Best time to visit philippines.

With a year-round warm climate, expect hot weather when visiting the Philippines at any time of the year. Sea breezes prevail in the coastal regions between November and February, so travel during this time if you wish to take the edge off the heat. January to May are considered the optimum times to visit though, as it is best to avoid the typhoon season which runs from July to October and involves heavy rain, flooding and high winds.

Geography and environment

Consisting of more than 7,000 islands, the Philippines archipelago is located in the South-East of  Asia , in between the South China Sea and the Philippine Sea. Being a part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Philippines is home to many active volcanoes and a staggering amount of biodiversity, with thousands of plant, mammal, fish and bird species living on land and in the sea. As a very mountainous country, the Philippines is dotted with numerous peaks, which give way to deep valleys that are often studded with rivers and streams. Tropical rainforest occupies much of the landmass, with most of the population living on the low lying coastal areas.

Top 5 fun festivals of the Philippines

1. ati-atihan.

With a history that dates all the way back to 1210, this flamboyant festival is considered one of the Philippines' best. Think massive ostentatious costumes, loud drumming, floats of parading dancers, riotous crowds and a healthy dose of partying and you've got Ati-Atihan - the Philippines' best shot at Rio Carnaval.

2. Grand Cordillera Festival

Baguio reserves the fourth last week of November to celebrate life and local culture with ethnic songs, dance, costume and food. This festival spreads peace and tolerance and provides an interesting snapshot of the lives of the ethnic people of the northern Luzon area.

3. Dinagyang

Iloilo City gets its chance to party with its own version of Ati-Atihan. City streets are decked out with colourful banners, street stalls sizzle with barbecued pork, and chicken and costumed dancers compete for glory.

4. Feast of Our Lady of Candles

This annual display of epic religious pageantry features a procession of the patroness, fiesta queen and court through the streets and town center of Jaro. Locals carry candles and a statue of the Virgin Mary to the town cathedral, where crowds of people wait. This spirited and vibrant festival is a great introduction to Filipino culture and religious celebration.

5. Obando Fertility Festival

Want to see couples dance through the streets in aid of hopefully producing a child? Each year, the town of Bulacan holds this festival for childless couples who wish to produce children. Couples dance down the street to the local church, dance up the aisle and attend mass in honor of the three local patron saints.

US Dollar is also an acceptable form of payment in the Philippines which can be popular at several big agents, hotels or restaurants. However, it is advisable to have some of the local money in your wallet anytime here, especially when you’re in less developed areas.

Best Philippines SIM card to buy

There are two main network providers in the Philippines: Smart and Globe and their prepaid SIM cards are always on sale everywhere that could meet your needs. You can even buy one in counters at the airport, the price here could be more expensive than vendors in the city but not too pricey. Both networks are OK for the coverage as well as the connection’s stability.

Is the food in the Philippines safe and clean?

You can safely enjoy the feast of the local food in a variety of eateries available here. The mix of many cultures enriched the inherent flavours of Filipino delicacies that make them more attractive to foodies when in this beautiful country.

Is tipping mandatory in the Philippines?

Tipping is not a common local etiquette in the Philippines. Many restaurants and hotels will include a service charge in the bill, but you can leave a personal tip of spare change or another little amount to the waiter, local guide, hotel & resort staff, driver, or any service worker that gave you an excellent experience. It is a huge appreciation for them for sure.

Which destinations should I visit in the Philippines?

There are a lot of sites and attractions that worth your visit at least one time when in the Philippines. While Manila and Cebu are two main cities delivering a lively ambience of modern metropolises, the archipelagic country seems to be more alluring with countless beautiful islands and beaches from North to South: Boracay, El Nido, Coron, and many other hidden gems across the seas. If you’re into the natural sites, don’t miss out on Puerto Princesa Subterranean River or Tarsier Sanctuary and Chocolate Hills in Bohol. An in-depth exploration of the majestic landscapes of Banaue Terraces or active volcanoes in Luzon could be a dream for adventure enthusiasts.

Besides, October and May are two great shoulder options. Visiting the country in summer months from June to early October is also fine as it’s the low season and everything will be cheaper. But you should carefully concern about unpredictable tropical typhoons that can be suddens making your trip get stuck.

How long do I need to explore the Philippines?

A trip within a month or even longer might fulfil your expectations for an all-encompassing itinerary discovering all the best of the Philippines. If you don’t have enough time, it not easy to experience everything here in just one trip. So you’d better cluster some of the prominent destinations on each of the island groups to save the travel time across these places. Generally, you can spend from 08 to 19 days for each visit to the Philippines depending on your travel time budget.

