TRAVEL JORDAN AGENCY

Jordan classic tour (8 days - 7 nights).

Explore  Jordan’s famous jewel Petra and experience the stunning sites of Jordan in eight days.

This trip will cover: Petra, Wadi Rum, The Dead Sea, Jerash, Amman, Ajloun, Karak, Dana, Aqaba, Madaba, and Mount Nebo.

On this trip, you will have the chance to experience the rich cultural heritage and spectacular scenery that Jordan has to offer.

Your journey will take you to the beautifully preserved city of Jerash that lies to the north; the biblical site of Mount Nebo; Petra (the city carved into sandstone that has been lost to the outside world and recently added to the New Seven Wonders of the World), Wadi Rum; and the magical waters of the Dead Sea.

Please click on any day of the itinerary below for more information.

Upon your arrival, one of our team members will be expecting you (with a sign) at Queen Alia International Airport arrivals hall.

After initial greetings, you will be driven to your designated hotel in Amman (the drive should take no more than 30 minutes).

After check-in at the hotel, we will leave you to rest, relax and freshen up so you can be ready for the next day to embark on your journey.

After breakfast, we start out by heading north where we will visit our first spectacular site, Ajloun Castle. The drive should take around one and a half hours, and we will be covering 73 kilometres (passing the city of Jerash). Something that you will most certainly notice while driving towards Ajloun is how the landscape of Jordan changes from desert in the south, to lush green vegetation made up of pine tree forests and olive groves in the north. This is just one of the many characteristics of Jordan that makes it a wonderfully unique country.

The original castle was built by the nephew of the great military leader Salah ad-Din al Ayyubi in 1184–85 as a military fortress to defend against Crusaders, as well as to protect valuable trade routes between Jordan and Syria.

The castle is an excellent example of medieval Arab-Islamic military architecture. The first thing you will notice as you are approaching Ajloun Castle are the massive walls and the five looming towers.

The castle was originally constructed with four towers, and in 1215 AD extended to include a fifth tower and a drawbridge.

You will cross over this medieval bridge, which allows you access across the moat and into the castle. Once inside you will find a maze of curved passageways; winding staircases; long ramps; huge rooms that functioned as dining halls; residences; and castle stables. From the top of the castle, you will enjoy panoramic views of the hilltops along the Jordan Valley.

Ajloun Castle entrance fee: 1 Jordanian dinar.

After you are satisfied with your castle visit, we will drive back towards the city of Jerash (approximately 45 minutes). Jerash contains the most well preserved Roman settlement in all of the Middle East and you will get a chance to gaze upon this special place that has survived thousands of years.

  • Hadrian's Arch:  you will enter the ancient Roman city through this oval arch. Built in 129 AD to mark Emperor Hadrian's visit, this stunning piece of architecture is considered as magnificent as the arch in the forum in Rome.
  • Hippodrome:  as you pass through the arch, to your left you will find the hippodrome or ‘circus.’ The hippodrome, a stadium-like structure was used for horse and chariot races by the ancient Greeks and Romans. There is currently a show ( The Roman Army and Chariot Experience ) that replicates the events that took place here centuries ago. Guests interested in experiencing the show can find more information below.
  • Forum  ( Oval Plaza ): an asymmetrical plaza at the beginning of the column-laden street that runs the length of the city. It was once lined with the city's major buildings, shops, and residences.
  • Agora : this was the city's main food market. Here you will see the nymphaeum (or central fountain).
  • Nymphaeum : an ornate public fountain that was decorated with lions’ head motifs and dedicated to the nymphs—mythological female deities of nature.
  • Temple of Artemis : these impressive ruins are all that’s left of the temple dedicated to the patron goddess of the city, Artemis.
  • South Theatre : one of the only two theatres in Jerash to survive, the South Theatre is the largest. Here you will see a 1st century amphitheatre that seats up to 3,000. If you’re lucky, you may catch the Jordanian military band playing there.
  • Jerash Archaeological Museum : Jerash was a city hidden under centuries of sand that has only begun to be excavated in the last 70 years. The museum features a collection of artefacts found during these various excavations including coins, statues and sarcophagi.

Jerash City entrance fee: 8 Jordanian dinars.

The epic hippodrome race can now be seen for the first time in over a thousand years. Guests will enjoy the authentic replicas of Roman Chariots racing in the stadium.

LIVE THE EXPERIENCE!

