port. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas.

A bit about the ports:

Luxor: I have mentioned before that we boarded in Safaga and I was unfortunately unable to go to Luxor.

Aqaba: Petra is supposed to be 2 hours from the port. I thought it would be an early arrival and off the ship quickly to spend as much time as possible at this amazing place. How wrong! We met in the theatre at 10:10. We docked a little before that. Then everyone on the coaches ready to go. Not a chance. We have to go in convoy. 10 odd coaches. Oh , and there is a truckers strike on(I know MSC could not have predicted this) so they are concerned about security. Fair enough. Not seen any unrest or for that matter many trucks. The 2 hour journey took 4 hours with multiple road blocks and delays.

We got to Petra about 15:00 I think. We were supposed to have lunch then but you only get to Petra once in a life time I think. We had the worst tour guide ever. She sprouted a large amount of utter nonsense about biblical stuff, geology etc. Gave minimal instructions getting off the coach with a result we had no idea where she was. Did not wait for everyone to get off and then start the walk. Same thing walking in Petra. She'd march off and then stop and start talking with only a handful being able to catch up or hear what she said. Did not really stop much along the way to discuss what was there. Once we got to the Treasury she said if you want you can walk back now and go and have lunch but be back at the coach at 16:45!!! Nothing about seeing the Rose city and it took probably 50 minutes to get to the Treasury.

We decided to forgo the expensive lunch we paid for as part of the excursion and spent more time walking around towards the amphitheatre before we headed back.

I am very unfit and a bit overweight. The plan was to get fit for Petra but unfortunately I got Covid at the end of October and was ill for three weeks. That put a spanner in the works for the get fit plan.

Walking into Petra is down hill and did not seem steep at all. Just very dusty. Believe me, it's steep. I thought I was going to die walking back. Of course you can get a buggy or horse but seeing we marched into the site at pace we thought we'd walk back and take more photos.

Lunch on the way back was a packet of ketchup flavoured crisps and a kitkat.

There are clean restrooms but no loo paper. Remember to take some tissues ladies.

Two things to take from our experience. DON'T book the lunch. Either get the packed lunch deal or pick something up in one of the shops/restaurants on the way out. Also make sure you take water and buy water for the way back.

As usual there were stragglers that did not pitch till nearly 17:30. Then we were again in another convoy of 20+ coaches going back to Aqaba under police escort with flashing lights. Only one stop this time but took 3 hours.

Jeddah: We booked an excursion which lasted for 4 hours. It was basically a coach trip along the Corniche with a few sites and then a walking tour with various stops. Supposedly visiting the Unesco heritage site of old Jeddah. We were stopped by a singing group of men(clearly a pre-arranged thing), walked through a "market" and visited a house where people could go for a loo break. It was padded out to the extreme. If I recall this was about £68 pp.

There was a shuttle bus to the city(I think free) and it is possible to get a map and do this on your own. I would suggest you do and not waste your money on the excursion.

My take on Jeddah. I have never seen so many unneutered cats and pregnant kittens in my life. I am a mad cat lady and this made me extremely sad. I asked the guide about TNR but they sadly do not do this here. If I could load the lot and bring them home I would have. I don't think my old boy(ginger and white nearly 16 year old) would have appreciated it. Don't thing borderforce UK or the husband would have been so keen either.

I'll get back to you tomorrow with a bit more. Bearette more Saudi info tomorrow.

Mike B Landlubber

I appreciate this, I am interested in going back to Egypt for a classic land tour (this would be my first time back since my first visit in about1997) and adding this tour on. I am intrigued by the chance to at least see a little of Saudi Arabia. I’m eager to hear anything you have to share!

Lisichka

How did you get a visa for Jeddah? Did the cruise ship arrange it?  How much was it?

Back again.

