Xfinity Popular channel lineup FAQ

What channels are included in basic cable from comcast/xfinity.

We don’t recommend Xfinity’s basic cable packages. There’s just no good reason to pay monthly for your local channels and subchannels since you can get them with an easy-to-install over-the-air (OTA) antenna for a one-time payment of $20–$50.

How to watch the Travel Channel without cable

travel channel number on xfinity

The Travel Channel (known stylistically as “Trvl Channel”) is one of the most popular national networks to focus on entertainment, lifestyle, and travel programming. It’s a subsidiary network owned and operated by Discovery, Inc., along with American Heroes Channel, Animal Planet, Cooking Channel, Destination America, DIY Network, Food Network, HGTV, TLC, and more. So, you’ll often see many of these channels bundled together in TV packages.

Is there a way to stream Travel Channel shows without traditional TV? Absolutely. We outline exactly how to watch Travel Channel without cable below. Here’s a hint, it involves an over-the-top (OTT) cable-alternative service. Keep reading for more.

Ways to watch the Travel Channel

According to Forbes, the Travel Channel’s most popular shows focus on tourism and far off places — these include America Unearthed, Expedition Unknown, Legendary Locations , and Zimmern List . There’s also a wide selection of supernatural programming with shows like E xpedition Bigfoot, Ghost Adventures, Most Terrifying Places in America, Paranormal Caught on Camera, The Dead Files, The Osbournes Want To Believe, UFOs: The Lost Evidence , and When Monsters Attack .

Watch Travel Channel live with your Wi-Fi connection instead of expensive cable contracts. This is where cable-alternative streaming services come in. Below are the top OTT services that carry the Travel Channel.

Get the Travel Channel

We gathered the most popular cable-alternative streaming services that offer the Travel Channel below. Keep reading to find out what other channels and features are included.

Stream the Travel Channel on fuboTV plus 105+ channels

Great all-around coverage for entertainment, lifestyle, news, and sports.

The Travel Channel and 105+ other channels come with fuboTV’s Family plan for $64.99/mo. These also include sports channels like ESPN and local channels, depending on your market area. Gain 50 more channels with fuboTV’s Elite plan for $79.99/mo. or its Spanish-language fubo Español, priced at $29.99/mo.

Record and save for later with fuboTV’s cloud DVR. The Family plan and fubo Español hold 250 hours of storage, while Elite provides 1,000 hours. You can also stream simultaneously on multiple screens with Family allowing 3 screens, Elite 5 screens, and fubo Español 2 screens.

Thinking about cutting the cord, but not sure if fuboTV’s a good fit? Check out the full list of channels and the differences between packages with our fuboTV review .

Hulu + Live TV carries the Travel Channel, among many others

A complete experience with on-demand and live TV programming .

If you want the Travel Channel, Hulu might be right for you. Hulu + Live TV starts at $64.99/mo. for upwards of 65+ channels like CNN, Discovery Channel, HGTV, and the Travel Channel. Also included with Hulu + Live TV is its full on-demand library and the ability to stream on 2 screens at once. You can drop the ads altogether with Hulu Premium + Live TV for $70.99/mo.

Every plan has 50 hours of cloud DVR that can be upgraded to 200 hours for $9.99/mo. with Hulu’s Enhanced DVR add-on. There’s also an Unlimited Screens add-on for $9.99/mo. And if you want both, Enhanced DVR + Unlimited Screens is available for $14.98/mo.

At a glance, Travel Channel’s Hulu coverage offers all the bells and whistles. But to know for sure, read our review of Hulu + Live TV, which highlights its add-ons, channel list, and features.

Watch live TV like the Travel Channel on Orby TV

Almost exclusively entertainment and lifestyle channels .

Orby TV isn’t technically a streaming service like the others on this list, but it’s worth a look. Rather than functioning through a Wi-Fi connection, Orby TV uses satellite hardware like DIRECTV. The hardware itself will run you a minimum of $250 in upfront costs and then a reoccurring charge for your Orby TV plan: Essentials ($40/mo.) and Extras ($50/mo.).

The Elite plan carries 44 channels, whereas the more premium Extras plan has a more robust 68 channels. Rather than simultaneous screens, you’ll need to pay an extra $100 per receiver. You can also add 100 hours of DVR to your account for the price of a cup of coffee ($4/mo.).

