The 1990s had a lot of great things: the beginning of Friends , unbelievably stylish ensembles, and the birth of iconic “It” couple Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. They were everywhere, and everyone wanted to know every detail about the shocking couple. Cruise was already one of Hollywood’s elites when they tied the knot in 1990, but everyone wanted to know, who was this gorgeous Australian actress who stole his heart ?

They met on the set of the hit film Days of Thunder and tied the knot a year later on Christmas Eve in 1990. Before Kidman became the superstar she is today , she told Marie Claire per Goalcast that she felt like a trophy at the beginning of their marriage. “I thought, I don’t deserve to be here. We would go to the Oscars, and I would think, I’m here to support [Tom]. I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and to be seen and not heard.”

Then came kids, more films, and a lot of red carpet-appearances. They would frequently say how much they loved one another in interviews, with Cruise calling Kidman his “soulmate.”

They were the faces of ’90s love, and their sudden divorce in 2001 shocked everyone, along with Kidman being the reported reason Cruise skipped the 2023 Oscars over 20 years later.

So let’s throw it back to the 1990s and take a look at Kidman and Cruise’s life in photos.

Becoming Parents

In 1992, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise adopted a daughter named Isabella Jane and in 1995, they adopted a son named Connor . They were very private about their children’s lives and rarely put them in the spotlight.

Leaving Scientology

Nicole Kidman joined the Church of Scientology for Tom Cruise but decided to leave in 1997 . And at one point, she even got Cruise to leave for a brief period of time, according to The Daily Beast. 

Madly in Love

In a 2002 interview with Vanity Fair , the year after her divorce, Nicole Kidman admitted that she’d been so head over heels she overlooked some things. “I fell madly, passionately in love. And as happens when you fall in love, my whole plan in terms of what I wanted for my life — I was like, ‘Forget it. This is it.’ I was consumed by it, willingly. And I was desperate to have a baby with him. I didn’t care if we were married.”

‘Eyes Wide Shut’

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise worked together one final time on Stanley Kubrick’s sexy thriller Eyes Wide Shut   in 1999.

Fun After Filming

In a 2020 interview with The New York Times Magazine , Nicole Kidman said that during Eyes Wide Shut , she and Tom Cruise made some amazing memories together. “[We] were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to.”

Shocking Split

Despite officials saying it was an amicable split, Nicole Kidman said she was blindsided when Tom Cruise filed for divorce from her in 2001.

Cruise Moved On Quickly

During Tom Cruise’s divorce to Nicole Kidman, he started a relationship with  Vanilla Sky  co-star Penelope Cruz in 2001. They dated for a few years before splitting up in 2004, then he jumped into marrying his third wife Katie Holmes.

Happy Ending For Kidman

After the sudden divorce, Nicole Kidman threw herself into her acting. She got an Oscar nomination for her iconic role in Moulin Rouge and ended up winning an Oscar for her leading role in the 2003 film The Hours. She re-married to country music star Keith Urban in 2006. They share two daughters born in 2008 and 2010.

2023 Oscars Situation

Despite Cruise’s film  Top Gun: Maverick  receiving multiple nominations, he reportedly skipped the whole ceremony because he didn’t want to have a run-in with Kidman.

Still a Family

Kidman’s relationship with her oldest children, who reportedly lived primarily with Cruise after their divorce, has been a subject of debate. In recent years Bella has proven she’s on good terms with her mom by interacting with her on social media and defending her in interviews.

Isabella Cruise Marries in Secret Wedding, but Where Were Parents Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman?

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman 's daughter Isabella Cruise married her Brit IT consultant boyfriend Max Parker last month—and while she was joined by brother Connor, neither of her parents were there to witness the happy occasion.

"The wedding happened a couple of weeks ago, on Sept. 18," a source told Us Weekly . "And was a super low-key, small ceremony. Connor was there but both Tom and Nicole were not." Their big day reportedly went down at the Dorchester Hotel in Central London.

Australian weekly Woman's Day has pictures form the nuptials, which show the bride wearing a high-neck three-quarter-sleeve lace mini dress , and what appear to be her bridesmaids in oh-so-chic peach jumpsuits.

TMZ is reporting that the groom's parents also didn't make the guest list—instead the couple opted to swap vows in the presence of just a few close friends. They are reporting that Tom footed the bill for their big day, however, and that Max and Bella spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas with her father.

