Each episode features a different Italian backdrop, taking Bocelli from St Peter’s Basilica through Tuscany’s rolling hills, towards the medieval fortress of Monteriggioni and on to his hometown of Lajatico.

Along the way, Bocelli reflects on life’s biggest questions with friends and family, and performs with talented artists, including: 2Cellos, 40 Fingers, Beatrice Venezi, Clara Barbier Serrano (Andrea Bocelli Foundation Scholarship Winner), Katherine Jenkins, Matteo Bocelli, Michael W. Smith, Ramin Bahrami, Tauren Wells, TAYA, and Tori Kelly.

Journey with Andrea Bocelli in thrilling music special this Holy Week

A new documentary that follows Andrea Bocelli and his wife Veronica as they travel the Via Francigena on horseback, meeting a star-studded lineup of faith-based singers along the way, is coming to theaters in time for Holy Week.

Titled THE JOURNEY: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli , this 90-minute feature film combines breathtaking Italian landscapes, world-class musical performances, and musings on the virtues of religious music, silence, and family to present the must-see faith film of the season . 

This film is an incredibly personal project for Bocelli, who opens himself up to audiences for rare glimpses into his life and family, which are revealed through conversations with his wife, Veronica, and the many guest artists who join him for stints of the trip. In the beginning of the film, for example, Bocelli reveals that his first horse was a gift from his late father just prior to his death , which immediately sets an intimate tone for THE JOURNEY.

As the couple ride through the quiet countryside, Bocelli remarks on the value of silence, in regards to both music and faith development. Here, Bocelli becomes a full fledged philosopher, likening the silence between notes of a song to the silences between moments in our lives. It is in these moments that the music and its rhythm take form, and similarly it is the time in which we can bring form to our own faith through such prayerful interaction with the Almighty.

As the Bocellis proceed through the Via Francigena, the famed Italian pilgrimage route that extends more than 1,000 miles and is Europe’s oldest pilgrimage route, they are joined by many high profile Christian singers. The first guest of the film is Tori Kelly, who seems like a natural horse rider. We don’t want to spoil the set list, but we will note that Kelly sings two songs, one supported by a phenomenal Gospel choir and the other a duet with Bocelli, accompanied by the renowned guitar quartet, 40 Fingers . 

The next guest to join Bocelli is Grammy Award winning pianist Michael W. Smith, who performs several songs and even shows off his skills on the organ in a quiet Italian church. He and Bocelli sit down for a conversation on the pride they take in performing music of faith, likening their craft to a vocation. Smith’s candle-lit performance in an ancient Roman ruin was among the most memorable visuals of the film.

While we’re talking about visuals, it’s hard to overstate the beauty of THE JOURNEY’s cinematography. Wherever they go, be it on a dirt road on Italy’s rolling hills, at the Vatican, inside various storied churches, or at Bocelli’s villa, this film is a veritable feast for the eyes . This too speaks to the personal nature of the film, as we see a blind man continuing to deepen his faith, even as he cannot see the awe inspiring sites designed to spur devotion within the faithful. 

As the film progresses, singer Tauren Wells joins the group, during which he reveals that he had never been on a horse before the filming . Be that as it may, he rides well and the two share a conversation on the transformative power of music, before Wells gives a thrilling performance of one of his best songs, accompanying himself on piano. 

Soon after, Bocelli meets up with Taya, of Hillsong UNITED, who sings one of her most famous songs while accompanied by Bocelli on piano. Here Bocelli shows off his multi-instrumental talent, all the while adding rich harmonies to support Taya. 

Our favorite moment of the film was when Andrea met up with his daughter, Virginia, at the Basilica of Santa Christina. Here, Bocelli remarks upon the virtue of fatherhood and the pride he takes in passing his faith down to his children . The shots of Bocelli taking his daughter around to share various aspects of Catholicism are simply heartwarming. Bocelli also shares a similar moment with his son Matteo, who reads his father a touching letter he wrote himself.