Philo includes the Travel Channel + entertainment and national networks

If you’re OK with no sports, Philo might be your live TV solution .

Priced at $20/mo., Philo is not only affordable but also carries an impressive 63 channels. The only catch is that there are no sports channels, but it does cover a range of entertainment and lifestyle networks like Animal Planet, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Hallmark Channel, Nicktoons, and, of course, the Travel Channel.

Philo provides an unlimited amount of cloud DVR storage that lets you save your recordings for 30 days. And you’ll also have the capability to stream on up to 3 screens simultaneously.

Sling TV streams popular national networks like the Travel Channel

The best customizable cable-alternative service .

Both Sling Orange and Sling Blue are priced at $30/mo. and offer the Travel Channel, along with other entertainment, lifestyle, and sports channels. While Sling Blue has over 45 channels with 3 simultaneous screens, Sling Orange delivers 30 channels with only 1 screen capable of streaming at a time. That’s because Sling Orange has coveted channels like ESPN and the Disney Channel. You can merge the channels and features from both plans with Sling Orange + Blue for $45/mo. All of Sling TV’s plans include 10 hours of cloud DVR storage. Luckily, you can upgrade it to 50 hours for an extra $5/mo.

Take a look at our Sling TV review , where we take a deep dive into add-ons, channels, features, and more.

Vidgo broadcasts live national TV, including the Travel Channel

A full-service cable-alternative TV service with reasonable prices .

Vidgo carries a well-rounded number of channels that include ABC, ESPN, FS1, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, TLC, the Travel Channel, and others. There are two primary plans — Vidgo Core for $45/mo. and Vidgo Plus for $55/mo. There are also two Spanish-language plans with Latino ($20/mo.) and Latino Plus ($30/mo.).

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to record and save programming for later. But Vidgo is on par with most other streaming services, allowing up to 3 screens to stream simultaneously.

Other ways to watch the Travel Channel

Is Travel Channel streaming possible outside of your TV provider’s app? The Travel Channel is also available via live stream on TravelChannel.com and its app. The app itself is free, but you’ll need to enter your TV provider’s information in order to watch. Although, there are a few episodes that the Travel Channel streams for free and generously rotates regularly.

Is there a way to search channels by number?

Is there a way to enter in a channel number like the old fashion way through the Xfinity Stream App?

In stead of having to scroll all the way down to channel 708, I can type 708 and it will go to that channel?

Xfinity: How to pair your XFinity remote with your television

TV or streaming remotes are among the most important tech devices in our homes. They're necessary to control the media you watch on your TV, and ensuring a good connection is essential. Comcast's Xfinity has several remotes to control its streaming devices, which can also be used to control your TV, whether it's a Google TV or not. This guide shows how to pair these remotes with your TV.

Best Xfinity Mobile plans in 2024

Xr16 - voice remote.

The XR16 works with a Flex TV Box provided by Xfinity, so you need the box and your TV to make the remote work.

  • Turn on your TV and Flex TV Box.
  • Change your TV input so that it's on the Flex TV Box input.
  • Press and hold the Microphone button and say "Program Remote." If your Flex TV Box is new, you must pair your remote with the Flex TV Box before you can pair it with your TV.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the remote for your TV.

When you complete this process, your remote can control your TV.

XR15 - Voice Remote

The XR15 works with the X1 TV Box, so make sure that box is also plugged into your TV.

  • Turn on your TV and X1 TV Box.
  • Change your TV to the X1 TV Box input.
  • Make sure your remote is paired to your X1 TV Box.
  • Look up the component codes for each piece of hardware you want to control with your TV on a phone, tablet, or computer. To find these codes, go to the Xfinity remote support page , select your remote, and select the type of device you want to pair. Then, search the list for your device's model to find a corresponding code.
  • When you have the codes, press and hold the Xfinity and Mute buttons until the light at the top of your remote turns green.
  • Use the number buttons to type the component code for the device you want to pair.

When the component is paired properly, the light at the top of the remote blinks green twice. If it doesn't work, it blinks red. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for additional devices you want to pair to the remote.

XR11 - Voice Remote

Pairing the XR11 is similar to the XR15 but with slight differences due to remote layouts.