Beaming with confidence in the photograph above , the 22-year-old bride looked beautiful in white.

The adopted daughter of Tom and Nicole did away with a traditional gown and opted for a Sixties-inspired long-sleeved, white lace mini-dress.

Sitting atop of a simple slip was an intricate high-neck baby doll dress, while the cropped sleeves let her tattoos shine through.

Bella glowed with fresh, natural-looking make-up and her svelte figure stole the show after she recently shed ten-kilograms.

She finished off her look with a windswept, brunette pixie cut – a return to her natural shade after experimenting with purple and platinum blonde locks.

Joining the bride on her special day were her four bridesmaids, fellow graduates from the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, where Bella recently studied hairdressing.

Nicole Kidman is thrilled her eldest daughter has found love.

The girls looked feminine yet modern in blush-pink jumpsuits, which allowed the bride’s ensemble to truly pop.

Although the bridesmaids all wore the same outfit, each pal put put their own unique spin on their look.

Nicole’s daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise wed the love of her life, British IT consultant Max Parker, in a secret ceremony at The Dorchester Hotel in central London last month.

While Max isn’t a Scientologist like his wife, many of their close friends are, with Max working only a few kilometres away from the religion’s west Sussex HQ.

Way back when: Tom Cruise and his then-wife, Nicole Kidman, spend time with their children Connor and Isabella in 1996. During their marriage, the couple adopted their two children.

The private 22-year-old chose to share her day with a small group of friends, keen not to trigger a swarm of photographers that her high profile parents may attract.

During their 11-year marriage Nicole and Tom adopted Connor, now 20, and Bella.

In a recent interview with DuJour the mum-of-four, who shares two daughters with husband Keith Urban, spoke about her children and revealed she keeps in touch with Bella and Connor.

“I have four children, so to stay in touch with them it’s very important. I’m definitely engaged in [texting] but I don’t let it rule my life,” Nicole explained to the publication.

“I was so young,” Nicole Kidman tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Sam Kashner in the December-issue cover story,__ __reflecting back on her marriage to Tom Cruise when she was just 23 years old. “And you know, with no disrespect to what I had with Tom, I’ve met my great love now. And I really did not know if that was going to happen. I wanted it, but I didn’t want it for a while, because I didn’t want to jump from one relationship to another. I had a lot of time alone, which was really, really good, because I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up.”

Kidman, who was playing Virginia Woolf in The Hours at the time of her divorce from Cruise, recalls shooting Woolf’s suicide scene, walking into the River Ouse over and over again, as electric fans whipped up the river’s waves. “Walking into the river with those stones in my pockets—I chose life,” she says. “At the time, I was at a low point, and by playing her, it put me into a place of appreciating life.”

When asked about the unreal level of fame she endured during her marriage to Cruise, Kidman says, “There is something about that sort of existence that, if you really focus on each other and you’re in that bubble, it’s very intoxicating, because it’s just the two of you. And there is only one other person that’s going through it. So it brings you very close, and it’s deeply romantic. I’m sure Brad and Angelina have that—because there’s nobody else that understands it except that person who’s sleeping right next to you.”

Kidman tells Kashner, “Having experienced extreme fame and now getting to a place where it’s not so dominating in my life, I’m always surprised when I go somewhere and people know who I am.” She explains that when it’s seen through the eyes of her children “it jars me again, because they ask, ‘Why do they want a photo?’ and ‘Why is that person saying hello to you when you don’t know them?’ All of that stuff has to be explained to a five-year-old. So I see it through a different perspective.”

Kidman, who now lives in Nashville with her husband, Keith Urban, and their two daughters, tells Kashner she doesn’t miss Hollywood. “The whole business side of it—it’s too present. It doesn’t suit me,” she explains. “There’s an enormous amount you have to give up if you want to have a family. You can have a certain career, but you can’t be living in Hollywood, [where] absolutely everything, everything revolves around it. That wasn’t my choice. I’d rather revolve around somebody else’s career and then still find my own.” Kidman says she loves living in Nashville, “because I can kind of have a very odd, idiosyncratic kind of path. I have stepped away from the fame part of it. I didn’t find what I was looking for in fame. So I went, O.K., this is not for me. And it was such a blessing that I found somebody who said, ‘Well, are you willing to move to Tennessee?’ And I was ‘Oh, am I willing to move!’”

