About Disney Cruise Line cruises
Disney cruise line prices, disney cruise line loyalty program: castaway club, what is the best disney cruise line ship.
Disney has a massive global footprint across its theme parks, films and merchandise. And it doesn’t stop there. Among its many offerings is the Disney Cruise Line, whose fleet of five ships sails all over the world.
Family-friendly but with adults-only areas, Disney cruises offer some of the most comprehensive cruise options around. Let’s break down everything there is to know about the Disney Cruise Line, including pricing, destinations and its loyalty program.
You can always expect some magic from Disney, and there is no exception when sailing on Disney Cruise Line. Although its fleet is small, it offers a high-end, family-friendly experience for guests. Here’s a quick overview of Disney Cruise Line’s key features.
Cabin types: Disney Cruise Line offers all the usual cabin types, including inside, oceanview, verandah and concierge-level rooms . Disney Cruise Line’s cabins are larger than average and designed for families, with split bathrooms and privacy curtains. Their largest rooms can accommodate up to seven guests.
Main U.S. routes: Disney has several departure points from within the United States, including options from San Diego, New York City, Miami, and Galveston, Texas. However, its most frequent departures are from Port Canaveral in Brevard County, Florida, to the Bahamas and the Caribbean or from Vancouver, British Columbia to Alaska.
Loyalty program: Disney Cruise Line offers the Castaway Club to repeat guests. It has four membership levels — Silver, Gold, Platinum and Pearl. The first level is earned by completing a single cruise.

Disney Cruise Line destinations
Although Disney currently operates only five ships, the cruise line still manages to cover most of the world. Here are the locations you can currently sail on a Disney cruise:
New Zealand.
Pacific Coast.
Panama Canal.
South Pacific.
Transatlantic.
Cruises are available in a variety of lengths, from three nights up to 15 nights.
Disney cruises tend to be more expensive than the average cruise. Currently, for example, the cheapest cruise departing from Port Canaveral is a three-night trip to the Bahamas, which costs $1,958 for two guests.
And you’ll pay more to take a "special occasion" Disney cruise. The same three-night Bahamas cruise sailing during Disney's Silver Anniversary at Sea starts at $2,345 for two guests.
When it comes to timing, standard logic applies. The high season will cost more, especially during holidays and the summer break.
The cheapest rate we found — the previously-mentioned $1,958 — is for a cruise in late January, a time when those with school-aged children might have trouble getting away. Meanwhile, the most expensive period for this cruise takes place over the Christmas holiday and rings in at $3,737 for an inside stateroom.
For all destinations, if you’d like to save money, avoid peak periods and search all available dates to find the lowest rates . This is true even on less popular cruises, such as those sailing up to Alaska .
The cheapest cost for two guests to Alaska from Vancouver is $2,983 in mid-September, while the same cruise will cost you $4,607 if you sail over the Fourth of July holiday.
One-way positioning cruises — that is, those that end in a different location from where they started — are often much cheaper per night than standard round-trip cruises.
What’s included
Disney cruises are more inclusive than most cruises. You don’t, for example, need to pay extra for soft drinks on a Disney cruise like you would on Norwegian Cruise Line . You’re also entitled to complimentary room service 24/7, unlike on Virgin Voyages, where you'll be charged a $5 fee for each delivery.
Here are more inclusions you can expect.
Live, high-quality entertainment.
Large staterooms (designed for parties of up to three guests).
Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay (on most Bahamas and Caribbean cruises).
Upscale restaurants, quick-service dining, poolside snacks and room service.
Adults-only lounges and pool areas.
Waterslides (on some ships).

Disney isn’t known for its loyalty programs. For example, there is no frequent traveler program associated with staying at one of its resorts or frequenting its parks. However, Disney Cruise Line rewards repeat customers with various benefits, including a complimentary specialty dinner, free photo downloads and an exclusive terminal check-in area.

The Disney Wish is the newest Disney Cruise Line ship and certainly its best. It just launched in the summer of 2022. Among its many amenities, guests can find the first-ever Disney attraction at sea. It’s a 760-foot water slide filled with show scenes, lighting, music and more that touches down into a lazy river.
The Disney Wish also has dedicated areas themed for "Frozen," the Marvel Universe and "Star Wars."
In addition, the Disney Wish has all the regular amenities you’d expect on a Disney cruise, including live entertainment, pools and spacious staterooms.
Disney Cruise Line does not offer free Wi-Fi. Instead, it has three levels of packages from which to choose:
Stay Connected: $10 per day for the entire cruise or $12 per day for a 24-hour period.
Basic Surf: $20 per day for the entire cruise or $24 per day for a 24-hour period.
Premium Surf: $30 per day for the entire cruise or $36 per day for a 24-hour period.
These packages are available on the Disney Wish, Disney Magic, Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream. The Disney Wonder still operates on the old data-usage Wi-Fi packages.
Most of your daily expenses, including your food and non-alcoholic beverages, are included when sailing on a Disney cruise. However, if you’d like specialty drinks or alcohol, you’ll need to pay extra. Gratuities are not included, and Disney Cruise Line's recommended tip is a minimum of $14.50 per guest, per night.
Disney Cruise Line doesn’t offer the standard drink package other cruise lines offer. Drink packages allow you to pay a flat-rate price and drink as much alcohol as you’d like.
Instead, you’ll either pay per drink or purchase bundled quantities onboard. It’s also possible to purchase a specialty beer mug at the pub onboard, which can then be refilled across the ship. Much like Disney’s popcorn buckets, your beer mugs entitle you to cheaper refills on all your beer.
In the past, Disney Cruise Line required that you be vaccinated or tested for COVID-19 before sailing, but this is no longer the case. Guests departing from the United States are not required to do either, though the cruise line highly encourages you to get vaccinated before sailing.

