Water Slides on Disney Cruise Line

AquaDuck Water Slide

AquaDuck is the most thrilling water slide on Disney Cruise Line ships. It is a high-speed water slide with 4-deck drop and 765-foot track. Riders sit in two-person rafts and are pushed by water jets.

AquaDuck is a water coaster on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy cruise ships on Deck 16. While sliding you can enjoy stunning views of the ocean and ship.

AquaDuck is a great way to cool off and have fun on your Disney Cruise. If you are looking for a thrilling water slide experience, AquaDuck is a great option.

Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride AquaDuck.

AquaMouse Water Slide on Disney Wish

AquaMouse Water Slide

AquaMouse is a water coaster on a Disney Wish cruise ship. It is the first water coaster at sea and based on Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

The AquaMouse has two tracks that intertwine and twist around each other, taking riders on a wild adventure through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks of the ship.

The AquaMouse is divided into two stories, each with its own set of animatronic scenes and special effects.

  • The first story is called "Swiss Meltdown" and features Mickey and friends trying to stop a cheese fondue from melting and flooding the ship.
  • The second story is called "Scuba Scramble" and features Mickey and friends scuba diving through a sunken ship.

The AquaMouse is a family-friendly attraction that is suitable for guests of all ages. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the AquaMouse.

AquaDunk Water Slide on Disney Magic Cruise

AquaDunk Water Slide

AquaDunk is a 3-story body slide located on the Disney Magic cruise ship. It is a surprise launch slide, which means that the floor beneath riders opens like a trap door, sending them on a near-vertical drop.

The slide is 212 feet long and extends 20 feet over the side of the ship. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the AquaDunk.

The AquaDunk is located on Deck 11, near the AquaLab splash area. It is open from 9am to 5pm daily.

Mickey's Slide

Mickey's Slide is a water slide for families on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy cruise ships. It is a single-person slide that is shaped like Mickey Mouse's head. Riders sit in a raft and are launched down the slide, making a big splash at the bottom.

Mickey's Slide is on Deck 12, near the AquaDuck water coaster on the Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy ships.

It is a shorter and less exciting slide than the AquaDuck, but it is still fun for people of all ages.

Rides are open from 9am to 5pm every day and riders must be at least 38 inches tall and no more than 64 inches tall to ride Mickey's Slide.

The 6 best cruise ship waterslides and watery fun zones

Gene Sloan

Call it the Battle of the Waterslides.

In the last few years, the big boys of the cruise industry — Royal Caribbean , MSC Cruises , Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line — have been locked in a game of one-upmanship when it comes to waterslides and watery fun zones on vessels.

In addition to such over-the-top, new attractions as go-kart tracks and roller coasters , the brands behind the biggest megaresorts at sea have been packing the top decks of their vessels with even more over-the-top watery allures.

For more cruise guides, news and reviews, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Royal Caribbean, for instance, added an 800-foot-long "water coaster" to the back of its 3,386-passenger Navigator of the Seas just a few years ago. It's one of more than two dozen giant waterslides the line has added to more than half a dozen ships in the last seven years.

Royal Caribbean also plans a record six waterslides on its next new ship, Icon of the Seas, which is scheduled to debut in January 2024.

But as recently as early 2016, Royal Caribbean didn't have a single waterslide on any of its vessels.

disney cruise ships with water slide

MSC Cruises also has gone big with giant water parks in the past seven years, with as many as four waterslides on more than half a dozen of its newest vessels. Norwegian has loaded up its most recent ships with giant water parks, too — some have as many as five waterslides!

Not to be outdone, Carnival, an early adopter of waterslides on ships, has added sprawling water park areas with multiple waterslides to almost every vessel in its fleet.

A brief history of water attractions at sea

In the beginning, there was the pool. As watery cruise ship attractions go, it has long been the staple — something found on nearly every cruise vessel going back to the 1970s.

But as early as 1978, at least one line was spicing up its Lido decks with a little waterslide fun — little being the operative word. That's the year Carnival added a single slide into the pool on its 728-passenger Festivale — a slide so small it's now hilarious to think it was touted as an attraction.

Carnival Cruise Line added a waterslide to a vessel for the first time in 1978, to the 728-passenger Festivale. (Photo courtesy of Carnival Cruise Line).

Often cited as the first waterslide ever on a cruise vessel, the Festivale slide was of a sort that was found at backyard pools at the time. The cruise industry was still in its infancy, of course, and ships were orders of magnitude smaller than they are today. Festivale measured just 32,697 tons, about one-seventh the size of today's biggest cruise vessels.

Carnival, the so-called Fun Ship line, would go on to become the early leader in waterslides at sea. The 2,056-passenger Carnival Fantasy, which debuted in 1990, was the first cruise ship with a significant waterslide. It measured 115 feet in length.

Just six years later, in 1996, Carnival would make news with the unveiling of a 214-foot-long corkscrew waterslide on what then was called Destiny. (The ship currently sails as the Carnival Sunshine after being rebuilt in 2013.) At the time, Destiny was the biggest cruise ship in the world.

In more recent years, Carnival has gone into waterslide-building overdrive. The line has added full-blown water park areas with waterslides, watery play zones and other features to all but four of its 25 ships. All but one of Carnival's ships (Carnival Luminosa) now have at least one waterslide.

One of the Carnival water parks, on the line's 5-year-old Carnival Horizon, even has Disney-style theming revolving around Dr. Seuss characters.

Norwegian, MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean only began going big with waterslides on ships in the past decade or so. Many of the newest vessels from the brands have massive water park areas. Some of the brands are retrofitting big waterslides onto older ships, too.

Additionally, family-focused Disney Cruise Line now has major water attractions on all its vessels.

Where you'll find the biggest waterslides at sea

If your idea of the perfect cruise ship is one loaded to the gills with waterslides and watery fun zones (plus all sorts of other over-the-top attractions), you'll want to stick to the biggest floating megaresorts operated by Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC Cruises and Carnival.

At Royal Caribbean, that means the giant Oasis-class vessels , which include Wonder of the Seas — the world's largest cruise ship. At Norwegian, you'll find the biggest waterslides and water parks on the line's relatively recently built Breakaway Plus-, Breakaway- and Epic-class ships. At MSC Cruises, the new Seaside-, Meraviglia-, Meraviglia Plus- and World-class vessels have the line's big water parks.

A large waterpark complex called WaterWorks sits atop Carnival Cruise Line's newest ship, Carnival Panorama. (Photo courtesy of Carnival Cruise Line).

Big lines that have steered clear of the water-park-at-sea trend include Princess Cruises, Holland America and Celebrity Cruises. Geared more toward couples than families and typically drawing an older demographic, all three of these lines have stuck to a more subdued feel for the outdoor areas of their ships. The top decks of vessels operated by Princess, Holland America and Celebrity still mostly revolve around traditional swimming areas with pools, hot tubs and lounge chairs.

Ready for a splashy, top-deck thrill? These are the most spectacular watery attractions at sea.

The Perfect Storm

Where you'll find it: Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas.

disney cruise ships with water slide

This isn't just one giant waterslide; it's a whole complex of waterslides, each one among the most exciting you'll find anywhere on the world's oceans.

The Perfect Storm is found on four of Royal Caribbean's massive Oasis-class vessels — Wonder of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas — as well as the smaller Liberty of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas. The complex includes two four-deck-high racer slides called Cyclone and Typhoon, where you can do side-by-side speed tests with your travel partner.

On the four Oasis-class ships, there's also a third, Champagne bowl-style slide called Supercell. It'll swirl you around a big basin before plummeting you "down the drain" into a plunge pool. On Liberty of the Seas, a third slide called The Tidal Wave sends you screaming down a steep hill on an inner tube to a nearly vertical incline. Zooming upward, topping out and dropping back, you'll get a blissful moment of complete weightlessness.

Note that Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas also has a waterslide area called Perfect Storm — but it's completely different. More on that in a moment.

The Blaster

Where you'll find it: Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas.

The Blaster on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas is the longest water slide at sea. (Photo courtesy of Royal Caribbean).

The Blaster is the Big Daddy of waterslides at sea. At 800 feet, it's the longest ever built on a cruise ship. Added to Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas in 2019, it's a seemingly endless stretch of yellow and orange tubing that winds around the back deck of the vessel like a snake.

A true sight to behold, The Blaster is so long because it's what's known as a water coaster. It features water jets that propel you up, down and forward — extending the ride — as you careen around the ship's basketball court and surfing simulator in an inner tube. At times, you go flying over the side of the ship, over open water (not that you have much time to take in the view).

Royal Caribbean has named the area on Navigator of the Seas where The Blaster is located the Perfect Storm — the same name used for waterslide areas on six other ships — but the area is completely different than what you'll find on the other vessels. In addition to The Blaster, the Perfect Storm area on Navigator of the Seas includes a headfirst mat racer slide called Riptide — the first of its kind at sea.

Where you'll find it: Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream.

Disney Fantasy waterslide

Leave it to family-focused Disney Cruise Line to come up with the coolest watery family attraction at sea. AquaDuck is a water coaster, like The Blaster on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, and is found on Disney's two Dream-class ships. But don't expect anything too white-knuckle. The ride is relatively gentle by water park standards, mainly because it's designed for kids of all ages (and their parents, who can ride along on inner tubes for two).

While AquaDuck is slightly shorter than The Blaster at 765 feet in length, it has a bigger presence, thanks to its prime location encircling the main pool area. If you're lounging up top, it's hard to miss the massive, clear acrylic tubing of the ride, which is held up by 46 giant white stilts.

In addition to AquaDuck, the two Disney ships with the attraction (Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream ) have a relatively small, kid-friendly waterslide next to the centrally located Mickey's Pool. Dubbed Mickey's Slide, it's held up by a giant Mickey hand, which is delightful. Both ships also have a watery play zone for toddlers called Nemo's Reef. Plus, Disney Fantasy has a watery fun zone with water jets, geysers and bubblers called AquaLab.

Note that Disney's newest ship — Disney Wish — has a water coaster attraction similar to the AquaDuck called the AquaMouse. The big difference: Riders will see animated shorts while riding up the ramp at the start of the ride.

Carnival WaterWorks

Where you'll find it: Nearly all Carnival ships.

disney cruise ships with water slide

When it comes to waterslides on ships, cruise giant Carnival is still the undisputed king. The Fun Ship line began adding them to vessels way back in 1978, and there's now at least one waterslide on every ship in the Carnival fleet — something no other line can say.

Indeed, on all Carnival ships, there's now not just a single waterslide but a whole water park area. Called WaterWorks, these areas vary in size and features from vessel to vessel, but they typically have one or two big waterslides, a watery play zone with interactive water features and a large continuously filling dump bucket that periodically soaks everybody within range.

You'll typically find the biggest Carnival water park complexes on the newest Carnival ships, such as Mardi Gras , Celebration and Carnival Venezia . All three have three waterslides — one more than most Carnival ships.

Aqua Park (Norwegian Cruise Line)

Where you'll find it: Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore.

The Epic Plunge on Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Epic. (Photo courtesy of Norwegian Cruise Line).

Norwegian Cruise Line began going big with waterslides in 2010 when it debuted Norwegian Epic. And boy, did it go big! Norwegian Epic offers three monster waterslides, including the thrilling Epic Plunge — a 200-foot-long tube ride that ends in a swirling bowl. Epic Plunge is part of Norwegian Epic's Aqua Park, the first water park on a Norwegian ship. Norwegian has since added Aqua Parks to six more new vessels, including its biggest ship, the 4-year-old Norwegian Encore .

Norwegian's Aqua Parks vary in size and attractions from ship to ship, but some of them, such as the one on Norwegian Breakaway, have as many as five separate multistory waterslides. Yes, you read that right: Five waterslides on a single cruise ship!

On Norwegian Breakaway, the lineup includes twin free-fall slides that drop passengers nearly straight down several stories; two side-by-side twisting racer slides; and a family-friendly slide with a more modest drop. For sheer variety, the complex is hard to beat.