Kidman talks to Kashner about how having children has affected her marriage with Urban, saying it “gives you some glue, [so] you’re both kind of in there together and you’re having to work through raising them, which brings up an enormous amount of personal things in terms of history and your own life. Yet if you kind of move into each other, you discover and heal a lot of things in each other, too. Well, that’s what I’ve found for us—very, very healing, when it’s gently, gently done.”

Though Kidman calls her marriage “very, very peaceful,” she admits to Kashner that she struggles between “giving my life to my lover and my children” and “giving my life to my artistic desires.” Kidman says that’s always going to be her struggle “because I’m passionate, so I want to be able to give completely to both, and that doesn’t work always.” She tells Kashner “it’s a push-pull. It’s uncharted. My husband and I are in uncharted territory because we’re trying to find artistic expression but also we’re incredibly connected as a family—we’re very, very tight, very, very close, and I have a very, very primal protection of my family.”

"I'm wary at times, and I've been hurt, but at the same time I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shutdown approach."

Referencing her current husband, country singer Keith Urban, the "Nine Perfect Strangers" star added, "My husband, Keith, says that when he met me, he said, 'How's your heart?' And I apparently responded, 'Open.'"

Kidman and Cruise were married in 1990 and divorced in 2001. They share two children, a 28-year-old daughter, Isabella, and a 26-year-old son, Connor.

Cruise and Kidman adopted both Connor and his older biological sister, 30-year-old Bella Cruise, when they were still married.

Connor Cruise is enjoying summer on the golf course!

The 28-year-old son of  Tom Cruise  and  Nicole Kidman  took to his Instagram Stories over the weekend to share a rare photo of himself at the Belleair Country Club in Florida.

In the shot, Connor poses in a blue checkered polo shirt, shades, and a hat and flashes a peace sign while posing for the selfie alongside two friends.

The smiling shot was taken in Belleair, a city just a few miles away from Clearwater, Florida which, as of 2019, Connor calls home.

The re-post marks the first from Connor since an April 29 photo , which also saw the son of two of Hollywood's most famous actors, on the golf course. This time, Connor was seen at the Pelican Golf Club, also in Belleair. He rocked a similar fit, wearing in the pic, wearing a striped polo shirt, gray shorts, shades, and a hat, flashing a thumbs up while standing next to a friend on the green.

He captioned the post with some golfing emojis.

Connor has mostly stayed out of the spotlight in recent years despite his famous parents. He did, however, attend the Diesel Fashion Show for Milan Fashion Week in February.

Kidman, 55, and Cruise, 60, were married in 1990 before splitting in 2001.

While public appearances from the 28-year-old are few and far between , Connor has been photographed alongside his famous father on multiple occasions over the years, including an appearance at a 2021 October Los Angeles Dodgers game in San Francisco. The pair were photographed sitting side-by-side in the stands as Cruise took photos with fans.

Cruise and Connor were also photographed together in October 2019 in London before boarding a private helicopter.

In addition to Connor and Bella, Cruise shares 17-year-old daughter Suri with his ex-wife, Katie Holmes. Kidman, meanwhile, is also mom to daughters Sunday, 14, and Faith, 12, with husband, Keith Urban.

Inside Tom Cruise's Relationship With Nicole Kidman

They were the Hollywood "it" couple of the 1990s. When A-list actor Tom Cruise decided to make a movie about a race car driver called "Days of Thunder," the recently divorced star quickly fell in love with his little-known love interest, Australian actress Nicole Kidman. The year was 1990, and both the film and her newfound relationship with Cruise turned Kidman into an instant Hollywood starlet who eventually forged a career in her own right. But, before that, she was Cruise's loving wife and mother of his two adopted children.

By the time 1990 came to a close, Cruise and Kidman were married. This was 28-year-old Cruise's second marriage, as he had previously been wed to actress Mimi Rogers. It was 23-year-old Kidman's first marriage (via Parade ). For a time, Kidman even tried to become a Scientologist like her husband, but grew weary of it and even got her husband to leave the Church of Scientology briefly, according to The Daily Beast . 

However, their marriage wouldn't last much more than a decade, and there's still no real answer to why it suddenly ended.

