Camila Cabello hilariously confirms Familia tour

60th Annual Grammy Awards Red Carpet

Camila Cabello  announced her third studio album,  Familia , is arriving sometime this year and, for the first time, confirmed that she will be heading out on tour.

Taking to  TikTok  on Tuesday, the “Don’t Go Yet” singer shared a brief video clip, titled “The US during the Familia tour.”  The snippet shows the Grammy nominee pretending to be on stage and holding out the microphone to hear the imaginary audience sing along while the first notes of  Daddy Yankee ‘s “Gasolina” blare in the background.

The audio then cuts to a woman horribly flubbing the lyrics and Camila jokingly looks around in confusion.

This is the first time Camila has mentioned the Familia tour.  She has yet to confirm when it starts and where it’ll take her.

When announcing her third studio album over the summer, Camila  explained  it was “inspired by two things: family and food. Your family by blood, but also your chosen family.”   Familia , she added, celebrates her Cuban heritage.

She began  teasing  the next single off the album last week but has yet to reveal when we’ll get to hear it.

Camila Cabella is ready to get back on the road -- but first, she needed to walk the star-studded red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala !

ET's Rachel Smith spoke with the 25-year-old musician at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, where she discussed the inspiration behind her Atelier Prabal Gurung gown as well as what's next for her now that she's released the Familia album.

This year's Met Gala theme was "gilded glamour, white tie," and Cabello and Gurung definitely understood the assignment. The "Bam Bam" singer turned heads in a white silk duchesse satin choli gown that included a hand-draped skirt that was suspended from a bodice. Making the look even more stunning was the hand-cut and hand-painted flowers embroidered on the interior.

"She is so inspiring, I love her," Gurung gushed to ET about Cabello. "I love her music. I’ve always loved it and when I asked her to come with me as a date, it was so inspiring just to see she was so full of it, without hesitation."

The acclaimed designer jokingly added, "And also the fact that [Camila] did her homework and found out, you know, who I am."

Gurung continued to praise Cabello, musing, "She’s been a dream to work with, I can’t even tell you."

As for how Cabello herself felt about the theme and her style, which was "sustainable and upcycled," she told ET, "I think the Gilded Age represents a time of this big industry. You know, innovate and use that American spirit of innovation and ingenuity to take us to the next level."

Now that Cabello has another Met Gala under her belt, ET wanted to know if she's planning on touring with her new album, Familia . "I would absolutely love to tour this album. I I love this album," she exclaimed. "I don’t know [when], but I want it to happen."

Also on the red carpet was Cabello's ex-boyfriend, Shawn Mendes. Check out his dapper Met Gala look in the video below.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 26: Camila Cabello attends the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards at Staple...

Camila's New Album Title Has A Deep Meaning To Her

Her new era is going to be fire.

Camila Cabello has a new era on the way! The day she returned with her latest single “ Don’t Go Yet ” on Friday, July 23, the star announced her third album, Familia, is coming soon. It follows her previous two records, Camila , which she dropped in January 2018, and Romance , which arrived in December 2019. Along with her album announcement, Cabello shared the inspiration behind her upcoming project. Just like its title implies, Camila Cabello's Familia album, which means “family” in Spanish, will be all about connecting with her roots. Here’s everything you need to know about it before it arrives, including its release date, tracklisting, music videos, and more.

“Don’t Go Yet” marked Cabello’s first new music in two years. She explained in a July 23 Instagram that the song was the first she created off her upcoming record with producers Scott Harris and Mike Sabath. “That first day of working together, we wrote this song after listening to old Cuban songs and playing with my dog Tarzan,” she revealed, adding producer Ricky Reed helped finish the track. “These guys have become my true friends and we created a really loving and inspiring creative space.”

Cabello then explained the idea for Familia came from similar experiences of connecting with others. “This whole album to me was inspired by two things: family and food. Your family by blood, but also your chosen family. Who you want to break bread with. Who you want to sit at the dinner table with, cook a meal for, get wine-drunk with, and dance in the living room with,” she wrote. “To me, those are the moments that make me glad to be alive, those moments of collective joy and true vulnerability and connection with other people. Moments where the food you cooked together feeds your soul and so does the laughter, conversation, and emotional intimacy.”

The singer ended her message by saying she hopes her album will inspire fans and their families to connect with each other, too (mainly through dance parties). Since you don’t want to miss out, here are all the details you need to know about Cabello's Familia before it drops.

Familia Release Date

Cabello has yet to announce the release date for Familia , but considering she already dropped the first single off her new album, it will likely arrive before the end of 2021.

Familia Tracklisting

So far, the only song that has been confirmed to feature on Cabello’s new album is “Don’t Go Yet,” which is about spending time with someone special. During a July 23 interview with Apple Music, the star said the rest of the songs off Familia will involve a similar theme of being together with loved ones. She revealed she came up with the theme after being isolated at home due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. “[I learned] how to be a human and develop interests and passions outside of the studio and outside of music,” she said. “I think that brought me really close to my family.”

Watch Cabello talk about her new music below.

Familia Music Videos

Cabello released the music video for “Don’t Go Yet” on July 23, which you can watch below.

Familia Pre-Order Date

Now that you’ve learned all about Familia , you’re probably wondering how you can pre-order the album. Unfortunately, Cabello hasn’t shared those details just yet, so fans can look out for it closer to its release date.

That’s all there is to know about Familia at this point! Fans can’t wait for Cabello to make her return!

Watch: Camila Cabello Talks Possibility of ‘Familia’ Tour

camila cabello familia tour dates

Camila Cabello ‘s third studio effort, ‘Familia,’ may have made itself cozy inside the Billboard 200’s top 10 the week of its premiere, but by the third week of its chart journey the album had already slid to #77.

In an effort to drive more attention to the set (which famously features the Ed Sheeran -assisted ‘Bam Bam’ and Willow Smith -assisted ‘Psychofreak’ ), Cabello recently indicated she has her eye on hitting the road in its support.

The jaunt, which would essentially replace the canceled ‘Romance’ tour that was axed in 2020 due to the global health crisis , gives her a chance to perform some of the hits found aboard that project as well.

Hop inside to hear what Camila said about bringing her brigade of bops to stages across America.

As previously reported , the GRAMMY nominee was among the bright stars who walked the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday ( May 2 ) for the Met Gala.

There, she not only discussed the inspiration behind her Atelier Prabal Gurung gown but also hinted that she may be gearing up to hit the road again.