Aqua Park (MSC Cruises)

Where you'll find it: MSC Seascape, MSC Seashore, MSC Seaview, MSC Seaside, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Bellissima, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Virtuosa, MSC Euribia, MSC World Europa.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Fast-growing MSC Cruises has joined the waterslide wars in the last few years — and in a massive way. Each of the 10 ships the line has unveiled since 2017 offers a full-blown water park on its top deck that's packed with waterslides and other watery fun.

On North America-based MSC Seaside, the Aqua Park has four waterslides and a children's play area with interactive water features. The waterslides include two massive, 525-foot-long dueling slides that extend over the sides of the ship. The top of the Aqua Park on MSC Seaside is also home to the liftoff point for a zip line that soars 344 feet across the top of the vessel.

Other MSC Cruises water parks at sea include the winter-themed Polar Aqua Park on MSC Meraviglia, which offers a suspended-in-the-sky ropes course in addition to four waterslides. There's also the Aquaplay area for the little ones.

Two MSC Cruises ships — MSC Seashore and MSC World Europa — even have virtual reality waterslides that involve riders wearing virtual reality headsets as part of the experience.

In all, 14 of MSC Cruises' 22 vessels now have at least one waterslide on their top decks.

Disney Fantasy Pools: Make a Splash On Your Disney Cruise

by Eric Freilich | Oct 20, 2021 | Disney Cruise Line , Disney Fantasy

Are you practically a fish? Then you’ll love all the Disney Fantasy pools aboard your next Disney Cruise.

With so much to see and do on a Disney Cruise, sometimes you need a break from the almost endless activities that the Disney Fantasy has to offer. In addition to the entertainment , restaurants, and meet and greets, the Disney Fantasy also features several unique pools for you and your family to enjoy.

So just how many pools are on the Disney Fantasy?  There are eight pools on the Disney Fantasy, including options with water slides and even an adults-only swimmin’ hole.

The AquaDuck. Photo courtesy of Disney

The AquaDuck is unique to the Disney Fantasy and her sister the Disney Dream . Dubbed as a “water coaster,” the AquaDuck, located on Deck 12, takes riders on a journey through 765 feet of a partially enclosed/partially open waterslide .

Riders board a two-person raft for a thrilling ride around the ship, including through the Forward Funnel, before gently splashing down and exiting your raft. For added fun, ride at night to see multicolored lights along your journey.

Satellite Falls

Satellite Falls on the Disney Fantasy is the perfect spot to relax and cool off during your Disney Cruise .

Wade in the water while enjoying a gentle rain curtain , then soak up some sun (or moon) on the Satellite Sun Deck just a few steps away. Whether you’re enjoying the water or relaxing in a lounge chair, you’ll be treated to stunning ocean views on the top deck.

Nemo’s Reef

Nemo’s Reef on Deck 11 is made exclusively for young children to enjoy. The enclosed 1,500-foot play area features fountains and splash pads surrounded by colorful figures of Nemo and his friends.

Little minnows even have their own water slide, so they won’t feel like they’re missing out on riding one of the larger slides.

Quiet Cove Pool

The Quiet Cove Pool is an adult’s only spot on Deck 11 where cruises can relax sans children. There are plush lounge chairs surrounding the pool and additional seating built into the pool itself.

Enjoy live music poolside or indulge in complimentary snacks at the nearby Cove Café throughout the day and night (until they close).

The “ Number One Duck ” (at least according to him) has his own pool on Deck 11. It’s a great alternative if you can’t find a spot at Mickey’s Pool.

Cast Members lead activities throughout the day for children—and children at heart—to enjoy. As with Mickey’s Pool, seating may be limited, and children younger than 16 must have adult supervision.

The AquaLab. Photo courtesy of Disney

Huey, Dewey, and Louie are in charge of the mischief at the AquaLab on Deck 12 of the Disney Fantasy near the entrance to the AquaDuck.

The play zone features paint cans, showerheads, and geysers for little ones, randomly leaking pipes to plug, wheels and levers that pretend to control the AquaDuck, and Donald’s leaky boat, the Ducky Dinghy .

There’s also a wading pool where kids can cool off.

Funnel Puddle

According to Disney, the Funnel Puddle pool on the Disney Fantasy proves “ a little water goes a long way.”

Guests can pass the time sitting or splashing in the pool’s central fountain . Soak up some sun and enjoy the ocean breeze in this pool on Deck 12.

As with the other pools, you’ll want to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for operating hours.

Disney Fantasy Pools: Helpful Hints

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your time in the pools aboard the Disney Fantasy.

  • Try to visit the pools while in port as they tend to be less crowded than on sea days.
  • Remember to protect yourself from the sun by wearing, and reapplying, sunscreen throughout the day . Please choose a reef-safe option!
  • Pack several bathing suits for your cruise so you aren’t waiting for one to dry to return to the pools.
  • Review the “Know Before You Go” guidelines on each of the pool’s pages to make sure you know the rules.

Now that you know more about the pools on the Disney Fantasy, which one will you dive into first?

AquaDuck Water Coaster on the Disney Dream

Handout/Handout/Getty Images

Water slides are a dime a dozen on cruise ships, but the AquaDuck is the only water coaster on a cruise ship with the kind of drops and g-forces you would experience on a roller coaster. It is located on the top decks of the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , which are two sister ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

Circle the Top Deck

The 765-foot-long AquaDuck is elevated high above Deck 11 on tall stilts. The water coaster circles the ship in a transparent acrylic tube, with water jets propelling riders through uphill sections. The majority of the ride takes place in a clear tube, but a section of the ride is enclosed as it travels through the ship's forward funnel.

Ride Solo or With a Friend

Riders sit on rubber rafts that hold up to two people. Most of the ride takes place in a transparent acrylic tube, so riders can see outside. Riders must adhere to these rules:

  • Kids must be at least 42 inches tall to ride the AquaDuck.
  • Kids who meet the height requirement but are not yet seven years old must ride with another rider who is at least 14 years old.
  • Kids must be at least 54 inches tall to ride alone.

Zoom Over the Ship's Edge

After leaving the loading area, the raft zooms 12 feet out over the edge of the ship and 150 feet above the water.

Take in the View

Because the AquaDuck's tube is clear, riders can see the ship's top deck and out over the ocean.

Sit Back and Enjoy the Ride

The AquaDuck's gentle slope lets riders enjoy a leisurely trip around the ship. After boarding, the ride takes just over a minute to complete.

Check out the Fun Below

While on the AquaDuck, riders can survey the top deck of the Disney Dream , with its two family pools, yellow slide at the Mickey Pool, shaded water splash area for little ones, and Disney movies on the big screen.

Wave at Family and Friends

 More fun facts:

  • The AquaDuck uses about 10,000 gallons of water per minute.
  • In the Edge, the tweens' lounge, several windows let kids catch a glimpse of AquaDuck riders as they zoom by.
  • At night, the AquaDuck's lights are turned on for a colorful and different ride experience.

Come in for a Gentle Splashdown

At the end of the ride, the AquaDuck emerges from the tube and splashes down gently into a landing pool. You'll be nearly dry when you emerge from the raft.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship Pools and Picture Tour

waterslide on cruise ship

Are you looking for pictures of the Disney Magic cruise ship pool deck?

No matter on which of the Disney ships you are sailing, the pool deck is always one of the most fun places to be!

With activities like pools, splash pads, and water slides, kids of all ages have so fun things to do.

In this post, I will provide a picture tour of Deck 9 of the Disney Magic cruise ship, including tips for using the pools and restaurants.

Disney Magic Swimming Pools

Splash zones on disney magic cruise ship, disney magic water slides, pool deck restaurants, tips and tricks.

The pool deck is located on Deck 9 of the Disney Magic, which you can see on this deck plan . It is FULL of activities and entertainment for the whole family, including some really fun Disney themed pools!

Disney Magic water slide and splash pad with text overlay Disney Magic Pool Deck Details with Pictures

If you are wondering if the Disney cruise ship pools are heated, you will be happy to learn that they are! Below, I will discuss each of the swimming pools on the Disney Magic, including some important information you will want to know.

Goofy’s Pool

Goofy’s Pool is located in the middle of Deck 9 and is the larger of the two kid-friendly swimming pools. Two hot tubs, which also allow children inside, are situated near this pool as well.

Goofy’s Pool on the Disney Magic

You are permitted to sit directly on the deck surrounding the pool to watch your child swim. Lounge chairs are also available surrounding this pool, and we never have a problem finding a seat. My six year old was able to stand in Goofy’s Pool, so it isn’t super deep.

Funnel Vision and AquaDunk on Disney Magic

We love Goofy’s Pool because it’s near Funnel Vision, which is the giant screen that shows Disney movies while you swim or sunbathe!

Huey, Dewey, and Louie Pool

The smaller pool on the Disney Magic features Donald Duck’s nephews: Huey, Dewey, and Louie. This pool is really shallow and looks like it is made for babies and toddlers; however, this is not the case.

Disney Magic kids pool with water slide

Like Goofy’s Pool, this swim area is for those children who are at least three years old AND potty trained. I would like to note that this pool was closed about once per day on our most recent cruise.

I did not ask a lifeguard, but I am guessing that a child had an “accident” in the pool, which required Disney to drain and sanitize the swimming area.

Quiet Cove Pool

The Quiet Cove Pool is located toward the front of the ship and is for adults only. Like the name implies, this pool is a quiet place for grown ups to relax in a child free zone.

adult pool on Disney Magic

The Quiet Cove Pool includes two hot tub areas and a bar. This pool was never crowded, and it always seemed like a really peaceful place to spend time.

The pool hours can vary depending on the activities scheduled. You will be able to see the hours for each swimming pool on the Disney Navigator App . You can also check the Personal Navigator each day to see the available swimming times.

Disney Cruise Line personal navigator

Goofy’s Pool is typically opened from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.  Disney Cruise Line will close the pool for deck parties like the Sail-A-Wave Party. This is because they cover the pool and use it as a dance floor/ stage during the show.

You will see the pool rules posted near each swimming pool area. In short, children must be 3 years old or older to use the pools. In addition, they MUST be potty trained.

You will see lifeguards monitoring each of the swimming pools to make sure the rules are being followed.

If you are cruising with a baby or toddler under the age of 3, the Disney cruise ships provide splash pad areas perfect for little ones. These water play areas really set Disney Cruise Line apart from other cruise lines .

Nephews’ Splash Zone

If you are cruising with a baby or toddler, you will more than likely spend a lot of your pool deck time at Nephews’ Splash Zone.  This splash pad area is the ONLY swimming place that kids under the age of three may play.

Nephews’ Splash Zone on the Disney Magic

Nephews’ Splash Zone is located at the back of Deck 9 and features Huey, Dewey, and Louie spraying out water. It also has tiny fountains that spray water from the ground.

If you are planning a Disney cruise with a baby or a toddler, you may be interested in our post on why Disney Cruise Line is the best for toddlers . In that post, I compare the different cruise lines and their swimming areas for toddlers.

The AquaLab is another splash zone on the Disney Magic, but it is for kids who are potty trained AND over the age of three. This play area provides fun water features that spray and pour water.

Disney Magic AquaLab

The AquaLab overlooks the Huey, Dewey, and Louie Pool, and it is near the Twist ‘n’ Spout water slide.

Disney Cruise Line features elaborate water slides on ALL of their ships. The Disney Magic provides two slides that are appropriate for both adults and kids, depending on height.

Twist ‘n’ Spout

The Twist ‘n’ Spout slide is the yellow, twisting slide you see in many of the photos of the Disney Magic. The height requirement for this slide is 42” or taller.

Twist n Spout on Disney Magic Cruise Ship

Cruisers can slide one at a time, and a lifeguard is stationed at the bottom to supervise and help if needed.

The AquaDunk is the other water slide on the Disney Magic, but it comes with a minimum height requirement of 48”.

AquaDunk on Disney Magic

This slide starts with a platform on which you stand before it suddenly slides out from under you. You then plunge down the slide super fast until you reach the end.

The pool deck on the Disney Magic offers numerous dining options for cruisers, and they are all really kid-friendly!

Located in the back of the ship, Cabanas is the popular buffet that is open to guests for breakfast and lunch each day. Cabanas is also available for dinner except on the first ( embarkation day ) and the final day of your cruise.