  • When you have the codes, press and hold the Setup button on your remote until the light at the top blinks green.

How to export your Xfinity emails

Other xfinity remotes.

Xfinity makes several other remotes that do not have voice functionality. These remotes are all paired to your TV using the same method.

  • Turn on your TV.
  • Press your remote's TV ( Power ) button if it has one. Not all remotes have this button. If yours doesn't, continue to the next step.
  • Press and hold the Setup or Set button on your remote until the light at the top turns green or flashes twice, depending on your remote model.
  • Enter the component code for the device you're looking to pair.
  • Use the remote's TV button to see if it turns off the TV. If it works, the pairing was successful. If not, try steps 4 and 5 again.
  • To pair your remote to another device, press the applicable button on your remote (for example, Aux for a sound device) and follow steps 4 and 5.

This methodology pairs your TV and other components with your Xfinity remote.

Gotta control 'em all

Comcast's Xfinity service has several remotes for its streaming devices and other products. These remotes can be used to control your TV in addition to Xfinity services and are fairly easy to pair. If you also use Xfinity's mobile service but want to move to another carrier, you'll need to get a port-out PIN .

Can I use Xfinity Mobile when I travel internationally?

If you're traveling the world, you can take Xfinity Mobile with you. International roaming is supported for phones and tablets in over 200 countries. If traveling in one of the over 200 countries that support international roaming, you can talk, text message, and use data — just like at home.

If you’re already abroad and need assistance, call us for free at 1-720-728-5462.

International rates

There are two ways you can pay for calls, text messages, and data when you’re traveling abroad with Xfinity Mobile.

Global Travel Pass

Effective March 22, 2024, new Xfinity Mobile customers with unlimited data (either Unlimited or Unlimited Plus) have calls, text, and data to and from Mexico and Canada included with their service. If you have the By the Gig data option you would continue to pay $5 per day to use Global Travel Pass in Mexico and Canada. Upgrade your plan by heading to your account online or in the Xfinity app.

Add Global Travel Pass to any phone line and pay a flat rate for calls, text messages, and data for $10 per day per line in over 170 covered countries, or $5 per day per line in Mexico and Canada only. Global Travel Pass includes 512 MB of LTE data per pass per day, then data is available at 2G speeds. Data used while abroad will count toward your By the Gig or Unlimited data option.

Global Travel Pass does not cover usage on cruise ships or airplanes.

View Global Travel Pass FAQs .

Pay as you go

You can always pay as you go for each call made, text message sent, and MB of data used while abroad. Pay-as-you-go rates vary by country. This is your default international data option — even if you’ve selected Global Travel Pass, you’ll pay as you go in countries where Global Travel Pass isn’t available.

Search rates by country .

Before you travel internationally

Step one: turn on international data roaming.

You can check if international data roaming is already enabled on your Xfinity Mobile lines under International travel in the Activity tab in the Xfinity app or Xfinity Mobile My Account .

To qualify for international data roaming, you need to complete and pay for at least one Xfinity Mobile bill cycle (military personnel are exempt) and cannot have a past-due balance on your account.

If you meet these requirements, international data roaming will be enabled on your Xfinity Mobile line automatically when adding Global Travel Pass.

Step two: Prepare your device

Make sure your device is enabled for data roaming . You must do this through your device’s settings.

Step three: Search rates

Search ahead of time to see the pay-as-you-go rate for each country you’re traveling to, or if that country is covered by Global Travel Pass.

If you have roaming issues while traveling internationally

Try turning on airplane mode for about 30 seconds. Then turn off airplane mode and let your phone automatically select the best network.

If you're currently traveling internationally and your phone displays “No Service,” you can manually select a carrier by following the steps for your phone type below.

  • If the Settings app isn’t visible on your home screen, try swiping left from the edge of the screen to open the app library.
  • Select Cellular .
  • The option you see may vary depending on your iOS version, device model and location.
  • Please allow up to two minutes for the carrier names to appear.
  • Once available networks appear, select the desired carrier (e.g., Verizon, Vodaphone, etc.).

Samsung phones

  • Slide your finger down starting from the top of the screen.
  • Select Settings .
  • Select Connections .
  • Select Mobile Networks .
  • Select Network Operators .

