Baguio is one of the favorite destinations of Pinoys. With its cool weather, delicious strawberries, ukay-ukay, the PMA, and more fun tourist spots, you should not miss it out. The first time I went there was almost 10 years ago due to a school field trip. If you want to visit this place, learn how you can travel from Manila to Baguio here!
The City of Baguio, also known as the City of the Pines, is located in the province of Benguet in the Cordillera Administrative Region. It is situated 4,600 feet above sea level, that’s why it usually does not exceed 26 degrees here. Bring your jackets, backpacks, and camera to this fantastic city!

You can ride a bus from Manila to Baguio. Travel time is usually for 5 to 8 hours due to traffic. Here are your options:
Victory Liner Bus
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Victory Liner Inc (@victoryliner) on Jan 19, 2020 at 9:40pm PST
Victory Liner is one of the most popular buses to ride to Baguio. If you are in Manila, you can ride in the following terminals:
For those in Pampanga, you can ride from the Dau Bus Terminal. There are also first-class or deluxe busses from Cubao and Pasay. Please note that the deluxe and first-class rides have a restroom on board, which is very convenient for a long trip. One-way fares start from PHP 126 for ordinary, 485 for air-conditioned buses, PHP 525 for deluxe, and PHP 800 for first class.
Victory Liner Bus Schedules If you travel from Manila to Baguio, here are the bus schedules of Victory Liner:
from Earnshaw
If you want luxury travel, Joy Bus is the best choice. In their 28-seater buses, you’ll enjoy comfortable chairs, onboard restroom, and Wi-Fi. Their main terminal is located in 704 EDSA, Cubao, Quezon City. But you can ride at the following stations:
- San Fernando, Pampanga
Choose between Deluxe Bus or Premier Executive Bus. The latter has an individual entertainment system, free water and biscuits, warm blanket, and more legroom than the former. The deluxe costs PHP 720, an additional PHP 20 for the premiere. They also have semi-deluxe which costs PHP 650.00.

Travel from Manila to Baguio by Car or Van
If you want a hassle-free and private ride, you can drive your car or rent a van to Baguio. The plus side of this is you can use it to travel inside the city; it will save you transportation costs on taxis or PUV in the town.
If you want to go there by car, you can use Google Maps for assistance. From Manila, people usually use the NLEX (North Luzon Express Way) and proceed to SCTEX via Exit 85. Drive to MacArthur Highway until you arrive in Rosario, La Union.
There are two roads to Baguio the zig-zag Kennon Road and the wider Marcos Highway. The fastest route to Baguio is via Kennon Road; it will be a challenging drive as you will turn every meter. It also offers the best views. Marcos Highway also provides a scenic view of the South China Sea as well, and the roads are also much wider. However, it has a steeper incline than the Kennon Road. For low-powered cars, it’s better to use the Kennon Road rather than the Marcos Highway.
You can also rent a Van to Baguio. There are van rentals for travel from Manila to Baguio; some includes tour packages already. A perk about the van is that you’ll have an expert driver on your side, and you and your companions can relax privately.
Rates range from PHP 3,500 – 10,000 a day. The longer you rent, the cheaper you’ll pay. You can get as low as PHP 18,000 for five days; however, for this rate diesel and fees are not yet included. You’ll need to search for a car and a package that suits you. Check online as there are many van rental websites for Manila to Baguio Route.
Travel from Manila to Baguio by Plane
So far, there are no flights from Manila to Loakan Airport. However, the old airport is said to be on repair to accommodate commercial flights. Hopefully, it will push through so that it’s easier for those who come from Visayas, Mindanao, and other parts of Luzon to visit.
*Prices stated above are subject to change.
I hope this guide is helpful for your travel from Manila to Baguio . If you want a smooth trip, I recommend riding a luxury bus or coach to this charming city. Should you hate planning and want things to be arranged, many travel agencies can help you with your trip to Baguio . My time in Baguio was memorable; I hope you’ll enjoy your trip there too!

Baguio : Known as the summer capital in the Philippines due to its year-round cool climates with a variety of cultural, historical and wonderful scenery.
Vigan : Unique among the Philippine town since it is the country’s most extensive and lone surviving historic city way back from 16th century Spanish Colonial period. Sagada: The perfect place for nature lover, and for those who want a relaxing journey surrounded by a peaceful nature. Banaue Rice Terraces : A 2000-year old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the Batad indigenous people. It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. The terraces are located approximately 1500 meters (5000 feet) above sea level and cover 10,360 square kilometers (about 4000 square miles) of mountainside. They are fed by an ancient irrigation system from the rainforests above the terraces.
Included in this itinerary is the most popular adventure tour in Sagada, descending the Sumaguing cave and walking through the rice terraces of Batad. In and around Banaue you could be fascinated with the wonderful view of the man made rice terraces and feel the creep at the hanging coffins in Sagada and other scenic natural attractions. You will explore the the Northern part of the Philippines and experience the cold breeze of Baguio with spectacular views and embrace the heritage site of Vigan. It is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines whose structures has remained intact, and it is well known for its cobblestone streets and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial European architecture.