During the time they were wed, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman fascinated Hollywood and dominated magazine covers. They even made two more acclaimed movies together: 1992's "Far and Away" and 1999's "Eyes Wide Shut" (via Parade ). In 2002, after their marriage had ended, Kidman described the beginning of her romance with Cruise to Vanity Fair . 

"He basically swept me off my feet. I fell madly, passionately in love," Kidman said. "And as happens when you fall in love, my whole plan in terms of what I wanted for my life — I was like, 'Forget it. This is it.' I was consumed by it, willingly. And I was desperate to have a baby with him. I didn't care if we were married. That's what I wish I'd done."

Although Kidman did marry this man who swept her off her feet, instead of having his babies, the pair chose to adopt. They added Isabella to their family in 1993 and Connor in 1995. 

"I was willing to give up everything," Kidman told Vanity Fair. "I now see that as part of me. I'm willing to do that — I do it when I do a movie too. I'm willing to go, 'Yeah, bring it on, consume me, intoxicate me.' I want to feel alive — I want to reel, basically. I was reeling with Tom and I loved it and I would have walked to the end of the earth."

When Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman made "Eyes Wide Shut" with legendary director Stanley Kubrick, the couple and their two children moved to England and were there for two years, living in a trailer and making spaghetti dinners with Kubrick as their frequent guest. It was rumored that the problems in the marriage began when they shot that dark film, but, in 2020, Kidman told The New York Times that was the furthest thing from the truth, at least in her eyes.

"That fits the narrative that people came up with, but I definitely didn't see it like that," Kidman said. "We were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We'd rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning. I don't know what else to say. Maybe I don't have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I'm not willing to."

Nicole Kidman was stunned when Tom Cruise filed for divorce

In 2001, Tom Cruise shocked the world and his wife when he suddenly filed for divorce. Later that year, Cruise wished Nicole Kidman well in an interview with Vanity Fair  but would not reveal why they split up.

"She knows why, and I know why," he said. "She's the mother of my children, and I wish her well. And I think that you just move on. And I don't say that lightly. I don't say that with anything. Things happen in life, and you do everything you can, and in every possible way, and there's a point at which you just sometimes have to face the brutal reality."

Kidman described that time in her life as tumultuous. She couldn't believe her marriage was over, and she wasn't sure what would happen next, telling Vanity Fair that she was so distraught that she was crying in the fetal position when her parents had to come over and convince her to move on with her life. "At the time, it felt like the work was going to be taken away from me," she said. "I had more things that I wanted to give, do, participate in." 

Luckily, her career has only flourished since then, with Kidman now having an Oscar win and three noms under her belt — as well as a happy 15-year marriage to Keith Urban.

Bella Cruise has secret wedding without Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman

Isabella Cruise has high-profile parents, but she is one low-key bride.

The 22-year-old adopted daughter of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, who goes by Bella, wed IT consultant Max Parker in September, reports Us Weekly.

"The wedding happened a couple of weeks ago, on Sept. 18," a source told Us. "And was a super low-key, small ceremony." Bella's parents didn't attend the nuptials, and there are conflicting reports about whether her younger brother, Connor, 20, was there.

The source added: "Bella really didn't want to make a big deal out of it. There wasn't even any sort of official reception as was very, very informal."

Another source told Us that the bride and groom wed in a conference room that was decorated with flowers; guests then moved onto the dining area for dinner.

People reports that Tom supports the marriage and paid for the wedding.

Bella got married in a white lace mini-dress and was accompanied by her bridesmaids, whom she met at the Vidal Sassoon Academy.

Shortly after their wedding, the couple worked together again on Ron Howard ‘s drama Far and Away , which hit theaters in 1992. That same year, the duo adopted daughter Isabella shortly after her birth. In 1995, they adopted son Connor, who later starred in the films Seven Pounds and Red Dawn .

Cruise and Kidman collaborated for a third time on Stanley Kubrick’s final film, Eyes Wide Shut , which premiered in 1999. “We were happily married through that,” the Hours actress told The New York Times in 2020, reflecting on where she stood with Cruise while making the controversial movie. “We would go go-kart racing after [intense] scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning.”

Less than two years after the movie’s release, however, the couple announced their separation. “Citing the difficulties inherent in divergent careers which constantly keep them apart, they concluded that an amicable separation seemed best for both of them at this time,” a rep for the duo said in a February 2001 statement.

