Princess Cruises Dining Room Menus (with food photos)

Princess Cruises Menus with Photos

Sharing is caring!

Are you going on a Princess Cruise? If so, you know that one of the best parts of cruising is the cruise food.

We’ve recently disembarked from a great cruise on the Regal Princess , and I thought I’d share the main dining room menus (main dishes, appetizers and desserts) with you. While the order of the nightly menus may be different, it’s likely that you’ll see these menus and food choices on your upcoming Princess Cruise.

I’ve included photos of the dishes we ordered as well, just to whet your appetite.

If you’re cruising with Princess, here is a Princess Cruises packing list that you can use:  Princess Cruises Packing List 2022

Princess Main Dining Room – Things to Know

Dine my way.

Cruising in 2022 has changed, and this includes the main dining room experience on Princess Cruises . While in the past Princess had “traditional dining” and “Anytime Dining”, this has been replaced with “Dine My Way”.

You can now reserve your dining times in advance on the Medallion Class app as you get ready for your cruise. Please note, if you’re in Club Class , you don’t need to make a reservation.

In our experience, you could also just show up at the main dining room (in our case Concerto) and be seated without an advanced reservation as well, although there could be a wait time.

Princess Favorites

In addition to nightly menu options, there are Princess Favorites that are always available. We did see some changes from past Princess Favorites. One classic that remains is the famous Fettuccine Alfredo.

Order as Much as You Want

If you are interested in more than one appetizer, or want to try 2 main dishes, go for it! In our experience, the waiters were very accommodating and would even offer to add a lobster tail to our steak dinner one night when we were undecided between 2 delicious options.

Princess cruise dining FAQ

princess cruise dining room menu

Is food on Princess Cruises included?

Sit-down meals in the main dining room, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, are always included on a Princess cruise, and the menu varies somewhat daily. Also included is a buffet, either called World Fresh Marketplace or Horizon Court, depending on the ship, as well as fast casual and grab-and-go spots on board that serve pizza, tacos, burgers, pastries and ice cream.

Specialty restaurants including Crown Grill, Princess's steak and seafood house, and Sabatini's, the signature Italian restaurant, require a surcharge that's priced at a flat rate per adult or child; some menu items also require an additional surcharge no matter the age of the guest.

Are drinks included on Princess cruise ships?

Select beverages are always included: iced tea, hot tea, brewed coffee, hot chocolate, milk, fruit juice, lemonade and tap water. Everything else, including soft drinks, wine, beer, cocktails, spirits and specialty coffees, must either be purchased a la carte or through one of the cruise line's beverage packages .

Do I need reservations?

Reservations are encouraged for the main dining room and the specialty restaurants, and it's best to make them as early as possible ; walk-in parties will be accommodated on a space-available basis. Guests can make reservations via the Princess MedallionClass app or at guest services once you're on board. If you wish to eat at the same time every night, you can do so by reserving your tables in advance.

Platinum and Elite Captain's Circle members have early access to reservations. Passengers booked in a Full Suite or Reserve Collection Mini-Suite don't need to make dining reservations as they will always be accommodated; they also have access to a dedicated space in the main dining room with expedited seating and an expanded menu.

Does Princess Cruises have an evening dress code?

"Smart casual" attire will be appropriate for the main dining room, buffet and fast-casual restaurants. You might want to pack something dressier for the specialty restaurants or one of the more upscale dining experiences like Chef's Table, 360 or a winemaker dinner.

On sailings that are five nights or longer, there will be one or more formal nights, which do require adhering to a dress code in the dining venues . Cocktail dresses, evening gowns or dressy pantsuits are appropriate for women, while dark suits, tuxedos or dinner jackets and slacks are required for men , along with dressy footwear. If you don't want to dress up or forgot appropriate attire, you're welcome to dine at the buffet or any of the other casual dining options on board during formal night.

Is there assigned seating in the main dining room?

There is currently no assigned seating at any dining venues on board Princess ships; however, that is changing for cruises departing on or after September 14. For those sailings, guests can choose between traditional seating (with assigned dining times, tables, tablemates and waiters in the main dining room) or flexible seating. Within flexible seating, passengers can either make reservations to dine at a specific time on any given night or walk in when they're hungry to access the first available table.

Until September, Princess will not offer assigned seating, and guests can choose to make reservations or not for the main dining room. If you are a solo diner or part of a couple or small group, your host might ask if you would like to sit with another party of a similar size in the main dining room; the choice is up to you.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

You can use the Cruise Personalizer to indicate your dietary preferences, including requests for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar and vegetarian diets. Kosher meals and baby food are available with advanced written requests. If you have allergies or medical needs related to food, you must inform Princess in writing — check the line's website for more details. Princess Cruises also recently introduced a series of vegan menus for dinner in the main dining room, including starters, soups, salads, pastas and main dishes.

