In southeastern Europe, the idyllic islands of Greece sit amidst the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, encompassing the Aegean Sea. As the cradle of ancient civilization, Greece is home to many ancient ruins like the Acropolis of Athens in the heart of Ancient Greece. In the southern part of the Aegean Sea, Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and home to the main Bronze Age archaeological site, the Palace of Knossos, the home of the Minotaur. In the northern part of the Aegean Sea, Mykonos offers sun-kissed, sandy beaches, beach clubs and vibrant nightlife. South of Mykonos, the white-washed buildings of Santorini are perched atop cliffs that sit gracefully against the azure skies, offering one-of-a-kind views. Greece is a living canvas of awe-inspiring history and natural splendor. Embark on a journey through both the ancient wonders and contemporary delights, and taste the country's rich culinary heritage with flavorful Mediterranean dishes.

Sailing Greece - Santorini to Santorini
I had to postpone my sailing trip around the Greek Islands with friends from the USA for next year so booked my trip with G Adventures at the last minute. I was a little apprehensive about spending 10 days on a yacht with people that I did not know but this trip ended up as being of the best vacations I had ever taken. Erwin, the skipper was first class always taking safety, comfort and well being of his passengers as top priorities. The yacht was always spotless, the planning and organization of each day exceptional. There was a large range in age for the group but Erwin took into account each of our expectations and needs which were more than exceeded. I would certainly recommend G Adventures again and I am looking to travel with you again in the very near future.
Greece Sailing Adventure: Cyclades Islands
Had an amazing time, the tour was very well organized, the boat very comfortable for the 12 people that traveled in it. We met some wonderful people from around the world, we visited amazing places, our tour guide George was very nice and knowledgeable and always went the extra mile to organize everything perfectly for us. The experience of a lifetime!!

Best of Greece
i can confidently say this trip would not have been the same without the help and guidance from this tour group. no matter the time they always had quick and helpful responses. everything was organized and any change was fixed immediately. excellent customer service. absolutely beautiful hotels, will 100% be back to the harmony boutique in mykonos and the athens gate they were in the absolute perfect location just around the corner from everything you could ask for.
Bewitching Greece with All Inclusive beach stay
We did experience some glitches but Wanderful was quick to correct the and even reimbursed a tour we missed due to a 3rd party problem. They were easy to work with.
Greek Island Hopping | SemiPrivate with 4* Hotels | 11 Days
The arrangements were seamless and took all the hassle out of the trip so we could just relax and enjoy. Personal touch such as hand delivery of documents and attention to detail such as breakfast boxes for an early start, were special . All worth every penny
The Labyrinth of Crete
I cannot speak more highly of Destination Services. Given the current situation with Covid, this tour was technically cancelled, however because I currently live in Germany and had booked my flight, I was still going to Crete. Instead of giving me a refund and letting me just figure things out, Destination Services went out of their way to ensure that I recieved as much of the tour I had scheduled as possible, we had a wonderful time, we could not be happier with Destination Services and the scheduled activities were really great, we really loved the off roading trip.
Treasures of Crete
Everything was well coordinated. Dimitri, the coordinator, was always reachable. He answered all our questions and planned the transfers from and to the airport at times suitable to our plans. The hotel was quiet but close to the water. No detail was left untied. We had a great time!!!
Greek Island Explorer (10 Days)
Our guide raised the rating! The included meal in Mykonos was top notch but the one in Santorini (at our hotel) was substandard. Athens lodging best of 3 hotels Mykonos lodging was good except lack of hot water for two days Santorini lodging was below expectation (except pool was great)
Cultural Athens & Island Hopping Mykonos - Santorini (Self-guided)
I’ll pick ups were on time. All accommodations were beautiful and everyone was friendly. I will do this again