“I would absolutely love to tour this album. I I love this album,” she exclaimed when askeda bout tour plans. “I don’t know [when], but I want it to happen.” googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('primis_TGJ_1x1_Desk'); if (pubwise.enabled === true) { pwpbjs.que.push(function () { pwRegisterLazyLoad(gptadslots['primis_TGJ_1x1_Desk'], 2, [250,0,250,0], 0, 768, 2); }); }else{ googletag.pubads().refresh([gptadslots['primis_TGJ_1x1_Desk']]); } });

She wants. It will not happen. No demand

Just look at her basic face and outfit. She looks like Lolita who sells her body on the streets

' src=

Camila was invited to the event by prabal gurung A designer invited her to the event to be his muse She didnt pay 50k dollars , neither did she pay for her dress. Everything was given to her FREE by prabal gurung the designer cause she was his muse for the night.

Normani on the other hand wasnt invited by any designer. She paid with her own money to attend. She paid for her own gown also. 😂😂😂😂💀 Did u notice the person that made normani gown didnt accompany her, cause she wasnt a muse, unlike Camila who was accompanied by prabal gurung himself

This ugly bìtch called normani trying to keep up appearances. Shes gonna go broke soon. Lol Her networth is a mere 3 million Lol

Where are the receipts?!

' src=

Honey are u dumb, I just explained how the met gala works

If ur invited, the designer dresses u and accompanies you. If u are not accompanied by a designer, u played for a ticket out of ur own pocket

Nobody knows normani She paid for that ticket herself The Christian siriano gown she wore, she paid for it herself. 😂💀

' src=

this is a lie. what a dumbass 😂

normani was styled and dressed by christian siriano.

she was his muse for the evening and was on the guest list you dumb btch 😂😂😂

she sat with the greats while camicky sat by the bathroom 🚽

camicky also had worst look for met gala 😂

try again loser lmaooo

' src=

The lies! @UHoesFunny you know that Normonkey was putting on another bathroom performance with her flat ass up in the air. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

' src=

If she couldn’t tour while “successful” she damn sure isn’t touring now. She doesn’t have a solid fanbase nor has she’s proven herself as a reputable performer. If she does tour it will be tiny venues or malls like in the 90’s. 😂

Her first tour the never be the same tour was SOLD OUT

Her second tour the romance tour was 80 percent sold out but she had to cancel due to c******

😂😂😂😂 U mad or nah?

Cancelled due to C**** 😂😂

Keep telling yourself lies. If it was successful, it would have been rescheduled like many others 😂😂😂😂😂

You’re embarrassing yourself.

' src=

Lmao what a pathetic liar. She cancelled it because no one bought tickets & lied after saying it was because of the pandemic 😂😂😂

You’re so full of lies. Just like when you said famila was a Spanish album because it flopped

F*cking embarrassing 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

' src=

She’s so delusional 😂😂😂

' src=

Lmaooooooooooo 🤣✅💯☕️

' src=

NEVERLAND!!!!

Just look at my girl personality. So alive and bubbly. U cant fake this shìt . It’s either u have IT or u dont 😂😂

Camila has personality for days and that’s why she is successful. Very relatable. Look at the way shes going back and forth with the reporter. this interview has brightened up my day.

Normani interviews are always dry. No humor, no personality, nothing. Just dull and boring. Anytime I watch normani’s interview I’m always falling asleep.

Lol keep telling yourself that 😂😂 No one likes that rat you Stan not even kids

“I have an album out”

Did u hear that? Too bad normani can never say these words

😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀 A serious artist who has a career. Normani what’s good?

Where is ur album? Excuses Essays Deflecting Blaming Crying

She is accompanied to the event by the designer who made her dress cause she is a muse and a guest of that designer. She was invited.

Normani dressed was designed by Christian siriano. He didnt accompany normani to the event Normani paid for a ticket to the event with her own money and she also paid for her dress herself. 😂😂💀

Shes trying hard to keep up appearances Gurl u gonna go broke real soon. Ur not a star, give it up. Being a celebrity is expensive. A ticket to the met gala is 50k dollars. Lol Normani ur music isnt selling, cause ur a flop. Ur gonna go broke real soon. That’s why u have to be a spokes person for cracker jack. Lol 😂💀

Camila Cabello Kickstarts Her New Era With a TikTok Concert Filled With Surreal Style

By Janelle Okwodu

Image may contain Clothing Apparel Human Person Door Sleeve and Camila Cabello

Who says you have to crowd into a stadium to hear your favorite musician play? Thanks to technology, the concert has experienced an overhaul. Case in point: Camila Cabello ’s latest endeavor, an immersive live experience on TikTok. Today’s Familia: Welcome to the Family event promises to take her fans on a tour of Cabello’s current realities—virtual and otherwise. At once a preview of her forthcoming album, Familia , and an overview of the star’s confident new style, the concert is her most ambitious project to date.

The technology behind the event is impressive. Created using extended reality XR tech, it allowed Cabello’s performance to be layered with digital environments to create a surreal feeling. “The way we did it with XR, the concert is part music video and part live show,” Cabello explains. “That meant we could be as creative and inventive as we wanted to be.” The step into an unexplored new world immediately made Cabello think of Lewis Caroll’s classic children’s books, but she didn’t want to draw inspiration solely from literature. “[The visuals] are a little bit like Alice in Wonderland , but it’s also just a snapshot of a vision inside my head telling the stories of the songs,” she says.

The team created multiple rooms to tell those tales, each dedicated to a specific hit. Stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn then matched the interior design of each space to a chic piece from the runways. “Each look was chosen according to the room,” says Cabello. “For example, “La Buena Vida” was very Spanish and mariachi inspired, so we chose a hot pink, tulle Carolina Herrera Bolero to create a modern take on Mexican style.” Likewise, the set dedicated to “Psycho Freak” sees the star transform into a Mugler bombshell thanks to a neon catsuit. The party segment kicks off with her wearing Saint Laurent’s burgundy latex cocktail attire.

Though the looks chosen offer a brief overview of trends from the latest collections, Cabello also wanted the pieces she wore to reflect her principles. “I love being able to express myself not only in my music but also in my style, and sustainability is incredibly important to me,” she says. Sourcing pieces from Dutch designer Roland van der Kemp’s RVDK Couture collection, an ethically crafted range made from archival fabrics and textile factory waste, she added an environmentally conscious element to her concert wardrobe. “The RVDK couture makes sustainability look glamorous and sexy,” says Cabello. “[Still] my favorite piece was the upcycled Project Trashure Couture dress made from a mix of textile trash and felt with ‘digital does street art’ spray-painted on it.”

