The additional optional tours were also good, we did the Metro tour which I highly recommend, we also paid for the Kremlin tour. The hop on hop off has three different lines all included. They suggested we do the 1 hour boat trip and said they would drop us to the dock. 1) they dropped us in the wrong place 2) they were lost because of the marathon Then the boat, after we finally found it: 1) stinking fumes, actually gagging 2) no commentary, in fact, no interaction unless you begged 3) offered us 2 for 1 icecreams as they had melted and refrozen as the fridge gets turned off at night Honestly, we enjoyed the afternoon in the boat but spent all of it laughing at just how awful it was!!! The red route is quite exciting and takes about an hour. The bus comes every 10 to 15 minutes. However the other two routes take about two hours each and buses come every 30 to 40 minute period. If the bus is full then you have to wait at the stop for the next bus. So personally I feel that not much can be seen this way. I definitely was not impressed. The boat element was wonderful, we saw some amazing parts of Moscow along the river side. The bus element was very disappointing as it only started at 10am and was finished by 6:30pm. It was extremely warm when we were there and it would have been great to do the tour in the cool of the day. There was also no air conditioning in the down stairs part of the bus. The ear phones were small and sometimes the commentary did not link up with the sites you were seeing. The green bus takes you on a longer route and ours took two and a half hours due to the heavy traffic. I would not recommend this trip unless it is raining or you want to fill in time. The traffic is quite heavy so it is a bit slow but there is not a lot they can do about it. We only did the red route. The bus didn't stop at many points. Were were unaware a couple of times at what point we were and missed them. Headphones and maps were provided. Would recommend one should check out the route map before going and decide which places to stop in advance, this way one can manage and enjoy the tour more and us it more effectively.! And in the boat even tough we were 90% English speaking tourist at least, the tour guide spoke 95% of the time in Russia, and only 3 sentences in English, I really counted how many times she spoke in English. And at the end she asks us if we have any questions? Of course I told her I couldn’t ask her anything since I didn’t understand 95% of what she was saying. The boat tour is not worth it, just take the bus that would be my advice. Second minus is the waiting times, in the boat they made us wait an hour before it departed, and in many stops with the buses waiting times of 20-30 minutes. Flying into Deer Lake and out of St. John's, we make the most of each spectacular day in Newfoundland, featuring a Fabric of Canada dinner, a whale watching cruise from Bay Bulls, a visit to the Gander Aviation Museum, admission to L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, sightseeing in Gros Morne National Park, Twillingate, Trinity, St. John's, Cow Head and much more.

Our journey begins in Toronto where we board a flight to Deer Lake, Newfoundland.

This morning we travel up the west coast to Saint Anthony, enjoy the scenery along the way. Our accommodation tonight varies based on departure date. In June, we spend the night in Port au Choix. In July, we stay in Saint Anthony. In August, we'll spend the night in Plum Point.

This morning we visit L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, the only authenticated Norse site in North America. At the Viking Encampment, you can try blacksmithing or weaving, and talk to characters who will bring the Viking history to life. In this beautiful area of Newfoundland, so many icebergs run aground here that it is known as an iceberg graveyard. Be sure to have your camera ready for iceberg sightings! Spend the next two nights in Cow Head. Enjoy the area this evening, which features a sandy beach stretching for kilometres.

We begin the day with a visit the Gros Morne Interpretation Centre. Experience the outstanding exhibits and enjoy the walking trail close by and an included lunch. . This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers 1,805 square kilometres and is full of raw and enigmatic beauty.

Travel into Gros Morne National Park today for exceptional sightseeing. There will be plenty of opportunities for photography today, and options available for hikers. Then, journey to Corner Brook, where we'll spend the night

This morning, we journey to the town of Appleton to visit their Peace Park. A steel beam that was once part of the World Trade Center in New York City was donated as a memorial piece. About 100 passengers from 14 countries were cared for in Appleton and in nearby Glenwood during the crisis in 2001. Later on, we arrive in the town of Gander for a two-night stay.

Twillingate features a stunningly rugged coastline, historical, picturesque streets, and lush countryside roads. It's one of the stops along Iceberg Alley, a vast corridor of ocean that runs from Greenland. Then, visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum, chronicling Gander's fascinating role in development of transatlantic aviation, from the 1930s through 9/11. This evening you'll enjoy a special Fabric of Canada event in Gander, including an authentic "Screech-In" ceremony you'll never forget!

Travel from Gander to Trinity. This town offers beautifully restored fishing rooms and saltbox houses and top-rated dining. Watch a blacksmith at work and visit the Cooperage to learn about barrel making. This afternoon we arrive in Bonavista, visiting the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse with a phenomenal view from the top of the cliffs. We then spend the night in Clarenville.

A scenic drive takes you into Heart's Content to visit the Cable Station where, in 1866, the first permanent telegraph cable connecting Europe and North America was hauled ashore. This afternoon we make our way to St John's, our home for the next three nights.

A local guide joins us this morning for a close look at the best of this unique city. This afternoon, visit The Rooms, home to an extensive collection of artifacts, art, and archival records. Spend the evening exploring the historic streets of the downtown area, full of restaurants, pubs, and galleries.

This morning, travel to Bay Bulls for a whale and puffin-watching cruise. Returning to St. John's, you have your choice of afternoon activity. The GEO Centre, cut from the ancient rock of Signal Hill, takes us deep underground to experience the story of our earth and tells the story of the Titanic. Or explore downtown and lively George Street.

Board a plane in St John's for a flight back to Toronto's Pearson International Airport, with memories of your Newfoundland getaway. Great Canadian shuttle drivers meet you at the airport for a convenient return to your hometown.

We were disappointed with Samesun Banff and horrified at the price they charged for two beds in what was effectively a 12-bed dormitory with one toilet/shower room. There were a lot of activities especially in Jasper that weren’t available due to the weather. Maybe other options should have been offered. Also Sun Peaks, though I understand it was a necessary stop to give the driver a break, was a boring place. But the hotels were acceptable and the guide and the driver (Todd) were both great.

Good coverage of the Rockies with appropriate stops in all the important towns topped off with an excellent tour guide and driver. Maybe consider breakfast in tour particularly when we had early starts.

This was an excellent trip. The hikes were fantastic each day in wonderful scenery. The 2 guides Kevin and Jafar were outstanding throughout. The food was great too. Lots of variety and very tasty. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone that enjoys hiking and an outdoor adventure. The Rockies are amazing.

I had a wonderful time! I only wish the tour had been longer. Our guide Rebecca was super great and funny. We ate well and saw some amazing views.
