2024 Houston Open: Live stream, watch online, TV schedule, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage

The pga tour travels to the lone star state as some players make final preparations for the first major of the year.

A dramatic Florida swing has come and gone, giving way for the return of the 2024 Houston Open. Not on the PGA Tour schedule in 2023, the Houston Open has found its way back on the calendar and will welcome a number of heavy hitters to Memorial Park Golf Course for the fourth time.

Leading the way is the man who owned the Florida swing: Scottie Scheffler. A winner at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship in his last two starts, the world No. 1 has eyes on his third straight victory this week. Scheffler was unable to rattle off three in a row in 2022 but hopes to join players like Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods by winning three consecutive starts.

Scheffler has performed well at Memorial Park in his career and is the heavy favorite to claim the title, but Wyndham Clark may have something to say. A runner-up to Scheffler at both Bay Hill and TPC Sawgrass, the reigning U.S. Open champion has entered the conversation of being a top-five player in the world.

Clark eyes his second win of the season after claiming the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. His fellow Americans Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala and Will Zalatoris all hope to enter the winner's circle for the first time in 2024, with Finau being the last man to win at Memorial Park in the Fall of 2022.

Stephan Jaeger joins the 2024 Masters field with win in Houston Open

Stephan Jaeger won the Texas Children's Houston Open for his first career PGA Tour victory on Sunday at Memorial Park Golf Course.

Jaeger made par on nine consecutive holes on the back nine, shooting 3-under 69 to finish 12 under for the week. Six players finished in a tie for second at 11 under , including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. 

Scheffler had a 5-foot, 4-inch putt to tie Jaeger on the 72nd hole Sunday. Scheffler missed, his first blemish from inside 7 feet on the greens all weekend.

With the PGA Tour victory, Jaeger now has a spot in the Masters field . The 34-year-old from Germany played collegiately at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga before turning pro in 2012.

Will Tiger Woods play in the 2024 Masters?

Tiger Woods is in the field of players for the 2024 Masters , and Saturday he was at Augusta National Golf Club playing with chairman Fred Ridley and Justin Thomas, according to Sports Illustrated's Bob Harig. Last year, Woods questioned how many more Masters appearances he had left in him and withdrew during the third round . He has not publicly said he is not participating in this year's competition.

When does the Masters start?

The 2024 Masters will start on April 11 at Augusta National Golf Club. Tee times are expected to be around 8:30 a.m. ET. The tournament will play through the weekend with the final round on April 14.

DiMarco scoffed at the $2 million purses on the Champions Tour, and fans have had about enough.

Chris DiMarco, a three-time PGA Tour winner, recently joined the Subpar podcast with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz.

While on the show, DiMarco expressed his displeasure with the amount of money players on the PGA Tour Champions make, calling it a “joke.”

“We’re kind of hoping that LIV buys the Champions Tour,” DiMarco said with a snicker.

“Let’s play for a little real money out here. I mean, this is kind of a joke when we’re getting $2 million. There were like seven guys last week from TPC [Sawgrass] that made more money than our purses.”

With the emergence of LIV, fans have been turned off by the amount of money being infused into the sport.

So when a player who has made more than $22 million to play golf during his career cries for more, safe to say it didn’t go over well with fans.

Wish I could only golf for a living for a paltry $2 million a year. Probably payouts have to do more with ratings and TV revenue. LIV forced the PGA Tour to increase their payouts, maybe they need to start a LIV champions tour. — DAVE (@DAVE53567718) March 28, 2024

As the last fan pointed out, there is far less viewership for the Champions Tour. That means there is far less ad revenue, and less money to be distributed to players. It’s quite simple really.

It’s unclear whether DiMarco was serious about the LIV aspect. He does however sound as though he is bitter about the purse sizes on the senior circuit. But that just comes across greedy and tone deaf.

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac threw DiMarco under the bus on social media, pointing to the same thing many fans feel. The conversation around golfers and money has become a problem and if something doesn’t change, could hurt the bottom line of the sport overall.

Moscow Country Club Becomes Latest European Tour Destination

European Tour Properties has extended its portfolio of Destinations by welcoming Moscow Country Club as the 28 th  venue within its extensive network of world-class venues.

Situated only an hour outside of Moscow, the club features Russia’s first 18-hole championship course and will host the Staysure Tour’s VTB Russian Open Golf Championship (Senior) from August 17-19, 2018.

What was considered a frivolous pastime during the time of the Soviets has become the latest trend for the stylish set. These days, there are countless options around Moscow to practice golf, polo, ski, yachting, and other sports alongside 5-star hotels, luxurious country houses, and magnificent villas.

The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. Golf courses are also meeting and socializing spaces where Muscovite tycoons can relax and also seal business deals.

The Moscow Country Club, Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, and Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia are some of the most exclusive and elegant golf courses in Russia. Some of them have made it to the list of Top 15 golf clubs in the world, a source of great prestige for the country.

The first 18-hole golf course built in Russia, Moscow Country Club, hosts the exclusive PGA European Tour. Located just eight miles from the city center, this luxurious facility was created by architect Robert Trent Jones Jr . The design takes advantage of a typical Russian birch and spruce forest to provide a natural environment of extraordinary beauty.

The Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is 18 miles from the heart of Moscow, close to historical monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Designed by famed architects Paul and Dave Thomas , this 18-hole course is part of a complex that includes a yacht club, an equestrian center, and a health and wellness facility. Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is Russia’s version of a classic country club with multiple attractions.

Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club

This park is among the best in Eastern Europe and was awarded the 2014 World Golf Award as the best golf course in Russia. Located 25 miles from Moscow, it is part of a vast complex featuring an 18-hole golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus , a polo club and a mountain ski club with four tracks. The design combines classic Scottish, Alpine, and English features in a dreamy landscape.

Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia

Less than 60 miles from Moscow, this golf course with a definite Scottish design is the only one in Russia recognized as a PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) from Britain and Ireland. Located in an ecologically pristine area on the banks of the Volga River, the Zavidovo Golf Club embodies the spirit and appearance of the legendary Scottish golf courses. Its many springs and streams, hills, forests, swamps and lakes justify its reputation as a very demanding circuit. Last year, it entered the exclusive club of the 15 best golf courses in the world.   ■