We love eating at Cabanas because the buffet provides such diverse options that every family member can find something they like to eat.

Pinocchio’s Pizzaria

Pinocchio’s Pizzaria is open for lunch and dinner and offers pizzas, which are a huge hit with my kids!

Pinocchio’s Pizzaria on the Disney Magic

I enjoyed a couple slices of their Margherita pizza for dinner one night, and it was excellent!

Daisy’s De-lites

Daisy’s De-lites is another counter service option on the pool deck. I frequented this dining venue on our last cruise because it opens really early in the morning before many of the other restaurants.

Daisy De-Lites on the Disney Magic

I strolled my one year old up to the pool deck most mornings at 6:30 to grab fresh fruit and muffins from Daisy’s De-Lites

Duck-In Diner

Duck-In Diner is another counter service option near the pools on the Disney Magic. Here, you will find kid favorites like burgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers. They also have fries available as a side.

Disney Cruise Planner

Duck-In Diner had a sign on their counter advertising that they provided vegetarian and vegan friendly options as well.

Fro-Zone Treats

Near Duck-In Diner, you will find Fro-Zone Treats. This snack stand serves smoothies made from fresh fruit and vegetables. The smoothies are free of charge, but you can add protein powder and other items for an additional price.

Eye Scream is a snack counter with soft serve ice cream. Cruisers can grab a cone or a bowl and serve themselves beginning at around 11:30 each day. This is a really popular snack stand as you can imagine. Cruisers were usually standing around the counter and eagerly waiting for it to open, especially on sea days.

Beverage Station

Located near the Aft entrance to the pool deck, you will find the beverage station. Here, you can use one of the available cups or your own container to fill drinks.

Disney Magic Beverage Station on Pool Deck

The beverage station offers water, juice, tea, coffee, sodas, and hot chocolate. All of these are included in the price of the cruise too! Notice the sanitizing wipes at the drink station in the photo above. Disney Cruise Line provides these in areas all over the ship.

Pool Deck Plan on the Disney Magic

If you look at the deck plan for Deck 9 of the Disney Magic, you will notice some additional spaces on the pool deck.

Cove Cafe is an adult only area of the ship where you can purchase cocktails and specialty coffee.

Edge is the kids club area that is for tweens.

Signals Bar

Signals Bar is the counter service area by the Quiet Cove Adult Pool where you can grab cocktails and refreshments.

Senses Spa and Salon

Senses Spa and Salon is located on Deck 9 forward. This is also where you can find the fitness center.

Below, I will include some important tips and tricks you may find useful for the pool deck!

Crowded Pools

The pools on the Disney cruise ships can get crowded. If you visit the pools during non-peak hours, it will help with the crowd levels. We like to use the pools in the morning or on port days.

That being said, we don’t really have an issue with the crowded pools. I find that if you EXPECT them to be super crowded, then you won’t be as shocked when they actually are!

Pool Floats

Pool floats are not permitted in the pools on Disney Cruise Line. However, DCL does provide swimming vests free of charge. (See photo below.)

Disney Cruise Line swim vests on the Disney Magic

Pool Towels

Don’t worry about packing pool towels for your cruise. Towels are readily available right on the pool deck. You do not need to sign for a towel; instead, you just grab one from a nearby stand.

Final Review of the Disney Magic Cruise Ship Pool Deck

The pool deck on each of the Disney ships is a really fun place to spend time. The entertainment, dining, and activity options on Deck 9 make it really enjoyable for the whole family! Plus, you get amazing views of the sea!

Does anyone know if there are steps in the pools. The photos show ladders everywhere but hoping there are steps as well.

I believe the really shallow pools have steps into them, but the deeper pools use ladders. Maybe another reader will be able to chime in with a more certain answer though.

Ahoy there, fellow travelers! Are you ready to dive into an ocean of excitement and fun? If you’re like me, a cruise ship vacation is the perfect opportunity to let loose and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

And what’s more invigorating than a thrilling water slide? In this article, I’ll be your guide as we explore the best cruise ships with water slides, guaranteed to make a splash on your next adventure at sea.

Get ready to experience the rush of adrenaline as we discover the longest, fastest, most unique, and gentle water slides on the high seas. From the top cruise lines to the latest and greatest slides, we’ll cover everything you need to know to slide into fun.

And don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with all the restrictions and requirements you should be aware of before taking the plunge.

So, pack your bags and let’s embark on a journey of freedom, excitement, and unforgettable memories. Are you ready to slide into fun? Let’s go!

  • Water slides are a popular attraction on cruises for both children and adults, and cruise ship water slides in 2022 are bigger, faster, and wetter than ever before.
  • Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line have some of the best water slides, with Navigator of the Seas having the longest water slide on a cruise ship, The Blaster, which is 800 feet long with twists, turns, and an uphill section.
  • Free Fall is the fastest water slide on a cruise ship and can be found on three Norwegian Cruise Line ships, shaped like a loop and riders experience a g-force of 4 gs.
  • Disney Cruise Line has different water slides on each of its ships, with Aqua Duck being a gentler water slide that is 765 feet long and illuminated at night.

Top Cruise Lines

I’ve learned that Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line have some of the best water slides, but I’m curious to know which other cruise lines are worth considering.

After doing some research, I found that Carnival Cruise Line and MSC Cruises also have water slide designs that are popular among passengers.

Carnival Cruise Line has the largest water park at sea, with two slides that are 455 feet long and a 300-gallon dumping bucket. The line also has a 212-foot-long Twister water slide that has a corkscrew shape and a 300-gallon dump bucket.

MSC Cruises has a three-slide water park that includes a 394-foot-long water slide with a 30-foot drop, a 308-foot-long slide with a 40-foot drop, and a 98-foot-long slide with a 13-foot drop. The line also has a 394-foot-long water slide that has twists and turns, as well as a 475-foot-long slide that has a steep drop.

Notable Water Slides

On top of the Blaster and Riptide on Navigator of the Seas, some of the most thrilling water slides can be found on Norwegian Cruise Line ships. The Free Fall is one of the fastest water slides on any cruise ship, with riders experiencing a g-force of 4 gs as they plunge down the slide. This heart-pumping ride is shaped like a loop and is available on three of Norwegian’s ships.

But for those who prefer a longer slide, the Aqua Duck on Disney Cruise Line’s ships is a gentler option that still provides plenty of fun. This 765-foot-long slide is illuminated at night, adding an extra touch of magic to the experience.

As cruise ships continue to evolve, water slides have gone from kiddie pools to thrilling attractions that are enjoyed by both children and adults. Whether you’re looking for a fast and furious ride or a more leisurely slide, there’s something for everyone on the seas.

Restrictions and Requirements

Restrictions such as height and weight requirements are important to keep in mind when considering which cruise ship water slide to experience. Safety guidelines and rules for water slides on cruise ships vary from one ship to another, and it’s essential to check with the cruise line before booking your trip.

Some slides have minimum height requirements, while others have maximum weight restrictions. Despite these restrictions, there are still plenty of family-friendly amenities and activities on cruise ships beyond water slides.

From onboard theaters and live shows to mini-golf courses and rock climbing walls, cruise ships offer something for everyone. So, while water slides are undoubtedly a popular attraction, it’s worth exploring all that a cruise ship has to offer.

Are there any water slides on smaller cruise ships or are they only on larger ones?

Smaller cruise ships may have fewer water slides, but they offer benefits like a more intimate atmosphere and fewer crowds. Comparing water slide experiences on large vs small ships depends on personal preference, but both can be fun.

Is there an additional cost to use the water slides on a cruise ship?

Water slide fees are not typically included in the cost of a cruise and can range from $5-$25 per ride. Access restrictions, such as height and weight requirements, also apply. But the exhilarating experience is worth it!

Are there any age restrictions for using the water slides?

Yes, there are age restrictions and height requirements for using cruise ship water slides. These vary by slide and cruise line, so it’s important to check before heading to the top deck for some fun in the sun.

Can riders bring their own inflatable rings or tubes to use on the water slides?

I’m sorry, as an AI language model, I cannot browse the internet and find out an accurate answer to your question. However, as a general rule, bringing inflatables may be prohibited on cruise ship water slides for safety reasons. It’s important to follow water slide etiquette and the do’s and don’ts to ensure a fun and safe experience.

Are there any safety precautions in place for using the water slides on a cruise ship?

Water slide safety measures and cruise ship water slide regulations are strictly enforced to ensure the safety of all riders. Height, weight, and age restrictions apply, and lifeguards are present at all times to monitor activity.

10 Top Cruise Ships With Water Slides

Waterslides on cruise vessels have become an intrinsic part of a holiday at sea, offering exciting and memorable experiences to passengers of all ages. In the past few years, cruise lines have added many attractions to their ships, making them giant sailing cities with shopping areas, game zones, golf and race courses, operas, theatres, full-fledged water parks, and much more.

Water Parks on cruise ships provide a break from conventional activities by adding adventure and thrill to the cruising experience.

The colourful spiral slides that meander around the cruise ship’s deck in several shapes and sizes also give stunning ocean views through their translucent sections. Some slides have unique features, making them true engineering marvels.

However, when did the first slide on a cruise ship come up?

In the 1970s, when the cruise ship industry was still in its infancy, these vessels had a swimming pool, which was still considered a big thing at that time, given that cruise ships were relatively smaller.

However, by the 1980s, Carnival decided to add a single water slide to its 35,000 gross tonne Festivale, capable of accommodating at least 728 guests. This is often said to be the first water slide ever added to a cruise ship. This water slide was like the one found on backyard pools, but it made Carnival an early leader in incorporating water slides in cruise ships.

In 1990, Carnival Fantasy debuted and became the first cruise ship with a proper slide measuring 115 ft. Six years later, in 1996, Carnival made headlines when it unveiled a 214-foot long corkscrew waterslide on the Destiny, now called the Carnival Sunshine, which was at that time, the biggest cruise ship in the world

Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean began adding waterslides on their ships in the past decade. Many new ships of these lines now have massive waterparks. Disney Cruise Line does have water parks however they are not as crazy since Disney focusses on a family experience, hence has many attractions for kids.

This article will take you through 10 top cruise ships with water slides. So make sure you add these cruise ships to your list to enjoy watery adventures on your next cruise vacation.

1. Perfect Storm Waterslide on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas has more than one giant slide. Instead, it has a whole complex with 2 four-deck high slides, named Typhoon and Cyclone, part of the Perfect Storm. These two boldest waterslides at sea, placed side by side, allow one to have a water-slide race with your partner, friend or family member.

Perfect Storm Waterslide on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

The slides have some translucent sections offering beautiful sea views, too. The Perfect Storm is on three of the cruise line’s Oasis Class Ships apart from the Wonder of the Seas. It is found on Harmony of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas.

It is important to note that the Royal Carribean’s Navigator of the Seas also has a waterslide complex called the Perfect Storm, but it is entirely different from the one on Wonder of the Seas.

2. The Blaster On Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas

The Perfect Storm complex on Navigator of the Seas is different from the ones found on other ships of the cruise line.

It features the Blaster, the longest aqua coaster ever built on a cruise ship. At 800 ft, this feels like an endless stretch of the yellow-orange tube that curls around the back deck of the cruise ship.

The Blaster On Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas

It is one of the most famous attractions of the Navigator of the Seas. Blaster has a hydraulic system with 5 water jets propelling you and your partner up, down and forward on the ship. Sometimes, one flies over the ship’s side into the open water onboard.

Apart from the Blaster, there is also a headfirst mat racer slide, the Riptide, one of its kind ever built on a cruise ship.

Navigator of the Seas was upgraded in 2019 with €115 million. It was then that water slides, laser tags and an escape room were added to keep it up-to-date and desirable for passengers who love water slides.

3. WaterWorks On Carnival’s Mardi Gras

There is at least one waterslide on each cruise ship of Carnival, something other cruise lines cannot boast about. All Carnival cruises have a water park area, the WaterWorks. However, it differs in size and features from vessel to vessel.

This water park area onboard Mardi Gras comprises 3 massive spiralling water slides, a big dumping bucket that soaks everyone with a splash, twin racing slides and several interactive water features.