Where can I get snacks on board?

princess cruise dining room menu

You'll find lots of spots to grab a quick bite, dessert or coffee, including Coffee & Cones, Patisserie, Swirls Ice Cream Bar, The Pastry Shop, International Cafe and Gelateria — options vary depending on the ship. Food at these venues is included, but there is a charge for specialty coffees and teas unless you have a beverage package.

Is room service included on Princess Cruises?

Guests can use the designated button on their cabin's phone to order room service 24 hours a day; each order incurs a $5 delivery fee, which is waived for those with Princess Plus or Princess Premier status.

You can also use the OceanNow feature in the Princess Medallion Class app to order food to be delivered to your cabin or anywhere else on the ship, like the pool deck. This feature is included with Princess Plus and Princess Premium; otherwise, there is a one-time access fee of $14.99 per person per voyage and a $5 delivery fee per order. Food and beverage surcharges may apply for some items ordered via room service.

Princess Cruises Food Review – EVERYTHING I Ate During my Cruise: (Photos and Menus)

If you are taking a Princess cruise you might be wondering what the food will be like. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included at no extra cost on a Princess cruise.

I’ve just disembarked Emerald Princess and in this post we will look at everything I ate in the main dining room, buffet and poolside grill. Menus are also provided.

Buffet – Included

The buffet on the Emerald Princess was open from early in the morning until late at night. The buffet is split into two sides and is relatively small due to the small size of the ship.

Below are some examples of my buffet meals. All of the food in the buffet is free and unlimited.

princess cruises main buffet food

The great thing was that during the changeover times, between breakfast and lunch, or lunch and dinner the buffet didn’t have to close completely because they would close one side and open another.

The buffet at dinner time consisted of:

  • A Carvery Section (Roast Meat etc.)
  • Indian, Chinese or Mexican Dishes

The sections would be different for breakfast and lunch.

Below is a photo of my breakfasts and one of my lunches.

princess cruises buffet food

I loved the number of things that were in small grab-and-go cups, this made it very easy to pick up a snack or to have a small portion of something.

We usually ate breakfast in the buffet and although I am not a big buffet fan, there was lots of choices. I mostly had bread and fruit as seen below.

There were lots of waiters around who would ask if we wanted a drink as soon as we sat down.

princess cruises main buffet food

The buffet was always very clean and the tables were cleaned between each group of guests.

The below photos show my dad’s breakfast (he’s much more into breakfast than me) and my fajita and nacho lunches. These were very yummy!

princess cruises main buffet food

Main Dining Room – Included

There are multiple main dining rooms onboard the Emerald Princess.

Guests can either choose fixed dining, where you have the same table at the same time each night or flexible dining. We opted for flexible dining and it worked well.

Flexible dining meant that we could book different restaurants and eat at different times.

We did also have the option to table share so if you were cruising solo, this would be a good way to meet other passengers.

princess cruises main dining room food

It wasn’t uncommon to find that there were extras available not on the menu.

Most nights there would be at least two specials, and one of them was usually vegetarian. The majority of the time the specials would be pies or curries.

The below vegetable pie and chips were an off-menu special.

princess cruises main dining room food

There was also an always-available section on the menu, these are called Princess’s favourites and they don’t change.

The dessert menu also has an always-available section. My favourite in this section is the Love Boat Dream, it’s a chocolate brownie/mousse and I had it multiple times during the cruise.

princess cruises main dining room food

A plate of chips/fries wasn’t on the menu but when I ordered the vegetable samosas, our waiter asked me if I could like some chips as the portion was small, I didn’t expect a whole bowl of chips!

If you’d ever like something extra, just ask.

princess cruises main dining room food

Caesar salad was always available as a starter as you’ll find on most cruise lines.

It is possible to order a starter as a main or a main as a starter if you’d prefer.

princess cruises main dining room food

There aren’t any limits on how many courses you can order, so if there are multiple things that take your fancy, order them all!

Many people order a couple of starters and a couple of mains. The waiters are very used to it.

The below menu was from Gala night, this is Princess’s formal night of sorts.

Many people do dress up for dinner and there is a dress code that’s in place.

It isn’t as strict as other cruise lines like Cunard, but compared to other American cruise lines like Carnival or Royal Caribbean, it is taken more seriously.

princess cruises dinner menu

We always found that the food was well presented, the portion sizes were good and the food hot. The service was great too.

Other Included Food – Pool Side Grill

In addition to the food in the buffet and the main dining room, there was freshly made pizza, burgers and hot dogs served on the pool deck.

The pizza restaurant was called Slice and the poolside grill was called Salty Dog.

princess cruises pool side grill / salty dog

The above might not look like much, but they were very tasty!