1 review for 5 Days / 4 Nights PRIVATE Banaue, Sagada, Vigan & Baguio Round Tour
Paul, Emilie en Wigger Tims – February 22, 2017
Beste Hans,

Baguio City: Basic Information and Brief History
Baguio is a highly urbanized city located in the province of Benguet. It is also known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines due to its chilly year-round environment. The city sits 4810 feet (1466 meters) above sea level, and its location is conducive to cultivating different root crops and vegetables.
Baguio City is also abundant in history. During the American Colonial Period in the 1900s, the US Military used Baguio as a hill station. Daniel Burnham, an urban designer, plans the whole city’s distinct layout. Unfortunately, during World War II, the Japanese attacked Camp John Hay, turning the city into ruins.
Currently, Baguio City is one of the most famous tourist spots in the country. But, who could imagine this mountainous city has a lot of historical moments that shaped the Philippines today?

Our Choice: Microtel by Wyndham Baguio City
This is our favorite hotel in Baguio City. Microtel is a three-star hotel that provides outstanding comfort and service to its guest. What we like the most about this place is its location. Microtel is located beside Victory Liner Bus Station and is also accessible to different tourist spots in the city. They also have a complimentary breakfast buffet included in the room package.
Microtel’s rates are slightly expensive, and their standard deluxe room costs around PHP 4,000 a night. But with Agoda, you can book a room online at discounted rates of up to 50% off. Click this link to see the discounted rates in Microtel.
Baguio City is also best when it comes to food trips. Most restaurants here offer big servings at an affordable price. The servings are so huge that you can share them with friends and family. Here are five of our recommended restaurants and cafes that you should try:
- Good Taste Restaurant – Best 24-Hour Restaurant. This food place offers a variety of Filipino Cuisine with huge servings at an affordable price!
- Oh, My Gulay! – An artsy place and restaurant located at the heart of Session Road in Baguio.
- 50’s Diner – Travel back to the 50s and enjoy the food of the American Era.

Other Information
When is the best month to visit baguio city.
It is best to visit Baguio during December, January, and February. These periods are also the most congested since travelers all over the country want to experience a pleasant cool climate. Furthermore, Baguio City celebrates the Panagbenga Flower Festival annually in February .
Visiting Baguio City during March, April, and May is also good, but it will be slightly warmer than the previous months. Avoid visiting Baguio City from September to November due to heavy rains, and some major highways are impassable because of the increased risk of landslides.
Any additional travel tips in Baguio City?
- One important keyword: Follow . Follow your itinerary, the city’s safety standards, and the travel and tour agency.
- Bring your jackets . The night is colder than you think, and wearing a jacket is an added layer of protection against the city’s cold climate.
- Always keep yourself hydrated . Baguio City is a high-altitude city, and you might experience altitude sickness if you explore the place on foot. Always bring a water bottle with you to avoid getting altitude sickness.
- Always bring a small bag . In traveling, you might bring a big 30L to 40L backpack full of clothes and things you need for the following days of your trip. Of course, you will not be getting your heavy bags with you during the tour. Keep your main bag in your hotel room or accommodation. Bringing a small bag helps explore the city without the excess weight.
- Reservations are king . It’s better to reserve things in advance before any trip or activity. Many travelers visit the city daily, and full accommodation is a common problem. Always book your accommodation in advance, it’s better this way than letting yourselves stay in the street braving the cold night.
- Have an open mind and be responsible . We are all visitors to this place; be sensitive and respect their culture, values, and norms. Avoid throwing trash and be responsible.
- If you wish to contact any tourism officials in Baguio City, you can visit their tourism Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/baguiotourism/ .