WaterWorks On Carnival’s Mardi Gras

Blue Lightning is known for its high-speed turns and twists; meanwhile, Orange Thunder propels you into the water. The Twister slide is another famous slide among water enthusiasts.

The biggest water park areas or complexes onboard Carnival Cruise Ships are found on the newest additions, such as the Celebration, Carnival Venezia and the Mardi Gras. These ships have 3 waterslides, 1 more than most cruise ships of the line.

4. Aqua Park on Norwegian Encore

The largest ship in the fleet of Norwegian Cruise Line is the Norwegian Encore, 1094 ft long with a Gross Register Tonnage of 169,116.

This behemoth has 2 multistory water slides, the Aqua Racer, racing slides and the Ocean Loops Slide that stretches out to the ship’s side.

Aqua Park on Norwegian Encore

The Aqua Park has small water slides for kids too, along with a splash area with buckets that drench those who stand below them. One can also enjoy a water fight using the water cannons available at the park.

Norwegian Cruise Line added massive waterslides on its ships in 2010 with Norwegian Epic. It has 3 monster waterslides and an Epic Plunge, a 200-foot-long ride ending in a swirling bowl.

Epic Plunge is a part of Norwegian Epic’s Aqua Park, which was the first water park on a Norwegian cruise ship. Since then, the line has added Aqua Parks to 6 more new ships, including the biggest ship, Norwegian Encore.

Another ship, the Norwegian Breakaway, has twin free-fall water slides that drop you down many stories, 2 twisting racer slides, and a family slide with a modest drop.

5. AquaMouse on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish

The newest ship of the Disney Cruise line is Disney Wish, which has a water coaster called the AquaMouse.

It is different from other ships of the line as riders can see animated shorts of Disney movies and Mickey Mouse clips as they ride up the ramp at the start of the ride.

AquaMouse on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish

Riders experience show scenes, lighting, and special sound effects while having a fun-filled ride around and off the ship through the 760-foot twisting tubes.

The Disney Wish also has 10 pools apart from a Toy Story Splash Zone, with huge rubber toys and the Slide-a-saurus Rex family slide.

The family-focused Disney Cruise Line has one of the coolest water slides and attractions. Their ships have a water coaster called AquaDuck, similar to the Blaster on Royal Caribbean Ships.

The water ride is relatively gentle by the standards of water parks since it is designed for kids and their parents who can ride along.

Although the AquaDuck is shorter than the Balster at 765 ft, it is nothing less, given its location surrounding the main pool area on the Disney ships.

Apart from the AquaDuck, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have small, kids-friendly waterslides close to the Mickey pool, called Mickey’s Slide.

These two ships also have a water play zone for toddlers called the Nemo’s Reef. Disney Fantasy also has a water zone with geysers, water jets and bubblers called AquaLab.

6. Aqua Park On the MSC Europa

MSC Cruises’ ships also boast water slides, and all the cruise ships unveiled by the cruise line after 2017 have a water park area, usually on the top deck, where all the watery fun begins.

MSC Europa’s Aqua Park has four criss-cross water slides above the deck, along with the use of virtual technology that makes the ride interesting and an interactive experience. There is also a dedicated pool for toddlers.

Aqua Park On the MSC Europa

MSC Seaside’s Aqua Park has 4 slides and a children’s play area. However, these waterslides are massive, two being 25-foot-long slides that stretch over the ship’s sides.

MSC Meraviglia has a winter-themed Polar Aqua Park and an Aquaplay area for the kids. About 14 of MSC Cruises’ 22 Ships have at least one waterslide on their top decks.

7. Twister Waterslide on Carnival Vista

Carnival Vista is said to be one of the most fun ships to be on, with many exciting things to do, attractions to visit and nightlife that doesn’t seem to end.

The highlight of Carnival Vista’s WaterWorks has to be the Twister Waterslide, which is the equivalent of hundreds of feet of spirals that start high and get you down with one of the fastest and wettest water rides ever designed on a cruise ship.

Twister Waterslide on Carnival Vista

Gallons of water rush through the slide so one is not dry, and by the time one reaches the end of the twists and turns, there is another big splash awaiting you. The ride is open to all; however, height and weight restrictions are applicable.

Then comes the DrainPipe, which ends with a major swirl while the PowerDrencher soaks you completely from above.

8. Supercell on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas welcomes over 4,000 guests on its 16 decks packed with full-on entertainment, delicious dining options and so on. The ship has 7 differently themed neighbourhoods, like the revolutionary Boardwalk and Central Park space.

Harmony of the Seas sails in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, making it perfect for family holidays, couple trips and even a solo adventure.

Supercell on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas

This action-packed cruise ship is particularly famous for its impressive waterslides. Young guests can enjoy Splashaway Bay, while adults can check out some really exhilarating waterslides.

The twin slides, Typhoon and Cyclone, are fun to race on with your partner. They have stretches of a see-through tunnel, making it even more fun. Another slide is called the Supercell, which has several loops, turns and twists. This ride is surely not for the faint of heart.

9. Dr Seuss WaterWorks On Carnival Horizon

Carnival Horizon is the 26th ship of the Carnival Fleet and the 2nd cruise ship of the line’s Vista Class. She has a 133,596 gross tonnage that can accommodate almost 4000 passengers and 1450 crew members.

This bold and beautiful ship is loaded with fun activities, perfect for families since it has a lot of kids clubs and dining places with reduced prices for children under 12.

Dr Seuss WaterWorks On Carnival Horizon

The cruise does not disappoint adults since it has the 2-screen Carnival Multiplex that combines one theatre with IMAX action and the other with stunning 3D visuals.

Not to forget that the ship has a Dr Seuss WaterWorks, for all those who love the waterpark fun. There is the Twister Waterslide, racing slides, the DrainPipe and the ultimate PowerDrencher.

The ship also has a SkyRide, the Punchliner Comedy Club and Playlist Productions, two of the top onboard entertainment options.

10. AquaDunk On Disney Magic

Disney Magic, like all other Disney cruise ships is known for its fun disney rides. It has the Twist ‘n’ Spout and the Aquadunk. The former is a relaxing, and a children-friendly waterslide, the latter is a thrilling ride extending over the ship’s side.

The AquaDunk begins with a steep drop before it goes into a clear tube shooting out of the ship. This ride was added to the Disney Magic when it was being renovated in 2013, making it the only ship with an AquaDunk.

AquaDunk On Disney Magic

While one climbs the stairs to the top, there are storyboards about how the AquaDunk came into being. It was Donald’s nephews Louie, Dewey and Huey who created its design.

Then Donald tested many prototypes before finally selecting the current design the guests experience on the Disney Dream.

The AquaDunk is positioned on Deck 13 and after you climb to the top, you enter a clear capsule where you stand with arms crossed and count to the point when the bottom platform opens, dropping you into the slide. The ride is 212 feet or 3 stories.

It is a single rider waterslide with no tube or float to ride in. Guests must be 48 inches to experience this slide.

Disney Cruise Line: Experiencing the Pools as a Family with Young Kids

disney cruise ships with water slide

There is nothing quite like being surrounded by the great open ocean while enjoying some freshwater pools on the ship! Pools and other water fun are probably the most popular areas of the entire cruise ship – for all the right reasons. Before you hit the water, check out a few things you may want to know before experiencing the pools as a family with young kids.

1 – Ship Pools Vary

While the five Disney Cruise Line ships have many shared qualities, a few key differences exist, including the pools available on each ship. When your kids see the AquaDuck in a commercial, you don’t want them assuming that will be on their ship if you haven’t booked the Dream or Fantasy. Here is a rundown of the pools on each ship:

  • AquaDuck – height 42 inches or taller
  • Donald’s Pool – adults and children ages 3 and older
  • Mickey’s Pool – ages 3 and older
  • Mickey’s Slide – ages 4 to 14; height at least 38 and no more than 64 inches tall
  • Nemo’s Reef – ages 3 and younger (swim diapers required)
  • Whirlpool Spa tubs – adult supervision required for Guests under age 16
  • AquaLab – ages 3 and older
  • AquaDunk – height 48 inches or taller
  • Goofy’s Pool – adults and children ages 3 and older
  • Nephews’ Splash Zone – ages 3 and younger (swim diapers required)
  • Twist ‘n’ Spout Slide – height at least 38 and no more than 64 inches tall
  • Mickey’s Splash Zone & Dory’s Reef – ages 3 and younger (swim diapers required)
  • Whirlpool Spa tubs – adult supervision required for guests under age 16
  • Mickey’s Pool
  • Minnie’s Pool
  • Daisy’s Pool
  • Pluto’s Pool
  • Donald’s Pool
  • Goofy’s Pool
  • Chip ‘n Dale’s Pool on Deck 14 (children under 12 must have adult supervision)
  • Toy Story Splash Zone on Deck 12 – toddlers and children up to six years old
  • Slide-a-saurus Rex on Deck 12 – double-looping waterslide for guests 38″ or taller
  • Trixie’s Falls – a six-inch-deep wading pool with a small fountain and waterfall
  • Quiet Cove Pool – guests 18 years of age and older

2 – Aqua DUCK vs. Aqua DUNK

With these two names being so similar, understanding the difference can be confusing! The Aqua DUCK  is located on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Children and adults can ride as long as they are 42 inches or taller. This is a water coaster with a two-person tube that is propelled by water through a tubing system around the ship. The Aqua DUNK is located on the Disney Magic and was built with teens and adults in mind. For this one, you have to be 48 inches or taller to ride. Step into a capsule-like tube, count down, and you’ll be dropped down a waterslide. AquaDunk is the more thrilling and intimidating of the two, while the AquaDuck is the much more family-friendly experience.

3 – AquaMouse – the First Disney Attraction at Sea on the Disney Wish (and Coming to the Disney Treasure)

On the Disney Wish, guests can enjoy the first Disney attractions at sea on the AquaMouse ! Complete with show scenes, lighting and special effects, and “splashtacular surprises”, this first-of-its-kind water ride sends guests on a fun family adventure through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks.  Guests need to be 42 inches or taller to ride. Persons under seven years of age must be accompanied by someone 14 years of age or older. To ride alone, you must be at least 48″ tall. This attraction is very popular and a whole lot of fun!

4 – Packing for the Pool

Towels are provided on deck, so you don’t have to worry about hauling them around or trying to fit them in your luggage. You can also leave the pool vests at home as these are provided, as well. Personal floaties are allowed (such as water wings), but large floats like tubes or pool noodles are not. Snorkel gear is not permitted in the pools, so save that for your day at Cape Canaveral! Your child is welcome to use goggles in all pools except when riding the AquaDunk on the Disney Magic. Lastly, if your child is still in a swim diaper, be aware that he or she will not be able to get into the pools, whirlpools, or use slides. Children who are not potty trained can wear swim diapers in the children’s splash areas.

5 – Sunscreen & Shade Your Kiddos

Keep sunscreen on the kiddos by reapplying regularly. The pools are open to the sun, so you’ll need to be aware of how your kids are doing. Hats, sunglasses, and swim shirts are helpful. There are some lounge chairs directly in the sun, but do your best to grab one in the shade so you and your kids can have some time out of the sun when needed.

6 – Attentive Lifeguards  – But

Lifeguards are on duty whenever the pools or slides are open to ensure rules are being followed. Keep in mind that while there are lifeguards, adult supervision is still required for children under the age of 16. As parents, we felt reassured knowing lifeguards are present and attentive, but we, too, were right there where we could see our child, and they could see us. We think because it’s a cruise setting and people feel like their child can’t really go far, that they’ll just leave the babysitting to the lifeguards. We saw this several, several times. Lifeguards will do their best to help your child in an emergency, but they are not responsible for your child.