Greek Island Hopper (10 Days)
The tour was quite a good mix of organised and leisure time, but the last day could have been managed better. We arrived at Oia about half an hour before sunset, had no direction as to where to see the sunset from, and no time to experience this beautiful town. Very dissapointed in that.
- €100 deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.
Incredible Crete!
The tour of Crete was indeed Incredible due to two great gentlemen! RG and Kostintinos displayed the utmost professionalism and class as they drove us all through the island of Crete. They were very genuine and thoughtful to Michele and I throughout the entire trip. They both knew that we were eager to experience and learn about Crete. Michele and I wanted to see Crete through the eyes of the locals that’s reside there and RG and Kostas delivered! We went off the grid and had experiences with Epos Tours that we never could have planned ourselves. Kostas is a wealth of information regarding the culture and history of Crete. From the minute you meet these two men you will bond and have the best travel experience ever! Miss you both and thanks again!

What people love about Greek Islands Tours
Everything was perfect and well planed out since the start, just stick to the group and your schedule. Met many wonderful people. Dilimar was the best, so helpful and attentive all days of the trip. Thank you ❤️ A
Loved this sailing adventure and plan to do another one in the near future. The Captain Marius was excellent with a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of sailing and taking care of his passengers. Our group gelled well and we all had fun swimming, eating on board and going out to dinner and playing cards. I would definitely do this adventure again
Mia our leader gets 10/10! We were lucky to have her as our guide. She made everything easy and we saw so much in a short time. This has been a memorable trip. It's my first Intrepid tour. I will definitely be doing more and will recommend them to my friends!! Thanks Intrepid

Why should you book a vacation package to Greece?
If you intend to visit in the near future, it's well worth considering Greece vacation packages. By booking hotels, flights and vehicle rentals together, you can make seeing the Acropolis or relaxing on secluded island beaches much cheaper.
And with a little extra cash, you can stock up on retsina or Greek pottery, add an extra round of golf to your schedule or splash out on gourmet meals. So why not explore our Greece travel deals?
When should you book a vacation package to Greece?
During the peak summer months, Greece becomes one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world, with over 22 million arrivals every year. So if you want to find a budget Greece package vacation, try to avoid the period between June and September.
Instead, it makes sense to aim for late spring or the fall. April and June should ensure fine weather, and October is warm as well. And with mild winter temperatures an Athens sightseeing break in December or January can also be very enjoyable.
Where should you stay in Greece during your vacation?
For any vacation type in greece:.
Rhodes' Cathrin Hotel is a great candidate for anyone's vacation accommodation. Situated on Faliraki's main street, it's 9 minutes walk from the beach and boasts gyms, pools and plenty of parking. Taxis from Rhodes Airport take just 18 minutes to get there, too.
If you need a solid all-rounder in Athens, the Athens Marriott fits the bill. Located near the port, you can get into town easily but also escape to the islands if the weather is too warm. It's around 40 minutes by road from Athens International Airport.
For family vacations in Greece:
Situated on Corfu, the Aquis Pelekas Beach Hotel is perfect for families who need access to a pristine beach, and also offers a lively kids' club. Shuttle bus or road transfers from the airport take around 25 minutes.

For romantic vacations in Greece:
With private bungalows and beautiful views, the Dessolle Mirabello vacation village in Agios Nikolaos is one of Crete's most romantic refuges, with great hiking and plenty to do on site. It's around 90 minutes' drive from Heraklion airport.
Close to the Acropolis and the quaint Plaka neighborhood, the Acropolis Select is a stylish spot with comfort to spare (and free drinks for all arrivals). Traveling from the airport is simple, as Syngrou-Fix metro station is 200 meters away.
For luxury vacations in Greece:
Built in a lavish ancient Greek style, Tharroe of Mykonos commands gorgeous sea views, has great access to the island's old town, and is only 2 miles from Mykonos Airport.
The Apostolata Island Resort on Kefalonia is a luxury spa retreat built onto a steep hillside on the island's southern coast. If you want total relaxation, nowhere comes close. Taxis from the airport should take about 30 minutes.
For budget vacations in Greece:
If you want an affordable break on the island of Rhodes, Kalithea Sun & Sky is ideal. Set in an attractive pine forest, it's just a few hundred meters from the sea, and the airport is only 15 miles away.
Affordable and comfortable, the Amazones Villas in Malia place vacationers in one of Crete's liveliest resorts, but are set aside from the center of town, so peace and quiet is assured. Shuttles run from Heraklion to Malia and the transfer won't take over an hour.

