I went for lunch at Tour 58 on June 28th for the 1:30 pm sitting. I had made reservations weeks before online. There is a kiosk at the foot of the Tower where you obtain your tickets for the restaurant, you have to pay for the elevator lift to get to the restaurant, and you can bypass the line-up to get on the elevator to get to the restaurant. I will describe the quality of the food as 'high class cafeteria food'. They give you a set menu, you go to a counter, tell them your order, and they give you the appetizer and dessert in plastic containers which you carry yourself back to your table. The waiter will bring you drinks and the main course. The day I went, the restaurant wasn't even half full (I reserved the 1:30 pm sitting). One thing to note is, they didn't allow us to take the elevator to the second floor, so we had to walk up from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor (360 steps).

Hope this helps for those who are planning a visit. Overall, I was not disappointed because based on previous reviews, I knew what to expect. I still decided to go eat there because my mom really wanted to experience it, and given the price (19 EUR for main+dessert), it was worth making her happy!

Yes I have heard that the old Altitude 95 was now a glorified cafetaria.

No need to eat there. It is like the Bateaux Mouche. Take your ride and eat elsewhere.

Two weeks ago we had the misfortune to dine at this restaurant. I can only say – DO NOT GO (and how I wished I had thought to visit Trip Advisor beforehand...)

Clearly, we wanted a superior evening which we felt would be fitting for the week celebrating the Fête de la Fédération and 120th anniversary of the tower itself. In addition to this tour, our group booked a Lido package (€960) and Giverny half day (€340). I paid €540 for the above tour when we arrived at our Hotel.

We were picked up by a pleasant guide and transported to the Restaurant 58 Tour Eiffel. Having read the information on the PARIS EXCURSION website (recommended by our hotel), we were expecting “a lovely dinner”, “to taste the best of French cuisine in very nice Parisian restaurants...” This was reinforced by the price we paid and the fact that we had been told there was a ‘strict dress code’ in operation. We were appropriately attired for a special occasion.

The meal and the restaurant was a catastrophe. Not only was the day service still in operation (we seemed to be the only customers, apart from a group of American tourists, not wearing jeans or shorts) but the meal itself was simply appalling. It was a set menu that comprised a starter of limp lettuce with a few shavings of cheese; a dry piece of chicken breast with a small portion of mashed potato along with a very cheap Bordeaux and a poor chocolate dessert. We could see better food being served to other diners and saw that far superior meals were advertised in the restaurant for as little as €45. Bearing in mind we were charged €135 each, this was basically a classic tourist rip-off knowing that few customers would ever come back.

Not only was the meal a disgrace, but we found ourselves seated at the back without any view, the staff were rude when we complained and the manager refused to see us. Unbelievably, the waitress started clearing the plates before I had finished my course, which I haven’t seen in many years of dining around the world. I can safely say that none of us had ever experienced such appalling food or service and were shocked to be treated in this way at a premier location in a country with such a famous culinary reputation. We were so angry that we departed the restaurant and returned to our hotel, cancelling all the bookings.

I am about to attempt legal action to recover my money, but in the meantime please learn from my mistake and DON’T GO.

Oh – as an aside, we booked all the events we wanted to do ourselves at a fraction of the cost charged by the tour company. I have been travelling independently for years and only went with these people because I convinced myself that all venues would be heavily booked at this time of year (like the Jules Verne). Never again.

The Lido is a brilliant evening (a must do, we reckon) and the trip to Giverny on the train was a joy.

58 Tour Eiffel Restaurant Review

My daughter, Bunky, was so excited about the dinner at the restaurant located in the Eiffel Tower, 58 Tour Eiffel , it was all she was talking about whenever anyone asked her about our upcoming Paris trip. And if you ask Bunky now what she remembers the most about our trip, she would say it was the dinner in the Eiffel Tower (and we spent two days at Disneyland!).

To be honest, the main reason why I decided to book dinner at 58 Tour Eiffel is that it allows you to skip a long elevator line as we were visiting in summer – peak tourist season. 

If you have a reservation at 58 Tour Eiffel, you will be directed to a separate security checkpoint located between the South and East pillars. You must have reservation confirmation email to be allowed access. We were the only people at the checkpoint so we just breezed through.

Then, you will need to go to the restaurant welcome desk (between the North and East pillars) to pick up your lift ticket. The lift ticket gives you access to the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. The kiosk wasn’t opened when we got there (we arrived a bit earlier than recommend 30 minutes prior to dinner as we expected the security screening to take way longer), so we had to wait a few minutes for it to open.