Regarding the Saudi visa. We got the eVisa and it cost $130 each if I remember correctly. You need this as far as I know, even if you don't get off the ship. I might be confused with the Egypt one here. For Egypt you need a multi entry visa even if you don't get off the ship. Pretty sure of that. They we selling the additional visas on board for $40 I think. When getting the Saudi visa follow the link through the MSC info page for Red Se cruises. There are many middle men doing these and clearly they charge more. We managed to get the Saudi visa money back from MSC because we booked a fly cruise. It was a massive performance though as the staff had no idea about this. Fortunately hubby took a copy of the webpage and they emailed head office and we got the money on the disembarkation day. They would have happily not stuck to their contract.

Back to the ports:

Yanbu: Once again arranged an excursion. Expensive yet again. We were on a coach to and ancient village close to the mountains travelling through desert. The ancient village was a cluster of mud huts and a water source which looked pretty modern. There were a few farmers around this area with small date farms. We then went back to Yanbu and walked around a bit. Total waste of time. The ship docks right next to the "old town". You can get off and stroll about yourself. It was quite lively the evening as there are lots of restaurants in the area and a small market as well. We did not get off the ship.

Sokhna: This is the port for Cairo and the pyramids. We stayed on the ship as we have been to the pyramids in the past(hubby twice).

Port security and customs:

I have already mentioned boarding in Egypt.

There was not much in Aqaba but they took our passports and returned them the following day. We just filed by the emigration officers. Same on the way back. Not a soul there.

Jeddah: Face to face with an emigration officer. They take your photo and finger prints on arrival. On return to the ship once again face to face and one finger print.

Yanbu: Just walked through.

Leaving Hurghada was beyond a joke. You walk past a chap who checks your visa. Then you go through the scanners with your cases and get patted down(fondled 🙂 ). Book your cases in a the desk. Go though emigration who looks at your passport, go through the scanners again and get patted down again and then you think thank goodness that is done and they do the same for UK flights before you board. Did not look whether I had liquids in my bag though and that is still in place.

Final thoughts:

Remember all the bars are alcohol free or closed when in Saudi and do not open until they leave Saudi waters. We got some wine before and kept the bottles in our cabin and borrowed a bottle opener from a bar man. This might not be an issue for some but we like our wine.

If you have absolutely no other way of seeing Petra, Luxor or the pyramids this cruise will be great. I think a land based visit will be much better. The excursions are just to rushed for these amazing places.

Once I have overcome my disgust of being patted down so many times I might go to Luxor and stay for a few days.

What is going to happen in Petra after it was evacuated today after a flash flood I am not sure.

We have been on a cruise a few years ago that went to Dubai, Fujairah and Muscat and we did not enjoy it. I think visiting the Middle East is a personal thing and some might love it. I think it is also a good option for Muslims to visit Mecca and Medina. I do not think non-Muslims could go on these excursions. Maybe Nuvolablue can help. I noticed he gave some info on the Roll call and it looks as if Petra was actually cancelled last week because of the Truckers strike.

Well, that's it. Now looking forward going back on the Virtuosa early March AND retirement in July.

I organized and booked this trip for my mother and can underline Alicat's feedback on this cruise.

- For Petra and Sohkna (Cairo) 20+ MSC Coaches. Please check the FB group for this itinary and book a private tour operator.

- If you pay 2000-3000 USD for this cruise then it's not worth it. What do you get? 4 Ports.

- Only book if you are a muslim, really like the middle east, short in time for 3 countries or especially wants to visit saudi arabia.

Was the Saudi visa cost reimbursed because you had a package from MSC that should include cost of visa? We are going on  this trip later in January as a fly cruise but booked with a travel agent and i have seen no mention of being able to be reimbursed for the visa we have to buy anywhere on msc website.

Great useful info about the tours - thanks.

Hi stephenSJ

We used a TA but they booked the MSC cruise and fly for us. Hubby found the bit about reimbursing somewhere in the small print about getting visas for this cruise. Assume it will be same for you as you are also in the UK. Might be different if booked from other countries. I doubt that he kept the info as he actually printed it out and if I remember the guest service people on the ship took the print out.