Philippines Tours & Travel Guide

Philippines Attractions & Landmarks Guide

The Philippines, made up of over 7,000 islands, is a very diverse country. From the bustling metropolis of Manila to the laid-back, palm fringed beaches of Boracay and Palawan, this Spanish-influenced nation has something for all travel tastes. Friendly, English-speaking locals, make the Philippines a unique Southeast Asian destination.

Crystal clear waters, undersea wonders, white sand beaches, and lush jungles are the hallmarks of this colorful tropical paradise.

Beyond the beaches lie towering volcanoes that can be experienced by hiking trail or 4x4 tour.

The cities in the Philippines boast beautiful architecture, diverse museums, annual festivals, and opportunities to explore the region’s rich cultural history.

Whether you want to relax in an all-inclusive beach resort with a coconut cocktail, adventure into the jungle to splash under a waterfall, or snorkel amongst the islands’ vibrant fish and wildlife, the Philippines is sure to overwhelm you with its beauty.

Islands in the Philippines

There are more than 7,000 islands in the Philippines, sprinkled amongst the waters of the Phillipine Sea, South China Sea, and Celebes Sea off the east coast of Asia. Only about 2,000 of the islands in the Philippines are inhabited, and among those, Philippines travel and tourism is popular on less than two dozen islands.

The islands are grouped into three national regions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

1. Northern Luzon Region

Luzon is the group of northern islands, including Luzon itself, Palawan, Mindoro, Marinduque, Masbate, Romblon, Catanduanes, Batanes, and Polilio.

The largest and most populated island of them all, Luzon is home to many of the Philippines’ most iconic destinations. Walk through the Batad rice terraces of Banaue, where rice farms have been expertly carved into steep hillsides, stopping at local cafes along the way for rest and refreshment.

Hike to Taal Volcano, Mount Pinatubo, and Mount Pulag as you explore mountains in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Gaze up at towering cathedrals and historic churches along the urban streets of Manila, one of the most densely populated cities in the world.

Palawan is a long, skinny island south of Luzon with a diverse array of popular tourist activities. Taste local Philippine fare and sip on cold beers in Puerto Princesa, explore the world’s longest navigable underground river, or relax on one of the Philippines’ most beautiful beaches.

On the island of Mindoro, splash into some of the Philippines’ most famous waterfalls, including Tamaraw and Talipanan Falls, or grab your snorkel to explore the undersea wildlife in Apo Reef, off the island’s western coast.

2. Central Visayas Region

The Visayas region includes the central islands of Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Leyte, Samar, Biliran, and Guimaras.

Panay is the home of Iloilo City, a perfect jumping-off point for exploring the island’s dreamscape beaches and for feasting on delicious seafood.

Nearby Negros boasts mountains for climbing, waterfalls for splashing, historic buildings and ruins for exploration, and of course, more lovely beaches to relax, swim, paddle a kayak, or snorkel. Snorkelers and divers won’t want to miss Apo, a tiny island near the southern tip of Negros. Famous for its sharks, sea turtles, and colorful fish, Apo is home to a marine reserve that makes the long journey to the island well worth the trip.

Cebu City is a hotspot for arts, culture, and regional cuisine, and Cebu Island’s beaches offer a relaxing getaway from the urban areas.

On the island of Bohol, explore a unique geological site called the Chocolate Hills, where 1200 otherworldly mounds punctuate the lush landscape. Meet Tarsiers, the world’s smallest primates, measuring just four to five inches tall! Snorkel among coral and colorful fish at Alona Beach, where craggy cliffs tower over the white sand beaches.

The locals know Siquijor as a somewhat spooky place where mystical traditions still reign and witch doctors practice magic. For visitors, the island’s waterfalls, mangrove jungles, beach bars, and turquoise sea waters are the major draws.

3. Southern Mindanao Region

The southern part of the country includes the islands of Mindanao itself, Dinagat, Siargao, Camiguin, Samal, plus the Sulu Archipelago, composed primarily of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

This part of the country has less tourist infrastructure than the other two regions, and tourism is discouraged in the southwest part of the Mindanao region due to safety concerns.

Davao City, however, is one of the safest cities in the world. Parks and preserves in the city showcase local wildlife. Gaze up at the summit of the tallest peak in the Philippines, Mount Apo, or hike through the forests in the foothills below.

Splash through a whitewater river on a raft near the city of Cagayan de Oro, known as the “City of Golden Friendship.”