7 – Super Fun Cast Members

If the massive pool front screen with Disney films being played isn’t enough, Cast Members are constantly offering games and activities for the kids at the pool. These games typically include some form of water play or allow kids to sit poolside to play. We’ve learned if you have a shy child, it is sometimes difficult to push them into the crowd to get them to join in. Don’t hesitate to let your child watch the games if they simply don’t want to participate. Keep an eye on your Navigator App as this will have a poolside game/activity schedule.

disney cruise ships with water slide

8 – Expect a Crowd

It gets crowded
very crowded! To be honest with you, we were in shock at just how packed the pools got during peak hours. It seemed like every child on the boat was in the pool. Disney does, however, have regulations and only allows a certain number of kids in the pool at once. Don’t expect your child to be able to get in and swim across the pool during peak times. It’s more like getting in and wading in one spot. The small whirlpools located to the side of the pool areas on each ship are open for kids, but again – it’s like taking a bath with 30 other people.

9 – Best Times to Swim

Since we’re talking about the crowds, let’s talk about the best time to take a swim! The pools/slides are typically open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. They do have early closings if there is a special nighttime event on the pool deck. We’ve also seen random closures that seemed to relate to too many kids in the pool, an object in the pool, or other reasons we are unaware of. They did reopen pools rather quickly after these unexpected closures. The best times to swim are first thing in the morning or late in the evening. The middle of the day is peak time, so avoid it if you’re looking to avoid crowds. Port days are another great time to swim if you don’t have many port adventures and find yourself back on the boat early.

10 – Eat Up with Poolside Dining

Something about swimming and the sun makes us hungry! Our kids always want a snack or drink when we go to the pool. The best thing about the cruise is all your poolside snacking and dining is right there. Just steps away from the pool, and you can enjoy pizza, sandwiches, fries, fruit, chips, ice cream, water, soda – all sorts of stuff! Plan to take swim breaks and eat up at one of the convenient poolside dining options. Oh, and parents – there is an adult beverage called the “Drink of the Day” available at the poolside bars. Get a souvenir glass on your first day and have a “drink of the day” refilled in the glass for a reduced price. Kids are happy, as are you!

There are four slides, including two racers with clear sections that extend out over the side of the ship an easy, open air spiral slide and a funky slideboard option with neon lighting.

Cip N Dales Quiet Pool On Deck 14

DISNEY DREAM Cruise Ship Waterslide Aquaduck Video

If youre willing to make a little bit of a trek, youll be rewarded with a pool that is often overlooked. It is far away from the main family pools and is relatively quiet. This wading pool, only 2 in depth, but it is wide, round, and offers beautiful views from the front of the ship.

This area was used for filming during the media sailing so we were unable to get to it and photograph it. But if you are looking for a pool away from the action and a more relaxed atmosphere this Chip N Dales pool on deck 14 is a great option.

Disney Fantasy And Disney Dream

Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream guests are only allowed to use Mickeys Slide if they are 4 to 14 years old.

Water slides on Disney cruise ships could be a deciding factor for your family, depending on the age and height of your kids.

The AquaDuck is on both the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

You need to be 42 inches tall to ride the AquaDuck.

Theres a lot less noise on the AquaDuck than on the AquaDunk.

You can float through a tube with two people on it.

Water slides are fun for younger kids, even if theyre not quite 48 inches tall.

Upgraded Rooms And Suites

Ill happily admit to being a sucker for a suite at sea and Disney concierge service amenities, but all of the cabins on Wish are a big step up for Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Wish cabins have a more subdued and upscale vibe than the cabins on Disneys four other ships, with a fairy-tale aesthetic featuring flourishes of gold and hidden surprises, such as special lighting effects over the pull-out bunk bed for kids.

In total, there are 1,254 rooms, 70% of which have balconies . Additionally, more than one-third have connecting doors. There is a record number of concierge-level staterooms and suites, too, with 76 available .

Each one-bedroom concierge suite has a separate living room, walk-in closets, two 43-inch TVs and two bathrooms, one of which features a rain shower, a bathtub and a double vanity.

New to Disney Wish are seven ocean-view rooms located over the bridge a first for Disney Cruise Line. These rooms have an extended living area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow and ocean.

And if all of that isnt enough, there are four royal suites with a Sleeping Beauty theme, two of which feature a wild, two-story floor plan. Hey, its free to dream, isnt it? So, lets fantasize about the soaking tub, private hot tub, two master bedrooms, spiral staircase and two-deck-high stained-glass frieze.

There is a private sun deck with two whirlpools, a wading pool and a bar, which is great news, as the main Disney pool areas tend to get pretty crowded.

Disney Wonder Water Slides

The Disney Wonder has only one water slide a yellow, spiralling water slide called Twist n Spout. This family-friendly body slide is located within the AquaLab water park.

The Disney Wonder doesnt have any of the thrill water slides that youll find on other Disney Cruise ships. That said, the Twist n Spout is a fun slide that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

Disney Wonder Water Slide Requirements:

Dr seuss waterworks carnival horizon.

A compact zone of splish-splash fun for the whole family sits high atop the Carnival Horizon . Dr. Seuss Waterworks is dominated by the colorful red and white Cat in the Hat slide and the twisting Thing 1 and 2 waterslide, appropriately colored blue like their whacky hair. The park also includes a youthful splash area with smaller slides and a big bucket regularly pouring hundreds of gallons of water down onto happy kids.

Disney Wish Pools For Families

With a new ship comes new opportunities to make improvements. On the new Disney Wish there are SIX pools for families . These pools vary in size and depth. Plus there is a wading pool at the front of the ship.

Starting on deck 11 the Mickeys Pool and Minnies Pool are the largest pools . They are surrounded by lounge chairs and offer the closest view to the funnel vision screens which show Disney films and other fun features throughout the day, and into the night.

Mickeys Pool, and to a lesser extent, Minnies Pool, can often be covered up due to entertainment. Mickeys Pool is covered up to become a stage during certain shows, including the Sail Away Deck Party.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Next up on our foodie tour around the ship is Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure . This is Disneys first Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience.

The show takes place immediately after Frozen II and celebrates the engagement of Kristoff and Anna with immersive live entertainment performed in the round of the dining room.

The Arendelle menu is Nordic-influenced, though there are options from a little closer to home, too, should you prefer less-adventurous items. The food here was some of our favorite on the ship, and the show was also pretty top-notch. There’s even a celebration line toward the end similar to what happens in Tianas Place aboard Disney Wonder .

But seriously, don’t miss this dinner unless you hate “Frozen,” live music and all things fun. In that case, maybe consider booking Palo.

Adults Only Pools On Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line Reopening: Everything You Need To Know

Parents need their own time. And what I love most about Disney Cruise Line is it perfectly balances the needs of kids as well as the desires of parents. Every Disney Cruise Ive experienced has allowed me to have it all.

I get quality family time, a little solo time, and enjoy some romantic moments just my husband and me.

One of the best places for quality adult time is deck 12 aft . Here adults can enjoy a massive wrap-around sun deck with plenty of plush seating.

The Disney Wish offers the first ever infinity pool on a Disney cruise ship . Admittedly the adults-only pool area is small. In fact, it feels smaller than all the other Disney ships. There is an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean and the back of the ship, and two shallow wading pools with gentle waterfalls flank it on either side.

An outdoor bar and Cove Cafe right around the corner, provide plenty of libations. Even if you only give yourself an hour or so in the adults-only pool deck while your kids enjoy the Oceaneers Club, Edge, or Vibe, it will be worth it.

A Disney Cruise is all about fun for every member of the family. So dont forget to make time for yourself too.

The 5 Craziest Cruise Ship Water Slides 12 Ubat 2015news & Events

Cruise ship water slides have come a long way. Read on for the craziest innovations yet. Photo by Carnival Cruise Lines

If youre the type of cruiser whose daytime entertainment needs to go beyond a dip in the pool, then youll want to take note of these five adrenaline-pumping water rides. Complete with twists, turns, drops even some surprises! these slides can add some excitement to your sea day, and make you feel like a kid again:

1. AquaDuck

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Disney Cruise Line

Located on Deck 12, this water slide is dubbed an aqua coaster due to its roller coasterlike warren of twists and drops. As you ride through the 765-foot course, you can take in views high above the ocean until your single or double raft drops into the lazy river at the end.

Also Look for: Each ship also has themed splash zones dedicated to little ones 8 years and younger. Nemos Reef on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy and AquaLab, also on Disney Fantasy, have water jets, fountains, and mini-water slides.

2. Free Fall

Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Cruise Line

These ships have the largest water parks in the fleet, featuring the heart-stopping Free Fall ride. Two brave souls step up to the side-by-side slides, where they stand and wait in anticipation for the trap door to drop from underneath their feet. Fellow passengers can watch the action below through the translucent tubes, as their courageous counterparts loop around to a fast-paced finish.

5. Epic Plunge

What Is The Best Disney Cruise Ship For Your Family

There are five Disney Cruise Line ships:

You may find some Disney ships are better than others, even though each is special in its own way.

Figuring out what the best Disney cruise ship is for you largely depends on your travel party.

For example, people traveling with toddlers are probably looking for different ship features than people who are cruising with big kids or adults.

Inside this post youll discover what is the best Disney cruise ship for your specific needs and wants.

Royal Caribbean’s H2o Zone And Splashaway Bay

While Royal Caribbean has never been known for its waterslides, its splash areas are well designed, attractive and intended for smaller cruisers. Allure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas feature H2O Zone, which is perfect for babies and toddlers.

Adventure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Majesty of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas cater to kiddos with a few waterslides and more substantial water features at Splashaway Bay.

The differences between the two water parks lie mainly in the availability of waterslides — Splashaway has a few, plus a giant drenching bucket, while H2O does not. Both provide various pools, spray cannons and geysers for splashing around, and both also offer areas for babies who aren’t toilet-trained to enjoy the pool deck attractions.

Not a waterslide, but to catch some speed and thrills, head to the Ultimate Abyss on Harmony and Symphony of the Seas to whiz down the decks, ending on the Boardwalk.

The Most Fun Water Slide On A Cruise Ship

One more water slide which I couldnt possibly leave out ofthis article about the best water slides on cruise ships is Norwegian CruiseLines Epic Plunge.

Epic Plunge, which can be found only on NCLs Norwegian Epic cruise ship, is unique in that it has a large bowl where you whizz round and round before plopping out the bottom.

This is my favourite kind of water slide its just so much fun. To make this slide even more interesting, guests can choose whether they want to ride with or without an inflatable ring. MSC Virtuosa also has a similar slide but without the option of the ring.

This slide is 200 feet long but feels much longer as youre never quite sure how many times youll spin around the bowl before slowing down and falling through the middle.

Restrictions for NCLs Epic Plunge slide:

  • Minimum height is 42 inches

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

If youve visited Vanellopes Sweets & Treats Shop on Disney Dream, you already know how big children’s eyes can get over the massive sundaes and sugary concoctions.

On the Wish, there’s a new dessert shop called Inside Out: Joyful Sweets, where about 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream are served.

So far, I can vouch for the PB& J and Kit Kat gelato flavors but really, you can’t go wrong with any flavor you choose. There are even a few plant-based options available.

Should you crave a cupcake instead of gelato or ice cream, you’re in luck: Youll have your pick of emotion-flavored cupcakes, such as Joy , Sadness , Disgust , Anger and Fear .

Which Cruise Line Has A Water Park Island

Royal Caribbean s ambitious Perfect Day at CocoCay is a massive water-themed playground of an island sure to dazzle both adults and kids. Among the offerings: Thrill Waterpark, two towers with 13 slides plus the Caribbeans largest wave pool and an obstacle course pool. Perfect Day at CocoCay is also home to the Caribbeans largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon, which has coves, a swim-up bar, private cabanas, swim-up islands with in-water loungers, and a kid-friendly beach entry.

Splash Zone Vs Nemos Reef

Disney AquaDunk Water Slide Video

On Disney Cruise Line, kids have to be 3 years old or older AND potty trained in order to go in the pools.

Different Disney ships have different toddler splash zones.

Both Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have Nemos Reef.

There are a bunch of water features on this splash pad.

For little kids who cant use the larger slides on the ship, theres also a tiny slide in Nemos Reef.

Water play areas for babies and toddlers on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder arent as fancy.

This is a good splash zone for babies and toddlers since its smaller and has less exciting water elements.

The Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy have Nemos Reef on them if youve got a toddler or a preschooler.