Google phones

  • Slide up the bottom menu.
  • Select Network & Internet .
  • Select Mobile Network .
  • Turn Roaming on or off.

Motorola phones

  • From the Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  • Navigate to Settings , then Network & Internet , then Mobile Network .
  • Tap Roaming to turn on or off.
  • If prompted, read the “Attention” note about roaming charges and tap OK if you agree.

Minnesota Twins

Subscriber only, minnesota twins | comcast subscribers learned wednesday they can’t watch twins on bsn, the cable provider and diamond sports group failed to reach an agreement by tuesday’s deadline.

Twins shortstop Carlos Correa high-fives Byron Buxton after scoring a run.

Starting Wednesday, Comcast subscribers were no longer able watch any of the Bally Sports Regional Networks, affecting not just Twins fans but sports fans across the country. That’s because Comcast and Diamond Sports Group, which owns the Bally RSNs, were unable to reach a new carriage agreement by a Tuesday deadline.

“The Twins are disappointed by this massive disruption for our fans, who simply want to watch our games,” the Twins said in a statement. “This situation is a business negotiation between Comcast and Bally’s. The Twins have no role or voice in this matter. We are hopeful the two parties are able to come to an agreement as soon as possible.”

Comcast customers trying to tune into Bally Sports North on Wednesday were greeted with a message saying that the company had offered Diamond Sports Group “multiple options” to continue carrying their networks, all of which had been declined.

“We have been very flexible with Diamond Sports Group for months as they work through their bankruptcy proceedings, providing them with an extension on the Bally Sports Regional Networks last fall and a unilateral right to extend the term for another year, which they opted to not exercise,” Comcast said in a statement. “We’d like to continue carrying their networks, but they have declined multiple offers and now we no longer have the rights to this programming.”

As a result, Comcast is planning on applying a monthly credit to customers in coming weeks that will be between $8-10 per month.

Diamond Sports Group, in a statement of its own, alleged that Comcast “has refused to engage in substantive discussion.”

“It’s disappointing that Comcast rejected a proposed extension that would have kept our channels on the air and that Comcast indicated that it intends to pull the signals, preventing fans from watching their favorite local teams,” Diamond Sports Group said in a statement.

Already, Twins fans who use streaming services like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV have been unable to view games for years, a massive source of frustration both for the Twins and for many of their fans. Now, fans have even fewer options to watch the Twins.

Fubo and DirecTV will continue to carry Bally Sports North, and Twins fans who are out of market can watch games on MLB.TV. In-market fans will still face blackout restrictions on MLB.TV.

While it looked as if the Twins, hoping to expand their reach, might move on from Bally Sports North this offseason after their long-term contract expired, they ended up re-upping with Diamond Sports Group for the current season.

Caleb Boushley called up

The Twins called up Caleb Boushley, a Wisconsinite, on Wednesday morning to add a fresh arm to the bullpen.

Boushley has been pitching out of the Triple-A Saints’ rotation, where he had a 4.00 earned-run average across five starts. He entered Wednesday having made just one major-league appearance in his career, pitching for his hometown Milwaukee Brewers last season.

“It gets your heart racing when you get the call,” he said. “There is a slight familiarity with the process now. I’ve done it before. I’m just excited to have an opportunity again.”

To make room on the roster, the Twins optioned Kody Funderburk, who threw two innings on Tuesday, to Triple-A. The rookie had a 3.38 ERA.

The Twins will return home to Target Field on Friday with Chris Paddack on the mound to host the Red Sox.

Chasten Buttigieg on Gate B5, Sour Patch Kids, and travel as a relationship test

We caught up with the author, teacher, and lgbtq+ advocate to talk about all things travel.

Chasten Buttigieg in Faro, Portugal.