Airing live on TikTok at 4 p.m. PST tonight, then rebroadcast three more times throughout the week, the concert is sure to become required viewing amongst the platform's 1 billion active users. Having that many eyes on a project ups the ante, but Cabello is most excited for her fans to see her kickstart a new era in music and fashion. “Every part of this process was a way to express my creativity,” she says. “I’m now in a place where I am excited to try new things while also figuring out how to be comfortable and put together in my everyday style. [In the concert] we cover every mood, and you’re going to feel that when you tune in on Thursday!”

How Camila Cabello Found Herself With 'Familia,' An Album That Ties Together Her Latin Roots And "An Unfiltered Me"

Nearly 10 years since her career began with a fateful audition on 'The X Factor,' Camila Cabello is feeling more comfortable than ever on her third album, 'Familia'

March 3 is always a big day for Camila Cabello , but this year was particularly special. Not only was she celebrating her 25th birthday, she also announced her third album, Familia — a project she called "my whole f***ing heart."

The day after, she teased the LP with a new Ed Sheeran collaboration, "Bam Bam." A lighthearted breakup song with (very specific) lyrics alluding to her recent split from Shawn Mendes , it was easy for fans to assume that Familia would be an album of heartbreak. But upon the album's arrival on April 8, they quickly realized that couldn't be further from the truth.

Sure, there's a few songs touching on that particular split (especially the final track, "everyone at this party"), but for the most part, Familia is a celebration of life — and, most of all, an homage to Cabello's Latina roots.

More than half of the album has Cabello singing in Spanish, and its lyrical themes vary from fiery romance ("Quiet") to crippling anxiety ("psychofreak," a collab with WILLOW). Whatever the topic or sound, each song on Familia is a representation of the fact that Cabello is feeling better than ever.

"I just feel like myself," she tells GRAMMY.com. "[This album process] was a lot more grounded, and I feel like you can hear that in the music — it really is an unfiltered me."

Ahead of Familia 's release, Cabello sat down with GRAMMY.com to share how the album helped her find inner peace, how she's grown over the last 10 years, and why the Familia process was the most genuine yet.

You told  Zane Lowe that this album was "a tool for me becoming a more well-rounded person." What is it about this music that makes you feel that way?

I think [on] my previous albums, my focus was, "How can I make a great album?" Obviously, I was honest and tried to get to the root of me, and what felt true to me, but there was also a lot of pressure. A lot of what I felt was pressure and anxiety — and not just in the studio. I was just anxious in general, and was having a tough time mentally.

It's like this album was a tool for me feeling better, and for creating real, genuine friendships and connections with my collaborators. It's about being vulnerable.

What felt different about this album compared to your previous releases?

In my previous albums, I felt like I had something to prove. I felt like I wanted to prove that I was a good songwriter, I wanted to prove that I had good ideas. So in the room with other songwriters and producers that I respected, I felt like I just wanted to show them that I was good.

I didn't feel any of that this time around. I was just like, "I don't really care. I'm just going to be myself. I'm going to make choices melodically, lyrically, that feel interesting to me." It was a lot more grounded, and I feel like you can hear that in the music — it really is an unfiltered me. There's no walls of any of that other, like, ego stuff up. So that's why it was the most fun experience, and what I think is my best work so far.

This is the first time you've collaborated with Scott Harris , one of Shawn Mendes' closest collaborators. What do you feel like he brought to your creative process?

I remember voice-memoing him in my house in Miami, he was about to come over and we were gonna just write in my bedroom. We wrote "Quiet" and "Boys Don't Cry" in the first two days [when] it was just me and him.

I told him exactly what I just told you. I was like, "I feel like, in the studio, sometimes I get anxious. I want to prove that I'm good. And I just want to be open and honest." I would journal every day, I would read them out to him, we would talk about it, and then we would write. So it started off with that intention.

Was there a certain song or a session you had for this album — or even something that wasn't even album related — that felt like a turning point for you in getting to a place where you can be that vulnerable?

I think that vulnerability really cemented, and I feel like I really matured as a writer, the day that I made a "psychofreak" with Ricky [Reed] and Scott. [Ricky] had this track — I started doing this thing after working with this artist Remi Wolf, where I would freestyle and word vomit, stream of consciousness into a mic. We weren't even like, "What are we going to write about today? I have this idea for a song." It was just like, "Cool, I love that. Let me see what comes out."

[With] "psychofreak," I felt really, really vulnerable. I felt really icky talking about those things, because they were real anxieties that I had about intimacy, and literally what I was talking through in therapy at that time. To say that, and then leave from the booth and go back into the room, and for my collaborators to be like, "Yeah, this line was really good, talk to us about that" was really hard. It was really hard, and felt embarrassing, and vulnerable.

It was a few days after that I was like, "Oh wow, I just made one of my favorite songs, if not my favorite song ever." That's when I feel like that trust between me and my collaborators was cemented, like I could say anything. And it's really f***ing scary, but it feels good to get that out. It also results in, what I feel, is really good writing. That song was a big turning point.

You feature a variety of artists on Familia , from Ed Sheeran to Maria Becerra to WILLOW. How did you determine the right collaborators for this project?

I mean, I've had the same vision for my collaborators. I was just like, I want to work with other artists, and I don't want it to be like, you know, them over there and they send the files — obviously, sometimes it has to be that way because of schedules and whatever. But for example, Willow came over for "psychofreak" and [we ordered] some delicious vegan food, it was nighttime, we had some shots. It was me, Ricky, her and her friend in my house.

I just was like, I want to connect, I want to hang. I want it to be fun, and fun for everybody. I want it to feel genuine. With Ed, same thing — we're genuinely friends. And Yotuel , he is somebody that my family loves so much, and he is so important to the Cuban community. It didn't feel transactional. It felt very real.

This year marks both the 10 year anniversary of when Fifth Harmony formed, and five years since you officially launched your solo career with "Crying in the Club." When you think back to the Camilla who auditioned for The X Factor 10 years ago, and maybe even the Camila who you were upon going solo, how do you feel like you've grown professionally?

The girl that auditioned for X Factor is actually really similar, in a lot of ways, to who I am now. There was just this passion, vulnerability and excitement that I feel like I kind of regained — and I sometimes lost in the middle.

Writing-wise, so many different influences came together for this album — Sally Rooney, SZA — in my writing style, in my melodic style, and my lyrical style. I feel like I really have come back to what kind of turns me on about my craft, and about songwriting and making music.

How do you feel you've grown personally?

I feel like there was a lot of hard-earned wisdom. I don't have a lot of wisdom, because I'm 25, and I have a lot to learn. Something kind of stupid and silly is, I feel like things that used to make me really nervous don't anymore. And that feels really great. Like [previously] before I would do a performance, I would literally be like, almost fully blacking out [from nerves]. Now I can actually enjoy myself, which is less exhausting.