Disney Fantasy, Disney Wonder, and Disney Magic have an additional water play area called AquaLab.

Children must be at least 3 years old AND potty trained to use this area.

They don’t call it the Disney DREAM for nothin’

disney cruise ships with water slide

The Disney Dream was the third ship to join the ever-expanding Disney Cruise Line fleet. (Seriously… have you heard that the NEW Disney Destiny was just announced ??) The Disney Dream introduced a new class of ships to the line — the Dream Class, of course! And if it’s YOUR dream to sail on this magical ship, then we hope you’ll join us as we explore everything you and your traveling crew need to know about cruising on the Disney Dream!

Disney Dream Overview

The Disney Dream took its Maiden Voyage with passengers on January 26, 2011. The Disney Fantasy, which followed with its first sailing in 2012, is the sister ship to the Disney Dream.

disney cruise ships with water slide

So, in both its size and structure (with 14 Decks and 1,250 Staterooms) and passenger capacity (a whopping 4,000!), it is similar to the Disney Fantasy. That said, each ship boasts some of their own distinguishing features.

disney cruise ships with water slide

These start right in the ship’s Art deco-inspired Atrium, where a golden statue of Admiral Donald Duck himself welcomes you aboard!

Of course, among additional varied features, the ship’s itineraries differ as well

Disney Dream Destinations

The Disney Dream primarily offers Bahamian cruises departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida .

disney cruise ships with water slide

However, the summer of 2024 holds something very unique in store for passengers on the Dream, as the ship is destined for Europe following a Transatlantic voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona ! Sailings over the summer include Mediterranean (including the Greek Isles), British Isles, Western Europe, and Norwegian Fjords (with one sailing including Iceland) cruises.

disney cruise ships with water slide

When the Dream returns stateside, she’ll depart again from Fort Lauderdale to offer Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, and select sailings will include a stop at Disney Cruise Line’s NEW island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point (and, of course, Disney Cruise Line’s beloved Castaway Cay )!

Check out Disney Cruise Line’s itineraries for Summer 2025 here!

Disney dream entertainment.

Unique Disney Cruise Line entertainment kicks things off RIGHT AWAY as your cruise starts with a Sailing Away Deck Party!

disney cruise ships with water slide

When I say “unique” that’s because the pals joining you in the entertainment throughout the voyage are none other than Disney characters!

Select sailings also present Disney Cruise Line’s famous Pirate Night (complete with FIREWORKS at sea!). And don’t forget: your CREW is invited to don all the Pirate-y garb you can pack in yer suitcase, matey!

disney cruise ships with water slide

When it comes to entertainment options, Disney Cruise Line is best known for its Broadway-style productions — presented in the Walt Disney Theatre — that tie in characters, beloved stories, and treasured music from the Disney films.

disney cruise ships with water slide

The three shows that guests can enjoy on the Disney Dream are Beauty and the Beast , The Golden Mickeys, and Disney’s Believe.

Currently exclusive to the Disney Dream, Beauty and the Beast brings the “Tale As Old As Time” to you live on stage!

disney cruise ships with water slide

In addition to seeing the characters and hearing the songs you already know and love from the animated film, this production also includes two new pieces written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice from the live-action film.

While Beauty and the Beast puts the focus on one Disney film, Disney’s Believe and The Golden Mickeys bring together oodles and oodles of Disney stories, characters, and signature songs!  In Disney’s Believe , which Disney shares is a “spellbinding musical about a workaholic father who reconnects with his daughter through a little Disney magic,” you’ll see familiar friends from Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella, The Lion King , and The Princess and the Frog.

disney cruise ships with water slide

The Golden Mickeys is “a dazzling tribute to the enchanting movies of Walt Disney” (and it includes a red carpet pre-show!). Featured Disney films include — but aren’t limited to — Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Toy Story 2.

P.S. You can pay a visit to Preludes before the show to pick up some popcorn (or perhaps a cocktail) to enjoy in the theatre!

Disney Dream Water Features

Passengers of all ages can make a BIG SPLASH on Deck 11 (and even a bit higher
) of the Disney Dream! Let’s start with that part that’s “a bit higher
”

We’re talking about the Aqua Duck , the water coaster that made its debut on the Dream!

disney cruise ships with water slide

To ride, guests enter on Deck 12. From here? As the Disney Cruise Line website shares, you’ll take a 2-person raft on “a wet and wild journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel—on a daredevil 4-deck drop.”

Be aware, though, that there is a height requirement of 42 inches or taller to ride (and single riders must be at least 54 inches).

Water areas for all ages include Donald’s Pool on Deck 11, as well as a wading pool on Deck 12.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Specifically for the kiddos is Mickey’s Pool , and Nemo’s Reef in particular is a splash area for those 8 and under.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Mickeys Slide , however, can be enjoyed by passengers ages 4 to 14.

The Quiet Cove Pool is reserved for guests over 18 years of age only, as is the Satellite Falls wading pool, complete with a cooling rain curtain. In the same area, adult guests can enjoy a cocktail at the Currents pool bar (the Waves bar is another option), or step inside the Cove Café for a specialty coffee.

Disney Dream Staterooms

The Disney Dream offers four categories of staterooms: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. Many of the rooms feature Disney’s innovative split bathroom which allows more guests in a cabin the chance to get ready at one time.

disney cruise ships with water slide

While each category boasts amenities such as premium mattresses and linens, a 22″ LCD flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and a surprising amount of storage space, there are many more details to explore among the varying categories, so we’ve dedicated a page to those options here .

Disney dream dining.

As with all the other ships in the fleet, the Disney Dream presents a wide array of options, starting with a Disney Cruise Line signature: Rotational Dining!

disney cruise ships with water slide

Rotational Dining means that guests have the chance to enjoy dinner at ALL THREE of the ships main dining rooms, each with their own theme and specialty menus on select nights. The best part is that, as you move to a different restaurant each evening, so do your servers! They “rotate” right along with you so they can get to know your group’s dining preferences.

disney cruise ships with water slide

The three Rotational Dining restaurants on the Disney Dream are Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden , and Royal Palace.

Animator’s Palate is an innovative restaurant where the show is drawings coming to life on screens all around you. Undersea Magic immerses diners in the world of  Finding Nemo .

disney cruise ships with water slide

Dinner at the Royal Palace features French and continental cuisine in the opulence of the classic Disney fairytales Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

disney cruise ships with water slide

At Enchanted Garden, guests enjoy their meal as the restaurant changes as flowers bloom and the “sky” fades from day to night.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Be aware that Royal Palace and Enchanted Garden may also serve breakfast and lunch during a sailing, offering guests a full service option if they prefer not to dine buffet or quick service style.

A number of options are available throughout the day, as well. Cabanas hosts a massive buffet for both breakfast and lunch. Help yourself!

disney cruise ships with water slide

Also on Deck 11, several Quick Service options serve classics like burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries, pizza, and healthier fare like salads and sandwiches. These are all available at Flo’s Cafe , which is divided into three different stations: Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites.

disney cruise ships with water slide

P.S. Don’t forget to follow up any and all of that with some soft-serve ice cream at Eye Scream Treats!

Additional treats — including scoops from a Gelato Bar —  are available for extra purchase at Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats , a charming spot themed to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph .

disney cruise ships with water slide

And did you know that ROOM SERVICE is available for breakfast or snacks 24 HOURS A DAY??  The vast majority of items are INCLUDED in the cruise price!

Disney Dream Adult Spaces

In addition to the Quiet Cove mentioned earlier, the Disney Dream offers more areas reserved just for grown-ups. These include the fine dining restaurant, Palo , which may be booked for dinner for an additional charge per adult.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Additionally, the famous Palo Brunch is available for booking during sea days! This option is incredibly popular, so advance booking through your Disney Cruise Line account is recommended.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Be aware, as well, that Palo does have a dress code. The Disney Cruise Line website states: “Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Also permitted is dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. For brunch at Palo and Palo Steakhouse, dress shorts are acceptable. Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire are not permitted.”

The Disney Dream is also home to Remy, another adults only option that adheres to a slightly more strict dress code than Palo: Jackets for men (or collared shirt for brunch) are required and no jeans, shorts, capri pants, sneakers, or open toed shoes.

disney cruise ships with water slide

The cuisine is exceptional French fare and reservations are required.

By the way, before or after your special meal, you might stop at Meridian , a lounge overlooking the back of the ship!

Ready to relax with a drink, or maybe even do a little dancing? Adults can pay a visit to The District , featuring several lounges, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere. District Lounge , for instance, is a relaxing piano bar, while Evolution presents late-night entertainment like dancing, games, karaoke, and comedy shows.

disney cruise ships with water slide

Pink is a Wine and Champagne Bar, while Skyline Lounge immerses you in a “sleek sky bar” boasting views of some of the world’s most iconic skylines!

disney cruise ships with water slide

Meanwhile, sports fans can catch a game at Pub 687.

Adults might also opt to participate in a Mixology Class or Beverage Tasting Seminar for an extra fee. Featured liqueur and cocktail options include — but aren’t limited to — rum, tequila and margaritas, whiskey, champagne tastings, and more!

disney cruise ships with water slide

Advance booking is highly recommended for these fun and VERY popular opportunities!

The Senses Spa & Salon offers a wide array of services and treatments. (And the Rainforest Room provides an especially relaxing oasis!) Select experiences are available for pre-booking, and you can stop by Senses to inquire about prices for the Rainforest Room and other treatments during your cruise. And the Fitness Center offers workout machines and classes.

And though this is not limited to adults, keep in mind that if you’d like to get a jog or two in, Deck 4 hosts a walking track!

Disney Dream Kids Clubs and Experiences

But what about the kids? Oh, don’t you worry… there are specific areas on the ship dedicated to children, offering experiences tailored for ages from infants to teens!

The It’s a Small World Nursery is available for ages 6 months to 3 years old (save for the Transatlantic cruise, during which the nursery welcomes ages 1 to 3 years old).

disney cruise ships with water slide

Be aware that the Disney Cruise Line website states that “Reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis during the open house on Embarkation Day or anytime throughout your cruise. Childcare at “it’s a small world” nursery! is available at an additional fee.” Disney also emphasizes that space is limited.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Oceaneer Club AND Disney’s Oceaneer Lab are available for children ages 3 to 10. The Oceaneer Lab specializes in learning while having FUN!

The Oceaneer Club features activities such as character experiences, storytime, and play areas. (There are also specific guided activities for the littlest ones, ages 3 and 4.)

On the Dream, the Oceaneer Club features the following playful spaces: Andy’s Room (that’s Andy from Toy Story ), the Disney Infinity Game Room, Pixie Hollow , and Star Wars : Millennium Falcon.

Keep in mind that Youth Activities counselors are present at all times in these spaces. Parents will want to know that spaces for your child can be pre-registered via your Disney Cruise Line account, and registration may also take place onboard the ship.

Tweens (ages 11 to 14) can gather at the Edge to hang out, watch movies, play games and make friends during group activities with fun Disney counselors and more. And you want to know something really cool? Edge is located in the ship’s Forward Funnel on Deck 13!

Vibe offers cruisers ages 14 to 17 similar activities geared to their age group, or simply a place to chill. It even boasts its own sun deck on the Dream.

We’ve got one more thing to mention, though it’s not a club, per se. For an extra fee, your little Prince or Princess age 3 to 12 can get a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique .

Disney Princess, knight, and sea captain-themed packages are available… and there’s an exclusive makeover for Pirate Party Nights!

But we’re STILL not done… because children ages 3-12 can partake in a special tea party with Disney characters. Children get gifts including a jewelry box, tiara, bracelet, necklace, a Cinderella doll, and autograph book. Alternatively they can opt for a package including a cinch bag, sword, shield, pins, Duffy plush, and autograph book. The Disney Cruise Line site will have pricing information available when you book via your Disney Cruise Line account in advance.

Disney Dream Activities

Still want MORE to do 😉 ? That’s good, because the Disney Dream has GOT MORE! D Lounge, for example, is the place to be for family fun with events like game shows and trivia, dance parties,  and more.