The Jerry Maguire actor later moved on with Penélope Cruz before marrying Katie Holmes in 2006. Cruise and the Dawson’s Creek alum, who share daughter Suri (born in 2006), split in 2012.

Kidman, for her part, was briefly engaged to Lenny Kravitz in 2003. In June 2006, she wed country star Keith Urban , with whom she shares daughters Sunday Rose (born in 2008) and Faith (born in 2010).

Former Scientologist Mike Rinder claimed in 2022 that the church played a role in the couple's breakup by creating a "distance" between them. The church denied Rinder's claims in a September 2022 statement, saying: "The Church never ordered or participated in any illegal wiretapping. Nicole Kidman Reflects On Her Early Marriage To Tom Cruise

Ah, the ’90s! Matthew Perry was dating Julia Roberts (aka Chandler Bing and Vivian Ward), Bennifer 1.0 were going strong and Nicole Kidman had married Tom Cruise. The pair were Hollywood’s hottest couple from sharing their vows in 1990 before they shockingly split in 2001. All the while the couple were placed under intense media scrutiny. While both Kidman and Cruise are notoriously private about how their relationship ended, the actress has since reflected on how the tabloids played a part.

Speaking in a cover interview for  Harper’s Bazaar ,  she questioned whether she was too honest about their partnership.

“I was young. I think I offered it up?” she said when asked about the scrutiny they faced in the ’90s and early noughts. “Maybe I’ve gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I’m always trying to be as open as possible. I just prefer to live in the world that way.”

“I’m wary at times, and I’ve been hurt, but at the same time I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shutdown approach,” she continued. “My husband, Keith [Urban], says that when he met me, he said, ‘How’s your heart?’ And I apparently responded, ‘Open.'”

Kidman and Cruise share two children from their 11-year marriage, son Connor, 26, and daughter Isabella, 28. The two stars met on the set of  Days of Thunder  and married just six months after that. Their last film from 1999, Eyes Wide Shut,  explored a married couple who were grappling with infidelity. Despite pressing questions in a 2020 interview from the New York Times ,  Kidman assured they were happily married.

“We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning,” she told the publication.

Kidman married Urban in 2006 and the couple have remained inseparable since.

While the artist often shares her work with her social media followers, she doesn't upload pictures of herself as frequently. In fact, her last selfie appeared to be in March, when she gave a peek at her new ‘do . And while fans are used to seeing Bella's parents up on the big screen, she seems to prefer staying out of the limelight—with her last public appearance being in 2021 when she attended an art exhibition in London hosted by  Courtney Love . 

Nicole and Tom are also protective when it comes to the privacy of Bella and her 28-year-old brother  Connor Cruise —who the stars adopted while they were married from 1990 to 2001—and have said little about them publicly.

"I'm very private about all that," the  Moulin Rouge  actress told Australian outlet  Who  in 2018. "I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."

Before Cruise became an A-list star, one of his girlfriends was Little House on the Prairie ’s Melissa Gilbert. Though their relationship was short-lived, she told Andy Cohen in 2014 the star was a good kisser. At that time, Cruise didn’t have a lot of money: “He was like a struggling, starving actor and I was working. I actually bought him his first set of dishes,” said Gilbert.

Back in 2013, Locklear told Chelsea Handler that sparks flew between her and Cruise during an audition in Los Angeles. She said that at the time he “didn’t have any friends,” so the pair hung out. The allegations, which included extreme descriptions of how Boniadi was prepped to meet the star, were made in HBO’s documentary about Scientology, Going Clear . Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's Daughter Bella Shares Rare Glimpse of Herself Online

Isabella Kidman Cruise gave followers a quick peek of herself, sharing a tense clip on Instagram while she watched the England national soccer team

Isabella "Bella" Kidman Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman , is making a rare appearance online.

On Wednesday, the 28-year-old artist, who typically sticks to sharing photos of her artwork on her Instagram account, posted a short black and white video of herself on her Instagram Story.

"My face during extra time... fingers crossed," Bella captioned it, adding an emoji of the British flag.

She and her husband Max Parker live together in London. The artist was seemingly showing support for England's national soccer team during the Euro 2020 semifinals before the team won 2-1 against Denmark in extra time.