This album brings in the most Latin influence yet. I figured that probably plays into you feeling so good about this album, but it probably also comes from you being at the place you're at, and feeling so like yourself.

Definitely. I think it's all about finding my way. Honestly, I feel like I kind of lost my way a little bit in the middle of those 10 years.

This [album] has been finding my way back. A big part of that is my roots, and my heritage. I want to spend the most time in Latin America and in Mexico because it just makes me feel like myself. I just feel like myself.

25 Years Of Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way": 10 Covers By Ed Sheeran, Lil Uzi Vert & More

To commemorate the anniversary of Backstreet Boys' biggest hit, take a look at 10 clever ways it's been covered and sampled — from Ed Sheeran's karaoke bit to a Weird Al special.

When the Backstreet Boys released "I Want It That Way" on April 12, 1999, they likely had no idea how beloved their smash hit would still be a quarter-century later.

Written by the Swedish powerhouse team of Andreas Carlsson and Max Martin , "I Want It That Way" is undoubtedly BSB's signature hit, particularly thanks to its memorable undulating melody and its long-debated cryptic meaning. But perhaps the most surprising part of the song's legacy is how it has resonated across genres — from a TikTok cover by Korn to a hip-hop sampling by Lil Uzi Vert .

As the Backstreet Boys celebrate the 25th anniversary of "I Want It That Way," take a look at how the song has been diversely covered, lovingly lampooned and karaoke jammed by an array of voices in the business.

Weird Al Yankovic (2003)

When the king of parody songs selects one to skewer, you know it's an iconic song. Weird Al Yankovic paid tribute to the largeness of the Backstreet Boys classic when he used "I Want It That Way" as the basis of a song called "eBay" in 2003.

Yankovic's chorus replaces the original's with, "A used pink bathrobe/ A rare mint snow globe/ A Smurf TV tray/ I bought on eBay." The Backstreet Boys send up appears on Yankovic's album Poodle Hat , which won Best Comedy Album at the 2004 GRAMMYs.

One Direction (2013)

Three years One Direction formed on "The X Factor," the five lads — Harry Styles , Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson — included a cover of "I Want It That Way" on their 2013 concert set lists, the young boy band paying homage to the ones that came before them. Though their English accents poked through at times, their version was loyal to the original, and got their crowds singing along.

"Glee" (2013)

Poking fun at the presumed rivalry between *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, a medley of the former's "Bye Bye Bye" and "I Want It That Way" was featured in Season 4, Episode 16 of "Glee." In the episode — aptly titled "Feud" — choir director Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and glee club heartthrob Finn (Cory Monteith) face off in an epic boy band battle, which ultimately proved the groups' respective music was more cohesive than divisive.

Brittany Howard and Jim James (2016)

The lead singers of Alabama Shakes and My Morning Jacket covering a boy band classic. It doesn't sound real, but Brittany Howard and Jim James did just that in 2016 when they recorded "I Want It That Way" for an animated short cartoon called "A Love Story."

Released by the fast food chain Chipotle Mexican Grill, the clip was part of a creative campaign to showcase the company's focus on natural ingredients. Howard and James highlight the poignancy and versatility of the song by adding lush string arrangements and dramatic beats.

Backstreet Boys x Jimmy Fallon and The Roots (2018)

The 2018 live performance of "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots for "The Tonight Show" is arguably the sweetest rendition of the song — and not just because they're using a mini xylophone, baby tambourine and other toy classroom instruments. It's even more endearing than the previous collaborations between Fallon and Backstreet Boys: a barbershop singing version of Sisqo's "Thong Song" and a "Bawkstreet Boys" version of "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)," with everyone dressed like fluffy birds.

The 1975 (2020)

British rockers The 1975 performed a fairly faithful cover of "I Want It That Way," hitting all the high notes at several of their 2023 world concert tour stops. But it's not the first time frontman Matty Healy has hinted at the Backstreet Boys' influence on his band: he told Pitchfork in 2020 that " College Dropout -era Kanye West meets Backstreet Boys" was part of their veritable moodboard at the time when working on their own song called "Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy)."

Lil Uzi Vert (2020)

In 2020, Lil Uzi Vert released a rap song called "That Way" that includes a refrain of "I want it that way" sung to the tune of the Backstreet original, but with an AutoTune twist. From there, the lyrics become quite a bit naughtier than anything the BSB guys have uttered in any song.

"I don't know how [the idea of] Backstreet Boys got involved in this song, I really don't," the song's producer Supah Mario told Splice at the time. "I think it was all Uzi. But it was a game changer."

The interpolation was so good, in fact, that Nick Carter even invited Lil Uzi Vert to collaborate: "Now you're gonna have to be featured on our next album bud," he tweeted upon the song's release.

Korn (2022)

Fans of Korn know that the nu metal band has a sense of humor, but few could've expected that Jonathan Davis and crew would post a TikTok of themselves singing "I Want It That Way" in 2022.

"I never wanna hear you say… 'Worst Is On Its Way,'" reads the caption on the post, a tongue-in-cheek reference to Korn's 2022 song of the same name.

Backstreet Boys responded on the app via a hilarious Duet video with Nick Carter. In the video, Carter — who sports fabulous metal eye makeup and a long silver wig — doesn't actually say or sing anything, he just drops his jaw in amazement.

Backstreet Boys x Downy (2022)

Downy hired the Backstreet Boys to poke fun at "I Want It That Way" with the now-viral "Tell Me Why" commercial in 2022. All five members — Nick Carter, Howie Dorough , Brian Littrell , AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson — appear as a Backstreet Boys poster on the wall that comes to life, using the "tell me why" hook of their hit to engage a woman doing laundry in a conversation about washing her clothes.

As Saatchi group account director Jen Brotman told Muse at the time, the nostalgic ad also spawned some memories for the folks working on the ad campaign.

"The moment [BSB] stood in front of the camera, they rehearsed 'I Want It That Way' just to get the notes right, and we felt like we were getting serenaded on set," Brotman recalled. "We couldn't believe how emotional we all got — there may or may not have been tears in some eyes. The song has always been a karaoke favorite of the team, so we knew which 'tell me whys' we wanted them to hit, and we still can't get it out of our heads."

Ed Sheeran (2023)

When he fancies singing a bit of karaoke, Ed Sheeran loves leaning on "I Want It That Way," as the star showed at his favorite Nashville bar in July 2023. A patron caught him on camera and his happiness level is undeniable when belting out this enduring pop classic.