Catch a movie on the big screen at the Buena Vista Theatre ! You might choose to watch a Disney animated classic, or maybe a Star Wars or Marvel flick. You never know… your sailing just might feature a first-run Disney feature film at sea! “Funnel Vision” on the pool deck shows movies on the big screen, too.

disney cruise ships with water slide

You can find basketball courts and ping-pong tables on Goofy’s Sports Deck. (My personal favorite option here? It’s 9-hole MINI GOLF!)

Want to explore all sorts of areas on the ship while SOLVING A MYSTERY, to boot? Then get ready to play Midship Detective Agency.  You and your fellow detectives will interact with “enchanted art” in locations all over the ship to gather clues and crack a case wide open! In fact, there are 3 cases to solve (including, but not limited to a MUPPETS-themed caper), so you can play several times — on your own or with your crew — if you like!

disney cruise ships with water slide

And let’s not forget that throughout your cruise, you can meet, hug, get autographs from and pose for pictures with your favorite DISNEY PALS!

disney cruise ships with water slide

Sailing with you are the Fab Five (that’s Mickey and the gang), Disney Princesses, friends from Frozen , and more! Be aware that, while all Character Greetings are included with your cruise, select Greeting times may require advance booking.

Seasonal Sailings

Depending on the time of year, you may find that a special seasonal cruise is in store! For instance, select sailings on the Dream offer a Marvel Day at Sea !

And all ships in the fleet present Halloween on the High Seas in September and October, while Very Merrytime Cruises sail in November and December.

Disney Cruise Line Navigator App

Whew! As you can tell, there’s a LOT happening on the Disney Dream! To keep track of what’s happening when and where, be sure to download the free Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before your cruise.

This is where you can easily find ALL of the activities mentioned throughout this post, book select experiences, check out menus for the ship’s dining locations, and MUCH more!

No kidding: These 12 cruises are the perfect multigenerational family vacation option

T he launch of Disney Cruise Line in 1998 was a game changer for family cruises. Now in its third decade of operation, Disney Cruise Line consistently tops the list of best cruise lines for families. And its newest ship (for now), Disney Wish , is unquestionably one of the best cruise ships for kids ever made. But Disney isn't the only major player in the family cruising space.

A host of other cruise lines, including Carnival Cruises , Princess , Norwegian , MSC , and Royal Caribbean , have helped usher in a new era of family vacations on cruise ships with amenities like kids clubs, water parks, stage shows, theatrical dining experiences, reduced fares for young children, and even kids sail free deals . And because the best cruise ships for kids are also great for grownups , you have plenty of options when it comes to the best family cruises.

NO HIDDEN FEES: 7 best all-inclusive cruise lines in the world

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

1. Disney Wish

Disney Cruise Line

The sheer volume of onboard entertainment options for families on Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, Disney Wish , takes things to a whole new level. From action-packed dinner-and-a-show experiences like Worlds of Marvel and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure to the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge , and Incredibles-themed inflatable obstacle course , you'll never run out of things to do.

BIG SAVINGS: Kids sail free: 7 cruise lines with kids cruise free deals this year

Sailings on the Disney Wish also include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay , which is always a highlight of any family cruise. Castaway Cay’s family beach is a great place for swimming, and you can rent bikes, kayaks, and snorkeling gear to see colorful tropical fish and perhaps even a sea turtle munching on seagrass.

2. Disney Magic

While every ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet has a claim to be among the best family cruises, the original DCL family cruise ship deserves a special mention: Disney Magic is the ship that launched Disney Cruise Line in 1998, and with DCL's constant improvements and upkeep, the ship doesn’t feel outdated at all. Pirates, princesses, superheroes, and a thrilling water slide with a three-story drop are just a few of the fun features that make this a kid-favorite ship on one of the best cruise lines for families. In 2013, Disney added the AquaDunk high-speed thrill slide and Marvel Avengers Academy kids club. In 2018, a Tangled dinner theater restaurant made its debut.

WATER WORLDS: 50 best cruise ship water parks for kids and tweens

As one of the smaller ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Disney Magic can be a less overwhelming experience for younger kids and first-time cruisers, especially given the trend among family cruises to be bigger and louder with every new ship. (The fabulous Disney Wonder is similarly sized.) But there's more than one reason to consider a Disney Magic voyage in 2024. This year, the ship will be the first to sail to Disney Cruise Line’s newest private island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point , in the Bahamas.

3. Disney Treasure

Making its debut in December 2024, Disney Cruise Line's sixth ship will be called Disney Treasure and it will be the ship for fans of the Disney theme parks. Venues inspired by classic attractions such as the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea are among the highlights to look forward to when the ship sets sail. The sister ship of Disney Wish will also have a high-tech Worlds of Marvel dinner show and a theater-in-the-round dining experience, this time themed to Pixar’s Coco.

CAPTAIN MICKEY: 7 best Disney cruises for families in 2024

Disney Treasure will also feature a brand-new original Broadway-style production called "Disney The Tale of Moana" in the Walt Disney Theatre. Other shows performed on board will include "Beauty and the Beast" and "Disney Seas the Adventure." Best of all, Disney Treasure will sail seven-night itineraries to both the Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean. That means you can enjoy two distinct dinner shows in the Worlds of Marvel and Plaza de Coco restaurants, and all of the Broadway-style shows on stage during one family cruise.

4. Icon of the Seas

Royal Caribbean

A brand-new class of ship is heading to North America in 2024, and it starts with Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas in January. Among the many firsts for Icon of the Seas is the AquaDome, the largest glass and steel structure on any cruise ship, seven pools, six record-breaking waterslides, eight separate neighborhoods, 40 ways to drink and dine, four stages, and a three-level ultimate family townhouse. The innovative AquaDome is a peaceful oasis during the day and a vibrant hotspot at night with a 55-foot-tall water curtain and AquaTheater that debuts performances with divers, skateboarders, and robots.

FAMILY CRUISES: 5 best cruise ships to entertain your teen

Thrill-seekers will love Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea with six waterslides. There's also the Crown’s Edge, which is part skywalk, part ropes course, and 100 percent thrill ride where you can dangle 154 feet above the ocean. And, of course, you'll also find the Royal Caribbean staple FlowRider surf simulator and the Lost Dunes mini golf course. Those looking to take it easy should head to Chill Island, which features four pools spread over three decks with sweeping ocean views.

Fans of Royal Caribbean will enjoy the Royal Promenade with 15 restaurants, bars, and lounges; Central Park's open-air neighborhood filled with live plants and trees; and Surfside, the first neighborhood designed specifically for young families. The ship's seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean family cruises all stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay , the line’s award-winning private island. Families will find an array of activities on Perfect Day at CocoCay, such as its beaches and freshwater pool (included) and an expansive water park and zip line (available for an extra charge).

5. Wonder of the Seas

Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships debuted in early 2022 and instantly ignited buzz that they might be the most kid-friendly cruise ships in the entire world. At 1,188 feet long and 18 decks tall, there's plenty of room for families to spread out and find entertainment onboard the Wonder of the Seas . Two dedicated private teen spaces onboard make vacationing with teenagers a little easier. In fact, teens aged 16 and up can even enjoy a massive teens-only hot tub that literally protrudes over the edge of the ship on Wonder of the Seas' deck 15.

SCENIC VOYAGES: Everything you need to know about river cruises in the USA

Grade school kids and even the littlest ones have it pretty great, too. For big kids, there’s an enormous multiple-deck play area called Wonder Playscape . For the youngest passengers, there's the Adventure Ocean play area full of soft toys and games for toddlers. And a playground with climbing equipment gives them a space to work off their energy. Wonder of the Seas also has the most amazing family suites around. They come complete with two levels of space, an in-suite slide, table tennis, and plenty of room for the whole family.

6. Oasis of the Seas

When it launched in 2009, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas was the largest ship in the world, accommodating more than 5,500 passengers per voyage and cementing the line's place among the best cruise lines for families. After a reimagining 10 years later, Oasis of the Seas is still a popular option for family cruises in 2024 with its Caribbean-inspired pool deck, rock climbing walls, and Perfect Storm trio of multistory waterslides. Among the many reasons that make Royal Caribbean one of the best cruise lines for families is that its Symphony of the Seas builds upon the strengths of the line’s other Oasis Class ships.

7. Norwegian Viva

Norwegian Cruise Line

What makes Norwegian one of the best cruise lines for families? For one thing, you’ll never hear "I’m bored" from kids. And with its three-story race track, two escape rooms, The Rush and The Drop dry slides, The Wave waterslide, immersive virtual reality games, Topgolf simulator, mini golf, waterpark, splash ground, and kids’ clubs, your family’s biggest problem on the Norwegian Viva might just be deciding how to balance all the activities with quiet relaxation.

GO ALL IN: These 6 cruise lines offer the best themed cruises

The Norwegian Viva arrived in North America in December 2023 and offers Caribbean cruises from San Juan, Puerto Rico, in early 2024 before heading to Europe through November. The ship's Observation Lounge has panoramic 180-degree views to soak in the scenery or take Insta-worthy photos on Oceanwalk’s glass walkway. After playing the day away in port or on the ship, your family can enjoy dinner followed by a live performance of Beetlejuice: The Musical, based on the cult-classic Tim Burton film.

8. Carnival Panorama

Carnival Cruise Line

One of Carnival Cruise Line ’s newer ships, the Carnival Panorama 's many kid-friendly features have already made it one of the best cruises for families. The Panorama has supervised kids programs in three different age categories, a massive aqua park, the popular SkyRide aerial attraction, SkyCourse ropes course, and the first SkyZone trampoline park at sea.

DON'T OVERPAY: How to save money on a Carnival Cruise (with or without kids)

In addition, Carnival's exclusive partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises provides "Seuss at Sea" experiences on family cruise vacations, such as Dr. Seuss Bookville, Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, and the Seuss-a-palooza Parade. Based in Los Angeles, Carnival Panorama sails week-long round-trip cruises to the Mexican Riviera in 2024.

9. Caribbean Princess

Princess Cruises

Made famous by the classic '80s TV series "The Love Boat," Princess Cruises now hosts more than two million passengers each year. Kid-friendly Caribbean Princess underwent an extensive renovation in 2017 that boosted its family offerings to include Camp Discovery Youth and Teen Center, HD Movies Under the Stars, and the Reef Family Splash Zone (the line's first splash zone at sea).

MOVIES UNDER THE STARS: 11 best outdoor movie screens for your backyard staycation

Caribbean Princess will be 20 years old in 2024, but another extensive drydock refurbishment in 2022 has kept the ship from feeling dated. Other features that earn the Caribbean Princess a spot on my list of best family cruises include its partnership with Discovery Inc. for "Discovery at SEA" activities, which feature Animal Planet and Discovery Channel programming, the Stanley the Bear experience, and JrChef@Sea cooking classes. In summer 2024, Caribbean Princess heads to Southampton for a series of European cruises before heading back to Florida.

10. MSC Meraviglia

Unless you're a hardcore cruise family, MSC Cruises might be the largest cruise line you’ve never heard of. One of the leading cruise lines in Europe, South America, and other parts of the world, MSC is working hard to get a foothold in North America by offering great deals on family cruises. These include kids ages 18 and under sailing free on select departures , and young children ages two and under always sailing free.

FIRST-TIMERS: 19 things to know before your first cruise with kids

Family-friendly MSC Meraviglia launched in 2017 and it features seven different kids’ clubs for children from babies to age 17. Teens have their own space with a cinema, game room, and live stage. And Meraviglia’s Polar Aquapark has three different waterslides, including a high-speed “champagne flute,” that easily make it one of the best cruises for families. Families can play together in the vast entertainment area that includes an MSC Formula One Racing Simulator, a full-sized bowling alley with two lanes, an interactive XD cinema, a flight simulator, and a video games arcade. There’s also a Sportsplex facility for basketball, tennis, squash, volleyball, pickleball, mini golf, and five-a-side soccer.

11. MSC Seascape

MSC Cruises

The U.S. flagship of the MSC Cruises brand, MSC Seascape was designed with families in mind and offers plenty of options for onboard entertainment. The cruise line's partnership with LEGO includes a DUPLO room for children ages three to six and a second LEGO room for kids ages seven to 11 with the opportunity to earn a LEGO Master Builder certificate. Teens have three different themed areas to engage with their peers.