Earlier this year, she gave followers another rare snap, posting a photo of herself bundled up in a beanie, scarf and coat as she looked into the camera. "Same face, new prints now available on the shop," she wrote in the caption .

Before that, the last time she posted a photo other than art was in August when Bella shared a shot of herself in front of a mirror wearing a black newsboy cap with a glitter Instagram filter.

"All that glitters is gold.. oh wait, it's just another Instagram filter," she captioned the post.

Bella has lived a quiet life outside the spotlight, only making headlines in 2015 for her marriage to Parker. She also launched a clothing line in February 2018 called BKC (Bella Kidman Cruise).

Cruise and Kidman are parents to Bella and her younger brother Connor, 26. The former couple divorced in 2001 and have since respected their children's privacy. A source told PEOPLE in July 2018 that Cruise "loves all his children. And each of them has a right to their own story."

When asked about her relationship with her oldest children by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in November 2018, Kidman said, "I'm very private about all that," as reported by Australia's Who Magazine . "I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150% that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."

Suri Cruise was once the most famous baby in America.

The arrival of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter on April 18, 2006, sparked a global frenzy for the first glimpse of the A-list infant.

But it wasn’t until five months after her birth that she made her debut — on the cover of Vanity Fair, wrapped in the arms of her doting parents, in glossy photos taken by photographer to the stars, Annie Leibovitz.

Now she turns 18 this week and faces a choice: Whether to return to the level of fame she had as a kid — when there were blogs devoted to her fashion — or maintain the carefully-guarded life Holmes has built for her since she blindsided Cruise by filing for divorce.

The dark-haired teen has grown up in Manhattan largely shielded from the spotlight by her loving and highly protective mum, 45, far removed from her 60-year-old father’s Church of Scientology.

As Page Six revealed last year, Suri is estranged from her famous father and the pair have no relationship.

An industry source told us this week that the Mission: Impossible star has not seen Suri since 2012. “Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mum,” the source said.

“This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Holmes told Glamour magazine in 2023 that she likes to “protect” Suri from the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person. She’s my heart,” she added.

Being the only daughter of a protective single parent is a stark contrast to how Suri’s life began, of course.

“My whole life I always wanted to be a father,” Cruise gushed to VF back in 2006.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.

“I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”

He already had two adopted children, Bella, now 31, and Connor, now 29, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman and after her Vanity Fair debut was happy to parade Suri for the paparazzi.

Cruise had famously declared their romance by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in May 2005, yelling “I’m in love!”

But when Suri was just 6, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage with the help of her dad, Martin Holmes, a fierce lawyer, and through a secret plan that entailed using burner phones.

Cruise was taken completely by surprise by the filing while he was on the set of Oblivion in Iceland in June 2012.

He and Suri were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.

In November 2013, during a deposition in his $US50 million court battle against a pair of tabloid magazines, the Top Gun star admitted that Holmes had filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed.

Despite not having a relationship; as per their divorce agreement, Cruise, who has an estimated $US600 million fortune, agreed to pay Holmes $US400,000 a year until Suri turns 18 as well as future “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extra-curricular costs”.

Scientology lies at the heart of the question over Suri’s future.

Holmes, who rose to fame in the TV hit, Dawson’s Creek , is believed to have signed multiple nondisclosure documents that will prevent her from ever talking about her marriage to Cruise — and her time inside Scientology.

But when Suri turns 18, NY state declares that she is at the age of majority, when an individual is legally considered an adult.

That would allow her to speak about her father, his beliefs and their rift.

Tony Ortega, who has covered Scientology in depth for decades, told Page Six, “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”

We have reached out to reps for Cruise, Holmes and the Church of Scientology.

“Part of why Katie left when she did when Suri was 6 was that Katie would have seen Isabella and Connor going through Scientology,” said Ortega.

Cruise is of course Scientology’s most famous follower and seen as one of its most powerful figures, possibly second only to its leader, David Miscavige.

That power has led Ortega and former Scientologists to question what action Miscavige and other top Scientologists may have taken against Holmes and her daughter.

Regular members who quit are declared “suppressive persons (SP)” and those who stay in Scientology are told to completely cut them off.

“We don’t know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP,” Ortega said.

“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff.

“Your average member would be kicked out, but David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”

Both Mike Rinder and Jeff Augustine, two high-profile former Scientologists, agreed with this claim.