Surfers flock to Siargao, known worldwide as one of the best surf spots in the Pacific.

The larger islands in the Philippines can all be reached by airplanes, and inter-island flights are frequent. Ferries, usually fashioned from old fishing boats, are required to explore the smaller, more remote islands...some of which have no roads at all! These passenger vessels feature nice decks to enjoy the views during your passage.

Top Activities in the Philippines

  • See off the beaten path tours in the Philippines

If you like to relax or adventure in warm, tropical climates, you’ll love the Philippines. While there are a few things to do indoors (like restaurants and museums), most travelers experience the beauty and the wonder of this island paradise through time spent outside.

Swimming, Snorkeling, Diving, and Boating

The crystal clear turquoise waters of the Philippines’ seas can be explored in myriad ways. Grab a snorkel and a pair of flippers to swim amongst tropical fish and coral reefs. Take diving course to sink to new depths, swim with sharks, and float alongside sea turtles.

Rent a kayak to paddle through calm waters between tiny, rugged islands. Charter a guided fishing boat to experience the islands through the eyes of a local expert, and cook up your fresh catch for dinner.

With 53 active volcanoes, the Philippines is a prominent region in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Many of these majestic mountains can be explored by hiking trail or 4x4 guided tours. Views from the top span out across the islands and into the sea. Even if you choose to explore just the foothills, the rushing rivers and vibrant jungles below the peaks are worthy of their own adventure.

Photography

A quick online image search for the Philippines likely yields some of the most beautiful pictures you’ve ever seen. The striking color palette and impressive biodiversity of the area make the Philippines a hotspot for professional and amateur photographers alike. Local photography tours can lead you to some of the country’s most iconic destinations and help you capture them perfectly with your camera.

Cultural Tours

If you fancy the art and culture side of things, sign up for a walking tour or a bus tour of one of the Philippines’ vibrant urban centers to learn about the nation’s unique history: from ancient traditions, through colonization to today’s independence.

Many cities in the Philippines host annual festivals or celebrations, like the Sinulog Festival in Cebu City, which some describe as a week-long local version of Mardis Gras. Plan your visit to overlap with one of these festivals to see the extravagant costumes, hear the singing, watch the dancing and parades, and taste the scrumptious delicacies.

What to See and Do in the Philippines

  • Explore five miles of underground river at Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park
  • Hike on some of the world’s most iconic Pacific volcanoes, including Mount Pulag, Mayon Volcano, and Mount Pinatubo
  • Swim with sea turtles, sharks, sardines, and hundreds of other marine creatures in pristine saltwater lagoons and bays
  • Marvel at the ornate architecture of historic Spanish-Catholic cathedrals, built as early as the 17th century
  • Relax on smooth, white sand beaches beneath towering palm trees
  • Take an island-hopping tour to breathtakingly beautiful lagoons, coves, and beaches
  • Splash underneath waterfalls in lush, tropical jungles
  • Celebrate with the locals during one of the Philippines annual festivals, which include delicious food, elaborate costumes, and parades

Philippine Culture

Meeting the local residents is a highlight of Philippines travel, as Filipinos are known as being some of the friendliest and welcoming people on the planet!

The Philippines’ history of colonization, as well as its unique geographic location and proximity to other countries in Asia and Oceania, have resulted in a diverse set of cultural traditions and values. There are more than 100 distinct ethno-linguistic groups throughout the islands—as communities developed on separate islands, their dialects and traditions evolved independently. Generally, families in the Philippines are close-knit, and children are taught from a young age to respect their elders.

The Philippines is a deeply religious place. Evidence of the Spanish-Catholic colonization (1565-1898) is apparent in the Philippines’ architecture and infrastructure. Many Filipinos are practicing Catholics who go to church at least once a week, and on school days, children in Catholic school uniforms are out and about on the streets. In the southern Mindanao region, Islam is another common religion; it was introduced to the area in 1380 by an Arabian trader.

A great deal of historic cultural traditions and rituals exist alongside more modern religious practices, including city-specific annual celebrations with dancing, singing, drinks, and food. Speaking of food, Filipinos love to eat, and eating more than three meals a day is the norm! As a visitor, you’ll be encouraged to eat often, like the locals do.

Cities in the Philippines

Northern luzon region.

Manila is the largest urban center in the Philippines, and Manila Metro is actually made up of 16 cities. Cultural monuments, ornate churches, and historic cathedrals are mixed among modern skyscrapers and landscaped parks.  Jeepneys are the primary form of public transportation: colorful, crowded retired army vehicles covered in kitschy art and paint.