As Sheeran told CBS News a few months later, he grew up on the pop hits of everyone from Backstreet Boys to Britney Spears . But what he said about "I Want It That Way" specifically may be the best way to describe its long-lasting impact: "You can't be in a bar, a couple of beers in, and 'I Want It That Way' comes on and not be like, 'This is a good song.' You can't."

17 Love Songs That Have Won GRAMMYs: "I Will Always Love You," "Drunk In Love" & More

Over the GRAMMYs' 66-year history, artists from Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran have taken home golden gramophones for their heartfelt tunes. Take a look at some of the love songs that have won GRAMMYs.

Editor's Note: This is an update to a story from 2017.

Without heart-bursting, world-shifting love songs, music wouldn't be the same. There are countless classic and chart-topping hits dedicated to love, and several of them have won GRAMMYs.

We're not looking at tunes that merely deal with shades of love or dwell in heartbreak. We're talking out-and-out, no-holds-barred musical expressions of affection — the kind of love that leaves you wobbly at the knees.

No matter how you're celebrating Valentine's Day (or not), take a look at 18 odes to that feel-good, mushy-gushy love that have taken home golden gramophones over the years.

Frank Sinatra , "Strangers In The Night"

Record Of The Year / Best Vocal Performance, Male, 1967

Ol' Blue Eyes offers but a glimmer of hope for the single crowd on Valentine's Day, gently ruminating about exchanging glances with a stranger and sharing love before the night is through.

Willie Nelson , "Always On My Mind"

Best Country Vocal Performance, Male, 1983

In this cover, Nelson sings to the woman in his life, lamenting over those small things he should have said and done, but never took the time. Don't find yourself in the same position this Valentine's Day.

Lionel Richie , "Truly"

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, 1983

"Truly" embodies true dedication to a loved one, and it's delivered with sincerity from the king of '80s romantic pop — who gave life to the timeless love-song classics "Endless Love," "Still" and "Three Times A Lady."

Roy Orbison , "Oh, Pretty Woman"

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, 1991

Orbison captures the essence of encountering a lovely woman for the first time, and offers helpful one-liners such as "No one could look as good as you" and "I couldn't help but see … you look as lovely as can be." Single men, take notes.

Whitney Houston , "I Will Always Love You"

Record Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female, 1994

Houston passionately delivers a message of love, remembrance and forgiveness on her version of this song, which was written by country sweetheart Dolly Parton and first nominated for a GRAMMY in 1982.

Celine Dion , "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme From Titanic)"

Record Of The Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, 1999

This omnipresent theme song from the 1997 film Titanic was propelled to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as the story of Jack and Rose (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and GRAMMY winner Kate Winslet) swept the country.

Shania Twain , "You're Still The One"

Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Song, 1999

Co-written with producer and then-husband Mutt Lange, Twain speaks of beating the odds with love and perseverance in lyrics such as, "I'm so glad we made it/Look how far we've come my baby," offering a fresh coat of optimism for couples of all ages.

Usher & Alicia Keys , "My Boo"

Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, 2005

"There's always that one person that will always have your heart," sings Usher in this duet with Keys, taking the listener back to that special first love. The chemistry between the longtime friends makes this ode to “My Boo” even more heartfelt, and the love was still palpable even 20 years later when they performed it on the Super Bowl halftime show stage.

Bruno Mars , "Just The Way You Are"

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, 2011

Dating advice from Bruno Mars: If you think someone is beautiful, you should tell them every day. Whether or not it got Mars a date for Valentine's Day, it did get him a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cee Lo Green & Melanie Fiona , "Fool For You"

Best Traditional R&B Performance, 2012

It's a far cry from his previous GRAMMY-winning song, "F*** You," but "Fool For You" had us yearning for "that deep, that burning/ That amazing unconditional, inseparable love."

Justin Timberlake , "Pusher Love Girl"

Best R&B Song, 2014

Timberlake is so high on the love drug he's "on the ceiling, baby." Timberlake co-wrote the track with James Fauntleroy, Jerome Harmon and Timbaland, and it's featured on his 2013 album The 20/20 Experience , which flew high to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z , "Drunk In Love"

Best R&B Performance / Best R&B Song, 2015

While "Drunk In Love" wasn't the first love song that won Beyoncé and Jay-Z a GRAMMY — they won two GRAMMYs for "Crazy In Love" in 2004 — it is certainly the sexiest. This quintessential 2010s bop from one of music's most formidable couples captures why their alliance set the world's hearts aflame (and so did their steamy GRAMMYs performance of it).

Ed Sheeran , "Thinking Out Loud"

Song Of The Year / Best Pop Solo Performance, 2016

Along with his abundant talent, Sheeran's boy-next-door charm is what rocketed him to the top of the pop ranks. And with swooning lyrics and a waltzing melody, "Thinking Out Loud" is proof that he's a modern-day monarch of the love song.

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper , "Shallow"

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance / Best Song Written For Visual Media, 2019

A Star is Born 's cachet has gone up and down with its various remakes, but the 2018 iteration was a smash hit. Not only is that thanks to moving performances from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, but particularly thanks to their impassioned, belt-along duet "Shallow."

H.E.R. & Daniel Caesar , "Best Part"

Best R&B Performance, 2019

"If life is a movie/ Know you're the best part." Who among us besotted hasn't felt their emotions so widescreen, so thunderous? Clearly, H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar have — and they poured that feeling into the GRAMMY-winning ballad "Best Part."

Kacey Musgraves , "Butterflies"

Best Country Solo Performance, 2019

As Musgraves' Album Of The Year-winning LP Golden Hour shows, the country-pop star can zoom in or out at will, capturing numberless truths about the human experience. With its starry-eyed lyrics and swirling production, "Butterflies" perfectly encapsulates the flutter in your stomach that love can often spark.

Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber , "10,000 Hours"

Best Country Duo/Group Performance, 2021

When country hook-meisters Dan + Shay teamed up with pop phenom Justin Bieber, their love song powers were unstoppable. With more than 1 billion Spotify streams alone, "10,000 Hours" has become far more than an ode to just their respective wives; it's an anthem for any lover.

2023 In Review: 5 Trends That Defined Pop Music

From massive world stages to hilarious TikTok trends, pop music was all about the fun in 2023 — which led to huge hits and pop culture moments alike.

There's arguably only one way to sum up pop music in 2023: it belonged to the women.

Whether SZA or Olivia Rodrigo were revealing the cracks in their relationships through catchy hooks, or Taylor Swift was taking over stadiums around the globe, female artists dominated genre charts and trends. And even a fictional female figure helped spawn some of the year's biggest pop tracks.