Show Details:

Twice-daily shows:

Wednesday – Thursday at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm

Fridays - one show only at 10:00 am

The performances last approximately 45 minutes.

Ticket fee: 12 Jordanian dinars.

Afterwards, you will be driven back to Amman to visit the Citadel. It is found on top of an L-shaped mountain that will give you a breath-taking view of the seven mountains that enfold Amman. This is a very significant site because it has been inhabited for the last 7,000 years.

  • Temple of Hercules: built between 162 and 166 AD, this immense structure dedicated to Hercules is larger than any of the temples in Rome.
  • Byzantine Church:  a basilica built between the 5th and 6th centuries.
  • Umayyad Mosque:  the remains of the Umayyad governor’s palace mosque dating from the 8th century.
  • Dome of the Vestibule:  A modern recreation of the interior of the dome of the Umayyad Vestibule.

Amman Citadel entrance fee: 2 Jordanian dinars.

We will now head off to our last site of the day, the Roman Amphitheatre, which can be viewed from the citadel. A large and steeply raked theatre that could seat approximately 6,000 people and was built into the hillside facing north, to keep the sun off spectators.

Amman Roman Amphitheatre entrance fee: 1 Jordanian dinar.

After your second day of discovering Jerash and Ajloun, you will be taken back to your hotel to refresh and get ready for another day full of distinctive sites.

After breakfast, we will drive south, going around Madaba and towards Mount Nebo.

Mount Nebo is where you can stand in Moses’s shoes when he first gazed upon the ‘Promised Land’. The area is located at the summit and where you will undoubtedly feel a surge of calm and peace flow through you. On a clear day, you will be able to see Bethlehem, Jericho and the Holy City of Jerusalem, as well as the Dead Sea. The view is powerful, special, and something you will surely never forget.

Mount Nebo entrance fee: 1 Jordanian dinar.

Coming down from Mount Nebo, we head back towards Madaba. Your guide will now take you to experience Jordan Jewel for Art & Mosaic. Here you will have the chance to visit their workshop and learn about the intricately detailed craftwork that goes into the production of mosaics and other interesting arts of this region.

Travelling to Madaba only takes ten minutes and it is a city known for its spectacular Byzantine era mosaics. Possibly the most famous of these mosaics lies within the 19th century Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George. Unearthed in 1864, this map constructed in the 6th century once contained millions of mosaic pieces and depicts lands from Palestine to Egypt. Today one third of the map survives and shows the earliest surviving representation of the city of Jerusalem.

Madaba Saint George church entrance fee: 1 Jordanian dinar.

After Madaba we follow the path of the ancient trade route that began in Egypt and travelled all the way up to Damascus (a route that had been used by the Nabateans to bring spices and frankincense from southern Arabia). This route was also used for the important pilgrimage of both Muslims and Christians.

As you drive along the King’s Highway, you will notice the different geological and altitude changes. We will begin driving at 400 metres below sea level, to a point of around 1,400 metres above sea level. At the top, the land opens up before you and you are presented with spectacular views of open farmland, plateaus, and deep ravines. It is a glorious and moving sight.

Prior to our next site, Karak, you will be going around the Wadi Mujib dam on a very steep road that offers one of the best views this part of the country has to offer.

Upon your arrival in the town of Karak, we visit one of the largest Crusader fortresses in the Levant region.

Karak was once a powerful kingdom situated on a hilltop 1,000 metres above sea level. Karak is surrounded on three sides by a deep valley, and a town was built on a triangular plateau around the castle. The city’s building layout has been dated back to the 19th century, specifically the Ottoman Empire Period. The narrow streets and crumbling buildings give you a sense of walking through history.

The view from the top of the fortress is stunning. Far below, you’ll glimpse blocks of farmland of various colours. In the distance, the Dead Sea sparkles; a cool breeze caresses your face as you look out and try to imagine a world of long ago.

Karak Castle entrance fee: 1 Jordanian dinar.

Following your tour of Karak, we continue on the King’s Highway and travel to areas with dazzling views of mountaintops and gaping valleys. Experiencing these views will make you feel like you’re on top of the world.

The King’s Highway will lead us to Tafilah (a town that has been built by the Edomites under the name Tophel) with olive and fig trees, and grape vines alongside the road. In recent history, T.E. Lawrence, during the Arab revolt, destroyed a Turkish castle near the city.