Be aware that a visit to Manila—one of the most densely-populated cities in the world—includes exposure to some not-so-desirable aspects for international travelers, including crime, bad traffic, and extreme poverty. If you’re seeking a restful beach vacation during your Philippine travel, you may want to skip Manila altogether and head straight for the beach on a smaller island.

Known as the “City of Pines,” Baguio is a popular summer destination for both locals and tourists, as its high-elevation, forested location is far cooler weather in the summer months than most other populated areas.

Because it’s surrounded by mountains rather than beaches, Baguio is unique from other cities in the Philippines. With great parks, a laid-back vibe, and plenty of beautiful resorts, this city in the Cordillera Mountains is a worthy destination for international travelers visiting the Philippines.

3. Sagada and Banaue

The cities of of Sagada and Banaue lie north of Baguio in the Cordillera Mountains, where you can see two of the island’s most fascinating attractions: hanging coffins in the mountains near Sagada, and the agricultural wonders known as rice terraces, where rice fields and farms have been expertly carved into steep hillsides. Connect with a local guide to explore this not-so-touristy region.

4. Vigan City

Farther north on Luzon lies Vigan City, where some of the best examples of Spanish colonial architecture can be seen. This area, influenced by a mix of both Spanish and Chinese cultural traditions, is a must-see for history buffs. Ride in a horse-drawn “kalesa,” climb to the top of Bantay Bell Tower, gaze at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral, and stroll through the Calle Crisologo walkable district.

5. Puerto Princesa

On the island of Palawan, Puerto Princesa is a gateway city to some of the Philippines’ most popular tourist attractions and activities: the limestone caves and five-mile underground river in Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, island-hopping tours between El Nido and Coron, snorkeling in Honda Bay, and ziplining at Ugong Rock. The city itself has nice accommodations, museums, and restaurants.

Central Visayas Region

1. On Negros Island, Bacolod is one of the cleanest and greenest cities in the Philippines. Home to the annual MassKara Festival, Bacolod is also known as the “City of Smiles” due to the friendly, helpful locals. Great food and delicious pastries are the culinary hallmarks of this city.

2. Cebu City on the island of Cebu has an international airport that many travelers find easier to navigate than the airport in Manila. This diverse city is known for great food and delicacies, nightly entertainment, its annual Sinulog festival, and myriad ways to explore the rich cultural influences of the area. Access to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines is another reason to visit Cebu.

3. On Panay Island, Iloilo City (pronounced “Ee-loh ee-loh”) is a friendly, bustling city with fantastic seafood restaurants, historic architecture, and beautiful viewpoints to gaze out across the turquoise waters of Panay Gulf and the beachside cliffs on Guimaras Island.

Southern Mindanao Region

1. Davao City is a bustling urban area on the southeast side of Mindanao Island. Mount Apo, the tallest peak in the Philippines, towers above the city and can be explored via hiking trail or 4x4 tour. Parks, museums, and nature preserves within the city itself offer opportunities to experience the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of this tropical paradise.

1. On Mindanao’s northern coast, the city of Cagayan de Oro offers both outdoor adventure activities, like whitewater river rafting and hiking through the jungle, as well as shopping and urban architecture tours. Dubbed the “City of Golden Friendship,” this city is known for its plethora of tourist-friendly activities and its warm, welcoming residents.

Note : While Davao and Cagayan de Oro are both widely considered two of the safest cities in the Philippines, US residents should be aware that as of April 9, 2019, a level 3 travel advisory is in place for the greater Mindanao region.

Common Philippines Tour Routes

Perhaps the most popular tour route in the Philippines, an island-hopping tour between El Nido (Palawan Island) and Coron (Busuanga Island) showcases the very best of the country’s beaches.

Technically, the journey can be completed in half a day on a high-speed ferry, but many travelers opt for a multi-day exploration that visits numerous small islands along the way. Tasty local fare is included, as are daily cocktails, and overnight accommodations range from rustic to luxurious.

If you’re interested in seeing more than just beaches, a northern Luzon tour route from Manila to the Cordillera mountains may be just the ticket. Visits to the cities of Baguio, Sagada, and Banaue offer an in-depth look at the culture, history, and inland landscape of the Philippines.

Baguio is a cultural hub with universities, restaurants, shops, and colorful architecture. Batad and Banaue, nestled into lush mountainsides, are home to the country’s famous rice terraces and countless natural wonders.