My brother said that his poolside burger from salty dog was the best that he’s ever had on a cruise.

I understand how gross the loaded fries (right) look but they were amazing. There was one vegetarian and one meat option.

Sadly there were no meat-free hot dogs available but there was a veggie burger.

To find out more about what is included in a Princess cruise beyond the food, check out this post: Princess Cruises – What is Included? Food, Gratuities and More

Other Included Food – Room Service/Bar Service

Princess cruises have taken room service one step further by letting all guests order from the room service menu to their location, even if they aren’t in their room.

We were able to order sandwiches, desserts, and drinks to our location just using the app.

princess cruise dining room menu

Realistically the app worked about 50% of the time, but when it did work, it was amazing.

I didn’t order room service on this cruise but have on Princess cruises in the past. Below are a couple of photos from my room service on Sky Princess.

Other Included Food – International Cafe (Cookies)

In the atrium of Princess cruise ships, there is a cafe called the international cafe. Here they have snacks that are available 24/7.

These are mostly small sandwiches and cakes but they do also have cookies here!

emma cruises cookies princess cruises atrium

The cookies are usually behind the scenes so you have to ask for them, either when you order your drink or you can just walk up to the food area and ask.

We had three different types of cookies on this cruise and they were all fantastic.

Our waiter would often bring us plates of cookies so that we could keep them in our cabin for snacks, it was amazing!

Tea and Coffee are served here but these do cost extra.

Tea and Coffee are also available for free in some other places around the ship, to find out where and when, check out this post: Princess Cruises Tea and Coffee Guide – Free and Premium Options

Speciality Restaurants

I didn’t go to any speciality restaurants during this cruise (restaurants that cost extra) but in the past, I have tried almost all of Princess’s speciality restaurants.

Princess Lunch Menu 2024

by Prof. Cruise · February 10, 2024

A photo of a lunch menu with text that reads: Princess's New Lunch Menu 2024.

Changes to the Princess Lunch Menu

Princess recently introduced a new lunch menu to be served fleet-wide in the main dining room (MDR). Unlike the previous menu, which changed daily, this new menu is the same every day with the exception of two rotating items (the last two items under “mains” on the menu below are the two rotating items for that day). The new menu includes:

  • 8 appetizers (or “lunch bites”)
  • 3 upcharge items (or “indulgences”)
  • 11 fixed entrees
  • 2 rotating entrees
  • 3 dessert options (not including the daily ice cream selections)

Here’s the new menu (note that the paella and the baked potato & grilled salmon are the two rotating items, so those will be swapped out for other items each day for up to 14 days at which point they will repeat again).

Reactions to the New Princess Lunch Menu

Many on long itineraries have expressed disappointment at having the same menu every day, while others (especially those on shorter itineraries) are pleased with the number and variety of choices. However you feel about the change, it appears to be the latest effort to streamline food offerings to simplify and cut costs (this is happening across the board on most major non-luxury lines). So with that…

Today’s Bonus Cruising Tip

I recommend always buying travel insurance to cover your cruise, but never purchase it through Princess. It costs more and usually covers less than policies you purchase on your own. I go through sites like  travelinsurance.com * to compare plans and prices and get the best deal for the coverage I want. Spend less on insurance and spend more on excursions, special onboard cruise experiences and…future cruises!

Very disappointed you now have to pay for the beef medallions. Also, no orange soufflé which was a historic delicious item offered only on embarkation day.

' src=

I always go to the MDR on embarkation day for the beef medallions. $19 is a bit steep. We seldom do lunch in the MDR other than on embarkation. Guess I’ll have to find different favorite.

Our Complete Guide to Sun Princess Restaurants with Menus

Elevate your dining experience on your next Princess cruise with our complete guide to all the Sun Princess restaurants with menus.

Sun Princess Restaurant Guide With Menus

Share this post:

The brand-new Sun Princess offers more dining options than any other Princess Cruises ship . While we were onboard for only 5 days , we did our best to eat and drink as much as possible. So, we are back and share all of the delicious details in our latest Sun Princess restaurants guide with menus.

Sun Princess Restaurants Guide With Menus

Complimentary sun princess restaurants.

There are several dining options on the list of Sun Princess restaurants that are included in your cruise fare. These include the main dining room as well as the newly relocated cruise ship buffet. There are also a few other quick service options throughout the ship. Not to mention, there’s not one but two coffee shops also serving light bites throughout the day.

Sun Princess restaurants

Horizons Dining Room (Decks 6 & 7)

A first for Princess Cruises, the Horizons Dining Room is a stunning three-story venue. The aft of this newly redesigned space is more open and features stunning wake views. This spacious and grand setup makes this dining room the most elegant on any Princess Cruises ship.