As we approach higher land, we reach the village of Dana. Here, we will stop at a vantage point that overlooks a 500 year old village, the Dana Biosphere Reserve, and Wadi Araba.

We will continue our drive to Wadi Musa (Valley of Moses) and stop by the Prophet Moses’s spring that comes from underneath a rock. History claims that Moses’s staff struck this rock, and the Nabateans then built channels and brought the water down into Petra.

With this, we conclude another long but exciting day, where we have experienced places of faith and magnificent landscapes. We will take you to your hotel so you will be rested for a day of exploring the Rose City of Petra.

The British Broadcasting Channel (BBC) has listed Petra as “one of the 40 places you have to see before you die,” and indeed we agree.

Petra is a city that was lost for centuries until its discovery by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812. It is a city that inspired many a poet, John William Burgon being no different. Petra inspired him to write, “it seems no work of Man's creative hand, by labour wrought as wavering fancy planned; But from the rock as if by magic grown, eternal, silent, beautiful, alone!” The rocks seem to have a mind of their own, and you can sense something enchanting as you walk down the rock-lined corridor to the magnificence that awaits you.

On this day, a special guide will take you along the same route many have travelled before and you will feel as if you’ve journeyed into another world. You get to explore a city carved into stone, walk through a dim, narrow gorge called The Siq, (a holy path filled with old and ancient relics of gods); a sophisticated water system has been placed on both sides of the gorge. Much more will be revealed to you as you walk until you reach The Treasury. And just like Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade , you will be mesmerised by what you see.

A whole city, carved from stone, will open up before you once you leave The Treasury. Everything is built from the rock face—houses, theatres, tombs, and facades. As the sun casts its rays onto these places and you watch other tourists stroll along discovering the hidden secrets of Petra, you will understand what life must have been like for the people living here—tranquil, bustling, and exquisite.

Things to consider:

This monastery is a one hour climb up 800 rock steps from the basin restaurant/museum area. Don’t be intimidated by the ascent though; donkeys are available, but the essence of the experience for many people is in the walk itself.

What to expect:

While it is not as famous as the Treasury, the Monastery is considered one of the most impressive views at Petra. It is similar to the Treasury yet only larger (50m high x 45m wide). While containing much less decoration, it is still beautifully carved and worth every one of the 800 steps you took to reach it.

If you are a lover of scenic landscapes and breath-taking views, another part of your day should include this location. With just an extra ten minute walk from the Monastery, you will be happy you took the extra time. Here you will enjoy panoramic views of the Wadi Araba Valley. This walk can be extra rewarding for the bird watchers among the group as eagles populate this area in abundance.

This is another place that is offered that provides the opportunity for both a close look into the faith of the Nabateans priest as it was used for animal sacrifice, and also provides a very spectacular view of the city below. Get yourself ready for 700 steps into the mountain (again donkeys can be hired for those looking for a ride up). Your trek up will begin in the area by the theatre near the Treasury.

Petra entrance fee: 50 Jordanian dinars

Things to consider while in Wadi Musa town/Petra:

What better way of viewing the Treasury than to see it lit up by hundreds of candles? Imagine the rose-coloured rock sparkling with hundreds of tiny dancing flames lighting your way throughout. You will enjoy drinking traditional Bedouin tea while traditional Bedouin music plays softly in the background.

The journey starts at the visitor centre, with candles lining the way to the Treasury. The candles give the journey a whimsical effect, while the only sound you hear is that of your own breath echoing in the Siq (gorge).

Petra by Night runs three times a week. Tours start at 8:30 pm and finish at 10:00 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Ticket: 17 Jordanian dinars.

Whether you are tired after a long day of exploring the city of Petra, or if you are preparing for your night tour, a Turkish bath is a must for a true visitor’s experience. Trust us, every muscle in your body will thank you. A renowned local family owns the baths where we will be taking you so you are guaranteed an authentic Turkish bath experience. Feel free to bring your suit with you, or if you have forgotten yours, one can be provided.

As you enter the first chamber, your masseur will greet you. You will then be cleaned with warm soapy water, and rinsed off by pouring warm water over your head. Next it’s off to the steam room. The steam is mixed with a special blend of local herbs that will aid your breathing and also break down those sore muscles. It’s a unisex bath so you and your friends can enjoy each other’s company while in the steam room.