The islands of Panay, Negros, Cebu, and Bohol are nestled together in the Visayas region and, depending on the length of your visit, it could be quite reasonable to visit all four. You may even be able to squeeze in a visit to Siquijor by taking a ferry from Negros! An itinerary for this region could include Iloilo City and Cebu City for urban explorations as well as the beaches, bays, and waterfalls these islands are famous for.

Food in the Philippines

Filipinos love to eat, and food is a central part of the Philippine travel experience! If you’re exploring the area on a guided Philippine tour, your guides will be excited to introduce you to the traditional cuisine of the islands—colorful tropical fruits, savory rice dishes with saucy meats, and decadent desserts—and if you’re interested, some Philippine tours offer opportunities to help prepare the meals and learn more about them.

Perhaps the most famous dish of the Philippines is Adobo: chicken or pork marinated and cooked in a hearty sauce of vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and black pepper, then served with rice.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll definitely want to try Halo halo, a popular Filipino dessert made with shave ice, ice cream, condensed milk, and various sweet toppings.

While fresh fruit is plentiful, vegetarian meal options in the Philippines are limited. Most dishes are made with pork, chicken, fish, and/or eggs; even salads and vegetable dishes that appear meatless may contain fish sauce in the dressing or marinade. Vegetarians may want to plan to pack back-up snack options.

Top Beaches in the Philippines

A trip to the Philippines wouldn’t be complete without visits to at least a few of these beaches, famous for their stunning beauty, relaxing vibe, and opportunities to experience the biodiversity of this tropical utopia.

1. El Nido and Marimegmeg, Palawan

The coastline near El Nido is dotted with little inlets and lagoons, including popular Hidden Beach, which is nestled into a rocky cove of limestone cliffs. Travel to Marimegmeg Beach via tricycle, as it’s unreachable by road from the town of El Nido, to enjoy its relaxed vibe and comfy outdoor beach furniture.

2. Honda Bay, Palawan

Just north of Puerto Princesa, the islands and sandbars of Honda Bay make for picturesque day at the beach. If your island-hopping ferry departs from Honda Bay, arrive early to take advantage of Honda Bay’s recreation opportunities: swimming, boating, and fishing.

3. Kayangan Lake, Coron

Between the islands of Palawan and Mindoro lies Coron, where the underwater sights are just as alluring as the island’s beaches, cliffs, and lagoons. While Coron’s ocean beaches hold their own allure, Kayangan Lake draws visitors inland with its crystal clear waters and otherworldly underwater rock formations.

4. Saud Beach and Anguib Beach, Luzon

If you’re eager to escape from the busy tourist areas, make the journey all the way to the northern tip of Luzon. Saud Beach is a peaceful, quiet place to enjoy a well-kept, minimally developed stretch of sand. Anguib, a few hours east of Saud, is another place to escape the busyness of it all while taking in sweeping views of the Babuyan Islands on the northern horizon.

1. Pink Beaches, Sila

Not all the best beaches in the Philippines are white. Visit one of Sila’s pink beaches (there are three) to see the vibrant contrast of smooth pink sand against turquoise sea waters.

2. Moalboal and Panagsama, Cebu

If you’d like to add “swimming amongst a sardine storm” to your list of life experiences, a visit to Moalboal is a must during your Philippines travel. The beach strip at Panagsama is sprinkled with resorts, dive shops, beach bars, restaurants, seafood grills, and souvenir shops.

3. White Beach, Boracay

Consistently voted one of the top beaches in the Philippines, White Beach (and the entire island of Boracay) underwent an exhaustive rehabilitation effort between 2018 and 2019 due to the effects of irresponsible tourism.

What used to be a raging party locale is now a subdued, relaxing place where no alcohol is allowed on the beach. Rather than the thumping of dance music, expect to simply hear the sound of water lapping against the shore.

4. Paradise Beach, Bantayan

With fewer visitors than the popular beaches of Boracay, Paradise Beach is aptly named. Towering palm trees, grassy picnic areas, and smooth white sands make for a quintessential day in this tropical utopia.

5. Alona, Bohol

If you’re eager to see the Philippines famous coral reefs and vibrant undersea wildlife, look no further than the beach at Alona. No diving equipment or training is necessary; you’ll just want a snorkel.

1. Cloud Nine, Siargao

Surfers (and surf spectators) won’t want to miss Cloud Nine Reef, famous internationally for its big waves. The island of Siargao, located on the far eastern edge of the Philippine archipelago, is also home to countless lagoons and oh-so-swimmable rock pools.