Good luck finding it. I suggest you search around and take a print out with just in case they want to wriggle out of repaying you.

Thank you for the review.  On this cruise does Port or Starboard matter for a balcony?

I have no idea. I mix my left and right up all the time so no idea which is which. I think our cabin had an even number. In Yahnbar we had a nice view towards the restaurant area where all the action was. Cannot remember the other ports. Sohkna looks post apocalyptic so I really do not think it matters. It was also extremely dusty out. There was a quarry or something next to the port.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

We are going to take the same cruise in April - thank you for helping with your thoughts about it!

How long did you took to disembark in Hurghada? Do you remember at what time you were 100% cleared to leave the port? Thanks José

Emerald Azzurra Itineraries

Emerald azzurra review, review of emerald azzurra.

The 2022-built Emerald Azzurra cruise ship is a superyacht with max passenger capacity 100. This is the first of two newbuilds in the Emerald Cruises fleet , as well as the company's first ocean-going vessel - followed by the sisterships Sakara (2023) and the larger Kaia (2026).

Azzurra is Vietnam-built (constructed by HLS-Halong Shipbuilding Company in Ha Long City ). HLS was contracted to build the hull and install all the machinery, while the yacht's interior fit-out was managed by a separate project team.

Azzurra is Emerald Cruises' 10th boat, having as fleetmates 9x riverboats and the sisterships Sakara and Kaia.

The vessel (IMO number 9903504) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311001053) and registered in Nassau .

The superyacht Emerald Azzurra has max passenger capacity 100 (plus 76 crew/staff).

The vessel features a sleek "megayacht" design (hull and superstructure), top-luxury accommodations with modern hotel amenities, premium restaurants, large wellness complex (gym, sauna, spa, massage rooms), two tender boats (used for passenger debarkation and embarkation in tender ports / without docking facilities), two Zodiacs (large-capacity motorized boats for coastal and inland expeditions), aft Marina platform for watersports activities (swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking), large infinity pool (with a glass front facing the stern), dedicated pool deck (with stern location, oval-shaped pool, sunbathing area with padded loungers, open-air Bar).

Emerald Azzurra also carries its own electronic bikes (Gocycle brand) from the premium manufacturer Karbon Kinetics Ltd (2002-founded by Richard Thorpe/McLaren Cars design engineer).

Emerald Waterways is a new (2014-established) river cruise shipping company and brand owned by Scenic Group ( Scenic Tours Australia). Emerald Waterways riverboats are well-known as some of the best on the market newbuild ships with premium facilities and superb services provided by professionally trained staff and crew.

On February 1, 2020, Emerald Waterways introduced the new brand "Emerald Yacht Cruises". It officially started operations in 2022 (February) with the inauguration of the yacht Emerald Azzurra, which was initially planned for July 2021.

The superyacht has as namesake the cruiseferry GNV Azzurra (1980-built).

Decks and Cabins

Of all Emerald Azzurra staterooms (50 total), 88% (44) are with a step-out balcony - excluding only Deck 3's Oceanviews (with windows).

Standard Balcony cabins are sized 29 m2 (310 ft2, including the veranda). The cabin balcony access is via floor-ceiling sliding glass doors. The veranda is furnished with two deckchairs and a small table.

The ship's largest passenger accommodations are the two Owner Suites (on Pool Deck 6) each sized 111 m2 (1195 ft2, including a large terrace). The smallest are the six Oceanview cabins (forward on Deck 3) each sized 19 m2 (205 ft2).

The boat has 7 decks , of which 6 are passenger-accessible and 4 with cabins.

Two Lifts (midship Elevators) interconnect all decks.