Each deck of the Horizons Dining Room offers a unique experience. Deck 6 is the largest of the three main dining rooms, which is open to traditional diners. Traditional dining on our cruise was at 5 PM and 7:30 PM. Deck 7 is reserved for guests who prefer flexible dining. Guests with this dining arrangement can make reservations through the cruise line’s app either pre-cruise or once onboard the ship.

Decks 6 and 7 serve the cruise line’s signature menu, with a rotational selection of starters, entrees, and desserts each night of the cruise. Plus, there’s a selection of Princess Favorites on the menu that remains the same each evening.

princess cruise dining room menu

Regardless of your dinner preference, all guests can walk up for breakfast from 7 AM to 9 AM daily at the Deck 6 Horizons Dining Room. On sea days, lunch is available from 11:30 AM to 1 PM here as well. While the breakfast menu stays the same, the lunch menu does rotate during the cruise.

Breakfast | Lunch 1 | Lunch 2 | Lunch 3 | Lunch 4 | Dinner 1 | Dinner 2 | Dinner 3 | Dinner 4 | Dinner 5 | Dinner 6 | Dinner 7 | Dinner 8 | Dinner 9 | Dinner 10 | Wine List

Americana Diner (Deck 8)

The third level of the main dining room on Sun Princess is referred to as the Americana Diner. While the décor of this Deck 8 space looks similar to the other decks, the dining concept is completely different. As the smallest of the three dining rooms, it boasts warm wood finishes and metallic accents with a more casual vibe.

The menu too is different. This venue serves an all-day menu featuring classic American comfort food, like shrimp po-boys, chicken wings, and pork ribs. Not to mention, it offers all day breakfast! This menu remains the same for the duration of the cruise.

Horizons Dining Room on Sun Princess

This is the least formal of the three dining rooms, with no dress code. The Americana Diner is open most days for brunch (from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM) and dinner (6 PM to 10 PM).

Reservations are not accepted for any meals here; so it is first come, first served for all meals.

All Day Menu

Coffee Currents (Deck 7)

Another new addition to Sun Princess is a second coffee shop in the Piazza. Open from 6 AM to late, Coffee Currents serves the same menu of espresso-based drinks as the International Café.

Sun Princess restaurants

However, it boasts more seating than its Deck 9 counterpart and a lounge that offers ocean views from the Sphere on the starboard side.

A small selection of bakery items is available throughout the day; though, there are less food options here vs. the International Cafe. While the coffee drinks are an upcharge here, all of the food items are complimentary.

Sun Princess Coffee Menu

Signature Restaurant (Deck 7)

Guests staying in Signature Collection suites can access this private and exquisite restaurant. Boasting plenty of natural light and an ornate glass centerpiece, this intimate venue features an exclusive menu that rotates nightly.

Guests staying in suites do not need to make reservations to dine in the Signature Restaurant.

The restaurant is open every day for breakfast (7 AM to 9:30 AM) and dinner (5 PM to 9 PM). On sea days, suite guests can dine at the Signature Restaurant for lunch from 11:30 AM to 1 PM as well.

Sun Princess restaurants

The Reserve Collection Restaurant (Deck 7)

Previously known as the Club Class, guests booked in the most ideally located mini-suites and cabana staterooms can access an exclusive restaurant as well, the Reserve Collection Restaurant. This private restaurant serves an elevated version of the main dining room menu, with a few distinct selections each night.

The restaurant is open every day for breakfast (7 AM to 9:30 AM) and dinner (5 PM to 9 PM). On sea days, guests can dine at the Reserve Collection Restaurant from 11:30 AM to 1 PM for lunch.

International Café (Deck 9)

This Princess Cruises staple serves up convenient eats around the clock. Open 24 hours a day, the International Cafe offers savory breakfast sandwiches and pastries in the morning to flatbreads, sandwiches, and delightful desserts in the afternoon.

All of the food at this Café is included in the cruise fare, and espresso-based drinks are covered in the Princess Cruises Drink Package .

This newly relocated space now offers outdoor seating on the Deck 9 promenade as well, another first for Princess Cruises.

The Eatery (Deck 9)

The cruise ship buffet on Sun Princess has been renamed and relocated. Now on Deck 9, The Eatery still serves various delicacies and specialties for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This all-day dining venue is conveniently located adjacent to the Piazza and offers expansive windows overlooking the outdoor Promenade. Further, the cruise line redesigned the layout of the buffet to enhance traffic flow. New to the cruise line, chefs at the Eatery serve all of the food to guests.

princess cruise dining room menu

Cruisers can choose from various warm and cold food selections from nine food stations. These include Asian stir-fry, Mexican favorites, and Italian classics. There’s also carving boards of roasted meats, tapas, bread, salad selections, fruits, and desserts for every sweet tooth.