Cruise experience
I wanted to thank Disney and their staff for allowing me and my family to experience such a magical journey! I sail on many top rate and we’ll known cruise lines. I have now abandoned ship with these other cruise ships! And officially now onboard the Disney team! You have gone over and beyond to release my COVID19 fear to travel again! For the app pre-checkin count down app which was super cool and easy to navigate! To the stress free and we’ll organise check in process at the port! No lines and stress free check in process! It took us less than an hour from our Covid testing to embark to for our fun to begin! It was so awesome to know everyone on the ship was required to test and know the entire ship was COVID19 FREE! The personal touch and attention to detail does not go unnoticed as if we have been cruising with Disney for years! The staff and shows was amazing it brought my family to tears every time we would discuss out evening events the next day! Disney has raise the bar so high that the other cruise lines has no latter to reach! I have begun my planning process for a cruise this upcoming fall! I am beyond excited to visit my next destination and ship with Disney! I can write a book on my experience but I will just have to wait until my next Disney cruise experience review! Thank you Disney for not giving up on Walt Vision you made him proud!
This is our second sailing in our first sailing we did concierge’s. I am telling you there’s no need for concierge’s unless it is something that you just want to do to isolate yourself a little bit from the ship. You cannot book the cabanas unless you’re sailing concierge’s which we did do the first time, but not this time and Castaway Cay was just fine without the cabana. We did do the new dinner on the Wish and Enchante’ was better in our option then La pergola in Rome (although comparing at this level is silly as they are obviously both as good as anything you will ever have). The dinners, food and service were so terrific. The new Aqua mouse is worth the 30-40min wait as it will remind you of Mickey’s runaway railroad from Hollywood Studios a little. Shows were like being on broadway, and there is something for everyone. Our 11 year old did Edge and loves it, our 7 year old liked oceaneere’s club but since she did not have her big sister with her this time she asked to get picked up after only 20min which was just fine with us :-)! The obstacle course, by Incredibles, was also definitely worth trying (30min wait) but make sure your swimsuit is on TIGHT (no joke lol). So happy we went on another Disney cruise and can’t wait for our next one!
Easy to use and great communication tool onboard
Several years ago we used this app on our first Disney cruise but it is greatly improved. No need to use the onboard 'cell phones' provided to each stateroom. You can create your own groups and stay in touch with all the family on the ship. It also keeps activity schedules up to date but you need to get out of the app completely and then open it again. The last night of our cruise they got the okay to show the new Beauty and the Beast movie the night before it was to open in theaters. When I checked the app, there it was. Thanks for this useful tool. Two suggestions for possible improvements are 1) have the app actual give some kind of sound indication if you receive a text message. 2) have an additional financial part to be able to see what extras you have added to your trip and the financial responsibility for those additions. It would be far easier than having to go to Member Services to check what was on their final bill. Would be handy and could help Member Services cast members cut down on the volume of calls and visits to their area for information. The app worked great but there are always ways to improve. Thanks for helping make our cruise more magical.