All of these elements and guest singers come together for a final song that cements THE JOURNEY as a monumental and thrilling musical extravaganza. It’s hard to call it the best song of the show, as THE JOURNEY is just brimming with some of the most high quality religious songs of both the classical and contemporary songbooks , but the scope of the performance is practically dizzying as the camera bounces around to the various beautiful settings of the film. 

We could go on and on about the immense beauty which THE JOURNEY packs into just an hour and a half, but words are insufficient to convey such tremendously touching audio and visuals . Instead, we’ll highly recommend that all lovers of music, art, and the Catholic faith see this excellent documentary on the big screen, where it will be running in theaters across the US from April 2-6.

Classical Icon Andrea Bocelli Signs With Universal Music Publishing Group

Legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli signs an exclusive global publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group.

Universal Music Publishing Group ( UMPG ), the global publishing division of Universal Music Group, has announced classical icon Andrea Bocelli has been signed to an exclusive publishing agreement through UMPG’s Classics & Screen department.

One of the most successful classical singers in modern history, Bocelli is celebrating his 30th anniversary in music this year. Through the new agreement, UMPG will represent Bocelli’s future works, as well as his latest album, A Family Christmas.

Andrea Bocelli has sold over 90 million albums and generated over 16 billion streams. A longstanding ambassador for Italian culture worldwide, Bocelli drew global attention in 2020 with his “Music for Hope” event, which became one of the biggest musical livestream performances to date.

“We are honored to be joining the Universal Music Publishing Group family. Building upon our longstanding partnership with Universal Music Group, this collaboration marks a significant milestone in Andrea’s journey,” said Veronica Berti Bocelli, CEO of Almud Music, and Maverick Management’s Francesco Pasquero, in a joint statement.

“As we celebrate Maestro’s 30th anniversary this year, we are excited to continue expanding Andrea’s legacy and reach even greater heights with the support of UMPG.”

“Andrea Bocelli is not only a legendary tenor, but an artist who has established his place in the canon of classical and popular music,” added Natasha Baldwin, Executive Vice President of Classics & Screen at UMPG.

“As we celebrate his third decade in the industry and immense contributions to music history, we are absolutely thrilled to welcome Andrea to UMPG’s Classics & Screen family as his global publisher.”

The new publishing agreement builds on Bocelli’s historic relationship with Universal Music Group (UMG), having distributed his albums for over 25 years through its longstanding relationship with Sugar Music.

In 2021, Bocelli signed directly to UMG for the first time in a global and multifaceted recording agreement. All his previous recordings will remain under Sugar Music, in an exclusive license agreement with UMG.

Andrea Bocelli Announces Holiday US Tour in 2024

O ne of the world’s most beloved Italian tenors just announced that he will embark on a US tour this holiday season! This short but sweet December tour will span numerous US cities, including New York, Miami, San Diego, Los Angeles, and more. The Los Angeles concert will also mark the first time that Andrea Bocelli has ever performed at the Kia Forum. There will be no opening acts for this tour.

The Andrea Bocelli 2024 Holiday Tour will start on December 4 in San Diego, California at Pechanga Arena. The final date will be December 22 in Miami, Florida at Kaseya Arena.

Ticketmaster will be the main platform for the holiday tour dates. A number of different presale events will begin on April 9 at 10:00 am CDT, including fan club, Ticketmaster, Spotify, and Citi cardmember presales.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on April 16 at 10:00 am local. A lot of tickets are going to sell out during the presale events. Bocelli’s extended tour dates begin on Dec. 4 in San Diego and will wrap up on Dec. 22 in Miami.

While on these December tour dates, the Italian tenor will perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Dec. 18 - 19 .

This tour will be in support of his 2020 album “Believe.”

At all of his December shows, fans can expect to hear holiday staples as well as cuts from Bocelli’s No. 1 album “A Family Christmas.”