The Greek Islands Vacation Packages
Beautiful beaches offering island silhouettes on the horizon; transparent blue seas and friendly beach bars plus atmospheric villages and monasteries, archaeological treasures, world-class museums and a laid-back lifestyle pursued mostly in public, the Greek Islands have it all! The islands have unique archeological sites, a distinctive architectural heritage and the captivating local traditions of a centuries-old and complex civilization. And despite tourist development, the Greek islands have not lost their original character! Spreading in two main seas, the Aegean and the Ionian, the Greek islands are divided into smaller groups. The most popular island group is the Cyclades islands: Santorini, Mykonos and Paros with the typical Cycladic architecture. The islands of Dodecanese and Ionian offer their own charm as well: Rhodes, Kos, Corfu and Kefalonia and then to the south is Crete, the largest of them all.

Greek Islands
Island Groups
The Cyclades Islands (meaning `circular islands`) are the most famous island group in the Aegean Sea that comprise some of the most stunning islands in the world!
The Ionian Islands is a cluster of six isles that are linked in a chain down the west coast of Greece. It is not only stunningly scenic but also has a character of its own that is set apart from other Greek islands.
Only a short distance from Turkey`s Turquoise Coast in the southeastern Aegean, the Dodecanese chain of islands lies in what is called the sunniest corner of Greece. With twelve larger islands and numerous smaller uninhabited islands and islets, the Dodecanese Islands have the right mix of tourism and tradition, a fascinating history, two UNESCO World Heritage sites and stunning landscapes.
The Saronic islands, which include Hydra and Aegina, are the islands closest to Athens in Greece. This group of islands is a small, relatively sheltered gulf between Attica and the Peloponnese. You could describe them as “the islands off Athens”. There are a total of about 20 islands and islets in the Saronic Gulf, of which only 6 are inhabited. These islands are best known for their rich history, wealthy captains, neoclassical architecture and cosmopolitan character.

Experiences & Adventures
Food is a huge part of Greek culture. The cuisine offers an incredibly rich and diverse array of foods and beverages that are the culmination of thousands of years of living, cooking, and eating. Overall, the food always incorporates much more than just flavors and dishes. It’s all about the fresh ingredients, the lengthy procedure involved in preparing the food, and the culture of sharing dishes with others.
The country is a bit of a mystery to many wine drinkers, who may be limited by their knowledge of the region, grape varieties, or simply the pronunciation. However, one visit to Greece, sipping dry white wine of Santorini Island, sampling rosé on a Peloponnese road trip, indulging in sparkling wines in the mountainous north, or discovering the reds of Crete: there is something for every taste.
Western civilization was born in Greece over 4,000 years ago. It therefore comes as no surprise that this ancient land is home to 18 amazingly unique UNESCO Sites to visit. From Bronze Age citadels and the sacred Acropolis of Athens (on which stands the Parthenon, chosen by UNESCO as its official emblem), to Byzantine monasteries and Venetian fortresses, Greece’s ongoing efforts to protect and curate its sites and monuments is testament to the tireless work of archaeologists, conservators and heritage managers across the country.
Greece is a country where historic ruins, volcanic cliffs, and friendly locals meet the blue Mediterranean Sea. It`s the whole package spread out amongst thousands of gorgeous islands. Discover the historical heritage on a major European capital in Athens before taking in the whitewashed villages of the islands where you`ll find ample opportunities to enjoy swimming, eating and gazing at the deep-blue Aegean.

Best time to visit.
Greece generally has a mild, Mediterranean climate, with July and August being the busiest months for tourism. With warm weather and plentiful sunshine, this is a great time for visiting the islands, swimming in the sea and lazing on the beach. Summers are generally hot and dry, with daytime temperatures rising to 85°-100°F ( 30°-38°C ).
By mid-September, temperatures begin to fall and crowds thin, but it can still be hot. The weather remains generally calm and balmy well into October. If you can't get to Greece in the spring, and beaches are not your primary goal, this is a fine time to visit. By late October, ferry service and flights are cutting back and most facilities on the islands begin to close for the winter. But the cooler atmosphere makes Athens and the mainland all the more pleasant.