Afterwards, we’re off to the hot stones where you can put your tired feet up, aiding your blood circulation (definitely needed after all those steps!) Once you’re ready you can head back into the steam room to prepare for your massage. We conclude our time at the Turkish baths with a cool down, followed by some local herbal tea, before we head back to your hotel or off to dinner. This experience will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated like never before!

Price:  24 Jordanian dinars for the full works.

After breakfast you will continue your excursion into the majestic Wadi Rum. From Petra, it is around a one and a half hour drive to Wadi Rum along the King’s Highway. You will be taken on a mountain road, up to an elevation of 1,600 metres above sea level where you will be able to observe valleys dotted with Bedouin settlements and their herds of livestock.

Once we reach Wadi Rum, our Bedouin friend Abu-Yosef will greet us at his home with traditional Bedouin tea (tea made with fresh sage and sugar). After your short rest, you will be set to explore the immense area of Wadi Rum while in the back of an old 4x4 truck. To discover a landscape that was once described by the British officer T. E. Lawrence as, 'vast, echoing and Godlike.' This description wonderfully summarises the Wadi Rum experience.

You will notice how the mountains of rock just seem to melt under the sun’s energy, and the tracks of camels, foxes, and wild dogs sprinkled on the wind-swept sand. The incredible silence will engulf you, making you feel like part of the landscape around you.

Later, you will be taken to one of the highest points in all of Wadi Rum to witness a spectacular sunset. Abu-Yosef will prepare us some more Bedouin tea, right in the desert sand, and leave us to watch the descending sun. As we welcome the moon, a whole new view of the landscape around you emerges and as the darkness creeps in, the sky lights up with millions of stars to cast a silvery light upon the entire world.

Wadi rum entrance fee: 5 Jordanian dinars.

BBQ chicken lunch:  it is a unique experience, which is as close to what the native Bedouins used to eat while in the desert ( 15 Jordanian dinars per person ).*

Camel ride:  who can resist trekking through the desert on the back of a camel? This is best done after sunset or during early sunrise. Don’t miss out on this genuine experience in the desert ( 15 Jordanian dinars per person/per hour ).*

Mountain hiking:  want to experience the desert in a different way and feel every bit of it? Then hiking around Wadi Rum is a great way to truly immerse yourself in your surroundings. This trip usually takes a couple of days to allow you to see the entire desert ( 40 Jordanian dinars/2hrs flat, for the local guide ).*

Extra night:  Wadi Rum is a peaceful and seemingly limitless place, so an extra night might be worth considering. You can negotiate with your guide on the price of an extra night at the time of your decision.

*Payable directly to the Bedouin owner.

**Advance booking is required.

After breakfast we drive to Aqaba, which is approximately 45 minutes away from Wadi Rum. Today we will be focusing on leisure and relaxing after five days of continuous adventure.

Aqaba is a coastal city best known for its luxurious resort beaches and water sport activities. Situated along the Red Sea, its waters harbour a rich and diverse ecosystem with almost 1,200 species of fish. Roughly 10% of these fish cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Aqaba offers many options in the way of activities, or you can choose to relax at your hotel and enjoy the beach. For those that are looking for more to do you can choose from the list provided below.

Snorkelling trips:  you will be given all the equipment that you will need—mask, snorkel and fins. Transportation will be provided for you, and you will be given a briefing by professional staff on the beach that will include the location of coral reefs, and the best snorkel practices.

Important Note:  only five star hotels have access to the beach in the city of Aqaba; four star hotels are located outside the city, just 15 minutes away and free shuttle services are available between the hotels and the city.

After breakfast we will embark on a four hour drive to the Dead Sea. Driving along, you will observe another side of Jordan and see the diversity of the land around you as we pass by Wadi Araba. Sand dunes will emerge on both sides of the road as we progress towards the fertile land of the Dead Sea. The rich land of the Jordan Valley, which has been plentiful for the last 10,000 years, will start to unfold before you.

We continue our journey by descending quickly towards the lowest point on earth (423 metres below sea level), driving along the Dead Sea Highway we will pass by the Wadi Mujib Bridge, which faces an enormous gorge.

Dead Sea:  words can hardly describe this magnificent place, being one of the world's first health resorts for kings like Herod the Great and many others.

Today all you have to do is relax and float on your back, read your favourite magazine and take a selfie for your facebook profile.