Trip Planning Essentials

getaway tours philippines

When choosing a Philippines tour package , travelers need to consider the duration of the trip, physical requirements, and more, to ensure a memorable and comfortable experience.

Understanding Travel Duration

Tour durations vary, typically spanning from 8 days to 17 days . A standard package might offer a 10-day island-hopping adventure, while a comprehensive 13-day tour could include multiple locations and activities.

Physical Ratings and Age Range

Packages should specify a physical rating , indicating the level of activity involved. Tours may accommodate a broad age range , but it’s crucial to verify this fits one’s personal capabilities and travel party’s demographics.

Group Dynamics and Size

Group tours can enhance the travel experience, offering social interactions and guided insights. Tour sizes can affect the experience, so one should check whether they prefer small group intimacy or a large group’s buzz.

Arrival and Departure Logistics

Most tours offer airport pickups and include transport via bus , boat , or flight within the country. Confirm whether these are from a specific airport and if the package includes ferry or alternative transportation options for island transfers.

Accommodation and Meals

Tour packages generally include hotel stays and may offer meal plans. Accommodations can range from budget to luxury, with variance in amenities. Meal inclusion is tour-dependent and should be clarified for budgeting purposes.

Budgeting for Your Trip

The price per day can be a good indicator of a tour’s value. Some packages may require a deposit upfront. To understand total costs, always itemize inclusions like meals, accommodations, and entry fees.

Booking and Cancellation Policies

Cancellation policies vary; look for options with free cancellation for flexibility. For peace of mind, seek tours with a Best Price Guarantee and straightforward booking processes.

By carefully considering these crucial elements, travelers can select tour packages that best suit their preferences and expectations.

Travel Information and Tips

getaway tours philippines

Traveling to the Philippines offers an array of experiences from pristine beaches to vibrant festivals. It’s essential for travelers to be informed about the best times to visit, safety, health guidelines, language, and to consider feedback from those who have had the experience.

Best Time to Visit Philippines

The best time to visit the Philippines is typically during the dry season, from December to February, when the weather is cooler and less humid. March is also a popular time as it signals the start of summer, with many festivals occurring and less likelihood of rain.

Safety and Health Guidelines

Travelers should follow basic safety and health guidelines . This includes staying updated on any travel advisories, securing travel insurance, and following local laws. Regarding health, one should be up-to-date with vaccinations and practice good hygiene to avoid food and waterborne illnesses.

Philippines Travel Guide and Language

A comprehensive Philippines travel guide is invaluable for planning excursions. English is widely spoken, and most tour operators are English-speaking, facilitating smooth communication. Tagalog is the national language, and learning basic phrases can enrich the experience.

Customer Reviews and Feedback

Before booking a trip, reading customer reviews and feedback is crucial for setting realistic expectations. Reviews often highlight the highs and lows of their experiences, assisting future visitors in making informed decisions about destinations and tour packages.

Tour Operators and Packages

When planning a trip to the Philippines, choosing the right tour operator and package is essential to ensure a memorable experience. Not only does it affect the quality and organization of the vacation, but it also influences the overall comfort and adventure travelers can expect.

Comparing Tour Operators

Several reputable tour operators offer an array of Philippines travel packages. Some notable ones include TruTravels, Intro Travel, and Wanderlands Travel, each known for different travel styles and unique itinerary options that cater to various interests and budgets. When comparing providers, it’s important to consider the package offerings’ response time, customer reviews, and comprehensiveness.

Philippines Tour Package Reviews

Tour package reviews are a valuable source for assessing the quality of a Philippines trip. Reviews often highlight the effectiveness of an operator’s organization, the accommodation standards, and the overall experience. For instance, feedback for TruTravels frequently praises organized but relaxed itineraries, while Intro Travel is noted for providing immersive local experiences. Reviews also mention that paying extra for private rooms is often deemed worth the additional cost.

Exploring Beyond the Itinerary

Philippines tour packages often include diverse activities, yet vacation packages can provide flexibility for those wishing to explore beyond the basic itinerary. Personal experiences can be enriched by engaging with local culture and communities, trying out additional adventure sports, or extending stays in particular locations that captivate travelers’ interests.

Special Offers and Discounts

From time to time, tour operators may present special offers and discounts to enhance the value of their Philippines travel packages. Deals can range from early bird discounts to last-minute bookings, with potential savings that can significantly affect a vacation budget.

