Leaving and returning to Sanctuary in Borderlands 3 is something you’re gonna be doing a lot, since Sanctuary is the ship that serves as your home base. In order to leave and get back to Sanctuary in Borderlands 3, you have to follow a pretty simple sequence. However, there is also a bug that might prevent you from leaving Sanctuary in a certain story mission. With all that said, our Borderlands 3 How to Leave & Get Back to Sanctuary is going to explain everything, including how to fix the Sanctuary mission bug.
How to Leave Sanctuary in Borderlands 3?
To leave Sanctuary in Borderlands 3 and go down to a planet, open up your map screen. Then, go to the Orbit View. From this menu, select the planet you want to go visit. Then, in the next screen, select your desired zone. Lastly, you have to pick which fast travel station you want to use to teleport to the surface. After a loading screen, you’ll be on the planet, free to go where you please.
How to Get Back to Sanctuary in Borderlands 3?
To return to Sanctuary in Borderlands 3, open the map. In the menu on the left, go to Sanctuary under the Home tab. Select it, and a new menu will pop up. All you have to do there is select the Sanctuary fast travel station. A short loading screen later, you’ll be back home, nice and safe aboard the ship.
Now, this is all nice and simple. However, there are some problems with leaving Sanctuary, particularly in one of the first quests that you’ll do when you first visit Sanctuary. Let’s see what we can do about that.
Borderlands 3 Leaving Sanctuary Talk to Ellie Bug Solution – How to Fix?
To fix the bug that you might run into the Talk to Ellie step of the Hostile Takover mission in Borderlands 3, you’ll have to use matchmaking to play a mission with someone that has already completed the mission. From there, return to your single player game. That’s the only workaround we know of at the time of writing. Interestingly, you can apply the same strategy whenever a quest bugs out like this. This is so not intuitive/user friendly…
When looking to do a specific side mission how do I find the location. In the fast travel menu some commands (scoll) are done via joy stick while others are done via D pad buttons and again others by triangle (PS4) plus execute square. As I’m a little older than mist gamers my mind still wants the simplicity of BL2 fast travel and I’m having a lot if trouble with it. A button by button explanation would be good as at the moment it’s all hit and miss. Tom…?
Fix Cannot Fast Travel to Sanctuary – Borderlands 3

The new Borderlands 3 Maliwan Takedown update has arrived. There is a lot of content to play with. YouTubers and Twitch Streamers are already working on new builds since most of the abilities and skills were tweaked with this update.
However, the update is not perfect. A few new bugs have popped up. People are unable to Fast Travel to Sanctuary, Epic Games Client is downloading over 40GB for the patch, Game won’t open on PS4 and so on. There are many, but if you are facing the Cannot Fast Travel to Sanctuary bug, worry no more, I will tell you how to fix it.
Fix Cannot Fast Travel to Sanctuary
For some reason, Fast Travel won’t work if you hover on it. This was broken with the latest patch update. To fix this select the fast travel point (click it) and then do it, it’ll work. PS/Xbox users can move the analog stick to the fast travel marker on Sanctuary to make it work. Keep in mind that it has to be done with the analog stick, not the D-Pad.

- How To Fast Travel
You Can Use Fast Travel Anywhere (Almost)
Fast Travel in Borderlands 3 is free and can be done anywhere. Do this by just opening the Echo menu and choosing where you want to Fast Travel to and you're good to go. However, you cannot Fast Travel when riding a vehicle .
Fast Travel To Your Vehicle
You can also use Fast Travel to instantly teleport to your vehicle. You can do this by opening the ECHO menu and selecting your vehicle, then Fast Traveling to it as you would with a location. You'll then be instantly inside your vehicle and ready to drive.
Can Only Go To Fast Travel Stations
You can only go to places with unlocked Fast Travel Stations. From there, you can either walk or Digistruct a vehicle to go to your destination. Also worth noting is that you cannot fast travel to New-U Stations (in-game checkpoints).
One-Way Fast Travel Stations
Fast Travel Station encountered after boss fights are one-way stations, meaning that you cannot Fast Travel to them . Using them works the same way as using Fast Travel in your ECHO menu.
You Can Fast Travel During Combat
Even in combat, you can still fast travel by opening the ECHO menu. Use this to regroup and get out of unfavorable situations. Note that this is a one-way trip and you might have to manually trek back to your previous location.

If the drop pod zone gate is not active, take the ship to another planet, then back to the one you want to visit. That works for me. I had to put cursor on the fast travel station that i wanted to go to otherwise it wouldnt let me either. I found exiting out of the game, and then restarting my PS4 did the trick for me.
I have fast travel locations, but I can only fast travel to Sanctuary. When I select other fast travel stations, even when I'm orbit around the planet, I can't travel to them on the map screen. When I select sanctuary it says "Hold E to fast travel" then when I target another fast travel station, like on prometheus, no prompt to travel appears ...
The answer has already been posted. You start on Pandora with a working fast travel system, there's no need to fly the ship anywhere. From Sanctuary III, "m" for map, "x" for galaxy & select your destination planet, click to zoom in and fast travel. That fixes the Map, But doesn't fix drop or trade.

BL3 fast travel from Santuary to Promethea Problem. so this is the mission i'm on right now "Go To Meridian Metroplex" but when i try to fast travel back to Promethea when i'm on Sanctuary the only one that shows up is Sanctuary. is there a fix for this. One more thing, when you fly first time to most Planets, you need to go to that Dropship from Ellie to travel down the first time. From then on you can just open your Map, and navigate using the Orbit View or Planet Zone View ... and click those Fast Travel spots. #13. Fer Mar 31, 2020 @ 6:33pm.

Only then you can use the Fast-Travel. If you are on a planet, you need to press "x" to zoom out of the Universe map view to go to another planet. Each planet has it own Fast-Travel point. The game doesn't have like is older BL with fast clicks. This game waste a lot of time with interactive map selection. Simply put, console game play.

Stuck on Sanctuary, can't fast travel anywhere. All of my quests say I need to go to the fast travel station in sanctuary but when I do the only option I have is to return to sanctuary. Getting frustrated. May seem obvious, if you have tried. But have you zoomed out to the galaxy view?