Culture and customs
Greece’s culture is very much influenced by its ancient past. The hallmarks of Western medicine, philosophy, drama, and government can all be attributed to the mighty ancient Greek civilization – which is an incredible source of national pride. Traditional music and dance are still valued and used to commemorate celebrations throughout the year. The circle dance, for instance, dates to the Byzantine period. Even contemporary cuisine has its roots in ancient tradition.
Greeks place a high amount of value on ‘kefi’, which loosely translates to joy or passion. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest. For this reason, meals are leisurely and social gatherings are frequent, typically involving drinking, dancing and lively discussion. Common Greek customs, like smashing plates and dancing with a glass of water on your head, are considered expressions of kefi.
With more than 90% of the population being Greek Orthodox, religion plays an important part in everyday life. Religious festivals and ceremonies are commonplace, both in the mainland cities and small rural villages. Christmas and Easter are particularly important dates on the calendar, although religious celebrations are not limited to these times as there are daily, weekly and annual rites and rituals performed all throughout Greece’s mainland and islands.
Food and drink
Greek cuisine favors simplicity and relies primarily on fresh local produce. Think vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains; grilled meats and fresh fish; parsley, garlic, dill, and mint; and punchy cheeses such as feta, kefalotyri, and halloumi. Drinks-wise, locals will savor a Greek coffee at a kafeneio (coffeehouse) or glass of anise-flavored ouzo (diluted with water) at an ouzeri – along with a couple of mezedhes (appetizers) – for hours. There’s also tsipouru (fermented distilled grape skins), raki (a tsipouru from Crete), and retsina (white wine flavored with pine resin).

Geography and environment
Sharing land borders with Albania , Bulgaria , Turkey, and Macedonia , Greece is located in Southern Europe and is surrounded by the Ionian, Mediterranean, and Aegean Seas. Consisting of the mainland peninsula and an archipelago of more than 3000 islands, Greece is typically mountainous, containing peaks, karsts, and canyons all over. Despite the mountainous topography, there is much arable land in Greece with small-scale farms successfully producing olives, peaches, melons, grapes, tomatoes, and grain for export and local use.
Greece’s highest peak, Mount Olympus, is famed for being the dwelling place of the 12 ancient gods in Greek mythology. The islands are mostly uninhabited and are formed in small chains (called archipelagos) within the Aegean Sea. Santorini , Mykonos, and Corfu are among the more popular islands with tourists, though Crete and Evia are the largest islands.
History and government
Early history.
The early history of Greece is among the world’s most fascinating, and like the other ancient civilizations of Egypt and Rome, Greece has many monuments still standing after centuries. The Greeks have been both the conquerors and the conquered, withstood the Plague and other natural disasters, and birthed some of the greatest literature, scientific developments, mathematical formulas, and thought movements.
Recent history
In 1821, the Greeks fought against Ottoman rule during the Greek War of Independence, which resulted in Greece being recognized as an autonomous region in 1828. This was a time of great upheaval for the Greek people, with political assassinations, battles, and plundering. After autonomy was granted, many years of change followed, with continued war and confrontation alongside intermittent periods of relative peace. The two World Wars had a profound effect on Greece, with many battles fought in Greece during the early 1940s (during the Axis occupation). Athens was liberated from this occupation in 1944 and the Greek government was restored. Greece joined the United Nations (as a founding member) in 1945 and NATO in 1952. During this time, many Greeks started moving to other parts of the world in a mass wave of widespread migration. The USA , Australia, and Europe were popular destinations in this move, which saw hundreds of thousands of Greeks immigrate to other lands. In 2004, Athens successfully hosted the Summer Olympics once again. Yet more recently, Greece has come under the shadow of the European debt crisis which has crippled the economy. Despite this, the spirit of the Greek people endures as it has for eons.