When sun baking at the Dead Sea, it is popular for guests to cover themselves with mud and forget to use any sun protection. The sun's harmful UV rays are filtered due to the high atmospheric pressure in the area, therefore we’d like all our guests to be careful so that they can enjoy their entire experience.

After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport where we will bid you farewell; a staff member will take your luggage inside for you and wish you a safe and pleasant trip home.

For a quick  price inquiry , fill in the form below and you will receive a  non-binding proposal within 24hrs.  Once you have submitted this form, you should receive a copy of your request immediately. 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Full Field: Jordan Spieth Headlines in Texas

Four players in the top 30 are playing one week before a signature event and two weeks before the PGA Championship.

  • Author: John Schwarb

The PGA Tour rolls on to one of its most historic events, albeit one that won’t exactly have a historically strong field.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson is an interesting Tour amalgam of a name, with the CJ Cup originally having been a Tour stop in South Korea before moving back to the U.S. Rory McIlroy won the last two, in 2021 in Las Vegas and 2022 in South Carolina. But after AT&T discontinued its sponsorship following the 2023 event (AT&T continues to sponsor the Pebble Beach Pro-Am), the CJ Cup name found a new home.

Byron Nelson needs no introduction. The legendary Texan ranks sixth all-time in Tour wins with 52, including 11 in a row in 1945. In 1944 he won the Texas Victory Open, which in 1968 became the Byron Nelson Golf Classic. His name has been affixed to the Dallas-area stop ever since, and for years he greeted the winner off the 18th green. He died in 2006 at age 94.

His namesake event continues but in a compromised part of the Tour schedule. The second week of April of course was the Masters and immediately after that was the signature event RBC Heritage. Next week’s Wells Fargo Championship is another signature event, followed by the PGA Championship.

All that means there aren’t many household names teeing it up at TPC Craig Ranch. Native Texan Jordan Spieth is the highest-ranked player in the world rankings at No. 20, and Jason Day, Tom Kim and Will Zalatoris are the only players inside the top 30.

But valuable FedEx Cup points and a $9.5 million purse are up for grabs for the field of 156, plus the ability to play one’s way into Wells Fargo and the season’s second major.

Here’s the full field for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson from the PGA Tour. Keep an eye on this Twitter post all week for any field adjustments.

The cream finally rose to the top at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

In a city where celebrity chefs like the late Paul Prudhomme and Emeril Lagasse rule, past major winners and European Ryder Cup stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry teamed up to take the title with a par on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff on Sunday in Avondale, Louisiana.

McIlroy, No. 2 in the world, and Lowry, No. 39, needed a birdie at 18 to finish with a 72-hole total of 25-under 263 and force a playoff with Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer who finished their round two hours and 59 minutes earlier after shooting a tournament-tying 9-under 63 in the alternate-shot format employed in the final round.

McIlroy earned his 25 th career Tour title, tying Tommy Armour, Johnny Miller and Macdonald Smith for 23 rd on the all-time Tour wins list.

“To win any PGA Tour event is very cool, but to do it with one of your closest friends, we’ve known each other for a long, long time, probably like over 20 years, so to think about where we met and where we’ve come from, to be on this stage and do this together, really, really cool journey that we’ve been a part of, and yeah, just awesome to be able to do it alongside this guy,” McIlroy said.

On paper, the playoff was a mismatch of epic proportions. Ramey, 31, entered the week ranked 233 rd in the world and outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings, his lone win at the opposite-field Corales Puntacana Championship in 2022.

Trainer, 33, won the 2019 Puerto Rico Open but has struggled so much in the ensuing years that he considered finding another line of work. He entered the week ranked 387 th in the world and 171 st in the FedEx Cup standings. With both in need of a partner last year, they joined forces and recorded a top-10 finish at the Tour’s lone official team event during the FedEx Cup season.

“So decided to run it back this year, and I feel like we have a good thing going,” Trainer said.

On a windswept Sunday, they combined to make 11 birdies, including at the first five holes on the back nine and take the clubhouse lead.

“We just had it going so well,” Trainer said. “I don’t want to take all the credit for the putting because Chad also putted extremely well, but it worked out so good.”

Ramey agreed that Trainer’s putter was deadly and the birdies kept piling up.

“I finally had to putt on hole 13 or 14 and I hadn’t putted since the second hole,” Ramey said. “I was just trying to give Martin some good looks.”

