Learn from Bloggers: Meet Pinoy Travel Freak by Gabz, Travel Blogger
Last modified on october 8th, 2020.
If you want to learn more about blogging, the best way is to learn from others . In this series of articles, βportrait of a bloggerβ, I am choosing an advanced Filipino blogger to tell you about their tips, mistakes and own insights about their blogging journey. And this to help yours. As they took the time to answer those questions, I am thanking them in advance, and I am inviting you to check their website and work .
Today, we are with one of the best travel bloggers in the Philippines…
Who are you?
I’m Gabz also known as Pinoy Travel Freak.
A Filipino travel blogge r based in the Philippines.
What is Pinoy Travel Freak’s Blog about?
Pinoy Travel Freak is about traveling primarily around the Philippines.
I share some budget travel tips and my discovery about the best destinations in the country. I also talk about my travels abroad.
When and why did you start this blog?
I started to learn blogging back in 2006, but my travel blog was born in September 2011.
I started my travel blog because I wanted to share the beauty of the Philippines to the world and inspire my fellow Filipinos to explore our country first.
Technical question: what hosting service and what blogging platform do you use?
I’m using Blogger.com which takes care of the hosting. I want something simple and low maintenance .

What is your greatest achievement since the beginning of your blogging journey?
I think there’s a lot and that includes the opportunity to travel outside of the Philippines especially to Japan and South Korea which are in my bucket list.
And also inspiring other people to travel or start their own blog.
What is your greatest failure (or worst experience) as well?
Being not able to blog as often as before.
I think I have a lot of useful information to share on my blog that people will benefit from or care about but there are other things that I have to prioritize first.
What would your advice to people who want to start blogging or who are new into blogging?
Start a blog about something that you are passionate about . Whether about travel, fashion, food or photography, it’s easier to share ideas and talk about things if you really know them by heart and they come from your personal experience.
Don’t mind about your grammar or if you can’t take good pictures. These are something that you can improve later on .
Who are the bloggers you follow and why?
For Filipino travel bloggers, I follow Pinoy Adventurista , The Pinay Solo Backpacker and Lakwatsero because of their detailed and helpful travel guides of destinations in the Philippines.
Any last word to say to the readers?
Start a blog because it is something that you are passionate about.
Nowadays, I see many people’s motivation to start a blog is to make money.
It doesn’t work like that and most likely you will fail. And once you start a blog, don’t quit even if feels like there’s nobody reading it.

To our Dear Customers, Due to peak travels during the Holy Week (April 1-6, 2015), some of the trips of our bus and ferry partners are already fully booked. However due to last minute cancellations and additonal trips, some bookings made through our website are still getting confirmed, although its taking longer and only a few seats get through. We request for your understanding and patience. Dates outside the Holy Week get better chances for confirmation. Thank you very much.