All staterooms are with contemporary design, luxurious en-suite bathrooms (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, hairdryer, premium toiletries, bathrobes, slippers), twin beds (convertible to double / Queen-size, Egyptian cotton linens, quality pillows), bedside cabinets (with recessed lights), wardrobe, electronic safe box (in the closet), mirrored writing desk (dressing table with chair), sofa, coffee table with chaise lounge chairs, mini-bar (refrigerator), phone, smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system / Internet, movies-on-demand), free Wi-Fi, individually controlled air-conditioning, bottled water (daily restocked), umbrella (used on land tours).

Bonus amenities (suite-only perks) include a walk-in closet, pillow menu, Welcome Gifts (bottle of champagne and fruit platter / upon arrival), mini-bar (daily restocked), coffee machine, tea-making facility, free laundry (2 items daily for Yacht Suites and Terrace, and 4 items daily for Owner Suites). Both Owner Suites additionally receive free room service (in-cabin dining) with served pre-dinner canapes and after-dinner sweets.

Shipboard facilities

The onboard food offering features local cuisine specialties (based on the visited ports along the current itinerary) and gourmet dishes (prepared with the freshest, locally sourced produce). The ship has 3 restaurants and 3 bars (lounges), including the pool deck's lounge. Breakfast and lunch buffets and a la carte dinners are served at Reflections Restaurant (full-capacity Dining Room on Deck 3).

Adjacent to the restaurant (aft) is The Terrace - an outdoor lounge that doubles as an alfresco dining venue (weather permitting). Onboard dining is complimentary and inclusive of beverages - soft drinks, beer and wine (by the glass) are waiter-served and free at all lunches and dinners.

Emerald Sakara yacht pool deck

On Pool Deck (deck 6) is located The Cafe (outdoor lounge served by its own bar).

Sky Bar (Deck 7) is an outdoor poolside bar that serves beverages and light snacks to Sky Deck's sundeck area (with Jacuzzi/spa pool).

Emerald Yacht Cruises sells fly-cruise deals which are ATOL-protected (Air Travel Organiser's Licence) and ABTA-protected (directly booked flights with non-ATOL airlines).

Itineraries

While certified for unrestricted passenger shipping operations in all regions (except polar), the yacht Emerald Azzurra is custom-designed to navigate in warmer climates, like Southern Europe's Mediterranean (Adriatic Sea, Aegean Sea), Red Sea (Arabia) and Indian Ocean (Seychelles), offering a unique superyacht cruising experience. The boat's smaller size (and water draft) allows it to visit ports that larger ships can't access.

Emerald Cruises' yachts offer seasonally (in spring and fall) cheap Transatlantic crossings between the Caribbean and Europe (RepositionCruises.com). Emerald Yacht Cruises also offers full ship charters for corporate and private clients.

How tensions in the red sea are disrupting cruise voyages.

A number of cruises, including an upcoming voyage on the MSC Splendida, have been cancelled or re-routed due to escalating tensions in the Red Sea.

Cruise companies are being forced to cancel or reroute voyages as tensions in the Red Sea escalate.

Royal Caribbean, Carnival Corporation and MSC Cruises are among those who’ve made the decision to adjust their itineraries, or pull voyages completely, to avoid passing through the Red Sea due to attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen.

Carnival Corporation has become the latest to announce changes to itineraries, confirming that it will reroute 12 ships across seven of its brands in May in order to avoid passing through the Red Sea.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the cruise operator stressed that it was “committed to the safety and well-being of its guests and crew” and had been “actively monitoring the situation in the Red Sea and surrounding region.”

It did not indicate which sailings were likely to be affected.

However, a number of Carnival Corporation brands, including Costa Cruises and Seabourn, have already announced cancellations and amendments to itineraries.

Costa Cruises recently announced that it was canceling a repositioning voyage scheduled to sail through the Red Sea in March.

“Given recent developments on the security environment and future uncertainties in the area, working in close consultation with global security experts and government authorities, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the cruise that was originally planned,” Costa said in a statement sent to those due to travel on the 19-night cruise from United Arab Emirates to Italy.