It was also a big year for legends and classic hits; pop mainstays showed just why they became superstars in the first place, and TikTok helped resurface some pop songs of old.

Below, take a deeper dive into some of 2023's biggest moments in pop.

Ex-Lovers Were Called Out

Nothing burns more than a woman scorned. This year, pop stars and rising artists were both shameless in calling out their exes for their wrongdoings.

One of the biggest moments came courtesy of SZA. The artist is known for wearing her heart on her sleeve, and SOS album highlight "Kill Bill" was a buffet of toxic "what if" scenarios. The singer let jealousy overcome her emotions as she couldn't stand to see her ex-lover move on: "I might kill my ex, I still love him though/ Rather be in jail than alone." On a similar note, Olivia Rodrigo's "vampire" finds the pop star tapping into a new level of fury. The lead single from her sophomore album, GUTS , "vampire" shoots bloody daggers at a manipulative boyfriend.

But it wasn't all about vengeance. In Miley Cyrus ' case, her best form of revenge came in the form of forgiveness. Her "Flowers" anthem was thought to be inspired by Cyrus' divorce from Liam Hemsworth, but its messaging is relatable to anyone who had to learn how to move on from a broken heart. "I can take myself dancing and I can hold my own hand/ I can love me better than you can," Cyrus assures.

All three singles topped the Billboard Hot 100 this year, marking SZA's first solo No. 1, Cyrus' first in a decade and Rodrigo's first from her new album era. The singles also all earned 2024 GRAMMY nominations for both Song Of The Year (alongside Billie Eilish 's "What Was I Made For?", Dua Lipa 's "Dance the Night", Jon Batiste 's "Butterfly", Lana Del Rey 's "A&W" and Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero") and Record Of The Year (next to Billie Eilish's What Was I Made For?", Boygenius' "Not Strong Enough", Jon Batiste's "Worship", Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and Victoria Monét' s "On My Mama").

Rising stars also joined in on the fun. After Tate McRae scored her biggest hit to date with the playful “greedy,” she delivered a fiery kiss-off anthem with “exes.” Elsewhere, Benee called her ex a "waste of f—king time" on the rowdy "Green Honda," British singer Mae Stephens contemplated all of her options on "If We Ever Broke Up," RAYE brooded over "dumb decisions" and booze on "Escapism," and Los Angeles alt-pop singer Leah Kate 's jam-packed her debut album Super Over with advice on cutting off toxic relationships .

Classic Songs Made A TikTok Resurgence

TikTok has proved its social media dominance over the past few years. But aside from pop's new generation enjoying viral success, the genre's OGs also found their classic hits reborn.

Colbie Caillat 's "Bubbly" single warmed our hearts when it debuted in 2007, and in true Gen Z fashion, it reemerged thanks to a meme trend. TikTok users placed the song over high-energy performance videos like those of Travis Scott , Justin Bieber and Tyler, The Creator which made for a hilarious juxtaposition. Caillat kept the momentum by making TikTok duets and even sharing an acoustic version of the song on her YouTube page.

Bridgit Mendler's 2013 single "Hurricane" also got a second wind for its 10th anniversary where female users placed it over humorous self-deprecating videos about being delusional over men. Jessie J 's 2011 "Price Tag" hit sparked a dance trend with a sped-up version of the song and Lana Del Rey's "Radio" (a deep cut from 2012's Born To Die debut) inspired users to make videos that showcased how "sweet like cinnamon" their lives are.

Career-Spanning Tours Took Over The World

What better way to celebrate a decorated career than with a massive tour? Pop stars from all corners of the genre commemorated their many years (or in some cases, decades) in the music industry by going down memory lane with their fans worldwide.

The most notable trek was, of course, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour , which kicked off on March 17 and will conclude on Dec. 8, 2024. The pop star — who is arguably bigger than she's ever been, nearly 20 years into her career — used the stadium tour to pay homage to her extensive discography with a nonstop three-hour spectacle. Swift's impact quickly made history: the Eras Tour surpassed $1 billion in revenue in early December, already making it the highest-grossing music tour of all time, according to Guinness World Records. Its accompanying concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , also became the highest-grossing concert film of all time with $250 million earned globally as of press time.

But Swift wasn't the only star celebrating their music milestones on the road. After a thrilling reunion in 2019, the Jonas Brothers continued to shock fans with what's possibly the most challenging tour of their career. Titled "Five Albums. One Night. The World Tour," the trio featured their entire discography in a set list that included over 60 songs.

Another artist who rode the ambitious train was Madonna . The pop icon's Celebration Tour was, well, a celebration of a genre-defining career spanning over four decades. Kicking off in October in London, the tour features a retrospective setlist that is a treat for diehard fans, featuring singles she hasn't performed live in decades including 1990's "Justify My Love," 1998's "Nothing Really Matters" and 2002's "Die Another Day."

On the pop-rock end, The Maine's "Sweet Sixteen Tour" highlighted the band's growth over the past 16 years through nine albums, while Boys Like Girls ' anchored their comeback after an 11-year hiatus with the North American Speaking Our Language Tour.

Movies Had Major Music Moments

While music has long been a driving force in films, this year saw the pairing excitedly take over pop culture. Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie notably had the world seeing pink, with the iconic doll infiltrating everything from fashion to real estate.

Not surprisingly, the accompanying soundtrack was a pop-filled joyride. Featuring production from pop mastermind Mark Ronson, the 17-song Barbie: The Album featured the likes of Lizzo , Charli XCX , PinkPantheress , Sam Smith , GAYLE and FIFTY FIFTY. But perhaps most notably, the album dominated the Best Song Written For Visual Media category at the 2024 GRAMMYs: Dua Lipa's disco-laced "Dance The Night," Ryan Gosling's TikTok-trending "I'm Just Ken," Ice Spice 's and Nicki Minaj 's sparkly collaboration "Barbie World," and Billie Eilish's gripping ballad "What Was I Made For?" compete with Rihanna 's Black Panther hit "Lift Me Up."

The year also called for reunions and revivals, with the biggest shock arguably belonging to NSYNC . Many fans were impatiently waiting for the boys to make a return, and they did so with "Better Place." The Trolls soundtrack highlight marked the boy band's first song after a two-decade-long music hiatus (which was accompanied by an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where they presented with Best Pop Video). Under the sea, Halle Bailey refreshed a Disney classic with The Little Mermaid live-action reimagining, while the nostalgia train continued with movie musicals Wonka and Mean Girls (out in January).

Pop Titans Were Inescapable

Thanks to social media, it may seem like Gen Z artists have overthrown their elder pop counterparts. But make no mistake, the veterans are showing they aren't so easily shakeable.