Once we got the ticket, we proceeded to the elevator that is reserved for the restaurant guests only. Zero wait here as well, however, we had to go through another security check.

You can see the “regular” line  behind Bunky in this picture. For reference, this was a Friday in June, around 6 pm.

If you have some time to kill before the reservation (like we did as we did not encounter any lines), you can pick up a free kids activity book in the gift shop near the restaurant.

The dinner includes starter, main course, and dessert. The menu changes every season.

I loved all of it. I do not have a single complaint about any of my courses. I wouldn’t necessarily say the meal was worth the price, but you don’t pay for the food, you pay for the experience of having dinner in the most iconic landmark in the world (subjective opinion, of course).

Surprisingly, Bunky ate some of the soup, but barely touched the main course (seemingly a safe choice). She devoured the dessert, of course! 

I chose not to pay for the guaranteed Trocadéro   view table (the “Emotion” offer). It is a possibility you could still get the “view” table even if you don’t pay for it. However, we were not so lucky.

In the end, I would definitely recommend 58 Tour Eiffel. Dining there was a memorable experience for both us. Book it for being able to say you had dinner in the Eiffel Tower, and to skip long security/elevator lines.

There is a relatively unknown restaurant on the first platform of the Eiffel Tower. This used to be a private conference room area closed to the public. But it’s was re-done into a restaurant called 58 Eiffel Tower. It sits at 58 meters above the ground, hence the name! The restaurant is unique in that it serves products only produced in France (or French territories) so the ingredients are fresh and only what is in season. The preparation of the food is a challenge due to the harsh constraints of all the fire regulations for the tower. There is no gas, everything is electric which any chef will tell you is not the easiest when it comes to controlling temperature, etc. They offer a fixe prix menu that includes a glass of champagne, a starter, wine and water, main course, dessert and coffee. You can also order a la carte as well, if that is what you prefer. In addition, they have a kids menu as well. You must make a reservation which allows you to (a) go to a special booth where you do not have to wait in line to pick up your ticket, (b) access to a special no-wait line to access the elevator to the first platform (c) full access to the first platform. When making a reservation, try to get a table on the outside so you have a view on Paris , rather than on the inside, which gives you a view of the interior of the tower. It is a great way to bypass all the tourists and enjoy a unique experience in the Eiffel Tower.

* We recommend you arrive 30 minutes before your reservation. Collect your lift ticket at the restaurant booth (between the north and east pillars, near the BNP Paribas cash machine) which gives priority access to the 1st floor of the Eiffel Tower. * The restaurant does not have a cloakroom nor lockers for luggage. Therefor, oversized baggages are no longer accepted within our establishment. * Animals are not accepted, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind. * The tower is entirely a non-smoking zone.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Your reservation is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation from us via email under 48 hours.

In the event you cancel your booking, cancellation fees will be charged as detailed below: 1) From 3 days prior to the event date, you will be charged a 100 % cancellation fee (No show) 2) 4 to 7 days prior to the event date, you will be charged a 50% cancellation fee 3) More than 7 days prior to the event, you will be charged a 5% cancellation fee

Payment Processing

Advance payment is required to validate your reservation. Payments on this site can only be made by using MASTERCARD or VISA, through our secured Internet pages. Your bank card details will be encrypted (up to 128 bits) with the SSL (Secured Socket Layer) protocol. Your bank card details are never transmitted unencrypted on the Internet.

Payment stays on hold until the services are confirmed:

Occasionally our suppliers and / or service providers make changes to tour dates, prices, inclusions, coverage, age requirements, etc. As a result, PWS reserves the right to deny or accept your payment. Under this agreement, the processing of payments remains on hold until the services are confirmed by our central reservation. After this, you will receive a personalized email for each tour, event or service booked and paid, or a notification that we could not retain your payment. Please wait for our reply. If the tour is available, we will confirm within 1 business day and your credit card will be charged 100% of the cost of the tour, show, or other services (including tax), plus the booking fee indicated, if any. This amount will be debited in Euros. The rates shown include all taxes and VAT.

Any interruption of the tour or service during its delivery, at the client's request, shall not give rise to any refund. Any customer who arrives after the start time of the excursion shall be considered a "no show" and not refunded, whatever the reason for their tardiness. The organizer reserves the right to cancel or modify certain tours without notice if the client’s comfort or safety so requires. This could happen in a force majeure case, during a strike or demonstration, an administrative decision or exceptional closure...