With so many casual options, we only dined at the Eatery once for breakfast. Custom omelet stations and staple items like eggs, breakfast potatoes, meats, and bakery items gave us plenty to choose from, and we had no complaints.

During our cruise, breakfast was open most days from 6 AM to 10 AM. Lunch was served from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with dinner open from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM nightly.

The Promenade (Deck 9)

An extension of the Eatery, there are additional quick service stations outside on the Deck 9 promenade. Offering menu items similar to Lido Eats up on the pool deck, the Promenade features dining stations and a bar on each side of the ship.

Among the quick service items served here are pizza, tacos, burgers, fries, and soft-serve ice cream. The Promenade is open most days from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Promenade Dining Menus

Lido Eats (Deck 17)

With a laid-back resort vibe, the new Lido Eats offers quick service counter options up on the main pool deck. With five unique stands, there is something for everyone. Cruisers can find a satisfying snack most of the day, from salads to tacos, burgers, hot dogs, and pizza.

princess cruise dining room menu

During our cruise, Lido Eats was open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM. Covered tables and chairs are available nearby, or cruisers can grab their food and head back to a lounge chair near the pool.

We think this is a nice addition, so cruisers lounging poolside don’t have to trek down to the Eatery when lunch time rolls around.

Specialty Restaurants on Sun Princess

With so many great complimentary offerings, you certainly do not have to pay extra for dining on Sun Princess (if you don’t want to). Though, this new ship also offers a few specialty restaurants that come with an up-charge.

Happily, Princess Cruises has maintained several of the line’s popular specialty restaurants. Many of these restaurants feature enhanced menus to align with the latest contemporary design and décor of the venues themselves.

Sun Princess restaurants

If you plan to dine at any of these Sun Princess restaurants, you should make reservations pre-cruise, as popular dining times do fill up quickly.

Crown Grill (Deck 7)

A favorite of Princess guests who enjoy a perfectly grilled steak, Crown Grill on Sun Princess takes this classic steakhouse to a new level with modern and upscale decor. Inviting leather booths, circular seating, and contemporary artwork custom-designed for this restaurant welcome guests for an unforgettable dinner experience.

Featuring premium aged beef and fresh seafood, this specialty restaurant offers an intimate dining experience in a classically elegant setting. Guests can also enjoy views of their food prepared in the most extensive show galley on a Princess ship.

princess cruise dining room menu

Dinner at the Crown Grill is available from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM for a cost of $45 per person. Reservations are required.

Drink Menu | Dinner Menu

O’Malley’s Irish Pub (Deck 7)

One of our favorite bars on the new Sun Princess is O’Malley’s Irish Pub. Many cruise ships feature pubs, but O’Malley’s has the energy and ambiance of an Irish pub in Dublin.

Sun Princess restaurants

This traditional Irish pub boasts live music, interactive entertainment, and mouthwatering menu items. It serves comfort food at its best – pub-style Fish & Chips, Traditional Bangers & Mash, and Shepherd’s Pie, typically from 5:30 PM to 9 PM.

Menu items are priced a la carte, or cruisers can opt for a three-course meal including a starter, an entrée, and a dessert for $14.99 (plus gratuity). The Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages include food at O’Malley’s Irish Pub.

Of course, even if you don’t want to dine here, you can still stop in for a drink and some Irish tunes.

Food Menu | Bar Menu

Gelateria (Deck 7)

To utilize every inch of the Deck 7 space, Sun Princess has a small gelato station tucked into a corner of the hallway across from Princess Live. Here, cruisers can indulge in freshly made gelato, affogato, and cremosito.

However, the Princess Plus and the Princess Premier packages do not cover items at the Gelateria.

Gelateria Menu

Makoto Ocean (Deck 8)

This modern sushi bar, adjacent to the heart of the Piazza, offers spectacular views from the Sphere along with a vast array of sushi and sashimi specialties. Reshaping traditional sushi with a creative approach, Chef Makoto Okuwa brings his 25 years of experience to Sun Princess with exquisitely presented dishes paying tribute to Japanese traditions.

Formerly Kai Sushi, the newly re-branded Makoto Ocean offers mouthwatering bites that guests can enjoy from intimate tables. Or, they can watch sushi crafting at its best from expert chefs at the traditional sushi bar.

Makoto Ocean is open for dinner each night from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The $45 cover charge includes a Bento Box, Vegetarian, or Sushi Set Menu. Reservations are required.

Dinner Menu

Umai Teppanyaki (Deck 8)

Exclusive to Sun Princess, Umai Teppanyaki is the first Japanese steakhouse on a Princess Cruises ship. Here, highly skilled teppanyaki masters take center stage, using their fiery skills and flair to create a highly entertaining dinner-and-a-show experience.