10. Sail around Greece
You know those moments in life when you wonder, is this even real? On a sailing trip in Greece’s Cyclades Islands, that happens a lot. Learn more about our sailing tour in Greece .
From public markets and designer boutiques to European chain stores, Greece has every aspect of retail cornered.
If you are in the market for traditional Greek handicrafts, consider supporting the local economy by purchasing goods in the region that produces them. This includes silver from Ioannina; ceramics from Sifnos and Skopelos; and embroidery and lace from Crete, the Ionian Islands, Rhodes, and Skiros.
Shopping hours vary throughout Greece. Stores in large cities and tourist areas are typically open from 9 am to 9 pm, while shops in other areas close around 2 or 3 pm and reopen between 6 and 9 pm three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Most stores are closed on Sundays.
Things to buy in Greece
1. Komboloi (Worry Beads)
These stress-relieving resin beads are meant to be turned through your fingers as you muse over life. With roots deep in ancient Greek cultural tradition, they make a great souvenir for friends wanting a slice of authentic Greece.
2. Botanical Skincare
Greece is home to many brands of premium, organic skincare. Stock up on luxurious olive oil soap or enriching yogurt-based moisturizers before you head home.
Travel safely and ward off evil by attaching a Mati (an ‘Evil Eye’) to your backpack. They’re cheap, available almost everywhere in Greece, and are a great reminder of your travels in the Aegean.
Whether you prefer gold, silver, amber resin or colorful beads, Greece has a huge variety of jewelry on offer. Prices are typically lower than in many other parts of the world, so it’s likely you’ll be able to snap up a few bargains.
Festivals and events in Greece
The Greeks have been partying since the dawn of Western civilization. Take Epicurus – he dedicated his life to seeking out pleasure, creating a philosophy now known as Epicureanism. As you travel through Greece you’ll encounter religious celebrations – Greek Orthodox is the main player here – that span the nation, as well as smaller celebrations that are regional affairs or isolated to particular islands. Expect food, drink, dancing and music, and plenty of throwbacks to the ancient Greeks. The only Greek tragedy is that you can’t fit every festival in.

Greece is best experienced outside of winter for most travelers. The best time of year depends on what kind of holiday you’re after – whether you’re more interested in soaking up the island sun or ancient history.

Citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, the UK and other member countries of the EU and Schengen area are included under this arrangement. Other countries do require a visa to visit Greece.
Visas are the responsibility of the individual traveler. Entry requirements can change at any time, so it's important that you check for the latest information. Please visit the relevant consular website of the country or countries you’re visiting for detailed and up-to-date visa information specific to your nationality. Check the Essential Trip Information section of the itinerary for more information.

Flushable, Western-style toilets are the norm in Greece. You may need to pay a small fee to use public toilets in some areas. Keep in mind that the Greek plumbing system isn’t the greatest and you may be asked to put toilet paper in the trash rather than flushing it.
What will it cost for a...?

Is Greece accessible for travelers with disabilities?
Intrepid is committed to making travel widely accessible, regardless of ability or disability. That’s why we do our best to help as many people see the world as possible, regardless of any physical or mental limitations they might have. We’re always happy to talk to travelers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them towards the most suitable itinerary for their needs and, where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.
Though access to sights and hotels has improved in Athens over recent years, Greece is a difficult destination for travelers with disabilities. It’s a hilly, rocky place covered in cobblestones, particularly on the islands, and the economic situation has meant that there are minimal public funds to improve the situation.
If you do live with a visual, hearing, or other impairment, let your booking agent or group leader know early on so they’re aware and suitable arrangements can be made. As a general rule, knowing some common words in the local language, carrying a written itinerary with you, and taking to the streets in a group, rather than solo, can help make your travel experience the best it can be.