Then they had time for lunch and waited as Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard (69), who finished third, gave it their best shot. Hubbard credited a text from his brother on Saturday night that helped pump him up about playing in the second-to-last group with McIlroy and Lowry, telling him to treat it as his personal Ryder Cup. “This is about the closest thing certainly that I’ve had so far in my career. I definitely took that to heart and tried to be really grateful for that opportunity today to kind of feel what that might feel like, playing against an all-Euro team and that crazy format. Alternate shot is just so stressful,” Hubbard said.

Narrowly missing out on joining the playoff when Brehm’s 10-foot birdie putt from the fringe at the last burned the right edge couldn’t spoil what still amounted to a successful partnership.

“We’re still going to party tonight,” Hubbard added.

For much of the day, it looked like 54-hole leaders Zac Blair and Patrick Fishburn, who grew up playing together in Ogden, Utah, and had been teammates in junior high, high school and and college at BYU, would both be celebrating their first Tour victories. However, they made a double bogey at a par 3 on each side, the latter at the 17 th hole and it sealed their fate, a fourth-place tie (72).

McIlroy and Lowry entered the day trailing by two and their hopes for wearing the belts awarded to the champions became dicier after making bogey on two of their first three holes. But they bounced back with four birdies in a five-hole stretch starting at the seventh and played the last 12 holes in 5 under.

“It showed a lot about our characters and how much we wanted to win this thing,” Lowry said.

None of it came easily, including at 13 when McIlroy had to play from 111 yards in a sand-filled divot at 13 and chunked it. Still, they salvaged par. At 14, McIlroy drew a beauty at the par 3 that stopped 10 feet past the hole and twirled his club in satisfaction, but Lowry, who switched putters this week and admitted he never fully trusted the club, misread the putt. At 16, McIlroy drove into a fairway bunker but Lowry wedged from 133 yards to 10 feet – “pulled it a bit,” he said – and McIlroy clenched his fist when the birdie putt dropped to make it a three-way tie at the top. Just when they seem poised to put the tournament away, Lowry missed the 17 th green wide right and they failed to rescue par and dropped one stroke behind again. But McIlroy’s pitch from left of the green at the par-5 18 th  hopped and stopped 3 feet from the hole for the tying birdie and a round of 4-under 68.

The playoff, which returned to 18, lasted just one hole because Trainer duffed a chip for his team’s third shot and after making putt after putt all day, he failed to convert a 6-foot par putt to keep their dream of winning alive. Trainer looked up to the sky in dismay, knowing he had pushed the putt right of the hole.

“Golf is hard, and sometimes it doesn’t go your way,” he said.

It marked the first win of the Tour season for McIlroy, who had recorded just one top-10 finish to date at the Valero Texas Open earlier this month, and the first victory for Lowry since claiming the 2019 British Open. (The latter also became exempt for the final three Signature events.)

“We felt like coming into the week that we both could do with a big jump in the FedEx Cup, and we both said at the start of the week, let’s go and get 400 points each. That’s what we’ve done, and I nearly feel a little bit bad taking them because Rory carried me a lot of the way. But yeah, they’re mine, and they’re not going away,” Lowry said.

This is not a drill. Rory McIlroy singing Don't Stop Believing pic.twitter.com/y5PkEDoqo4 — Brody Miller (@BrodyAMiller) April 28, 2024

From playing together in junior golf to the Ryder Cup and now winners at the Zurich Classic, Lowry and McIlroy have shared a special bond.

“Anytime this man wants to partner with me, I’ll be happy to do so,” Lowry said.

“I’d say we’re going to come back and defend next year; what do you think?” McIlroy said to his partner.

“I hope so,” Lowry said. “I’ll be here.”

Jordan Spieth misses cut, wayward drive off patron costs $20 at Byron Nelson

Jordan Spieth had a disappointing showing at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and even had to cough up $20 thanks to a wayward drive.

Jordan Spieth, PGA Tour, Byron Nelson

Jordan Spieth has missed his fourth cut of the season at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson —the event in which he made his PGA Tour debut as a 16-year-old in 2010.

He had a chance to make the weekend at the end of his second round, as he arrived at the par-4 16th hole one shot off the cut-line at 5-under par for the tournament.

But he rifled his tee-shot way right on this 495-yard par-4. And then, somehow, his ball caromed back into the middle of the fairway.