Meanwhile, Princess Cruises, another Carnival Corporation brand, has confirmed that it’s made the “difficult decision” to reroute world cruises aboard two of its ships, Island Princess and Coral Princess.

“Regrettably Island Princess’ World Cruise, which departed from Los Angeles on January 18, 2024, will no longer visit the Middle East (including Dubai) or Asia,” reads a statement from Princess Cruises.

“Instead, the itinerary has been revised to visit ports of call in Australia and will then travel to South Africa and sail to the west coast of Africa.

“From there the ship will proceed north to Western Europe and the Mediterranean, after which it will continue with its scheduled Atlantic crossing.”

The statement goes on to state that the itinerary for its upcoming world cruise on Coral Princess, scheduled to depart in April, is being “re-worked.”

Earlier this month, MSC Cruises canceled at least three repositioning voyages due to depart in April, including a 24-night cruise on board MSC Splendida from Durban, South Africa to Genoa, Italy as a result of the situation in the Red Sea.

Silversea also confirmed that it had canceled two upcoming voyages on board Silver Moon and “amended” the itinerary of a sailing between Aqaba, Jordan and Muscat, Oman to allow guests to disembark in Piraeus, Athens.

“We took care of arranging guests’ onward journeys from the new port of disembarkation,” a spokesperson for Silversea confirmed to CNN.

The adjustments come after a series of attacks by Houthi rebels on vessels transiting through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, which resulted in US and UK military strikes against Houthi targets earlier this month.

EU Red Sea Navy Mission Commander Hopes for More Ships to Repel Houthi Attacks

The commander of a European Union naval mission in the Red Sea wants to significantly increase its size to better defend against attacks by Houthi rebels

BRUSSELS (AP) — The commander of a European Union naval mission in the Red Sea wants to significantly increase its size to better defend against possible attacks by Houthi rebels based in Yemen, as just four warships are patrolling an area twice the size of the 27-nation bloc.

The EU mission — dubbed Aspides, from the Greek for “shield” — has escorted 68 ships and repelled 11 attacks since it was established less than two months ago. It only defends civilian vessels and does not take part in any military strikes. The southern part of the Red Sea is deemed a high-risk zone.

“Just a single transit of one of our ships between the two larger distances to the area might take about 10 days, and also to cross the high-risk area takes almost two days,” Greek navy Rear Admiral Vasilios Gryparis, the commander of the mission, told reporters in Brussels on Monday.

He said the high-risk zone “has seen multiple attacks in the past months” ranging from threats and intimidation to “complex attacks” using “shore, air and sea-based assets, drones and ballistic missiles.” No one has been hurt.

Nineteen of the 27 EU nations are involved in the mission but only four frigates are patrolling.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels, which control much of Yemen’s north and west, launched a campaign of drone and missile attacks on shipping in the Red Sea in November. They have also fired missiles toward Israel, although those have largely fallen short or been intercepted.

The attacks have hit maritime trade to Egypt and Europe, with only around half the usual number of ships moving through the area. It’s added up to two weeks of transit time for vessels that want to avoid the Suez Canal, hiking transport costs and shipping insurance.

The rebels have described their campaign as an effort to pressure Israel to end its war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The ships targeted by the Houthis, however, largely have had little or no connection to Israel, the U.S. or other nations involved in the war.

Their campaign has continued despite more than two months of U.S.-led retaliatory airstrikes .

The EU mission also remains “very vigilant” for any spike in attacks following last week’s airstrike, widely blamed on Israel , which destroyed Iran’s consulate in Syria, killing 12 people, including two elite Iranian generals, Gryparis said. Top Iranian officials have promised to retaliate.

“We call on Iran to show restraint and to use its influence to avoid escalation, and in particular, with relation to the Houthis,” EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said, but he added: “I don’t think Iran has full control (of) the Houthi decision-making. They have become quite autonomous.”