This year, many preserved their legacies through various mediums. Taylor Swift wasn't the only superstar proving her staying power on the road (and in stadiums); Beyoncé 's Renaissance World Tour cemented her legendary status as the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist, while Ed Sheeran 's The Mathematics Tour broke attendance records worldwide.

Adele and Usher ruled Sin City with their Las Vegas residencies, with the latter set to perform at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show. The pop titans even showed their dominance on television, with Kelly Clarkson (who also had a Vegas stint) and Jennifer Hudson gaining a new audience with their respective talk shows.

After a year filled with viral moments and comebacks, we're eager to see how artists will continue to uplift pop music in 2024.

GRAMMY Rewind: Kendrick Lamar Honors Hip-Hop's Greats While Accepting Best Rap Album GRAMMY For 'To Pimp a Butterfly' In 2016

Upon winning the GRAMMY for Best Rap Album for 'To Pimp a Butterfly,' Kendrick Lamar thanked those that helped him get to the stage, and the artists that blazed the trail for him.

Updated Friday Oct. 13, 2023 to include info about Kendrick Lamar's most recent GRAMMY wins, as of the 2023 GRAMMYs.

A GRAMMY veteran these days, Kendrick Lamar has won 17 GRAMMYs and has received 47 GRAMMY nominations overall. A sizable chunk of his trophies came from the 58th annual GRAMMY Awards in 2016, when he walked away with five — including his first-ever win in the Best Rap Album category.

This installment of GRAMMY Rewind turns back the clock to 2016, revisiting Lamar's acceptance speech upon winning Best Rap Album for To Pimp A Butterfly . Though Lamar was alone on stage, he made it clear that he wouldn't be at the top of his game without the help of a broad support system.

"First off, all glory to God, that's for sure," he said, kicking off a speech that went on to thank his parents, who he described as his "those who gave me the responsibility of knowing, of accepting the good with the bad."

Looking for more GRAMMYs news? The 2024 GRAMMY nominations are here!

He also extended his love and gratitude to his fiancée, Whitney Alford, and shouted out his Top Dawg Entertainment labelmates. Lamar specifically praised Top Dawg's CEO, Anthony Tiffith, for finding and developing raw talent that might not otherwise get the chance to pursue their musical dreams.

"We'd never forget that: Taking these kids out of the projects, out of Compton, and putting them right here on this stage, to be the best that they can be," Lamar — a Compton native himself — continued, leading into an impassioned conclusion spotlighting some of the cornerstone rap albums that came before To Pimp a Butterfly .

"Hip-hop. Ice Cube . This is for hip-hop," he said. "This is for Snoop Dogg , Doggystyle . This is for Illmatic , this is for Nas . We will live forever. Believe that."

To Pimp a Butterfly singles "Alright" and "These Walls" earned Lamar three more GRAMMYs that night, the former winning Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song and the latter taking Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (the song features Bilal , Anna Wise and Thundercat ). He also won Best Music Video for the remix of Taylor Swift 's "Bad Blood."

Lamar has since won Best Rap Album two more times, taking home the golden gramophone in 2018 for his blockbuster LP DAMN ., and in 2023 for his bold fifth album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers .

Camila Cabello is definitely a concert to see. I am a concertaholic so I get around to my fare share of concerts and this was by far one of the best shows I have seen. Her vocals as good as you would hear on her album, she entertains the entire time and seems to be one of the most genuine, kind artists out there. Weather she is dancing or standing Camila and do anything and still sound like an angel. This concert had the best entertainment I had ever seen, before this concert Why Don't We had this title for there choreographed dancing but Camilla came in and stole the show with her 6 dancers that could dance circles around anyone. Not only did Camilla talk to the front of the crowd but she acknowledged the very back of the crowd and gave a beautiful speech about how no matter what your going through you have to push through and know you will make it!

The best night eveeeeeeer!!!!!. I had such a great time, she is super cute and beautiful the way she spoke to the public woow and she talked to us in spanish, I love when she speaks in spanish. And before sing one song she introduced to us talking to lil bit what does "x" song means to her and I really loved that, she spoke a lot with us I loved so much that too.

She's super kind and sweet the graphics on the screens before every song was amazing !!! and she brought guest artists to sing with her in spanish, she was magical, that night, all that magic was in Mexico City.

She gives all in every song, the way she dances all, was perfect !!!! And when she brought her dad to stage to sing with the mariachis was super cool, simply unforgettable, so special.

Amazing!!! She is a great artist. But the arena could have made it more organised. Their entry system should start earlier instead of the last minute. Many people that were not priority for O2 got in first due to the lack of control from the security and coordination team. Including gett8ng 2 lines, one for priority and one for normal entry. Claiming to have verified since morning but then, the first ones from the normal l8ne were discovered to be priority and placed in the wrong line since 10am till 7pm.

Hopefully we see eachother the next time on a europe tour

Camila Cabello was the surprise guest artist for Lana Del Rey ‘s headlining Coachella set on Friday night.

Del Rey temporarily left the stage after singing her song “Bartender” as Cabello launched into a surprise performance of her new single “I Luv It” from her forthcoming fourth studio album. Lana joined Cabello through some verses but mostly watched and danced from the balcony of her palace-like stage.

Popular on Variety

Cabello responded, “This is an honor for me, you’re one of my favorite artists of all time. I love you so much.”

Del Rey’s week one Coachella performance welcomed recent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Jon Batiste, who again joined Del Rey again on Friday night. Both Antonoff and Batiste are also performing their own sets (Antonoff as the lead singer of the band Bleachers) at the festival. Billie Eilish also joined Del Rey who turned up for a surprise pair of duets of Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes,” and Del Rey’s “Video Games.”

Camila Cabello Says Lana Del Rey Is 'Disarmingly Sweet' After Joining Her for 'I Luv It' at Coachella 2024

The pair delivered the debut performance of Cabello's new single "I Luv It" during Del Rey's headlining set at the music festival on April 19

Camila Cabello is honored to have Lana Del Rey 's support.

During Del Rey's headlining set at the second weekend of Coachella 2024 on April 19, the alt-pop superstar surprised the crowd by bringing out Cabello to deliver the debut live performance of her latest single, "I Luv It."

The moment came midway through Del Rey's time on stage, after she performed "Born to Die," as she introduced Cabello to the crowd. Sporting her new signature blonde hair, the Fifth Harmony alum entered the stage with dancers and performed the electropop track, which features Playboi Carti.

Amy Sussman/WireImage

"This is my girl. I have so much fun with her. I love this song to death. Thank you so much angel for coming to sing with me," said Del Rey to Cabello on stage.