A bounce ... off an elbow into the fairway?! @JordanSpieth gifted this fan a signed ball after the lucky kick. pic.twitter.com/zvCsUTzgWt — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) May 3, 2024

His drive bounced off a patron’s elbow , setting himself up for a much easier second shot into this challenging hole.

But Spieth could not take advantage of the fortuitous bounce. He pulled his approach to the left side of the green and three-putted from there, dropping down to 4-under and two off the cut line.

A shot was not the only thing Spieth lost on the 16th hole on Friday, however. He also lost $20, handing the unlucky fan a $20 bill for his ill-advised drive. Spieth also gifted him a signed golf ball.

“Beers on me.” - @JordanSpieth https://t.co/vwano4oO56 pic.twitter.com/KqyyGQaTeZ — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) May 4, 2024

That fan presumably went to pick up a beverage , courtesy of Spieth.

Yet, Spieth could not garner any momentum over his last two holes at TPC Craig Ranch, finishing par-par to shoot a 1-under 70 on day two. He did not have his best stuff this week and will look to rebound at next week’s Wells Fargo Championship—a Signature Event at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.

After that, it’s on to the PGA Championship , where Spieth will look to complete the career Grand Slam. Hopefully, he will not slam another drive into another fan in the coming weeks.

Jordan Spieth still managing wrist issue ahead of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

Change Text Size

Hometown hero and betting favorite Jordan Spieth admits his injured wrist probably needs extended rest to truly heal, but he remains confident ahead of his title chase at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in Texas.

Spieth opened at +1400 to win the tournament he first played as a 16-year-old phenom but has drifted to +1600 and equal favoritism with Si Woo Kim at BetMGM Sportsbook. Despite the movement, he still holds the highest ticket and handle percentage with the book at 10.4 and 9.3 percent respectively.

The 30-year-old admitted to nearly withdrawing in his most recent start at the RBC Heritage after the damaged tendon in his left wrist “popped out” in the opening round before he battled on to a T39 finish.

His ECU (extensor carpi ulnaris) tendon sheath has a partial tear, making it hard to keep the tendon in place, with the issue first having kept Spieth from playing THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, one of his favorite stops on TOUR, a year ago. He aggravated the wrist in October last year and again during the Valero Texas Open and RBC Heritage in recent weeks.

Golfbet Roundtable: Ideal betting odds for Jordan Spieth, Picks for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

But now, as he looks to improve on his last two starts at TPC Craig Ranch, which yielded a T9 and runner-up in 2021 and 2022, Spieth took a week off to reset, changed up his treatment routine, and as such comes in quietly confident.

“I'd probably be advised to take more than one (week) in order for it to really get helped," Spieth said on Tuesday, "but it's one of those things like I'm not doing further damage is my understanding. It's just management until I can figure out exactly what maybe solves the problem."

Given the TOUR schedule is really heating up over the coming months with three more majors, the Olympics and the FedExCup Playoffs, extended rest isn’t on the cards for some time. So Spieth will battle on.

“It's a lot of managing it," he said. "I'm kind of doing a couple different things to help treat the symptoms that I experience and to not have some recurring problems that have happened."

“I'm doing a lot of stuff off the course, therapy side, whether it's treating the tendon to treating the nerve in general. You know, I think that that's helping. I kind of maybe got a little bit away from it as I got into a heavier stretch of golf the last eight weeks so I had a couple instances that weren't good.

“I don't plan on that happening going forward with what I'm doing off the course even though I will be playing a lot of golf.”

Spieth’s season has not been to the standard he’d have hoped. While he opened with a third-place finish at The Sentry and was T6 at the WM Phoenix Open, he’s had three missed cuts, a DQ and just one top-10 in his seven starts since.

At 44th in the FedExCup it certainly isn’t panic stations, but he’s eyeing more.

“I kind of wanted to hit the reset button this last week and I took more days off than I usually do," he revealed. "Got a little burned out trying to find stuff. I wanted to take some time off, clear my mind, and then get back to it.

“Kind of looking at this as kind of a restart. I haven't had the year I wanted to have after getting off to a pretty optimistic start in Hawaii. I feel really good about the work I put in since the weekend into the few days this week, so I believe that I'm really close to some great things.

“Sometimes that can be disguised right before it happens. I'm believing that has been the case and need a couple confidence-building rounds or whatever it may be and feel like I can go on a really nice run. That's the plan.”