Augustine is married to Karen de la Carriere, who was one of the highest-ranking church leaders until she left in 2010 and told Page Six, “The situation with Suri is a larger story about Scientology and the subject of how they make people no longer useful to them or threats to them non-persons.

“It’s like they cease to exist and that’s what happened to Suri.”

Back in August 2020, Leah Remini — one of the most famous celebrities to leave and speak out against Scientology — told us that she believed Cruise, who now lives mainly in the UK, was waiting until Suri is older so he could indoctrinate her into Scientology.

Remini, who attended Cruise and Holmes’ November 2006 Italian wedding at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle, said, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Suri has tiptoed very gently into her parents’ showbusiness world while attending her exclusive Manhattan day school, singing B lue Moon in the opening credits of Holmes’ 2022 movie, Alone Together.

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said. “So I asked her! She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.”

Suri also sang in the film Rare Objects , which Holmes also directed.

Holmes will this year return to Broadway in a revival of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town .

She has not remarried but had a six-year romance with actor Jamie Foxx which she kept under the radar before their split in August 2019 and went on to have a brief fling with Nolita restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. in 2021.

Holmes is careful not to speak out too much about her daughter, who is now preparing for college, once saying, “She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.”

But she is now getting ready for her daughter to leave the nest.

“You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they’re going to go,” she told Town & Country in 2017.

As for the future, former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder, who has not seen his own two eldest children since he quit the organisation, told Page Six, “Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be … she deserves love and sympathy.”

Much like a Disney fairytale, Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife Princess Charlene had to overcome several obstacles before their royal wedding in 2011.

The couple tied the knot over three days, including a concert by the Eagles, a civil ceremony in the palace's Throne Room, and a religious ceremony. The reception at the latter saw Prince Albert make a heartfelt speech to his new bride in which he acknowledged their relationship was "not an easy" journey.

"It has been a very emotional journey to this day, sometimes not an easy one. Charlene, thank you for putting up with my inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies. You are a wonderful woman. Marrying you is the best decision I’ve ever taken. I’m happy to share my life with you," he said, according to  Vogue .

Grace Kelly's son began dating the former Olympic swimmer in 2005 after first crossing paths at the Mare Nostrum swimming meet in Monaco in 2000. However, Charlene had to relocate her life from South Africa to Monaco and Albert had to deal with multiple paternity claims before they tied the knot. 

First, former flight attendant Nicole Coste claimed she shared her son Alexandre with Albert, which was confirmed by a paternity test in 2005. The royal also later revealed he had fathered a daughter called Jazmin Grace with Tamara Rotolo in 1992.

Sharing an insight into Albert's relationship with his son, Nicole told French magazine Paris Match: "Albert made a commitment from the start to be present, and to gradually bring his son into his family.

"Very quickly, I was reassured when Princess Stephanie became Alexander's godmother. Albert has honored his promise: things are building well and running their course, which I am delighted with."

While he has developed a similarly close relationship with his daughter, their first meeting did not happen until she was aged 11. "I wanted that moment to connect with my father, to get to know him, and to have him get to know me," opera singer Jazmin told Harper's Baazar in 2015.

"Not having had that figure around, I missed that. It's wonderful that it happened when it did, and we've been enjoying a great relationship ever since."

There were also rumours circulating that Charlene was not happy in the relationship, with some claiming she tried to leave before the marriage took place. Shutting down these claims, Albert's advisor Christiane Stahl told People: "Charlene never left to go to the airport, nothing like that ever happened. She was never upset and never wanted to stop the wedding."

Charlene's tears on her wedding day only served to fuel the fire, and she was later forced to clarify she was emotional because she felt "overwhelmed" by the interest in their relationship.

Charlene said in an interview with The Times: "Everything was just so overwhelming and there were all the mixed emotions because of the rumours, and obviously the tension built up and I burst into tears [immediately after the ceremony].

"And then I burst into tears some more because I was thinking "Oh no, now the whole world has seen me cry"'.

The mother-of-two – who welcomed twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques on 10 December 2014 –  added: "It was such a wonderful three days. Even months afterwards I would get flashbacks and think, 'Oh, my goodness, did I really have the Eagles playing at my wedding?' I think back and wonder how we managed to pull it off."