For example, companies have been known to offer savings of up to $700 on select tours, which travelers can access by fulfilling certain conditions like writing a review post-trip. Travelers should watch the tour operators’ official channels for up-to-date information on such offers.

Guide to the Philippines has really helped me to get around Palawan, and always making sure if I was comfortable. That was really nice! Hotels -Hue hotel was perfect! Very nice and comfortable, and great styling. The food was super, and the staff nice. The breakfast options were amazing!!! -For the budget option i was supposed to have another hotel, but because it was so busy, I had to switch to Marianne hotel. A hotel that is not finished yet, and still under construction, so no pool and quite some noise and building site smells. Room was all right, but the cleaning could have been better (water stains on mirror and such). Breakfast was not so good, the second day I even chose to have it somewhere else. Transport The transport was arranged perfectly! Nice drivers and on time. Tours - underground river was amazing! Otherworldly! We were lucky because of the weather, other ones were canceled. Lunch was ok. Apparently people could choose an add on to this tour, and go ziplining. Some chose to do this, resulting in having to wait for quite a while. Could have done without that, -honda bay tour was super! The lunch they prepared was absolutely lovely, and the guide took well care of us. We saw some lovely islands and beautiful beaches! Good atmosphere! - Tour C El Nido : i was supposed to be on another tour but in all confusion, i ender up on this one. It was too crowded, and the boat with 30 capacity had 43 tourists on it. After asking, they had to get extra life jackets from another boat. It was not comfortable with so many people on the boat and on the islands. It really was mass tourism, but at least I saw the beautiful nature! All in all, I am very happy I had the help of Guide to the Philippines and would definitely book again! But no more El Nido! Thank you!

Notice of itinerary change arrived the day before our tour started! Despite having booked and paid 2 months previous, island flights had not been booked. This meant two boat tours on successive days, no rest day and first destination cut short. Too long at the following hotel ( which had a bad drain smell) and a late flight to Manila , this meant hanging around and then arriving 8pm in the dark. Extremely unprofessional. We asked for assistance to book four days following our island tour, a reservation was made and cancelled on our way back to Manila, we made our own reservation. The on site agents were polite and punctual. The weather was nice.

Alyssa is the best - she made this trip ome of my best life experiences she is dedicated, has alot of humour, is flexible and cool, also really did well particularly with the cotonavirus issues we had, making me feel safe and secure that we would not get stuck, and she ensured we were able to fly home with no issues. Highlights for me were partying in El Nido, the El Nido to Coron expedition which was just full of the most beautiful sunsets, beaches and cocktails! We had great company, bonfires and the whole vibe was just superb, this is exactly what you want when visting the Philippines. It was sad that because of the coronavirus we were not able to stay in siargao but now I have a reason to come back :) Alyssa did amazing it is not easy with a small group but i wouldn't change a thing regarding this tour and i would recommend it to anyone!

Philippines One Life Adventures - 14 Days Tour

Philippines One Life Adventures - 14 Days

This was my first One Life tour and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Exploring this beautiful country with amazing people is definitely an experience I will never forget. The 14 day tour has lots of activities included, giving a great balance of adventure, culture and some of the most beautiful places you will ever visit. Some of the highlights were the cultural day, optional scuba diving in Coron and the private island stays. Getting to see first hand how One Life supports the local communities and to be part of this important work to give back was also a great experience. Big thanks to our tour guide Aileen who was absolutely fantastic! She was friendly, fun and extremely approachable, always doing whatever she could to accommodate the group and their needs. If you are thinking of visiting the Philippines I would highly recommend this tour and I will certainly be looking at booking another trip with One Life! Thank you for the unforgettable memories!

Wanderlands Philippines - 12 Days

I had a wonderful 12 day trip in the Philippines. Our tour guide, Diane, went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. (She even made us the yummiest homemade spring rolls ????) We saw so many beautiful islands, beaches, and sunsets. I would 100% do this trip all over again.