After the performance, the "Havana" singer posted to Instagram and shared a photo of the pair as well as footage from Coachella alongside a heartfelt caption.

"not only is @honeymoon a once in a lifetime artist," began Cabello, before referencing Billie Eilish 's kind words for Del Rey after joining her during the first weekend of Coachella earlier this month, "billie said it best, she’s the reason for all you bitches existence including me !!!!"

Emma McIntyre/Getty Images

"she’s inspired so many artists visually lyrically musically and moved the art form forward but I think you all should know that sometimes it’s good to meet your heroes," she added, "because she is also disarmingly sweet and generous and loving also how is she so god damn pretty holy f---."

"i don’t really know who i would be without female artists like her who show me what’s possible," continued Cabello, noting that Del Rey's taught her "how to be free," "how to be hard and soft at the same time" and "how to make your life a work of art."

"thank you for including us in your moment last night," concluded the note. "i am at your service forever my girl."

At the first weekend of Coachella 2024, Del Rey surprised the crowd with an appearance from Eilish to perform duet versions of "Video Games" and "Ocean Eyes." Following the set, the "Blue Jeans" singer reflected on the show in an Instagram caption — and called out her former tour manager, claiming he quit about a month before the festival.

"Thank you guys. For f---ing everything," Del Rey wrote. "Jack and John and Billie for showing up for me -and the band for just killing it and spending months in Sylmar in a 40° warehouse to the point but it was so cold that I caught laryngitis that literally left just a few hours before I hit the stage because Tessa DiPietro spent two hours lifting that cough remotely through her body intuitive skills just minutes before showtime, Wally Crowder for my bad as bikes. Every stunning dancer on stage- and Alex for her beautiful choreography. My stunning three singers who danced and sang their asses off in style and high matching boots. Judah + Chelsea 😇."

Matthew Baker/Getty

She then thanked "Emily" — referring to Emily Holt — for taking over tour manager duties after "Pete quit for no reason after 15 years," appearing to shade former tour manager Peter Abbott.

Del Rey alleged "he was butt hurt that I got 10 comped bikes for free from Wally" and "decided he was more of a stage designer than a tour manager."

"Never got a phone call probably never will. Still grateful for the 15 years though," she added. "No worries – 37 days was more than enough time to put together an entire headlining set all by ourselves. Not stressful at all. Way to go Emily you f---ing killed it with grace."

Cabello replied, ”This is an honor me, you’re one of my favorite artists of all time. Thank you so much.”

On X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Cabello recapped her feelings about sharing the stage with Del Rey the night before, writing over a few posts , “not only is Lana Del Rey a once in a lifetime artist billie said it best, she’s the reason for all you b—-es existence including me !!!!”

“she’s inspired so many artists visually lyrically musically and moved the art form forward,” said Cabello. “i don’t really know who i would be without female artists like her who show me what’s possible. how to be free. how to be hard and soft at the same time. how to make your life a work of art. thank you for including us in your moment last night. i am at your service forever my girl.”

In late March, prior to the release of “I Luv It,” Del Rey showed some love for the energetic single on social media. “i luv it,” the singer-songwriter captioned black-and-white photos of the “Senorita” singer on Instagram. Cabello took to the comments section of the post, leaving a series of crown emojis.

Del Rey’s weekend two performance at Coachella follows her guest-filled set at the popular music fest’s opening day on April 12. During the performance, she welcomed Jon Batiste for “Candy Necklace,” Jack Antonoff for “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing,” and duetted with Billie Eilish on “Ocean Eyes” and “Video Games.”

Lana Del Rey joined by Camila Cabello during week two of Coachella 2024

Camila Cabello made a surprise appearance during Lana Del Rey’s headline slot at Coachella Festival on Friday (19 April).

The “Video Games” star, real name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, was performing at the second weekend of the annual performing arts event, which takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Cabello, who rose to fame with the pop band Fifth Harmony before leaving the group to pursue a solo career, joined Del Rey for a rendition of her new single “I Luv It” featuring rapper Playboi Carti .

She wore a white glittery T-shirt with the words “Pepsi cola” emblazoned across it (in reference to Dey Rey’s song “Cola”), boot-cut blue jeans and a sparkly choker, as she told the audience to “make some motherf***ing noise if you love Lana Del Rey ”.

Del Rey thanked Cabello for performing with her and said: “This is my girl, I have so much fun with her. I love this song to death, thank you so much angel for coming and singing with me.”

Cabello responded: “This is an honour for me, you’re one of my artists of all time, I love you so much.”

The surprise comes after Del Rey welcomed pop star Billie Eilish onto her stage during week one of the festival, for a performance of her 2016 hit “Ocean Eyes”. They then duetted on Del Rey’s 2012 song “Video Games”.

The Grammy-nominated artist was scheduled to appear at the 2020 edition of Coachella , until it was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

Last year, she performed slots at Glastonbury Festival and BST Hyde Park festival, both of which made headlines after Del Rey turned up late for her sets .

Earlier this week, the singer hit out at her longtime tour manager, accusing him of quitting “for no reason” just weeks before Coachella.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, she thanked Eilish, composer Jon Batiste and singer/producer Jack Antonoff for “showing up for me”.

She then thanked “Emily for stepping up as tour manager when Pete quit for no reason after 15 years because he was butt hurt that I got 10 comped bikes for free from [stunt coordinator] Wally [Crowder] and randomly decided he was more of a stage designer than a tour manager”.

“Still grateful for the 15 years though,” she added.

Music + concerts, music + concerts | coachella 2024: lana del rey adds camila cabello to weekend 2 set.

camila cabello familia tour dates

Defying rumors that she’d bring out Taylor Swift as her special guest for the Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival , headliner Lana Del Rey brought out singer-songwriter Camila Cabello instead.

Cabello performed her song “I Luv It” while Del Rey occasionally chimed in on the vocals, adding a lively song to the otherwise mostly relaxed set.

At the end of Cabello’s performance, Del Rey nodded to the song and the singer, changing the lyrics to “I love you, I love you, I love” as she sang to Cabello.

The two are clearly close: In a March 22 Instagram post, Del Rey posted pictures of Cabello with the caption “i luv it,” perhaps clueing us all in to the performance.

Of course, some were disappointed that Del Rey didn’t bring out Taylor Swift, after theories circulated online that it could happen.

As she had during her Weekend 1 performance , Del Rey also brought out singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jon Batiste for a performance of “Candy Necklace” and musician and producer Jack Antonoff, who played piano while Del Rey sang “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have.”