Sitting in the airport for five hours isn’t something most people would call “fun,” but author, teacher, and LGBTQ+ rights advocate Chasten Buttigieg says he’s always been enamored with travel and wouldn’t mind it. In a recent Zoom call, he recalled how, as a young child, he would “whip out the phone book, find the numbers of airlines, and call to ask how much it would cost for two adults and three children to go to, say, Orlando,” said the Traverse City, Mich., native, who on May 9 will be the featured speaker at Boston Spirit magazine ’s LGBT Executive Networking Night. “Then, I would present my mom, on a steno pad, a breakdown of flights and costs. Of course my family couldn’t afford that. Those poor customer service agents…” Fast forward to today and Buttigieg, 34, is still a big fan of travel. His husband, Pete Buttigieg — the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., and 2020 presidential candidate who’s currently the US secretary of transportation — proposed to him at Gate B5 at Chicago O’Hare International Airport in December 2017. “It really threw me by surprise,” he said of the proposal, which he thought would be in Malta. But Buttigieg explained that he first started talking to his future husband on a dating app while he was waiting for a delayed international flight at Gate B5. “When I was substitute teaching in Chicago, I worked for the [school’s] exchange program and would meet the students at international arrivals and take them to domestic. There was a long delay and we struck up a conversation.” They married in 2018 and are the parents of 2½-year-old twins, Penelope and Gus. Buttigieg published “I Have Something to Tell You,” in 2020 (after coming off the campaign trail with his husband). The bestseller recounts his childhood in a conservative Midwestern family and his journey to finding acceptance as a gay man. Buttigieg said he’s looking forward to speaking at the Boston Spirit magazine event. “I like any opportunity to bolster our community, to come together with our community, and celebrate how far we’ve come while recognizing how far we have to go,” he said. “I’m really honored that they invited me to speak.” We caught up with Buttigieg, who lives with his family and rescue “puggle” Buddy, in Traverse City and Washington, D.C., to talk about all things travel.

If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?

I’ve been itching to get back to Germany. I studied abroad [there] in high school and still keep in touch with some friends and my host family. They even came to my wedding! My host mom used to make incredible schnitzel and potatoes. I’d love to sit at her table again.

Do you prefer booking trips through a travel agent or on your own?

Myself. Ironically, some of my friends refer to me as a travel agent, because I am often teaching them about airline miles and point hacks. It becomes a bit of a game for me. In fact, we booked our honeymoon merely on how far we could get with our miles.

Thoughts on an “unplugged” vacation?

Sounds incredible right about now. So much of our work demands us staring at screens and being in constant contact. Sometimes a quiet space and a good book is all I need — whether that be on a beach or just in my living room.

What has been your worst vacation experience?

A quick trip to Argentina for work and my luggage was lost. I had to quickly find outfits suitable for work and necessities. This is why I try to never check a bag.

What is your favorite childhood travel memory?

One summer I came home from college and my dad and I drove around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a few necessities and our fishing poles. We crisscrossed the state and stayed in roadside cabins or campgrounds. I think about that trip often, and how precious that time with him was.

Do you vacation to relax, to learn, or for the adventure of it all?

I like having adventure days and quiet days. But I can’t sit still for an entire vacation. There has to be an element of learning or adventure in between the relaxation. I like visiting a local site or going for a hike. I find those opportunities to create lasting memories — and better photos — versus just sitting at a pool.

What book do you plan on bringing with you to read on your next vacation?

I have an embarrassing number of books on my nightstand that I should pick from, but I have to admit that I love buying a book in an airport bookstore on vacation. So, I don’t know yet. That’s part of the adventure.

If you could travel with one famous person/celebrity, who would it be?

Kristen Wiig seems to have the kind of fun and chaotic energy my friend group exudes.

What is the best gift to give a traveler?

Some of my must-haves: noise-canceling headphones, travel steamer, and mini soapsheets that disintegrate in your hotel sink for quick overnight washes.

What is your go-to snack for a flight or a road trip?

Nothing beats an in-flight ginger ale. For a road trip? Pringles and Sour Patch Kids watermelon [flavor].

What is the coolest souvenir you’ve picked up on a vacation?

I don’t know if this counts as cool, but we collect magnets from every place we travel to together — airports don’t count. Our refrigerator is covered in magnets from places we’ve been together over the last nine years. It’s a great souvenir because it’s small enough to put in your backpack and now we get to look at this collage of places we’ve explored and experienced together.

What is your favorite app/website for travel?

I refuse to give away my secrets.

What has travel taught you? A lot about partnership. If you can handle flight cancellations, lost baggage, and 100-degree days in the sun together in a rental car without air conditioning, then you might have a good thing going.

What is your best travel tip?

The adventure starts the moment you leave home, not the moment you arrive. Cherish all of it. And with the right friends or partner, sitting in an airport for five hours can be fun.