What to pack for Greece will depend on where you're going and what time of year you decide to visit. Comfortable walking shoes are essential all year round, as is a jumper in case a cool wind blows.
If you visit in summer, you’ll need light, breathable clothing, sunglasses, a hat, swimwear and sandals.
If you’re heading to the mountains on the mainland, it’s best to be prepared for everything as the weather can change quickly.
What are some common phrases to learn before traveling to Greece?
Greek is a very difficult language to learn. However, it's easy enough to master a couple of common words such as 'hello' (yah-soo) and 'please' (para-kah-LOE). Not only will this help you communicate with the locals, but it'll allow you to form a deeper connection to the places you're visiting and the people you meet along the way.

Depending on which trip you're on while in Greece, you may find yourself traveling by:

The study was conducted by consumer watchdog Which? by analysing 4,558 package holidays from the UK's top tour operators.

An interesting finding was that holiday hotspots known for being budget-friendly, like Turkey and Bulgaria, were noticeably missing from the top spots in the lineup.
As an alternative to the more well-known Greek island s, Thassos is an excellent destination for Brits looking for a European holiday.
Thassos offers a tranquil escape from the crowds and is well-known for its pristine beaches, beautiful landscape, and traditional Greek charm.
The island is said to be home to some of the country's "most picturesque" towns and incredible golden sand beaches along the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea .
When it comes to beaches, Thassos offers anything from relaxing sunbathing spots to watersports and diving opportunities.
With its volcanically developed underwater landscape and pristine blue waters, Thassos offers diving opportunities for beginners to more advanced divers.
The Pefkari Reef, with a maximum depth of 32 feet, is an unmissable dive for both beginners and advanced divers.
You could encounter up to eight wildlife species, including jackfishes, scorpionfishes and tritons.
Meanwhile, Makryammos Beach is one of the best beaches on the island, and it's 1.2 miles from the resort's centre.
The Blue Flag beach boasts about a mile of golden sand and charges a small fee of 3 euros (£2.59) to keep it as clean as possible for everyone to enjoy.
The beach can get busy, especially during the summer, but it's also a great starting point to hire a motorboat to explore some of the island's beautiful hidden coves.
Despite the perception that families and couples are the main visitors, Thassos is also great for younger holidaymakers looking for the perfect balance between relaxation and partying.
Over the summer months, there are plenty of bars, clubs and beach parties happening across the island.
The largest villages, including the capital Thassos Town, Potos, Limenaria, Skala Potamia, and Golden Beach, naturally have the best nightlife.
As with the package holidays, drinks in Thassos are also relatively cheap.
A beer typically costs about 4.50 euros (£3.89), a glass of wine is about 5-7 euros (£4.30 to £6), while cocktails start at 7 euros (£6).
Locals also say there are plenty of discounts around the island, such as "ladies night" and "happy hour."
Away from the beaches and nightlife, you could walk to the top of Mount Ipsarion for some of the best views of the island or wander around the quaint villages of Panagia and Theologos.
These untouched villages are renowned for their ancient architecture, narrow streets, and friendly locals.
For more destination inspiration, we also found the Turkish holiday destination fans claim also is the ‘Maldives of the Mediterranean’ .
Plus, we’ve also revealed the tiny Italian island only locals know about — it’s as good as Capri but much cheaper.

Best time for travel greece island hopper featuring athens, mykonos and santorini.
While just about any month is great to visit Greece, there are a few prime times of the year for the Greece Island Hopper tour. Here are some recommendations from our destination experts.
Spring: Santorini, Mykonos, and other Greek islands open to tourists in mid- to late April. While the weather is mild, most find the beaches are still chilly for swimming or sunbathing. Minimal crowds yield maximum photo opportunities.
Summer: July and August in Greece are hot! (In extreme heat, it’s possible for the Acropolis to be closed during the hottest hours of the day to protect workers and visitors.) During the summer season, tours only run in early July and late August, when temperatures aren’t as extreme. It’s during these months when many Greeks and other Europeans vacation here, too, making it a busy time to visit.
Fall: With kids back to school, September and October are great times to go on tour. Greece remains very busy, as the tourist season on Santorini and Mykonos extends into October, and the water temperatures offer perfect swimming conditions. There may still be crowds at the Acropolis and other popular sites along the way.