Hey everyone!!! Just asking for some advice in regards to our current room we have booked for our January sailing onboard the Dream. This is going to be a back to back sailing for us as well. Its just going to be 2 adults onboard this sailing no kids. Prior to this sailing we have also always done concierge so the room was situation in the forward part of the ship. We are currently booked into room 12588 which is directly under the Mickey Pool, or we can move to room 12524 which will be under the Spa treatment rooms of Senses. We are just a little worried about the noise from the pools, as we tend to sleep in till about 9-10am some mornings of the cruise, and also general noise during the day incase we are spending time in the room. But if we choose room 10524 we will be down grading to a smaller cabin. Is the sizing difference very noticeable? What are the exact differences between these two categories beside the space? Thanks in advance for your help Shannon
- Feb 14, 2017
Bumping this up**
The main difference between a Deluxe Oceanview and a Family Deluxe Oceanview is the size. There is approximately enough extra space for a murphy bed (so the width of a twin bed) -- making the room slightly longer. However, not all "Family" rooms have the extra murphy bed, in which case there may be a chair in that space. That really is the only difference between the rooms -- the size and an extra bed or chair. I think you may have a typo in your original post -- what room do you currently have booked? I don't believe there is a 12588 on the Dream, and the pools are on deck 11. So possibly you are on deck 10? I haven't stayed on that deck so I don't have personal experience; I have read reports of noise in the early mornings when they pressure wash the pool deck and reset the chairs/loungers for the day. Enjoy your cruise!
Sea days are just so relaxing!
Besides the extra space, the Family Deluxe Oceanview (Category 4D through 4A) also have a different shower. It is a shallow circular tub (deep enough for a kid ot have a bath) with a rainshower head. The other staterooms have the normal rectangular tub with shower combination like a hotel room. Personally, for two adults I would prefer the more foreward room. Under Senses (unless it is under the fitness room) will have less likelihood of noise from above and you are going to be close to the adult pool. Downgrading should also save you some money.
DIS Veteran
We have stayed on deck 10 below the pool deck before and I dont think we would do it again. First as you pointed out, the noise from the deck above is noticeable...........especially sliding chairs around and running. Second, we felt the room was a little warmer due to the heat from the deck above being in the sun all day. We will take deck 9 in the future if we do the Dream or the Fantasy.
DisneyCowgirl
We just got back from our cruise in the larger room and we all agreed that the space was not necessary. Unless you have a chair, it is wasted space. For future cruises, I would not let the extra space affect my decision. There were 4 of us in the room, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 11 and 8.
Keep in mind that they also have some rooms that are standard size verandah rooms but the balconies are twice the size as a normal balcony.
The deluxe family room also has a much larger desk area with more cabinets and drawers than the other room. We were in the deluxe family with 2 adults and 1 child had more than enough storage, we didn't use all of the cabinets/drawers. Our room had a murphy bed, but no upper berth. For our family I would always try to get a deluxe family room, but if I were to go with just my dh, than I'd choose just the plain deluxe room.
Retired 2021 -- All the Time to Travel Now!
We booked the deluxe family ocean view one year to get the straight back chair for my husband's back (which is shown in every floor diagram and picture). Our's was the only room on our floor that was missing the chair! Go figure.

Disney Cruise Line passenger rescued by US Coast Guard after emergency off Puerto Rico
A 35-year-old pregnant woman was airlifted from disney fantasy about 180 miles off shore from puerto rico.
Coast Guard evacuates U.S. passenger from Disney cruise ship 180 miles northwest of Puerto Rico
A pregnant Disney Fantasy cruise ship passenger was evacuated by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew 180 miles offshore from Puerto Rico on Monday. The woman, 35, had health complications and required a higher level of medical care. (U.S. Coast Guard)
Drone footage captured the moment a pregnant woman was airlifted from a Disney cruise ship by the U.S. Coast Guard on Monday.
A rescuer could be seen rappelling down from an MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter onto the Disney Fantasy, floating in the Atlantic Ocean northwest of Puerto Rico , in video shared by the Coast Guard.
The 35-year-old woman was strapped to a gurney and reeled into the helicopter in the heart-pounding moment. The agency said the woman "required a higher level of medical care" than what on board doctors could provide in the ship's medical bay.

"Coast Guard watchstanders in Sector San Juan received a communication from the Disney Fantasy Monday morning requesting medevac assistance as the cruise ship was transiting 260 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico," the agency wrote in a press release.
"Once on scene, the Coast Guard Jayhawk aircrew deployed their rescue swimmer aboard the cruise ship, who prepared a rescue basket and litter to safely hoist the patient and cruise ship doctor aboard the aircraft," the Coast Guard said.
An HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft was also flown in from Air Station Miami for the rescue.

The passenger was airlifted to Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From there, the agency said, she was whisked to Centro Medico Hospital.
"Our crew was able to quickly, safely, and efficiently execute a long-range MEDEVAC for the patient to receive the higher level of care she required," Lt. Cmdr. Todd Stephens said in a statement. "This case demonstrates the value of good crew resource management and the capabilities of our Jayhawk helicopter."
"We are glad everything came together to help this passenger," said Ensign Michael Riccio, Coast Guard Sector San Juan operations unit leader for the case. "The competency displayed by the Disney Fantasy crew and the Coast Guard personnel and units involved made all the difference."

The cruise had launched two days earlier from Port Canaveral, Florida, according to Cruise Hive .
The ship is currently sailing a seven-night itinerary in the Eastern Caribbean, visiting Tortola on Tuesday, and is scheduled to dock in St. Thomas on Wednesday and will visit Disney's private island Castaway Cay before returning to port, Cruise Hive reported.
Disney Cruise Line did not immediately return a request for comment.

Disney Cruise Line names its newest cruise ship
I t was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.
The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”
As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.
The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”
Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.
“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”
Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.
All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.
The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.
Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.

Feb 14, 2017. #3.