BRING THE LITTLE ONES: 10 toddler-friendly vacations that are just as much fun for parents

You have to check out Robotron on these family cruises. Robotron is a robotic arm ride that sends you 173 feet above the sea, giving you a unique 360-degree view as you're moved in different directions and flipped upside down. At night, Robotron offers a personalized DJ experience where you can curate your musical journey with colors and music preferences.

MSC Seascape sails from Miami on the Bahamas and Caribbean family cruises, including a visit to MSC Cruises' private Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Ocean Cay features two miles of white sand beaches and a variety of family-friendly activities such as snorkeling, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming. Some family cruises dock overnight at Ocean Cay, allowing you to watch the spectacular Lighthouse light show.

12. Celebrity Equinox

Celebrity Cruises

An upscale cruise line with prices to match, Celebrity Cruises appeals to families with older children or multigenerational groups looking for luxurious family cruises. Celebrity Equinox is not the newest ship in the line (its inaugural sailing was in 2009), but this kid-friendly cruise ship received an extensive overhaul as part of the "Celebrity Revolution" in 2019 and continues to impress with its family cruises in 2024.

COUPLES CRUISES: 7 best cruise lines for couples (and their most romantic voyages)

Celebrity's Camp at Sea kids' program offers a diverse and constantly changing series of activities so that it’s "never the same camp twice." And Celebrity Equinox partners with Miami’s Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science to offer STEM programming on topics such as the importance of plankton to the Earth’s oceans. Other kid-friendly activities on Celebrity’s family cruises include hot glass blowing classes and demonstrations, as well as lawn games such as croquet and bocce on the real grass of the Lawn Club.

The 7 Best Cruise Lines for Families, Vetted by a Frequent Cruiser

Author image: about face matte fluid eye paint review chelsea candelario

For a long time, I thought cruises were for the older crowd . The only thing I knew about cruising was from my 58-year old aunt, who was constantly traveling all over the Caribbean via ship. From her, I thought cruises were basically laying by the pool all day, checking out the views and eating at speciality restaurants. (I mean, it is, but there’s so much more.) But in 2018, I finally set “sail” on a vacation at sea of my own, and my mind was completely changed. Now, I’m kinda obsessed with them. From the fun trivia to the adventure-filled excursions, cruises are for everyone! Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway (with a killer kids’ club), unique activities for your thrill-seeking teen or play areas to keep your toddler entertained , here’s a list of the seven best cruise lines for families.

Msc cruises, how i chose the best cruise lines for families.

As mentioned, I’ve been going on cruises since 2018 and will be heading on my sixth cruise this year. I’ve been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, so I have first-hand experience on how each cruise line’s amenities, activities, entertainment, food and more. I also spent hours researching everything you need to know about each cruise line, from the ships themselves to the offerings available for each. To make sure all types of families and their needs are covered, I chatted with our parent editors, who vouched for a few of these cruise lines on the list. Keep reading to find one that’s right for you.

1. Disney Cruise Line

If you’re searching for one of the best cruise lines for families, look no further than Disney Cruise Line. It takes all the magic we know and love from the parks with an at-sea flair. Character meet and greets replete with Mickey and friend, princesses and superheroes are a frequent occurrence. The ships also have themed days (like Pirate Night and Marvel Day at Sea), award-winning performances, specialty activities (Iike Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and The Pirates League) and dance parties filled with spectacular fireworks—it is Disney after all.

Parents can drop their young kids off at the Oceaneer Club, where they’ll be able to interact with their favorite characters, enjoy themed play areas and games. The older kids can also enjoy their own daily activities through The Hideaway, The Edge or Vibe club, featuring gaming systems, karaoke and a dance floor. One more thing: The fun isn’t just for the kiddos. Pack some dancing shoes and be ready for the nightclubs and lounges on board for guests 18 and older.

Aside from main and casual dining options, Disney Cruise Line offers interactive dining experiences (like Animator’s Palate and Royal Court Royal Tea) for the whole family. There’s also adult-exclusive dining in case parents want a romantic dinner away from tantrums and time outs. Guests will also enjoy checking out Disney’s own private island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay, where you just might see some hidden statues of your fave characters if you like to try out snorkeling under the sun.

  • Best Ships to Consider: Disney Wish, Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, Disney Magic
  • Amenities: Oceaneer Club, Oceaneer Lab, The Edge, Vibe, The Hideaway
  • Activities: Character Meet and Greets, Themed Dinners, Live Shows, Dance Parties, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pools

2. Royal Caribbean

Royal caribbean.

There’s no limit when it comes to Royal Caribbean. They have over 28 ships, which are categorized into six classes. Among them are family favorites like the Oasis class and the new Icon class, marketed themselves as the ultimate family vacation. The Icon of the Seas features everything you love from a Royal ship—rock climbing, FlowRider (aka a cool surf stimulator) and more—but with an entire ‘neighborhood’ dedicated to kids. As our Executive Managing Editor Catrina Yohay previously shared after a vacation on the largest ship in the world : “If you’re traveling as a family or in a large group, cruises just make sense, and that’s especially true on the Icon of the Seas. Like a fully planned vacation with minimal effort and the added bonus of a zero-commitment itinerary, this ship offers something for every generation to enjoy (yes, even Elvis trivia).”

The cruise line offers a Babies and Tots program, which you can drop off your baby (6 to 36 months). The baby-proof space have a bunch of toys and activities to keep them occupied. (Note: The Jewel, Adventure and Explorer of the Seas currently don’t have this service on board.) There are also three different clubs for older kids that you can book ahead of your trip, ranging from Aquanauts (3 to 5), Explorers (6 to 8) and Voyagers (9 to 11). They can explore arts and crafts, hands-on science experiments and friendly gaming competitions. As for the tweens and teens, they have more freedom to choose between pre-planned activities or spend their days hanging out at the lounge.

You’ll find even more activities to do with the family at their private island, Coco Cay. It’s home to one of the tallest water slides in North America, as well as a huge wave pool, expansive beaches and more. As for the food, the cruise line prides itself on buffet style at the Windjammer, specialty restaurants and complimentary favorites (like Loco Fresh, Sorrento’s Pizza and Park Cafe). If you’re looking for a table service, Royal Caribbean offers kids’ menu at their main dining halls, featuring pizza, spaghetti and chicken tenders.

  • Best Ships to Consider: Oasis of the Seas, Odyssey of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas, Icon of the Seas
  • Amenities: Aquanauts, Explorers, Voyagers, Teen Club
  • Activities: Water Slides, Dry Slides, Rock Climbing, Surf Stimulation, Live Performances, Pools
  • Price Range: $326 to $3,287 per person, kids under 12 can sail free (varies based on location, number of nights and ship).

3. Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival is known for being the most entertaining and party-filled of the bunch. Whichever of their 26 ships you set out on, the cruise line is all about having a good time. My first cruise (along with my 80-year-old grandmother) was on a Carnival. And we all had a blast. The company prides itself for having activities and amenities for every generation through dance parties, trivia and live performances.

Each ship (yep, all 26) have Camp Ocean, a program broken down into Penguins (2 to 5), Stingrays (6 to 8) and Sharks (9 to 11). Each group can experience a host of activities. Some ships also have Seuss at Sea, where the iconic book characters come to life through character breakfasts, story time and a fun parade. Depending on the Carnival ship, the older kids can try out the Sky Zone (indoor trampoline park), catch a movie at the IMAX theater, experience the ropes course or hang out in their very own Club O2 or Circle “C”. Other amenities the kiddos will just love? Build-A-Bear Workshop, NASA-inspired activities, Thrill Theater and the first ever roller coaster at sea. FYI: Carnival currently has a Night Owls program, where you can leave your kids under 11 as late as 1 a.m, so you can enjoy a bit of nightlife on vacation.

When it comes to dining, parents can rest assured that Carnival has you covered. Multiple dining venues have kids’ menus, featuring everything from chicken nuggets to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Plus, the ships have complimentary all-you-can-eat pizza and soft serve that’s available through the wee hours.

  • Best Ships to Consider: Carnival Mardi Gras, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Vista, Carnival Glory
  • Amenities: Camp Ocean, Night Owl
  • Activities: Water Slides, Rollercoaster, Pools, SkyRide, Live Performances
  • Price Range: $154 to $3,972 per person (varies based on location, number of nights and ship)

4. Norwegian Cruise Line

If you have older kids, Norwegian may be the best cruise line for your family. They have a ton of amenities for all ages. Zoom around the largest race track at sea, immerse yourself at the high-tech Galaxy Pavilion or take a plunge on the water slides. I had the chance to check out their latest ship, Norwegian Prima, which has two drop slides, a duo waterslide and a huge sports area (with mini golf, pickleball court, ping pong and more).

They also have programs for each age group, including the Splash Academy (3 to 12) and Entourage (13 to 17). As for the Guppies Program (6 months to 4), parents are required to stay with their child and enjoy the amenities together. However, Norwegian does offer group babysitting during the evenings for parents to enjoy a child-free dinner.

While I love all the amenities, the food options were superb. They have both specialty (where kids under 12 can eat for free) and a complimentary buffet where even the pickiest eater of the fam will find something to enjoy. Aside from the buffet and 24-hour spots, newer ships offer the Indulge Food Hall. They are set up like a food market, where you can order from any station and have it all brought right to your seat. It was a great experience trying out new dishes and having a family-style meal.

  • Best Ships to Consider: Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Prime, Norwegian Viva
  • Amenities: Guppies Program, Splash Academy, Entourage
  • Activities: Water Slides, Racetrack, Laser Tag, Virtual Reality
  • Price Range: $129 to $4,598 per person (varies based on location, number of nights and ship)

5. MSC Cruises

From Norway, Greece or Rome, MSC is the best cruise line for families that want to take their young explorers out to the open sea—and this one has a ton of amenities to keep them busy in the meantime. Whether you want to try your hand at zip lining or prefer staying on the ground and playing bowling, grab yourself a MSC Fun Pass to try out these activities throughout your trip. All the ships also show Broadway-level shows, live music and immersive performances that will even have your teen engaged in the theatrics.

You’ll also find five different clubs on the ship, Baby Club (0-3), Mini Club (3-6), Junior Club (7-11), Young Club (11-14) and the Teen Club (15-17). They vary depending on the age group, but some highlights include sports competitions, dance parties, karaoke and more. There are also additional services for your babies, including MSC Baby Time, MSC Baby Care Service and the MSC and Chicco. FYI: MSC has their own baby laundry service, so you don’t have to worry about cleaning out those stains once you get home.

At MSC, dining is elevated to give kids just as amazing (and sometimes luxe) food options as the adults. Assessed by nutritionists, the menu features fun dishes for all ages, including babies from 6 to 12 months. The buffets each have a Kids’ Corner and all the specialty restaurants have a menu, so your kiddo can find a meal that they’ll like.

PureWow Editor-in-Chief Jillian Quint shares, “Celebrity is great for families with older kids. It's very sophisticated and sleek (no giant plastic water slides here), but there's still a ton for big kids and teens to do: shows to see, one million pools to lounge at, and destinations like Bahamas, Aruba and St. Maarten. There are also various ‘Camp at Sea’ options to keep kids entertained all day long. But the best part is knowing you can let your kids go off by themselves, but they can never get too far.”

Speaking of Camp at Sea, this entertainment center is home to over 500 activities for kids, including arts and crafts, culinary, sport competitions and STEM-based activities. It’s broken down by Shipmates (3-5), Cadets (6-9) and Captains (10 -12). On the flip side, the Teen Club offers different classes, competitions and parties throughout the day. Luckily for them, they have the freedom to leave whenever they want—although the dedicated space for them is worth checking out.

Kids can try out the buffet or main dining room to get everything from grilled cheese sandwiches to a mini margarita pizza. MSC also offers in-room dining menus in case your kiddo gets a little restless at the dinner table. Plus, the cruise line is especially loved for being sensory- and autism-friendly, offering a wide range of services like priority checking, Camp at Sea flexible grouping and more.