Sun Princess restaurant menus

The meal begins with a selection of starters like Pork Belly Yakitori Rocks and progresses to grill entrées like Filet Mignon, Shrimp, or Chicken. Additional courses include edamame, miso soup, vegetables, a bowl of freshly made fried rice, and a choice of dessert.

Umai Teppanyaki is open for lunch on sea days and dinner every night of the cruise. There are two seating times, a first seating at 5 PM and a second seating at 7:30 PM. For lunch, there is one seating at 12 PM.

Teppanyaki Menu

Within the Umai venue, cruisers can also opt for a hot pot experience. This is also a first for Princess Cruises or any other cruise line for that matter. During this communal experience, guests craft a custom meal at one of the hot pot tables. Cruisers choose from 3 broths and several platters, like seafood, meat, or vegetarian, and then boil up the perfect meal.

princess cruise dining room menu

Dinner also includes rice, noodles, vegetables, and dessert. The up-charge for the Hot Pot experience is $45 per person, and reservations are required. During our cruise, this experience was only available during dinner from 5 PM to 9:30 PM.

Hot Pot Menu

Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria (Deck 8)

Another Princess staple, Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, has been re-imagined on Sun Princess. This modern restaurant features a new layout and elegant decor with intimate bistro-style nooks. It offers a sophisticated yet cozy and approachable dining experience for groups of various sizes.

Further, all cruisers will want to stop by to take a peek at the freshly made pasta prepared at the entrance of the restaurant.

The menu features unique handmade pasta courses prepared fresh daily, along with other classic Italian dishes. Guests can enjoy starters like arancini, creamy Burrata Caprese, and Classic Beef Carpaccio. Seafood dishes and savory meat selections like lamb chops, veal tenderloin, and chicken parm are entree highlights. And of course, cruisers can’t pass on the Tiramisu or my favorite, the Ricotta Cheesecake, for dessert.

princess cruise dining room menu

Similar to other specialty restaurants, reservations are required for Sabatini’s. The restaurant’s cover charge is $45 a person, with the dining room open from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM nightly.

Alfredo’s Pizzeria (Deck 9)

This charming favorite, serving the “Best Pizza at Sea,” has an open kitchen design on Sun Princess. At Alfredo’s Pizzeria, guests can watch the chefs create pizza by hand and serve it straight out of the oven.

New to the kitchen is a professional, open-mouth oven that reaches 968 degrees. At these temperatures, chefs prepare truly authentic Neapolitan pizza in just 90 seconds.

princess cruise dining room menu

Plus, guests can enjoy seating right in the Piazza, or outdoor seating is also available on the Promenade. Alfredo’s Pizzeria is open from 11 AM to 9:30 PM daily.

Menu items are priced a la carte, or cruisers can opt for a three-course meal including a starter, an entrée, and a dessert for $14.99 (plus gratuity). Cruisers with Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages can dine at Alfredo’s Pizzeria for no additional charge. If it’s been a while since you’ve cruised with Princess, you should note this change, as Alfredo’s is no longer free for all guests to enjoy.

Alfredo’s Pizzeria Menu

The Butcher’s Block by Dario (Deck 9)

This new specialty impromptu bistro is located on Deck 9 portside at the aft of The Eatery. In partnership with the world’s most famous butcher, Dario Cecchini, this new dining concept is open for dinner with two seatings every night. During our cruise, the first seating was 5:15 PM and the second seating was 7:45 PM.

Serving an 8-course carnivore’s delight in a family-style setting, this restaurant is all about enjoying a communal dining experience with family and friends.

The evening begins with a glass of red wine and an introduction from the onboard chef. The team showcases that night’s signature cuts before searing them to a medium temperature and carving them for everyone to see in the dining room.

Sun Princess restaurants with menus

Along with some sides, cruisers can also indulge in crusty bread and a shared bottle of Chianti. Just make sure to save room for the Oil Olive cake for dessert.

If you are cruising with someone who doesn’t eat red meat, like Heidi, there is a vegetarian menu available at a discounted price.

The Catch by Rudi (Deck 9)

The Catch by Rudi is also a pop-up dinner concept on Sun Princess from renowned Chef Rudi Sodamin. This venue is located across the way from The Butcher’s Block at the aft of The Eatery on the starboard side.

The Catch is a seafood-centric restaurant showcasing treasures from the sea, like shrimp cocktail, Seafaring Stew, and Calamari with seasoned panko coating and lemon aioli as appetizers. For entrees, guests can enjoy dishes like surf & turf or the catch of the day. And, the meal wouldn’t be complete without the signature Mozart’s Berry Composition for dessert.

While this restaurant is on other Princess Cruises ships , the menu on Sun Princess is different.