Extend your tour with a 3-night stay in Istanbul, Turkey's most popular city. Istanbul is a central hub for intermingling cultures and legendary architecture. As the former capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, walk in the footsteps of centuries of travelers before you. From the towering Hagia Sophia to the lively Grand Bazaar and Spice Market, you’ll find an indescribable blend of nostalgia and modernity. Full of authentic flavors and legendary cultures, a trip to Turkey is not one you’ll soon forget. Your other option is to book a post stay? Hosted You’re accompanied by a Tour Manager part of the time, for some guided excursions. The rest of the time, you’re at leisure to explore the destination your own way.
- Athens - Istanbul, Turkey
- Fly to Istanbul, Turkey’s most popular city. Considered to be the bridge between the East and the West, Istanbul is a central hub for intermingling cultures, complicated history, and legendary architecture. The city was the former capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires – which is seen through its blend of times-gone-by nostalgia and ever-evolving modernity. This evening, kick-start your exploration of Istanbul by sampling Turkish cuisine during dinner at a local restaurant.
- Discover the city with a local guide. Start your morning with a visit to the Basilica Cistern, the largest of ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city. Continue on to the Blue Mosque,* where vibrant blue tiles line the building’s opulent interior walls. Then, visit Topkapi Palace, former home to the Ottoman Sultans. After free time for lunch, continue exploring Istanbul with your local expert. Make your way through the lively Grand Bazaar and Spice Market, surrounding yourself with artisan crafts, buzzing energy, and exciting vendors. Enjoy an evening at leisure.
- This morning, take in the high-rises and minarets of Istanbul’s majestic skyline as you sail between two continents during a cruise of the Bosphorus Strait, which divides Europe from Asia. The remainder of the day is yours to spend however you choose! Explore the local boutiques or maybe taste the culture through Turkish favorites. Perhaps you will choose to go on an optional excursion to a Hammam Turkish bath, where you’ll enjoy an authentic scrub and foam bath.

Hotel-Titania Hotel Athens
Immerse yourself in the flavors of the Cycladic Islands during a tour of Mykonos’ culinary gems. Begin the morning at a local farm where you learn about the traditions and history of cheese making, a craft that in Mykonos achieves almost the status of a local art form with secrets passed down through the generations. Sample Xinotiro, Kopanisti, and Vrasto cheeses and freshly-made yogurt, all produced at the farm. Later, explore more flavors of the island at a local bakery before visiting Ano Mera, a traditional rural village with picturesque whitewashed chapels and iconic blue trimmings.
Take a step into the past with a half-day excursion to the island of Delos, the fabled birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. After a quick 30-minute boat ride, allow your guide to introduce you to this sprawling UNESCO site. See how the Greek myths intertwine with prehistoric ruins, passing through narrow streets from the Hellenistic age. Tour the awe-inspiring House of Dionysus, a relic from the 4th-century BC containing ancient mosaics and preserved columns. Peruse the Temple of Apollo, the Sacred Lake, and the guardian Naxian Lions with your guide before enjoying time to explore independently. Take in views of the Sacred Island of Delos as you ferry back to Mykonos.
Make the most of a day at leisure and see all that Greece has to offer with an island-hopping adventure! Set sail for the tiny islet of Nea Kameni – an uninhabited island that is formed on an active volcano. Make your way up the side of the still-active volcano with your local guide, pausing at the top of the crater for unparalleled views. After exploring, return to the boat to set off for your next destination – Palea Kameni. Similar to Nea Kameni, this islet is also of volcanic descent. Jump into the water and swim to the island’s rejuvenating hot springs, where you will find ethereal sulfuric waters and therapeutic mud - or choose to relax on the boat. Continue on to Thirassia, an authentic island that embodies the traditional culture of Greece. Enjoy a Greek buffet onboard and take in an unparalleled view of the island as you dine. After dinner, make a stop close to Oia as the sun sets. Marvel as the sky turns shades of orange and gold before sailing back to port.
Join a local expert in Athens and explore the city's world-renowned sites.