Universal Music Publishing Group has announced that legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli has been signed to an exclusive, global publishing agreement through UMPG's Classics & Screen department.

One of the most successful and influential classical singers in modern history, Bocelli this year celebrates his 30th anniversary in music. Through the new agreement, UMPG will represent Bocelli's future works, as well as his latest album, “A Family Christmas.”

Having set countless sales records, Andrea Bocelli has sold over 90 million albums to-date and generated more than 16 billion streams. The celebrated tenor has become a longstanding ambassador for Italian culture around the world and drew worldwide attention in 2020 with his record-breaking ‘Music for Hope' event which became one of the biggest musical live stream performances of all time. Across his illustrious career, Bocelli has received six GRAMMY Award nominations, six Latin Grammy Award nominations, a Golden Globe, seven Classical BRITs, seven World Music Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

One of the world's most recognisable voices, Bocelli has performed for four Presidents of the United States of America, three Popes, the British Royal Family, and many Prime Ministers. He has sung at high-profile ceremonies including the Olympics, the World Cup, the UEFA Euro 2020 Opening Ceremony, the Premier League final, the Ballon d'Or, the Universal Expo in Shanghai in 2010 and in Milan in 2015. He has performed in all the greatest concert halls and opera houses around the world, as well as major international arenas. Bocelli recently sang at the 24th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards and the 96th Oscars. He will also become the first classical artist in history to headline London's BST Hyde Park 2024.

The new publishing agreement builds upon Bocelli's historic relationship with Universal Music Group (UMG), the world's leading music-based entertainment company, having distributed his albums for over a quarter of a century through its longstanding relationship with Sugar Music. In 2021, Bocelli signed directly to UMG for the first time after more than 25 years of collaboration (in particular with Decca Records), in a global, multifaceted recording agreement. All of his previous recordings will remain under Sugar Music, in an exclusive license agreement with UMG.

Across his meteoric career, Bocelli's works have become hallmarks of cultural significance. From his early career singing with Luciano Pavarotti , to major international success with “Con te partirò (Time To Say Goodbye)” with Sarah Brightman , “The Prayer” with Celine Dion , and “Vivo per lei”, among many others. Bocelli is renowned for his unique voice and his collaborations beyond the world of classical music – in particular, he has duetted with such major names as Ed SHeeran , Jennifer Lopez , Christina Aguilera , Dua Lipa, Bono, Ariana Grande , Stevie Wonder , Alison Krauss , Tony Bennett , Josh Groban , and even The Muppets.

In 2017, autobiographical film “The Music of Silence” – inspired by Bocelli's self-penned novel of the same name – was released to resounding critical and commercial success. He broke records again on Easter Day 2020, uniting millions around the world with his emotionally charged “Music for Hope” performance from the historic Duomo cathedral in Milan, one of the biggest musical live stream performances of all-time. The broadcast saw 2.8 million peak concurrent viewers – the largest simultaneous audience for a classical live stream in YouTube history. In November that year, Andrea Bocelli 's album. “Believe” was accompanied by another major live stream, ‘Believe in Christmas', which became the most successful classical music livestream to date, selling more than 70,000 tickets to fans in 120 countries.

Musically gifted from birth, Andrea Bocelli is one of the most celebrated singers in modern history. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Opera Singing from the “G. Puccini” Music Conservatory in La Spezia and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Pisa, Italy. He was honored by the Italian Republic with a Grande Ufficiale Italian Order of Merit (Grand Officer of the Italian Republic) and he was bestowed the title of Ambassador of the Italian Republic of San Marino. During the Opening Ceremony of the World Economic Forum 2015 in Davos (Switzerland), he was given the prestigious Crystal Award, in recognition of his work an artist and philanthropist. In 2016, the University of Macerata awarded him with an Honorary Degree in Modern Philology.

In 2011, he founded the Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF) to empower people and communities in vulnerable situations. It has since grown into an independent non-profit led by world-class professionals that oversee the strategic development of projects in Italy and abroad.