This is so informative and helpful. Thank you so much! We’re excited to experience strawberry picking specifically my son.
Hi po, thank you so much, these will surely help us on our upcoming Baguio Trip…
Just want to ask lang po, if we’re planning for a 4D3N – 4 pax trip to Baguio+Sagada, do you think its better to book for a joiners trip going to Sagada? cheaper po ba if ganun? ehehehe salamuchhhhhh.
hi. what time po open ang cafe in the sky?
The last time we visited Cafe in the Sky was in 2017. We arrived at 5 AM and the cafe was already opened. I don’t know if it’s still the same today since that area is closed to the public. Only residents of Baguio City are allowed to enter the area.
Have a safe trip!
Hi, totoo bang mahirap ang parking area sa mga tourist attraction? My friend told me na mas better iwan ang kotse sa accomodation then mag-taxi nalang?
Hi Carlo, Yes! The traffic is even worse during the holiday season. Most tourists keep their vehicles in their accommodation and ride a cab instead. Pero, it depends on the tourist attraction na pupuntahan ninyo. If you are planning to visit the most crowded places like (Wright Park, Mines View, Botanical Garden, and Session Road), I advise na mag-taxi na lang kayo. For places like BenCab and Strawberry Farm, you can bring your vehicle since medyo malayo na mga ito and baka mapa-mahal pa kayo if mag taxi kayo. Enjoy your upcoming vacation in Baguio!
Hello! True bang di na need ng QTP/Visita requirements pag nagpuntang Baguio?
Hi Key, I asked the staff from local Baguio Tourism Office and said that QTP is still required when visiting Baguio City. However, based on the experience of my fellow blogger on his recent trip, they are not implementing the QTP strictly anymore. To be safe, just apply for a QTP in case they look for it.
So helpful . Thank you!
My pleasure, Jessica! Enjoy your trip to Baguio City 🙂
So detailed. Btw, may we ask how much is the estimated amount for the itinerary of 3 days and 2 nights? Thank you so much!

Baguio will always be my second favorite city after Legazpi City, Albay where I grew up.
Nakakatuwa kasi Good Taste din ang una kong hinahanap pagbaba ko pa lang ng bus sa VLiner. Fresh and generous!
Nakacheck in na din ako sa Bed and Bath kaso I really don’t prefer dormitory styles at di ko bet CR nila. Though it’s cheap and very accessible sa down town.Pero last time we were there to ask tariffs, pogi yung front desk lols!
I went to Legazpi City last 2011, I think it’s time to revisit your home city again 🙂

Diplomat Hotel
This tourist destination rose to fame around 2016 after being featured in TV episodes of Rated K and Jessica Soho. The reason behind it being featured is because it’s a haunted place. It is regarded as one of the most haunted places in Baguio City.
To give you a bit of information, this abandoned hotel was previously a church/seminary that transitioned into a hospital, and a hotel at the latter. Many incidents and theories happened here like the beheading of priests, a nurse committing suicide and the people who died when the hotel caught fire. To read the full story, check my Facebook post here .
Nowadays, the abandoned Diplomat Hotel no longer looks spooky compared to the days when it was not yet famous to tourists. This is because they have re-decorated and cleaned it due to the demand of tourists coming here. There’s even a chapel in the first floor that they have built.
There was a time when entering this place is not allowed and visitors are not welcome so we sneak our way in. During my college days, my classmates and I would come here for fun and look for ghosts at night. This is not joke and I dare anyone who’d do that will get instant goosebumps. First lady bares plans for Baguio’s ‘Mansion’
AS PRESIDENTIAL AS IT CAN GET As it is today, the century-old estate is already a crowd-drawer in Baguio City. But The Mansion may soon be transformed into a full-fledged Presidential Museum, according to first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. EV ESPIRITU
MANILA, Philippines — First lady Liza Araneta-Marcos is keen on turning one of the landmarks of Baguio City into a museum about the men and women who have served in the highest office of the land.
Araneta-Marcos plans to duplicate the Presidential Museum—which is currently housed at the Teus Mansion within the Malacañang complex in Manila—at The Mansion.
It will be put together with the young and upcoming generation of Filipinos in mind.
READ: Baguio City in Focus
“I noticed that the youth, they don’t know history. They just criticize,” the first lady said in her interview with broadcaster Anthony Taberna that was shown on his YouTube channel on Friday.
“How can you love your country if you don’t love your President?” she said, noting how the country’s succession of chief executives shared the common fate of being bashed early in their terms because the public still had to know more about them.

A ‘hit’ worth copying
The Teus Mansion is popular among youngsters and students, with its free tours drawing around 6,000 visitors a month to the Presidential Museum, she said.
“Since the Teus Mansion turned out to be a hit, we will duplicate it in Baguio City, at the Mansion House. We will house it there, for the tourists in Baguio City. This is for free,” she said, referring to the place by its old name.
For starters, the envisioned museum at The Mansion could house the “barong” worn by the former presidents and donated by their heirs—perhaps on the first lady’s request—among other mementos.
Known for its history and stately architecture, The Mansion was built in 1908 as the official summer house of American governors general during the prewar era. It was turned over to the Philippines during the Commonwealth period. At present, it serves as the official summer residence of the President.
Life and times
On the other hand, the Teus Mansion in San Miguel, Manila, now doubles as the Presidential Museum. On display are items from the life and times of the country’s past 16 presidents before Marcos: clothes and footwear, campaign souvenirs, keystone documents, momentous news clippings, gifts from foreign governments and art pieces, among others.

The Teus Mansion is one of three heritage structures in the Malacañang compound. The others are Bahay Ugnayan, which now features a timeline of key events in the life of the incumbent President; and the Goldenberg Mansion, an opulent residence built in the 1870s by a Spanish merchant family that was later refurbished and repurposed as an arts and culture venue.