Philippines Island Explorer 13 day Tour

Philippines Island Explorer 13 day

I have just finished my Philippines Intro Tour with Andri and can honestly say it was an experience of a lifetime. Not only did we have two weeks in blissful paradise meeting 14 new worldwide best friends, dining on incredible food and having the best hospitality known to man by locals but also Andri as a leader was beyond incredible; the perfect balance between fun and cool, calm and collected. He was able to make the process so smooth and accommodating, not a single one of us ever had anything to worry about. I want to put a special mention in for his attitude and kindness. As a group we bonded extremely well, so much love and respect between everyone, and Andri was a core part of that; be it lending out his incredible fins, entertaining us with his singing, making sure safety was priority on nights out, being the loveliest with locals allowing us to get to know them on a deeper level or getting a personal best in free diving (17.5m what?!?) and us thinking I would need to take over because he was never returning from the darkness. This man smashed it. I have had the pleasure of doing three previous tours: Bali, Thailand and Vietnam and each tour has built its own reputation to assume the next will never be as good. This one.. was as good if not better in its own right. From canyoneering to white sand beach snorkelling, sunsets with Andri on guitar to scuba’ing shipwrecks, waterfall photo shoots to swimming with turtles ? every moment was magical. Would 1000% recommend to anybody thinking of going. It was that good, I’ve contemplated not only returning but becoming a leader myself. Lauren, London UK

Everything went well, we lost 1 day in Boracay because the flight in Montreal was so late, we stayed 1 night in Japan, good thing breakfast is included. We experienced budol budol in Cebu, we supposed to have pick up, but they told us to line up in the taxi, so we ended up paying the guy. I want to have refund from the day we lost, but CTPH tour said, not refundable anymore + the payment from the taxi. Our trip was fun, we met tourist and the Philippines is so beautiful. We love it❤️

12 Days Ultimate Manila and Cebu - Philippines Island Hopping Tour

12 Days Ultimate Manila and Cebu - Philippines Island Hopping

The trip was amazing and recommended, but for future travelers, we recommend the following changes to the itinerary. 1. On the day you travel from Manila to Bohol, instead of going in three different cars, a flight to Cebu and a Ferry, you should just take a flight from Manila to Bohol airport, which is just 15 min from Bohol South Beach resort. 2. On the day you travel from Dumaguete to Cebu, you should stop at the falls, and spend a night in Moalboal (instead of Cebu), the next morning you should do the island hopping and after that drive to Cebu for 2 nights. That arrangement will save about 7 hours of travel on the day you go to Bohol and another 7 hours driving on the day you travel from Cebu to the falls.

What people love about Asia Tours from Manila

The best tour and great tour guide
Lexias Hostel and Workspace El Nido: The water at the sink did not work. The shower was turned off from 7pm to 7am. And there were rats and rat droppings in some of the rooms. The tour guide (Jovain) was late every day and subliminally tried to push through his own interests, which was very exhausting in the long run. His information about the length of the trip to the next attraction was always wrong. In contrast to other places, the stay in Siargao was relatively long, perhaps 1 - 2 days should be deducted there and distributed to other places. When is Eid al-Fitr 2024 and how is it celebrated?

The three-day festival celebrates the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan by Muslims across the world.

Interactive_Eid_2024_outside image

As a new moon was not sighted on Monday evening after Maghrib prayers, Muslims in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring countries will fast one more day, completing 30 days of Ramadan. The first day of Eid will then be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10.

The first day of Eid al-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon marking the start of the month of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar.

Lunar months last between 29 and 30 days so Muslims usually have to wait until the night before Eid to verify its date.

Other countries follow independent sightings.

When the sighting has been verified, Eid is declared on television, radio stations and at mosques.

How do Muslims celebrate Eid?

Traditionally, Eid is celebrated for three days as an official holiday in Muslim-majority countries. However, the number of holiday days varies by country.

Muslims begin Eid day celebrations by partaking in a prayer service that takes place shortly after dawn, followed by a short sermon.

On their way to the prayer, which is traditionally held in an open area, Muslims recite takbeerat, praising God by saying “Allahu Akbar”, meaning “God is great”.

It is customary to eat something sweet before the prayer, such as date -filled biscuits known as maamoul in the Middle East. This particular festival is known as the “sweet” Eid – and the distribution of sweets is common across the Muslim world.

Muslims usually spend the day visiting relatives and neighbours and accepting sweets as they move around from house to house.

Each country has traditional desserts and sweets that are prepared before Eid or on the morning of the first day.

In some countries, families visit graveyards to offer their respects to departed family members right after the morning prayers.

It is common for Muslim-majority countries to decorate their cities with lights and hold festivities to commemorate the end of the fasting month.

Eid amid the onslaught in Gaza

For some 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza this Eid, this will be the first Muslim religious holiday after more than 33,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks. With little food aid, and very limited water, Gaza’s Eid al-Fitr will be mired in destruction amid the continuing attacks.

What are common Eid greetings?

The most popular greeting is “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid) or “Eid sa’id” (Happy Eid). Eid greetings also vary depending on the country and language.
