Trains are the most conducive way of transport to reach Bishnupur. There are several trains from Kolkata to Bishnupur. Or else you can reach Bankura Railway Station and from there get into a local train for the destination. On the other hand, the flight option is only limited to Kolkata. There is no airport service in Bishnupur. From the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Dum Dum, you need to get a train from Howrah for Bishnupur.

The location is good. It is easily accessible from all the temples, shopping facilities, bus terminus and railway station. The property is also very big and well maintained. Room are really good, well decorated and spacious. Service is also good. But the food is pathetic.

Spent two nights at this hotel. And it was a pleasant one. Clean room, large bathroom and fast wifi, what else do you need from an affordable stay? Oh, the staff was also helpful at all times. What surprised me the most is that you could select a ground floor room while booking online, making the place easily accessible for elderly people and those with mobility issues.

Simple but clean and lovely guest house with really excellent food. Can't recommend the food highly enough. Staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the best places to stay in Bishnupur.

Excellent govt property

We visited the place in December 2020 with family and I must say that this is one of the finest WBTDCL properties. We booked (through wbtdcl website) 3 ac delux double bed rooms - two were in 1st floor & 1 was in 2nd floor. Neat & clean big rooms (with garden facing balcony) & bathrooms (rooms were with all modern amenities). Garden is very well maintained. All staffs were wearing masks, covid protocols were being maintained properly. Food was another plus point - extremely tasty & probably the best in Bishnupur. From complimentary breakfast to a-la-carta items - everything was just awesome - & dahi - uff, difficult to forget the taste. All staffs were very well behaved. They have huge space for car parking & driver's accomodation was also wonderful (as per our driver). The location of the hotel is excellent and all major attractions are nearby (for example - Rasmancha is just 2 min walk). Just keep in mind - like any WBTDCL, here also, gst on the room rent needs to be paid on the location. More

I visited Bishnupur in the month of January, 2021 with my family. The location of the lodge is excellent. The famous tourist locations are near by and easily accessible from the lodge. The food quality is good. The cost of food is also moderate. The lodge is clean. The dinning area has nice outdoor view. The play area for kids is an added attraction for children. The place is highly recommended.

We travelled to Bishnupur Tourist Lodge during Mar'21 for 3 days after online booking . Most of the times bookings are full and after trying multiple times, we managed to book 1 AC deluxe room at ground floor for first 2 days and another AC deluxe room at 2nd floor for the third day . The place is clean, beautiful and spacious . Staffs are well behaved . In fact, 2-3 staffs are very helpful . Room Service is specifically not available . But, if you require anything like extra pillow for child, mineral water, extra towel etc. , they would help you with this . We liked the 2nd floor deluxe room rather than ground floor because of backside garden view more beautiful from balcony . However, since there is no lift, so, staying at first/second floors would be a challenge for aged people . Backside garden with sitting area and 2 swings are nice where you can spend your precious time with friends, relatives and family as well as can walk in the early morning, evening or, post dinner or, anytime you want . The Rashmancha is at a walkable distance and very good place to spend time there . We enjoyed visiting there and some other nearby places/temples in a auto and took taking pics of marvellous terracotta wonders of yesteryears . The auto driver was very helpful and kind hearted . We also went to Mukutmanipur dam, Jaipur forest and Banalata Resort on 2 different days . Please try to have lunch or, snacks from Banalata Resort .. Foods was quite tasty and unique in nature. Try their Rajbhog, which is truly amazing . Big area with staying facilities . But, at the higher price . Just visiting there and having some pure food items from their restaurant would be a good choice . All workers there are mostly women . So, good initiative by another woman who is the owner of this property . Restaurant is at ground floor and food might not be that much tasty with limited choice and bit overpriced . But, at the same time, safe for All from all aspects including health . You may have option to go outside . But, we took all our meals here safely and remained in good health . Complementary breakfast is of 2 choice only, bread-butter-omlette Or, Puri- Sabji with tea . Being govt facilities, it would be great to maintain this property with more precautions, innovations and thinking of guests' comfort, facilities and friendliness .. Regarding tours and travel, we got reference from this tourist lodge about Dilip da (M : +91 94345 27699) who is a real gentleman with good personalities and understandings . He arranged our tours for 2 days in 2 different cars . 1 d for Jaipur forest, Chatal, Banalate Resort and 1 d for travel from Bishnupur to Manadarmani . 2nd driver Mithu was just down 6to earth personality and added value to our entire journey . I wish them 'All the Best' to appreciate their effort to continue cooperating with guest and ensure their safety and valuable experience . Keep it up while Staying Safe.. Suggest everyone to visit Bishnupur for 2-3 days managing a short break from their daily life ...Thank you All who contributed to our happiness .. 👍🏻

An enormous sprawling campus, ill-maintained, teeming with flies, mosquitoes and stray dogs. As is the wont of a government establishment, it is situated in the middle of the town, within easy reach of the laterite stone and terracotta wonders of yesteryears. But the food is BAD. And OVERPRICED. The complimentary breakfast can compete with hospital fare, especially the potato curry, which is a white colored abomination. For lunch, although an extensive menus is available, the emphasis is on the "Thalis", which are reasonable priced but VERY VERY POOR in quality. The watery gravy, with excess of chilies is the same, whether one orders chicken or fish or egg. For dinner, one as to order a la carte, by 6 pm, or go hungry. Stringy fragments of meat and bone pieces are served as over-priced mutton curry. But one has no other options; In fact, Bishnupur town as a whole has no options for decent, hygienic food. For a day, it may be OK, but for a long stay like mine, it was a torture and a waste of money. The staff of the Lodge are smiling and cooperative. Everyone is friendly - the guides, the toto drivers, the cab drivers and the shop keepers selling terracotta memorabilia. This WBTDC Lodge, quite expensively priced (I paid approx. Rs 3200+ per day, for a large AC room, with a horrifying complimentary breakfast), will face competition from next door, lesser known Hotel Annapurna. I would have shifted there myself, but WBTDC takes full advance payment. Coming to the town: to repeat, the temples and other archaeological marvels from another age are stunning. Really impressive. The terracotta memorablia are worth buying, but difficult to transport back home due to fragile nature and intrinsic weight. Nearby places touted, like Gongoni or Panchmura artisan village etc. are pure hog-wash. Avoid.

Situated at an Awesome location.the tourist home is well maintained. It's definitely clean and hygiene, most basic facilities are available here. Ample space for parking is available .the service is really good.

My second visit to Bishnupur, and the tourist lodge. Noticed that the lodge is going through a major renovation. Stayed in a renovated room in the annex wing (room 301) which was recently renovated. The room/bed were comfortable, but there is not enough space to keep luggage, toiletries etc. The bathroom was clean with hot water available through a water heater. The staff were friendly, and the food available in the restaurant (we had lunch, dinner and breakfast) was freshly made and very good. I am sure that this place will look much better after the renovation is complete.