The Catch by Rudi is open for dinner from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM daily. Like most other specialty restaurants on Sun Princess, the cover charge is $45 a person, plus gratuity. Of note, a few menu items are an additional charge here like the Whole Shebang 12 oz. Lobster Tail.

princess cruise dining room menu

Coffee and Cones (Deck 17)

Cruisers will want to head aft on Deck 17 portside for a sweet treat. At Coffee and Cones, cruisers can get espresso-based drinks and free soft serve. However, cruisers can also indulge in one of the premium ice cream selections that are part of the Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages. These premium desserts can also be purchased a la carte for $12.

Coffee and Cones is open most days from 10 AM to 10 PM.

Coffee and Cones Menu

Love By Britto (Deck 17)

Located completely aft on Deck 17 affording wonderful wake views is another new restaurant concept for Princess Cruises. In partnership with artist Romero Britto, this intimate venue will offer an exceptional menu created by Chef Rudi.

This artistically-inspired dining experience will celebrate the essence of “love”. However, the venue was not finished during our sailing, and we were told the menu is still in the works. We received no official word as to when the venue will officially debut on Sun Princess.

Princess Cruises revolutionizes main dining with 3 unique options

CruiseMapper logo

Princess Cruises has unveiled a significant enhancement to its main dining options across its fleet, aimed at providing guests with increased flexibility and choice in their dining experiences. This enhancement introduces 3 distinct table service options – Traditional, Reservable, and Walk-in Anytime – complemented by the brand's exclusive OceanNow location-based service.

In an effort to cater to individual preferences and offer personalized service, Princess will allocate separate dining rooms on each ship for the three table service options. One dining room will be dedicated to traditional dining, offering both early and late seating every evening. Another will provide reservable dining times, while a third will offer open seating to accommodate walk-ins anytime. These options seamlessly integrate with Princess's OceanNow service, allowing guests to order anything, anytime, and have it delivered anywhere onboard.

The decision to make all dining formats available fleetwide follows the success of this approach already implemented aboard the new Sun Princess . The ship introduced a 3-story dining room, with each floor dedicated to a different dining option.

Beginning April 15, 2024, the new dining approach will launch on Princess voyages departing September 14, 2024, and beyond. To facilitate the transition, main dining reservations made for voyages sailing on or after September 14, except for Sun Princess, will be canceled. Existing reservations for voyages through September 13 will remain unaffected.

Starting June 17th, guests with bookings will have the option to use the app before their voyage to select between traditional seating in a dedicated dining room, where they will have the same waiter, table, and time each night, or flexible dining in either the Reservable or Open Seating dining rooms.

These changes do not impact guests booked in specialty dining restaurants or those in suite or reserve collection accommodations, as they already have access to dedicated dining rooms where reservations are not required.

Princess Cruises Rolls Out Fleetwide Dining Revolution: Traditional, Reservable, Open Seating, and Anywhere Service Now Available for Every Guest Preference

New Options Follow Successful Debut Aboard New Sun Princess

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 13, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Princess Cruises today announced it is making a significant enhancement to the main dining options found across its fleet, designed to give guests the ultimate in flexibility and choice when it comes to their dining experience by offering three table service options – Traditional, Reservable, or Walk-in Anytime - coupled with the brand's industry exclusive OceanNow location-based "anywhere" service.

With a dedication to personal preference and individualized service, Princess will designate separate dining rooms aboard every ship in the fleet* to the three table service options – one dedicated to traditional dining offering an early and a late seating every evening; one offering reservable dining times; and a third with open seating to support walk-ins anytime. The three table service options integrate with the line's unparalleled OceanNow, which provides guests the convenience of ordering anything, anytime, and receiving it anywhere onboard, making Princess uniquely positioned to accommodate all guest dining preferences.

Making all dining formats available fleetwide follows the resounding success of this new approach already implemented aboard the new Sun Princess. With the stunning introduction of the new next level Love Boat came the debut of three-story dining room with one floor dedicated to traditional dining, another serving guests with a flexible reservation and a third for anytime walk-ins.

"Our guests have been delighted with the dining flexibility aboard Sun Princess and we're pleased to extend the concept to all the other ships in our fleet," said Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises vice president of food and beverage. "Now whether guests prefer an early seating every evening, or change things up every night, or even change their mind, these flexible dining options ensure that their dining preference is effortlessly accommodated."

Starting on April 15, 2024, the new approach will launch on Princess voyages departing September 14, 2024 and beyond. To support these changes and the transition to the new system, main dining reservations that already have been made for voyages sailing September 14 and beyond for any ship except Sun Princess will be cancelled. Main dining reservations for guests sailing through September 13 will not be affected.

Starting June 17, booked guests will be able to use the app ahead of their voyage to opt for traditional seating in a dedicated dining room with the same waiter, same table and same time each night, or flexible dining, allowing them to enjoy dinner at any available time and table size of their choosing in either the Reservable or Open Seating dining rooms.

This change does not affect guests booked in specialty dining restaurants or suite or reserve collection accommodations, who enjoy a dedicated dining room on Princess ships, where no reservations are required.

Additional information about Princess Cruises is available through a professional travel advisor, by calling 1-800-Princess (1-800-774-6237) or by visiting www.princess.com .

* Reservable and Walk-in Anytime Dining will be combined into a single Main Dining Room location aboard Coral Princess and Island Princess.

The three table service options integrate with the line’s unparalleled OceanNow, which provides guests the convenience of ordering anything, anytime, and receiving it anywhere onboard, making Princess uniquely positioned to accommodate all guest dining preferences.

“Our guests have been delighted with the dining flexibility aboard Sun Princess and we’re pleased to extend the concept to all the other ships in our fleet,” said Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises vice president of food and beverage.  “Now whether guests prefer an early seating every evening, or change things up every night, or even change their mind, these flexible dining options ensure that their dining preference is effortlessly accommodated.”

I worked on cruises for 3 years. Here are 6 things I'd never do on board.

  • I used to work on cruises. After many days at sea, there are things I'd never do on a cruise .
  • I never wear my room key around my neck and try to avoid misnaming the ship.
  • I never buy the drink package or pay for meal upgrades in the main dining room.

Insider Today

I've sailed around the world as a cruise-ship employee , and now I enjoy cruising as a passenger.

I love the salty sea air, waking up in a new country, and lazy days by the pool, but a week at sea could get more complicated this year with cruises predicted to be in high demand .

While fighting a little harder to secure a prime seat on the pool deck, you may as well also avoid some rookie mistakes.

Here are six things I'd never do on a cruise after working on them for three years.

Pay for upgrades in the main dining room

Typically, main dining room meals are included in the cost of a cruise. But in recent years, it's become common for cruise lines to charge guests extra if they want to upgrade to "supplementary" items like lobster or certain steaks.

I know $12 may not seem like much for a steak or lobster tail at dinner, but the cost of the cruise is supposed to include your food.

So, even though I enjoy lobster, I stick with the items without the upcharges.

Buy the drink package

I enjoy a piña colada by the pool or a Manhattan while listening to a jazz set after dinner. Even so, it doesn't make sense for me to pay in advance for 12 to 15 cocktails a day.

I've done the math on typical unlimited drink packages , and the cost simply isn't worth it for me.

This is especially true with a port-heavy itinerary. If I've gone ashore to explore all day, that means I'm not sidled up to the bar slurping down alcoholic slushies.

Related stories

I prefer to buy as I go and take advantage of happy hour and other drink specials that are available on certain cruise lines. I also check the beverage policy in advance and bring on my own wine, if allowed.

Touch shared contact surfaces with my fingers

Fellow guests will never see me touching the elevator buttons with my fingertips. Knuckles and elbows do the trick.

Some cruise lines are better than others at wiping down commonly touched surfaces, but I don't take any chances. I avoid touching things others frequently touch, and I wash my hands frequently.

This strategy has worked for me, as I have never contracted norovirus, even when it was running rampant on a ship I was on. It's quite contagious and can linger on your fingertips even after using hand sanitizer . I'd definitely rather be safe than sorry.

Wear my room key around my neck

I never walk around the ship with my room key around my neck, and I especially never do this when on land.

There are two reasons for this. First, I see many passengers using the room keys dangling from their necks to flaunt their cruise loyalty status . It just looks pretentious.

The sophisticated cruisers with the highest status, with the most days at sea, never show off their fancy room keys.

That's because they know the more important reason — safety. In port, that room key bouncing off your chest looks like an invitation to be robbed. It screams, "I have money! Come and take it from me."

Misname the ship

English is a funny language that has its quirks. Naming conventions make that even more complicated.

Ships have proper names, and so do not require a definite article. For example, "Tomorrow I am embarking on Discovery Princess," or "I enjoyed scenic cruising on MS Westerdam."

If you want to look like a savvy sailor, learn to drop the "the!"

Plan my port-day itinerary so tight that I may not make it back to the ship on time

Oh, the recurring nightmares I've had about not making it back to the ship on time during a port day.

I've never missed a sail away, but I have cut it too close at times and have had to run down a pier or two. Just recently, as a passenger, my taxi driver got lost returning our group to the port at night.

When I realized how late we were going to be, I forked over $8 per minute to be connected with the ship. I pleaded with them to wait for us. It was a sprint through the port to get back on and we received quite a scolding from the first officer.

That time, we got lucky. In the future, I'll be giving myself more time than I think I need to make it back.
